I HAD TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE THE COOLANT LINES SECURED INTO THE ENGINE OF MY CAR. THIS CAR HAS A KNOWN FAULT IN WHERE THE COOLANT LINES COME UNSECURED FROM THE VEHICLE, DUMPING ALL COOLANT WITHIN SECONDS. NOT ONLY DOES THIS OVERHEAT THE ENGINE, BUT SLIPPERY COOLANT ALL OVER THE REAR TIRES OF A VEHICLE MEANS A CRASH CAN OCCUR.
THE VEHICLE LOST MOST OF IT'S POWER FROM AN ENGINE FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REAR-ENDED AND A MULTI-CAR PILEUP. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO ESCAPE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. AN INDEPENDENT PORSCHE REPAIR SHOP, EURASIAN AUTO, "BORE SCORING" ON CYLINDER 5. FACTORY DEALER, PORSCHE OF BIRMINGHAM, CONFIRMED THAT DIAGNOSIS. THE AUTOMOBILE ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. THE ENGINE NOW NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY REBUILT. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF THIS SAME THING HAPPENING HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS OF 911S WITH THIS MODEL ENGINE. IT WAS USED IN 911S BETWEEN 05 AND 09. IT OCCURS IN BOTH THE 3,6 LITER ENGINE AND THE HIGHER HORSE POWER 3.8. SOME REPORTS SAY THE FAILURE IS EVEN MORE PREVALENT IN THE 3.8 LITER WHICH IS IN THE S VERSION. MY CAR IS A 3.8 LITER S VERSION. THE PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT THAT SEVERAL COMPANIES NOW SPECIALIZE IN REMANUFACTURING 05 TO 09 911 ENGINES THAT HAVE SUFFERED BORE SCORING AND PROVIDING "FIXES" SO THAT BORE SCORING WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THESE COMPANIES INCLUDE FLAT SIX INNOVATIONS, RND, AND STRUTTCARS. IF YOU LOOK AT ANY OF THESE COMPANIES WEBSITES YOU WILL SEE AN EXPLANATION OF THE PROBLEM AND THEIR SOLUTIONS. PORSCHE IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. SO THAT YOU WILL KNOW THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE, I ENCLOSE SEVERAL ONLINE REFERENCES TO THE PROBLEM. ALSO I WILL KEEP THE CAR GARAGED IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION FOR 5 MONTHS IF YOU WANT TO TEST IT.
WAS LEAVING FREEWAY AND WENT TO HIT THE BRAKES AND HAD NO TRACTION. HAD SMELLED A LIQUID, WHICH IN RETROSPECT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN COOLANT. MISSED HITTING OTHER VEHICLES, BUT THE CAR WAS IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT - VEHICLE DAMAGE WAS EXCESSIVE AND THE CAR IS NOT REPAIRABLE. I WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED WITH MULTIPLE BROKEN BONES, FACIAL LACERATIONS, BRUISES, ETC. ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THAT THE BRAKES HAD FAILED, BUT LOSS OF TRACTION WOULD DUPLICATE THE EVENT - BASICALLY SMELLED COOLANT.
PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM PORSCHE DEALER ON JAN 2 2017 AND OPERATED IT 1600 MILES BEFORE IT BLEW A COOLANT FITTING AND EXPELLED COOLANT ALL OVER THE ROAD , REAR TIRE, AND REAR OF CAR. I WAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE ON RAMP AND HEARD THE BELTS SQUEAL AND SAW STEAM IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. I COULD HAVE VERY EASILY LOST TRACTION IF THERE WERE NO CARS AHEAD OF ME GOING SLOW. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND TURN THE CAR OFF BEFORE CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE. NO ONE BEHIND ME LOST TRACTION IN THE SLICK COOLANT FORTUNATELY . EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT COULD EASILY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO SELLING DEALER 3 DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY AND RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE OF $5200 TO REPAIR A COOLANT HOSE. OFFERED A 15% DISCOUNT, THEN AN ADDITIONAL $1000 OFF. I RESEARCHED THE COMMON COOLANT FITTING ISSUE WHERE THE EPOXIED FITTING COMES LOOSE OR ONE OF THE PLASTIC FITTINGS BREAK. THE SERVICE MANAGER ACTED LIKE HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT AND SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ONE HOSE . DECLINED REPAIR AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO INDEPENDENT SHOP WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS A FITTING , NOT A HOSE AS THE SERVICE ADVISOR HAD STATED. ONE OTHER FITTING WAS ABOUT TO FAIL AS WELL. THIS LARGE WELL KNOWN SHOP PERFORMS UPGRADES TO THESE FITTINGS BY WELDING THEM SO THEY WON'T LET GO. $5000 TO FIX ALL SEVEN FITTINGS. WELD 5 ALUMINUM FITTINGS AND REPLACE THE 2 PLASTIC ONES WITH ALUMINUM AND WELD THEM ALSO. DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD PUT A DRIVER AND OTHERS IN A BAD SITUATION. BEEN WITHOUT THE CAR FOR OVER 3 WEEKS SO FAR .
MAJOR COOLANT LEAK ON TOP OF ENGINE ..ENGINE MUST COME OUT $6000 EST AT PORSCHE DEALER. COMMON PROBLEM I TOLD..PORSCHE SHOULD RECALL THIS ISSUE!!
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE LISTED ABOVE 2007 PORSCHE 911 TURBO ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 15TH 2014 FROM CARLSTADT NEW JERSEY. I BEGAN TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO WHERE I CURRENTLY LIVE IN SUMMERVILLE, SC. APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE A LIGHT CAME ON IN THE GAUGE WHICH SAID COOLANT FAILURE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF. I OPENED THE REAR HATCH WHERE THE ENGINE IS HOUSED TO REVEAL STEAM POURING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR. I CALLED AAA TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST PORSCHE DEALERSHIP OFF THE NEW JERSEY INTERSTATE WHICH HAPPENED TO BE RAY CATENA PORSCHE OF EDISON NEW JERSEY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS VERIFIED THAT INDEED IT WAS A COOLANT FAILURE WHICH HAPPENS ON MODELS WITH GT1 ENGINE BLOCKS INCLUDING MY VEHICLE ABOVE. THE COOLANT FAILURE RESULTING IN ME ALMOST LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. PORSCHE OF NORTH AMERICA IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS AN ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES WHICH IS WHY I'M FILING A COMPLIANT. MY VEHICLE IS PRESENTLY STILL BEING DIAGNOSE FURTHER BY THE DEALER TO SEE IF ANY ADDITIONAL DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE TO THE MOTOR, WHICH HAS LEFT ME WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR OVER THREE WEEKS.
