TAKATA RECALL MY POWER STEERING LIGHT IS ON AND IT IS VERY HARD TO TURN WHEEL. SEEN THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR A FEW YEARS BACK IN REGARDS TO STEERING ISSUES. NEED HELP PLEASE
IN 2014 I RECIEVED A RECALL ON MY PONTIAC G6 2006 TO INFORM ME OF A FAULTY POWER STEERING. SO I TOOK MY CAR TO A GM DEALERSHIP TO GET THE RECALL FIXED. AT THAT TIME I WASN'T EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY POWER STEERING. NOW IT'S BEEN 5 YEARS LATER MY CAR POWER STEERING IS LOCKING UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS WHILE DRIVING AS WELL AS, WHILE IN PARK. I'M GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM GM MY CAR IS NEEDED FOR WORKING AND SCHOOL BUT. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT DUE TO THE FEAR THR CAR MAY LOCK UP ON ME AGAIN. FEB 22, 2019 WHILD PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE MY VEHICLE LOST POWER TO THE STEERING WHEEL MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL. THANKFULLY NO OTHER CARS WHERE COMING, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OUT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON... I PRAYED THE WHILE TIME WHILE DRIVING HOME WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD SON IN THE BACK SEAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE STEERING ABILITY SEIZED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE DRIVING HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER DRIVEN TO GLOCKNER OF IRONTON (911 S 3RD STREET, IRONTON, OH 45638) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED IN 2014 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECURRENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. CAR WAS MANUFACTURED 22 DAYS PRIOR TO APRIL 18, 2006 MANUFACTURE DATE FOR G6'S COVERED UNDER RECALL NUMBER 15V064000. SOMETIMES WON'T WORK AT ENGINE START-UP, THEN BEGINS WORKING; SOMETIMES STOPS WORKING WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. UNPREDICTABLE BUT POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME IT OCCURS. HAS BEEN RECURRING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. DATE SPECIFICATION BELOW DOES NOT APPLY SO I ENTERED THE LAST DATE OF OCCURRENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. DURING THE FAILURE, THE MESSAGE "POWER STEERING" DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (HUBBARD CHEVROLET, 2635 NORTH MAIN ST, HUBBARD, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN 2015 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING) FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,080. *TT*JB
MY STEERING WHEEL IS GOING CRAZY AND SOMETIME IT JUST DOES WORK LIKE MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS ALMOST HAD A REAL BAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS UNKNOWN PROBLEM
THIS IS A 2006 PONTIAC G6 WITH THE 3.5L LX9 V6 ENGINE. AT 90,000 MILES I AM HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS (AUTOMATIC). THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. THE CAR REVERSES NORMALLY. ALL MAINTENANCE IS DONE BY MYSELF OR THE DEALER. I CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WITH GENUINE GM PARTS AND FLUID. I NOTICED THE FLUID WAS SLIGHTLY DISCOLORED AND VERY TINY PIECES OF METAL WERE IN THE PAN. THE TRANSMISSION STILL SLIPPED IN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR AFTER CHANGING THE FLUID. OBVIOUSLY I WANT TO AVOID PUTTING IN A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. I WANT TO CHECK THE COMPUTER AND AND ANY ELECTRICAL PIECES THAT CORRESPOND WITH THE TRANSMISSION FIRST BEFORE I DECIDE. AS A SIDE NOTE,I DID BRING THE VEHICLE TO GM FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS A CODE FOR A TRANSMISSION POSITION SENSOR. HOWEVER I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE ON MANY OCCASIONS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START WHICH IS WHAT THAT SENSOR IS SUPPOSE TO DO SO I KNOW IT ISN'T THE SENSOR.

THE CONTACT POWERED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT CALLED WENTWORTH MOTORS CHEVROLET AT (139 FRANKLIN ST, DANSVILLE, NY 14437, (585) 204-0905) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,444.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURS DURING OPERATION (THAT SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES THE MUSCLE STRENGTH NEEDED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURS IN BOTH HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES OCCURS DURING LOW SPEED TURNS.
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME! I WAS TERRIFIED! I COULD HARDLY MOVE THE CAR TO PULL OVER. IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF IT USUALLY HELPS BUT IT HAPPENS AGAIN. ALSO, WHEN CAR IS IN IDLE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES.
