LEFT HEADLIGHT BURNS OUT. NUMEROUS. BULB REPLACEMENTS AND HEADLIGHT DOES NOT WORK. VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING AT NIGHT. *TR
STARTED CAR AND POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND A CHIME SOUND AND POWER STEERING WAS GONE. WHEN I RESEARCHED FOUND THAT MANY G6 MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED WITH SAME PROBLEM. REPAIR WILL BE FOR PART IN ELECTRICAL MODEL FOR POWER STEERING AND PART IN STEERING COLUMN. WHEN RESEARCHED FOUND MANY ITEMS REGARDING RECALL ON G6 MODELS UP TO 2008 WITH EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS. REPAIR COST WILL RUN OVER $12000. MY CAR IS A 2009 WITH ONLY 55,000 MILES. I DO NOT BELIEVE I SHOULD BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT MOVED OUT OF POSITION AND LEANED TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE SEAT FRAME WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. DR
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN ACCUMULATUNG WATER IN THE REAR PASSENGER FLOORBOARDS FOR THREE YEARS, CAUSING MUSTY SMELL AND MOLD SPORES. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO VINCE WHIBBS THREE TIMES STILL NOT FIXED. MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUES ON INTERNET EVEN A U TUBE VIDEO AS EXPENSIVE A CAR WE SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
BOTH LOW BEAM BULBS BURN OUT FREQUENTLY. UPON FUTHER INSPECTION NOTICE THAT THE CONNECTOR TO THE BULB IS MELTING. REPLACED WITH NEW CONNECTOR AND THEY TO ARE MELTING. IS THIS ALSO A FIRE HAZARD? NO PATTERN THEY BURN OUT FREQUENTLY. THE NEW CONNECTIOR IS ONLY A WEEK OLD THE BULB WENT OUT AGAIN THE CONNECTOR IS PARTALY MELTED.
I HAVE HAD SOME ISSUES WITH THE HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT. THE RIGHT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AROUND 2 WEEKS AGO AND IT WENT AGAIN TWO DAYS AGO. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE LEFT HEADLIGHT GO OUT ALSO. ALSO MY INTERIOR LIGHTS WONT GO OFF AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR AROUND 30 MINS. AND THE ALARM WENT OFF BY ITSELF ALSO. I HAD TO GET THE KEYLESS KEY AND TURN OFF. NO ONE WAS AROUND THE CAR WHEN IT WENT OFF. I HAVE ALL KINDS OF ERROR MESSAGES APEAR ON MY DISPLAY THAT ARE NO CONCERN AFTER CHECKING THEM OUT. MY MAIN CONCERN IS MY HEADLIGHTS GOING OUT. I CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE BOTH LIGHTS GO OUT AND HAD TO RUN THE BRIGHT LIGHTS TO GET HOME AFTER DARK. PLEASE DO A RECALL GM !! *TR
CRUISE INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING AT SPEED ON THE FREEWAY. BRAKE LIGHTS RANDOMLY STAY ON WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED. *TR
PROBLEM 1 APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO, MY LEFT HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING. REPLACING THE LAMP WOULD SEEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT IT WOULD THEN START AND STOP WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, THEN GO OUT ALTOGETHER. THE LAMP WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. I WAS ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM ON MY OWN BY SPLICING IN A NEW LAMP PLUG CONNECTOR, AFTER SEARCHING FOR THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. IT HAS WORKED WITHOUT PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS, BUT I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT MY "FIX" HAS REALLY ADDRESSED WHATEVER THE PROBLEM WAS. THIS PROBLEM IS DISCUSSED AT GREAT LENGTH ON INTERNET FORUMS, AND CLEARLY IS COMMON WITH THIS CAR. INTERMITTENT HEADLAMPS WOULD CERTAINLY SEEM TO ME TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WORTHY OF A RECALL. PROBLEM 2 TODAY, I NOTICED THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AS I DROVE ALONG, I TRIED TAPPING THE BRAKES, AND FOUND THE CRUISE WOULD ENGAGE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN GO OFF AGAIN. A SECOND DRIVE (AT NIGHT) CONFIRMED THAT THE CAR'S BRAKE LIGHTS WERE COMING ON AT RANDOM AND STAYING ON. TAPPING THE BRAKES WOULD MAKE THEM GO OFF, BUT THEY COME ON AGAIN A FEW SECONDS LATER. THE CAR IS NOT SAFELY DRIVABLE IN THIS CONDITION, WHICH IS UNRESOLVED. AGAIN, A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS IS ANOTHER VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT A RECALL ACTUALLY EXISTS, BUT FOR ONLY A TINY NUMBER OF CARS, WHEN THIS CLEARLY AFFECTS THE ENTIRE MODEL RANGE. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 82,000 MILES AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT SAFELY BECAUSE NONE OF THE LIGHTS WORK CORRECTLY. GM SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THIS MODEL TO FIX THE LIGHTING PROBLEMS. *TR
