2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE TPMS "TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM" THE VALVE STEMS ON ALL FOUR TIRES WAS EITHER CRACKED AND / OR DEFECTIVE, TWO WERE LEAKING AIR SO BADLY I HAD TO FILL THEM BACK UP WITH AIR EVERY DAY> I THOUGHT I HAD DRIVEN OVER SOME NAILS THAT MADE THEM LEAK AIR. WHEN I WENT TO GET THEM CHECKED, I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT IT WAS THE VALVE STEMS THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO REPLACE THEM WITH RUBBER VALVE STEMS. DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED AND GOING TO CALL THEM ABOUT IT. BUT DON'T THINK THEY ARE COVERED. JUST GLAD I DIDN'T HAVE A BLOW OUT OR SUDDEN LOSE OF AIR THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO WRECK. THIS DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AND THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON FAULTY EQUIPMENT. *TR
THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SYSTEM IN THE NISSAN VERSA APPEARS TO HAVE A SYSTEMIC FAULT OF CONSTANT LEAKING. I LIVE IN WISCONSIN (SALT IN WINTER) AND I AM NOW FORCED TO REPLACE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR SYSTEM FOR THE SECOND TIME AT A COST OF $180 PER TIRE. IT APPEARS TO WEAR OUT EVERY 2 YEARS, LEADING TO LEAKING OF THE TIRE, CAUSING AN UNSAFE SITUATION. *TR
TIRES KEPT ON GOING FLAT. NO LEAKS FOUND. REOCURING PROBLEM. HAD THE VALVE STEMS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. *TR

2009 NISSAN VERSA SE ENG: 1.8 LITER GASOLINE,FOUND ENGINE MOUNT INSULATOR BOLT VERY LOOSE NOT THREADED IN CORRECTLY. TOOK TO DEALER FOR RE-THREADED AND REMOUNTED. QUESTION IS WHAT IF THAT WAS A BOLT HOLD BREAKS AND YOU GOING ON HY-WAY AND IT FALL OFF AND YOU CAN'T STOP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ENTERING THE RIGHT LANE THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BACK IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION IN ORDER TO CENTER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE CHANGE IN STEERING AND CONTINUED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT UNTIL IT CRASHED. DURING THE FAILURE THE BRAKES WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INSURANCE LOT WHERE THEY DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
THE STEERING COLUMN CLICKS AND SHIFTS WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS, ESPECIALLY GETTING ON AND OFF HIGHWAY RAMPS. THE STEER COLUMN OFTEN TIMES FEEL LIKE IT COULD TWIST OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO INJURIES, CRASHES, OR INCIDENTS IN DIRECT RELATION TO THIS AS OF YET BUT DOES NEED TO BE LOOKED INTO. OTHER INSTANCES HAVE BEEN REPORTED ON ONLINE FORUMS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DEFLATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND PUNCTURED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS ON BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. UPDATED 7/21/15*CN THE MUFFLER, TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR, BLOWER MOTOR AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED. THE COIL SPRINGS AND TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS WERE REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE. UPDATED 07/30/15
NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK 2009, THE BRAKES SQUEAK VERY LOUDLY WHENEVER THE CAR IS WARM. I HAVE TAKEN TO BE REPAIR 5 TIMES AND THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FIXED. *TR
I HAVE A HISTORY OF COMPLAINS WITH NISSAN ABOUT THE STEERING. MY COMPLAINT WAS ABOUT A PINGING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. YOU COULD ALSO FEEL THIS PING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. NISSAN IGNORED THIS COMPLAINT AND EXPLAINED IT WAS MY ABS CALIBRATING. AS TIME WENT BY THE NOISE GOT WORST. NISSAN WOULD EVEN CHARGE ME $150.00 EACH TIME THEY LOOK AT THE CAR FOR THIS NOISE AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. LAST WEEK NISSAN TOLD ME THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SPRING MOVING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL TURNS. THE SPRING TIGHTENS AND LOOSENS WITH EACH TURN OF THE WHEEL. THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AND HAVE A FIX FOR IT, BUT THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR IT. TO ME THIS SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT IN DESIGN AND I SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR THE CHARGES, HOWEVER THEY WONT REPAIR IT UNLESS I PAY FOR IT. *TR
