TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN MY 2003 SATURN VUE, MILEAGE IS UNDER 100,000 MILES. *TR
LEAK IN 2003 SATURN VUE GAS TANK. I OWN A 2003 SATURN VUE WHICH HAS BEEN DRIVEN ONLY ABOUT 52,000 EASY HIGHWAY MILES. IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH, NEVER ABUSED OR OFF-ROADED, IT HAS NEVER BEEN TOWED AND HAS HAD ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO, THERE WAS A SMELL OF GAS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG, AND TO FILL IT UP AND SEE WHAT HAPPENED. WE DID THIS, AND THERE WAS A STRONG GAS SMELL IN AND OUT OF THE CAR WITH A SMALL GAS PUDDLE UNDER THE CAR. WE TOOK THIS BACK TO THE MECHANIC, AND THEY FOUND A CRACK IN THE TANK/FILLER NECK. I AM ATTEMPTING TO GET THIS FIXED. I CALLED GM, BUT THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF HELPING WITH THIS PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT SEEM INTERESTED IN THE FACT THAT THIS IS A LIGHTLY USED VEHICLE, AND THAT A PART FAILED. AS THIS IS NOT A PART THAT BEARS ANY WEIGHT, DOES NOT WEAR OR SEE ANY STRESS OTHER THAN THE GAS, THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON FOR A PLASTIC TANK TO FAIL, UNLESS IT WERE MADE OR DESIGNED POORLY. I WOULD LIKE EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS. IT IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. IT COULD EASILY LEAD TO A FIRE OR EXPLOSION. GAS TANKS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC SHOULD NOT FAIL WITHOUT CAUSE UNLESS POORLY DESIGNED OR MANUFACTURED. *TR
A FEW YEARS AGO I PURCHASED A USED 2003 VUE. CURRENTLY THERE IS APPROXIMATELY 120,000 MILES ON IT. ON 10/31/09 I DROVE MY 40 MILES TO WORK AND ALL WAS FINE. AT LUNCH BREAK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I PUT THE GAS ON THE VEHICLE WOULD HARDLY MOVE. AFTER DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM WITH MY HUSBAND, WE DECIDED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION PLACE, NOT A SATURN DEALER, BECAUSE OF COST. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY RUNNING IN 3RD GEAR, ALL OTHER GEARS WERE NOT WORKING. WHEN THAT PROBLEM WAS FIXED, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE COMPUTER WAS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION PLACE HAS BEEN VERY NICE AND EVEN PAID FOR A RENTAL CAR FOR ME, BUT WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, I WILL OWE THEM ABOUT $3000. WHY AM I READING ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AND NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN DONE? *TR
VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE OCTOBER OF 2009 DUE TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. SATURN KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT BECAUSE OF MILEAGE ARE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST ME IN REPAIRS. I DID NOT GET NOTIFICATION OF THIS PROBLEM UNTIL AFTER I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS I CANNOT FIND A TRANSMISSION TO REPLACE IT WITH! I AM MAKING PAYMENTS ON SOMETHING JUST SITTING AT THE GARAGE AND FEEL HELPLESS AT TO WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT! IT HAS BEEN VERY FRUSTRATING AND AGITATING. I AM NOT IN A POSITION WHERE I HAVE 2 OR 3 VEHICLES JUST SITTING AROUND WAITING FOR ME TO DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY SISTERS TRUCK FOR 4 MONTHS . THANK GOD FOR HER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE LOCKS AND LATCHES ON THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, AND HE REALIGNED THE DOORS' TRACK. HOWEVER WHEN IT RAINS THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. UPON CONTACTING THE DEALER, A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $80.00 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
2003 SATURN VUE - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. WAS TOLD BY SATURN DEALERSHIP THAT THESE WERE RECALLED AND WILL ONLY REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IF FIRST OWNER. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP IN 2005 WITH 30,000 MILES AND WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE RECALL. NOW THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY $5,350 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. WHAT IS MY RECOURSE? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. SHE NOTICED THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. A TECHNICIAN RESET THE ERROR CODE. WEEKS LATER WHILE ENTERING A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT AN EXPENSE OF $5300.00. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THERE WAS VOLUNTARY CAMPAIGN ON THE TI1 TRANSMISSION FOR "ORIGINAL: OWNERS. SINCE SHE WAS THE SECOND OWNER SHE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR A FREE REMEDY. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 70,000. UPDATED 12/10/09. *LJ UPDATED 12/10/09.*JB
