CAR READS SERVICE ECM, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, SERVICE TRACTION. THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN REPLACED, BUT THE PREVIOUS ISSUES OCCURRED. CAR SEEMS TO WANT TO STALL.UPON REDUCING SPEED TO SLOW DOWN. THEN WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE, I CANT ACCELERATE WHEN ENGINE IS STILL ON. CAR WILL IDLE UP AND DOWN AND REDUCE POWER. IF CAR IS IN PARK FOR A FEW MINUTES, ERROR MESSAGES STATED ABOVE WILL ALSO APPEAR. CAR REDUCED ENGINE POWER ON HIGHWAY WHILE AT 60MPH, HARD TO STEER. CAR WILL HESITATE WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE TURNS AT REDUCED SPEED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED THE STEERING CEASED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. AFTER WAITING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THE VEHICLE REGAINED POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. SMICKLAS CHEVROLET (8900 NORTHWEST EXPY, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73162, (405) 943-5721) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM I'M ASSUMING THE ORIGINAL OWNER I WAS INFORMED THERE WERE A FEW QUIRKS LIKE THE KEY WON'T COME OUT OF THE IGNITION SOMETIMES AND THE AIR CONDITIONER SOMETIMES WORKS RANDOMLY.. I INVESTIGATED THE QUIRKS AND HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK I'M NOT ALWAYS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY IT DIED SOMEBODY'S EVENTUALLY LUNGES FORWARD AS IF IT JUST WENT INTO GEAR AND THEN THE KEY IS RELEASED THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK AND I AM UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE AC IS DUE TO A MALFUNCTION OR IF IT'S DUE TO A ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE HOWEVER IT ALSO SEEMS TO WHEN IT GOES OUT THE FRONT DRIVERS HEADLIGHT STOPS WORKING I SEE THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR HOW DO I PUT THE VIN NUMBER IN IT STATES THAT THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
POWER STEERING GTOES OUT WITHOUT WARNING , CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS
SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING. ON NHTSA.GOV IT SAYS IT WAS RECALLED FOR THIS REASON, BUT WHEN I CALLED SATURN AND GAVE THEM MY VIN # THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT RECALLED.
POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE STEERING GETS STIFF WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS OK AGAIN. BUT NOW I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR.
THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS THE SPEED CONTROL WILL RELEASE AFTER BEING SET OR WON'T SET AT ALL, THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY, AND THE STEERING GOT JERKY WHILE TURNING CORNERS.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD "POWER STEERING/SERVICE ESC". POWER ASSIST STEERING STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHILE DRIVING, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES WITH NO POWER STEERING ASSIST. TURNED THE CAR OFF. RESTARTED THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 3.5 HOURS LATER - MESSAGE WAS NO LONGER ON THE DASHBOARD AND POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS FUNCTIONING. THIS SITUATION IS SIMILAR TO VARIOUS COMPLAINTS RECORDED ON "CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/SATURN/AURA/STEERIG/STEERING.SHTML".
MY POWER STEERING THEN WENT OUT AND THEY ARE NOT HONORING RECALL ON IT

ANTI THEFT LIGHT IS ON, DISABLING MY CAR. WHEN THE ANTI THEFT LIGHT COMES ON ALL OTHER DASH LIGHTS FLICKER AND MY NEEDLES GO UP AND DOWN. MY MESSAGE BOARD STATES ALL PWOER STEERING, SERVICE ESC, AND LOW TIRE AIR MESSAGES. I HAVE REPLACED MY INTERMEDIATE SHAFT, STEERING COLUMN, AND MY BCM & NOTHING IS WORKING. IVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE CHEV DEALERSHIP FOR ALL SERVICES AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO WORK ON IT ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE ISSUE. SINGLE MOM STUCK WITHOUT A CAR NOW, BC GM WILL NOT RECALL THIS CAR FOR THIS ISSUE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED AND WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MAINTENANCE MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED DAN HECHT CHEVROLET BUICK 2400 S BANKER ST, EFFINGHAM, IL 62401(866) 980-2619 HOWEVER, VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,300.
POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY GOES OUT. WORKS AFTER RESTARTING VEHICLE. HAD SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT ON DEC 27TH TO FIX POWER STEERING ISSUE. WAS UNDER RECALL ISSUED WARRANTY. MISSED APPOINTMENT AFTER TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. WAS DIAGNOSED BU MECHANIC WHO FIXED TRANSMISSION. TOOK IT TO GM DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSED IT WITH SAME PROBLEM. REFUSED TO HONOR WARRANTY BECAUSE IT EXPIRED ON THE 31ST. AND WAS DIAGNOSED A WEEK LATER. EVEN THOUGH HAD SAID ISSUE BEFORE IT EXPIRED AND CONFIRMATION EMAILS TO PROVE IT.
I HAD DRIVEN MY 2009 SATURN AURA IN THE MORNING WITH NO PROBLEM AND PARKED IT IN A PARKING LOT AT MY WORKPLACE. WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO GO HOME I STARTED MY CAR AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND I CHECKED THE STEERING AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THEN RESTARTED MY CAR. THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE HAD GONE AWAY AND THE POWER STEERING WORKED. I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD A TURNED MY CAR OFF TO DO AN ERRAND. WHEN I CAME BACK AND RESTARTED MY CAR THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME BACK AND I DIDN'T HAVE POWER STEERING AGAIN BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STIFF. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN AND RESTARTED IT A FEW MINUTES LATER. THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. I STARTED TO DRIVE HOME AND ABOUT 7 TO 10 MINUTES LATER THE POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK AGAIN SO I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I TURNED MY CAR OFF THE TURNED IT BACK ON A FEW MINUTES LATER. THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. I DROVE A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THEN THE POWER STEERING TURNED OFF AGAIN. SO I PULLED OVER AGAIN. THIS TIME WHEN I STARTED MY CAR THE POWER STEERING DIDN'T TURN ON AGAIN SO I DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME WITH NO POWER STEERING. I FOUND A RECALL NOTICE ON A WEBSITE. WHEN I CALLED GM AND SATURN ON THEIR TOLL FREE NUMBER THEY CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THAT WOULD BE BECAUSE THE SYMPTOMS OF THE RECALL ARE IDENTICAL TO MY CAR'S SYMPTOMS. THANK YOU.
POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING, ONLY WAY TO GET IT BACK IS TO RESTART THE CAR. HAPPENED 4 TIMES WITHIN 30 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY STAY ON. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES, THEY GO OFF FOR 5 SECONDS AND THEN COME BACK ON. THE ESC ALERT/TRACTION CONTROL ALERT ALWAYS TURNS ON. ACCELERATION AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES. RPMS SHOOT UP AND JERKS INTO NEXT GEAR. SOMETIMES THESE THINGS ARE LIKE THIS RIGHT FROM WHEN I TURN THE CAR ON, AND SOMETIMES THEY HAPPEN AFTER I'VE BEEN DRIVING A LITTLE WHILE. IT HAS DONE THIS BEFORE AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR FOR IT. I BROUGHT IT IN, AND WAS FIXED. ABOUT A YEAR LATER IT STARTED AGAIN BUT I WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T COVER IT TO BE FIXED AGAIN.
BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE CORRECTLY. THE LIGHTS MAY ILLUMINATE WHILE BRAKES ARE NOT PRESSED AND VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR BRAKES ARE PRESSED AND THE LIGHTS FAIL TO ILLUMINATE.
WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL REMAIN LIT UP EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES ARE NOT BEING ENGAGED. MY ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) LIGHT HAS BEEN POPPING UP ALOT LATELY, ALMOST EVERY TIME THE CAR IS BEING USED, IT HAS POPPED UP ON MY DASH WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AND WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR, AFTER JUST STARTING UP THE CAR, WHILE STILL BEING IN PARK THE ESC LIGHT WILL SHOW UP AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT THE CAR INTO GEAR, I HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE THE CAR AND RESTART IT.

AS SOON AS THE KEY IS INSERTED TO START THE VEHICLE THE READING SHOWS UP AS LONG AS THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS POSES A RISK BUT I AM CONCERN AS TOO IF THE AIR BAG MIGHT POP OUT WHILE DRIVING. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING. I AM TAKING THIS AS A WARNING THAT IT COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. ALSO WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR TANK HAS A BLOCKAGE. FLUID DOES NOT COME UP HIGH ENOUGH TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD. THIS MAY OR NOT BE UNDER A RECALL. CONCERN ABOUT DRIVING . DO NOT WANT THE AIR BAG TO POP OUT.

