The air suspension in my Ram 1500 fails suddenly without notice. When the air suspension fails, the truck becomes very unsafe to drive. It is difficult to keep the truck on the road and it happens without warning. Sometimes it corrects on its own when I restart, other times I can make it work for a while by disconnecting the battery. Right now the driver side isat least 3 inches lower than the passenger side.
All at once I have an ABS , Brake, Traction Control on instrument panel illuminated.Service Trailer Brake diagnostic message. Will not set cruise. 06/03/24. Am not driving for fear of failure and presently cannot afford diagnostic repairs. Just turned 100,000 miles and is not used for daily uses. Cannot believe a failure of this magnitude happened with very low mileage
2103 Ram 1500 Electronic Power Steering failed or malfunctioned, my vehicle is available for inspection if needed The loss of power steering capabilities put my safety and the safety of my family at risk by the possibility of and accident and injury. The loss of power steering capabilities is still evident and has been electrically verified. The EPS failure has NOT been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or any other agency.
1. Air Ride Suspension Compressor and Air Bags keep going out. Yes it is available to inspect. 2. As i was riding coming from 4 hrs away from my home rear air suspension bag went as I was on Interstate 75 at a speed of 63 miles an hr, rear started swaying. 3. Independent Repair Service 4. No 5. An Air Suspension Service light came on then went out only saw it once maybe 3 months prior to the air bags malfunctioned As I have been reading up on this, it is a Popular issue with Ram 1500.
The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine failed to turn over. The contact then stated that the vehicle failed to deactivate from exit mode and the air suspension system compressor had frozen. Additionally, the contact stated that he waited for several minutes to start the vehicle. The contact also stated that after the vehicle was started, he was driving at an undisclosed speed however, the vehicle failed to switch from the exit mode causing the vehicle to drive lower to the ground than normal. The contact was concerned that the temperature below freezing would cause a failure with the air bag compressor. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the air suspension system needed to be replaced or replaced with springs as another option. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s side suspension air bag had failed causing the rear passenger side of the vehicle to lean down and reducing the height of the vehicle. The contact also indicated that the failure had rendered the vehicle undrivable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the passenger’s side rear suspension and air suspension module. The vehicle was fixed but later reoccurred. The contact indicated that the vehicle had been serviced for the same failure on four separate occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.
TRUCK AIR SUSPENSION CONSISTENTLY FAILS DROPPING TO THE FRAME BUMP STOPS ON DRIVES (MOVING) WHEN AERO MODE IS AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED. TRUCK DOES NOT RECOVER TO NORMAL RIDE HEIGHT AND PREVENTS PROPER HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE (IN MOTION). LONG DRIVES IN AERO MODE (ABOVE 60 MPH) CAUSES THE SYSTEM TO FAIL AND TRUCK BODY DROPS SHORTLY AFTER, OR FAILS COMPLETELY. TRUCK CANNOT HANDLE THE LOWERING MODES WITHOUT FAILING (AERO OR ENTRY EXIT). TRUCK WILL ALSO LOWER ITSELF WITHOUT WARNING (STATIONARY). WAS WASHING (STATIONARY) TRUCK AND CLEANING WHEEL WELL WHEN REAR OF TRUCK STARTED TO DROP. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, ANYONE CHANGING A TIRE OR WORKING UNDER THEIR TRUCK COULD GET CAUGHT OR CRUSHED WHEN SUSPENSION FAILS OR DROPS WITHOUT WARNING. DRIVING WHEN SUSPENSION FAILS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL WHEN TRUCK COLLAPSES TO FRAME (NO SUSPENSION). THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO VIOLENTLY HOP OFF THE PAYMENT (TIRES LOSING CONTACT WITH ROAD) EVEN WITH THE SLIGHTEST BUMP IN THE ROAD. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE TRUCK AND IT'S BEEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 5 MONTHS. I'VE REPLACED THE AIR COMPRESSOR, VALUE BLOCK (WHERE AIR SUSPENSION LINES INTERSECT) AND AIR LINES. DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. I'VE COMMUNICATED THIS ISSUE TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE RAM. NO RESPONSE YET. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND RAM NEEDS TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM OR PROVIDE AND EFFECTIVE RESOLUTION \ FIX. PLEASE HELP. SUSPENSION PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ONGOING FOR SIX MONTHS. 03/15 IS THE LATEST OCCURRENCE.
