TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 TO 60 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO FISHTAIL AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AS NORMAL. NOT BEING ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, SHE THEN CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND ROLLED OVER. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE DUE TO A PENDING INVESTIGATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING A NEW 2010 NISSAN VERSA IN 2011 I NOTICED THAT EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT ABOUT 15 PLUS MPH THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS. IF THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED THERE WOULD BE A HEAVY FELT VIBRATION. TWICE IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE FRONT END SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP THREE TIMES AND DIFFERENT PARTS WERE REPLACED/REPAIRED. THEY DID NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. ON THE FOURTH AND SUBSEQUENT TIMES I COMPLAINED, THEY SAID IT WAS THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM SELF CHECK SYSTEM CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND IT WAS NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP (JEFF WYLER NISSAN OF FAIRFIELD .OHIO REFUSED TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT IT WAS NORMAL PER THE DEALERSHIP. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO TEST DRIVE OR CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS LIKE THE NISSAN CORPORATION LIKES TO OPERATE THE SAME WAY AS GENERAL MOTORS DOES IN MY OPINION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEVER TO RECLINE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK AND FORTH WAS FAULTY. THE SEAT WOULD RECLINE ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CHAMPION NISSAN (24111 CREEKSIDE RD, VALENCIA, CA 91355, (855) 995-7915), BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTED THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE SEATS TWICE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THE SEATS, BUT THE LEVER MECHANISM THAT WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT REQUESTED TO HAVE THE SEATS AND LEVER REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IT WOULD BE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE DOOR HANDLE WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,843.
I AM VERY MUCH MOTIVATED TO WRITE ABOUT NISSAN VERSA, THE COMPACT/ECONOMY VEHICLE. I HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 8 HOURS AND ON BOTH OCCASIONS IT WAS THE SAME DREADFUL EXPERIENCE. THIS CAR LACKS 'BALANCING ABILITY', SPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAYS, THAT MEANS, IF U DRIVE IT AT UNTIL 40MPH, IT IS FINE & NORMAL, BEYOND THAT IT STARTS SHAKING SO BAD THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN BLINK YOUR EYE OR AFFORD TO TAKE UR HANDS AWAY FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FIRST TIME, I DROVE THIS CAR, I SUFFERED THE FIRST ACCIDENT OF MY LIFE...AND I PRAY TO GOD THAT NOONE EVER EXPERIENCES THAT KIND OF AN IMBALANCING. BASICALLY THE CAR TOTALLY LOST CONTROL & I COULD DO NOTHING TO STABILIZE THE CAR. THAT HAPPENED IN DELAWARE. YESTERDAY, APRIL 30, I WAS DRIVING IT ON INDIANA DUNES HIGHWAY & I-94, CHICAGO, PERHAPS IT WAS THE WIND, BUT IT ONLY MADE THE SHAKING MUCH WORSE. I HAD A FRIEND DRIVE IT AND HE WAS SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. DRIVING THIS CAR IS LIKE RIDING ON A ROLLER COASTER RIDE, BUT I WAS THE ONE BEHIND THE WHEELS. IF I HAD THE MONEY, I WOULD DEFINITELY GO AHEAD AND SUE NISSAN FOR EVEN RELEASING THIS VEHICLE OUT