I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DETERMINED THAT IT REQUIRES THE PART, BUT THEY CAN'T GET THE PART SO MY CAR IS SITTING WITH EXPIRED INSPECTION NOW AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT. I THINK GM IS NOT INTENDING TO MAKE THIS PART AVAILABLE BUT HTEY DON'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW THAT.
MY 2007 SATURN SKY WITH 81,000 MILES ON IT DISPLAYED "SERVICE AIR BAG", TOOK IT TO GM DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS A PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM (PPS) FAULT AND SAID THE COST FOR REPAIR WOULD BE $1000+. I PAID THEM THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TIME ($105) AND ELECTED TO REPAIR MYSELF. REMOVAL OF PASSENGER SEAT BOTTOM COVER INDICATED A BREAK IN THE FLEXIBLE CIRCUIT PAD WHICH DETECTS PASSENGER PRESENCE. COST FOR REPLACEMENT SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (INCLUDES PPS) FROM GM IS OVER $400 BUT STILL CHEAPER THAN PAYING DEALER FOR THIS WORK. THIS IS DISCUSSED ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SKY & SOLSTICE AND GM RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE ON OTHER VEHICLES HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES (IE: CADILLAC CTS) BUT GM REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE SKY OR SOLSTICE. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT SAFETY DEVICE WITH KNOWN FLAWS IN IT (PLASTIC RIBBON CABLES CANNOT WITHSTAND REPEATED FORCE APPLICATIONS FOREVER). I UNDERSTAND MOST PEOPLE ELECT TO JUST CONTINUE DRIVING WITH THIS ISSUE, DUE TO THE EXTREMELY HIGH COST OF REPAIRS, WHICH LEAVES AN ADULT PASSENGER UNPROTECTED DURING A CRASH WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT (PPS DEACTIVATES PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IF CHILD IS PRESENT. GM SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS OR PROVIDE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS SAFETY CRITICAL ITEM. *TR

PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE WENT BAD. TRIPS THE AIR BAG SENSOR TO GO OFF AND CAN ONLY BE RESET BY DEALER. AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT IN AN EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE FOR YEARS.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
VEHICLE HAS STANDARD TRANSMISSION. SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING CAME ON DURING TRIP WITH PASSENGER IN PASSENGER SEAT. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000 MILES. ABLE TO EXTINGUISH WARNING LIGHT BUT RETURNS EVERY TIME IGNITION TURNED ON. PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR WILL NOT ENGAGE.
PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM FOR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS SHOWS PASGR PRESENCE MODULE INVALID DATA, GM DEALER SAYS THEY WILL REPLACE ONLY IF I PAY ABOUT $900. I INVESTIGATED AND FOUND NHTSA ACTION NUMBER DP16001 MAY 16 2016. I WANT TO ADD MY VEHICLE INTO THIS CLAIM. THIS IS A SEVERE ISSUE JUST BECAUSE NO ONE HAS BEEN INJURED DOESN'T LESSEN THE IMPORTANCE THIS COULD BE HANDLED BY GM BY VOLUNTEERING TO REPLACE AND REPAIR WHEN A VEHICLE COMES TO THEIR SERVICE CENTER FOR THE DEFECT
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT FOR THE LAST YEAR AND ON A RECENT TRIP FAILED TO FUNCTION DURING ACTUAL DRIVING, DISABLING THE AIR BAG, TURNED ON THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" DISPLAY AND LIGHT AND WOULD NOT CLEAR. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN BECAME PERMANENT. THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED AND IT WAS A INTERMITTENT FAILURE THAT BECAME PERMANENT. SINCE THE FAIRLURE OCCURRED WHILE AWAY FROM HOME AND ON THE WEEKEND, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP WHO READ THE CODE (B0081) TRIED TO FURTHER DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND THEN INDICATED THE MOST PROBABLE CAUSE WAS THE PPU UNIT (WHATEVER THAT IS) THERE WERE NONE AVAILABLE LOCALLY SO DROVE THE CAR HOME (COLUMBUS OH TO DALLAS, TX) AND PARKED IT BEING CAREFUL WITH MY DRIVING AS MY WIFE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. DOING INTERNET SEARCHES INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND GM HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT BECAUSE THE CAR IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM EXISTED DURING THE ACTUAL PRODUCTION CYCLE. WHY DOES G?M NOT RECALL THE CAR WITH AN OBVIOUS SAFETY DEFECT THAT CAN AFFECT LIVES??
I BOUGHT A SATURN SKY REDLINE LAST YEAR WITH 31000 MILES. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING IT THE "SERVICE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON. I AM NOW FINDING OUT THAT THIS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PONTIAC SOLSTICE AND SATURN SKY MODELS WITH LOW MILEAGE. IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND HAS NO RECALLS ISSUED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IN THE CAR IS RENDERED USELESS. GM WANTS AROUND $700 FOR LABOR AND $300 FOR PARTS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAPPENS ON ALMOST ALL OF THESE CARS WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE. GM HAS ISSUED RECALLS FOR CADILLAC, BUICK AND OTHER MODELS OF THEIR CARS BUT NOT THE KAPPA VEHICLES. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THESE VECHICLES HAVE NO WORKING AIRBAGS! THE CONSUMER IS EXPECTED TO PAY UPWARDS OF $1000 TO GET IT FIXED WITH PARTS THAT ARE GOING TO FAIL AGAIN? I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER GM VEHICLE AGAIN UNLESS THEY DO THE RIGHT THING. I DON'T HAVE A WORKING DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER AND HAVE NO ODOMETER THANKS TO THIS PROBLEM.

