THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENS UP WHEN DRIVING. THE WHEEL WILL MOVE BACK AND FORTH LIKE A VIBRATION. THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE WHEN THE STEERING PROBLEM OCCURS. THE ISSUE BEGAN IN DECEMBER 2009 AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE, MEANING MORE CONSISTENT AND REGULAR. I REFUSE TO PAY FOR AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE VEHICLE WHEN PONTIAC SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I AM NOT THE ONLY CONSUMER HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I REGULARLY COMMUTE ON THE INTERSTATE AND FEEL UNSAFE IN MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT. AN ACCIDENT HAS NOT OCCURRED, BUT PONTIAC SHOULD RECALL THE 2008 PONTIAC G6 TO PREVENT A POSSIBLE FUTURE ACCIDENT. *TR
I PURCHASED A 08 PONTIAC G6 GT USED WITH AROUND 20,000 MILES. AT 32,000 I STARTED HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY ROTORS. THEY FRONT OF THE CAR WAS SHAKING BACK AND FORTH. I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER AND REQUESTED NEW ROTORS SINCE I AM AWARE OF ALL OF THE PROBLEMS THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH THE ROTORS. THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THEM BUT ONLY TURN THEM. AT 42,000 THEY ARE NOW WARPED AGAIN. I FIRST COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT DONE THE WORK AND THEY SAID I WAS OUT OF LUCK. THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM SAID THAT I WAS OUT OF LUCK. BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A "COMMON PROBLEM" WITH THOSE CARS. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM AND THEY SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WHERE I LIVE BECAUSE OF ALL THE MOUNTAINS. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL WITH THE G6/MALIBU/AURA (GM'S EPSILON) CARS. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE VERY DIM AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON DARK ROADS AT NIGHT. WE LIVE OUT IN THE COUNTRY AND I HAVE TO USE MY BRIGHT LIGHTS WHENEVER I CAN. THE DEALER HAS CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT AND SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL ROTATES LEFT AND RIGHT ON ITS OWN. IT MOVES AT A RAPID SPEED FOR A BRIEF MOMENT AND THEN STOPS AFTER ABOUT 10-20 SECONDS. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED BUT WILL CONTINUE EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ABOUT ONCE EVERY MONTH OR TWO. *TR
WATER DRAINS FROM THE DOME LIGHT AREA AND SUNROOF. BROUGHT IT IN MULTIPLE TIMES TO PONTIAC SHOPS. THEY SAY THE FIXED THE ISSUE, BUT IT HAPPENS AGAIN MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD. THIS APPARENTLY HAPPENS TO MANY PONTIAC 6 2008 OWNERS. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE AS THE LEAK OCCURS WHEN I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND DISTRACTS ME FROM THE ROAD. IT NEVER HAPPENS WHEN I'M STILL, ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. I HAVE ALL THE REPORTS FOR ALL THE VISITS I'VE MADE SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2008. THEY GAVE ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SINCE THIS KEEPS HAPPENING, BUT THAT IS RUNNING OUT SOON AND GM REFUSES TO BACK THE ISSUE OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY CAUSING ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT THEY REFUSE TO PUBLISH AND PLACE A RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. HE STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES. THE DEALER CHANGED THE STEERING MODULE, STEERING GEARS, AND REPLACED THE STABILIZER LINK, TO NO AVAIL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING FAILURE CAUSED OTHER COMPONENTS TO FAIL AS WELL. ALL REPAIRS WERE MADE UNDER WARRANTY. TO DATE, THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNDER 37,793.
INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT CLUNKING HAD TO HAVE REPLACED GM SAID WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE . WITH THE JOINTS FREEZING UP HOW COULD THIS NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE? *TR
I OWN A 2008 PONTIAC G-6 (VALUE LEADER MODEL) 2.4L ENGINE WITH ELECTRIC STEERING. AT 15,000 MILES THE MOTOR FOR THE ELECTRIC STEERING WENT OUT CAUSING A DTC AND P/S MESSAGE ON THE RADIO DIC, I HAD NO POWER STEERING AT THIS POINT. THE MOTOR AND CONTROL MODULE WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. AT 66,000 THE STEERING BEGIN HAVING RANDOM MOVEMENT LEFT TO RIGHT ON ITS OWN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, ON THREE OCCASIONS THE LOST OF STEERING CONTROL NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT EACH TIME. THE ONLY WAY TO REGAIN CONTROL AND STOP THE MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING LEFT TO RIGHT IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND SOMETIMES SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. SINCE THIS STARTED THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR THREE TIMES. THE OUTCOME THUS FAR IS THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ALSO HAD CLUNKING NOISE AND MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN BY PULLING ON STEERING WHEEL. THE SHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH 2ND GENERATION SHAFT FROM A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. ON 12/23/2009 I PAID TO HAVE THE TORQUE/POSITION SENSOR REPLACED AND CALIBRATED. AFTER SIX DAYS OF DRIVING THE CAR THE RANDOM MOVEMENT LEFT TO RIGHT AND CONTROL LOSS CAME BACK. CURRENTLY THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR TEST DRIVING TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN DUPLICATED ON 01/12/2010 MY OPTIONS SEEM TO BE AT THIS POINT FOR GM TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN OR HELP REPLACE THE CAR. I AM CURRENTLY NOT HAPPY WITH THE VEHICLE AND FEAR FOR MY SAFETY TO DRIVE THE CAR. *TR
IN OCTOBER MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING. MY POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WAS HARD TO KEEP MY CAR IN ONE LANE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THEN. THE POWER STEERING PROBLEM COMES AND GOES BUT IT IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO STEER (LIKE DRIVING AN OLDER MODEL CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING). I DRIVE 90 MILES ROUNDTRIP TO WORK AND TRAVEL ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO KEEP MY CAR IN ONE LANE. MY STEERING WHEEL POPS. WHEN I STOP MY STEERING WHEEL MOVES BACK AND FORTH RAPIDLY ON ITS OWN. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST AROUND 550.00 TO REPAIR. I TOLD THEM I WOULD NOT PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS A DEFECT. IF PONTIAC HAS RECALLED THE G5 AND THE G8 SHOULDN'T THEY RECALL THE G6. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. MY CAR HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR OVER 5 MONTHS. PONTIAC SHOULD REPAIR ALL CARS WITH THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
2008 PONTIAC G6 SEDAN. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STUCK ON UNTIL BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THEN LIGHTS GO OFF MOMENTARILY AND COME BACK ON. OTHER MOTORISTS FOLLOWING CANNOT DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT I AM ACTUALLY BRAKING WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS. THIS FAILURE HAS YET TO CEASE AND IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM AS IT IS MY ONLY VEHICLE TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP UNDER WARRANTY AND THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REFUSED TO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A USED 2008 PONTIAC G6. HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, IT WOULD BECOME DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE INSIDE HIS LANE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD FEEL HARD, AS IF IT WOULD POSSIBLY LOCK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME AND THERE WERE NEVER ANY WARNING LIGHTS THAT WOULD ILLUMINATE TO INDICATE A POSSIBLE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODULE WAS REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THERE WERE NO FURTHER FAILURES FOLLOWING THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,440 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNDER 61,284.
I HAVE A 2008 PONTIAC G6. WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SAID THAT IT HAS AN ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING. OF COURSE THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE PART IN STOCK BECAUSE THE SAID ALL G6'S HAVE FAULTY STEERING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE CRASHES AND IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR THAT I HAVE TO PAY THE $700 TO GET IT FIXED WHEN THIS IS SOMETHING THEY ARE AWARE OF. PLEASE PRAY FOR MY SAFETY I HOPE THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT FAILED IN OCTOBER. WHILE FIXING IT THOUGH IT SEEMED OK, REPLACED IT ANYWAYS. IT FAILED AGAIN IN NOVEMBER. AFTER CHECKING ON THE INTERNET NOTICED A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR TO THE HEADLIGHT MELTING AND FAILING. CHECKED AND THAT WAS MY PROBLEM. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PONTIAC G6 PROBLEM. CHECKED WITH PONTIAC AND NO RECALLS ON IT. SAFETY ISSUE, BESIDES NO HEADLIGHT COULD POSSIBLE CAUSE FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 10-15 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS; PROCEEDING TO MAKE A TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY LOOSE AND UNCONTROLLABLE WHICH RESULTED IN DIFFICULTY TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER CONTINUED WITH CAUTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER MAKING A TURN, ENCOUNTERING A BUMP AND ROUGH ROAD SURFACES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,426.