MY 2009 PONTIAC G6 HAD APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT FIRST CAME ON. IN THE BEGINNING, THE LIGHT APPEARED INTERMITTENTLY AND SEEMED TO BE LINKED TO A SENSOR MALFUNCTION IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. CERTAIN SEAT POSITIONS AND PASSENGERS (WEIGHT?) COULD FIX THE PROBLEM BUT ONLY FOR THE DURATION OF THE RIDE. OVER A PERIOD OF MANY MONTHS TO A YEAR, THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY CLICK ON. EVENTUALLY, THE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT IS NOW ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE. THIS TYPE OF REPAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND I WAS TOLD THE COST WOULD BE A MINIMUM OF 400$, WITHOUT REPLACING THE ACTUAL AIR BAG IF NECESSARY. ON ANOTHER VISIT AT GM FOR A RECALL, I WAS TOLD THE DISTRIBUTOR FOR THESE AIR BAGS MAY HAVE SOLD FAULTY EQUIPMENT TO MORE THAN JUST GM. I WAS TOLD TO REPORT THIS SO THAT THE GOVERNMENT AND GM WOULD KNOW. I AM HOPING THAT UPON YOUR INVESTIGATION, GM WILL COMMIT TO A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. IN ADDITION, AIR BAGS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A POWER TRAIN OR EXTENDED WARRANTY (LIKE HOW RUST IS COVERED) AS THEY ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF PASSENGER SAFETY. MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, FLOODED, SET ON FIRE, STOLEN, OR HAD ANY WORK ON INTERIOR SEATING OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I NEVER SPILLED ANYTHING IN THE INTERIOR OR HAD ANYTHING IN THE CAR THAT COULD "PULL WIRES" OR CAUSE ANY FORESEEABLE DAMAGE. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V460000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)) AND CONTACTED THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIRS WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMEDY SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN FINALIZED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RECALL NOTICES HAD BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO THOSE CONSUMERS AFFECTED BY THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WHEN TURNING AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND TIGHTER CORNERING A SQUEAKING NOISE IS HEARD FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. ALSO WHEN PUSHING AND PULLING ON THE STEERING WHEEL THE SQUEAKING NOISE IS HEARD. HAD SIMILAR ISSUE ON 2003 PONTIAC. SEEMS THEY WOULD HAVE CORRECTED IT IN 6 YEARS.TOLD BY DEALERSHIP ON 2003 PONTIAC THAT IT WAS GREASE PACK ISSUE AND NEEDED REPLACING. VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. *TR
LOW BEAM LIGHT ON BOTH THE DRIVER & PASSENGER SIDES KEEP GOING OUT. I KEEP REPLACING AND IMMEDIATELY THEY GO OUT. BULBS WERE NOT BURNT OUT. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, WHILE DRIVING MY HEADLIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY COME ON AND GO OFF AGAIN. ALSO, THE TAILLIGHTS AND BLINKER!! VERY MAD AND I DO NOT HAVE A MONEY TREE TO FUND THIS ISSUE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO STAND UP AND FIX THIS NOW!!!! *TR
YESTERDAY, IN THE ABOVE-MENTIONED VEHICLE, I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AT ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND MY BODY SHIFTED ABRUPTLY AND RADICALLY. I ALMOST LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF MY CAR, BUT, FORTUNATELY, I AVOIDED HAVING AN ACCIDENT BY BRAKING TO A QUICK STOP. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT, SHERWOOD DELRAY BEACH, AND HAD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXAMINE THE CAR FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED ME THAT THE SEAT BASE (ANCHOR) WAS BROKEN OR OTHERWISE DEFECTIVE AND THAT HAD BEEN THE CAUSE OF THE ABOVE DESCRIBED INCIDENT. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN APRIL 2009 AND THE ODOMETER IS NOW APPROXIMATELY 32,500 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN USED STRICTLY FOR GENERAL LIGHT-DUTY PERSONAL USE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED, HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED, AND HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER. I KNOW OF NO POSSIBLE REASON WHY THIS DRIVER?S SEAT BASE/ANCHOR HAS BROKEN OR OTHERWISE FAILED OTHER THAN IT IS DEFECTIVE. THEREFORE, IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THIS IS A BONE FIDE SAFETY DEFECT IN THIS MODEL AUTOMOBILE WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH OR COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. MY DRIVER SIDE LIGHT WAS REPLACED TWICE, WENT TO MY GARAGE AND THEY REPLACED THE CONNECTORS. NOW AS OF 3/15/13 MY PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT WAS REPLACED TWICE AND WHILE DRIVING IT GOES OFF AND COMES BACK ON CONSTANTLY. THIS ALSO RESULTED IN GETTING PULLED OVER BY A POLICEMAN AND FAILED INSPECTION. AS SOON AS I LEFT TO GO HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. *TR
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, MAKES A LOUD SCRAPING SOUND. SOMETIMES HARD TO TURN WHEEL ESPECIALLY MAKING TURNS. *TR

THE FRAME CAUSED THE LIGHTS TO APPEAR DIMMED AND DECREASED THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT LENS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE RECURRED ON THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET ( WHERE SPEEDS ARE SLOW) THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD AND POWER STEERING FAILED TO WORK. IT WAS INCREDIBLY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND I ALMOST TURNED THE VEHICLE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CAR HAS LOW MILEAGE ON IT. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, HE SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND THE COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH IT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE BUT AGAIN I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS. IT WAS A COSTLY REPAIR. *TR
I KEEP HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE WIRING TO THE LOW BEAM BULB THE PLUG KEEPS MELTING I'VE REPLACED THE PIGTAIL TWICE STILL THE SAME PROBLEM WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO IT GOTTEN ME PULLED OVER PLUS ITS VERY UNSAFE. *TR
MY HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO I REPLACED IT AND THEN IT WENT OUT AGAIN AND HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT IT AND WAS TOLD THE WIRING WAS MELTING WHICH I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN ON THE DRIVER SIDE LAST YEAR AND HAD A FRIEND REPLACE THE WIRING. CONTACTED PONTIAC AND THEY SAID I HAVE TO GET DIAGNOSTIC TESTING DONE.I HAVE NOTICED THIS ON ALOT OF THESE TYPES OF VEHICLES. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING CRUISE CONTROL TO SHUT OFF. AT THE TIME, THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE BRAKE LIGHTS SHUT OFF WAS TO STEP ON THE BRAKE. WITHIN THE LAST WEEK THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON MORE FREQUENTLY AND NOT SHUTTING OFF AT ALL. THIS CAN BE A SERIOUS RISK FOR ACCIDENTS AS ANYONE BEHIND THE VEHICLE BELIEVES THE BRAKES ARE CONSTANTLY BEING PRESSED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SHIFT CABLE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V073000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V073000 POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: LEVER AND LINKAGE: COLUMN SHIFT) PERFORMED, HOWEVER THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFT TO REVERSE AND PARK THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE SHIFT CABLE GEAR SELECTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,735.
THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE 2009 PONTIAC G9 INTERMITTENTLY GO OFF AND ON. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHILE THE BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED AND GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
NOTICED HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT. REPLACED IT. BURNED OUT AGAIN IN A WEEK. REPLACED AGAIN AND BURNED OUT IN TWO DAYS. REPLACED WITH BEST BULB AVAILABLE AND HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT AFTER ONE WEEK. READ MANY POSTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. NOW I NEED TO HAVE A MECHANIC TROUBLESHOOT A FLAKEY ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WHICH CAN BE VERY EXPENSIVE. I BELIEVE ANY SAFETY EQUIPMENT ISSUES SHOULD ALWAYS BE WARRANTY WORK FROM THE DEALER.
