WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOOSE AND EASILY TURNS LEFT, ALMOST ON ITS OWN. WHERE AS TURNING IT TO THE RIGHT IS TIGHT AND MORE DIFFICULT. THIS MAKES DRIVING VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY ON WINDY DAYS. I'VE READ ABOUT IT HERE AND THERE ONLINE WHILE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHATS HAPPENING AND I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. ONE PERSON STATED THAT THE STEERING SENSOR NEEDED ALIGNMENT.
TOYOTA ADVISED BASED ON A FREEZE FRAME OF DATA ON THE COMPUTER THEY WERE DENYING MY WARRANTY FOR AN "OVER REV". THE REV THEY ARE CITING IS 7300 RPM AT 35 MPH, WHICH IS UNDER THE FACTORY SET REV LIMITER AND IS ALSO THE CORRECT REV FOR THAT SPEED IN 1ST GEAR ON MY 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. FURTHER MORE I HAVE EVIDENCE BASED ON THEIR FREEZE FRAME DATA THAT THE DATA WAS NOT COLLECTED AT THE TIME OF FAILURE BUT AT ANOTHER POINT DUE TO TEMPERATURES OF THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE COMPARED TO THE FREEZE FRAME DATA, AS WELL AS THE RUN TIME STATED ON THE FREEZE FRAME COMPARED TO HOW LONG I HAD DRIVEN THE CAR THAT MORNING. TOYOTA HAS TOLD ME 4 TIMES THAT THE DISTRICT PARTS AND SERVICE MANAGER HAS BEEN THE LAST ONE TO DENY THE CLAIM AND HAS TOLD ME THAT TO SPEAK TO HIM, I NEED TO TALK TO DEALER. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ADVISED ME THAT THEY CANNOT GIVE HIS INFORMATION OUT AS HE IS A TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE AND NOT A DEALERSHIP ONE. TOYOTA CANNOT PROVE THAT THE INFORMATION USED IS ACTUALLY RELATED TO MY CLAIM AND IS STONE WALLING ANY ATTEMPT OF ME TO REVIEW THIS INFORMATION WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT DENIED THE CLAIM. OUTSIDE OF TOYOTA, THE DEALERSHIP CITED EXHAUST MODIFICATIONS AS A REASON MY WARRANTY WOULD NO LONGER APPLY EVEN THOUGH TOYOTA DID NOT CITE THAT IN THEIR DENIAL, NOR CAN THEY PROVE AN EXHAUST CAUSED INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE. TOYOTA HAS ALSO REFUSED TO SEND ME A WRITTEN OFFICIAL DENIAL LETTER. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT AT THE TIME OF FAILURE.
I NOTICED MY CLUTCH WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR SMOOTHLY ANYMORE AND I BABY MY CLUTCH ALL THE TIME. ONE DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND THEN MY CAR WOULD NOT GO EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN GEAR. I MANAGED TO GET MY CAR TO DRIVE AGAIN AND IT WAS FINE. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO LEAVE MY HOUSE AND I GOT AROUND THE CORNER AND MY CAR WOULD NOT COME OUT OF FIRST GEAR AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 5 MPH. I TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEANUAL TRANSMISSION BEARING SCREW BROKE AND MADE MY TRANSMISSION SEIZE UP WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES.FOR THEM TO DO THE WORK IT COSTED 1500. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR THE CLUTCH NOT SHIFTING RIGHT BEFORE AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I KNOW A COUPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM SO I LOOKED INTO 2013 SCION FR-S MANUAL TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND I HAVE FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF THE VEHICLE. MY CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT FINALLY GAVE OUT ON ME I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE CITY STREET AND THEN MY CAR JUST STOPPED MOVING AND I HAD TO PUSH IT BACK TO MY HOUSE. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WHEN IT HAPPENED I WAS PULLING UP TO A RED LIGHT SO O WAS SLOWING DOWN AND THEN I COULDN'T MOVE AGAIN. I ASKED IF THEY HAVE A RECALL ON IT AND THEY SAID NO SO I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF THERE IS A WAY FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE THEOWOUT BEARING SINCE IT WAS A SCREW THAT BROKE AND CAUSED IT TO SEIZE THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY SAID NOT EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW THAT THE CAR HAS THE PROBLEM WITH IT.