FOR ROADS. DRIVING A NISSAN VERSA IS LIKE KAYAKING THROUGH THE MIRAGE OF GORGES.....YOU HAVE TO BE ATTENTIVE ALL THE TIME, IT TENDS TO SLIP TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WONT STAY IN ONE LANE. IT IS LIKE TRYING TO KEEP YOUR BOAT/ TUBE IN ONE STRAIGHT POSITION WHILE THE BOAT KEEPS FLYING AWAY...EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. I SWEAR IF I HAD SUFFERED ANOTHER ACCIDENT YESTERDAY, I WOULD HAVE SUED NISSAN BLINDLY, WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT. AND I AM SURPRISED HOW COME NOONE HAS SUED THEM YET FOR SELLING A PLASTIC TOY FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS DURING A RAIN STORM WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED INTERMITTENTLY APPROXIMATELY EVERY 30 SECONDS. THE TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM) LIGHT REFUSES TO GO OFF. THE TIRE PRESSURE IS CORRECT PER MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS AND IT HAS BEEN CHECKED MONTHLY. WHEN THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE REACHES 80 DEGREES F., THE LIGHT SHUTS OFF. LIVING IN NEW ENGLAND, THE LIGHT IS ON MOST OF THE TIME. IRONICALLY, 3 MONTHS INTO CAR OWNERSHIP, WE HAD A FLAT TIRE AND THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 14,500 MILES ON IT. *TR
WHEN DRIVING I CAN HEAR A CHIRPING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA; WHEN ACCELERATING SOUNDS LIKE COMING FROM THE FRONT RIGHT HAND POSSIBLY THE TIRES; THE BREAKS DO NOT REACT ON COMMAND; THE SHIFTER MATERIAL ON THE AUTOMOBILE DELAMINATED; BUTTON ON SEAT BELT CAME OFF; DRIVER REAR DOOR COMING APART; ENGINE LIGHT IS ON; EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH WATER INTRUSION FROM OUTSIDE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, NOISE FROM STEERING COLUMN, ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS RADIO NOT WORKING; VEHICLE HAS NOT STARTED AT TIMES; REAR HATCH WOULD NOT OPEN; THE AUTOMOBILE'S GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACE; WHEN I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF THE RECALL I WENT TO NISSAN OF BAKERSFIELD AND ASKED ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THIS AUTOMOBILE AND THEY STATED "WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT RECALL NOTICE". WE CAN NOT HELP YOU AND THEY SENT ME HOME. THE VEHICLE JERKED WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER'S WINDOW WAS INOPERABLE, THE GASKET WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. ALSO,THE BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED. MY 2010 NISSAN VERSA, WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT, HAS STEEL BELTS POPPING OUT THE SIDEWALLS OF THE CONTINENTAL CONTIPRO CONTACT P195/55 R16 TIRES. BOTH FRONT TIRES HAVE BELTS POPPING OUT. THE DEALER (EMPIRE NISSAN) HAS NOT OFFERED AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION. THE TIRES ARE SUPPOSEDLY 60,000 MILE TIRES, BUT THE DEALER, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE MANUFACTURER, IS ONLY OFFERING 25% OFF LIST PRICE TO REPLACE WITH ANOTHER SET OF CONTINENTAL (CRAP) TIRES. THERE HAS NOT YET BEEN AN ACCIDENT, BUT I AM UNCERTAIN OF HOW DANGEROUS THIS CONDITION IS. I JUST NOTICED THE PROBLEM 4 DAYS AGO. I HAVE PHOTOS. *TR
MY 2010 NISSAN VERSA 4 DOOR HATCHBACK WITH MANUAL DOOR LOCKS: ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAN BE UNLOCKED FROM THE OUTSIDE. I HAD TO WAIT 3 HOURS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO ACCESS MY CAR BECAUSE A VAN WAS PARKED TO CLOSE ON THE DRIVER SIDE. *TR