"PERMANENT" COOLANT HOSE ATTACHMENT FAILED; IT CAME LOOSE FROM ITS MOUNTING IN THE ENGINE RESULTING IN COOLANT SPRAYED ONTO TIRE, WITH COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL DURING A TURN , INCLUDING 270 DEGREE SPIN, AND LEAVING ROADWAY; FORTUNATELY NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE NEARBY, SO A COLLISION WAS AVOIDED. APPARENTLY, THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL FAILURE WITH THE GT3 ENGINE. NOTE: THIS WAS NOT A COOLANT HOSE OR HOSE CLAMP FAILURE, THIS WAS A STRUCTURAL FAILURE OF A PERMANENT ENGINE COMPONENT TO WHICH THE COOLANT HOSE MOUNTS. GIVEN THE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES AT STAKE, BOTH TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE AND THOSE ALSO USING THE ROADWAY NEAR THE AFFECTED VEHICLE, IT SHOULD, IN MY OPINION, BE ADDRESSED WITH A SAFETY RECALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT IS UNDETECTABLE UNTIL THE PART FAILS, WITH POTENTIAL LOSS OF LIFE AND SUBSTANTIAL PROPERTY DAMAGE. *TR
I NOTICED A SMALL COOLANT LEAK FROM THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THIS LEAK BECAME MORE PROMINENT OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP TO HAVE IT EVALUATED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT 4 OUT OF 6 COOLANT FITTINGS WERE LEAKING. THE DESIGN FROM PORSCHE HAS THE COOLANT HOSES AFFIXED USING AN EPOXY. AFTER MANY HEAT CYCLES AND TIME, THIS EPOXY FAILS AND COOLANT LEAKS FROM THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE MUST BE REMOVED TO PROPERLY FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT IS GOING TO COST ME APPROXIMATELY $6,000. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS CAR AND IS SOMETHING PORSCHE SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. *TR
ALL CONNECTION PIECES THAT CONNECT TO A RUBBER HOSE ARE LEAKING. THE PIPE THAT COMES OUT OF THE CASTING IS GLUED FROM THE FACTORY. AFTER TIME THE TUBE WILL MOVE AND WATER STARTS COMING OUT IN BETWEEN THE PIPE AND THE CASTING. YOU AN GO TO THIS WEB ADDRESS AND SE WHAT I'M RAKING ABOUT. THIS FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD AND NOW MY ON CAR IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO ALL 2007 PORSCHE TURBO ENGINES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND PORSCHE DOESN'T WANT TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. I'M GETTING IT FIXED NOW AND COST IS GOING TO BE OVER $2,000.00 DOLLARS. JUST LIKE THE IMS BEARING FAILURE ON PREVIOUS PORSCHE CARS IT'S GOING TO TAKE AWHILE BEFORE PORSCHE WANTS TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP ANYONE WITH THIS ISSUE. I NOTICED A SMALL POOL OF COOLANT UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I BELIEVE THE CAR IS SUFFERING FROM A COMMON PROBLEM OF THE COOLING FIXTURES THAT ARE GLUED ONTO THE MOTOR RATHER THAN WELDED. AMAZING THAT A CAR THIS EXPENSIVE WOULD HAVE SUCH A POORLY THOUGHT OUT PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I WILL TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR ESTIMATES BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT AN ENGINE REMOVAL IS REQUIRED AND ALL COOLANT FIXTURES NEED TO BE WELDED. THIS IS A RATHER EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE A VERY FLAWED DESIGN. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR ONLY A FEW TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT AND NOTICE A POOL OF COOLANT EVERY TIME THE CAR IS PARKED. I WILL NOT DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL FIXED AS I UNDERSTAND THE COOLANT LEAK CAN BE A HAZARD TO BE ME WHILE DRIVING AS WELL AS THE CARS BEHIND ME IF I SUFFER A CATASTROPHIC COOLANT LOSS. *TR
COOLANT LEAK CAUSED BY FITTING FAILURE. REPAIR REQUIRES ENGINE REMOVAL TO REPLACE PLASTIC FITTINGS. *TR
