I'VE HAD TOO NUMEROUS TO MENTION. BUT BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO SELL I DON'T WANT TO GIVE OUT TOO MUCH INFO HERE. THERE ARE SO MANY TIMES MY STEERING HAS LOCKED UP. IF NOT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD.... MY BRAKES WELL, THEY JUST HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN THAT THEY GO OUT BUT I CAN THINK OF 2 SPECIFIC INCIDENTS IF ANOTHER CAR WAS COMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION I WOULD HAVE BEEN HISTORY. ONE THING THAT I'VE HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR MANY TIMES IS THAT LAMP LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD. I TAKE IT IN. THEY FIX IT. IM NOT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND ITS ON AGAIN. MY CAR IS A 2007, GARAGE KEPT, LEATHER SEATS, SUN ROOF, SIRIUS FM, AND JUST TURNED 40K. ITS MY BABY. I HATE TO PART WITH IT BUT ITS A DEATH TRAP. *TR
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING JERKING. UNSURE WHAT CAUSE. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND NOW THE CAR IS JERKING FORWARD. *TR

NOW THAT MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP, I AM TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY HAS GONE OUT AND THIS IS IN COMBINATION OF THE COMPUTER NEEDING TO BE REPLACED ALSO. I HAVE JUST OVER 39,000 MILES AND WARRANTY OUT @ 36,000. MILES. *TR

MY 2007 PONTIAC VIBE WAS ACTING LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL. ALSO ROUGH STARTS AND NO ACCELERATION. I FOUND OUT THROUGH THE SERVICE LIGHT THAT IT WAS A BAD P.C.U. I REPLACED AND NOW IT IS FINE. VIBE JUST HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT I HAD TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF. I SEARCHED ON COMPUTER AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. BUT THEIRS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WE'VE HAD OUR 2007 PONTIAC VIBE FOR 6 MONTHS NOW. IT HAS ~4200 MILES ON IT. IT IS A FAMILY CAR AND IS DRIVEN BY ME AND MY WIFE (45 & 43). JUST THIS WEEKEND I WAS DRIVING FROM ROCHESTER NY TO MANASSAS VA AND EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED BY THE ONE DESCRIBED AT: HTTP://WWW.ABOUTAUTOMOBILE.COM/COMPLAINT/2005/PONTIAC/VIBE +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ COMPLAINT NUMBER: 10231583 INCIDENT DATE: JUNE 18, 2008 DATE ADDED TO FILE: JUNE 19, 2008 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ THE FIRST "EVENT", I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND GRADUALLY FELT THE BRAKE PEDAL REQUIRING MORE AND MORE PRESSURE TO KEEP THE PEDAL DEPRESSED AND THE CAR STANDING STILL (CARS WERE IN FRONT OF ME). FORTUNATELY, I ONLY HAD TO ENDURE ABOUT 10 SECONDS OF APPLYING SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL BEFORE THE LIGHT CHANGED AND CARS BEGAN MOVING. THE SECOND INCIDENT, I WAS LESS FORTUNATE. I WAS IN A LONG LINE OF CARS THAT WERE STOPPED WAITING TO GET BY AN ACCIDENT SCENE. I WAS WAITING APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES, CAR IDLING, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, WITH MY NORMAL BRAKE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, REALIZED THE CAR WAS MOVING FORWARD. I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE WITH MY RIGHT FOOT AS HARD AS A COULD, AND THIS WAS NOT ENOUGH. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET THEN REALIZED I WOULD SOON HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND JAMMED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL---THE TRANSMISSION THUDDED BUT I AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT, THOUGH PROBABLY DAMAGED MY TRANSMISSION SOME. *TR
2007 PONTIAC VIBE (TOYOTA ENGINE). ONLY 1 INCIDENT, HAD CAR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR. PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT WITH MY DAUGHTER AT APARTMENT COMPLEX, CAR WENT INTO HIGH SPEED MODE, I REALLY TRUMPED THE BRAKES AND CAR STOPPED. I THOUGHT WHAT THE !@#$% WAS THAT. I HAD HEARD ABOUT MATS BECOMING LOOSE SO I CHECKED AND I THOUGHT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE LOOSE MAT. BOUGHT NEW FLAT MATS AND PUT FRONT CAR MATS IN REAR OF CAR. ALSO, I BELIEVE WHEN I HAVE USED CRUISE CONTROL, IT SEEMS SOMETIMES THAT CAR JUMPS INTO GOING FASTER WITHOUT HITTING GAS PEDAL OR ARM CONTROL. *TR
COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE WHERE THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE STRUCK THE SIDE OF THE SECOND VEHICLE. MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY SHOULDER BELT DID NOT LOCK IN PLACE DURING THE CRASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE METAL OF THE WHEELS WAS EXHIBITING EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL WOULD POSSIBLY BECOME FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE BUT THE DEALER DECLINED TO PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT HE COULD PAINT OVER THE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY TO 20 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING THE BRAKES; HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING, THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14068 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66900. UPDATED 6/1/10 *CN UPDATED 06/04/10. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH AT NIGHT, IN DRY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND. HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE TIRES AND WHEELS SPUN AROUND DRAMATICALLY. HE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND TURN THE IGNITION OFF. HE THEN RE-STARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT BEGAN OPERATING NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND HE WAS ABLE TO USE THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT WAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,014. UPDATED 03/01/10 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED SHIFTING PROBLEMS AS WELL. THERE WAS EXCESSIVE DOWNSHIFTING ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. UPDATED 09/14/10
I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE AND HAVE NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION FROM 2007 THROUGH THE PRESENT. WHILE THE BRAKE IS FULLY DEPRESSED, THE CAR SURGES FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AVERAGE ABOUT EVERY 1,000 MILES. LUCKILY I HAVE NEVER HIT ANYONE OR ANYTHING. I HAVE LEARNED TO KEEP MY DISTANCE WHENEVER POSSIBLE. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES AND BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM (I CAN'T DUPLICATE IT EITHER), THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED IN AUGUST 2009 AND THE POWER TRAIN WAS REPLACED. THIS SEEMED TO HAVE STOPPED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT FIVE MONTHS AND I HAD THE PROBLEM AGAIN IN FEBRUARY 2010. THIS CAR IS TOYOTA BUILT AND I HAVE BEEN ALL THE WAY UP THE CHAIN IN GM WITH NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE EVEN CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP EITHER. *TR
NEAR COLLISION WITH OTHER VEHICLE DUE TO WINDSHIELD DISTORTION OF THE VEHICLE. WINDSHIELD DISTORTION CAUSED STATIONARY OBJECTS TO APPEAR TO MOVE DURING LOW-SPEED MANEUVER MY EYES BECAME ACCUSTOMED TO THIS EFFECT AND CAUSED ME NOT NOTICE A VEHICLE THAT WAS ACTUALLY MOVING INTO THE INTENDED PATH OF MY VEHICLE. CAUGHT IT JUST IN TIME TO PREVENT COLLISION. PONTIAC WILL DO NOTHING TO REMEDY THE DEFECT. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PULLING TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING, EVER SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE BACK END WAS OUT OF LINE, HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT SPECIFICALLY WAS OUT OF LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SPECIFICATION RELATED. THEY REFERRED HIM TO A GOODYEAR LOCATION AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR WHEELS WERE TURNED TO THE RIGHT BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER HAS HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK NOW AND STATED THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE BECAUSE IT WAS DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. THE DEALER ALSO WILL NOT INFORM THE CONTACT OF WHERE THEY HAVE PLACED HIS VEHICLE. HE HAS A CASE NUMBER WITH GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING THE WHEREABOUTS OF HIS VEHICLE. THE FAILURE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,800. THE CONSUMER PROVIDE VARIOUS REPAIR INVOICES PERTAINING TO THE DEFECT. UPDATED 08/27/07 *TR