2010 NISSAN VERSA. CONSUMER STATES UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED ENGINE ACCELERATION WHILE HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE SHIFTED THE GEAR TO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE RAN AT AN UNUSUALLY HIGH RPM FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS BEFORE RETURNING TO ITS NORMAL 1000 RPM. THE SECOND TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, THE CONSUMER WAS ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH THE TRAFFIC FROM A PARALLEL PARKING SPOT AND WHILE HOLDING THE FOOT BRAKE, HE FELT THE ENGINE STRAINING UNTIL HE SHIFTED THE GEAR TO NEUTRAL WHICH ALLOWED THE ENGINE TO ACCELERATE BRIEFLY AND THEN IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. FINALLY, TWO WEEKS AGO, WHEN THE CONSUMER SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND WHEN HE SHIFTED BACK TO NEUTRAL THE RPM'S ROSE TO OVER 3,000 BEFORE SETTLING BACK TO NORMAL. *JB
FELT UNSAFE SINCE PURCHASE 7/2010 DEALER REFUSED SAME DAY TO SWAP. INSPECTED REPEATEDLY TOLD NOTHING WRONG. 2/2011 BEGAN REPURCHASE WITH NISSAN TOLD NOTHING WRONG. NISSAN REG REP TRIED BRIBE NEW TIRES TO DROP REPURCHASE BEFORE INSPECTION THEN LEFT. DEALER WITHHELD DOCUMENTS. REP SAID MY VEHICLE HAD WARRANTY ON CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH IT DIDNT. WENT TO 2ND DEALER FOUND TRANSMISSION BAD UNDER WARRANTY THEN REPLACED. NEXT DAY TRANSMISSION EXPLODED,FLUID ON BACK END+ROOF OF CAR. ON INTERSTATE SMOKE CAME THROUGH AIR DUCTS COULDN'T SEE. FIRE UNDER HOOD. NISSAN HAD SENT CRACKED TRANSMISSION. SAID WOULD REPURCHASE AND REP SAID PRICE NO MATTER GET WHAT YOU NEED FOR DISABILITY NISSAN AND DEALER WILL COVER DIFFERENCE. I SAID AFRAID OF ANOTHER VERSA,NOTHING CLOSE IN PRICE OR DESIGN. REP SAID WE'LL COVER IT. NEW REP TOOK OVER RETRACTED EVERYTHING AND LAUGHED AT BREAST CANCER. TOLD HER WANTED SUPERVISOR AND SHE GAVE ME COWORKER [XXX]. SAID HE SPOKE FOR NISSAN NO ONE OVER HIM. FOR 3 MOS SAID DIDN'T CARE. DEALER KEPT ME HOSTAGE 6 HOURS AND SAID I HAD TO SIGN AND BUY A CAR OR HAD TO WALK STRIPPED OF RENTAL CAR. COST TO BE DECIDED LATER PICK WHAT I WANTED/THOUGH I SAID HAD NO MONEY,RETURNED RENTAL TIRED OF BLACKMAIL OVER NO TRANSPORTATION. PAID FOR OWN RENTAL RAN OUT OF MONEY. TACKETT CONSTANTLY CHANGED DEAL. EVERY TIME I ACCEPTED HE CHANGED OFFER. AGAIN ACCEPTED HELD ME 2HRS THEN SENT 100MI ROUND TRIP BACK HOME TO SIGN A FAX. LOST ANOTHER WEEK, AND HE KEPT SENDING WRONG PAPERS TO SIGN. SAT IN NISSAN HQ FOR 3 HRS.TACKETT SUPR FOUND OUT AND TACKETT CALL ME,I REPLIED YOU ALREADY SAID YOU CAN'T ADDRESS ISSUES.SENT CERTIFIED LETTERS TO BOARD BLOCKED BY A [XXX]. FORCED INTO VEHICLE I CANT DRIVE AND NOW NEED NECK SURGERY. TWICE FILED OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINTS WITH NISSAN. SUPRS ASSIGNED TO 2ND CASE CLOSED WITHOUT CONSENT 3RD IGNORED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, APPROACHING A STOP SIGNAL. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKID AND FISHTAIL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DEFLATED THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE FOUR TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING A NEW VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 275.
THE 2010 NISSAN VERSA 4 DOOR HATCHBACK WITH MANUAL DOOR LOCKS: ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAN BE UNLOCKED FROM THE OUTSIDE. PASSENGERS MUST BE LEFT UNATTENDED AS THE DRIVER ENTERS THE VEHICLE, REACHES ACROSS TO UNLOCK THE REMAINING 3 DOORS, AND THEN EXITS TO ESCORT PASSENGERS TO THE VARIOUS DOORS. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE TO POSE A RISK TO THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE TO THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,040.