THE LIGHT POWER STEERING IS ON. THE STEERING WHEEL IS HARD TO TURN. I BELIEVE IT IS THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE, I'M AFRAID IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE. MY CAR WAS PARKED AND WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE OFF FROM MY DRIVE WAY THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM AND MY CAR HAS BEEN PARKED SINCE THEN. I HAD TAKEN IT LAST YEAR TO A SHOP IN LAS CRUCES TO FIX 3 RECALLS THAT MY CAR HAD. THAT IS WHY I'M WONDERING WHATS GOING ON WITH MY CAR.
MY CARS ELECTRIC SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY WENT OUT. MY HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM COMPLETELY WENT OUT . ITS EXTREMELY HARD JUST TO GET MY CAR OUT OF PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY KEYS GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND ITS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE YOU CAN'T LEAVE YOUR KEYS IN THE IGNITION, OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE TO LOCK YOUR DOOR SO NO ONE WILL STEAL YOUR CAR WHILE YOUR SLEEPING. AND THE MOST DANGEROUS PART OR WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MY CAR IS, WHEN DRIVING THE BRAKE MEDAL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MASH WHILE DRIVING EVEN WITH TWO FEET. AND MY MORNING COMMUTE TO WORK REQUIRES ME TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE HAD RECALL WORK DONE TO MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 BEFORE DUE TO MY ELECTRIC SYSTEM FAILING AND THESE ARE ALL OF THE SAME SIGNS OF THE RECALL. AND I WOULDN'T DARE LET MY FAMILY RIDE IN THIS CAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CONTACT HEARD THREE DING CHIMES AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE IDLING, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY MOVED LEFT TO RIGHT. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE CHIME SOUND RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A FRIEND'S RESIDENCE AND LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED DAVE HALLMAN CHEVROLET AT (814) 452-6731 (LOCATED AT 1925 STATE ST, ERIE, PA 16501) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. ..*BF
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IN CAR IS BECOMING FAULTY AND UNSTABLE. WHEN LEFT IN AN IDLE POSITION, STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE TERRIBLY, EITHER THE WHOLE RIDE OR UNTIL IT LOCKS UP, AT WHICH POINT POWER STEERING IS LOST AND BECOMES HARD TO TURN. I COULD BE JUST TURNING THE CAR ON, SITTING IDLY, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING WILL DO THIS. I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR WHILE TURNING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO TRY AND "FIX" THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY, AND THAT'S NOT EVEN GUARANTEED, IT'S IFFY.
MY CAR WAS FINE DRIVING TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE AND WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE AFTER 2.5 HOURS OF BEING THERE, A MESSAGE ON MY DASH CAME UP SAYING MY POWER STEERING WAS AT FAULT. NOW IT IS COMING BACK ON AND GOING OUT AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. APPARENTLY, MY SPECIFIC CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I FEEL AS THOUGH ANOTHER RECALL SHOULD BE OPENED FOR THIS BECAUSE IT APPEARS I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS CAR STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE.
I LOST MY POWER STEERING GM RECALL NUMBER 14772 WHICH IS THE SAME THAT I GOT SERVICED A WHILE BACK. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE ANOTHER RECALL DUE TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS ME. I FEEL THAT THE NEW PART IS JUST AS FAULTY.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF, TAKE THE KEY OUT AND PUT IT BACK IN TURN IT ON TO GET IT TO UNLOCK. SOMETIMES IT WILL UNLOCK THE FIRST TRY OTHER TIMES IT TAKES TWO OR THREE TIMES. ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL WILL MOVE BACK AND FORTH ON ITS OWN WHILE IDLING.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM A SHOPPING TRIP ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND A LIGHT FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATING MY POWER STEERING WAS AT FAULT. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 45 MPH AND HAD DIFFICULTY STEERING. I SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD TO CHECK WHAT HAPPENED. IT THEN OCCURRED TO ME THAT THIS WAS ELECTRONIC STEERING AND NOT HYDRAULIC. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME WITH OUT ANY ADDITIONAL ISSUES.
WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME FROM SHOPPING, MY POWER STEERING FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAD STEERING, BUT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. I WAS MOVING AND ON A HIGHWAY.