ON 12/31/2011 I WAS PULLED OVER FOR A BURNT OUT HEADLIGHT. UPON REPLACING THE BULB I NOTICED THAT THE SOCKET WHERE THE BULB PLUGS IN WAS MELTED. I PUT A NEW BULB IN AND IT WORKED FOR 3 MONTHS. WHEN THAT WENT OUT IN MARCH OF 2012 I REPLACED IT AGAIN. NOW IN AUGUST OF 2012 THAT BULB BURNT OUT. THERE IS A CONNECTION TO THE MELTED HARNESS AS THE BULB THAT BURNT OUT WAS MELTED SLIGHTLY WHERE IT MADE A CONNECTION TO THE SOCKET. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE THAT GOES WELL BEYOND MY VEHICLE AS A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWS OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES. WHEN THE LIGHT BULB BURNS OUT AT NIGHT IT PUTS EVERYONE AT A SAFETY RISK WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE KEY ERRONEOUSLY BECAME DISLODGED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT, SHE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12V460000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. *TR

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
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN DRIVE, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRESTON CHEVROLET (13600 W CENTER ST, BURTON, OH 44021) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND, AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS, THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE TORQUE SENSOR WITHOUT CHARGE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,900.
I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT WORKING, SOON AFTER THAT SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON MOST OF THE TIME, ONLY GOING OFF OCCASIONALLY. I HAVE TESTED IT, AND YOU CAN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WATCH THE LIGHTS GO FROM OFF TO ON WITH OUT TOUCHING THE BREAK PETAL. (THEY STAY ON) I AM GOING TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE TOMORROW. I OWN TWO 2009 PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES. BOTH OF THE CONNECTORS IN THE HEADLIGHTS OF EACH VEHICLE HAVE MELTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. ONE HAS BEEN FIXED AND THE OTHER IS WAITING TO BE FIXED. THEY HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THIS SEEMS TO BE COMMON WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. PLEASE MAKE OTHERS AWARE. VEHICLE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON EXCEPT WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED, THEN IT GOES OUT. THIS HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT YET, BUT IT HAS HIGH POTENTIAL IF A SUDDEN STOP IS NEEDED THERE WILL NO WARNING FOR THE VEHICLE FOLLOWING OURS. *TR
WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE, BRAKE LIGHTS WORK THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY SHOULD. THEY ARE ON WHEN THE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED AND GO OFF WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. I SPENT ~$300 HAVING THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR DIAGNOSED AND IT TURNS OUT THAT THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) HAS CORROSION AND REQUIRED DIELECTRIC PASTE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. APPROXIMATELY 14 MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK FOR RECALL AND HE FOUND A TECH BULLETIN DESCRIBING EXACTLY THIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE. THEY PERFORMED IT AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE 100% CORRECTED AS SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. SEARCHING FORUMS ONLINE I SEE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS FAR MORE COMMON THAT ONE WOULD THINK AND THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE HEAD LAMP WENT OUT. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC THEY CHANGED THE BULB AND THAT DIDN'T WORK THEY SAID THE PLUG FOR THE BULB HAD BURNT UP. I HAD THEM REPLACE IT. ABOUT A MONTH LATER MY PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LAMP WENT OUT AND AGAIN PLUG LOOKED LIKE IT HAD BURNT UP. *TR
