TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT CONFIRMED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V118000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000...UPDATED 06/17/14 *BF UPDATED 8/23/2017*CN
I HAVE BEEN HAVING TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE SWITCH , #1 , I CAN REMOVE THE KEY WHILE THE MOTOR IS RUNNING AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO RUN ,. #2 , WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION OFF THE KEY WILL JAM BEFORE REACHING THE KEY REMOVAL POSITION , THIS IS INTERMITTENT , AND I HAVE TURN TO THE IGNITION ON POSITION AND THEN TURN IT OFF A SECOND TIME , THIS USUALLY WORKS , MOST OF THE TIME . MY QUESTION IS GIVEN THAT GM HAS NOW IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH FAULTS (FAILURE) , WHY HAVE THEY ONLY JUST RECALLED SOME OF THE SATURN LINE OF VEHICLES AND NOT ALL OF THEM. I AM AWARE THAT SINCE GM CLOSED THE SATURN PLANTS , THAT THEY HAVE A TEN YEAR COMMITMENT TO FIX PROBLEMS ON ALL SATURN VEHICLES , THIS INFORMATION WAS GIVEN TOO ME BY A GM DEALERSHIP IN THE SEATTLE AREA , DURING A VISIT TO GET A LUBE JOB . WE LIVE IN MOSES LAKE , WA ABOUT 300 MILES FROM SEATTLE . ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS DEALERSHIP ARE THE ONLY ONE IN WA CONTRACTED TO DO ANY WORK ON THE SATURN LINE OF VEHICLES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WHENEVER THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE FAILURE BEGAN WHEN THE WIRE USED FOR THE HEATED PASSENGER'S SEAT FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAT ELEMENT WIRE FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON WITH HIS PARTICULAR MODEL THAT HAD THE OPTIONALLY HEATED SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000. NOTICED A FUEL LEAK AROUND TANK FILLER AREA. REPLACED FUEL CAP BUT DID NOT HELP. NOTICEABLE FUEL ODOR. VEHICLE IS HARD TO START WHEN SITTING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD (LONGER THAN 6 HOURS). MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT LEAK WAS AROUND FUEL PUMP. WAS INFORMED OF RECALL INVOLVING OTHER SIMILAR 2007 GM VEHICLES, BUT NOT THE SATURN VUE, ALTHOUGH THE VUE HAS SAME TYPE OF FUEL PUMP. VEHICLES CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN THE RECALL INCLUDE THE SATURN ION, CHEVROLET EQUINOX, AND PONTIAC TORRENT. *TR
STRONG GASOLINE VAPOR SMELL, DEALER FOUND FUEL LEAK AT FUEL MODULE MOLDED HOSE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE (I90) NEAR ROCKFORD IL WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT AND THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SEAT BELTS LOCKED UP AND THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED THROUGH GM. MY INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS THEY WONT FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. GM HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL AT ALL. GM HAD AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR OUT. THE INVESTIGATOR SAID IT WAS OBVIOUS IT WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. GM HAS BEEN VERY VAGUE IN ITS RESPONSE. ONLY SAYING THAT THEY BELIEVE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS OK, "SOMETHING MUST HAVE MADE IT GO OFF". *TR
CAR PARKED AND ROLLED ACROSS LOT AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. KEY CAN BE REMOVED WITHOUT BEING IN PARK. 3 ADDITIONAL INCIDENCES WITHOUT CRASH DUE TO SAFETY FUNCTION NOT ACTIVE HAVE OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON ROAD THAT WAS HAVING SOME ROAD REPAIR ON A ROUGH SECTION I LOST ALL POWER NO STEERING HARD BRAKES . I HAVE HAD THIS PROB SEVERAL TIMES SINCE, THANK YOU *TR
MY VUE HAS MYSTERIOUSLY STARTED EMITTING A STRONG SCENT OF FUEL BEFORE I COULD GET IT INTO A DAY ALERT TO DIAGNOSE AND SERVICE IT I WAS ON THE ROAD WHEN A FIRE STARTED IN THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE FILLING IT WITH SMOKE. I PULLED OVER AND MY BOYFRIEND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES BUT MY BRAKE LIGHT AND DASH LIGHT AND INSTRUMENTATION HAD BEEN DAMAGE FROM ELECTRICAL HARNESSES FRYING . ALSO NEEDED TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP RETURN SYSTEM AND FLOAT AS THEY WERE THE INITIAL CRACKED CAUSE. VERY SCARY THANK GOD AND JESUS MY BABY GIRLS WEREN'T IN THE CAR OR THAT WORSE HAD HAPPENED. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS 2007 SATURN VUE V6 AWD IN JULY 2012 FROM BRIGHTON FORD, BRIGHTON MI NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION WHEN TEST DRIVING. LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER I BUY IT THE AC GOES OUT, AND THE SHUTTERING GETS WORSE. TAKE IT BACK TO THEM TO LOOK AT AND GET REFERRED TO A TIRE SHOP. WAS TOLD THE AC COIL HAD A HUGE LEAK, AND WAS PROBABLY "TOPPED OFF" AT BY THE DEALER AND THAT THERE WAS SOME TIRE WEAR ISSUES. BRIGHTON FORD REFUSED TO FIX ANYTHING. DRIVE IT FOR ABOUT A YEAR THE SHUTTERING GETS WORSE AND WORSE TAKE IT IN TO BUD KOUTS CHEVROLET, LANSING, MI FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON, IT WAS BECAUSE OF A MISS FIRE IN TWO OF THE CYLINDERS. TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SHUTTERING, WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. 