The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact noticed while the vehicle was parked at a service center that there was gasoline leaking from underneath the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to his residence. The contact inspected the vehicle and found a leak in the main fuel line. The contact stated that the fuel line needed to be replaced. The local dealer was contacted to schedule the repair however, the contact was informed that the part would not be available for approximately 90 days. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,532.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. During the incident, the front end sustained severe damage but the airbag did not deploy. The driver sustained an injured neck and back which required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 96,000.
Hello, The safety problem is while driving the truck the fuel gauge needle drops to empty intermittently and a warning light flashes. Now not knowing how much fuel is in the tank is dangerous because running out of fuel especially on the highway will stall the engine followed by loss of brakes and steering. The dealer said its an electrical fuel sender resistor card inside the fuel tank that is shorting out, that alone scares me. Searching online I found out it's a common problem among 2016 Ram trucks. I will not let my family drive this truck until the electrical problem is fixed. Thanks for reading!
A recent service on my RAM prompted a discussion with another customer and subsequently the service manager of the dealer. The topic was exhaust manifold leaks with the RAM 5.7 liter hemi engine. The dealership was repairing 2 that day and the service manager says that’s a typical day. The issue is that after 40,000 miles, one or more of the exhaust manifold bolts fatigue and fail which causes an exhaust leak. Of course and exhaust leak in the engine room is a huge safety risk for the exhaust gases can be drawn into the passenger compartment through the intakes just behind the hood. The leak also causes an emissions violation and can cause fuel economy performance issues. This issue affects models from 2008 to present. RAM has made a design change to fix the issue but has not issued a recall. I was told that it’s highly likely I will have the issue. I cannot believe a recall has not been required. Exhaust leaks are extremely dangerous.
Fuel sensor has failed which appears to be a common problem with the 2016 Ram 1500, this is a very expensive fix for people on a fixed income for a part that has a history of failing. The dealer wants to charge in excess of $800.00 dollars for this repair installing the same part they know is going to fail in time. There are many blogs on the internet stating that the part fails at random miles. Imagine being out on the road and running out of gas in the middle of nowhere as you do not have the financial means to get this repaired. This part should be recalled and repaired as other parts are such as the air bag that might explode. This is very concerning for individuals that are paying for this repair. Thank you.
P275-60-R20-114S Tire tread is separated on 2 tires. It is worse on one tire & was noticed when getting oil change as it is on inside of tire not visible.
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that his wife informed him that the vehicle would not start after driving approximately 200 miles. The contact then drove the vehicle to the dealer and within 125 miles of reaching the dealer, the "contact your local dealer, the problem with the DEF system" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. Once in the possession of the dealer, the contact was informed that three bolts that connected the exhaust to the manifold had broken off causing the failure. The manufacturer was notified and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I was driving 50 mph down the road, when I started to accelerate (pass) around another vehicle when it just died. Got the check engine light along with oil pressure low warning. Coasted to a stop a ways down the road trying to get off on the side of the road. My 2016 Ram 1500 would not start after that. I put my Bosch code reader on the truck and it flashed P0366 which called out for the Crank Shaft sensor. Had truck towed to local dealer. This looks like it falls under the same recall as W58. In the process of getting the dealership to take responsibility of the situation and file a claim with their corporate office, because my particular VIN doesn't match their records of having this issue.
I bought a 2016 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel brand new from a Dodge, Ram, Jeep dealership. November 2021 I taking my son, who was 11 years old at the time, to a friends house. The route to the friend's house was through a farm area and the roads were hilly with moderate traffic. I remember driving down one of the hills and starting hearing an odd sound coming from the engine. The sound was sort of like a light thud or rocking sound. It started off quiet and soft at first but start getting louder and louder. We weren't very far from our destination so we continued on. We came to a stop at a stop sign at an intersection then proceeded through it when traffic was clear. We got up to about 35 MPH and the sound from the engine became extremely loud then all of the sudden the engine seized/shut off and all the electronic shut down. The power steering and power brakes were not receiving and any power so it became really hard to control the vehicle. I struggled to turn the steering wheel to the side of the narrow county road and was eventually able to stop the vehicle. I tried to restart the vehicle multiple times and each time was unsuccessful. Since the vehicle would not start, I had to order a tow truck to tow the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership looked at my truck and told me the crankshaft failed and they metal from the crank in my oil pan. When they told me this I started doing research to see if anybody else had this problem. I found a recall for 2014-2018 Ram ecodiesel trucks (W58/NHTSA 20V-475) that came out in February 2021. I brought this up the the service tech at the dealership and said it didn't matter me since my VIN was not included in the recall. Service tech recommended engine gets replaced since the metal found in the oil pan broke off from the crankshaft and traveled through the engine. The truck was towed back to my residence and has yet to be repaired. 6/8/23 - FCA Recall #66A/NHTSA Recall #23V-411 announced and my VIN is included.