ON 6/25/12 MY CAR WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE WHEN STEERING. DEALERSHIP REPLACED STEERING GEAR AND ADJUSTED "FRONT TOE" AND GEAR ASSEMBLY. (ACCORDING TO THE WORK ORDER. ). ON 8/27/15 I HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIR DUE TO A VERY LOUD WHINING SOUND. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THAT MORNING THERE WAS STILL THE LOUD WHINING SOUND AND A CLUNKING SOUND. THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETE POWER STEERING RACK & PINION. TOTAL REPAIR BILL WAS $929.44. IN ADDITION I HAVE HAD TO HAVE TWO REPAIRS TO EXHAUST GASKET. (ONE 4/25/15 AND ANOTHER ONE ON 8/18/15). G6 BEGAN TO SHIFT GEARS ON ITS OWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY LEADING TO NEAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO SUDDEN STOPS OR SLOW DOWNS. CARS TRANSMISSION LOCKED IN PARK AND WON'T REVERSE. CAR BEGINS TO REVERSE ON ITS OWN IN PARK BUT ENDS UP CATCHING ITSELF BACK IN PARK. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE SET ON PARK AND WON'T CHANGE TO GO IN REVERSE. ALSO THE POWER STEERING HIGH PRESSURE HOSE BURST AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, CAUSED SEVERE MELTING OF VARIOUS WIRES AROUND IT. NEARLY LIT THE CAR ON FIRE AFTER CAUSING THE STARTER TO CATCH FIRE FROM THE POWER STEERING FLUID GETTING INSIDE OF IT. *TR

HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
IN MAY 2012 THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT SO WE REPLACED IT WITH A BRAND NEW LIGHT. WITHIN 2 WEEKS (JUNE 8TH), I WAS DRIVING IN INDIANA WHEN I NOTICED MY HEADLIGHT WAS OUT AGAIN. WE AGAIN REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT AND SINCE THEN IT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK. HEATER ON FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WILL NOT WORK. TIRE SERVICE MONITOR COMES ON RANDOMLY. CRUISE CONTROL WORKS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT DOES NOT WORK MORE OFTEN THAN IT DOES. LOUD, RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM STEERING COLUMN WHEN MAKING TURNS. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WORK INTERMITTENTLY (GOT STOPPED BY A POLICEMAN AND WARNED OF A CITATION THE NEXT TIME I WOULD GET STOPPED). I HAD ONE BULB CHANGED. TWO WEEKS LATER IT WENT OUT, BUT THE BULB WAS NOT BURNT. THEN, IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. A MONTH OR SO LATER THE OTHER ONE WENT OUT. I HAD BOTH WIRING HARNESSES CHANGED AND NEW BULBS PUT IN. RECENTLY, I WAS TOLD I HAD A BURNT HEADLIGHT (LOW BEAM AGAIN). I HAVE BEEN STOPPED ON THE INTERSTATE TO BE TOLD THAT MY BRAKES WERE FLASHING (WHILE DRIVING) AND THEN THEY WERE WORKING OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY SHOULD BE (BRAKE LIGHTS ON WHILE DRIVING AND OFF WHILE BRAKING). I HAVE SEEN OTHER PONTIAC G6'S WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE IN MY OPINION AS I COULD EASILY BE REAR-ENDED DUE TO FAULTY BRAKES. I HAVE READ SIMILAR ISSUES BY OTHER PONTIAC G6 OWNERS. WILL RECALLS BE ISSUED FOR ANY OF THESE ISSUES? I AM A SINGLE PARENT AND DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO POUR INTO THIS CAR SO MOST OF IT STAYS BROKEN! THEY CALLED AND LET ME KNOW THAT MY CONNECTOR WAS BURNED OUT AND NEED TO REPLACE THEM IN ORDER THE LIGHT TO WORK AND IT WASN'T COVERED THRU MY EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I HAD TO PAY $290 TO GET FIX. AFTER GOOGLE THIS ISSUE LOOKS LIKE THIS A ON GOING ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE THAT I THINK SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMETHING ELSE GET SHORTAGE DUE TO BURNED OUT WIRING. THE HEADLIGHT (H11) ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY G6 WOULD RANDOMLY STOP WORKING. WE HAD CHANGED THE BULB ONCE ALREADY AND WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION WE DISCOVERED THE H11 WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR APPEARED TO BE MELTED. WE THEN WENT TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORES WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST US. WE THEN WENT TO OUR LOCAL GM SERVICE AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED US THAT THIS H11 CONNECTOR WAS A RECALL ITEM ON THE ARCADIA AND HE HAD SOME ON HAND AND SOLD US ONE. SINCE THIS ITEM IS ALREADY A RECALL ITEM ON A DIFFERENT MODEL HE STATED TO HOLD ON TO THE RECEIPT INCASE IT BECOMES A RECALL ON OUR CAR. I PAID NEARLY $40 TO FIX THE PASSENGER SIDE TO ENSURE IF THE DRIVERS SIDE GOES OUT I WILL HAVE TIME TO FIX THAT TO PREVENT NO HEADLIGHTS AT ALL.
