My truck is experiencing the “hemi tick”. Upon research, this tick is a common defect in RAM trucks that was supposed to be fixed in later models. Not true. Not only do I need to pay thousands for replacing the manifold, it will be a problem again. The hot/cold engine melds the aluminum and steel, creating a warped or split manifold. To replace it is immense labor, hence costly fees, as the bolts are too small to adequately remove and snap. If drilling out, metal could get into other parts of the engine causing severe damage. I bought this used at $30,000 miles (approx). Per my mechanic, the manifold has already been altered once. They claim it’s a safety concern, which includes “loss of power … especially at highway speeds. This is in addition to the repair costa and loss of value. The earliest appointment is a month away. Yes, it could be inspected upon request. It has been inspected by Arbos and G&D auto repair. Both whom are unable to remove the bolts and referred me to a dealership. I have an appointment with Hights Chrysler in Madison, Maine on Nov. 30th. The quotes I have received range from $500 to $2,000. The ‘warning’ is the ticking sound during idle.
The ABS, traction control and emergency brake light all turned came up on the dashboard. I believe a past recall May 16, 2018 was of a wiring issue effecting the cruise control. Since all three lights have came on, the cruise control feature is not available for use. This is a concern within the Ram community and needs to be addressed.
Power steering service warning came on while turning at low speed.Experienced jerky and erratic steering at lower speeds. Adviced by mechanic to have towed for service, not safe to drive.
Power steering on left hand turns quits intermittently at different speeds. Right turns seem to be unaffected.
Exhaust manifold left and right warped. Exhaust manifold bolts broken left and right side. This causes exhaust leaks into cab of truck. This has been a problem with the Hemi engines for awhile now.
The antilock brake electronic control module failed resulting in loss of antilock brake system, traction control and cruise control. The loss of antilock brakes caused a near miss.
My truck has had an open recall for some time. The dealership (Coon Rapids Chrylser, Coon Rapids, MN) is putting me and my 4 children at risk by not diligently repairing my vehicles and ordering parts properly. I had service appointment scheduled to correct the recall. They only let you schedule the appointment when they receive the parts in stock. They confirmed they had the parts and I was contacted to schedule the repair. When I showed up the day of service, they said they only had one of the parts to replace and had to order another part so I had to reschedule. I rescheduled two days later and I confirmed at that time they had the new parts in stock. My service appointment was again today and I called to confirm they have the parts. They stated that they do not have the parts and they are 10 days away and my appointment needs to be rescheduled again. They keep delaying for some reason and their delay continues to put me at risk.
Steering lamp turned on dash. NO power steering. Vehicle very hard to control. Problem comes and goes when vehicle turned on and off. Maybe it will work...maybe it wont. Has happened for 3 months now. EXTREMELY dangerous. Vehicle is not driveable with this issue. Cost to repair: $3000 estimate. Mfgr SHOULD be repsonsible! Danger to ALL vehicles on road.
ABS module failure. No parts available. The vehicle goes into limp mode upon acceleration rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive.
The HPFP failed 9/15/23 in my ecodiesel traveling down the freeway in three lane traffic. I lost all acceleration , power. no brakes or power steering, I was nearly killed by several semi's because I lost all speed. It nearly caused a massive accident potentially killing me and several others in the process. I had seconds to react it left me traumatized from the event. I had to call a tow truck- which cost me $300- They left me stranded at the dealership in a different state hours from home with nothing. I was without my truck for a week. It was then taken back to my homestate and taken to a local dealership- in which they had it for a few weeks and said it was a dirty radiator filter charging $240 . I had my truck back for 4 days before it started doing the same exact thing and had to be taken back to the dealership. They then admitted it was the recall after all and said I was not allowed to remove it off the property but there was no fix. I was not given a loaner vehicle- I was not helped in any way- My truck is my own vehicle- Im a single female that commuted back and forth to work an hour away from home. They had my truck for 13 weeks- in which they said they did a work around - within 5 minutes of taking it- lost acceleration again, hesitating, multiple issues. Tried to get it back to the dealership- drove it a few times and again multiple issues- hesitations, no acceleration. Was in route to take it back to another diesel mechanic and it completely died and had to have it towed again which was another $500. The next day they said they couldn't fix it and it had to be put on a trailer and taken back over to the other dealership. They DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE!!!! They keep charging all this money- and my truck is still unsafe!!! I lost my job because of it. I have received zero help and absolutely no compensation. That truck is going to kill me or someone else in the process.