CAUSE OF PROBLEM IS DUE TO CLUTCH MASTER SLAVE CYLINDER INTERNAL LEAK. PREMATURE FAILURE OF SLAVE CYLINDER. CLUTCH PADDLE WAS DEPRESS AND WILL NOT RETURN FULLY. FEW DAYS LATER, CLUTCH PADDLE WOULD STAY PUT ON THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. CHECK OUT THE BLOG AND IT IS A VERY COMMON PREMATURE FAILURE FOR THIS TYPICAL MODEL HOWEVER, PORSCHE DIDN'T SELL ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO GET ON BOARD WITH THE COMPLAINT. *TR
MY CAR BEGAN LEAKING COOLANT. AFTER TOWING MY CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP I WAS TOLD MY METAL COOLANT FITTINGS ARE HELD IN WITH EPOXY AND ONE OF THEM HAD FAILED. TO REPAIR THIS IS A $6000.00 JOB. AFTER CALLING THE DEALER I FOUND OUT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM BUT THAT PORSCHE IS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP THE CAR OWNERS PAY FOR IT AT THIS TIME. I THINK ANY TIME YOU HAVE A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IS THAT EXPENSIVE TO FIX YOU SHOULD AT HELP A LITTLE WITH THAT PROBLEM. *TR
COOLANT HOSE COUPLING CAME LOSE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT SPEED, RESULTING IN LOSS OF ALL ENGINE COOLANT. COOLANT SPILLED RESULTED IN TEMPORARY REDUCTION OF VEHICLE TRACTION, FORTUNATELY WITHOUT INCIDENT. ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO POSSIBLE OVERHEATING IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. *TR
COOLANT HOSE COUPLING CAME LOSE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT SPEED, RESULTING IN LOSS OF ALL ENGINE COOLANT. COOLANT SPILLED RESULTED IN TEMPORARY REDUCTION OF VEHICLE TRACTION, FORTUNATELY WITHOUT INCIDENT. ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO POSSIBLE OVERHEATING IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. *TR
SUDDEN COOLANT LINE FITTING FAILURE. THE EPOXY FAILED AND A COOLANT FITTING COMPLETELY POPPED OUT OF THE ENGINE HOUSING NEAR THE ALTERNATOR. RESULTED IN RAPID COOLANT LOSS. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED/HAULED APPROX 140 MILES TO REPAIR FACILITY NEAR MY HOME. I HAVE NOT YET SEEN THE BILL FOR THIS SERVICE. I AM HAVING ALL COOLANT FITTINGS WELDED TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING TO ANY OF THE OTHER LINES. WORK IS NOT YET COMPLETE BUT THE ESTIMATED BILL IS $3500+. *TR
DRIVING AT A CONSTANT 50MPH AND HAD A VERY STRONG COOLANT SMELL COME THROUGH THE CABIN. PULLED OVER AND SAW COOLANT SLOWLY DRIPPING UNDER ENGINE. LET CAR COOL DOWN AND DROVE HOME. HAVE NOT DRIVEN CAR SINCE. SCHEDULED A APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER FOR 08/08/13. *TR
COOLANT PIPE FAILURE. AFTER DRIVING BACK FROM THE AIRPORT AND PARKING, NOTICED HUGE COOLANT POOL FORM UNDER THE CAR. TOOK CAR TO SHOP AND THEY SCOPED THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND FOUND THE COOLANT PIPES HAVE STARTED TO SEPARATE. SHOP SAID THEY HAVE DONE MANY OF THESE REPAIRS, AND THAT MANY TRACKS WILL NOT LET 911 TURBOS ON THEM UNLESS THEY HAVE THESE WELDED BECAUSE OF THE HIGH NUMBER OF SEPARATIONS OF THESE PIPES. SEEMS LIKE THE EPOXY METHOD OF SECURING THESE IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THESE CARS. *TR
I AM REPORTING THE ISSUE OF COOLANT LINE FITTING FAILURE. I HAVE NOT HAD A FAILURE YET BUT THAT MY MECHANIC HAS ADVISED ME THAT THIS ISSUE MUST BE ADDRESSED AND REPAIRED BEFORE THERE IS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THIS IS A KNOWN AND EXPENSIVE ISSUE SO RATHER THAN WAITING FOR A FAILURE, I WAS ADVISED BY A MECHANIC THAT IT IS GOING TO FAIL AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