ON 3 DECEMBER 2010, GM ISSUED A "PARTS AVAILABILITY UPDATE" TO DEALERS THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MID-JANUARY AND ADVISING DEALERS THEY WOULD BE ADVISED JUST BEFORE "RECALL NOTIFICATION LETTERS" ARE ISSUED. TODAY, 11 JANUARY 2011, THE NHTSA ODI WEBSITE INDICATES THAT SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT 14 JAUNARY. CONTACTED MY DEALER 11 JANUARY 2011 WHO ADVISES THAT MY VIN IS "NOT CURRENTLY LISTED A PART OF A RECALL." FOUND THIS ODD SINCE MY VEHICLE HAS ONE OF THE RECALLED ENGINE CONTROL MODULES (ECMS), SPECIFICALLY PART NUMBER 89661-02K30, WHICH IS ONE OF TWO PART NUMBERS FOUND ON ESSENTIALLY ALL 2007 PONTIAC VIBES AND TOYOTA MATRIXS WITH ABOVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER NO SERVICE AT 1-800-762-2737 AND RECEIVED AN INCREDIBLY SELF-SERVING LINE OF "DOUBLE-SPEAK" CLEARLY DESIGNED TO NOT ADDRESS MY COMPLAINT. ESSENTIALLY, THE WAY THIS "GAME" WORKS IS THAT NO VEHICLE ALREADY KNOWN TO HAVE A DEFECTIVE ECM IS "OFFICIAL" IDENTIFIED IN GM'S DATABASE AS "RECALLED" UNTIL THEY ACTUALLY SEND OUT THE SECOND "RECALL" NOTICES - NOTICES THAT HAVE BEEN DELAYED OVER 4 MONTHS.