ADDITIONALLY, THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. FREEDOM CHEVROLET BUICK GMC BY ED MORSE (LOCATED AT 8008 MARVIN D LOVE FWY, DALLAS, TX 75237, (972) 330-4981) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,000.
THE STEERING HAS FAILED. A MECHANIC AS WELL AS RESEARCH ONE ONLINE, INDICATE THAT THE FACTORY DID RECALL THE CAR TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL STEERING PARTS. THIS ONE HAS NOT YET BEEN COMPLETED AND GM IS STATING THAT THE RECALL IS JOWNVOID BECAUSE OF THEY REQUIRED THE CAR TO BE BROUGHT IN FOR THE RECALL PRIOR TO 10 YEARS OR 150,000. IS IT AT ALL POSSIBLE THAT BECAUSE THIS IS A STEERING ISSUE WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY A SAFETY CONCERN, THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL VEHICLES STILL OPERATING AND ROADWORTHY?
ENGINE POWER REDUCED, TRACTION SERVICE ESC, AND ALSO THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON WHEN WITHOUT ME PRESSING THE BRAKES.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS OF MY SATURN AURA WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SELF-ACTIVATE EXACTLY 5 SECONDS AFTER THE DRIVER PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD STAY ACTIVE UNTIL THE DRIVER PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, AT WHICH TIME THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ACTUALLY DEACTIVATE. MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON I-94 AND WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY A SEMI TRUCK WHEN MY SON PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS DEACTIVATED (TURNED OFF). I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT GM AND HAD TO PAY A TOTAL OF $697.03 TO GET THE CAR FIXED EVEN AFTER I NOTIFIED THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THIS EXACT ELECTRICAL FAILURE WAS OUTLINED FOR THIS EXACT CAR IN GM RECALL #13036. THE RECALL REFERENCED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND BRAKE SENSOR, BOTH OF WHICH WERE REPLACED CAUSING ME TO PAY $697.03. THIS IS MY SECOND NOTIFICATION TO THE NHTSA, I REPORTED THIS ON JUNE 19, 2019 (NHTSA # 11221201) BUT I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. AS OF TODAY'S DATE (SEPTEMBER 3, 2019) GM HAS NOT REIMBURSED ME.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. *BF *JB
MAJOR TRANSMISSION REPAIR REQUIRED AT 79,000 MILES.35R 456 CLUTCH DAMAGED DUE TO BROKEN WAVE PLATE CAUSING NO REVERSE AND LIMITED OPERATION. THIS REPAIR $2338.29. FAILED DURING DRIVING ON HIGHWAY.
THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT AND SERVICE ESC LIGHT WILL COME ON. SOMETIMES THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SNATCH WHEN MAKING A TURN. THE TRACTION WILL DISABLE AND WONT ENABLE. WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. *TR*JB

I HAVE A 2009 SATURN AURA, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT RECALLED PREVIOUSLY FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE, BUT I FIND NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT ON MY CAR. IT IS ONLY 10 YEARS OLD AND WAS WONDERING IF SOMEHOW IT WAS MISSED OR SOMETHING. IT IS SLIPPING IN THE TRANSMISSION AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION. IT IS WORSE IN REVERSE. MY CAR IS NOW PARKED AS I DO NOT WANT TO GET OUT SOMEWHERE AND HAVE THE TRANSMISSION QUIT COMPLETELY. I HAVE NEVER HAD A TRANSMISSION GO OUT THIS QUICK IN A VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A WEIRD NOISE. THEN THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM CAME ON (SERVICE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION). START THE AND DRIVING DOWN THE STREET.

THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I HAD TO PULL OFF A CITY STREET AND TURN OFF MY CAR. I WAITED ABOUT 4-5 MINUTES AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. THIS IS NOW THE 3RD TIME FOR THIS EVENT! NOW IT'S MY PASSENGER REAR TIRE! THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON, DOES NOT READ PRESSURE, HAD IT CHECKED 2 X'S AND SERVICE CENTER SAYS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS!!! HELP HELP!!

