I HAD THE AEM RECALL AND THE TRUCK IS EXTREMELY SLUGGISH UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY WARM. EVEN IF IT SITS FOR 1/2 HOUR OR MORE IT IS VERY UNRESPONSIVE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. HARD TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION ETC. WHEN IT WILL BARELY MOVE.
FCA ISSUED A SOFTWARE UPDATE KNOWN AT "AEM" AFTER THEY LOST THEIR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I HAD MY TRUCK UPDATED ON 5/29/19 WITH THE "AEM", ROTARY SHIFT AUTOPARK RECALL UPDATE, THE SEAT BELT RECALL UPDATE, AIRBAG RECALL UPDATE, AND THE TAILGATE RECALL UPDATE. I ALSO HAD A CATASTROPHIC EGR SYSTEM FAILURE THAT MADE MY TRUCK INOPERABLE FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE IS NOW UTTERLY UNPREDICTABLE. AFTER THE INITIAL START, I RANDOMLY HAVE NO LOW-END POWER. THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY LURCHES FORWARD AT FULL SPEED WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR FROM A FULL STOP. THIS MORNING I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A DEAD STOP INTO TRAFFIC. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT BARELY INCHED FORWARD FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. SUDDENLY IT HIT FULL POWER AND LAUNCHED INTO THE ROADWAY, BARELY IN TIME TO KEEP FROM BEING T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SOON THEREAFTER I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WAITING FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO STOP SO THAT I COULD TURN LEFT. THE LIGHT TURNED YELLOW AND TRAFFIC STOPPED SO I TRIED TO TURN. MY TRUCK STUMBLED AND BARELY MOVED UNTIL IT AGAIN, LAUNCHED FORWARD AT FULL POWER CAUSING THE READ END TO SKID OUT TO THE SIDE AND STRIKE THE CURB OF THE SIDEWALK. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE NOW HAS A COMPLETELY RANDOM SHIFT PATTERN. WHEN CRUISING AT 55 MPH THE ENGINE MAY BE RUNNING AT 1500 RPM OR IT MAY BE 2250 RPM. THE INABILITY TO SHIFT CORRECTLY AT HIGH SPEEDS MEANS THAT I CANNOT RELIABLY MERGE WITH, OR OVERTAKE TRAFFIC. IT ALSO MEANS THAT MY TRUCK CANNOT RELIABLY TOW A LOAD WITHOUT POSING A THREAT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IT'S NOT PREDICTABLE AND IT'S DANGEROUS.
MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR AN "APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION" AEM. IT WAS STATED THAT, "THE AEM WAS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF YOUR VEHICLE ATTRIBUTES...ETC" AFTER MY VEHICLE RECEIVED THE AEM IT CHANGED MY VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY. 1. THE VEHICLE LOST THE LOW END POWER AND YOU HAVE TO STEP ON THE GAS JUST TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND. I'VE EXPERIENCED LAG TIMES THAT EXCEED 4 SECONDS. THIS HAPPENS EITHER FROM BEING AT A FULL STOP, CASUAL, OR FREEWAY DRIVING. 2. WHEN GOING UP A STEEP HILL AT SLOW SPEEDS (15 MPH FOR EXAMPLE) THE VEHICLE SHIFTS UP UNTIL THE TRUCK BOGS DOWN AND ALMOST COMES TO A STOP. PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR REVS THE ENGINE UP, PAUSES FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN DROPS INTO A LOW GEAR AND JERKS FORWARD. THIS LASTS MOMENTARILY UNTIL THE VEHICLE UPSHIFTS AGAIN AND BOGS DOWN. THIS CYCLE IS REPEATED OVER AND OVER IF YOU HAVE TO ASCEND SLOWLY. 3. WHEN ACCELERATING UNTO THE FREEWAY, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 8TH GEAR. IT HOLDS AT 2100+ RPM AND WON'T SHIFT UP UNLESS YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR! THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD ON THE ROADWAY AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ADDITIONALLY, THE AEM HAS CAUSED MY TRUCK TO GET A 20% REDUCTION IN MPG. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES AND OPENED UP A CASE. I WAS JUST RECENTLY SENT AN E-MAIL REPLY SAYING "THEY" ARE FINISHED WITH THE INVESTIGATION AND, "YOUR CONCERNS WITH THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE HAVE BEEN FULLY DIAGNOSED BY OUR CERTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IS A COMMON AND ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN; THIS MEANS THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING WITHIN ITS FACTORY ENGINEERED SPECIFICATIONS AND THERE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ANY REPAIRS THAT WILL ALTER THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE TO MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS." FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES WILL NOT REPAIR/RESTORE MY VEHICLE TO BE SAFE AND MEET THE SPECS THAT I PURCHASED!
' THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED 9/20/2019 WITH THE DIPSTICK SITTING OUT UNDER THE HOOD, THE ENGINE COVER NOT ON, WITH A SCRATCH ON THE LEFT FENDER, SCRATCHES ON EACH SIDE OF THE BUMPER, WRONG TIRES AND RIMS, MY RIGHT FRONT LIGHT AND BLINKER ARE NOT WORKING, AND MY TRUCK HAS GREASY HAND PRINTS ALL OVER IT. TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD LIKE YOU TO REFUND THE $306.04 FOR THE COOLANT FLUSH(DONE), REPAIR THE SCRATCHES ON THE BUMPER AND FENDER,FIX THE HEADLIGHT AND RETURN MY ORIGINAL TIRES AND RIMS. WHEN I FIRST LEARNED OF THIS PROBLEM, I CONTACTED CHRIS DOOLEY AT BOERNE DODGE 9/21/2019, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD REFUND $306.04, REPAIR THE SCRATCHES AND HEADLIGHT(BOERNE SAYS THESE ARE COMPLETE). I BELIEVE THAT THIS RESPONSE IS UNFAIR BECAUSE I NEED MY CORRECT TIRES.. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM BOERNE DODGE ON 5/17/2019 SO THEY SHOULD HAVE RECORDS OF THE TIRES THAT WERE ON THE TRUCK. MY VEHICLE CHECKUP REPORT FROM BOERNE DODGE ON 8/8/2019 SAYS MY TIRES WHERE AT 8/32 AND I HAD A COURTESY TIRE CHECK FROM FIRESTONE SHOWING THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE IS 6/32, LEFT FRONT IS 4/32 AND THE REAR TIRES ARE AT 11/32 (BRAND NEW). FIRESTONE STATED THAT IN LESS THAN 1,000 MILES THERE IS NO WAY MY TIRES WENT FROM 8/32 TO 6/32 LET ALONE 4/32. ALSO, WOULD ONE OF YOUR USED TRUCKS BE SOLD WITH TIRE TREADS THAT DIFFERENT? THE DIFFERENCE IN THESE TREADS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE'S DIFFERENTIALS AND/OR VISCOUS COUPLINGS. FIRESTONE ALSO SAID THAT THE BRAKE DUST ON THE FRONT TIRES WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS BEING REPLACED WHICH IAS STATE BY THE MANAGER OF YOUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 9/23/2019 WHEN I WENT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES ABOVE. I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN TO ANOTHER CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY SAID THE TWO FRONT TIRES ARE REMOVED WHEN AN ENGINE IS REPLACED. AT THE TIME OF MY TRUCKS REPAIR THERE WERE 3 OTHER TRUCKS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM SURE MY TIRES AND ANOTHER TRUCKS WERE SWITCHED.
TL* THE CONTACT'S SON OWNED A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A PHONE CALL REGARDING HER SON BEING INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HER SON MAY HAVE OVERCORRECTED WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RECEIVE THE REPORT TO FIND OUT MORE DETAILS REGARDING THE INCIDENT. THE CONTACT'S SON PASSED AWAY AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED IN EIGHTH GEAR, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INTO SIXTH GEAR. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE FUEL MILEAGE DECREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARLOCK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF TUPELO (966 CROSS CREEK DR, SALTILLO, MS 38866, (662) 842-2277) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EGR COOLER BURST AND WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,435. *BF *TP
AFTER HAVING THE EMISSIONS ADJUSTMENTS FROM THE FCA SETTLEMENT WITH THE GOVERNMENT I NOTICE AT TIMES NOW WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP IT HESITATES ON TAKE OFF NOW AND TAKES A MIN BEFORE SEEMING TO GET THE POWER TO GO. VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM ENGINE BAY. MOTOR CUT OUT AND THEN BURST INTO FLAMES.