I HAVE A 2003 SATURN VUE WITH A VTI TRANSMISSION. IT IS STARTING TO REV HIGH RPM WHEN IT SHOULDN'T BE. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT IN FOR 3 TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGES AND SEVERAL COMPUTER UPGRADES. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 122000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. DID SATURN EVER RECALL THIS AFTER YOUR INVESTIGATION OF THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION? I HAVE RECEIVED NO LETTER ON THIS FROM SATURN FOR A RECALL. HOW CAN THEY NOT BACK UP THEIR CRAPPY PRODUCT AND NOT MAKE IT RIGHT? PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
I HAVE AN 03 SATURN VUE WITH MULTIPLE ISSUES. I SHOULD HAVE COMPLAINED YEARS AGO BUT I AM ONLY NOW SEEING THE BLOGS REGARDING THIS DANGEROUS HIDEOUS VEHICLE. THE BACK WINDOW WIPER BLADES WORK WHENEVER, SPORADICALLY; THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS ARE INOPERABLE MOST OF THE TIME, THE BUTTON THAT TURNS THEM ON IS DEFECTIVE,;THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM- CAUTION LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF;REDUCED POWER LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD SOME CLOSE CALLS IN THIS VEHICLE AND I REALIZED IT SHOULD OF NOT BEEN ALLOWED TO BE ON THE ROAD. IT IS A DISASTER. ON 9/7/09, I WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT IN A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER'S SIDE, CAUSING MY FACE TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. I BLACKED OUT BEHIND THE WHEEL AND THE CAR FLIPPED AND THEN WRAPPED AROUND A TREE. *TR

AS A CONSEQUENCE, IN A SITUATION THAT WARRANTS, THE AIR BAGS MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT IS AWARE THAT A SERIOUS INJURY COULD OCCUR IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, SINCE THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,632.
I PURCHASED MY 2003 SATURN VUE IN AUG OF 2006, IT HAD HIGHMILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT STARTED MAKING NOISES AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE IN 2008 I HAD IT TOWED TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP THEY TOLD ME IT HAD A VTI TRANS AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE TRANS ONLY LAST FOR 2YRS. WELL NOW MY TRANS WAS REPLACE THE CAR MADE THE SAME SOUND THIS MONTH AND NEEDS ANOTHER TRANSMISSION I CANT AFFORD TO KEEP PAYING FOR SATURNS MISTAKE IF YOU COULD PLEASE DO A RECALL OR TO HELP WITH THIS FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 SATURN VUE, MY CAR HAS BEEN MAKING STRANGE NOISES, LIKE MY BRAKES WERE GOING, MAKING A SCRAPING NOISE. I WAS PLANNING TO TAKE MY CAR TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT TOMORROW, HAVE THE BRAKES LOOKED OVER. TONIGHT I WAS VISITING MY DAUGHTER AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE, IT WOULD NOT MOVE. SO I TRIED TO PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT MOVED A LITTLE AND STOPPED. NOW I CANNOT GET THE CAR TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HAD RECEIVED A LETTER CONCERNING A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT AND I WAS READING ONE OF THE COMPLAINTS BY ANOTHER PERSON WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND THROUGH THE INFO PROVIDED BY THIS INDIVIDUAL TO CONTACT THIS SITE. I BOUGHT MY CAR USED IN 2007. IS THERE ANY RECALL??? I KNOW THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT BY GOING TO SATURNVTI.CLASSACTION@LAKINLAW.COM BUT HAS THERE BEEN ANY RECALLS REGARDING THIS LAWSUIT. IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO SINCE THIS WAS SATURN'S MISTAKE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WAY THEY ARE HANDLING THIS. I REALLY DO LIKE MY SATURN VUE & YOU WOULD THINK SATURN WOULD DO RIGHT FOR THE CONSUMER OF THEIR DAMAGED VEHICLES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, HE CONCLUDED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT CENTER BEARING FAILED. HE NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED BY A TECHNICIAN THAT THE COMPONENT WAS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. THE PARTS ARE STILL UNAVAILABLE; THEREFORE, NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 44,000.