I PURCHASED A USED SATURN SKY 2007 VEHICLE. JULY 26TH 2016. I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY THE SAME DAY AS A MATTER OF FACT A NOISE FROM THE BACK END. I TOOK CARE BACK A AND THEY PUT GREASE IN DIFERENTIAL.. BUT AFTER A FEW DAYS IT WAS WORSE THAN EVER. I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN. AFTER THEY TRIED LOOKING AT MY CAR. I CALLED MY WARRANTY COMPANY AND ASK IF THEY COULD RECOMMEND A SERVICE CENTER TO TAKE MY CAR TO HAVE IT SERVICED. WHICH I THEN PROCEEDED TO DO. AND MY VEHICLE IS STILL THERE. THEY SENT A USED DIFERENTIAL THAT WAS BAD. I ASKED THE WARRANTY REPRESENTATIVE AT THAT TIME TO SEND ME A NEW ONE WHICH MY CONTRACT STATES CLEARLY I CAN HAVE. BUT ONCE AGAIN THEY SENT ANOTHER BAD USED ONE. AND THEN ANOTHER. ALONG WITH TWO OTHERS THAT WERE NEVER DELIVERED. AND I'VE BEEN OFFERED A RENTAL FOR 8 DAYS TOTAL. AND IT IS NOW OCT 18TH.2016. I HAVE NO CAR. GM HAS THIS PART NOW ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. AND DOES NOT KNOW WHEN A PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT DIFFERENT MACHINE SHOPS TO SEE IF IT CAN BE REBUILT THEY HAVE TRIED TO FIND PARTS TO REBUILD IT THERE ARE NONE. I FEEL I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO FIX THIS VEHICLE. AND IT'S A LEMON.
AT ABOUT 31,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH A PASSENGER THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES FINALLY ENDING UP OFF WITH A SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE.WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR ON FREEWAY.

MY VEHILCE HAS 39,00 MILES ON IT. THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME AND TO CHECK BACK PERIODICALLY. THEREFORE IF WE ALL HAVE THIS PROBLEM THEN DEFINITELY THERE IS A NEED FOR GM TO CHECK ALL OF THIS OUT. AND MOST OF THESE VEHICLES HAS VERY LOW MILES ON THEM.
AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR STAYS LIT. ON THE DIC AND CLUSTER. NOTICED THIS ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. ASSUMING NO ONE HAS YET. AIRBAGS WILL NOT OPERATE WHEN WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON.
2007 SATURN SKY REDLINE AT ABOUT 20000 MILES SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ABOUT 50MPH. LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHETHER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED OR NOT. NOW SEEMS TO STAY ON CONTINUALLY.

THE CONTACT REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE BOTTOM CUSHION PER THE DEALER'S RECOMMENDATION, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
THE ISSUE IS THE AIRBAG CONTROL SYSTEM. THE SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT IS FAULTY AND WILL PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM BEING DEPLOYED. GM ACKNOWLEDGES THIS PROBLEM, BUT SAYS PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. HOWEVER THEY ARE READILY AVAILABLE FROM MANY SOURCES INCLUDING EBAY SO THEIR CLAIM IS WITHOUT MERIT! I CAN NOT SAFELY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE KNOWING MY PASSENGER'S SAFETY IS COMPROMISED. PLEASE COMPEL GM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW. PARTS ARE AVAILABLE!!!!