Abs module that controls abs, traction control, and few other areas dealing with brakes has become disabled since 11/21. Not sure what is going on but doesn’t seem to be of any importance to Chrysler and I’m not sure where else to turn. Seems that a safety issue would be of some kind of importance but apparently once you have driven the vehicle off the lot then it doesn’t pertain to them any more. Several attempts with the dealership to get repaired and attempted to contact Chrysler to no prevail…I am no a dealership so I am unable to obtain any information. Asking for assistance in why it’s so difficult for Chrysler to get parts in 8 months. After contacting dealer they are telling me it is no guarantee to get parts before 8/1/22. Brakes…vital for safety on highways wouldn’t you think?
Engine caught on fire, been trying to get recalls replaced since 4/18/21 when all other recalls were taken care of
2016 RAM 1500 Air Suspension, I have seen many report of a faulty LEFT REARAIR BAGS dropping to the ground making unsafe to drive. I have seen many people repotting the Left Rear bag issues and when taking to the manufacture they refuse to troubleshooting and locate the issue but wants to replace the entire rear bags and compressor for more than $3000
The contact owns a 2016 RAM 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V632000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Purchased my 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 SLT Big Horn June 2019. At that point the previous owner had the truck in the shop and while there it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed. About January 2020 I stated having the famous Hemi Tick but not all the time. I'm very ocd on all maintenance of my truck, witch I or my husband and son; both certified diesel mechanics. I only run Valvoline Full Synthetic 5w-20 oil and a K&N Oil Filter and is changed before the 5k mark. Fast forward to Oct 2021 truck starts not wanting to start, Tick is very very loud and does it warm or cold does not matter. At times would not even start. Send it to the local dealership, with CEI on, they diagnosis as 4 manifold studs are broken, 800 bucks later they are replaced. But only 4, supposedly two on each side. Get truck back, drive maybe 5 miles CEI back on. Truck running as if it has no power, getting no fuel. Was able to get it home, called dealership next morning took truck back. This happened mutiple times. Called the main dealership in Edmond, Oklahoma in an attempt to get someone to figured out why I kept getting told my truck was fixed and it was not. Come to find out after 3 months in the shop the fuel pump yet again failed. Now, there is a recall and my vin is not included but yet I have had TWO failed fuel pumps. And now June 2022 I have the famous Hemi Tick again. To witch I can only guess is the other manifold studs that they for some dumb reason did not replace when they should have.
Safety recall not fixed, no part available
The Power Steering on my 2016 Ram 1500 is starting to act up. The Power Steering is tight when driving my vehicle especially when changing lanes, turning, and parking. I see that there was a recall for the 2015-2016 Ram trucks for Contamination on the electric power steering control circuit board. When I look for recalls on my vehicle there are none listed but my truck is showing all the same signs as this recall states. I have had my vehicle checked out by a licensed mechanic and he also stated that my truck is having the same issues that were listed in the recall. What can I do to have my vehicle repaired under the recall?