The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact stated the vehicle had seized and the air ride system became inoperable. The front end was lower than the rear end. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the contact was informed that the air ride pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 99,618.
MY VEHICLE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION, WHERE THE FRONT END HAS LOWERED AND THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WILL NOT RESPOND. I HAVE LOOKED ON SOME WEBSITES AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND FOR SOME, A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE NOT FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, AND WONDERING WHY. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN 2019 AND DID NOT REALIZE THERE WAS AN ISSUE THAT DOES NOT HAVE REMEDY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS SUCH. MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME, ALTHOUGH , MANY ON THE WEBSITE COMPLAINED THAT IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING.
MY TRUCK HAS AN AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. THE ISSUE BEGAN WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG BEGAN TO LOWER THREE INCHES OVERNIGHT. THEN ON THE HIGHWAY I RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM THE TRUCK SAYING THE SUSPENSION NEEDED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. WHEN I GOT TO THE DESTINATION BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SUSPENSION FAILED AND WAS RIDING ON THE FRAME. I HAVE HAD THE ASCM AND NITROGEN REPLACED, BUT THE BOTH FRONT SUSPENSIONS LOWER 2-3 INCHES WHILE IT SITS OVERNIGHT.
VEHICLE HAS 77,000 MILES AND @ 1000 MILES AGO A NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN RIDE AND HANDLING. RIDE HAS BECOME VERY STIFF AT ALL SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MPH. VEHICLE ALSO HAS A TENDENCY TO GIVE THE FELLING OF FLOATING WHEN CORNERING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANY CODES TO TELL THEM SOMETHING IS WRONG? THEY HAVE CHANGE MANY PARTS, SHOCKS, IDLER ARMS, RUBBER SUSPENSION BUSHINGS, ETC, THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE ROUGH RIDE, BUT CANNOT FIND THE REASON? I BELIEVE IT IS A SENSOR OR REGULATOR VALVE, THAT CONTROLS THE AIR SUSPENSION AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND WHEN CORNERING. THE TRUCK RIDES LIKE THE THERE IS EXCESSIVE AIR PRESSURE IN THE AIR BAGS TO SOFTEN THE RIDE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS,
IMMEDIATE AIR SUSPENSION SERVICE REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY LIGHT COMES ON. THE VEHICLE BOUNCES SO BAD IT IS HARD TO DRIVE. TOOK TRUCK IN 5 TIMES FOR SERVICE AT DEALER AND STILL NOT FIXED
THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION DOESN'T WORK IN COLD WEATHER AND IT DROPS TO THE BUMP STOPS AND RIDE IS TERRIBLE. AND KEEPS BLOWING FUSES MANY MANY TIMES WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 30 DEGREES
4 CORNER AIR BAG SUSPENSION DROPPED TO THE FRAME BUMPERS. THE FRONT SLOWLY LOWERED WHILE DRIVING AND THEN AFTER PARKING THE REAR DROPPED. CAN'T DRIVE BECAUSE THE TIRES ARE RUBBING.