ABS Control Module which is under engineering review thru stellantis and unavailable for the last 2+ years, it affects the abs, trailer brake control and cruise control. It was diagnosed by marlette chrysler jeep dodge in michigan. It started by randomly applying brakes on a curve at slow speeds then according to the dealer completely failed causing cruise control failure, trailer brake control failure and obviously abs function. It was a sudden onset that lead to complete failure from first symptoms to complete failure within 2 days. I realize there is a certain recall on rams for the abs but from reading online the majority of us dont qualify for that recall even tho our vehicles are being affected by it and this needs to be addressed.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that prior to taking the vehicle to the dealer he used a code reader to diagnose the vehicle and retrieved DTC codes: P0299 and P2D2F. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the EGR valve was replaced; however, after retrieving the vehicle, the contact drove for approximately one mile when the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact notified the dealer of the issue and was informed to bring the vehicle back. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed the mechanic retrieved DTC codes: P0299 and P2D2F. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the EGR was replaced however, the dealer failed to test for DTC codes: P0299 and P2D2F as per the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 115,116. The VIN was unavailable.
I was driving my vehicle when suddenly I lost all control of power steering. The light came on and thank goodness I made it home safely as this was quite dangerous. I am EXTREMELY upset and annoyed that this has happened. When I research online it shows that there was a recall for my model year but only ~400 affected trucks. I do not feel this is accurate as I have experienced the same exact thing. After taking it to a Ram Company they have informed me it is a power steering issue and it has now been there over a week with the part continuously being pushed back as it is on back order. If the part is on back order I assume there is an influx of people also having this issue. I now am without a vehicle for who knows now as it is not safe to drive with no power steering and illegal to do so in all 50 states. Please contact me with further questions. Thank you
Shortly after the purchase we received a TSB for dim low beams. We took it to our dealer and they increased the voltage to the low beams using a scanner. They seemed ok but still seemed dim compared to our other vehicles. Since the purchase of this truck we have replaced the low beam headlamps 7 times. Doing research on this problem it is wide spread with no remedy or fix from RAM. Just google dim headlights 2015 RAM it will fill the screen. This is a major safety issue and needs to be addressed.
Check engine light came on While driving up hill and shortly after I lost all throttle response and cruise control was disengaged. Vehicle started to slow and began to be sluggish. Still no throttle response. Pulled over. Put vehicle in park and then drive. Drove for next 2 hours with no issue. Checked with dealership and truck is throwing codes p066d and P0523. Truck has been fine so nice issue but still throwing those codes.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that after several attempts, he was able to restart the vehicle. The check engine warning light and the throttle control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the magnetic material attached to the tone wheel had delaminated and the engine lost the ability to synchronize the injector pulses and cam timing. The contact was informed that the powertrain control module (PCM) software needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact notified the dealer and was informed that the recall repair was previously completed on the vehicle and advised the contact to notify the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall was previously completed, and the contact was responsible for all future repairs. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that on numerous occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel intermittently became stiff, and the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. No warning light was illuminated. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The contact was informed by the dealer that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 191,000.
The electronic power steering has failed and does not currently work.
Took my truck in for engine light. Was told unfixable recall and they can’t give me vehicle back. That vehicle is my life. Without it I am unable to do what I need to do.
Intermittent steering loss All steering components replaced by dealer 2 years ago due to intermittent steering loss and the replacement unit is also experiencing same issue, intermittent steering loss. No warning lights or messages on vehicle now or the 1st time
COMPONENT: FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP FRAME "T-SLOT" BRACKET CORRODED TO THE POINT WHERE METAL WON'T HOLD THE LOAD OF THE FUEL TANK AND FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP IS DETACHED CAUSING THE FUEL TANK TO DROP. SAFETY CONCERNS: IF THE FUEL TANK WERE TO DROP AND CONTACT THE GROUND, THE FUEL TANK MAY DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING ENGINE STALL, AND IN THE EVENT OF CRASH, THE FUEL TANK MAY NOT REMAIN SECURED TO THE VEHICLE, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FUEL LEAK, FUEL LEAK INCREASE THE RISK OF A FIRE. THIS PROBLEM WAS DOCUMENTET ON RECALL # 18V160000 AND MY VEHICLE HAS EXACT CONDITION (CORROSION CAUSES FUEL TANK STRAP FRAME BRACKET TO BREAK ALLOWING FUEL TANK TO DROP) BUT FOR SOME REASON MY VEHICLE IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. NO INSPECTION BY OFFICIAL AUTHORITIES WAS PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE AS OF THIS TIME - AT THE SAM TIME I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIE THIS VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION. THIS OCCURED RECENTLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The message "The Vehicle Will Not Start. Service DEF. See Dealer” was displayed. The vehicle was jumpstarted and taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer reset the mileage countdown. The contact stated that unknown parts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I experienced an issue with a ticking noise coming from the engine. I took the truck to a local repair shop and they indicated that the problem was an issue with the valves not getting enough lubrication. The repair shop indicated that this is an issue with the 2010 - 2015 Ram trucks that they see multiple times every month. They indicated that a company has patented a change to the part that squirts oil onto the valves to correct the issue. To fix the issue I had to have the engine replaced. If I had not replaced the engine to correct the issue the engine could have seized or broken down while I was driving.