THE TRANSMISSION CABLE LINK HAS A SMALL PLASTIC BUSHING ON IT WHICH IN MY CASE BROKE OFF COMPLETELY AND WHILE MY CAR WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE. THAT MADE MY CAR BECOME UNABLE TO START AS WELL AS ROLL BY ITSELF ALMOST CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE AND COST ME MONEY IN TOWING AND CAR REPAIR FEES FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL REGARDING A SIMILAR ISSUE LIKE THIS WITH GENERAL MOTORS
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY SENSOR CAME ACROSS THE RADIO AND STATED 'POWER STEERING'. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND BEGAN TO TURN THE CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY STIFF AS IF IT WAS LOCKED. MY STEERING WAS UNABLE TO LOCK, THEREFORE MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED HOME BECAUSE IT WASN'T DRIVABLE.
POWER STEERING IS GOING IN AND OUT DURING DRIVING
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING PUMP IS GOING OUT. WHEN BACKING OUT FROM A PARKED POSITION THE STEERING IS TIGHT. RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE STEERING IS SO LOOSE THAT I CAN HARDLY CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING I WILL GO TO EXELLERATE AND MY RPM GAGE WILL FLAIR UP AND THEN CRASH AND MY CAR WILL DIE OUT AND I WIL HAVE TO QUICKLY GET OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT GETTING HIT AND TRY TO RESTART MY CAR IF THE RPM GAGE DOESN'T INGAGE THE CHANCES OF IT DYING WHILE DRIVING IS LESS BUT WHEN IT DOES I KNOW AT SOME POINT THE CAR WILL DIE. IT'S HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SEMI TRUCKS DRIVING BEHIND ME.

BYRIDER, 575 SAGAMORE PKWY S, LAFAYETTE, IN 47905, (765) 449-8200) SCHEDULED A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT WEEK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WHEN I CHECKED MY VIN ONLINE IT WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL.
I AM WRITING ABOUT OUR 2006 PONTIAC G6. IT HAD ALREADY HAD THE RECALL (#14772-ELECTRIC POWER STEERING) WORK COMPLETED IN 2016 WHEN WE EXPERIENCED SOME STEERING ISSUES. ON OCTOBER 29, 2018, THE VERY SAME PART THAT HAD BEEN REPLACED IN THE RECALL FAILED AGAIN, PULLING MY HUSBAND INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS HE WAS RETURNING HOME FROM WORK. FORTUNATELY, HE AVOIDED CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. WE HAVE TALKED WITH TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, THE ONE THAT DID THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPAIR, AND ONE WE TRUSTED TO BETTER DEAL WITH THE ISSUE, AND ALSO WITH GM, WHO I FIRST TAGGED IN A TWEET, THEN THROUGH MESSAGING ON TWITTER. THEY OPENED CASE #8-4778293416. I HAD SOME MEDICAL WORK DONE RECENTLY, SO THE WORK HAS HAD TO BE PUT OFF LONGER THAN WE PREFER, BUT ONCE WE TOOK THE CAR TO DINSDALE CHEVROLET IN GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VERY SAME PART THAT WAS REPLACED PER THE RECALL WAS WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, AND IT WILL COST US $715 TO GET THE REPAIR. WE HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE, AND LEARNED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALSO HAD THE RECALL DONE PROPERLY, AND HAD THE PART FAIL AGAIN, ONLY TO LEARN THAT GM WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL A SECOND TIME. NOW, IF THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT REQUIRED A RECALL, BUT THE 'FIX' IS ONLY TEMPORARY, THEY ARE NOT REALLY 'FIXING' THE PROBLEM, ARE THEY? THAT'S LIKE MORE OF A BANDAGE, NOT A REPAIR, IF YOU ASK ME, AND EVERY OTHER PERSON WHO HAS BEEN PLACED INTO A POTENTIALLY HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO FIND OUT WHETHER PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES AS A RESULT OF THIS 'TEMPORARY' REPAIR. I'M ANGRY THAT GM IS MAKING A CONSCIOUS CHOICE TO NOT HONOR THIS RECALL REPAIR, AND I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR A FAILURE OF ONE OF THEIR PARTS, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS ALREADY FOUND TO HAVE A DEFECT. I AM ATTACHING THE SERVICE ORDER FOR THE FIRST RECALL WORK THAT WAS DONE. I CAN PROVIDE THE TWEET MESSAGES IF REQUESTED.