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE LOW-TIRE SENSOR SINCE SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY 2009 NISSAN VERSA. I KEPT TAKING IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY WOULD GET IT TO GO OFF BUT TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AFTER 12,000 MILES. SO I WOULD TAKE MY CAR TO A LOCAL TIRE COMPANY AND THEY WORKED ON IT A FEW TIMES. WHEN I NEEDED NEW TIRES, THEY REPLACED ALL MY TIRES WITH NEW ONES, AND EVEN SERVICED THE PRESSOR SENSORS. WITHIN 1/2 DAY OF DRIVING OFF WITH NEW TIRES, THE SENSOR CAME BACK ON. IT HAS BEEN ON SINCE. THIS SYSTEM COULD SAVE LIVES IF WE DIDN'T HAVE TO IGNORE THEM SO MUCH!!! DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOVE MY VERSA. I WOULD RATHER IT HAD A RELIABLE TIRE PRESSURE SENSING SYSTEM. *TR
NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND FRONT DRIVER SEAT FAILED WHEN VEHICLE HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED. THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT FAILED WITH BACK OF DRIVER SEAT FALLING ON TO REAR SEAT DURING COLLISION. SEATBELTED DRIVER WAS TURNED SIDEWAYS DURING COLLISION WITH LEFT ARM IMPACTING STEERING COLUMN SEVERELY INJURING LEFT UPPER EXTREMITY. THESE FAILURES OCCURRED ON 2009 NISSAN VERSA 4DR SEDAN WITH 400 ODOMETER MILES PURCHASED FROM NEW CAR DEALER TWO DAYS PRIOR TO ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES, SIZE P185/65/R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT TIRES BECAME WORN AT 25,000 MILES ALTHOUGH THE TIRES HAD BEEN ROUTED EVERY 5,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WAS ADVISED TO CALL THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WHO TOLD THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY FOR THE TIRES AND THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENTS. DIFFICULTY READING SPEEDOMETER) I HAVE A 2009 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK. THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT IS BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE QUADRANT ( ZERO TO 40 MILES) CANNOT BE READ DURING MOST DAYLIGHT HOURS. THE BACKLIGHT PROVIDES A CONTRAST SUFFICIENT TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER ONLY DURING EVENING AND LOW LIGHT PERIODS. IT APPEARS THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER FACE IS SET SO FAR BACK THAT IS IT DEPRIVED OF NATURAL LIGHT AND/OR THE BACK LIGHT IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO CREATE A CONTRAST. THE QUADRANT (70 TO 100 MPH) RECEIVES SUFFICIENT LIGHT TO BE READ, BUT I NEVER DRIVE OVER 60 MPH. THIS IS INDEED A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IN STRICT SPEED ZONES, ESPECIALLY SCHOOLS THAT USE CAMERA ENFORCEMENT, I AM FORCED TO DRIVE WITH ONE HAND ON THE WHEEL AND THE RIGHT HAND HOLDING A FLASH LIGHT. I MADE A COMPLAINT TO NISSAN AND THEY ADVISED THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. I STRESS THIS DESIGN FLAW ON THE PART OF NISSAN IS A HAZARD TO SAFE DRIVING. *TR
I OWN A NISSAN VERSA 2009 AND I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STARTING THE VEHICLE, LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL OR SOMETHING. ALSO, LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT SUDDENLY WOULD NOT GO WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND ON THE WAY THERE IT STARTED WORKING FINE, I LEFT IT AT THE DEALER ANYWAYS AND THEY KEPT IT FOR THREE DAYS AND CALLED ME UP AND SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. MY VEHICLE IS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS AND THIS TIME MY WIFE WAS TURNING A CORNER ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY AND ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD HARDLY MOVE AND THE OTHER CAR WAS GOING REALLY FAST. THE DEALER REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS THEY CAN REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE KIDS THAT DRIVE IN THE CAR WITH ME. THEY EVEN CHARGED ME MONEY TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NO DIAGNOSES THEY SAID "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE." *TR
