A red warning light appeared on my dash which says to” service airbags.” It has been on for a few months now. I’m really concerned now since I heard about airbags being recalled.
While cleaning and detailing the vehicle on 01/31/23, it was noticed that there is severe cracking in the plastic assembly that holds the seatbelt in place. A malfunction has not yet occurred, but this seems as if it could be a potential hazard once the plastic completely fails. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Seatbelt failures put the driver, front passenger and rear passengers, as well as other vehicles, at risk of injury or fatality in an accident. I have not contacted any dealers or independent service centers regarding this issue. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the potential failure. I am unsure of when the cracks first appeared, but have owned the vehicle since 2015.

THE TRUCK WAS RECALLED AND REPAIRED OR UP DATED AS PER RECALL NOTICES. THEN I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL. MY DEALER CHECKED THE SWITCH AND FUSE , THEY WHERE OK. THE TECH SAID THERE IS MAYBE SOMETHING BROKE IN THE CLOCK SPRING. I ONLY HAVE 29K ON THE TRUCK. I THINK THEY MAY HAVE BROKE SOMETHING IN ONE OF THE RECALL FIXES. THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME TROUBLE. I DON'T THINK THEY FIXING THE RECALLS PROPERLY. WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR THEIR GUESS WORK AND/OR SLOPPY WORK.
I WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION CAUSING $20,000 DOLLARS IN DAMAGE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO GO OFF. THE FRONT END WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED YET NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. I WAS TRAVELLING ABOUT 35 MPH AND HAD VERY LITTLE TIME TO BRAKE. I HIT THE OTHER VEHICLE BROADSIDE. I WAS ON A 4 LANE ROAD AND GOING STRAIGHT WHEN THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *DSY

THE VEHICLE HITCH ASSEMBLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY THERE WERE NO INJURIES, FIRE OR POLICE REPORT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE BALL ON THE HITCH ASSEMBLY WAS UNDERSIZED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MONTHS LATER, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT REACHED FOR THE GLOVE BOX, VEERED OFF THE ROAD, CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL, AND STOPPED IN A FIELD. THE CURTAIN AIR BAGS AND STEERING WHEEL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH FORCE AND A SUBSTANCE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT ARM, LEFT SHOULDER, LEFT SIDE OF THE FACE, AND BRUISES TO THE LEFT EYE. MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD RESPOND WITHIN 48 HOURS. WHEN THE CONTACT HAD NOT HEARD FROM THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY LATER SENT AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE.