WHILE DRIVING ON MY HE HIGHWAY MY TRUCK LOWERS TO THE BUMPER STOPS AND HAS NO SUSPENSION MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. THEY'RE SAYING IT IS THE WHOLE AIR SUSPENSION WHICH THEY JUST THROW A NEW PART AT AND RELEASE IT TO ME TO DRIVE WITHOUT REALLY FIXING IT.. MY TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2019 WITH A MOPAR MAX CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHEN THE EVENT HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER THE FIRST TIME, I HAD IT TAKEN INTO RAZZARI DODGE WHERE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS PURCHASED. IT HAS NOW BEEN IN THERE FOR THE 6TH TIME. I TOOK IT BACK JANUARY 28TH AND IS STILL THERE. EACH TIME THEY'VE GIVEN IT BACK SAYING IT WAS REPAIRED, I HAVE ALMOST WREAKED ON THE FREEWAY EACH TIME.. THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE DODGE STAR ENGINEERS BUT WON'T GIVE ME THE INFORMATION ON MY VEHICLE SAFETY.
AIR SUSPENSION GO OFF NO WAY TO CONTROL THAT CAR I CAN HAVE BIG ACCIDENT I HAVE 2 BABY IN THAT CAR WITH ME ALL THAT TIME
AIR SUSPENSION GO OFF ALL THAT TIME WHEN I'M GOIN FAS LIKE 70 THEN DON'T WNNT TRUN ON ANYTHING AND I HAVE MY FAMILY AND KIDS I DON'T LIKE THAT FEELING
ANYTIME THE WEATHER IS COLD I GET A "SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION IMMEDIATELY" MESSAGE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR IT AND THEY NEVER "FIND" A PROBLEM. TWO DAYS AGO I GOT A MESSAGE STATING THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION COULD NOT BE USED BECAUSE MY PAYLOAD WAS TOO HEAVY. THE PROBLEM IS, THERE WAS NOTHING IN MY TRUCK EXCEPT ME SO THERE WASN'T A HEAVY PAYLOAD. THIS MORNING MY TRUCKS FRONT END WAS RESTING ON THE EMERGENCY BUMP STOPS AND THE AIR SUSPENSION WAS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY AND NEITHER MY DEALERSHIP NOR FCA WILL COVER THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH IS A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE YOU CAN FIND MANY REPORTS OF ISSUES LIKE THI.
I PURCHASED THIS 2013 RAM ON OR ABOUT JUNE 15, 2018. ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION REQUIRES IMMEDIATE SERVICE ALARM WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THREE TIMES (ONCE WITH A SERVICE TECHNICIAN IN THE TRUCK), ONCE WHILE ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND ONCE WHILE PARKED. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, ZEIGLER OF PLAINWELL EACH TIME FOR REPAIRS. I FINALLY TOLD THEM TO KEEP THE TRUCK SO THEY LET ME SPEND NINE HOURS, LOOKING AT 12 TRUCKS, BEFORE SETTLING ON A 2015 RAM 1500. I SAY SETTLED BECAUSE THE FINAL TRUCK WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT ALSO HAS THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION. I COMPLETED A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT ON THE AIR RIDE FAILING ON THE 2015 ON FEBRUARY 8, 2019, AS WELL. I JUST HEARD FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE SAME PARTS FAILED ON THE 2015 AND THIS 2013, THE LEFT FRONT AIR SPRING AND THE PUMP & MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY. IF THESE PARTS KEEP FAILING OVER MULTIPLE YEARS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE RIDE GOES FROM SMOOTH TO DRIVING ON LOGS INSTEAD OF TIRES, REGARDLESS OF SPEED, SO THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL OF CAUSING A CRASH.
WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE, THE AIR SUSPENSION FAILED. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED TO THE STOP BUMPERS. THEN THERE WAS A MESSAGE THAT READ: IMMEDIATELY AIR SUSPENSION REPAIR/ SERVICE REQUIRED. THE FRONT BEGAN TO RAISE UP AND THEN ANOTHER MESSAGE. AIR SUSPENSION COOLING DOWN PLEASE WAIT. FINALLY THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE DROPPED TO THE BUMP STOP (SAFE MODE). THE AIR COMPRESSOR CRACKED, RELEASING ALL THE NITROGEN. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH DODGE RAM AIR SUSPENSION.