MY PROBLEM STARTED WITH A LEFT TURN BLINKER, IT WOULDN'T TURN ON AND STAY FIXED. I HAVE TO HOLD IT DOWN. AND IF I WOULD TURN RIGHT IT WOULD STAY DOWN BUT WHEN TURN COMPLETED IT WONT GO BACK UP. THEN WHEN I START THE CAR I HEAR IT WORKING EXTRA HARD AND I HEAR ELECTRICAL SOUND IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN STATIONED ...SENSORS ON TIRE PRESSURE WAS CHANGED ON THE RIGHT...A YEAR AGO...BUT ALL TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS STILL DOESN'T SHOW PRESSURE CORRECTLY. WHEN BREAKING THE WHEEL SHAKING BADLY AFTER ALIGNMENT.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE WHEEL IS HARD TO TURN AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR A FEW TIMES THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE WHEEL IS BACK TO NORMAL. NOW WHEN DRIVING THE WHEEL SHAKES AND MAKES NOISE.
TAKATA RECALL ITS A BAD THING THAT THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRIC SO YOU CAN'T MONITOR IT YOURSELF AND WHEN IT'S MESS UP IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO I WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY SWITCHING LANES AND THE STEERING WHEEL GOT HARD TO TURN OUT OF NO WHERE SO I PULLED OVER AND MY POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS ON I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE POWER STEERING AND ELECTRICAL
AT TIMES THE POWER STEERING IS FINE; AND THEN FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH AND THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT OPERATE. THE ESC LIGHT COMES ON TOO AND OFF.
THE POWER STEERING IN THIS VEHICLE RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT WARNING MALFUNCTIONS. INITIALLY, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED VERY SPORADICALLY, AND ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED UP AND STILL IN PARK. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, AND THEN BACK ON REMEDIED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WILL NOW LOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. SO FAR, IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS, TYPICALLY WHEN I BEGIN DRIVING AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN, RED LIGHT ETC. WHEN IT OCCURS, IT TAKES EXTREME EFFORT TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER. IT'S AS IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED. ONCE PULLED OVER, RESTARTING THE VEHICLE RESOLVES THE ISSUE, ALTHOUGH SOMETIMES IT TAKES SEVERAL RESTARTS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NOW HAPPENS DAILY. I WAS TOLD THAT MY 2009 SATURN AURA WAS NOT A PART OF THE 2014 RECALLS THAT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. I DID NOT OWN THE VEHICLE IN 2014, SO I CANNOT VERIFY IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTIFICATIONS. BECAUSE THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT, I BELIEVE THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR ALL 2009 SATURN AURAS.
VEHICLE STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. AFTER PARKING AND RESTARTING AGAIN THE STEERING FUNCTIONED, CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS MODEL HAS AN ELECTRIC STEERING SYSTEM AND DOES NOT PERMIT STEERING FLUID TO BE ADDED.
LINKAGE BUSHING FAILED AND FELL APART ON WIPER TRANSMISSION CAUSING BOTH WIPERS TO BECOME INOPERATIVE.
WAS DRIVING DOWN TOLLWAY (I-294) IN ROSEMONT ILLINOIS AND STARTED TO EXIT AT BALMORAL WHEN I HAD A TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING. IT TOOK EXTREME EFFORT TO STEER CAR UP THE RAMP AT 30 MPH. IT FELT LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STUCK AND YOU COULD ONLY TURN IT ABOUT 45 DEGREES MAX IN EITHER DIRECTION. I MANAGED TO DRIVE IT HOME ON SIDE ROADS FOR SEVERAL MILES WHILE CONSTANTLY FIGHTING TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. IT SEEMED TO LOCK-UP EVERY TIME I TURNED A CORNER. WHEN TURNING LEFT, YOU WOULD WIND UP ON THE RIGHT LANE AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN. YOU COULD NOT MAKE A TIGHT TURN WITH THE VEHICLE! SEVERAL CARS HAD TO SWERVE AROUND ME AS I WAS TURNING! THE DASHBOARD INDICATED THE FOLLOWING "POWER STEERING/SERVICE ESC" WHEN I GOT IT IN THE GARAGE AT HOME, I SHUT ENGINE OFF AND THEN RESTARTED. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY. THIS IS A VERY SCARY SITUATION AND I HAVE READ THAT GM RECALLED CERTAIN 2009 SATURN AURAS FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHEN I CHECKED MY VIN, NO RECALLS WERE SEEN. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE TO OPERATE.
