I HAVE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING AND THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR ARE LISTED IN GM'S RECALL FOR THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING, HOWEVER PONTIAC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE TELLS ME MY VIN IS NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL BUT I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES (AND THEY ARE DOCUMENTED AT THE DEALERSHIP) AS THE VEHICLES THAT ARE TO BE RECALLED. GM NEEDS TO RECALL EVERY VEHICLE THAT HAS MALFUNCTIONING ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FOR THE YEARS LISTED NOT JUST BY CERTAIN DATES THEY WERE BUILT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED AND FLASHED. IN ADDITION, THE SPEED REDUCED AND THE RPMS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) IN 2014, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
ON 3-31-14 I HAD A WRECK AND THE AIR BAGS WASN'T HOOK UP AND I ALMOST COULD HAVE DIED HAD I NOT KNOWN THAT THOSE AIR BAGS WASN'T HOOK UP AND ALSO THEIR WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE KEY IGNITION TO WERE MY KEYS DIDN'T WANT TO COME OUT AND THAT HAPPEN AROUND IN LATE FEBRUARY OF 2014. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN "POWER STEERING" DISPLAYED ON MY MENU SCREEN AND THE CAR CHIMED 3 TIMES. THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED UP WHEN I WAS GOING 65MPH!! IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FLUID, PUMP, OR BELT. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! *TR
THE STEERING MAKES A CONSTANT POPPING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING OR TURNING THE WHEEL. RADIO BUTTONS, ESPECIALLY ON THE STEERING WHEEL DO NOT WORK. TRANSMISSION CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID MALFUNCTION. TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILURE. STUCK IN 2ND GEAR, REVERSE DOES NOT WORK, WONT REV PAST 4000RPM. STARTED AS A JERKY ACCELERATION, THEN WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THE NEXT DAY, LIMP MODE ENGAGED, TRANSMISSION REBUILD NEEDED ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 60K MILES! *TR
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH) WHICH MADE IT EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM PERSISTED THE NEXT TIME I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON. *TR
TRACTION FAIL. LIGHT ON TRACTION ON, , OFF, SOMETIME REAR END SPIN. *JS
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BRAKING THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT ENGAGING. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ENGAGED. POLICE OFFICER GAVE US 24 HOURS TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR WE WILL BE ISSUED A CITATION FOR DRIVING A HAZARDOUS VEHICLE. POLICE OFFICER SAID THAT THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY HARM. *TR
POWER STEERING WENT OUT. SINCE ITS ELECTRICAL ASSISTANT POWER STEERING THEIR WAS LITTLE TO NOTHING WE COULD DO OTHER THEN BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN YOU FIRST START UP THE CAR YOU HAS NO POWER STEERING AND HAD TO RESTART THE CAR A NUMBER OF TIMES BEFORE THE POWER STEERING WOULD START WORKING AGAIN. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ABLE TO BRING IT TO THE SHOP 1 WEEK LATER FOR A DIAGNOSTICS. 3/3/14 THE DIAGNOSTICS CAME BACK THAT THE POWER STEERING COLUMN AND MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I EXPRESS MY CONCERNS THAT THIS WAS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT WE COULD LOSE ALL POWER TO STEERING WHILE WE ARE DRIVING THE CAR. I ASKED HIM IF OUR CAR WAS ON THE LAST RECALL THAT GM HAD FOR THE PONTIAC G6 FOR THIS ISSUE. OUR VIN WAS NOT RECALLED. I CONTACTED GM DIRECTLY AND THEY TOLD BE THEY COULD GIVE ME A 50% DISCOUNT BECAUSE WE WERE A LOYAL CUSTOMER TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GM. TOTAL REPAIR WAS $1400. I BELIEVE GM SHOULD RECALL MY VIN NUMBERS FOR REPAIR BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS. *TR