JUST LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION SERVICE IMMEDIATELY MESSAGE COMES ON AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THE TRUCK DEFLATES TO RIDE ON NO SUSPENSION AND BOUNCES AND SWERVES EVERY TIME YOU HIT A BUMP. SUPER DANGEROUS
AFTER AEM UPDATE THEIR IS A THROTTLE AND TURBO LAG THAT HAS PUT ME IN HARMS WAY ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THE ENGINE FAILS TO ACCELERATE FOR SOME TIMES UP TO A BLOCK MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MERGE SAFELY WITH TRAFFIC THIS HAS RESULTED IN NUMEROUS EXTREMELY CLOSE CALLS. BOTH ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS THE PROBLEM IS IN THE NEW SOFTWARE THAT UPDATED THE REQUIRED AEM THIS PROBLEM IS BEING IGNORED BY FCA AND YOU HOW MANY ACCIDENTS OR DEATHS BEFORE YOU ACT?
VEHICLE HAVING A TICKING NOISE FROM TOP OF ENGINE AFTER LOW MILEAGE. THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THE PROBLEM IS BAD MANUFACTURED VALVE & CAMS. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD CAUSE ENGINE CEASED ON HIGHWAY, I HAVE A V6 ENGINE, THE MANUFACTURE HAD FIXED LEFT SIDE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOW HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE RIGHT AND WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAD BEEN A RECALL AND NOT WARRANTY DUE TO THE MANUFACTURE KNOWN THAT THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM, THERE IS A LOT OF THE SAME COMPLAINT ON THE INTERNET , THEY ONLY REPAIRING IT UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT IF IT FAILS AND NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. MY ISSUE HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY.
DID THE AEM RECALL EMISSIONS REPROGRAM. THE TRUCK NOW HAS VERY SLOW ACCELERATION WHEN COLD. YOU HAVE TO FLOOR THE THROTTLE TO GET IT TO MOVE WHEN COLD. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR LEAVING A STOP. THE FUEL ECONOMY HAS DROPPED TO 20-21 MPG FROM 25 AND HIGHER. IT IS A MUCH DIFFERENT AND NOT ENJOYED TRUCK ANYMORE. TALKED WITH DEALER. THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS ALMOST EVERYONE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS. NOTHING THEY CAN DO BUT SAY "HOPEFULLY A DIFFERENT RE FLASH OR TUNE WILL BE SENT AFTER THE COMPLAINTS" WISHING NOW IT WAS JUST A SIMPLE BUY BACK OFFER.
MOTOR CAUGHT FIRE AND DESTROYED VEHICLE. THIS WAS PARKED AT A HOME.
DID THE FLASH UPGRADE TO FIX THE RECALL V08 AND EVER SINCE THEN IT HAS NO ACCELERATION WHEN COMING OFF A STOP. IT HAS A LAG OF A SECOND OR TWO AND IS VERY SCARY WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC. IT HAS SUCH A LAG THAT PULLING OUT THAT THAT YOUR NOT SURE THAT YOU WONT GET IN A ACCIDENT.
TRUCK HITS BUMPS AND IT LIKE SLIDES ALL OVER THE ROAD. AND I HAVE A CLUNKING NOISE ON PASSENGER SIDE DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S FROM. DEALER LOOKED COULDN'T FIND OUT WHAT IT WAS. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A BUMP AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL. THAT'S HOW BAD IT MOVES. MY WHEEL BEARINGS SEEM OK, AND MY TIE ROD ENDS SO NOT SURE IF SHOCKS COULD CAUSE CRAZY MOVEMENT FROM BUMPS OR NOT.
VEHICLE HAS LESS THEN 36000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS BACK AT THE DEALER TO REPAIR EXHAUST MANIFOLD BROKEN BOLT/WARPED EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM BUT WARRANTY REPAIRS WILL STOP UPON EXPIRATION OF WARRANTY. WHERE RAM ACCEPTS THE FACT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, SHOULD THEY NOT BE LIABLE? IT HAS BEEN OUT OF THE SHOP FOR THE REPAIR ON THE RIGHT BANK AND IS NOW AT THE SHOP FOR THE LEFT BANK.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT RECEIVER FAILED TO PROPERLY LATCH AND HOLD THE SEAT BELT IN PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS WAS FIRST DISCOVERED.