MY [XXX] DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER CAR AND THE STEERING WENT OUT. HER CAR HAS HAD THE ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL TURN ON AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. THIS CAR IS A HUGE HAZARD. I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE RECALLS ISSUED BACK IN 2012 AND 2014 REGARDING THESE ISSUES AND NOW NO ONE WILL ADDRESS THEM OR FIX THEM AS THEY ARE EXPIRED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 11/12/2019 AT 6PM EST, ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THEN BECAME STIFF AND HARD TO STEER. THE DASHBOARD STARTED DINGING AND THE SERVICE ESC CAME ACROSS. I CAME UP TO THE NEAREST EXIST AND HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO PULL UP INTO A PARKING AREA TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF WAITED A FEW MINUTES THEN PROCEEDED TO RESTART MY CAR TO SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NO LONGER STIFF SO I PROCEEDED TO GET BACK ON THE FREEWAY TO HEAD TO WORK AGAIN. AFTER NO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING MY CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING OVER AGAIN. SO, I PULLED UP OFF OF THE FREEWAY TO TRY AND SEE IF I SHUT IT OFF WILL IT WORK AGAIN. THIS TIME IT DID NOT RESET ITSELF, SO I DECIDED TO DRIVE BACK HOME WITH THE STEERING OUT AND BEING HARD TO DRIVE CAUSE IT WAS DARK AND LATE OUT AND I DID NOT WANT TO CHANCE BEING ON THE ROAD SOMEWHERE BY MYSELF. SEPTEMBER 2017 WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR UNTIL THAT DAY ON NOVEMBER 12, 2018, MY CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING GREAT AND HAD NO STEERING ISSUES OR CONCERNS. WHEN I SPOKE WITH A GMC DEALER I WAS MADE AWARE THAT THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAS MANY RECALLS INCLUDING A RECALL WITH THE SAME ISSUES MY CAR WAS HAVING BUT THAT WHEN LOOKING UP MY VIN # IT DOES NOT SHOW THAT MY CAR WAS PART OF THE RECALL TO BE FIXED. MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES AS THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF MY CAR AND I NEED SOME ASSISTANCE. I HAVE GOTTEN PARTS FIXED ON MY CAR TO SEE IF IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE BUT NOTHING HAS WORKED AND IT IS NOW JANUARY 9, 2019 AND I STILL HAVE NO POWER STEERING AND I HAVE TO WORK AS WELL AS PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR MY FOUR CHILDREN.

THE CONTACT TURNED INTO A VACANT PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL AND "SERVICE ESC" APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GEORGE WHITE CHEVROLET (1719 S HIGH AVE, AMES, IA 50010, (515) 233-2211), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 192,000.
TAKA RECALL THE HEAD LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT KEEP HAVING TO REPLACE THEM NOTHING WILL BE WRONG WITH THE BULBS BUT IT CONSTANTLY KEEPS GOING OUT
WHILE DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL, I MADE A LEFT TURN INTO THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND STEERING WENT OUT. POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND DASH READS SERVICE ESC. VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. TURNED CAR OFF AND WENT TO CRANK AGAIN...STEERING RESTORED, INDICATOR WENT OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 SATURN AURA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE CONTACT CALLED GREINER BUICK GMC (14555 CIVIC DR, VICTORVILLE, CA 92394) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD NOT BE SERVICED BECAUSE OF THE HIGH MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT DUE TO THE HIGH MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE, THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD NOT BE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.*DT
POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING ON VARIOUS ROADWAYS MAKING STEERING ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. HAVE FOUND THAT SHUTTING IT OFF AND RESTARTING RESETS IT, BUT THIS IS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE IN MANY SITUATIONS. THE LIMITED FREQUENCY OF IT MAKES IT TOUGH TO DUPLICATE FOR DEALERSHIP AND WHILE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND RECALL FOR OTHER GM VEHICLES, WE WERE TOLD OUR CAR IS NOT ON THE LIST. HAS HAPPENED FOR PAST TWO YEARS. DATE AND INFORMATION BELOW WAS THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT.