ROD BEARING FAILURE CAUSING SUDDEN SLOWDOWN. FAILURE WAS DUE TO FACTORY DEFECT OF HAVING TOO MUCH SEALANT IN BETWEEN INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS, CAUSING OIL STARVATION.
I'LL BE DRIVING AND RPM WILL DIP SO FAST SOMETIME CARS DIES BUT HAPPENS EVERY NOW AND THEN. SOMETIMES IN START UP AND OR JUST JUST A STOP LIGHT
ROD KNOCK HAPPENED FOR TWO MILES HEADED HOME AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. CHECKED OIL LEVELS AND THEY WERE PERFECT LEVEL.
3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, CAR BLEW A TIE ROD AND HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED. IT HAD ABOUT 38000 MILES ON IT. ONE MONTH AFTER THAT REPAIR, A PUSH ROD WENT THROUGH A VALVE COVER. BOTH TIMES THE CAR HAD NO OIL, AND NO WARNING TO REPLACE THE OIL. DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO HONOR WARRANTY ON THE SECOND PROBLEM.
I DRIVE A FRS, AUTOMIATIC. BOUGHT IT USED WITH 80,000 MILES. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS TWO MONTHS INTO OWNING IT. HAD A FEELING LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO STALL. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE TRACTION LIGHT. CODE READ P0019. CAR WOULD SHAKE VICIOUSLY WHEN I WHEN STOP AT A RED LIGHT. SHOOK WHEN I REVERSED SOMETIMES. STARTED IDLING REALLY LOW. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, $6,450. READ A LOT OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS FROM OTHER FRS OWNERS. CALL CORPORATE, THEY BUILD A CASE FOR ME. COMPLETELY BLEW ME OFF, BECAUSE THE CAR WASN'T SERVICED WITH THEM THROUGHOUT 30,000 MILES BY OWNER BEFORE. THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T HELP A USED CAR. MY HOUSEHOLD HOLDS 6 TOYOTA CARS AND THEY DIDN'T DO ONE THING TO HELP, BUT OFFERED $1,000 IF I BOUGHT A NEW CAR OFF THEM. I'M IN SCHOOL AND HAVE TO PAY OTHER THINGS AND I TRUSTED THEM AND THEIR VEHICLES AND WAS JUST BLOWN OFF LIKE NOTHING. IT SUCKS TO FINALLY BUY YOUR DREAM CAR AND ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE'S SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. TOYOTA FAILED ME. ODOMETER READS 87,000
TAKATA RECALL 2,000 MILES PAST WARRANTY, THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AND LOST POWER. NOT SURE IF IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS STOPPED OR IN TRANSIENT. IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK AND I HAD JUST STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO GET A CUP OF COFFEE. TOYOTA CHANGED OUT THE COMPUTER FREE OF CHARGE BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL EXISTING. WHICH MEANS IT'S AN INTERNAL ENGINE/ TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT COLLECTS CONDENSATION TOO. ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT PRESENT CURRENTLY IN THE PHOTO. IT IS PRESENT AFTER EVERY WASH OR HEAVY RAIN. THE LEFT WINDOW SEAL ROLLING UP AND NOT SEALING PROPERLY. I KNOW THEIR ARE MANY MORE PEOPLE WITH THESE EXACT SAME ISSUES, AS I HAVE READ ONLINE BUT THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR SUPPORT FROM TOYOTA TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES AT THIS MOMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 SCION FR-S. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
IGNITION COIL CEL CAME ON RARELY AT HIGH 5-7K RPM GEAR SHIFTS AND FIRST APPEARED AROUND 25K, NOW AT 37K MILES IT COMES ON CONSISTENTLY AT HIGH 5-7K RPM SHIFTS. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 15K MILES DUE TO GEARS GRINDING WITH THE CLUTCH FULLY DEPRESSED WHEN DRIVING IN ANY SPEEDS. COOLANT TANK WAS IMPROPERLY SEALED PERMITTING WATER TO EVAPORATE, I USED ELECTRIC TAPE TO MAKE A SEAL. ENGINE DID NOT HAVE A HIGH PITCH CRICKET-LIKE NOISE UPON PURCHASE AND WITHIN 100 MILES AND SINCE IT HAS A HIGH PITCHED NOISE WHEN IDLE. PASSENGER'S WINDOW SWITCH DOES NOT AUTO SCROLL UPON PRESSING THE 2ND NOTCH ABOUT 10% OF THE TIME IN ANY CONDITION. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS HAVE VERY DISTINCT 3 INCH WIDE STREAK MARKS FROM SCROLLING UP AND DOWN. THE CENTER OF THE INTERIOR DASHBOARD HAS BEEN SLIGHTLY WARPED SINCE 15K MILES.
AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF SMELLING BURNT OIL IN THE CABIN, I DISCOVERED A SERIOUS OIL LEAK ON THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE HAS A BLOCK OFF PLATE ON THE RIGHT REAR CAMSHAFT AREA. IT IS A STAMPED STEEL PLATE HELD ON WITH THREE BOLTS AND SEALED WITH RTV. THE OIL WAS LEAKING AROUND THE BOTTOM BOLT AND DRIPPING ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE. SCION DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT ALL THEY COULD DO WAS RE-APPLY THE SEALANT AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. THEY ALSO COMMENTED THAT IT WOULD FAIL AGAIN IN THE SAME PLACE BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN. I ORDERED AN AFTERMARKET COVER PLATE THAT INCORPORATES AN O RING INTO THE SEAL. THIS PLATE IS GUARANTEED NOT TO LEAK IF INSTALLED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS. WEB FORUMS INDICATE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION EQUIPPED FR-S. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VERSION HAS A PUMP IN PLACE OF THE BLOCK OFF PLATE. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD AND OWNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BUY AFTERMARKET PARTS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SCION/TOYOTA (SUBARU) SHOULD DESIGN A PLATE THAT DOES NOT LEAK ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE. *JS
PURCHASE AN EXEDY STAGE 2 CLUTCH WITH LIGHT FLYWHEEL PART# 15953FW FOR A 2013 SCION FRS. ISSUE IS IT LOCK OUT OF GEAR IN FIRST AND REVERSE GEAR. YOU HAVE TO USED FORCE TO GET IT OUT OF 1ST AND REVERSE GEAR. ALSO HARD TO GET IT INTO 1ST AND REVERSE GEAR. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS CLUTCH FOR THIS VEHICLE AS MANY HAVE REPORTED THIS SIMILAR ISSUE IN FT86CLUB FORUM. THIS LOCKING AND HARD TO GET INTO GEAR MAKES IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR WHEN YOUR IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE ROAD. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR REGARDLESS IN THE CITY OR FREEWAY. NOTHING WAS DONE AS I HAVE CONTACT THE MANUFACTURE FOR A REPLACEMENT PART# 19599. THEY WANTED ME TO SEND THE OLD ONE TO THEM FOR INSPECTION WHILE I HAVE NO REPLACEMENT TO PUT IN MY CAR SO I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR. THIS IS REALLY A DEFECTED PART AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AS MANY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
AFTER ENGINE WORMS UP, LET THE ENGINE IDLE AND STAYS AT 600 RPM FOR A FEW SECONDS, JUMP TO 1100 RPM THEN DOWN TO 600 AND 400, ENGINE SHAKES UP LIKE IS GOING TO STALL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND VSC LIGHT COME ON. DEALER TOLD ME IS A CAMSHAFT GEAR DEFECT THAT WILL NOT CHANGE THE ANGLE FOR THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING(VVT). OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE CHANGE ARE OIL CONTROL VALVE AND CAMSHAFT VVT SENSOR. TOYOTA MUST ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE, MORE THAN 250 CASES WERE REPORTS ON FT86CLUB.COM. SAME EXACT PROBLEM IS SHOWN ON THE SUBARU BRZ BECAUSE IS THE EXACT SAME CAR. *TR
CLUTCH BROKE IN HALF. *TR