I HAVE A SATURN VUE 2003, THAT SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH. I BELIEVE IT IS A VTI TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I FEAR THE WORSE WHEN DRIVING WITH MY KIDS, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS WILLING TO ASSIST 30% TOWARDS THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST OF $5,000. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 110,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. BL
2003 SATURN VUE (2.2L) FUEL LINE FAILURE DRIVEN IN NW INDIANA - CORROSION OF LINE UNDER THE PLASTIC SHEATH.THAT ENDED IN PERFORATION AND STEADY DRIP OF FUEL. THIS FUEL LINE CONNECTS THE DOWNSTREAM SIDE OF THE FUEL FILTER TO THE ENGINE FUEL INJECTION RAIL. CORROSION OCCURRED WITHIN 2 FEET OF THE FILTER. 1. GASOLINE ODOR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN PARKED IN ONE PLACE FOR AWHILE UP TO 30 DAYS PRIOR TO DISCOVERY. 2. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE A FEW MILES AND PARKING IT, UPON RETURNING TO IT DAMPNESS AND A STEADY DRIP OF GASOLINE WAS SEEN DRIPPING STEADILY. 3. ALL NEW REPLACEMENT LINE WAS ORDERED AND REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS APPROX 30K MILES AND, CURIOUSLY, SHOWS A FAIR AMOUNT OF UNDERCARRIAGE RUST FOR ITS AGE AND MILEAGE. BRAKE LINES ALSO SHOW SOME EXTERNAL RUST. OLD PERFORATED FUEL LINE STILL AVAILABLE. *TR
MY MANE IS NAKISHA PAUL AND I OWN A 2003 SATURN VUE.06/22/2007 MY TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED AT 91206 MILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACED 6/29/2007TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED @ A COST OF $4159 7/29/2009THE NEW TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED @137,000 IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC W/O WARNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WOULD START TO JERK WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT HE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED ON THREE OCCASIONS WITHIN 1.5 YEARS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE, SHE COULD HEAR A LOUD WINDING NOISE; SHE ALSO NOTICED THAT IT SHIFTED VERY HARD IN SECOND GEAR, AS IF A "HORSE WERE KICKING THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE". SHE NOTICED THE ISSUE EVERY TIME SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO SLIPPED IN GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED IT OFF. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE AND A YEAR FROM NOW, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BECOME A PROBLEM. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT IF IT WAS A VTI FAILURE AND UNDER 5 YEARS, THEY WOULD PAY 100% OF THE REPAIR COSTS AND IF OVER 5 YEARS, THEY WOULD PAY 50% OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,662. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
I BOUGHT A USED 2003 SATURN VUE TWO MONTHS AGO, AND SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. THE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH IT KNOW IS THE TRANSMISSION (AUTOMATIC VTI). WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TWO DAYS AGO, THE CAR WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 65 MPH, WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN, THE RPMS RED LINED AT 7000. AFTER THAT I DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE CAR ONTO THE SHOULDER, BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. ALSO WHEN STOPPING THE CAR, THE ENGINE STARTS TO RUMBLE AND SHAKE, THEN WHEN ACCELERATING AGAIN THE ENGINE REVS UP BUT NO MOVEMENT. AFTER ABOUT FIVE TO TEN SECONDS THE CAR CATCHES GEAR AND IT FEELS LIKE I'VE BEEN IN A REAR END COLLISION WHEN IT DOES. THREE DAYS AGO THE CAR DID THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN (IT STOPPED AND JUST REVVED THE ENGINE), I WAS ALMOST HIT BY AN ONCOMING CAR BUT THEY MANAGED TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE VUE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND I AM UNABLE TO AFFORD A NEW TRANSMISSION SO I AM STUCK WITH A DEAD VEHICLE WHICH I JUST PURCHASED TWO MONTHS AGO. *TR