I HAVE A 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL TRUCK. IT RECENTLY HAD THE UPGRADE TO THE EPA APPROVED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION PROGRAM AS A RESULT OF THE LAWSUIT BETWEEN THE EPA AND FCA, LLC. THIS NEW PROGRAM HAS INDUCED A "DEAD ZONE" IN MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL THAT IS, IN MY OPINION, DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD THIS NEW PROGRAM FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND TWICE HAVE EXPERIENCED NO ACCELERATION WHILE PROGRESSIVELY PRESSING THE PEDAL WHILE TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION. THIS IS SCARY AND UNACCEPTABLE. MY CLAIM REP AT FCA, LLC INDICATED THAT FCA, LLC IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT BASICALLY I AM STUCK WITH THE PROGRAM. THE TRUCK DID NOT DO THIS BEFORE THE RE-PROGRAMMING UPGRADE. ANOTHER CASE OF "WE'RE FROM THE GOVERNMENT, AND WE'RE HERE TO HELP."
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500 THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL AND THE ODOR OF SMOKE WAS PRESENT THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES SEIZED AND PRODUCED SMOKE THE DEALER DIAGNOSED FAULTY CALIPERS THAT REQUIRED REPLACING THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE VEHICLE SPEED SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND THE ODOR OF SMOKE WAS PRESENT. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES HAD SEIZED AND WERE SMOKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER BOBB AUTO GROUP. 13007 WICKER AVE, SEIRR LAKE IND WHILE DIAGNOSED THAT THE CALIPER WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
AFTER HAVING RECALL, V08 DONE ON MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL TRUCK. I HAVE AN EXTREME LAG WHEN TAKING OFF. IT IS SO BAD IT COULD BE DANGEROUS WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A COMPLETE STOP. IT IS A DEAD PEDAL WITH NO ACCELERATION WHEN YOU PUSH DOWN ON PEDAL. THIS OCCURS WHEN EVER I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. I DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE THE V08 UPDATE. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A VERY WIDE PROBLEM AMONG RAM 1500'S THAT HAVE HAD V08 COMPLETED. IS THERE A FIX OR UPDATE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR LEVER FAILED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. THE FUEL SENSOR ALARMED ALERTED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR FAILED AND THE FUEL LEVEL DISPLAYED ZERO; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT NEW THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR COULD BE REPLACED WITH THE SAME PART AND WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY FOR TWO YEARS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT A NEWLY DESIGNED FUEL LEVER SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,186.
BIG LAG WITH ACCELERATION FROM STOP. THIS IS SINCE THE FCA REFLASH FOR THE REBATE
AFTER RECEIVING MY TRUCK BACK FROM A RAM DEALERSHIP WHO PREFORMED THE REQUIRED AEM EMISSIONS RECALL, IT HAS NOT RUN THE SAME. THE IS A NOTICEABLE MPG DROP BOTH IN THE CITY AND ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE IS ALSO A SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN THE RESPONSE OF THE TRUCK WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS NOTICEABLE WHEN LIGHTLY ACCELERATING WHILE IN TRAFFIC OR WHEN YOU HAVE TO AGGRESSIVELY ACCELERATE TO EITHER AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE OR WHEN GETTING UP TO SPEED OF MOVING TRAFFIC.