BOTH OF MY HEAD LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT. MY FIRST HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AND THE DEALER STATED THAT MY WIRES HAD CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW TWO MONTHS LATER MY OTHER HEADLIGHT IS OUT AND I BELIEVE IT IS THE SAME ISSUE. ALSO I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH BOTH CRUISE CONTROL AND MY TURN SIGNALS AS BOTH HAVE NOT BEEN REACTING TO THE COMMAND. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS RELATED TO THE MAY 14, 2014 RECALL REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. I SPENT OVER $500 TO REPLACE THE FIRST HEADLIGHT. THE OTHER ITEMS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED YET, BUT I KNOW THEY WILL NEED TO BE AND THE COST WILL BE EXORBITANT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND HAD TO USE ALL MY STRENGTH TO STEER TO SHOULDER. AFTER EXAMINING UNDER HOOD FOR BROKEN BELTS TO NO AVAIL I GOT BACK INTO CAR AND STARTED IT TO FIND THE STEERING WORKING FINE AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE EXPERIENCED STEERING FAILURE IN PARKING LOT AND TURNED CAR OFF, AGAIN STEERING WAS FINE AFTER RESTARTING CAR.EXTREMELY SCARY , DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE WHEN STEERING GOES OUT AT SPEED !!!!!. *TR
I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE ABOUT THE POWER STEERING NOT WORKING ALL THE TIME WHICH IS KIND OF FUNNY SINCE THERE ARE INCIDENTS JUST THIS WEEK THAT LEAVE ME HAVING TO REPLACE SOME PARTS THAT ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED! THE PROFESSIONAL THAT I SPOKE WITH SAID THAT THERE SHOULD BE A PROTECTIVE COVER OVER IT TO KEEP THE PART FROM RUSTING. I FORGET THE NAME OF IT SINCE I WAS MOSTLY CONCERNED WITH HOW MUCH MORE WILL I HAVE TO PUT INTO FIXING THIS CAR!! I STARTED LOOKING ONLINE TODAY FOR RECALLS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I QUALIFY. THE EXACT ISSUE DESCRIBED IN SB-10033624-1410 OCCURRED WITH MY VEHICLE, HOWEVER GM DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN IN THE COVERAGE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE SAFELY OPERATED WITHOUT POWER STEERING. GM SHOULD BE REVIEWING THE CRITERIA USE TO IDENTIFY IMPACTED VEHICLES. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE TO A DEALER WITHOUT INJURY OR INCIDENT. HOWEVER; I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE (AND OTHER IMPACTED OWNERS) WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL NOTIFICATION. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BENEFICIAL TO HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE PRIOR TO EXPERIENCING LOSS OF STEERING. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DOING 70 MPH DOWN THE TOLL-ROAD WITH OUR 5 YEAR OLD SON WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT IN CAR. MY WIFE WAS VERY DISTRAUGHT OVER THE WHOLE ORDEAL BECASUE WHAT COULD'VE HAPPENED. I SAW GM HAD SB OUT FOR PONTIAC G6 2008. I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THIS SAFETY BULLETIN. I DON'T KNOW HOW IT CAN'T BE SINCE IT'S THE SAME ISSUE OTHER 2008 G6 ARE HAVING. GM IS FRUSTRATING ME AFTER SEEING OTHERS WITH SAME ISSUE WITH VIN NOT FALLING INTO THEIR CRITERIA TO HAVE THIS COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURE.
