Exhaust manifold leak at less than 25,000 miles in a 2022 model year truck. This continues to be a problem with Ram, not offering extended warranty coverage and is affecting many vehicles with the 5.7 hemi engine, leaking to carbon monoxide risks, repair costs, increased emissions, etc. why Ram hasn’t been forced to address this preemptively especially since it can ruin the catalytic converter, release dangerous emissions, on top of the well known camshaft issues affecting numerous engines.. they’re getting away with manufacturing a defect product while nobody holds them accountable. While my repair is currently covered under warranty, I am without my vehicle until it is done. Others are even more unlucky paying out of pocket or in the case of most people nowadays, incurring an expense they can’t afford because of a defective design
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control(ESC)); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle jerked. Additionally, the battery failed to recharge. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the motor generator unit (MGU) and battery pack control module needed to be replaced; however, the battery pack control module was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
Both rear tail light assemblies shorted at the same time. This was confirmed by local Dodge dealer mechanic
My truck has been stalling at low speed, automatically shifting into park, and the emergency brake is automatically engaged. This occurs at random times, but typically as I approach or depart a stop sign or community gate. It has happened with other vehicles in the vicinity. The dealership has changed out the MGU, but it happened again the next week, 3 times. The dealership states that they are not receiving assistance from Chrysler.
I was pulling forward from a stop sign entering the intersection when my truck abruptly stopped and threw me into the steering wheel. An alarm was dinging and lit warnings were flashing. One alert said to release the emergency brake, so I released the emergency and pressed on the accelerator and nothing happened. The engine was shut off and in park. I was in a panic and didn't take time to see what all the warnings were. I started the truck and drove a mile home.
My truck is subject to a safety recall for the high pressure oil pump. Campaign 01A/23V-263. I took the truck in for the repair in December 2023. I was told that the parts were not available, and that the dealer would call me when the parts became available. No one contacted me, so I contacted Ram in March 2024. I was told that the parts still were not available, and that the dealer would call when the parts become available. As of today, August 23, 2024, I still have not been contacted and the repair has not been completed.
Shortly after beginning to drive, I approached a stop sign and the parking brake automatically engaged, and I could not drive. I had to shut the truck off, manually disengage the parking brake and then I was able to drive again. This has happened 4 or 5 times over the past couple of months. It's very dangerous and the dealers are telling me they can't do anything about it because they can't replicate the problem. This is extremely dangerous and is going to cause an accident.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that there was condensation accumulating in the rear taillights. The contact stated that the vehicle recently experienced electrical failures with the power window switch not raising or lowering the windows as needed. The contact stated that the radio and several other electrical gauges were inoperable. The contact stated that the 115-Volt Cargo outlet warning light was blinking. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that water had accumulated through the taillight assemblies and caused a short circuit of the rear right BUS system. The contact stated that the dealer dried out the taillights and all the wiring harnesses were reinstalled with the rear taillight assemblies. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that there was condensation accumulating again in the taillights. The contact stated that the Blind Spot warning light had flashed and then turned off. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after shifting into reverse(R), the back-up camera image was flickering. The contact stated that at other times the back-up camera display was not showing any images. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but eventually, the camera was no longer functional, and only displayed a blue screen. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the back-up camera wiring harness had short-circuited and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,933.
When placing truck in reverse, the backup camera displays a blue screen.
My 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting Uconnect 5. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. These issues have been ongoing for over a year now without correction and Ram has no answer on when there will be a fix. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.
2022 Ram 1500 with etorque Hemi, 46,000 miles. On 3 occasions, since August 9, 2024, the engine stalled upon the engine starting during stop start mode. All 3 occasions occurred at a stop sign. 2 stalls occurred in front of oncoming vehicles. No accident happened. 1 instance the vehicle the emergency brake was activated, the low battery voltage light came on, voltage showed 11.4 volts, and the voltage did not increase while driving .75 mile. Battery was charged over night. Latest occurrence, after restart the voltage would stay at 13.0 volts while driving over 20 miles.
On separate occasions, both the driver and passenger side visors spontaneously detached and fell into the line of sight while driving. In the case of the driver side visor, I was traveling on the interstate at approximately 75 mph when the visor failed and fell into my light of sight, impairing visibility. The failure was also sudden and distracting. The passenger side visor failed in the same way about 9 months later. It appears that a part securing the visor to the roof of the vehicle is defective and can fail without warning.