I HAD THE UPDATED AEM INSTALLED IN MY 2015 RAM ECO DIESEL. NOW AT TIMES I STEP ON THE GAS AND IT LAGS REALLY BAD(NO POWER). THIS COULD BE BAD WHILE IN TRAFFIC ETC

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT CYLINDER ONE WAS MISFIRING AND THE CRANKSHAFT VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. JACKSONS OF ENID CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (4405 W OWEN K GARRIOTT RD, ENID, OK 73703, (580) 234-5400) WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1,500 FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE EGR HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR AWHILE NOW. THE TRUCK ISN'T THE SAME AS WHEN I BOUGHT AND I FEEL I PURCHASED A LEMON. IT DOESN'T NOT MEET MY EXPECTATIONS AND I FEEL I HAVE LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. *TR

AFTER READING ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS ON FORUMS I TOLD MYSELF TO BE HONEST WITH MYSELF AND KEEP A OPEN MIND AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED. WELL WITH CERTAINTY I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT ALL THE COMPLAINTS ARE LEGITIMATE. IT IS A DIFFERENT PERFORMING VEHICLE. LARGE LAG IN ENGINE POWERING UP FROM A STOP. ONE HAS TO TAKE THE HESITATION THAT IS NOW PRESENT INTO CONSIDERATION TO BE SAFE WHEN CROSSING A INTERSECTION OR OUT INTO TRAFFIC ANYWHERE. I AM 63 YEARS OLD AND CONSIDER MYSELF A SAFE CONSCIENTIOUS DRIVER. BUT HAVE TO BURY THE ACCELERATOR UP TO 3000 RPM WHEN PULLING OUT I TO TRAFFIC!!! THAT IS CRAZY. IT DID NOT PERFORM THIS RADICAL TO EASILY CRISS AN INTERSECTION PRIOR TO THE UPDATED ECM. AFTER RESOLVING RECALL FOR EMMSUONS ON MY 2015 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS LAGGING. AFTER I MAKE A TURN ONTO A ROAD THE TRUCK FAILS TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDDLE IS BEING PUSHED. IT HAS ABOUT A 3-4 SECOND LEG TIME. IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD IN A 90 DEGREE TURN GOING THROUGH A GREEN LIGHT ONTO ANOTHER ROAD. I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED BY TRAFFICKING THAT WAS ORIGINALLY 150-200 FEET AWAY WHEN I ORIGINALLY TURNED ONTO THE ROAD. THE LAG IS ALSO NOTICED IN PASSING SITUATIONS.

THE DEALER STATED THAT DUE TO THE SYSTEM UPDATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD TAKE TIME TO BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO THE UPDATE AND THAT, OVER TIME, THE VEHICLE WOULD RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED WHILE DRIVING HOME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WERE STILL AWAITING ANOTHER SOFTWARE UPDATE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GRADUALLY FAILED INCIDENT TO A STRIKE ON A CONCRETE VERTICAL POLE WHILE IN A TURN APPROX 10MPH IN PARKING LOT. ALIGNMENT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY OFF. ALIGNED, BUT THE STEERING STILL CAUGHT/ FRICTION DURING TURNS, STEERING WOULD NO LONGER SCENTER UP. TOOK TO 3RD PARTY, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE. BARELY USED VEHICLE, AND AFTER PARKING AND POWER OFFF, AT NEXT START THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING TOTALLY FAILED, NEEDED TO APPLY 40-50 LBS OF FORCE ON STEERING WHEEL TO GET IT TO DO LIMITED TURNING, AND IT WOULD FREEZE IN THE NEW POSITION. UNDRIVEABLE, PAID TO TOW TO DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS NOT DUE TO STRIKING THE BOLLARD, BUT THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND IT STARTED RIGHT THEN AFTER STRIKING THE BOLLARD, AND THAT IT BECAME WORSE OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS WITH VERY LITTLE USE THEN TOTALLY FAILED. THERE IS A RECALL, BUT NOT MY VIN.
MY VEHICLE IS A RAM ECODIESEL. FCA WAS CAUGHT INSTALLING SOFTWARE TO FRAUDULENTLY REPORT EMISSIONS DATA AND WAS ORDERED BY THE EPA TO INSTALL NEW SOFTWARE TO BRING EMISSIONS INTO COMPLIANCE. I GOT THIS SO-CALLED "REPAIR" IN AUGUST IN SO DOING, MY VEHICLE (AND MANY OTHERS) DEVELOPED AN ACCELERATION LAG THAT IS QUITE DANGEROUS -- PARTICULARLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS JUST STARTED. YOU BEGIN TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND THEN THE VEHICLE JUST STOPS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATION. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO FCA. FCA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME. I HAVE ASKED FOR LOANER UNTIL THEY HAVE A FIX AND THIS HAS BEEN DENIED. I HAVE ASKED FOR A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE BUT THEY SAY THIS VEHICLE IS OPERATING "AS DESIGNED." I AM CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH ARBITRATION AND WILL FILE A LAWSUIT IF UNSUCCESSFUL. IT IS CLEAR THAT FCA DOESN'T REALLY CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SAFETY AND WON'T DO THE RIGHT THING UNLESS COMPELLED TO DO SO. I CAN PROVIDE COPIES OF THE BULLETIN SAYING THERE IS NO FIX, EMAILS I HAVE SENT TO FCA, REPAIR NOTES FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BUT THERE IS NO FIX OR ANYTHING ELSE NEEDED, THOUGH I SUSPECT OTHERS HAVE ALREADY SUPPLIED THIS SO IT WOLD E REDUNDANT. IF YOU WANT IT, PLEASE ADVISE. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
ECODIESEL - FOLLOWING RECALL AEM (APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION) UPDATE, THROTTLE RESPONSE IS EXTREMELY POOR AT TIMES. WHEN TURNING ONTO A ROADWAY FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE IS SOMETIMES VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE, RISK OF COLLISION DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO INCREASE TO SAFE SPEED. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE UNDER THIS CONDITION THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY ABRUPTLY ACCELERATE WHICH SOMETIMES RESULTS IN WHEEL SPIN (LOSS OF TRACTION). THIS HAPPENS IN DRY AND WET CONDITIONS.
