WE QUESTION WHY NONE OF THE 4 AIRBAGS (2 SIDES, DRIVER OR PASSENGER) DEPLOYED IN A CRASH THAT HAD THE 2010 SCION XB AIRBORNE. AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED RESTING UPRIGHT ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE INJURIES WERE PREDOMINANTLY SEATBELT BRUISES AND A FRACTURED KNEECAP. THE MULTIPLE IMPACTS DURING ROLLING MAY HAVE BEEN TOO LOW TO INITIATE AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT OR IT COULD INDICATE A PROBLEM. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE RESPONSE WAS APPROPRIATE? THE CAR WILL LIKELY BE TOTALED BY STATE FARM. IS THERE (OR SHOULD THERE BE) ANY "TRIGGER" THAT CAUSES RECORDS TO BE KEPT ON LEVELS OF DAMAGE AND WHETHER AIRBAGS ACTUALLY DEPLOYED? *TR
2010 SCION XB-THE STEERING WILL SOMETIMES FEEL AS IF IT JUST GIVES OUT. IT ONLY HAPPENS FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS-BUT WHEN IT DOES IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING. I HAVE FELT IT HAPPEN TWICE NOW-THE FIRST TIME I WAS ON A RAMP AND IT FELT AS IF THE CAR WAS GOING TO GO STRAIGHT OFF THE RAMP--BUT IT KEPT CURVING AS IT SHOULD-THEN CONTROL OF THE STEERING WAS RESTORED AND I WAS FINE. *TR
MY SCION XB DEVELOPED AN L-SHAPED CRACK IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSENGER SIDE (BELOW THE WIPERS), GOING UP AND TO THE LEFT TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE. THE CRACK IS ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG AND IT SUDDENLY APPEARED WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE ONE MORNING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA SCION XB. THE CONTACT STATED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER ADVISED HE WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE FAILURE AND WAS UNABLE TO OFFER A REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 1,100. UPDATED 06/21/10 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE BACK GROUND OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE BLACK AND THE POINTERS AND NUMBERS WERE RED. IN DULL LIGHT AND AT NIGHT, WITH THE PANEL LIGHTS ON, EVERYTHING WAS VISIBLE. HOWEVER, AS DAY LIGHT BECAME BRIGHTER, THE ABILITY TO READ THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME DIFFICULT. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM IS NOT ELECTRICAL, HOWEVER THIS IS THE CLOSEST COMPONENT WE HAVE TO DESCRIBE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I ALSO CHOSE STRUCTURE AS A COMPONENT AS WELL, AS IT MAY JUST BE A DESIGN ISSUE. UPDATED 06/24/10. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA SCION XB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FELT VERY LOOSE AND THAT THE ROTORS OVER HEATED AT 5,000 MILES. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED IT FORCED THE CONTACT TO INCREASE THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER RESURFACED THE ROTORS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE ROTORS CONTINUED TO OVERHEAT AND THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,812.