MY 2003 SATURN VUE HAD THE TRANSMISSION DIE COMPLETELY AT 62,000 MILES AND 6 YEARS OLD. WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A VACATION AND IT DIES 2 MINUTES BEFORE WE ENTERED THE INTERSTATE IN SEATTLE, WA. THERE WAS NO WARNING, OTHER THAN SATURN TELLING US 5 YEARS AGO THAT THE TRANSMISSION MAY LOSE POWER ON OCCASION BUT IT IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH. ADDITIONALLY, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS WERE UNABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED REPLACING AS WELL AS THE DOOR HINGES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BUT THE DOORS WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

OWNER BROUGHT VEHICLE TO SATURN CAR DEALER......MECHANICS AT DEALERSHIP FOUND GASOLINE TANK LEAKING AT FILLER NECK STUB AND AT SEAM.....SATURN DEALERSHIP REMOVED AND REPLACED GAS TANK, ETC....OWNER ASKED FOR DEFECTIVE GAS TANK BUT DEALERSHIP KEPT IT. *TR
I PURCHASED A SATURN VUE IN 2003 WITH 7 MILES ON IT. 2 YEARS LATER AS I WAS DRIVING IT ON THE HIGHWAY, MY RPM'S GAVE WAY. CAUSE: TRANSMISSION... WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED BY SATURN, THANKFULLY WAS UNDER WARRANTY. NOW 3 YEARS LATER, I AM HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AGAIN. I CONTACTED SATURN AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR 25% OF THE COST. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THEY SOLD A CAR WITH DEFECTIVE PARTS. AS I HAVE RESEARCHED I HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY CONSUMERS ARE BEING HIT WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. GM/SATURN SHOULD REPLACE ALL TRANSMISSION AT NO COST, BEING THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO MAKE A TRANSMISSION THAT WOULD LAST. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THERE WERE NO AUTHORIZED DEALERS IN THE AREA FOR A SECOND OPINION. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 82,067.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES AND DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS FAIL; HOWEVER, THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO OPERATE. I HAD DRIVEN MY 2003 SATURN VUE TO WORK THE PREVIOUS NIGHT WITH NO PROBLEMS. UPON DRIVING IT THE NEXT MORNING, IN BUSY TRAFFIC, IT WOULD NOT TRANSFER OUT OF FIRST GEAR EASILY. I PRACTICALLY HAD TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO EVEN GET IT UP TO 30 MPH. I HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED BUT HAVE HAD QUOTES IF IT IS THE TRANSMISSION AND IT IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS THAT WE AS CONSUMERS HAVE TO PAY MORE FOR SOMEONE'S BAD JUDGMENT ON TRANSMISSIONS. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS WHERE THE COMPLAINTS ARE NUMEROUS ON THE SATURN TRANSMISSIONS AND NOW AS CONSUMERS WE ARE UP THE CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE NOW THAT GM HAS FILED BANKRUPTCY. AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PICKED IT UP ON MAY 27 GOT ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY FROM SATURN TRIED TO CROSS A 4 LANE INTERSECTION AND VEHICLE WOULD BARELY MOVE DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AGAIN IT IS A GOOD THING THERE WAS VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC. *TR
TRAVELING SOUTH BOUND AT APROX. 30-35 MPH ENTER BUSY URBAN INTERSECTION WHEN A CAR TRAVELING WEST BOUND RAN A RED LIGHT. I COLLIDED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HIS VEHICLE STRAIGHT ON (T-BONED). CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE COMPLETE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I SUFFERED BRUISING AND SORENESS FROM THE IMPACT. MY VEHICLE THE SATURN VUE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR
I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF A 2003 SATURN VUE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN JUNE OF 2008 BECAUSE I KNEW SATURN HAD A GOOD REPUTATION AND MADE VERY RELIABLE AND SAFE CARS. ON MAY 10, 2009 MY HUSBAND, MYSELF, AND OUR 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WERE LEAVING A GAS STATION PARKING LOT. MY HUSBAND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND PULLED OUT INTO THE ROAD TO BEGIN OUR TRIP HOME. AS HE PULLED OUT INTO THE ROAD AND PRESSED THE GAS THE CAR'S RPMS REVVED UP BUT THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. WE CHECKED TO SEE IF ONE OF US HAD ACCIDENTALLY HIT