FOLLOWING THE EPA MANDATED REPROGRAMMING, THE VEHICLE SUFFERS THROTTLE LAG TO A DEGREE THAT IT IS UNSAFE. FROM A STOP, ESPECIALLY WHILE WARMING UP, A LAG OF 3 TO 5 SECONDS IS EXPERIENCED. SOMETIMES WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC, THE TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO MOVE, ONLY TO HESITATE AFTER IT'S ALREADY TOO FAR INTO THE INTERSECTION TO ABORT THE ACTION. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED SINCE THE MANDATED REPROGRAMMING.
AFTER RECEIVING THE APPROVED EMISSION MODIFICATION RECALL UPDATE TO MY TRUCK, THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS VERY VERY SLOW AND INCONSISTENT. PREDICTING WHETHER THE TRUCK WILL RESPOND TO YOUR INPUT EACH TIME YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR IS IMPOSSIBLE. THIS HAS PUT ME IN SOME DANGEROUS SITUATION PULLING INTO TRAFFIC OR MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY THE AEM RECALL WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO CHANGE THE PERFORMANCE OR MPG OF THE VEHICLE AND YET IT MADE A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE TO BOTH.
AT LOW SPEEDS, OR WHEN REVERSING, THE VEHICLES STEERING LOCKS UP, AND CANNOT BE TURNED. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT, OR TO THE RIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING 2,000 MILES FROM HOME, ON A HIGHWAY AT 65MPH IN MONTANA WHILE PULLING A CAMPER TRAILER, I GOT A MESSAGE TO IMMEDIATELY REPAIR MY AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. I STOPPED, CHECKED OUT THE SYSTEM AND FOUND THE TRUCK WAS SITTING FLAT ON THE AXLE, CAUSING AN EXTREMELY ROUGH RIDE. OTHER PARTS OF THE TRUCK ARE SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHEN ROAD BUMPS ARE ENCOUNTERED. IN MY OPINION, IT IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION, BUT BEING SO FAR FROM HOME, I HAVE NO CHOICE. I READ ONLINE FORUMS AND LEARNED WHERE MANY HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND THAT RAM KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM. I AM SEEKING A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THIS SYSTEM. COSTS TO THE CONSUMER HAVE BEEN REPORTED AS BEING ANYWHERE FROM $2,000 TO $7,000. FCA AND RAM TRUCKS NEED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO LOSS OF CONTROL. I WILL BE CONTACTING OWNERS IN ALL ONLINE FORUMS REQUESTING THAT THEY FILE A COMPLAINT ON THIS ISSUE, TO ILLUSTRATE THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM.
AFTER HAVING THE FCA APPROVED AEM RECALL ACCOMPLISHED, MY TRUCK COULD NO LONGER MAINTAIN SPEED UP HILL, WOULDN'T DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY, INCREASED DEF USAGE, DECREASED FUEL ECONOMY, EXTREMELY BAD TURBO LAG (3-5 SECONDS ON AVERAGE AND UP TO 10). TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN INTAKE MANIFOLD. THEY REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND 2 INJECTORS. APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, WHILE DRIVING ON I-15 NORTHBOUND, MY TRUCK ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND MY TRUCK BURNED TO THE GROUND.