28 DAYS LATER I HAVE A TIRE EXPLODE, TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. TAKE IT BACK AFTER FINDING A HUGE HOLE IN THE SHOCK ABSORBER CASING. THIS TIME SPEAKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP OWNER DIRECTLY, AFTER TWO DAYS THEY FINALLY FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE SHUTTERING, A BAD TORQUE CONVERTER. THEY ADMITTED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE ON THE THESE VEHICLES, BUT STILL WANT ABOUT $2000 TO FIX IT. IF THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS THERE SHOULD BE. I WILL NEVER BY A GM MADE VEHICLE AGAIN. I'VE OWNED THREE NOW AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THEM. THE SUBARU I OWNED HAD WELL OVER 200,000 MILES AND NO ISSUES THE SAME GOES FOR A MAZDA I OWNED. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND WITHIN A YEAR MY KEY WOULD GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD NOT TURN THE KEY AT ALL TO EITHER TURN ON OR OFF THE VEHICLE OR TO GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I BELIEVE I HAD MY OWN MECHANIC FIX IT. THEN THE NEXT TIMES IT STARTED HAPPENING, IT WOULD HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY. I WAS WORKING WITH INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE DISABLED AND TAKING THEM OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY USING MY OWN CAR. ON AN EXTREMELY HOT DAY(IN THE 90S) MY KEY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION (ALL I DID WAS PUT THE KEY IN NORMALLY TO START THE CAR) AND THE INDIVIDUAL I HAD IN THE CAR REFUSED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR (WHICH POSED A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD TO THAT INDIVIDUAL BECAUSE INSIDE THE CAR AT THAT POINT I AM SURE WAS OVER 100 DEGREES). I FINALLY CONVINCED THE INDIVIDUAL TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AFTER ABOUT A HALF HOUR. AFTER I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW MY CAR I CALLED GM TO FILE A COMPLAINT BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A NORMAL ISSUE.GM FIXED THE ISSUE AND TOLD ME IT WAS MY KEY (WHICH I HAD ANOTHER KEY MADE TO HOPE TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE) A GOOD DESCRIPTION OF THE ISSUE IS I WOULD BE: I PUT THE KEY IN NORMALLY, IT WOULD PARTIALLY TURN, AND THEN STOP AND I CANNOT MOVE THE KEY AT ALL, EVEN TO GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES TO TURN THE WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT TO "UNLOCK" THE IGNITION. THIS WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING AT ALL. SOMETIMES IF I LET THE CAR SIT FOR A WHILE AND GO BACK TO IT, IT WOULD JUST WORK. OTHER TIMES, IT DIDN'T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TRIED TO GET IT TO WORK, IT WOULD NOT.EVEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVERS COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK. ALSO, MY AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY.I HAVE NEVER HAD THE AIR BAG LIGHT ISSUE LOOKED AT, BUT WITH THE REPORTS ON THE NEWS I THOUGHT COULD BE AN ISSUE TOO. *TR
WHEN YOU TRY TO START THE CAR, THE IGNITION WON'T TURN UNLESS YOU TRY TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE AS TIME GOES ON. *TR
THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS SOMETIMES DON'T COME ON AND THE RADIO WILL BE ON BECAUSE I CAN HEAR IT BUT THERE IS NO DISPLAY OR LIGHTS, IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON A FEW TIMES I CAN USUALLY GET THEM TO WORK AGAIN. *TR
I OWN A 2007 SATURN VUE WHICH WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN MAY 2007. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES FOR WEEKS BEFORE IT WILL TURN OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS SO THEY SAY. RIGHT AFTER I BRING THE VEHICLE HOME THE PROBLEM BEGINS AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE WARRANTY HAS SINCE EXPIRED AND I DON'T THINK I SHOULD BE THE ONE TO PAY FOR A REPAIR WHEN IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN READING THE SAME PROBLEM FROM QUITE A FEW OWNERS. WHY DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR DIE FOR THAT MATTER BEFORE THE MANUFACTURE WILL DO SOMETHING TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY? THE PART PROBABLY DOESN'T COST THAT MUCH FOR THE MANUFACTURE TO FIX BUT THEY WOULD RATHER RISK GETTING SUED FOR MILLIONS THAN FIX A $$ PROBLEM. OH THE SHAME!
