DRIVING 65-70 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHILE RAINING. LOST QUITE A BIT OF POWER AND STARTED TO STAHL. MESSAGE FLASHED ACROSS MESSAGE SCREEN STATING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". HAD TO PULL OF TO EMERGENCY SHOULDER LANE. LEFT CAR ON THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY FOR A LITTLE OVER 24 HOURS. CAME BACK NEXT DAY AND MY CAR STARTED RIGHT UP WITH NO PROBLEMS. THIS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME OUTCOME. AROUND 4 WEEKS AGO, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, NO RAIN THIS TIME, I HEARD THE CHIME AND MESSAGE SCREEN FLASHED "POWER STEERING." MY POWER STEERING WAS IMMEDIATELY LOST, I MANAGED TO MERGE OVER TO LEFT LANE AND INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. WHILE MERGING, THE SCREEN CHIMED ONCE AGAIN BUT NOW DISPLAYING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". MY CAR STALLED AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. ONCE STOPPED, I PULLED OUT KEY FROM IGNITION. REPLACED KEY IN EFFORTS TO RESTART MY VEHICLE. THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN OVER. MY VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AT THIS POINT. AROUND 10 HOURS LATER, RETURNED TO VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY SHOULDER, CAR STARTED RIGHT UP ON THE FIRST TURN OF KEY. THIS EXACT INCIDENT HAPPENED 4 DAYS LATER WITH SAME OUTCOME. RECENTLY LAST WEEK AND THIS WEEK, WHILE STARTING MY CAR, ONCE I PLACE MY VEHICLE IN REVERSE. MY MESSAGE SCREEN WILL CHIME AND DISPLAY "POWER STEERING" AND LOOSE ALL STEERING CAPABILITIES. I CAN FIX THIS MYSELF BY TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, REMOVING KEY, WAIT ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND TRY AGAIN RESULTING IN NORMAL USE. *TR
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING WHEEL JAMMING UP WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH IS A VERY SCARY ORDEAL.THE 1ST TIME IT HAPPENED I ALMOST HIT A CITY BUS AND HAD MI INFANT IN THE CAR. CALLED GM WHICH ADVISED ME IF IT WAS THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WHICH THEY FIXED IN APRIL 2013 NOW IT AUGUST 2013 IN IM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME OUT OF NO WHERE, I WAS GOING 65MPH WHICH STEERING THE CAR WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DO WHILE OTHER CARS ARE GOING AT A FAST RATE I WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE. CALLED GM ONCE AGAIN HAD MY CAR TAKEN TO A SHOP NOW I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE MOTOR IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THAT IS NOT COVERED OR ON RECALL.. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM OVER THE INTERNET AND GM HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT... GM WONT DO SOMETHING UNTIL SOMEONE DIES. BUT I WILL BE GOING TO THE BBB, HELP ME [XXX] AND STARTING A PETITION SOMETHING MUST BE DONE SO I WILL TAKE MATTERS INTO MY OWN HANDS. WE FIRST STARTED NOTICING A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL AFTER ADDING GAS TO THE G6 BACK IN APRIL. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST RESIDUAL FUMES FROM HAVING RECENTLY ADDING GAS. AFTER THIS WE NOTICED THE SMELL ALL THE TIME WHETHER WE WERE ADDING GAS OR NOT. WE KNOW THAT THE GAS IS LEAKING OUT BECAUSE WE CAN PUT GAS IN THE CAR, THE MESSAGE WILL SHOW 100 MILES TO EMPTY, DRIVE 2-3 MILES AND IT DROPS DOWN TO 75 MILES TO EMPTY. THIS ISSUE HAS STEADILY GOTTEN WORSE AND WE ARE CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY WHEN IN THE VEHICLE. WE CALLED OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR A LEAKING FUEL PUMP ON THE G5 MODEL, THE 2007 G6, AND SEVERAL OTHER MODELS BUT NOT THE 2006 G6. IN OUR INTERNET SEARCH WE HAVE FOUND A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF OTHER 2006 G6 OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE AND RECEIVING THE SAME ANSWER FROM THE DEALERSHIP. A VEHICLE THAT IS LEAKING GAS IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. GM NEEDS TO INCLUDE THE 2006 G6 IN THE RECALL TO PREVENT LOSS OF LIFE. *TR
AIR BAG ERROR MESSAGE SHOWS. NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. DEALER SAYS CORROSION ON COILS AND WIRES. THIS IS ALSO AFFECTING THE CRUISE CONTROL. *TR
MY CAR CONSTANTLY SMELLS OF GAS AND IS VERY HARD TO START. I CAN'T PARK IT IN MY GARAGE BECAUSE IT MAKES MY HOME SMELL LIKE GAS FUMES. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALSO ON. I HAVE CHANGED THE GAS CAP SEVERAL TIMES AND THIS HAS NOT HELPED. *TR

THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR / MODULE LOCKED UP ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK. A REAL SAFETY ISSUE, THAT G.M.C HAD RECALLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WOULD ONLY FIX PART OF PROBLEM AFTER SAYING THEY WOULD FIX ALL OF IT, SO THE CAR STILL HAS THE PROBLEM. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AND HAD NOT MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT, WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT! *TR

PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM OF MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 KEPT GOING OUT. EVEN AFTER CHANGING THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. ONCE THE WIRES ON THE BACK OF THE CONNECTOR WERE IN A CERTAIN POSITION THE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON ONLY TO GO RIGHT BACK OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE BRAKE LAMPS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A DIELECTRIC LUBRICANT NEEDED TO BE APPLIED TO THE CONNECTOR TO PREVENT CORROSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V036000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). BRAKE LIGHT CIRCUIT MALFUNCTIONING LIGHT ON WITHOUT BRAKES PRESSED GO OFF WHEN PRESSED CAN NOT SHIFT VEHICLE FROM PARK WITHOUT PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL HARD. INTERMITTENT PROBLEM SAFETY ISSUE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE VEHICLES. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN SHE TOOK HER FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
DRIVING DOWN ROAD, POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING CAR TO NOT TURN SHARP CORNER EASILY ALMOST GOING INTO DITCH. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED AND I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR OTHER G6 2206 BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHERS THAT WERE RECALLED. ALSO I AM HAVING AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIME GETTING MY CAR OUT OF PARK. I HAVE TO PUSH THE BRAKE WITH A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF FORCE AND HOPE THAT IS COMES OUT OF PARK. AGAIN G6 2006 WAS RECALLED AND MY VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL INTO THOSE VIN NUMBERS. IT IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING TO KNOW THAT SAFETY AND FAULTY PIECES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL THAT SAME YEAR MODEL AND MAKE WERE COVERED. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I CAN DO BESIDES CONTACTING AN ATTORNEY TO HAVE THESE ITEMS FIXED UNDER THE RECALLS THAT WERE ISSUED FOR G6 2006 PONTIACS. THANK YOU *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND A HUMMING SOUND EMITTED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY BECAME STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHILE IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT SHE NEEDED TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V417000 (AIR BAGS ). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
STARTED NOTICING A VERY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER A WHILE THE SMELL BECAME STRONGER AND WE COULD SMELL IT A DAY AFTER WE HAD EVEN DRIVEN THE CAR AND THE CAR STARTED TAKING LONGER AND LONGER TO START. APPARENTLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND IT IS ACTUALLY LEAKING GASOLINE AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. WE HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THIS CAR RELIGIOUSLY SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. WE DID SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL AND OTHER YEAR MODELS. ACCORDING TO OUR RESEARCH AND CONTACT WITH GM THE 2006 G6 HAS NOT BEEN ADDED TO THE CURRENT RECALL 09V-419 WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE AS THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND OCCURS JUST FROM DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AROUND A 25MPH CURVE, POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AT THE END OF THE TURN. BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF CONTROL, I HIT A GUARD RAIL. NO INJURIES OR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. *TR

AS MANY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE ARE EXPERIENCING..TROUBLE GETTING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR FROM PARK,HAVE TO STEP ON THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE LIGHTS WORK IN THE REVERSE DIRECTION AND 3RD BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKES..HELP PLEASE..THIS IS A MATTER OF SAFETY AND MAY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH..MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT LISTED ON THE GM RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON EVEN WHEN I'M NOT BRAKING, SOMETIMES DON'T TURN ON WHEN I AM BRAKING. ALSO, CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NOTICED A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GARAGE. THE ODOR WAS ALSO NOTICEABLE IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,568.
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. WARNING SOUND CAME ON AND "POWER STEERING" ILLUMINATED ON MY SCREEN. I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR ABOUT 50 MILES LIKE THIS. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS AN ELECTRIC ASSIST POWER STEERING FAILURE AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THAT THESE CARS HAD A FAULTY STEERING UNITS AND THEY SHOULD REPLACE FOR NOTHING. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE REPAIR WOULD COST APPROX $600.00 AND THAT THE MILEAGE HAD EXPIRED FOR THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM 20K MILES OVER THE 150K CUT OFF. NO ONE NOTIFIED ME THAT THIS WAS FAULTY OR I WOULD HAVE TOOK IN FOR THE REPAIR BEFORE THE CUT OFF.. FAULTY IS FAULTY NO MATTER HOW MANY MILES THE CAR HAS!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS! *TR

