There are 4 owner-reported brakes complaints for the 2019 Ram ProMasterin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
Emergency brake internal failure caused brake rotors to seize. Rear wheels lock up causing inability to control vehicle. Vehicle only has 19,400 miles. Dealer will provide photos and parts. No warning lights or messages occurred before the failure. There are many reports on road trek owners forum and promaster ram owners forum of this same problem happening to these vehicles with low mileage. Not covered under warranty.
No incidents but dealers have been unable to fix the recall problem.
These brake pads have a stainless steel shim that is attached in such a way that the shim can slide off the back of the brake pad, and slides down and cuts against the brake rotor, effectively cutting the hub away from the rotor braking surface. Creating a very dangerous braking situation.
WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND PUT IT ON THE BRAKE THE CAR SLOWS DOWN BUT THEN STARTS TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. ON A CITY STREET AT A STOP SIGN/LIGHT. A LIGHT WILL BRIEFLY FLASH ON DASH THAT SAYS "HILL HOLDER - SEE SERVICE". I'VE TAKEN IT TO BE CHECKED. THEY DROVE IT AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY SO THAT DIAGNOSTIC IS NOT GOING TO TELL ANYTHING.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