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY REGARDLESS OF SPEED, CONDITION, OR TIME OF DAY. SEATS HAVE NOT BEEN WET FROM SPILLAGE OR ABUSE. THIS FAILURE CAUSES ME CONCERN BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS NEXT. AND, IS THE AIRBAG GOING TO ACTIVATE. *TR

KEY STICKING IN IGNITION SWITCH, HAD REPLACED IN 2011 & IT STARTED TO HAPPEN AGAIN ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO, KEY WOULD NOT TURN SO HAD MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND THEY PUT LUBE IN IT, WORKED FOR A WHILE AND STARTED DOING IT AGAIN, GETTING WORSE EVERYDAY, REALLY HARD TO START, GM RECALLED A BUNCH OF SATURNS FOR IGNITION SWITCH JUST NOT 2007 SATURN VUE, IT HAS SAME SWITCH THAT WAS RECALLED SO THEY SHOULD REPLACE IT BUT THEY WILL NOT UNLESS I PAY FOR IT, NOT TOO FARE OF GM TO LEAVE THESE CARS OUT OF RECALLS, SO NOW I'M STUCK. FRONT STABILIZER BAR BROKE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. 1 INCH THICK BAR SNAPPED LEAVING PARTS DRAGGING, ABS SYSTEM INACTIVE AND CAR UNEXPECTEDLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. LUCKILY THE CAR WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. *TR
AIR BAG LITES (MAIN AND PASSENGER SEAT) GO ON AND OFF SPORADICALLY AND FOR NO REASON, ONE SOMETIMES BOTH. HITTING A BUMP SOMETIMES CHANGED THERE SETTING, EITHER ON OR OFF. CURRENTLY THEY ARE MOSTLY OFF. GM DEALERS AND INDEPENDENT SHOPS WANT $110 TO $200 TO ANALYZE AND $700 TO $1200 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ALSO THE DAYLITE RUNNING LITE INDICATOR NO LONGER WORKS, THE SEAT BELT ALARM (NOT FASTENED) DOESN'T ALWAYS SOUND AND THEN COMES ON 3 OR 4 MINUTES LATER, AND THE HEATER DOESN'T ALWAYS "HEAT". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, SHE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. SHE ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I BOUGHT A 2007 SATURN VUE FROM A DEALER AS WELL AND MY AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE COMES ON A LOT TO. IT IS ON WHEN NO ONE IS SITTING IN IT BUT TURNS OFF WHEN SOMEONE DOES SIT IN IT. NO MATTER THE SIZE OR WEIGH OF THAT PERSON SOMETIMES IT WILL SAY IT IS ON SOMETIMES IT WILL SAY IT HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. NOT SURE IF THERE IS REALLY ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE AIRBAG OR IT IS JUST A LIGHT TELLING YOU THERE IS. ON-STAR SAYS THAT AIRBAGS ARE FINE THOUGH. LITTLE CONCERNED IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS BECAUSE THAT IS ONE HECK OF A LAWSUIT THEY WILL HAVE ON THERE HANDS IF WE ARE TO EVER GET IN AN ACCENT AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IF IT WAS INDEED A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND IT SEEMS TO BE THE CASE HERE, IT SHOULD BE FIXED FOR FREE AND FAST FOR SAFETY REASONS. *TR *JS
FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED AT 83500 AND ALREADY MAKING NOISE AGAIN AT 85,400 MILES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, A GRINDING TYPE NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL AND THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING WAS FAULTY. THE BEARING WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INDICATING THAT THE SYSTEM WAS TURNED OFF ALTHOUGH A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I HAVE TWO 2007 SATURN VEHICLES, A VUE AND AN ION THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON PERIODICALLY. I TOOK THE VUE TO A DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SENSOR WAS BAD AND WANTED TO CHARGE ABOUT $500.00 TO FIX IT. THE ION HAS THE SAME PROBLEM BUT I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT IN TO BE CHECKED. IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 SATURNS AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY GM. *KB
AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH ILLUMINATED IF THE HEATED SEAT IS NOT TOGGLED REGULARLY FROM LOW TO HIGH. ON PERMANENTLY AND DOES NOT RECOGNIZE SEAT OCCUPANT IF HEATED SEAT IS LEFT IN THE OFF POSITION. HEATED SEAT DOES NOT WORK EVEN IF IN THE LOW OR HIGH POSITION. *TT

AFTER I GOT HOME,I LET THE CAR JUST SIT IN THE CARPORT FOR ABOUT 4 DAY'S BEFORE I DROVE IT AGAIN,AND OUT OF CURIOSITY I TURNED THE A/C ON,IT WAS ON THE VENT SETTING,AND THE AIR THAT WAS BEING BLOWN WAS COLD AGAIN,THE ONLY THING I CAN FIGURE IS,THAT WHEN I WASHED THE ENGINE OFF I GOT SOME KIND OF SWITCH WET,AND WITH THE CAR JUST SITTING FOR SEVERAL DAY'S AND THE SUN'S HEAT DRIED OUT THAT SWITCH,LETTING THE COLD AIR VENT TO BLOW OUT COLD AIR AGAIN.IT WASN'T A BIG PROBLEM,BUT IT SURE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THAT DAY.THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT'S EVER HAPPENED,I'M ASSUMING THAT EVEN THOUGH WHEN YOU DRIVE AND IT'S RAINING THE WATER FROM THE WHEEL WELLS CAN'T REACH THAT SPOT OR SWITCH,BUT IF YOU PUT WATER ON IT FROM ABOVE,IT PROBABLY WILL CAUSE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM,YOUR GUESS WOULD BE AS GOOD AS MINE,BUT THAT'S ALL I CAN FIGURE THAT MIGHT OF HAPPENED,AT LEAST I HAVE COLD AIR BLOWING NOW!!! MY 2007 SATURN VUE (6CYL) EXPERIENCED A STEERING PROBLEM FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS YEAR. THE RACK AND PINION WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN APRIL 2010. IN DEC 2010 THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN WORST THEN THE 1ST TIME. ITS HARD TO TURN AROUND CORNERS AND VERY TOUGH TO IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER OUT OF PARKING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE DEALER SAID ITS THE POWER STEERING PUMP, THE PUMP IS UNDER A NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST ONE MONTH. THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE IT FOR FREE AS I RAN OUT OF WARRANTY AND DROVE MORE THEN 12K MILES SINCE THE LAST RACK & PINION REPLACEMENT. 2007 VUE HYBRID. NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM RELATED TO THE HYBRID SYSTEM WITHIN FIRST MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. RECENTLY RECEIVED "VOLUNTARY RECALL NOTICE FOR HYBRID BATTERY. BATTERY "BACK-ORDERED" FOR OVER 6 WEEKS. WAS TOLD IT WAS ENTIRELY SAFE TO DRIVE AND IT JUST WOULDN'T PERFORM AS EFFICIENTLY. CAR PARKED IN GARAGE AND WOULD NOT START. RETURNED FROM OUT OF TOWN TRIP AND CAR STARTED. HAD TO REPLACE AT OUR EXPENSE THE 12 VOLT BATTERY. THE HYBRID BATTERY PROBABLY CAUSED THE FAILURE OF THE 12 VOLT BATTERY BUT GM DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IN THE RECALL. GM SHOULD BE MANDATED TO PAY FOR FAILED 12 VOLT BATTERIES CAUSED BY THE FAILURE OF THE HYBRID BATTERY. *TR
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF FOR YEARS... I BELIEVE IT STARTED IN 2010 I CALLED THE DEALER AND ALSO CONTRACTED GM AND NO RECALLS WERE REPORTED. I THEN CHECK ON IT WITH NHTSA NO RECALLS. IT 1ST. STARTED ON RIGHT PASSENGERS SIDE IT WOULD WARN IT WAS NOT ON EVER WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF. NOW THE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE REPORTING ON IT. I DO BELIEVE THAT THE AIR BAG OR AIR BAGS WILL NOT COME ON IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT. AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, MY SATURN VUE EXPERIENCED FAILURE OF THE IGNITION LOCK SYSTEM WHICH COST ME A FEE OF $141.12 TO HAVE IT REPLACED AT THE A-ABRA-CADABRA LOCK SERVICE IN AKRON, OHIO. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN I INSERTED THE IGNITION KEY, SOMETIMES THE MOTOR WOULD START, AND SOMETIMES IT WOULDN'T. OFTENTIMES, I HAD TO SHAKE THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET THE IGNITION TO WORK. ALSO, SOMETIMES THE IGNITION KEY WAS DIFFICULT TO GET IN AND OUT OF ITS SLOT. BECAUSE OF THESE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS, I FEARED AN ACCIDENT. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER OF THE LOCK SERVICE SHOP, AT THAT TIME HIS INSTALLATION AT 09/27/10, THE REPLACEMENT MECHANISM WOULD EVENTUALLY GIVE ME THE SAME PROBLEMS, AND FAIL ONCE AGAIN. HE SAID IT WAS THE ONLY IGNITION SWITCH AVAILABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE, AND ONLY ONE MANUFACTURER SUPPLIER PRODUCED THE PART. HE SAID ALL OF THEM WERE DEFECTIVE. GM SHOULD IMMEDIATELY RECALL AND REPLACE THIS PART FOR THE SATURN VUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT IN THE IGNITION FAILURE. LOST HYBRID FUNCTIONS, THE ALL CHECK LIGHTS WERE VISIBLE, STARTING WITH BATTERY, THEN ENGINE, LOST ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ABILITY TO STEER CAR ETC. CAR STOPPED WORKING AND 12 VOLT BATTERY COULD NOT EVEN BE JUMP STARTED. HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE AUGUST 30, 2010. SHOP UNABLE TO TELL ME WHEN CAR WILL BE RETURNED. PERHAPS AFTER OCTOBER 18, 2010. WAITING FOR A REPLACEMENT HYBRID BATTERY. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME CAR IN SHOP FOR HYBRID BATTERY DEFECTS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT. SEVERE ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER ISSUES. THE HYBRID BATTERY WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE HYBRID BATTERY WAS REPLACED BUT WE HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER PROBLEMS. THE RADIO QUIT WORKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE IGNITION SWITCH/CORE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS WE PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET EVEN THOUGH GM KNEW ABOUT SIMILAR IGNITION ISSUES WITH SATURN VUE'S AND OTHER CARS. WE ARE STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THE KEY WILL FALL OUT OF THE IGNITION WHILE DRIVING. GM HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ALL COME ON AT RANDOM TIMES. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AT RANDOM TIMES DESPITE OUR BRINGING IT TO GM'S ATTENTION FROM THE MOMENT WE PURCHASED THE CAR. WE REPLACED THE AIRBAG SENSOR BUT THE PROBLEMS HAVE PERSISTED. GM SAYS THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS DESPITE THE AIRBAG LIGHT RANDOMLY COMING ON. RECENTLY THE HYBRID BATTERY HAS STOPPED FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AGAIN. WE FEEL TOTALLY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR AND GM DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE. GM SHOULD PAY FOR ANY AND ALL REPAIRS THAT MAY BE NEEDED. ONE WEEK LATER, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH AND THE VOLTAGE IMBALANCE DRAINED THE BATTERY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,925 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.

MY 2007 SATURN VUE HYBRID BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JUNE, 2010 AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY PACK (THIS WILL BE THE 3RD ONE), THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BATTERY PACKS, AND THAT IT WAS "SAFE" TO DRIVE UNTIL THE BATTERIES WERE REPLACED. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 30, 2010 AND NO BATTERY PACKS ARE AVAILABLE. I'M FINDING OUT THROUGH INTERNET RESEARCH THAT ONCE THE BATTERY PACK GOES, ALL POWER WILL DRAIN AND THE CAR WILL CEASE TO FUNCTION WITHIN 30 MINUTES--THAT INCLUDES BRAKES AND STEERING. I'VE COMPLAINED TO GM WHO NOW HOLDS THE WARRANTIES ON SATURN AND THEY ADVISE ME BIWEEKLY THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN BATTERY PACKS WILL BE AVAILABLE. ASIDE FROM SHIRKING ITS WARRANTY OBLIGATION, GM IS CREATING POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARDS ON THESE HYBRIDS WHEN THE RECALLED BATTERY PACKS FAIL AND POWER IS LOST WHILE THE CAR IS IN OPERATION.