DUE TO A NUMBER OF REPORTED FAILURES OF THE ENGINE COOLANT LINES ON THESE VEHICLES (SEE HTTP://FORUMS.RENNLIST.COM/RENNFORUMS/997-GT2-GT3-FORUM/592328-CATASTROPHIC-COOLANT-HOSE-COUPLING-FAILURE-REGISTRY.HTML FOR REFERENCE), I HAD A PREVENTATIVE PROCEDURE PERFORMED WHERE THE COOLANT LINES WERE WELDED INTO PLACE. IT SEEMS THAT THE ADHESIVE WHICH HOLDS THE LINES IN THE ENGINE FAILS AND ALLOWS THE LINES TO BREAK AWAY FROM THE ENGINE, CAUSING A LARGE COOLANT LOSS AND POTENTIALLY AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD A LOCAL SHOP REPAIR THIS ISSUE BY WELDING THE LINES INTO PLACE ON THE ENGINE. *TR
NO INCIDENT OCCURRED. HOWEVER, BASED ON MY KNOWLEDGE OF THE FAILURE OF THE COOLANT FITTINGS IN MY CAR AND WANTING TO TAKE A PROACTIVE STANCE I ELECTED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH A REMEDY. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP ON ANOTHER MATTER, THE ENGINE HAD BEEN REMOVED ALLOWING LIMITED ACCESS TO A NUMBER OF THE COOLANT FITTINGS. SINCE THE DEALER DISAVOWED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM AND WAS THEREFORE UNWILLING TO HELP I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO MECHANICALLY FASTEN THOSE COOLANT FITTINGS WHICH I HAD ACCESS TO. MIND YOU ALL WHILE THE DEALER LOOKED ON. I PROVIDED ALL THE TOOLS , PARTS AND PIECES WHICH I NEEDED TO DRILL AND FASTEN THOSE I HAD ACCESS TO. OTHERS , I SIMPLY SAFETY WIRED THE HOSE CLAMPS HOPING IT WOULD PREVENT A FAILURE IN THE FUTURE. MANY FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED AT HIGH SPEED TRACK EVENTS RESULTING IN CATASTROPHIC VEHICULAR LOSES. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE HAS BEEN NO LOSS OF LIFE WHICH IS JUST BY THE GRACE OF GOD. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND COVERED MANY MODELS.IT WAS THE FOCUS OF A FEATURE ARTICLE IN EXCELLENCE MAGAZINE, A MAGAZINE AVAILABLE IN BOOK STORES AND PRIMARILY DEDICATED TO THE PORSCHE BRAND. THE PORSCHE FACTORY HAD TO BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT LIKE MANY OTHER ISSUES ELECTED TO IGNORE IT. *TR

HELLO, I DO NOT HAVE AN INCIDENT YET. HOWEVER, I AM EXTREMELY CONCERN THAT THE COOLANT PIPE WILL COME APART WHILE DRIVING CAUSING MASSIVE COOLANT LEAK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PORSCHE 911 TURBO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANTIFREEZE LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE AND THE ENTIRE UNDER-CARRIAGE. THE VEHICLE HAD NEITHER BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. ..UPDATED 08-07-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOSS OF ENGINE COOLANT WAS LEAKING ONTO THE REARS TIRES, CAUSING LOSS OF TRACTION.
I AM SUBMITTING THIS DUE TO THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE COOLANT LINES COMING OUT OF THE MOTOR BLOCK. THIS SERIES OF CARS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DROP ALL OF THE COOLANT OUT WHILE DRIVING. I ELECTED TO HAVE THE COOLANT HOSES SECURED AT A COST OF $3100. I DID NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING AND CRASH OR CAUSE ANOTHER DRIVER BEHIND ME TO CRASH. *TR
I DRIVE THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON THE TRACK APPROXIMATELY 5 WEEKENDS A YEAR. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE ENGINE COOLANT PIPE FAILURES ON THESE GT3'S AND I FEAR I WILL BE NEXT AND FEAR IT MAY CAUSE OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO CRASH. STARTING TO SEE WEEPING FROM A PRESSED AND GLUED COOLANT LINE AT THE ENGINE. IT WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED VERY SOON AS IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF IT FAILS WHILE DRIVING. COOLANT WILL POUR ONTO THE REAR TIRES AND CAUSE THE REAR END TO SLIDE. I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED. VERY POOR MFG DECISION BY PORSCHE. THESE FITTINGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THREADED, PINNED OR SECURED IN SOME OTHER MANNER. USING GLUE IS JUST RIDICULOUS. *TR
