EXSESIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. MOTOR CAN SIEZE DURING OPERATION RESULTING IN STEERING AND BRAKING FAILURE.
ON MAY 11, 2016 WHILE DRIVING ON I -81, MY CAR WITH 86,000 MILES ON IT SUDDENLY STARTED TO WEAVE BACK & FORTH ACROSS THE INTERSTATE. I THOUGHT THE TIE ROD HAD BROKEN. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OFF THE ROAD. THEN I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TAKEN TO THE NEAREST REPAIR SHOP..NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON UNTIL THE GM MECHANIC PLUGGED IN HIS CODE READER. THEN LOTS OF LIGHTS LIT UP. HE SAID THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT WENT HAYWIRE AND CAUSED THE ABS SYSTEM TO FIGHT WITH THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM. ALL I KNOW IS THAT A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FAILURE HAPPENED. IF WE HAD BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, OR ON SLICK RAINY OR SNOWY ROADS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED THIS FAILURE REMINDS ME OF THE PROBLEM TOYOTA HAD YEARS AGO WITH THEIR VEHICLES SUDDENLY ACCELERATING OUT OF CONTROL.. TAKATA RECALL I WAS NOTIFIED OVER A YEAR AGO BY GM THAT MY VEHICLE IS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD SOON HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR MY VEHICLE. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM SAYING THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I WAS TOLD THE SOLUTION WAS "NOT TO USE THE PASSENGER SEAT". THERE WAS NO ESTIMATED TIME WHEN PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION. I NEED TO USE THE PASSENGER SEAT OF MY VEHICLE.

EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
WITHOUT WARNING OIL CONSUMPTION WENT FROM NORMAL TO OVER 1 QUART PER 1000 MILES. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WHICHTOYOTA NOTIFIED ITS CUSTOMERS OF, GM CHOOSE NOT TO NOTIFY. THIS EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION, NOT LEAKING RESULTED IN A SEIZED ENGINE. GM IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND I BELIEVE THEY OWE ME EITHER A FULL REPAIR, OR PRE-EVENT MARKET VALUE. WHILE THEY ORIGINALLY OFFERED TO COVER 2/3 OF THE REPAIR THEY HAVE BACKED AWAY FROM THAT OFFER OFFERING A $2500 CUSTOMER LOYALTY ON A PURCHASE, BOTH ARE UNSATISFACTORY TO ME, AS THEY WERE MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND CHOSE NOT TO NOTIFY OWNERS. CAR WITH PASSENGER WAS IN THE HOA LANE WHEN ENGINE FAILED CAUSING A 7 LANE TRANSITION WITHOUT POWER. CAR WAS TOWED, NO CRASH DUE TO THE EXPERIENCE OF THE DRIVER.

MY 2009 PONTIAC VIBE BASE 1.4L HAS SERIOUS MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT STEERING ISSUES THAT MAKE IT FEEL VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AT AROUND 30 MPH AND THEN AGAIN AT 70 MPH THERE IS A RATTLE THAT COMES FROM THE STEERING MOTOR AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT (2 SEPARATE ISSUES WHICH ARE EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY). CURRENTLY OVER 100,000 AS AN ORIGINAL OWNER.

THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED IN THE CRASH. THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR BURNS AND INJURIES FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. REPEATED FRONT BRAKE REPAIRS TO STOP HEAVY VIBRATION WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. VIBRATION IS EXTREME IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE STICK SHIFT, AND SOMETIMES THROUGHOUT THE CAR. REPAIRS WERE DONE 3 TIMES IN 18 MONTHS, AND IT KEEPS COMING BACK WITHIN A MONTH AFTER REPAIRS. I NEVER BRAKE HARD TO CAUSE THIS. TRANSMISSION REPEATEDLY POPS OUT OF 5TH GEAR DURING ACCELERATION, REPORTEDLY CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE OR BROKEN SYNCHRONIZER. HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION.
SERIOUS OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM, EVERY THOUSAND MILES I AM DOWN 1 TO 2 QUARTS OF OIL. I'VE TRIED DIFFERENT TYPES OF OIL DIFFERENT TYPES OF TREATMENTS AND I'VE HAD GASKETS REPLACED AND STILL CONSUMING LOTS OF OIL. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT LEAKING .

THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V024000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

TAKATA RECALL - IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE THIS PROBLEM CAME TO LIGHT. I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT GM HAS YET TO HAVE A FIX FOR IT. I HAVE CALLED TWO GM DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS. I HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED TAKATA CHAPTER 11 INFORMATION. IS GM WAITING UNTIL THEY SEE HOW THAT SHAKES OUT? I WOULD THINK GM WOULD WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THIS IMMEDIATELY TO MITIGATE FUTURE LAW SUITS AGAINST THEM.

PULLING OUT OF THE FIRESTONE PARKING LOT, LOOKED BOTH WAYS; NOTHING COMING FROM THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT, BEGAN TO PULL OUT, AND ALMOST HIT A GUY ON A MOTORCYCLE. THERE IS A VERY POORLY DESIGNED TRAIT IN MY PONTIAC VIBE WITH THE SIDE MIRRORS BLOCKING YOUR VIEW.... CAN THE MIRRORS BE CHANGED TO A SMALLER (HEIGHT) MIRROR? THIS HAD ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO ME TWICE SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS CAR.... NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WITHOUT NOTICE MY STEERING HAD NO POWER, REALLY SCARED BECAUSE I COULD BARELY STEER THE CAR, SO GLAD I WAS IN A 45 MILE ZONE. I LOOKED AT MY DASH LIGHTS, THERE WAS SHOWING A RED BATTERY LIGHT, SEVERAL BRAKE SYMBOLS, SOMETHING ABOUT THE TRACTION LOSS. I NEED MY CAR SO BADLY, I DON'T KNOW IF GMC WILL COVER THIS. IF I HAD NOT PULLED OFF ROAD AND CALLED MY HUSBAND I WOULD OF WRECKED BECAUSE OF IT BEING SO HARD TO STEER. HE CAME AND SLOWLY DROVE IT HOME AND I FOLLOWED HIM IN HIS CAR. NO NOTICE AND NO WARNING AT ALL.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP, SHAKING AND VIBRATION OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE CAR IN GENERAL OCCURS. IT'S FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO FALL APART. THIS OCCURS IN SPEEDS OVER 25 MPH.
TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED RECALL LETTER YEAR OR 2 AGO. FIX WAS TO NOT LET ANYONE RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS A FAMILY CAR. WHAT GOOD IS THAT? CAN'T USE IT FOR WHAT WE BOUGHT IT FOR. STILL NO FIX NOTIFICATION. HAVE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THEIR CARS REPAIRED. REQUESTED REPLACEMENT FOR THE AIRBAG. WAS DENIED. SHOULD COME UP WITH A FIX OR COMPENSATE PEOPLE SO THEY CAN GET SOMETHING THEY CAN USE. HOW DO WE EVEN GET RID OF IT NOW?
LEAVING A STOP LIGHT IN ALPENA MICHIGAN, THE GAS PEDAL BEGAN TO GO DOWN AND SPED UP THE CAR BY ITSELF. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE KEY AND LET IT SLOW DOWN. THEN TURNED THE KEY ON AND IT SPED UP BY ITSELF AGAIN!. THIS TIME I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE SPED UP RAPIDLY TO 4 TO 5 THOUSAND RPM. ONCE AGAIN I TURNED OFF THE KEY AND THEN ON AGAIN AND IT SEEMED NORMAL AFTER THAT. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS OFF. THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TYPE OF DEFECT IS A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL!! NO, THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT INVOLVED!! I PURCHASED THIS AUTO FROM SCHAFER CHEVY OF PINNCONING MICHIGAN ON 1/22/15. I FEEL THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY, AS TO HOW DANGEROUS THEY REALLY ARE. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR, I AM SURE SHE WOULD HAVE PANICKED AND I HATE TO THINK OF THE RESULT!!. I AM STUCK WITH THIS CAR, AND WILL BE THE ONLY DRIVER SINCE I KNOW WHAT TO DO IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I REFUSE TO SELL TO SOMEONE ELSE. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THIS EVENING, WHICH IS ABOUT 25 MINUTES AWAY FROM HOME, WHEN MY VSC, ENGINE, AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. ON THE WAY HOME AFTER RUNNING ERRANDS, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON, WHEN I PARKED THE CAR AT HOME, THE LIGHT WAS ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED TO RESTART IT AND NOTHING. I LET IT SET FOR A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO RESTART IT. IT STARTED BACK UP, I CHECKED THE ALTERNATOR BELT TO MAKE CERTAIN IT DID NOT COME OFF, AND SHUT OFF THE CAR AGAIN.