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP STARTED MAKING SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF NOISE, WAS DEEMED DEFECTIVE BY TOYOTA AND REPLACED. 3000 MILES LATER, THE SAME NOISE IS BACK, AND NOW TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO REPAIR / REPLACE THE PART, EVEN THOUGH CAR HAS LESS THAN 12000 MILES ON IT, EVEN NOW. THIS HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IS OF CONCERN BECAUSE IT'S THE SYSTEM THAT COMPRESSES THE FUEL TO OVER 3000 PSI. THIS SYSTEM NEVER DEPRESSURIZES, EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. A DEFECTIVE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, ONE THAT MAKES SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF NOISE, HAVE THE POSSIBILITY FOR FAILURE, AND COULD CAUSE EITHER HESITATION WHILE DRIVING, COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHILE UNDER ACCELERATION, OR POTENTIALLY A FIRE. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, RELEASED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WITH REGARDS TO AN INITIAL FIX, AND THEN COMPLETELY REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT AFTER THE FIRST FIX ATTEMPT. *TR
CPSC: I13B0068A. 2013 SCION. CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING IN CRUISE CONTROL IT FAILED CAUSING HIM TO USE HIS EMERGENCY BRAKES. *LN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE HIT THE BRAKE, TO DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL, IT DID NOT RELEASE.
THIS IS INTENDED TO REPORT A PROBLEM, NOT A ONE-TIME INCIDENT. THE SHIFT KNOB OF MY FR-S IS LOOSE ENOUGH TO ROTATE WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE ON ONLINE FORUMS DEDICATED TO THIS VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO PARTIAL MISALLOCATION OF FORCE FROM THE OPERATOR'S INTENDED SHIFTING DIRECTION INTO UNWANTED ROTATION OF THE GEAR KNOB. MISSING A GEAR, OR DELAYING OR CONFUSING THE ACTION MECHANICALLY CAN BE A HAZARD. FOR EXAMPLE, IT CAN BE CRITICAL TO MAKE A FAST AND CORRECT GEAR SHIFT WHILE MERGING INTO A TRAFFIC STREAM OR WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AGAINST OPPOSING TRAFFIC. THE LOOSENESS OF THE SHIFT KNOB, WHICH IN THIS CASE CAN ROTATE 5-15 DEGREES DURING A SHIFT ADDS AN UNWANTED AND ENTIRELY UNNECESSARY VARIABLE DURING OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. SCION/TOYOTA'S RESPONSE IS THAT THE ROTATIONAL MOVEMENT IS "NORMAL". A POINT WITH WHICH I THINK NO SELF-RESPECTING AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEER WOULD CONCUR. NOTE: PROPER SHIFTING TECHNIQUE DOES NOT REQUIRE SIGNIFICANT ROTATING FORCE TO BE APPLIED TO THE SHIFT KNOB. NEVERTHELESS IT IS INEVITABLE THAT SOME DIFFERENTIAL FORCE BE APPLIED TO ONE SIDE OF THE KNOB WHILE SHIFTING THROUGH THE GEAR PATTERN. THEREFORE THE KNOB SHOULD BE DESIGNED TO RESIST THOSE FORCES IN ORDER TO DIRECT THE THRUST IN THE DIRECTION INTENDED BY THE OPERATOR. IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT THE DESIGN OF THE FR-S SHIFT KNOB AND INTEGRATED CAP DISCOURAGES TIGHTENING OF THE SHIFT KNOB ON ITS THREADS AS THAT WILL CAUSE THE CAP TO LIFT OUT OF THE BODY OF THE SHIFT KNOB. *TR
*REGARDING MY 2013 SCION FR-S VALVE SPRING RECALL. WHAT DO I DO WITH A CAR THAT, IF I DRIVE IT, THE ENGINE MAY SUFFER A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE; IF I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR "REPAIR", THE ENGINE MAY SUFFER A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE? NORMALLY WHEN YOU PURCHASE A PRODUCT WITH A MAJOR DEFECT, YOU EXCHANGE IT FOR A NEW ONE. (THROWS UP HANDS) THIS IS IDIOCRACY.