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH and making a right turn, the vehicle jerked twice. There was white smoke coming from under the hood. The smoke was thick and obstructed the driver’s view before the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rod bearing had become inoperable, and an engine replacement was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
On August 27, 2023, on my home my 2015 RAM 1500 Eco Diesel lost all power at 70 mph and the "Electronic Throttle Control" light came on. I was able to get my truck home in "limp mode" and had it towed to the dealership the next day (August 28, 2023). Two weeks later, the dealership called and said that my truck had "fuel contamination" because there were "shavings and rust" in my fuel filter housing and it would cost $21k to replace the entire fuel system. I asked for a more thorough diagnostic because there is the open recall (Z46) on the vehicle related to the high-pressure fuel pump that will leave debris in the system. They then claimed that a "Stalantis engineer" looked at it and put a restriction on the vehicle to not be covered under recall warranty due to "fuel contamination." I asked for a detailed diagnostic report which they could not provide. I then filed a claim through Stalantis and went through a 2-month process and 4 different case managers who ultimately claimed that they couldn't cover it because of the fuel contamination restriction. So, I then filed an insurance claim who did their own investigation, including collecting a fuel sample from the truck tank, investigating the last fuel station I used, and interviewing the dealership. They concluded that the issue was due to the recall (specifically, the fuel pump leaving debris in my fuel system) and was NOT external fuel contamination. They also claimed that the dealership would not provide a diagnostic report. Consequently, this could not be covered as an insurance claim and should be covered under vehicle warranty. All that said, I have no other option but to file this complaint as Stalantis has not been willing to even consider covering the vehicle despite the open recall, and an independent investigation. It is also my understanding that there is no approved fix for this recall, however I've been without a vehicle or a path forward for 3-months and feel Stalantis owes its customers a solution.
The vehicle has experienced multiple Turbo underboost code causing the vehicle to be put into limp mode without any explanation, Rhyme or Reason. The vehicle once this code is tripped places the vehicle into limp mode at which time virtually all power is lost this is now happened three different times with no explanation completely randomly the last time was when pulling a trailer uphill resulting in a near crash experience and being stranded on the side of the highway I had to force reset the computer by cycling the ignition to get the code to go away there was no problems prior to this code popping up or after. When this occurs it can be extremely dangerous when at highway speeds considering that the vehicle goes into limp mode and you're no longer able to go more than 10 miles an hour let alone if you're pulling a trailer it's virtually impossible to move the vehicle and if you're going uphill on a two-lane Highway with fully loaded 18 wheelers behind you at 65 mph and you all of a sudden come to a crawl you can see how this poses a major risk for injury or accident
Intermittently loosing power steering at all Speeds. Very scary to drive.
My vehicle experienced loss of power assist steering, as detailed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 "Loss of Power Steering Assist If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required, especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash"
The gas taps on my truck rusted out cause the gas tank to drop almost touching the highway. Re-call on 2014 and older trucks but none on 2015 and new with the same problem.
The Power Steering in my vehicle fails while driving. It works sometimes and then stops working. This happens while driving. This is extremely dangerous to myself and others as it becomes very difficult to steer the vehicle while driving.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the steering wheel became firm. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Approximately 8/1/23 upon starting the truck I found that the power steering was sluggish. I did not lose control but found some resistance when turning the steering wheel. The power steering fluid was not low and there were no indication of any leakage. This lasted two to three days and then cleared up on its own. On 8/15/23 it was driven to several destinations and the steering was optimum. Upon starting the truck after my last stop the power steering was again sluggish , worse than the previous episode. I had seen on television after the first occurrence that the Ram1500 was once recalled due to power steering problems and my vehicle falls into the manufacture date for known problems. This is available for inspection and there was no accident. It does pose a hazard if it starts while I am driving. The truck has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center but I have spoke to one.
Powerstering failed. I'm going around a corner and lost my powersterinf and almost went into uncommon traffic. Just a few days later my dad told me he hurd a raidio show talking about my exact problem. I called a dealer and they told me they have no recalls. Now I am hearing the adds on the radio about 2015 and 2016 dodge rams having a contaminated circuit board. There were no worning lights at first but now I have a check engine light on. I had a local macanic look at the truck and he told me that he believes it's the contaminated circuit board.