As I was driving up my driveway preparing to stop in front of the garage, the Ram accelerated out of control, as if someone else was driving the truck. I could not stop it, even with my foot on the brake, until the truck crashed into my house. Even stopped, the engine was revving/racing until I turned the ignition off.
Engine shut off while traveling on road way
My traction control light and ABS light keeps coming on and off(doesn't stay on long enough to produce a code. Dealership noticed light came on but can't do anything(still have warranty) and is not on the recall list for my 2022 Ram Laramine???
RE: Open NHTSA investigation to Ram & Jeep… Today, [XXX] at about 10am: While driving at low speed: My 2022 RAM 1500 shut off, put itself in park and activated emergency brake — this is the 2nd time in less than one month this has happened. I took truck to dealer (Central Florida Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) for service on 7/8/24 to address the first time this happened on [XXX]. There is an open nhtsa investigation into Ram/Jeep for 2022 vehicles shutting off… i need direction yo help address this issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Which specific part malfunctioned is unknown. I was slowing down as I was approaching a stop sign when the engine shut off. Next, the automatic emergency braking was activated. I had to restart my vehicle, disengage the parking brake, and shift back into drive. I continued to proceed on my way driving significantly under the speed limit, for fear of this occurring again.
While driving around 75 MPH on I-75 on 7/28/2024, my Ram truck seemed to stall and would not accelerate as I was driving in the middle lane. I tried several times to accelerate but the response was intermediate and not sustainable for more than 1-2 seconds. The experience reminded me of a time dozens of years ago in a different vehicle when I ran out of fuel. FYI- I had a 1/3 tank of fuel remaining when my issue occurred. Having no acceleration at this high of speed with heavy traffic put me and my family at risk. I safely pulled over and the engine automatically shut down when I put it in Park. There were no check engine/warning lights on the display. I waited about a minute and restarted the engine. The engine reved okay so I put in drive and completed my drive with no additional issues. I have an appointment with my local dealer next week to have this looked into. This is the only time that I've experienced this issue.
Happens once in every 5 times. If I'm sitting still about to gas it to pull out into traffic the gas pedal does not react causing a massive delay that has almost got me in a few accidents. I've also been at an intersection, stop signs, traffic lights and parking decks moving slowly and the trucks Emergency Brake will automatically be applied.
My truck randomly stalls, and which point the parking brake engages, sometimes in the middle of a turn or at a stop sign, This issue was the topic of a recall for the 2021 model year. Mine is a 2022 and is experiencing the same exact symptoms and issue.
Near stalls when taking off from stop.
On July 20, 2024, I was stopping at a red light at a slow speed when the electronic parking brake engaged on its own. I couldn’t turn it off and the truck would not move forward when the light turned green. I had to turn the vehicle on and off several times to disengage the brake. We then turned off the brake assist off in the user settings/computer. This could have caused a rear end collision but thankfully the cars behind us were also traveling at a slow speed and saw we had our hazard lights on.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on three occasions; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V263000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
2022 Ram 3.5 V6 ETorque. While cruising at low speeds (Approx. under 30mph) and making a left-hand turn, my vehicle's engine shut off and the emergency brakes activated without warning. This happened on more than one occasion. This safety hazard could lead to serious bodily injury or death.
At low speed, engine stalled and along with strange braking issues occurred causing me to move off road to avoid traffic. Check engine light, and battery light illuminated. After multiple attempts engine restarted and I was able to drive vehicle normally. I didn't think much of it until same problem reoccurred with engine surging and braking. Similar to the transmission slipping and jolting when throttle applied.
Engine stalls randomly and the parking brake sets automatically slamming the truck to a sudden stop. So far I’ve had 4 separate incidents. Always when taking off after a stop at an intersection. Truck stalled just as I was entering an intersection each time. No dealer has confirmed this issue. No inspections have been done. No warning lights or messages appear. Incidents occurred over a 8 month period beginning 12/2023. Most recent, first week of 07/2024.
Connection under drivers seat was intermittently shorting on seat frame causing loss off BUS communication. This resulting in loss of power steering, power brakes, loss of speed and rpm indicators, erratic wiper blades, multiple warning lights on dash and radio while driving at 55mph as well at low speeds. The connector has been repaired by dealership.
1. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed/during acceleration at a stop sign, traffic signal, crossing, etc. 2. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed (under 35 mph) during acceleration and/or deceleration. 3. I've noticed over the last several incidents that upon initial startup the engine did not feel or sound normal to the point I have been able to anticipate a stall. Engine will not idle properly, rough/jerky takeoff, delayed response when accelerating. Stalling only occurs once per driving episode. It has not stalled a second time following the initial stall. It appears the issue resets the engine?, electronics?, computer board?. 4. Incidents are very stressful. The number of times the stalling incident has taken place is between 15-20 times. I purchased the vehicle new with 35 miles. As of 7/2/24 I have 39,400 miles. The issue began about a year ago with approximate mileage of 26,000
A recall was announced over a year ago on the high pressure fuel pump but the manufacturer is still stating they do not have parts to repair. I am fearful of something happening while driving.
Jun 13, 2024 2022 Rebel GT FIRST INCIDENT: while making a right hand turn from a stop light, the truck lost acceleration, rolled for a few feet and locked up into ebrake engagement and: >low voltage warning>red battery symbol>clicking lights>complete shut off!! Gave me the follwing messages in the display "key not in vehicle, place in park to start, low volatge." When i finally got it restarted it didnt give me full acceleration power. it limped down the road until i could safely pull off the road. Continued to show low voltage. I limped it home and conitued to have low volatge issues. i took it to the dealer next day and they was unable to recreate or resolve the issue. They reset the battery but It happened again... Well today while at 75MPH on the freeway, attempting to pass a semi my 2022 Rebel GT 24k miles lost acceleration and shut off, same as the times before. >low voltage warning>red battery symbol>clicking lights>complete shut off!! I was ready for the whole truck to lock up right there on the freeway becuase it usually engages the ebrake! After a few seconds it re started itself!! while at 75mph!!! then the transmission slips like its going to lock up-im assuming because of the e-brake engagement it usually does and the fact that i was going 75mph?!! It then engaged to "normal operation" with a 13.1 voltage, so I sped back up and I got my as* to the dealership that was fortunately only 2 miles down the road trying not to panic. My service lady came out and hooked it up for codes, what did she find?.... "nothing but B233C00 which is a random code" she said. Which means (as we all should be l familiar with by now) that they cannot do anything without data. I noticed that there has been an investigation opened and I wanted to add to the complaints
I have made a prior complaint about the same issue when I had the truck for only a day and 111 miles on it that the entire truck lost power as I was making a left hand turn. It has again happened that the entire truck lost power as I was driving. I now have 15,039 miles on it. I was driving stop and go leading up to a stop sign when the truck stalled and lost power and turned on the emergency brake. I was able to finally get it back running. It has been an issue for a while where you can almost feel like the truck is about to stall but it eventually kicks back in. This time however it did not.
Yesterday, 6/11/24, was the 4th time while driving the engine shut off while moving. Had to hit the brakes and coast to side of road. Had to put in park and start the engine. Dealer claims can’t repeat or find code. Same problem as many on the page. Also have the front camera/radar intermittently stop working and warns emergency braking and cruise control can’t be used. This is on the freeway!! 45 seconds later everything works again. Again no dealer help.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while in reverse, the display screen failed to display an image, but displayed a blue screen. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the camera wiring harness might need to be replaced. In addition, upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V437000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.
Due a faulty battery recharge module…My vehicle lost power steering without warning
When coming to a stop light, the vehicle stalled and shut off without warning. I had to shift to park, apply the brake and press the emergency brake button to get the vehicle to start. This has occurred twice since buying the vehicle in March 2024.
The seal around the back window is leaking. I have a 2022 Ram 1500 that was completed and picked up on 01/21/2022. Therefore, my vehicle was built in 2021. The issue is reoccurring and constantly leaks inside the cab of the truck when it rains. The truck smell musky and damp. The water leaks all the way under the seat and gets items wet in the under seat compartments.