I took my truck into the shop for an oil change and discovered that the front fuel tank strap bracketed corroded and broke. Thank goodness I took my truck into the shop where the mechanic discovered my tank hanging. This caused me to look up recalls and found this below. I am in Hawaii. How can I get this fixed. March 8, 2018 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V160000 Front Fuel Tank Strap Bracket may Corrode If the fuel tank were to drop and contact the ground, a fuel leak may result. Additionally, in the event of a crash, the fuel tank may not remain secured to the vehicle, possibly causing a fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence in an ignition source, can increase the risk of a fire. On August 28, 2021, I was driving towards Huntsville, TX, on Hwy 30, a rural divided highway with two lanes in each direction. The speed limit is 70. The truck was empty except for me, and a few tools. I had the cruise control set at 60 mph and was going up a slight hill when then truck suddenly and violently popped out of gear. At first, I thought someone had hit me from behind. Fortunately, there was nobody close to me and I coasted to the side of the road and stopped. After a few minutes trying to calm down and read the truck manual--I never turned the engine off-- I followed the instructions to shift back to P (Park) and then select a gear. I did this and the bell ringing and flashing lights stopped. So I shifted to drive and took off again. This time I did not use the cruise control--just slowly got back up to speed. Then BOOM! Once again, around 60mph about 4 miles down the road, the truck popped out of gear a second time violently and suddenly with no warning. Once again, I coasted to a stop and just sat there halfway freaked out. Finally, I turned the emergency blinkers on and crept into Huntsville at 30 mph. The next day, Sunday, August 29, I started the truck to see what would happen, and the Check Engine light was no longer lit up. I phoned the Wischnewsky Dodge dealership in Huntsville, TX, and the Service Manager Chris Lovelady said I could bring the truck in and he would read the codes at no charge. On Friday, September 3, I met Service Manager Chris Lovelady at 11am and he downloaded the codes. I took a picture of the three codes (file uploaded below). He said the significant code of the three was P0984 Shift Solenoid 5 Control Circuit Range/Performance. He stated that since the codes were 'Stored' and not 'Active', he could not work on the truck--he said I had to drive it some more. If this incident had happened on the crowded freeway in Houston where I live, there most certainly would have been a wreck.
Vehicle recently began refusing to accept fuel, nearly stranding me on a road trip with no way to drive it. Tested on multiple pumps/stations and filling positions, and the problem persists. Cannot get more than 1/4 gallon of fuel into the tank without the pump shutting off automatically.

79,000 miles on 2016 Ram 1500 eco 4x4 has differential problems and the back axle. Makes the transmission over heat. Brakes also go to the floor have to double tap on the brakes to stop.
The electronic power steering rack went out without any warning
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING UNIT LOSS/FAILURE WHILE VEHICHLE IN MOTION. NO WARNING PRIOR TO FAILURE.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer informed the contact that the OBD reader did not retrieve a fault code. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 16,400.
Exhaust manifold leak
Ram 1500 Fuel Sensor malfunctions over time providing an empty reading when fuel level is well above zero. Part is poorly designed and can lead to confusion as to the actual fuel reading. In researching this issue, it appears that many other RAM 1500 owners are experiencing the same issue -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jlJjR2cDck.
Exhaust components broken (bolts which holding exhaust manifold)
Exhaust manifold bolts break every 5-6000 miles causing large leak at firewall. Potentially leaking exhaust gases into passenger compartment
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned, and the steering wheel was very difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but the manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number 16V167000 (Steering). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 28,000.
While driving the power steering stops working and it becomes difficult to steer. This only lasts for a few seconds then it begins to work again. I started noticing this a couple of weeks ago but it is getting worse the more I drive it. I am concerned that it is becoming a safety concern.
Engine speed surged while pulling into parking space. Bringing to dealer to have checked. No warning, or codes given. $1500 in damages to my vehicle and probably the same to the parked car in front of me. Worried about my safety now with this sudden acceleration.
I lost power steering while driving. The dealership said I need a new steering rack. Previous recall for this problem , same year as my truck, is said not to fall under the recall.