COOLANT FITTINGS WERE PINNED AFTER CAR STARTED TO SHOW A SMALL WEEPING LEAK ON ONE OF THE FITTINGS. MEZGER ENGINE 911'S SPLIT THE FITTINGS AND CAN CAUSE RAPID COOLANT LOSS AND A SUDDEN LOSS OF TRACTION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON I-79(3 LANE HIGHWAY) AT 70 MPH WHEN I NOTICED A LARGE CLOUD OF SMOKE/STEAM FROM THE REAR OF MY CAR. I THEN NOTICED OTHER CARS PULLING OFF TO THE SIDE TO GET AWAY FROM ALL THE COOLANT SPRAYING FROM MY CAR. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. OUNCE I WAS ABLE TO GET PORSCHE DEALER TO LOOK AT THE ISSUE, IT WAS INDICATED THAT MY COOLANT FITTINGS FAILED AND SEPARATED FROM THE ENGINE(KNOW ISSUE). *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PORSCHE 911 TURBO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, HE NOTICED A STRONG COOLANT ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE COOLANT FITTINGS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,700. *TR
I APPROACHED MY PORSCHE 911 TURBO IN MY GARAGE AND NOTICED A SLIGHT BIT OF LIQUID WITH A PINK HUE (COOLANT) THAT HAD APPEARED TO HAVE LEAKED FROM UNDER MY CAR. I LOOKED AT THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WHICH WAS ~1.5-2 INCHES BELOW THE MAX FILL LINE. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO NEW GERMAN PERFORMANCE TO GET CHECKED OUT. I CALLED AND CONFIRMED THEY HAD AN AVAILABILITY. I TURNED ON MY CAR AND SHORTLY THERE AFTER A WARNING POPPED UP STATING "CHECK COOLANT". THE DRIVE WAS ROUGHLY 20 MILES. THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE NEVER WENT ABOVE 175 DEGREES (NORMAL OPERATING TEMP) AND THE OIL NEVER WENT ABOVE THE 190S (AGAIN, TOTALLY NORMAL). I PARKED AND WENT INSIDE, HANDED OVER THE KEYS, AND 5 MINUTES LATER THE CAR HAD PUKED COOLANT OUT THE BACK. NGP RE-PINNED THE HOSE TO THE RADIATOR AND TOPPED OFF THE TANK. 2 MONTHS LATER (13APR2013) I WENT TO MY GARAGE AND AGAIN NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT OF COOLANT ON THE FLOOR. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED NGP, CONFIRMED AVAILABILITY, AND TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THE COOLANT HOSES WERE EPOXIED IN AND HAD BLOWN OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE AND THE HOSES MUST BE EITHER RE-EPOXIED, PINNED IN, OR WELDED (THE SAFEST OPTION). *TR
HAD COOLANT FITTINGS WELDED TO AVOID CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. DONE IN SEATTLE; COST 3485 PLUS 250 SHARKWERKS FITTINGS = 3735 TOTAL. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THAT MY VEHICLE HAS SUFFERED A COMMON REPORTED INCIDENT RELATED TO THE COOLANT HOSES. THE VEHICLES COOLANT HOSES ARE LEAKING. COOLANT LEAK NOTICED AT COOLANT MANIFOLD FITTING DURING OIL CHANGE. ENGINE WAS WARMED UP PRIOR TO OIL DRAIN, THEREFORE WAS AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE. SEEPAGE AT FITTING INTO MANIFOLD WAS DETECTED BY SMELL AND THEN LOCATED WITH LIGHT AND MIRROR. I HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REMOVED AND THE FITTINGS WELDED BY MY LOCAL INDEPENDENT SHOP. ALL OF THE FITTINGS WERE GLUED INTO THE CASTINGS AND WERE PRONE TO FAILURE AT ANY TIME. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,800. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
I HAD A KNOWN ISSUE OF COOLANT LEAK WITH A HOSING/FITTING FAIL ON MY ENGINE. THE FITTING OR GLUE/EPOXY CAME LOSE CAUSING A MASSIVE LEAK OF COOLANT. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED AN EXTENSIVE DISTANCE FOR REPAIRS AND REPAIR WAS VERY COSTLY FOR A PART THAT WAS ONLY $300. TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, I HAD THE DEALER PIN THE FITTINGS SO THAT THEY WOULDN'T COME LOSE AGAIN. FOR A CAR WITH LESS THAN 50K MILES AND THE NUMBER OF FOLKS HAVING THIS ISSUE, I WANTED TO SUBMIT MY CLAIM. THE FOLLOWING IS THE PART THAT FAILED 997-106-039-72 AS WATER NECK. *TR