HE HAD TO START THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIME BEFORE THE POWER STEERING ACTIVATED. AFTER THE POWER STEERING WAS ACTIVATED THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,453.
BRAKE LIGHTS ENGAGE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED BUT DISENGAGE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED. THE SYMPTOMS STARTED AT THE SAME TIME THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED AT HIGHWAY SPEED. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT IS DIM EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE BULB, ALSO THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL EVEN AFTER REPLACING THAT LIGHT AS WELL. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON FOR AN HOUR AND WENT OUT. IT DID NOT COME BACK ON FOR A FEW DAYS, AND CONTINUED TO BE INTERMITTENT. NOW THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" MASSAGE IS BEING DISPLAYED. THE CARS LISTED IN THIS RECALL ARE 2006 PONTIAC G6 64100131 - 64146959 ( THAT'S THE LAST 8 DIGITS OF THE VIN). OUR CAR IS IN THE 64200000'S. I BE-LEAVE THIS CAR IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS THE OTHERS DUE TO THE FACT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. THIS RECALL NEED TO BE LOOKED AT AGAIN BEFORE SERIOUS INJURIES OCCUR. ALSO NO NOTICES WERE SENT TO US ON ANY OF THE RECALLS. GM IS REALLY LACKING IN CUSTOMER SAFETY AND CARE. WE ARE TAKING IT IN TO A GM DEALER TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. *TR
STEERING WHEEL STARTED JERKING AND THEN POWER STEERING WENT OUT. HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT BACK ON. NOW IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. OR, IF IT DOES, IT ONLY LASTS A MILE OR TWO. I THINK I SAW SOMETHING ABOUT A RECALL POSSIBLE ? *TR
POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK ON DAY WHEN I STARTED MY CAR. I HAD TO RESTART SEVERAL TIMES. SINCE THEN POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH, STEERING WHEEL TURNS LEFT ON ITS OWN,( WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING STILL), AND JERKS LEFT TO RIGHT CONTINUOUSLY. BUT ONCE THE CAR THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF THE STEERING WHEEL TURNS RIGHT ON ITS OWN AND CENTERS ITSELF. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED BACK ON THE WHEEL THEN TURNS LEFT AGAIN ON ITS OWN. I BOUGHT MY PONTIAC G6 2006 FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP IN DEC. 2011. I HAD SOME PULL IN THE STEERING WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. I HAD MY CAR CHECK FOR ALIGNMENT ISSUES, THE ROTORS CHECK AND BRAKES CHECKED. ALL WERE OK. WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC IT WAS NOTHING TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT. 5 DAYS AGO MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING REAL BAD WHEN BRAKING. SUNDAY JAN. 6,2013 FOR THE FIRST TIME MY POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING . WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER. LUCKILY MANAGED TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF CAR. I TURNED OFF MY CAR WAITED A MINUTE AND WHEN I TURNED BACK ON MY CAR I HAD MY STEERING BACK. I COULD OF HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND I HAVE A TEENAGE DRIVER WHO ALSO DRIVES MY CAR. IT OCCURRED AGAIN ON MON JAN. 7,2013. STEERING WAS OK THEN JUST OUT OF NOWHERE STEERING STOPS WORKING AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. I CONTACTED GM DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT ON RECALL. AND THAT THEY ONLY HAVE POWER STEERING ASSIST COVERED UP TO 150,000 MILES. I NOTICED THERE WAS RECALL ON THE 2005 PONTIAC G6 POWER STEERING. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF COMPLAINTS OVER THE SAME ISSUE I HAVE ON THE 2006 PONTIAC G6. I AM WONDERING WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. *TR
2006 PONTIAC G6 STARTED EMITTING A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL REGARDLESS OF FUEL LEVEL OR IF THE CAR WAS RUNNING OR NOT. FIRST VISUAL INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THERE WAS NOT A STEADY LEAK OF FUEL ON THE GROUND UNDER THE CAR. THE FUEL ODOR PROGRESSIVELY INTENSIFIED AND UPON THE SECOND MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION THERE IS A LEAK FROM THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND ABOVE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL , ETC) AND CONTACTED TWO LOCAL DEALERS WHO HAD NOT YET RECEIVED INSTRUCTIONS TO REMEDY THE RECALLED VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

AGAIN, PONTIAC HAD A PARTIAL RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SAME PART, AND THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER MODELS, BUT NO RECALL FOR THE 2006 G6. SINCE LEAKING FUEL IS A HAZARD TO MY FAMILY I WAS FORCED TO GET THIS FIXED, AND PONTIAC DID NOT REIMBURSE OR HELP WITH THE COST. AGAIN, WHY IS PONTIAC NOT BEING REQUIRED TO RECALL THESE FAULTY CARS THAT ARE DANGEROUS TO THE FAMILIES WHO ARE DRIVING THEM? *TR