RE: Colorado State Patrol Case #[XXX] Fremont County Case #[XXX] Agency ORI #[XXX] VIN #[XXX] NHTSA SAFETY RECALL #18V332000 (May 23, 2018) Also referred to as #U61 Dodge Ram Campaign #U53 (October 1, 2018) Dear NHTSA Officer: On June 12, 2021, at approximately 4PM, my sister [XXX]was KILLED while riding her motorcycle along with her pleasure motorcycle group. While preparing to make a legal left turn from CO State Highway 69 on to Route 1A (38.30908° N 105.62018° W) my sister [XXX] was struck from behind, by a 2016 Dodge Ram Truck traveling 61-64 MPH with activated Cruise Control. In Fremont County Court hearing Jan. 30, 2021, the driver [XXX] referred to the judge, that he was unable to deactivate his 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 cruise control, thereby causing the DEATH. In open court [XXX] referred to cruise control RECALL NHTSA Campaign #18V332000 and FAILED Dodge Ram Campaign #U53 that discounted proper repairs ORDERED in the original NHTSA SAFETY RECALL #18V332000. IT APPEARS, that the disregard for proper repairs to be carried out on the cruise control system amount to MURDER of my sister [XXX] at the hands of Chrysler, Ram Trucks, and FCA US LLC. INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE OPENED on HOW or WHY GEICO Insurance ([XXX]'s Auto Ins. policy #[XXX]) declared his 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4X4 with approximately value of (at time of crash - June 12, 2021) $33,000, a total loss. THE EXACT DAY, a Saturday after the 4PM crash. Per Car Fax and notes from the court regarding release of the 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck. The truck was CRUSHED - EXACTLY 6 months +1 day after the crash. IMPORTANT TO NOTE, that Both Trooper [XXX] (C.S.P. Investigator with 26 years of service) was FIRED for "DISHONESTY" and his supervisor was also fired likely for same cause. Likely due, or at least, in part to my opening CBI investigation into this matter. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact was informed that only one part at a time was sent to the dealers. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
While driving, electric power steering was lost and 'Service Power Steering' warning showed on dash. Steering immediately became difficult which made keeping the truck in the correct lane difficult. When I got home, I disconnected the two electrical connectors to the electric power steering control module, reconnected the two connectors and power steering was restored.
While driving my 2016 Ram out of the clear blue I experienced power steering loss when rounding a curve at approximately 40 mph. I thought for sure I was going to collide with the vehicle in the opposite lane but with a hard tug to the right I managed to escape the unthinkable. Not really knowing what just happened and no warning lights illuminated I very cautiously continued my drive to work kinda moving the steering gently left to right to see if it would do it again. From time to time I could feel what seemed to be resistance against the direction I was turning the steering wheel. When I arrived to work I Immediately opened the hood expecting to see a problem with the power steering pump but didn’t see one. I then took it to my mechanic and he informed me that it has electronic steering and suggested I take it to the dealership. I then googled this issue and found it’s a much bigger problem in that Chrysler had a recall for the same problem in 2015-2016...the same period in which my truck was built but not included. Chrysler needs to stand behind what they build and fix this problem before someone gets killed. Myself and anyone else who owns a 2015-2016 Ram truck and has experienced this problem should have Chrysler remedy this under recall 16v167000.
When driving this Ram 1500 with electrically assisted steering it sometimes becomes almost impossible to steer when making a turn. problem is intermittent. i feel this is a safety issue in that i could possibly turn into oncoming traffic which can cause a catastrophic accident putting myself and other occupants at risk.
Power steering, Was driving down the road, when the steering wheel was jersey out of my hand. After pulling over, the power steering indication on dash appeared. I turn of vehical and restarted, steering worked fine. Same incident happened multiple time a few days later as driving down the road. The steering would not be responsive and then work. Now the power steering is out and has not return functional. The vehical has not been inspected as I am afraid to drive to shop and it has almost caused multiple accidents.
Truck was at the dealer for Recalls repairs & Maintenance. After weekend driving to work, engine fire occurred, truck totaled. Per nationwide insurance letter received 7-7 under "next steps" it gave this website to report this to you. I would like to be notified of outcome
2016 RAM 1500- Consumer states "We are asking for your help with a recall of our 2016 Dodge Ram pickup which has a problem with the High Pressure Fuel Pump. We have been waiting for almost 2 years for Dodge to resolve this problem and we are getting nowhere. I called again today June 12, 2023 and they told me they still haven't resolved how to handle the problem. We don't know where to tum for help. They have advised us that we shouldn't drive the truck on long trips because of the danger. Can you tell us what to do? Thank you in advance for any help you can give us. Recall Notice Z46/NHTSA 22V-406 attached.