I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COOLANT HOSE ISSUE WILL EFFECT MY CAR AND CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM PORSCHE TO FIX THIS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION. THEY CALLED ME TO INFORM ME THAT ONE OF THE FITTINGS HOLDING MY COOLANT HOSES HAD COME LOOSE AND THIS WAS CAUSING A LEAK OF COOLANT INTO MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD NOT BE SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT REPLACING THE COOLANT HOSE FITTINGS SINCE IT WOULD SPRAY COOLANT ALL OVER MY TIRES AND THE ROAD. THEY SAID THAT COOLANT SPILLED ON THE ROAD WOULD MAKE IT VERY SLIPPERY AND COULD CAUSE CARS FOLLOWING ME TO CRASH. THE DEALER REPLACED ALL FITTINGS AND HOSES ON THE CAR. *TR
ON 06/09/12 (W/ APPROX 47K MILES) THE CAR BEGAN LEAKING COOLANT WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE RATE OF THIS LEAK WAS SLOW AND WOULD HAVE TAKEN SEVERAL HOURS TO COMPLETELY DRAIN THE COOLANT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF THIS ISSUE. ON 03/29/13 ( W/ APPROX 54K MILES) MY PREGNANT WIFE AND I WERE A FEW MILES FROM ENTERING THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR BEGIN TO LEAK COOLANT VERY RAPIDLY. ANOTHER MOTORIST FLAGGED ME DOWN AND ALERTED ME TO THE ISSUE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT HAPPENED. I PULLED OVER TO FIND A LARGE PUDDLE OF COOLANT UNDERNEATH THE CAR. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COOLANT DID APPEAR TO GET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE. I CONSIDER MYSELF EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED JUST BEFORE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED HAD THIS COOLANT LEAK OCCURRED A FEW MINUTES LATER. THE CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF THIS ISSUE. DRIVING A 2007 PORSCHE GT3 WHEN A HOSE FITTING CAME LOOSE FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK CAUSING A CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF COOLANT FROM THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE CAN OCCUR MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OTHER OWNERS OF 996 AND 997 MODEL PORSCHE 911 MODEL VARIANTS. MULTIPLE FAILURES HAVE BEEN NOTED IN PORSCHE FORUMS AND A RECENTLY PUBLISHED ARTICLE IN A GLOBAL MAGAZINE NOTED THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR SEVERAL YEARS WITH THIS ENGINE TYPE, WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM PORSCHE. *LN
THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT OF A VEHICLE I OWN BUT A COMPLAINT I BELIEVE TO BE SAFETY RELATED. SOME PORSCHE MODELS LIKE 911 AND BOXTER HAVE A SIDE MARKER LIGHT THAT IS LOCATED AT THE WHEEL OPENING. AT NIGHT THERE IS A BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT THAT SHINES BACK AT VEHICLES DRIVING BEHIND THE PORSCHE IN THE LANE NEXT TO THEM. THIS EITHER MAKES IT HARD FOR THE OTHER DRIVING TO SEE AS THIS LIGHT HAS A BLINDING EFFECT OR WILL GIVE THE DRIVER THE IMPRESSION THAT AN ON COMING CAR IS APPROACHING IN THEIR LANE. I BELIEVE THE FIX TO BE SIMPLE BUT THE CURRENT SITUATION IS UNSAFE. *TR
THE PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 PORSCHE TURBO IS THAT WHEN I GO TO FILL UP GAS THE TANK WILL NOT FILL PASS 2/3 OF THE TANK. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIMES THAT I FILL UP GAS AND PORSCHE HAS TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO FIX TO THE PROBLEM. I AM SURE THAT IT IS NOT ONLY MY CAR THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES.