FUEL GAUGE ON 2009 NISSAN VERSA COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. LOOKED ON THE NET FOR ADVISE ON HOW TO FIX IT, TO MY SURPRISE THERE ARE 7 PAGES OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINT. NISSAN SAYS ITS NOT THEIR PROB. I SAY THESE PEOPLE ARE PUSHING LEMONS AND THEN WHEN SOMETHING FAILS THEY SAY ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS CLEARLY NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. *TR
AT ABOUT 32,000 MILES, THE ENGINE QUIT WHILE IN TRAFFIC, AND THE CAR (2009 NISSAN VERSA) WAS PUSHED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND LEFT OVERNIGHT. THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL PUMP FAILURE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE PRESSURE SENSOR, BUT THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP ASSY WAS REPLACED. *TR
I DRIVE A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. I GOT IT APRIL OF 2010. THIS CAR HAS UNEXPECTED OR DELAYED ACCELERATION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I STEP ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE LIKE WHEN I GET ON THE FREEWAY AND THE CAR IS VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE AND THEN 5 SECONDS LATER IT ACCELERATES TOO FAST. *KB

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURE, THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE RESULTING IN A CRASH; HOWEVER, NO ONE WAS INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE DOESN'T OCCUR WHILE USING THE HEAT, ONLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS BEING USED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 33 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH CRASHED INTO HER VEHICLE HEAD ON. AS A RESULT, THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BECAME UNBOLTED FROM THE FLOOR AND THE SEAT BELT SLICED THROUGH THE PASSENGER SEATED IN THAT SEAT. THE DRIVER ALSO SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL TO TREAT THEIR SERIOUS INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INSURANCE LOT. THE MANUFACTURER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE RESULT OF THE HIGH SPEED CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF 25 MPH, THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 9,761.
THE HIGH-BEAM SWITCH LEVER IS ALSO THE SWITCH TO TURN THE HEAD LIGHTS OFF OR ON. MANY TIMES I HAVE PUSHED OR PULLED THE LEVER TO TURN BRIGHT LIGHTS ON OR TO DIM THEM. ON MANY OCCASIONS I HAVE TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE LEVER ROTATED TO THE OFF POSITION. THIS HAPPEN REGULARLY, ESPECIALLY WHEN DIMMING QUICKLY BECAUSE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH TIRE SENSOR ON THE NISSAN VERSA. ONE HAS BEEN REMOVED BECAUSE IT IS CRACKED AND ANOTHER ONE IS FAILING. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE TIRES LOOSE AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF AIR BECAUSE OF THIS FAILURE AND COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHE. WE WERE TOLD BY NISSAN THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WE WOULD BE GLAD TO ORDER 2 NEW SENSORS FOR APPROXIMATELY $300.00. THAT PRICE IS MORE THAN THE TIRES ARE WORTH AND WE REPLACED THE STEMS WITH STANDARD ONES AND OUR LIGHT FOR TIRE SENSOR STILL IS ON AND I AM CONSTANTLY CHECKING THE OTHER 2 TIRES TO SEE IF A DANGEROUS SITUATION IS DEVELOPING. *TR
HAVE HAD PROBLEMS STARTING 2009 NISSAN VERSA, PROBLEM BEGINS WITH LONG STARTS, CAR TURNS OVER 6 OR MORE REVOLUTIONS BEFORE STARTING, THEN LEADS LATER TO THE CAR TURNING OVER AND NOT STARTING AT ALL. DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR THE FIRST TIME, FUEL PUMP THE SECOND TIME AND NOW THEY STATE THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE WITH NO CORRECTIVE ACTION BEING DONE THE VEHICLE. IF CAR IS ABLE TO BE STARTED IT RUNS VERY CHOPPY, DEALER INSISTED IT WAS A COMPRESSION PROBLEM, BUT NOW CLAIMS THERE SHOULD NOT BE A CONTINUING PROBLEM. FIRST ISSUE WAS AT 8440 MILES, SECOND AND THIRD AT 14,959 MILES. *TR