I WAS FOLLOWING MY WIFE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WENT OUT WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES. I DID FIND ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. I CALLED MY DEALER AND HE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME I COULD TAKE IT IN AND THEY COULD CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIR AND THEN IF A RECALL SHOWS UP ON MY VEHICLE FOR THAT, THEN I COULD TRY TO GET A REIMBURSEMENT FROM GM. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AS IT IS A RECALL ON CERTAIN 2008 G6 VEHICLES AND OBVIOUSLY MY CAR HAS THIS ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH HE DID NOT SEE A SPECIFIC RECALL ON MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO FLASH/TURN ON AND OFF UNCONTROLLABLY. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP CONCLUDED THAT MY WIRES HAS MELTED AND FUSED TOGETHER. HE TOLD ME THAT I WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WAS NOT A FIRE THAT STARTED, THAT IS HOW BAD THEY WERE MELTED. I HAD TO REPLACE WIRING HARNESS AND GET NEW BULBS, WHICH COST ME $400.00. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN ONLINE FORUMS AND I AM SCARED THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS RELATED TO THE MAY 14, 2014 RECALL REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THIS IS TERRIBLY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM BEFORE MORE INNOCENT PEOPLE GET HURT, PLEASE HELP! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR APPOINTMENT. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE AS TO WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
VEHICLE HAS AN EXTREMELY STRONG FUEL SMELL AROUND THE VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES. THIS SMELL STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE CAN'T EVEN BE PARKED IN THE GARAGE FOR FEAR OF THE GAS WATER HEATER NEARBY CAUSING THE FUMES TO IGNITE. THE GAS SMELL ESPECIALLY FILLS THE TRUNK COMPARTMENT AND EVEN SOMETIMES SMELLS INSIDE THE VEHICLE ITSELF CAUSING US TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND FOUND MANY 2007/2008 G6 OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WHICH IS A CRACKED PLASTIC SUPPLY OR RETURN PORT ON THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE G5 FUEL PUMP ISSUES OF THE SAME YEARS...I EVEN LIVE IN ONE OF THE STATES MENTIONED IN THE G5 RECALL WHERE THIS ISSUE IS SEEN. THE G5 RECALL EVEN STATES "CONSEQUENCE:FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY RESULT IN A FIRE". *TR
I HAVE A LOUD RUBBING AND CLUNKING SOUND WHEN I TURN STEERING. I HAVE READ THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE IN GM PRODUCTS. I AM WORRIED THAT MY STEERING MAY FAIL WHILE DRIVING CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE ISSUE GOES AWAY DURING DAMP WEATHER. I HAVE HAD TIE ROD ENDS AND BALL JOINTS REPLACED.
ON 2/20/2014 I WAS TRAVELING AND WAS HIT ON MY BACK RIGHT SIDE, MY CAR SPUN OUT ACROSS 3 LANES AND END UP FACING ON COMING TRAFFIC ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET WHERE MY CAR HIT AND RAN OVER A SMALL POLE. THOUGH ALL THESE EVENTS THAT OCCURRED WHICH LEFT MY CAR AT A TOTAL LOSS MY AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. I THINK THERE WAS SOMETHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH MY AIR BAGS AS WELL AS MY BRAKES, WITH DIDN'T ASSIST ME BY MUCH IF ANY. *TR
FOLLOWING MY SON TO SCHOOL NOTICED BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN HE CAME TO A STOP THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OFF. ANOTHER INCIDENT DRIVING ON I-69 WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED TRAVELING 70 MPH PASSING A TRUCK CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED. CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE AGAIN FOR ABOUT 50 MILES. ANOTHER INCIDENT OF DRIVING WITH BRAKE LIGHTS ON AND STOPPING WITHOUT LIGHTS BEING ILLUMINATED, CAR NEXT TO US LET US KNOW. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS CAME ON AND THE PASSENGER SEAT WILL NOT SHOW SOMEONE IS SITTING IN IT FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS. THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON IN FEBRUARY BUT WENT OFF A FEW DAYS LATER IT THEN CAME BACK ON IN MARCH AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT. IF A CRASH HAPPENS MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK. ALSO I HAVE HAD MY ENGINE FOR MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS REPLACED THREE TIMES 600 DOLLARS LATER MY WIPERS DO NOT WORK. THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT KEEPS SNAPPING I CAN'T KEEP SPENDING MONEY ONTHIS. ALSO MY GEARS DO NOT SHIFT PROPERLY EVEN THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED OUT GOOD. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS BUT THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX IT STATING THE PART WAS NOT RECEIVED YET. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY RECALLS BY MAIL EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM. THIS WHOLE CAR NEEDS RECALLED. *TR
TO SUM IT UP STARTED GETTING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" MESSAGE FROM MESSAGE CENTER IN VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTERWARD THE VEHICLE WILL BEGIN FLASHING THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF LIGHT AND SHIFTING HARD. NOW THE VEHICLE STILL SHIFTS HARD WITH THE TWO ABOVE MESSAGES AND IS ALSO STALLING OUT WHEN "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" MESSAGE APPEARS. MANY TIMES AFTER THIS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, CUT THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN CONTINUE DRIVING. PROBLEM STARTED INTERMITTENT AND NOW HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD IT STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY GOING OVER 50 MPH, VERY DANGEROUS WAS ALMOST HIT. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE USED LOST SERVICE CENTER THREE TIMES, NO LUCK ON FINDING PROBLEM OR REPAIR. CAR HAS BEEN WITH MY LOCAL GM CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP FOR 3 DAYS AND STILL NO PROPER DIAGNOSIS PROBLEM OR REPAIR. HAS SENSE RECEIVED THE TWO RECALL LETTERS BCM/TRANSMISSION BUT DEALERSHIP IS RELUCTANT TO REPAIR BECAUSE THEY SAID GM MAY NOT PAY FOR TIME AND PARTS. WORSE CAR PURCHASE I HAVE EVERY MADE. *TR
POWER STEERING KEEPS GOING OUT AND WHEEL IS SHAKING, SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH OTHER G6 OWNERS AND HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE EPS SYSTEM. CONTACTED GM AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT NOT ALL 2008 G6'S HAVE A RECALL ON THEM? ONLY ONES THAT FALL UNDER A CERTAIN VIN NUMBER WHICH MINE DOES NOT. COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT BUYING THIS VEHICLE. WHEN MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING AND I OR SOMEONE ELSE DIES MAYBE THEN GM WILL CARE ENOUGH TO ISSUE A RECALL ON ALL OF THE VEHICLES THEY KNOW HAVE PROBLEMS. *TR
OK SO I STARTED HAVING ISSUES STARTING THE VEHICLE OUT OF KNOW WHERE. THEN I STARTED GETTING BAD WHEN I SMELLED GAS EVERY TIME I DRIVE AND ONCE ITS PARKED. I NOW CAN SMELL GAS FUMES AS WE DRIVE SOMETIMES. I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BACK AND FORTH TO WORK AND MY 2 YEAR OLD CHILD RIDES WITH ME. I HAVE CONCERNS THAT MY CAR MIGHT BLOW UP OR CATCH FIRE IF A SPARK WAS TO HAPPEN. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DETECTED A TROUBLE CODE RELATED TO THE EXHAUST CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,350.
GM HAS YET TO FIX MY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IN MY 2008 PONTIAC G6. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING. THE GM DEALERSHIP THAT I DEAL WITH CANNOT GET IT FIXED BECAUSE GM REFUSES TO SEND THEM THE PARTS TO FIX IT. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO GM BUT ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS TALK TO YOU AND NOT FIX ANYTHING. I WENT TO GO START MY CAR TO LET IT WARM UP AND TURNED ON THE DRIVER'S AND THE PASSENGER HEATED SEATS. I HAVE USED THE DRIVER'S HEATED SEAT OFTEN. TEN TO FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER WHEN I AND MY FIANCE WENT TO LEAVE AND WE OPENED THE DOORS TO MY CAR WE BOTH SMELLED BURNT PLASTIC. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT HAD BURNED A SPOT AND THERE WAS A VISIBLE SCORCH MARK ON THE SEAT. ON MONDAY, JAN. 20, 2014 I CALLED SERRA CHEVROLET IN JACKSON, TN AND THEY REFERRED ME TO CALL GENERAL MOTORS SINCE MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. WE THEN SET UP A TIME TO HAVE MY CAR DIAGNOSED IN ORDER TO SEE IF GENERAL MOTORS WOULD DO ANYTHING TO ASSIST. ON TUESDAY, JAN. 21, 2014 I TOOK MY CAR TO SERRA CHEVROLET TO BE DIAGNOSED. AT 5:00PM WHEN I GOT OFF WORK AND WENT TO GO GET MY CAR, SERRA CHEVROLET INFORMED ME THAT GENERAL MOTORS WOULD ONLY PAY ROUGHLY 10% AND THAT THE DAMAGE DONE AND THE CAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTION WAS: "FOUND HIGH RESISTANCE IN PASSENGER HEAT ELEMENT CAUSING CUSHION AND COVER TO BURN". THE MALFUNCTION WITH THE SEAT ALSO CAUSED THE AIRBAG SENSOR IN THE SEAT TO MALFUNCTION AND NOW MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. CHRYSLER HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND THEY RECALLED THEIRS. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED, SOMEONE COULD GET HURT POSSIBLY EVEN FATALLY. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THIS, A MALFUNCTIONING HEATING ELEMENT, IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN LIGHTLY AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
THE VEHICLE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY ON WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS AND HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR USED WITH APPROXIMATELY 43,000 MILES IN DECEMBER 2011. THE VEHICLE MILEAGE IS NOW APPROXIMATELY 73,000 MILES. APPLYING DIALECTRIC GREASE TO THE CONTACTS OF THE BCM SEEMS TO TEMPORARILY CORRECT THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW MONTHS. AFTER WHICH, THE PROBLEM RESUMES. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHILE I AM DRIVING AT 65 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. I DON'T MIND PERIODICALLY GREASING THE BCM TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT WHAT WORRIES ME IS THAT THERE IS NO FEEDBACK FROM THE COMPUTER ALERTING ME THAT MY BRAKES LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST FOUR TIMES IN THE PAST, AND EACH TIME IT WAS DISCOVERED BY A FRIEND FOLLOWING BEHIND IN ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR

POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING STARTED ACTING ABNORMAL WHILE SITTING IN PARK, SHAKING VIGOROUSLY. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE SHAKING INCREASES DRAMATICALLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE CAR STEERING THEN TRIES TO DRIVE ITSELF AT RANDOM TIMES AND IF NOT HOLDING THE WHEEL FIRMLY THE WHEEL WOULD BE RIPPED OUT OF MY HANDS. ON MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULB SOCKET MELTED CAUSING THE NEED FOR THE WHOLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY TO BE REPLACED. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AT AROUND 37,000 MILES. THE CAR LIGHTING IS OEM. NO AFTER MARKET BULBS OR HEADLIGHTS. DEALER FOUND NO OPEN RECALLS IN THE US FOR THIS VIN, BUT DID FIND REFERENCE TO 2012 RECALL IN CANADA FOR POWER STEERING FAILURE COVERING THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR WITH REPLACEMENT OF STEERING COLUMN AS CORRECTIVE ACTION PLUS POWER STEERING MOTOR CONTROL MODULE FOR 2008 SPECIFIC. *TR

I PURCHASED THE BULBS FOR 20 DOLLARS AND PAID 88 DOLLARS FOR THE SERVICE. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THAT, I'D SAY MID-OCTOBER, A FRIEND TOLD ME MY LIGHTS WEREN'T ON AND SURE ENOUGH THEY WERE NOT. SO I AVOIDED NIGHT DRIVING UNTIL I COULD GET THEM CHECKED OUT FOR THE SECOND TIME. BUT THEN I NOTICED THAT SOME DAYS THE LOW BEAMS WERE ON AND SOME DAYS THEY WERE NOT SO I FIGURED IT MIGHT BE A SHORT CIRCUIT OR SOMETHING HAVING TO DO WITH FUSES. BUT ON THAT NIGHT IN NOVEMBER, I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO PICK MY TEENAGED SON UP FROM THE METRO STATION ONE NIGHT SO I USED MY HIGH BEAMS. I HAD NO CHOICE. THE POLICE OFFICER PULLED ME OVER BECAUSE OF THE GLARE THE HIGH BEAMS CAUSED AND ISSUED THE 3 REPAIR ORDERS. I TOOK MY CAR TO AUTOZONE WHERE THEY DID A DIAGNOSTICS CHECK ON MY VEHICLE. I RECEIVED 4 PRINTOUTS EXPLAINING THAT MY PROBLEM WAS ALL RELATED TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I HAVEN'T HAD THE REPAIRS DONE YET BECAUSE THEY WILL COST A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS AND I CANNOT AFFORD IT WITH A NEWBORN BABY AND MY RESULTING REDUCED WORK SCHEDULE. THE LOWEST ESTIMATE I RECEIVED WAS FOR 650. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALER WANTS TO PERFORM THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTICS CHECK FOR ANOTHER 130 DOLLARS. SO BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD THE MONEY TO GET THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM FIXED MY VEHICLE REGISTRATION IS ABOUT TO BE SUSPENDED. NOT ONLY WILL I NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE STATE WILL CONFISCATE MY TAGS, I WON'T BE ABLE TO RENEW MY TAGS OR REGISTRATION IN THE NEAR FUTURE. IN A PARKING SPACE AS THE SEAT WAS BEING ADJUSTED UP USING THE POWER UP/DOWN BUTTON, THE SEAT MADE A POPPING NOISE. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THE METAL BAR THAT ATTACHES TO THE SEAT FROM THE MOTOR HAD SPLIT AT THE POINT WHERE THE METAL RING IS ATTACHED TO THE SEAT. AGAIN THE METAL ACTUALLY WAS FATIGUED ENOUGH TO BREAK WHEN THE SEAT WAS BEING ADJUSTED. THIS SEAT IS NOT ADJUSTED OFTEN AND I FEEL THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
BEGINNING ON NOV 17, 2013 AND UP UNTIL PRESENT, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT OF MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 CONTINUES TO BURN OUT. THE FIRST INCIDENT CAUSED ME TO GET A TRAFFIC TICKET FOR DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE TICKET IS THE WAY I INITIALLY DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. THE VERY NEXT MORNING AFTER RECEIVING THE TICKET, I IMMEDIATELY CHANGED THE HEADLIGHT. TO MY DISMAY, THE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER IT WAS FIRST REPLACED. I THEN HAD TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHT REPLACED AGAIN. ON TODAY'S DATE, DECEMBER 28TH, WHILE DRIVING I SMELLED A VERY STRONG ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE CAR AND FOUND THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS BLACKENED. I REMOVED THE HEADLIGHT AND OBSERVED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WAS COMPLETED BURNED WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF IT. NOW I AM FEARFUL TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON. UPON ARRIVING HOME, I WENT ON THE INTERNET TO LEARN WHAT THE CAUSE MAY BE AND DISCOVERED MANY OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE PONTIAC G6. TO REPAIR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE IS COSTLY. CLEARLY, THIS IS A DANGEROUS MANUFACTURER'S DEFEAT. MECHANIC SAID THE PLASTIC HOUSING ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP HAD CRACKED, CAUSING GAS TO LEAK FROM THE TANK ALSO LOW FUEL PRESSURE AND VACUUM PROBLEMS. SAID CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND NEEDED THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THIS TOTALED $922 TO REPAIR. THANKFULLY THE LEAK WAS DETECTED BEFORE IT CAUSED A FIRE. SEARCHING THE INTERNET I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS MENTIONS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM FROM OTHER G6 OWNERS. I ALSO SAW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON SIMILAR MODELS FROM WARM WEATHER STATES FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # 12V459000 AND/OR 09V-419) WHERE GM REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE FREE OF CHARGE. I BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER MY MODEL AND YEAR PONTIC G6, AND GM SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR. *TR

I TOOK IT TO A PONTIAC DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS. I WAS TOLD NO, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE BRINGING THEIR CARS IN FOR THIS PROBLEM. I NOTICED TODAY, ONE OF THE BREAK LIGHT BULBS THAT IS LOCATED IN THE TRUNK LID WAS BLOWN. IT HAS DONE THE SAME THING AS THE HEADLIGHT, IT HAS GOTTEN SO HOT IT HAS MELTED THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE BULB. I THINK THIS IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THE BULBS SHOULD NOT BE GETTING SO HOT THAT THEY ARE MELTING PLASTIC.