V08 RECALL. ACCELERATION FROM ANY SPEED, INCLUDING STANDING START IS DANGEROUSLY DELAYED, PULLING INTO AND ACROSS TRAFFIC IS UNPREDICTABLE. THERE IS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE UNTIL AROUND 70% THROTTLE, THEN ACCELERATION IS UNPREDICTABLE AND LATE. FUEL CONSUMPTION IS BEYOND PASSABLE FOR SUCH A POTENTIALLY EFFICIENT AND POWERFUL ENGINE. THE PURPOSE OF THE VEHICLE IS LIGHT TOWING. THE POWER TRAIN HAS BEEN TUNED TO THE POINT THAT IT'S USELESS, THE VGT FIGHTS AT ABOVE 70% CAPACITY TO MAINTAIN TORQUE AND POWER TO THE WHEELS. FUEL INJECTION TIMING RANGES FROM -17 TO +5 DEGREES, ONLY TO MAINTAIN EMISSIONS EFFICIENCY, THE NEW ECU PROGRAMMING COMPLETELY IGNORES EFFICIENT ENGINE MANAGEMENT- FOCUSING ON EMISSIONS CONTROL. SYSTEM AND ENGINE COMPONENTS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR THE CRAZY EGT TEMPS THAT COME WITH THE LATE FUEL INJECTION. ENGINE FIRES- INTAKE MANIFOLD IN PARTICULAR- ARE BECOMING VERY COMMON. WILL IT TAKE A FEW FATALITIES BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. ALL TO PROVE SOME EPA POINT. I COULD BE GETTING 30 PLUS MPG, WITHOUT THE EGR SYSTEM, STILL TARGET SPECIFIC EXHAUST GAS EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS AND GET SOME RELIABILITY WITHOUT FEARING MY VEHICLE WILL BURST INTO FLAMES OR GET T-BONED TRYING TO CROSS TRAFFIC.
AFTER V08/V11 RECALL WAS PERFORMED I NOW EXPERIENCE LOSS OF ACCELERATION TILL WARM UP. LIKE A DEAD PEDAL. ALSO A LOSS OF A CONFIRMED 5-6MPG. IT WAS STATED IN THE RECALL WE WOULD NOT LOOSE MILEAGE. IF WE DID IT WOULD BE VERY MINIMAL. 5MPG IS NOT MINIMAL. MY TRUCK WILL BARELY STAY IN 8TH GEAR NOW. JUST BOUNCING BETWEEN 7TH AND 8TH. NOW EVERYONE IS WORRIED ABOUT ALL THE FIRES DUE TO EGR VALVES STICKING OPEN AND CAUSING THE PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLDS TO CATCH FIRE. MY WIFE IS VERY NERVOUS TO TAKE IT ON TRIPS OR EVEN PARK IT IN THE GARAGE. WE HAD NEW SMOKE DETECTORS ADDED IN GARAGE INCASE TRUCK DOES CATCH ON FIRE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THESE ISSUES. AS WITH HUNDREDS OF OTHER ECODIESEL OWNERS, I AM EXPERIENCING A DANGEROUS THROTTLE LAG WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. IF I TRY TO TURN LEFT AND MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THERE IS A SEVERAL SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE TRUCK STARTS BUILDING SPEED. I FEEL THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH. I HAVE UNINTENTIONALLY CUT PEOPLE OFF BECAUSE OF THIS THROTTLE LAG AND ANGERED OTHER DRIVERS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS AFTER THE V08 RECALL ON INTERNET FORUMS. FCA IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A FIX COMING ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET BUT WHO KNOWS IF THAT IS TRUE OR HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE. THE AEM WAS "NOT SUPPOSED TO ALTER VEHICLE PERFORMANCE" ACCORDING TO THE RECALL LETTER. OBVIOUSLY THAT WAS NOT TRUE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED IN A TIMELY MANOR. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY A SAFETY RECALL. SOME ARE ALSO CLAIMING THEIR VEHICLES ARE CATCHING FIRE AFTER THE AEM WAS PERFORMED.
AFTER COMPLETING THE EMISSIONS RECALL ON THE ECO DIESEL A SIGNIFICANT LAG IN ACCELERATION HAS OCCURRED. THIS LAG IMPACTS ABILITY TO KEEP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC WHEN MERGING ETC. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AND DRIVER CANNOT DETERMINE ACCELERATION BY SIMPLY PRESSING THE PEDAL DOWN - SOMETIMES WITH A 5-10 SECOND DELAY IN RESPONSE TO ACCELERATE. THIS CAN OCCUR FROM A STOP, AND MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, FROM A STOP LIGHT AND MAKING A UTURN IN THE AUTHORIZED AREAS, WHEN MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY RAMP.