CAR MAKES A POPPING OR CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING. IT ALSO LOOSES POWER STEERING SUDDENLY. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BY CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP BUT EXPENSES WOULD COME OUT OF POCKET AND CAN'T AFFORD IT. *TR
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR TURNS THE AIRBAG OFF WHEN PASSENGER SITS OFF CENTER. THE AIRBAG SENSOR WILL NOT RESET IF THE PASSENGER MOVES BACK TO CENTER OF SEAT. I HAVE HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED AND IT WILL DO THE SAME THING. THE ONLY WAY TO RESET IT IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF. I DON'T THINK THIS IS SAFE AND WOULD LIKE YOU TO CONSIDER RECALLING THE AIRBAG SENSOR SYSTEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE EACH TIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND PRESSURE WAS LIFTED FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FIVE TIMES YET THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE THE FIRST 4 TIMES. ON THE FIFTH OCCURRENCE OF THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER AN UNKNOWN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT THEN BEGAN PULLING ON THE STEERING WHEEL UNTIL THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OPERATE AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE ENGAGED IN PARK. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AS THE GEAR SHIFTER PLASTIC INSERT FAILING DUE TO DEFECTIVE PLASTIC THAT BECAME OVERHEATED BY THE MOTOR. THE GEAR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED SIX TIMES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V460000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL) THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
STEERING MAKES A POPPING AND CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING. IS GETTING WORSE (LOUDER) AS TIME GOES ON. THE NOISE IS NOW PRETTY MUCH EVERY TIME YOU TURN AND STEERING IS BECOMING MORE "STIFF" BUT NOT AS YET DANGEROUS. *TR
I WAS TAKING MY GRANDMA TO THE STORE, I MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO THE LOT (5-10 MPH TOPS) WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR CAME TO AN ABRUPT HALT. I GOT OUT OF MY CAR TO FIND THAT MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE SNAPPED OFF. IT IS A 2008 G6 AND IS ONLY 1 1/2 YEARS OLD. I DID NOT HIT OR RUN OVER ANYTHING. I AM VERY DISTURBED AT THE THOUGHT OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY (WHICH I TRAVEL VERY FREQUENTLY). THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. I HAVE A 2008 PONTIAC G6 THAT HAS 20,800 MILES. WHILE TURNING THERE IS A POPPING NOISE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. STEERING WHEEL BEGAN JERKING LEFT AND RIGHT WHEN IDLING AND IS NOW DOING IT WHILE DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING TODAY THE POWER STEERING WARNING ON DASH CAME ON. I WILL BE TAKING THIS CAR IN FOR REPAIRS TOMORROW, BUT I BEGAN GOOGLING FOR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND A SILENT RECALL ON THE 2005 AND 2006 MODELS OF THE G6, BUT I THINK THE PROBLEM IS STILL UNRESOLVED. WHILE THE STEERING ISSUE HAS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, IS HAS BECOME A MAJOR CONCERN AS THE JERKING MADE HIGHWAY DRIVING UNSAFE. THIS JUST STARTED HAPPENING A FEW DAYS AGO. *TR
ON 2/17/09, GM RECALLED 8,012 2005-2006 PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES, BECAUSE THE BRAKE LAMPS WOULD NOT OPERATE PROPERLY DUE TO CORROSION IN A WIRING CONNECTOR. SYMPTOMS INCLUDE BRAKE LAMPS ILLUMINATING WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED, BRAKE LAMPS FAILING TO ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE AND GREATER THAN NORMAL BRAKE FORCE IS REQUIRED TO SHIFT VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. I OWN A 2008 PONTIAC G6 WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. I STILL HAVE THE FACTORY WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SENSOR WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS RELATED TO THIS RECALL AS THEY HAVE FOUND NO CORROSION IN THE WIRING CONNECTOR. I AM THEREFORE REQUESTING THAT NHTSA REQUIRE GM TO VALIDATE THE CAUSE AND EXPAND THE RECALL TO OTHER YEARS. AS NOTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE, "BRAKE LAMPS THAT ARE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY MAY NOT WARN A DRIVER IN A FOLLOWING VEHICLE OF THE BRAKING STATUS AND COULD LEAD TO A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING". THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT GM WOULD NOT RECALL ANY VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND DETERMINE OTHER CAUSES. THANK YOU. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO INQUIRE AS TO WHETHER THERE ARE ANY ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS AND POSSIBLY ANY RECALLS FOR THE PONTIAC G6. WE PURCHASED A G6 IN AUGUST 2009 AND RECENTLY STARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERAL DIFFERENT ISSUES. I HAVE GOOGLED THE ISSUES WE ARE EXPERIENCING AND AM FINDING THAT THESE PARTICULAR ISSUES HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE THE 2005 G6 AND ALL SEEM TO BE CONNECTED TO A MALFUNCTIONING DOOR LATCH MECHANISM AFFECTING ONE AND/OR ALL DOOR LATCHING MECHANISMS. THESE ARE SERIOUS SAFETY FEATURES THAT IN MY OPINION WOULD WARRANT A RECALL, SPECIFICALLY, THE DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTIONING. I DO PLAN TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED AT THE LOCAL HARRY ROBINSON GMC/PONTIAC IN FORT SMITH AR. THE COST FOR ASSESSMENT IS $80 AND BETWEEN $100 & $200 PER DOOR MECHANISM IF MORE THAN 1 IS AFFECTED, WITH THE DRIVER SIDE PART BEING THE MOST EXPENSIVE. OF COURSE LABOR IS ANOTHER $75 PER HOUR. 2008 PONTIAC G6 4 DOOR. DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS DO NOT LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS. ALL DOORS DO NOT LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO GEAR. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR MUST BE MANUALLY LOCKED INSIDE EVERYTIME, THE OTHER 3 MUST BE MANUALLY LOCKED OCCASIONALLY. (THIS MEANS THE STANDARD CHILD SAFETY FEATURE IS NOT WORKING!) THE RADIO WILL AT TIMES STAY ON AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND AFTER THE DOOR IS OPENED AND SHUT. - INTERMITTENT (MUST OCCASIONALLY MANUALLY TURN RADIO OFF AFTER EXITING VEHICLE) THE IGNITION CHIMES WILL OCCASIONALLY NOT GO OFF AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE - INTERMITTENT THE INTERIOR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF - MUST MANUALLY TURNED THIS OFF WITH SWITCH. (IMPOSSIBLE TO BACK THE VEHICLE SAFELY AT NIGHT WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHT ON!) THE PAINT INDEX WAS APPROXIMATELY 2 TO 3 TIMES HIGHER IN THAT PARTICULAR PLACE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE VEHICLE. THEREFORE, THE TRADE IN VALUE WOULD BE REDUCED. I HAD THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SECTOR REPLACED AND IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD THE POWER STEERING UNIT WOULD STOP WORKING FOR SHORT PERIODS WHILE DRIVING. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES SHAKES WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED. THIS SHAKING IS SIMILAR TO THE SHAKING THAT WOULD OCCUR WHEN A TIRE IS BADLY OUT OF BALANCE DURING DRIVING. *TR

WITH SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I SEE THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON COMPLAINT WITH REGARD TO THIS VEHICLE. THANKFULLY, SO FAR I'VE ONLY BEEN INCONVENIENCED, NOT INJURED. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION DUE TO A FAULTY INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT THAT WAS PUT INTO MY VEHICLE DURING MANUFACTURING. IT IS BECOMING DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S ALSO FEELS VERY UNSAFE WHEN I MAKE A TURN. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO GET STUCK AND FLIP. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHERS. I HAVE DISCOVERED THEY MADE A NEW INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SINCE THE ORIGINAL WAS A BAD DESIGN. I WAS JUST QUOTED SLIGHTLY LESS THAN $300 TO GET THIS NEW PART INSTALLED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY I HAVE TO PAY FOR AN EXTREMELY COMMON, FAULTY PART WHEN THIS SHOULD CLEARLY BE RECALLED. *TR
DOOR AJAR ALARM SOUNDS WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT TO COME ON. THIS ALSO STOPS THE DOOR LOCKS FROM LOCKING WHEN SHIFTING THE CAR INTO DRIVE. THE DOME LIGHT WILL COME ONE AFTER ALL DOORS ARE SHUT AND THE DOORS ARE LOCKED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. RECENTLY, THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE UNINTENDEDLY AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
AT RANDOM POINTS IN TIME MY PONTIAC G6 WILL NOT BRAKE PROPERLY. WHEN YOU PUSH THE PEDAL THE PEDAL WILL GO DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND THEN COME BACK UP. WHEN IT COMES BACK UP IT NORMALLY WILL BE FUNCTIONAL. THE PROBLEM IS IT TAKES A FEW SECONDS FOR MY BRAKES TO BECOME FUNCTIONAL WHICH HAS ALMOST RESULTED IN A FEW ACCIDENTS. THE PROBLEM ONLY HAPPENS ABOUT 1 A WEEK OR 1 TIME EVERY 2 WEEKS. WHEN IT HAPPENS WHOEVER IS DRIVING IS SCARRED OUT OF THEIR MIND. MY PARENTS DO NOT EVEN WANT ME DRIVING THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT HAS A DEFINATE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES REGARDING THE BREAKS. THEY SAID THE FIRST TIME THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF BREAK DUST. AFTER THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY WILL NOT REPAIR IT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE PONTIAC REP AND THEY HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM FOR A LITTLE OVER A MONTH NOW WITH NO REPAIRS MADE. WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN AN ICE STORM WHEN THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITH NOTHING HITTING IT. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A STRESS FRACTURE CAUSED BY THE HEAT ON THE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO SAID GM SAYS THE PROBLEM IS RARE AND THAT IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. I FEEL THAT IF HEAT FROM A DEFROSTER CAN DAMAGE THESE WINDSHIELDS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE WINDSHIELDS. I HAVE TO CUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESET THE POWER STEERING AFTER ITS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. GM HAS DONE NOTHING AND THERE IS NO RECALL AS OF THE DATE OF THIS POSTING TO REPLACE OR FIX THE DISCREPANCY. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY CAUSE AN UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT THAT COULD CAUSE A FATALITY IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED AND I PRAY THAT IT DOES NOT HAPPEN. I FEEL FOR THE INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT SO FAR AND I HOPE THAT THEY TAKE THERE COMPLAINTS TO GM AND MAKE THEM PAY FOR IT.