I HAVE HAD THREE TIRE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR VALVES FAIL ON THREE DIFFERENT TIRES SINCE I BOUGHT MY 2009 NISSAN VERSA IN FEBRUARY 2009. TWO KEPT LOSING AIR AND TRIGGERING THE LIGHT IN MY DASHBOARD MORE FREQUENTLY UNTIL IT WAS EVERY 2 OR SO DAYS AND I HAD IT REPLACED WITH A PLAIN VALVE TILL I COULD GET TO NISSAN FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE OTHER WAS SUDDENLY ALMOST FLAT AND I HAD THE VALVE REPLACED. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, MAYBE IT WAS THE WEATHER, EVEN THOUGH ONLY ONE TIRE WAS LOSING PRESSURE EVERY 2 DAYS. I HAVE CHANGED DEALERSHIPS AND THEY HAVE REPLACED 2, AND I WILL BE BRINGING IN THE THIRD. ALL WERE ORIGINALLY DIAGNOSED AND HAD PLAIN VALVES REPLACED AT MY LOCAL TIRE STORE. WHEN WILL THE FOURTH GO, AND WILL IT KILL ME OR SOMEONE ELSE? ARE THE REPLACEMENTS ANY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS? I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN MAY 2009. IN THE MIDST OF A HARSH WINTER, WE NOTICED THAT OUR TIRE WAS GOING FLAT AND THE TPMS LIGHT WAS ON. WE BOUGHT A NEW TIRE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE TPMS GAUGE WAS CRACKED AND LEAKING AIR. AFTER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT NISSAN RECALLED SEVERAL VEHICLES FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. BECAUSE MY NISSAN VERSA WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, THEY REFUSED TO COVER IT. THE GAUGE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT CANNOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY WITHOUT IT. *TR
NISSAN VERSA 2009 SL ' HATCHBACK - CAR ACCELERATOR WAS IRRESPONSIVE WHEN THE CAR WAS PUT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED, THE CAR JUST ROLLED FORWARD AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES/HR AND DID NOT EXCEED THAT SPEED. CAR'S RPM DID NOT EXCEED MORE THAN 1100 EVEN AFTER THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED ALL THE WAY AGAINST THE FLOOR. FINALLY, THE CAR WAS TOWED AND TAKEN TO THE NISSAN DEALER TO DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. ONCE THEY RECEIVED THE CAR, THEY HOOKED IT TO THE COMPUTER AND FOUND SOME DEFECT IN THE COMPUTER CODE. THEN THEY WIPED THE CODE (BASICALLY RESET IT) AND DROVE THE CAR AROUND TOWN FOR 3 DAYS IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, CAR STARTED DRIVING JUST FINE AFTER THAT. THE DEALER DID NOT REPAIR ANY PARTS/ELECTRONICS OTHER THAN RESETTING THE CODE AND GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME SAYING THAT IT WAS A COMPUTER CODE GLITCH. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 VERSA THAT HAS APPROX 3800 MILES. THIS HAPPENED OUT OF NO WHERE: THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING FINE UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT. THE CAR BEGAN TO HESITATE LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. I PUSHED THE GAS AND IT WAS STILL HESITATING AS I DROVE. I FINALLY, STOP AND TURNED OFF THE CAR AND BEGAN DRIVING IT AGAIN. IT WAS OKAY UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP AGAIN AND IT STARTED ALL OVER. I TOOK ME THE FULL 100 YDS TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND I WENT PAST THE STOP SIGN BY 15 OR 20 FEET BEFORE FULLY STOPPING. 2ND INCIDENT-SAME DAY) I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH ON A CITY STREET IN DOWNTOWN FORT WAYNE, IN. THE ROAD WAS COVERED WITH ICE. THE CAR 30 FEET FRONT OF ME PUT ON THEIR BRAKES WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AT THE APPROACHING INTERSECTION TURNED FROM GREEN TO YELLOW. I APPLIED MY BRAKES(ABS KICKED IN) AND IT WAS LIKE NOTHING WAS HAPPENING I KEPT GOING FORWARD AT THE SAME SPEED AND I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE A REAR-END COLLISION SO I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE CAR DRIFTED LEFT INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THEN WENT INTO A 180 DEGREE SPIN. AN ONCOMING SUV DODGED ME AND I STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING. I OBSERVED NO OTHER VEHICLES WITH DIFFICULTY BRAKING ON THE ICE. I'VE DRIVEN OVER 35 YEARS AND HAVE DRIVEN MANY DIFFERENT CARS, PICKUP TRUCKS, AND SUV'S. AND NONE OF THEM HAD SUCH A POOR BRAKING SYSTEM AS THIS 2009 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK. MY WIFE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP IN FORT WAYNE FOR A 3,500 MILE CHECKUP. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AND DESCRIBED THE INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED IN DOWNTOWN FORT WAYNE. HE PRETTY MUCH SAID THAT ICE IS DANGEROUS AND THERE'S NO VEHICLE THAT WON'T SLIDE ON ICE. I SAID, I DIDN'T SLIDE UNTIL I APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I SAID IT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE THERE IS ENOUGH BRAKE FLUID GOING TO THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. HE SAID "WE DON'T HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT TO TEST FOR THAT." THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ACCELERATING UP HILLS AND WOULD OCCASIONALLY ROLL BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

I OWN A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE WINDOW WIPERS ARE DESIGNED SUCH THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER BLADE IS '2X' THE PASSENGER BLADE. WHEN USING THE WIPERS (RAIN OR CLEANING THE WINDOWS) THE DRIVER'S SIDE BLADE THROWS WATER ON TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND AS THE PASSENGER SIDE BLADE HAS ALREADY COMPLETED ITS SWING THUS THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IN NEVER CLEAR OF WATER, WHEN DRIVING THE WATER BUILDS UP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FASTER THAN THE WIPER CAN CLEAN IT DUE TO THE EXTRA WATER FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER (FOR ME THIS IS RIGHT IN MY FIELD OF VISION). THIS CAUSES A PROBLEM BECAUSE I CAN NOT SEE TRAFFIC COMING OUT OF THE SIDE STREET ON THE RIGHT. ON OCTOBER 28, 2008, I PURCHASED MY FIRST VEHICLE ' A 2009 NISSAN VERSA FROM TIM DAHLE NISSAN. MY EXPERIENCE WITH TIM DAHLE NISSAN HAS BEEN BOTH FRUSTRATING AND DISCOURAGING. THE INCOMPETENCE AND LACK OF CARE EXHIBITED BY THE SALESMEN AND GENERAL MANAGER IS BEYOND BELIEF. THE DAY THAT I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE, MY SALESMAN RICH VANPATTEN DID NOT CARE TO MENTION TO ME THAT THE NISSAN VERSA DOES NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH AN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. I DISCOVERED THIS FACT WHILE READING THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND REALIZED THAT ABS IS AN OPTIONAL PACKAGE THAT A CUSTOMER MAY CHOSE TO ADD TO THEIR VEHICLE. I AM COMPLETELY ASTOUNDED THAT NISSAN HAS CHOSEN NOT TO MAKE ABS A STANDARD SAFETY FEATURE IN THE VERSA. ALTHOUGH ABS HAS NOT PROVEN TO DECREASE THE AMOUNT OF ACCIDENTS CAUSED, IT CREATES A WAY OF DRIVING AND SWERVING IN WINTER CONDITIONS THAT SOMEONE SUCH AS MYSELF, WHO HAS DRIVEN WITH ABS FOR NEARLY MY ENTIRE DRIVING CAREER, WOULD HAVE TO ADJUST TO WHEN DRIVING A CAR WITHOUT ABS. SEEING AS HOW AN ABS PACKAGE COSTS ONLY $250 TO INCLUDE IN THE VEHICLE'S PRICE, I WOULD HAVE HAPPILY ADDED THIS PACKAGE TO MY NISSAN VERSA. I AIRED MY CONCERN WITH MY SALESMAN RICH VANPATTEN AND THE OTHER SALESMAN- WHO PRESSURED ME INTO BELIEVING THAT THE ONLY WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WOULD REQUIRE ME TO PAY $5,000 FOR A VEHICLE UPGRADE. I ATTEMPTED TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER RONNIE DUNN AND HE FAILED TO RETURN ANY OF MY CALLS. FINALLY, AFTER MAKING AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE "SALES MANAGER" CLAYTON, HE FAILED TO SHOW UP TO THE APPOINTMENT TO DISCUSS THE MATTER AND NEVER CALLED TO EXPLAIN HIS RUDE AND DISTASTEFUL BEHAVIOR. I FEEL THAT IT WAS MY RIGHT TO KNOW ABOUT THE ABS OPTION AND TO DECIDE, FOR MYSELF, IF IT WAS AN OPTION THAT I NEEDED FOR MY VEHICLE. RATHER, I WAS TOLD MY SEVERAL SALES ASSOCIATES THAT IT IS USELESS AND THAT I WOULD SIMPLY NEED TO CHANGE MY DRIVING BEHAVIOR.