On two separate occasions the engine shut off at low speeds and the emergency brake engaged. On both occasions there was no warning of any kind. The car restarted and ran fine until shortly after the first two instances a "low voltage" light illuminated prompting me to research and learn that the shut off problem is well known. I took it to the dealer who confirmed the issue and assured me it was fixed with a software update. Two weeks after the "repair" I was driving at highway speeds and the "low voltage" light illuminated and the car shut off and the emergency brake engaged. After I managed to get off the road it would not restart. It was towed to the dealership who kept it for 2 1/2 months. This time they replaced the MGU. I picked it up and less than a week later the "check engine" light illuminated. I returned it to the dealership who confirmed it's the same issue. To date the manufacturer is unwilling to acknowledge the problem or help. I was informed today that it was "fixed" (this time "battery pack") but I'm afraid to drive it after my life was placed in danger after two "fixes". It has been in their possession for over 3 months and it would be illogical to believe they understand the root cause and that the issue is truly fixed. I will not drive it until I'm assured it is safe as I don't want to put myself or other lives in danger. They appear to be guessing at the cause and at best replacing parts with the same flawed parts into the same flawed design and are unwilling to accept responsibility. This vehicle is dangerous.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 45-50 MPH, the tailgate unintendedly opened. While taking boards in a trailer, the tow gate opened and struck the trailer. The contact stated that the tailgate continued to open unexpectedly. While parked and placing groceries in the rear, the tailgate opened. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer for NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V904000 (Structure). The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated upon purchasing the vehicle brand new and attempting to use the key fob to operate the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond. The dealer replaced the antenna; however, the failure persisted. The dealer diagnosed that the RF hub was corroded due to water leaking through the third brake light. The dealer determined that the rear windshield, the third brake light, and the RF hub module needed to be replaced. The contact was charged a repair cost. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 5,050.
The power steering failed while I was in motion at approximately 55 mph and is not working since . I managed to stop before I went in the ditch, but did run over at culvert and run two tires. Zero warning.
Vehicle stalled after accelerating from a stop sign during slow speed driving in my neighborhood. Truck engaged auto parking brake in middle of intersection, "battery" light illuminated on dash, and Battery voltage suddenly read approx 11.5v. Had to restart in intersection and disengage parking brake to proceed. This occurred at 18002 miles on May 11. (photo attached) No previous warning lights or issues. Dealer was only a mile away so drove there without stopping while battery voltage continued to read 11.x volts. The dealership service dept was closed, so drove 2 miles home while battery warning continued. After stopping and re-starting truck in my driveway, voltage showed normal 13-14v and continued to run normally afterwards. Truck occasionally exhibits engine stumble especially when coasting to stop signs in my 15 mph neighborhood during first drive of the day. I have not experienced a complete stall since this one incident. Vehicle has not been back to the dealer since this occurred but is available on request. While unusual, I didn't have time to deal with the problem since the dealer was closed. I saw a notice of nhtsa investigation online which made me think to report this now, 2 months later.
I have had several occasions where I have been driving down the road and my engine has shut off. I took the truck to the dealership and they show error codes but can’t fix unless they can recreate the problem.
I was in the service lane waiting for an oil change for my 2022 RAM 1500. My car was in parking mode. A service tech plugged a "pod" or "OBD2" and asked me to drive the car with the pod plugged. As soon as I tried to pull out my lane the car acceleraterated even though I was not pressing on the gas pedal. I tried to hit the brake but car would not stop for few seconds until I hit the parked car in front of me.
When coming to a slow stop, the transmission has a clunky shift from 2nd to 1st gear.
When coming to a rolling stop, or a stop where the vehicle just briefly stops moving, the press on the accelerator, the vehicle hesitates for a moment, sometimes 1-2 seconds. This behavior is repeatable. In regular driving such as making a quick left turn after slowing to a near stop or a right turn immediately after coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, this behavior is dangerous as the driver expects and immediate response. Taken to dealer. Official write up claims they were unable to duplicate, however texts with the service advisor say they repeated this behavior with multiple trucks.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V263000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that a second notice would be mailed when the remedy part was available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The infotainment center will go blank and do a reset while driving, it does not store radio presets for long. Most concerning, I’ve been backing out of my garage when the garage lighting has been turned off and when the vehicles sensors detect a darker surrounding and adjust the dash and infotainment center light level, the infotainment center goes dark for a while and does it’s reset thing thus not having a backup camera until it has had time to reset.