IT INTO NEUTRAL, BUT IT WAS IN FACT IN DRIVE. WE HAD ENOUGH FORCE TO COAST BACK INTO ANOTHER ENTRANCE OF THE GAS STATION PARKING LOT AND GET OUT OF THE ROAD BEFORE BEING HIT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL (NOT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE). WE HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. THEY SENT IT TO A LOCAL SATURN DEALER. THE SATURN DEALER CONTACTED US AND SAID INDEED THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. SATURN GAVE US A QUOTE FOR REPAIRS WHICH WE CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD ALSO GET A DISCOUNT AS THIS VTI TRANSMISSION WAS NOW THE CAUSE OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. EVEN IF WE COULD AFFORD IT, THE FAULTY VTI TRANSMISSION CAN ONLY BE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER FAULTY VTI TRANSMISSION WHICH COULD GO OUT AT ANY TIME WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. FORTUNATELY WHEN OUR TRANSMISSION DID GO OUT WE WERE SAFE. HOWEVER WE HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND ARE EXPECTING OUR SECOND CHILD IN A FEW WEEKS AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE FOR US TO PUT OURSELVES, AND ESPECIALLY NOT OUR CHILDREN, IN SUCH A SITUATION. IT IS A TRAGEDY WAITING TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE CONTACTED LOCAL SATURN REPS, DISTRICT REPS, AND SATURN ASSISTANCE. ALL ARE UNWILLING TO HELP IN ANY WAY. THE LOCAL SATURN REPRESENTATIVE TOLD US HE WOULD NOT BUY THE CAR HIMSELF AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT EVEN WANT TO PURCHASE IT FROM US IF WE FIXED IT. FIRST I HAD TO REPLACE THREE OF FOUR WHEEL BEARINGS ON THE VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 2006 FOUR MONTHS AFTER I GOT THE VEHICLE. THEN JUST TWO MONTHS AGO A SWAY BAR LINK BROKE AND BROKE A STRUT SO I HAD TO REPLACE THEM. NOW I AM STUCK WITH A 2003 SATURN VUE IN MY DRIVEWAY STILL PAYING FOR IT WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION. 2003 SATURN VUE W/ VTI PURCHASED JULY 30, 2003. REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION TO DEALER ON 12/14/05. DEALER REPLACED ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION AT THAT TIME. MILEAGE WAS 59,721 AT TIME TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. ON 5/1/09 WHEN EXITING THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE STARTED TO SHUDDER AND JERK AS IF NOT GETTING POWER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR BACK INTO GEAR, IT WOULD NO LONGER ENGAGE THE DRIVE OR REAR GEARS. AFTER HAVING THE CAR TOWED AND CHECKED OUT, I HAVE BEEN ADVISED MUST GET A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS CURRENT TRANSMISSION ONLY HAS 78,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

CONSUMER STATES DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. *TGW AFTER THREE MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE FROM A PRIVATE SELLER, THE CONSUMER NOTICE THE VEHICLE WOULD SLIP INTO A WEIRD GEAR AND THE ENGINE WOULD SOUND AS IF IT WERE RUNNING HARDER. THE ISSUE OCCURRED AT RANDOM INTERVALS WITH NO NOTICEABLE PATTERN. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED THAT WAS THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO SOUND, BUT THEY WOULD INSPECTED IT. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THE MILEAGE WAS VIRTUALLY THE SAME AND WONDERED IF THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE. 4-5 WEEKS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THE VEHICLE HAD A POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE VTI TRANSMISSION INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED NOTHING COULD BE DONE FOR HIM BASED ON THE MILEAGE. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM BEFORE THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE EXCLUDED HIM. ALSO, THE COOLANT LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER FOUND THE WATER PUMP LEAKING. *JB

THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF THE COMPLAINT THAT I FILED YESTERDAY (# 10265132). I AM THE GUY WHO LIVES IN LAS VEGAS. I GOT MY CAR BACK FROM SATURN LAST THURSDAY WITH A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION IN IT. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR AND WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE THAT WAS NEVER PRESENT BEFORE SO I TOLD SATURN TO TAKE IT BACK AND FIX IT AGAIN. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO HEAR THE SOUND AND GAVE THE CAR BACK TO ME THE NEXT DAY (FRIDAY 04/10/09). I DROVE THE CAR HOME (ABOUT 4 MILES) AND DID NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL I WENT TO WORK ON MONDAY (04/13/09). WORK IS 15 MILES AWAY. WHEN I LEFT WORK I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT WITH MY CAR IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE ONLY! WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD LIKE AS IF I WERE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I WAS INCHES FROM HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE TEMP WENT DEAD COLD. THEN I PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE AND THE TEMP WHEN BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE. THIS HAPPENED ONCE MORE BEFORE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. I GOT ON THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR DID NOT FEEL RIGHT (VERY SLUGGISH). I HAD TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR FOR THE CAR TO MOVE MORE THAN JUST A LITTLE. THE ENGINE NOISE WAS BACK EVEN LOUDER THAN BEFORE. I MADE IT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE CLOSED FOR THE DAY SO I LEFT MY CAR OVER NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE DROPPED ME OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP. I NEEDED TO PULL MY CAR INTO THE SERVICE BAY SO I STARTED MY CAR BUT JUST TURNING THE KEY BUT NOT PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REVVED TO OVER 3000 RPM. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. I NOTICED THAT MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS WERE FLASHING. THE MORE GAS I GAVE THE CAR THE FASTER THE DAYTIME LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF. THE SATURN MECHANIC TEST DROVE MY CAR AND USED SOME INSTRUMENT PLUGGED UNDER THE DASH. HE CAME BACK FROM THE DRIVE AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION AGAIN! THIS IS MY 4TH TRANSMISSION IN THE LAST 1 1/2 YEAR. *TR
I OWN A 2003 SATURN VUE THAT I BOUGHT NEW FROM THE DEALER IN OCTOBER OF 2002. I JUST GOT MY CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER LAST FRIDAY WITH THE 3RD TRANSMISSION THAT HAS BEEN INSTALLED IN THE CAR IN THE LAST 1 1/2 YEARS. THIS IS DUE TO THE ISSUE THAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN REPORTING WITH THE VTI TRANSMISSIONS. SINCE THE CAR IS ON IT'S 4TH TRANSMISSION (I AM COUNTING THE ONE THAT CAME WITH IT WHEN I GOT IT NEW) I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL BE OUT OF LUCK WHEN MY MILEAGE REACHES 100,000 MILES. SATURN SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANY ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION AFTER 100,000 MILES EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. I WAS LEFT STRANDED THE 1ST TIME, MY WIFE AND 3 KIDS WERE STRANDED THE 2ND TIME (WE LIVE IN LAS VEGAS AND THIS WAS IN THE SUMMER WHEN IT WAS ABOUT 115 DEGREES). THE LAST TIME (THIS LAST WEEK) THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT SOON CAME ON AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE I BROKE DOWN. YOU CAN IMAGE HOW HAPPY I WAS WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE REASON FOR THE SERVICE LIGHT WAS MY TRANSMISSION! I AM HONESTLY VERY EASY ON THIS CAR, I HAVE NEVER FLOORED IT OR DRIVEN AT REALLY HIGH RPM'S. A YEAR LATER WE HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM FIXED AND PAID FOR IT SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. CURRENTLY WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VUE DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM THE TRANS IS COMPLETELY OUT AND SATURN WILL NOT REPLACE IT, INSTEAD THEY WANT $9000 TO REPAIR THE TRANS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 75,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO SLIP INTO GEAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. A MECHANIC EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE DEALER SHOULD PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,909 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,900.
THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS A 2003 SATURN VUE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH 53,048 MILES ON IT, SO I AGREED TO BUY IT IN "AS IS" CONDITION. I GOT THE VEHICLE ON DEC. 31ST 2007, AND I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. I FELT A WEIRD SHAKE THAT REMINDED ME OF WHEN A BATTERY WAS DYING. ON HILLS THE TRUCK WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS, AND KICK HARD WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS. IT WOULD JUST RANDOMLY JERK, AND IT DID THIS ALL THROUGHOUT MY OWNERSHIP. THE TRUCK WAS SERVICED REGULARLY, AND MECHANICS NEVER SAW A PROBLEM. FINALLY, ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, THE TRUCK ENCOUNTERED MAJOR PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK DECIDED THAT IT WAS NO LONGER GOING TO ACCELERATE, IT WAS A FIGHT TO MOVE FORWARD. THE RPMS STAYED BETWEEN 1-3 EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION. THE TRANSMISSION IS UNIQUE, AND IS SAID TO HAVE LESS PARTS. IT IS SAID TO BE BAD BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS TOO HEAVY FOR THE TRANSMISSION. IT IS A MINIMUM OF 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR. THEY SAY THAT THE PROBLEM WILL REOCCUR. THE REPAIRS ARE FREQUENT AND COSTLY AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE. *TR

TALKED TO LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP THEY SAID THEY THOUGHT THERE WAS A LAW THAT MANUFACTURERS HAVE TO CORRECT A SAFETY ISSUE FOR UP TO 10 YEARS AFTER CAR IS MANUFACTURED AT NO CHARGE TO CONSUMER. CALLED DEALER THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS OF COURSE. STUCK WITH PROBLEM AND CONCERNED. *TR

ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, SHE ALSO SMELLED OIL BURNING AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE RIGHT INNER CV JOINT BOOT. THE HAZARDS LIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE NORMALLY AND WERE REPAIRED TWICE DUE TO REPEAT FAILURES. WHEN SHE ENGAGED THE HAZARD SWITCH, IT COLLAPSED INTO THE DASHBOARD CONSOLE. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THERMOSTAT FAILED AND IT WAS REPLACED. ALL REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE PER THE WARRANTY. THE REAR LATERAL LINK ASSEMBLY RECALL NUMBER 04067001 2002-2004 VUE REAR SUSPENSION RECALL WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE; HOWEVER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THE IMPROPER LEVEL OF FUEL THAT WAS IN THE FUEL TANK; ALTHOUGH, THE FUEL SENDING UNITS WERE REPLACED. ALL OF THE REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE HAVE FAILED MORE THAN ONCE. THE HORN WOULD ALSO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER FOUND A SHORTAGE IN THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND REPLACED THE OPERATING DESIGN SYSTEM WHICH FORCED THE MECHANIC TO REPROGRAM THE KEYS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VALVE COVER GASKET FAILED A SECOND TIME WHEN THE CONTACT SMELLED OIL BURNING. THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS FOR MOST OF THE OTHER FAILED COMPONENTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,002 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,501.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SATURN VUE. THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A NOISE WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE 2002 MODELS, BUT NOT THE 2003 VUE. SHE FEELS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SATURN SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THE STEERING COULD FAIL AT ANY MOMENT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,358 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,050.