THIS IS A COMPLAINT ON A 2013 FRS THAT WAS BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 WHICH NOW HAS 8500 MILES ON IT NOW. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE MORNING WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE UP TO GO TO WORK. I USE MY CHECK ENGINE SCANNER AND IT GAVE ME A P2404 CODE. DROVE IT FOR TWO DAYS TO SEE IF IT WOULD SHUT OFF. NOW FOR SOME REASON MY GAS IS GETTING BURNED UP REALLY FAST. MY GAS METER DROP 1/4 TANK ON A TWO DAY 15 MILE DRIVE. CRUISE CONTROL ALSO STOP WORKING TOO. SO MUCH FOR A NEW CAR. *TR
AFTER LEAVING A RESIDENCE, GETTING ONTO THE FREEWAY WITH NO ISSUES FOR ABOUT 1/4 MILE, SUDDENLY UPON GETTING ABOUT TO 50 MPH, I FELT A SHIMMY. I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE. BUT I WAS SMELLING A BURNING SMELL PRETTY QUICKLY. I THOUGHT IT WAS FROM A POLLUTED SEMI TRUCK. BUT IT GOT STRONGER. SO, I DECIDED TO TAKE THE FIRST EXIT ANOTHER 1/4 MILE UP. I TURNED ON HAZARDS AND SLOWED TO 40 AND EXITED. UPON STOPPING I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND INSPECTED FIRST THE ENGINE, SEEING NO SMOKE AROUND IT. I THEN INSPECTED THE TIRES. ALL GOOD. SO I OPTED FOR A TOUCH TEST FOR OVERHEATED TIRE, TO SEE IF THEY WERE HOT. WHICH GIVEN I ONLY DROVE MAYBE 1.5 MILES TOTAL, OR 2, THIS SEEMED UNLIKELY. WHEN LEANING TO TOUCH THE LEFT REAR TIRE, I SAW A FLAME COME OUT FROM BEHIND IT, AND IMMEDIATELY GOT AWAY FROM THE CAR AND CALLED 911 FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT. THEY ARRIVED AND DETERMINED THAT LUCKILY THE FIRE HAD EXTINGUISHED ITSELF. UPON MECHANICAL INSPECTION, I LEARNED THE CALIPER FROZE SO THE BRAKE PAD HAD IGNITED. WHILE I WAS DRIVING. A LIVE FLAME UNDER MY CAR, I AM LUCKY NOTHING HAPPENED. I AM TERRIFIED OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN AND WHAT IF ITS IN THE FRONT TIRE NEAR THE ENGINE? *TR
THIS IS BASICALLY WHY I AM CONCERNED: I FOUND THAT IF YOU GO TO LOCK/UNLOCK YOUR CAR WITH A TOYOTA/SCION SMART KEY WHILE SOMEONE WITHIN RANGE OF YOUR CAR HOLDS THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON ON THEIR TOYOTA/SCION SMART KEY, YOUR CAR WILL NOT RESPOND TO YOUR OWN KEY. THEIR SIGNAL BASICALLY JUST INTERFERES WITH YOUR SIGNAL CAUSING THE CAR TO DO NOTHING. IF YOU WALK AWAY W/O NOTICING, YOUR CAR WILL BE COMPLETELY DEFENSELESS. NO LOCK. NO ALARM. IN MY TEST, I HELD MY KEY BUTTON ABOUT 60 FEET AWAY FROM MY DADS CAR AND IT INTERFERED WITH HIS KEY CAUSING HIS CAR NOT TO LOCK. THIS ALSO WORKED VICE-VERSA. IN DRY CONDITIONS THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND I BECAME CONCERNED, SO I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE TECH SAID IT WAS A MISS SIZED FUEL HOSE, CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO CHIRP. BUT WHAT WAS WEIRD AND DREW A RED FLAG WAS ALL THE PARTS THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED: FUEL PUMP, PIPE FUEL DELIVERY NO2, GASKET, GASKET INTAKE MANIFOLD, GASKET THROTTLED. TSED SUSPICION SO I RESEARCHED MY PROBLEM. A LOT OF THE REPORTS FIND THE SAME ISSUSE, ALONG WITH OTHERS THINGS I HAVE NOTICED WITH MY CAR. THE FUEL HAS BEEN REPORTED TO LEAK, CAUSING FIRES OR ENGINGE DAMAGE AND ACCELERATION ISSUES LEADING TO SUCH. I HAVE TO NOTICED THE NEED FOR ACCESSIVE FORCE ON THE PEDAL HAS BEEN MORE AND MORE NECESSARY. ALSO STALLING AND ROUGH IDLING IS A BIG CONCERN. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH NOW AND I DO NO WISH TO LEAVE ANYTHING TO CHANCE ESPECIALLY IF IT MAY RESULT IN DEATH. MY DIRECT INJECTOR COLLAR ENDED UP DAMAGED/MISSING COMPLETELY, ORIGINALLY RESULTING IN A VIOLENT "FIRECRACKER" POPPING SOUND UNDER MODERATE THROTTLE ACCELERATION, DUE TO THE ECU WITH FAULTY PROGRAMMING. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME WITHIN A MONTH OF THIS HAPPENING TO BOTH DIRECT INJECTORS. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK/MISFIRE FROM THE INJECTOR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO RUN EXTREMELY LEAN, WHICH CAN LEAD TO ACCELERATED ENGINE WARE AND (WORST CASE SCENARIO) ENGINE DETONATION AND HAS HAPPENED TO ANOTHER PERSON ALREADY. *TR
THE FIRST TIME MY TIRE AND RIM WAS DESTROYED IT WAS SOME TIME IN FEBRUARY 2013,WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTESTATE .I WAS NOT DRIVING FAST AS A MATTER OF FACT I WAS GOING BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT, BECAUSE IF I WAS GOING FAST MY CAR WOULD FLIP AND WHO KNOWS HOW WOULD IT ENDS. ANYWAY I HEARD A THUD IN MY FROM TIRE AND IT IMMEDIATELY STATED TO WOBBLE BEFORE I COULD STOP. I EVENTUALLY STOP AND WAS SURPRISE TO SEE THE RIM SPLIT IN THE SEAM AND THE TIRE TOTAL. THE SECOND TIME I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WAS JUNE 21,2014,I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AGAIN AND FELL MY CAR WOBBLING AGAIN ,THIS TIME IT WAS MY REAR TIRE ,AND WAS SURPRISE AGAIN TO SEE THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SPLIT ALL AROUND IN THE SEAM AGAIN . MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND TOYOTA SHOULD REPLACE ALL FOUR. FOR NOW MY SCION IS PARK, BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THIS PROBLEM. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND. THE TYPES OF TIRES COME WITH MY SCION IS MICHELIN PRIMACY HP TIRES AND I CAN ATTEST THAT THEY ARE NOT SAFE TO USED ON A CAR. I CAN PROVIDE PICTURES OF THE TIRES. *TR
PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR IS TOO SENSITIVE. PLACING A WEIGHT SUCH AS A MOBILE PHONE ACTIVATES THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS. IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS TO A PASSENGER OR CAUSE ADDITIONAL UNNECESSARY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE IS FACTORY INCLUDING THE SEATS, ELECTRONICS, AND AIRBAGS. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. IF THE ENGINEER IS IN, THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT. ACCIDENTALLY DEPLOYED AIRBAGS MAY CAUSE INJURY IT DEATH.
MY NEW CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FOR THE PAST MONTH (4 TIMES). THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND THE DEALER DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THE CAR DOES NOT ALSO SEEM TO BE ABLE TO HOLD AN IDLE SPEED. WHEN MY FOOT HAS THE CLUTCH COMPLETELY DEPRESSED AND MY OTHER FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE IDLE JUST GOES FROM 500 TO 1000 AND BACK DOWN TO 500 AND THE CAR SHUDDERS AND ALMOST STALLS. THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHER SCION OWNERS OF THIS NEW CAR THAT ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE (THERE ARE INTERNET POST ON WEB FORUMS DATING BACK TO JUNE 2012) AND TOYOTA/SCION DOES NOT ACT LIKE THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AT ALL.