I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WAS BECOMING IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. THE MECHANIC HOOKED IT UP TO THE MACHINE AND TOLD ME THAT IT HAS A BAD SENSOR WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN.

THE DEALER (ARNOLD-BAKER CHEVROLET, 619 S WASHINGTON ST, MAGNOLIA, AR 71753, (870) 626-4057) DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: 14772; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO MANUFACTURER POWER STEERING RECALL NUMBERS: N140115 AND 14772. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). MY G6 2006 3.9 GTP TRANSMISSION WONT MOVE THE CAR IN FIRST GEAR THE TRANSMISSON SHOWED NO SIGN OF GOING BAD I HAVE TO PUT CAR IN MANUAL TO DRIVE IT ALSO TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT POPS ON RANDOM TIMES FOLLOWED BY A WEIRD GRINDING NOISE.
THIS VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE REGARDING FUEL PUMP FAILURE, INCLUDING LEAKAGE WHICH PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT FIRE HAZARD. THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE HAS A CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT GENERAL MOTORS DENIED THE REPAIR TO MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE VIN NUMBER. THEY CLAIM THAT THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO THE ACTUAL VIN NUMBER. HAVING SUFFERED A FAILURE OF THE FUEL PUMP CAUSING LEAKAGE AND THEREFORE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD, I PAID TO HAVE THE REPAIRS COMPLETED AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THIS REPAIR COST ME $881.46. CLEARLY, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO GENERAL MOTORS. THIS SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY THE MANUFACTURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. ALSO, AN ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
FOR THE LAST WEEK I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION TO MY CAR THAT IT TAKES 3-5 TIMES OF ME TRYING TO START THE CAR BEFORE THE CAR WILL START. I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE THIS MORNING TO TEST EVERYTHING, MY STARTER ETC. WHEN THEY PLUGGED IT IN TO THE SUB PORT UNDERNEATH WHERE I PUT MY FEET FOR THE GAS AND BREAK IT WOULDN'T GIVE HIM ANY READINGS AND HE DID THIS 3-4 TIMES. HE SAID THE ONLY THING HE COULD SAY IT WAS COMPUTER ISSUES AND IF MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON TO GET IT TURNED OFF. I LOOKED FOR RECALLS BUT NONE CAME UP. WHAT DO I DO BECAUSE COMPUTER WORK IS VERY EXPENSIVE. ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED, BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON. WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE A REAR END ACCIDENT.
THE CAR IS LEAKING FUEL FROM THE REAR I BELIEVE IT'S A CRACK IN THE FUEL PUMP CASING, NOT TOO SURE BUT IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE FUEL PUMP AREA, UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER REAR AREA.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
GAS LEAKS FROM CRACKED FITTING ABOVE FUEL TANK. CAR SMELLS VERY BADLY OF GAS.

POWER STEERING GOES OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHEN DRIVING. MOST RECENT WAS DRIVING HOME FROM NEW YORK ON FRIDAY AND IT WENT OUT. IT COMES BACK WITHOUT WARNING AS WELL. IT IS WORKING FINE NOW. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN DRIVING AND GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS HAPPENS 95 PERCENT OF THE TIME WITH THEM WORKING THE CORRECT WAY GETTING LESS AND LESS FREQUENT.

PERFORMED RECALL NOW HAVE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY. WORRIED THE STEERING MIGHT GO OUT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOUR DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, BUT A PERMANENT REMEDY COULD NOT BE PROVIDED TO PREVENT THE FAILURES. THE VARIOUS MECHANICS REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, SPARK PLUGS, AIR FLOW SENSOR, AND BATTERY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AND FAILED TO START AND RESTART ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER COMPUTER AND THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 06 PONTIAC G6 HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING OFF WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN REOCCURRING EVEN AFTER THE DEALERSHIP "FIXED" THE PROBLEM. I'VE HAD TOO MANY CLOSE CALLS NEARLY BEING REAR ENDED WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, SLOWING DOWN OR AT A COMPLETE STOP.

A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER (JD BYRIDER, (260-209-5071) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE NOT LIABLE DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.
