ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE CODE READ. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. IT SOUNDED SERIOUS SO I SAID JUST FIX IT. $600 LATER MY CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT WITH NO PROBLEMS. ABOUT A WEEK AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE SAME REASON. DEALERSHIP WONT FIX IT AGAIN AND BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY HAVE DONE ALL THEY CAN DO. THEY DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS. EVERYTIME I FILL MY GAS TANK MY CAR TAKES ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO START AGAIN AND IT STRUGGLES. LOTS OF SPUTTERING AND MOST OF THE TIME IT STARTS THEN DIES. IVE BEEN TOLD I WASN'T THE CAUSE AND ITS PROBABLY JUST A FAULTY GAS CAP SO I REPLACED THAT AND THE LIGHT IS STILL ON AFTER HAVING IT CLEARED. THEIR OTHER EXPLANATION WAS ITS A SATURN SO EXPECT PROBLEMS. I WAS NOT HAPPY TO HEAR THAT. THEY REPLACED THE PURGE VALVE, VENT VALVE, CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND EVERYTHING. THERE IS NO REASON IT SHOULD BE MESSED UP AGAIN ESPECIALLY THIS SOON AFTER REPLACEMENT. OTHER THAN THAT MY CAR RUNS GREAT AFTER 4 YEARS OF OWNING AND DRIVING IT ALL OVER THE STATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN VUE LX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, HE WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE NOZZLE UPSIDE DOWN IN ORDER TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE OTHERWISE, FUEL WOULD NOT ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A FAILURE WITHIN THE VENTING SYSTEM. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000. UPDATED 8/29/11 *CN THE REPAIR SHOP INSTALLED A NEW VENT CHECK VALVE WITH NO SUCCESS. UPDATED 09/21/11
"CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. FAULT CODE P0446. GAS TANK HISSES LOUDLY WHEN I UNDO THE GAS CAP. LOUD POPPING SOUND (LIKE PRESSURE RELEASING FROM A PLASTIC BOTTLE WHEN AIR IS SUCKED OUT AND THEN AIR IS ALLOWED TO RE-ENTER),FROM UNDER THE CAR. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY GAS TANK COULD RUPTURE, LEAK OR EXPLODE AND CATCH FIRE. *TR
AT 200 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. TOLD ME THAT I PROBABLY DIDN'T PUT THE GAS CAP ON PROPERLY. THEY RE-SET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AT 800 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER. THEY WERE ABLE TO DETECT 2 ERROR CODES ON THE COMPUTER. THEY EXAMINED THE CAR AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL HOLE ON THE FLANGE OF THE FUEL PUMP. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND RE-SET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FINE SINCE. OLD FUEL PUMP IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
2008 SATURN VUE WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEARS DOWN ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. HE ALSO STATES THAT THE ENGINE WILL SPEED UP TO ABOUT 80 MPH BEFORE GOING BACK TO NORMAL SPEED. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE KICKED INTO GEAR WHILE USING THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE GAS MILEAGE DOES NOT MEET THE STATED HIGHWAY DRIVING AVERAGE MILES PER GALLON FOR A 4 CYLINDER VEHICLE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 SATURN VUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, AND INSTRUMENTAL PANEL LIGHTS SHUT OFF SEVERAL TIMES. MOST RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, ALL OF THE LIGHTS DIMMED. WHEN THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED, THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPUTER BODY SENSOR. AFTER THE LAST FAILURE, THE DEALER REPLACED THE INSTRUMENTAL GAUGE CLUSTER AND THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. THE CONTACT HAS NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO EXCHANGE THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,719 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,070.