Power steering intermittent failures
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to confirm when part would be available. The failure mileage was 163,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message that the ABS was unavailable was displayed and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was hauling a trailer when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 38,570.
The crankshaft went out and needed to replace complete engine. I know other newer models ram 1500 trucks have the same problem but mine is a 2015, it was not listed on the recall.
According to Ram, some vehicles have a faulty circuit board that may cause the electronic steering to fail. I'm currently experiencing intermittent steering loss, that jolts the wheel. This seems dangerous and ram should replace it asap.
ON [XXX], I brought my truck to the dealer because the ABS light and traction control light were staying on. The dealer hooked it up to their diagnostic machine and it said the vehicle a Failed ABS Control Module. The dealer said that part was not available to April of 2024. I went back in April to the Dealer, Part still not Available! I called Ram Corporate and they said the part was in engineering. Today (August 22,2024) Ram Corporate called and said the part is at the dealer. (11months of waiting). I asked why wasn't there a recall on this item? i was very disappointed in the Ram Corporation. I felt like they should of covered the cost for this item. So now I'm writing this message to see if anyone else has this same issue, thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Power Steering in and out. Could be driving and making a turn and all of a sudden the power steering fails and wheel tightens up
Steering issues, it is becoming difficult, as the steering wheel is getting harder to turn at times or either to loose. The steering is partially crooked as well. I have had an alignment completed on 8/3/2023, but the issue is still there.
The lifter is ticking for no reason I always use royal purple in my 2015 ram 1500 now for no reason out of no where it started to tick just driving to work. Now the more I research I find out that these hemi 5.7 engines are well known to tick because of the lift. If these lifters are well known to go out why haven't a recall been activated to fix the problem. I love my ram truck but now I'm going to have to spend money to fix it that I don't not have. That should recall these vehicles because this how they will lose customers.
While driving on the highway between Nenana and Fairbanks, AK, on August 9, 2023, I attempted to pass a slow moving RV towing a trailer. While in the passing lane, I accelerated and my vehicle suddenly loss power. I was forced to swerve out of the passing lane to avoid a collision with with oncoming traffic and the vehicle being passed. After that event, the vehicle would not exceed 3000rpms or 35mph up hills. Immediately after the event, the service engine light came on and the dash showed engine error codes. I took the vehicle to the dealer (Gene's Chrysler in Fairbanks Alaska). After inspection, they indicate that the magnetic surface of the engine tone wheel was delaminating and this initiated the sensor to cause a "limp mode" (mode that limits vehicle's speed). After that event, the vehicle also had trouble starting as though it was not receiving sufficient fuel. The dealer indicated that my vehicle's vin was not covered under the recall even though the problem matched NHTSA campaign number: 23V411. Stellantis’ own number for this recall is 66A. This recall is an expansion of recall 20V475. I feel that my vehicle needs to be added to this recall. Without my vehicle covered under this recall, my family is incurring the costs of a rental car until the new part arrives. The vehicle was dropped off at the dealer on August 23. The part is delayed and expected on October 15 (nearly a two month wait because of a vehicle defect that effects safety). The dealer indicated my vehicle is unsafe to drive. Why isn't my vehicle part of this recall? It is clearly the exact problem identified in the recall notice.
I was pulling out from my street that connects to a two lane highway. From my street you can see if cars are coming from quite a distance away. There was a semi truck in the distance going east bound in the direction I needed to torn into. There was absolutely enough room for me to merge out into the east bound lane without the semi truck even being affected. I was now about a 1/4 mile down the road and the semi was still aways back. Then, my truck started to sputter and not accelerate and as this a two lane road there at this point was nowhere to pull over. The semi was now coming up quick due to loss of power in my truck. I turned on my hazards by this time he was close and had to make an evasive lane change to avoid running into the back of me. Luckily, there was no on coming traffic. This is not the first incident of my truck losing power and almost being rear-ended. I purchased the truck from a dealer in December of 2022. They have not been of any help, and frankly they are not willing to do a thing to help. I'm at a loss and have no idea what to do. I feel I was sold a truck with a potentially dangerous recall that can cause a major car accident which could result in death. There is no resolve for this recall at this time. This recall not only puts my family at risk, it endangers the general public.
My truck has been at Dodge in fort Pierce Florida for recall number z46 and y63 for 8 months I have went over and above and beyond to call and try to get it switched over they're saying it's registered in Canada I'm getting no help they're acting like it's my fault they're not offering me a rental car or a loaner car I've lost my job I just need help getting something done maybe then purchasing it back I filed case numbers with no response I need help please