On 5/27/21 while driving on a highway 295 in Virginia, the truck engine shutoff while driving 70 mph in lane 3 of a four lane highway. Engine would not restart and braking/steering was also affected. Diagnostics and Chrysler/Ram dealer mechanic confirmed the magnetic material on the tone wheel failed and the engine was not able to determine the position of the crankshaft so the engine stalled. The dealer attempted to address this using the W58/NHTSA 20V-475 software remediation of the powertrain control module but this failed. The dealer confirmed the tone wheel needed to be replaced. I have the defective tone wheel. I called Chrysler to report but they said this VIN # was not covered by the recall W68/NHTSA 20V-475 despite the circumstances being identical. There were no other warning lights or symptoms before this incident.
Truck is 5 yes old and the uconnect radio dose not work .tried everything to get it to work it just blinks on and off or gone to a blue screen and then back to the dodge emblem. Called uconnect they say no up dates on it ..
Unknown vibration at highway speeds, have taken to dealer and multiple shops. They all can’t find the problem. Balanced wheels multiple times, Changed wheel bearings, tires to different brand, new wheel they suggested still same problem. This vibration shakes seats and steering wheels at speeds above 65MPH. I see multiple people asking the same question with there rams.
Exhaust rear passenger bolts broke last year when vehicle had 60k miles and now has 130k and drivers side rear bolt has broken. Last time the warranty covered it and now my truck is out of warranty to do the driver side. I googled it and it seems to be a problem with 2009 rams with hemi. Exhaust leak is fairly loud and goes away as the engine warms up.. just wanted to see if there is so many clams of this same part (bolt) is or will there be a recall.... Because of the bolt braking they will have to replace the head.. Its like a $3,000 plus job.
When I bought the vehicle last year it was brought to my attention that something was loose in my front end that shouldn't be by a mechanic and it had only 75000 miles on it then . He had said it could lock up and cause a accident. My truck had been to the dealer I bought it at twice for part on the axel that was leaking some grease. I was told they are wear and tare parts, but they didn't say anything about it seeming loose . I went for inspection and I was told that I need a new front end axel assembly kit that is 3000$ and they took my inspection sticker for it saying it is unsafe to drive until fixed that it could lock up and cause a accident. This sounded just like what the guy told me at 75000 miles. I was told it was bad at the dealer I bought it from at the time of inspection and when I looked up online it said the milage it is good for 80000 to 100000 miles. There has been no warning and I did not notice a problem so I went to a mini mechanic he gave me a sticker but I am noticing the axel being bad now. I am scared to drive my vehicle and if this is the case that it goes bad every 80000 to 100000 miles shouldn't it be recalled? The mini mechanic told me dodge did not design the axel to be protected from dabre and to keep it in better condition to take it off and grease it every once in a while. Yes my truck is available for inspection upon request . Thank you would like a clear answer on this soon where I have a child that I don't want to have put in danger or those around me.
I HAVE A 2016 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL. THE COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED TO COMPLY WITH THE EMISSIONS LAWSUIT BROUGHT AGAINST FCA. AFTER THIS UPDATE, THE VEHICLE FUEL MILEAGE DROPPED ABOUT 18% WHICH IS LESS THAN THE ADVERTISED MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOST POWER (I HAVE NO WAY OF MEASURING) BUT A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE WHEN TOWING. LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, THERE IS A TERRIBLE THROTTLE RESPONSE LAG WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED SOME NEAR CRASH SCENARIOS FOR ME WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT ON A BUSY ROAD. SPECIFICALLY, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR WHILE ROLLING WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, THE THROTTLE MUST BE PUSHED BETWEEN 3/4 AND FULL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND (I'VE READ THIS IS CAUSED BY THE COLD TURBINE). THIS OCCURS EVERY DAY WITH THE MASTERS NEAR ACCIDENT OCCURRING TODAY WHILE LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERS AND MADE COMPLAINTS DIRECTLY TO FCA WITH NO SATISFACTORY ANSWERS TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS.
CRUISE CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY WORKS
