CAR RAN OUT OF OIL. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT, UNTIL CAR DIED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THEN LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD BEEN MOSTLY KEEPING UP WITH MY OIL CHANGES, AND WAS ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES OVER RECOMMENDED LIMITS. ENGINE SEIZED AND HAD TO BE TOWED. MY MECHANIC TRIED TO REBUILD IT, BUT WAS UNABLE TO. HE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH A USED ENGINE, AT A COST OF $6,000, AND SIX WEEKS OF A RENTAL CAR. I REACHED OUT TO SUBARU FOR HELP, BUT THEY WOULD DO NOTHING UNLESS MY CAR WAS IN THEIR SHOP, AT WHICH POINT THEY MAY BE ABLE TO PAY FOR A PORTION OF IT. THEY ASKED IF I HAD BEEN GETTING MY MAINTENANCE DONE AT THEIR SHOP, AND I HADN'T BECAUSE THEY WANT $1500 FOR EVERY 20,000 MILE SERVICE WORK DONE, OR WHATEVER, WHICH I CAN'T AFFORD. SO I ASSUMED AT THAT POINT IT WOULD BE POINTLESS, AND MORE COSTLY, TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED THERE AND THEN HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE, OR HAVE THEM TRY TO SELL ME A NEW CAR. I WILL NEVER BUY A SUBARU AGAIN AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE EVER GET ONE. I GOOGLED INCIDENCE OF REPAIR AND FOUND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHERS, AND SCADS OF LAWSUITS AGAINST SUBARU FOR THIS. I TRIED TO JOIN A CLASS ACTION, BUT HAVE HEARD NOTHING. TO MY MIND, A CAR ENGINE SHOULD NOT RUN OUT OF OIL AND SEIZE AFTER ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES OVER THE LIMIT. THERE HAVE BEEN NO OIL LEAKS IN MY GARAGE OR UNDER MY CAR.
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN NORTH ON I 83 WHEN THE CAR (SUBARU FORESTER 2009) STARTED SWAYING BETWEEN TWO LANES. I COULDN'T CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL TO STOP THE SWAYING UNTIL THE CAR SPEED LOWERED CONSIDERABLY. OTHER CARS ALONG SIDE AND BEHIND MY CAR TOOK EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID HITTING MY CAR. I DROVE THE CAR HOME SAFELY AFTER I WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CAR EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS EXAMINED BY A COLLISION CENTER AND THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE DIRECT CAUSE OF THE INCIDENCE. THE COLLISION CENTER SUGGESTED REALIGNMENT AND ROTATION OF THE WHEELS. THEY ALSO RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF A BUSHING AT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM. THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE CAR DIDN'T AGREE THAT THE BUSHING REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE AUTO. *TR
SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE WITH NORMAL BRAKE DEPRESSION; VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED TO 20 MPH, NO BRAKES AND THE DASH CONTROL CENTER COMPLETELY LIT UP. THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE WAS BY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AND ENGAGING THE PARKING BRAKE. I THEN TRIED THE SAME PROCEDURE IN FORWARD WITH THE SAME RESULTS EXCEPT THIS TIME RESULTING WITH THE CAR COLLIDING WITH THE GARAGE WALL CAUSING APPROXIMATELY $6000.00 WORTH OF DAMAGE BETWEEN THE CAR AND HOUSE. *TR
REGARDING: SUBARU RECALL CAMPAIGN WQK-47 / NHTSA RECALL NO. 14V-311 / JULY 2014. THE REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL IS INSPECTION AND TESTING OF THE BRAKE LINES. IF THERE IS NO ACTIVE BRAKE FLUID LEAK AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION, THE LINES/CONNECTIONS WILL BE SPRAYED WITH ANTI-CORROSION MATERIAL. IT IS VERY CLEAR IN THE DOCUMENTS THAT REPLACEMENT WILL NOT BE DONE UNDER ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH RUST/CORROSION IS ALREADY PRESENT IN THE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM. I FIND THIS ABSOLUTELY APPALLING, AND AN EXTREME DANGER TO UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS OF THESE VEHICLES. THESE BRAKE LINES COULD BE ONE DAY AWAY FROM LEAKING, BUT IF THEY ARE NOT LEAKING AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION, THEY WILL NOT BE REPLACED. THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE PROTECTED FROM DAMAGE THAT HAS ALREADY OCCURRED TO THE BRAKE LINES IN THE FORM OF OBVIOUS CORROSION. THIS REMEDY DOES NOT FIX ANYTHING IF RUSTED/CORRODED PARTS ARE GOING TO BE LEFT IN PLACE, WITH MOST OWNERS COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE HIDDEN DANGER. I WOULD LIKE FEEDBACK FROM THE GOVERNMENT REGARDING THIS SERIOUS CONCERN. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN RAINY WEATHER, VEHICLE BEGAN TO MISFIRE AND LOST POWER, FORCING DRIVER INTO AN UNSAFE SITUATION OF COAXING CAR TO SHOULDER. CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON, AND CRUISE LIGHT FLASHED. AFTER SHUTTING ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING, SAME LIGHTS REMAINED ON BUT ENGINE RAN NORMALLY. WE HAVE ALSO ANOTHER 2009 FORESTER WHICH EXPERIENCES MISFIRES, SAME LIGHTS, AFTER STARTING COLD ON A RAINY DAY. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES FROM SUBARU ON OTHER LESS CRITICAL TOPICS, THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AN INCLINATION ON THEIR PART TO ADDRESS THIS ENGINE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DISASTER. OUR ONLINE RESEARCHES SUGGEST THAT MANY OTHER SUBARU OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR MALFUNCTIONS, AND WE DON'T DETECT ANY SERIOUS EFFORT BY THE MANUFACTURER TO FIX THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND AS A RESULT THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A GARAGE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V311000 (BRAKES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
HI - I OWN A 2009 FORESTER 56K MY WINDSHIELD HAS A VERY BIG CRACK BECAUSE OF A PEBBLE FROM A TRUCK. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I ALWAYS BELIEVED THIS CAR HAD THIN GLASS EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT IS SAFETY GLASS. I ALSO OWN A HONDA AND IT HAS THICK GLASS AND THERE IS NO HOLES IN THE WINDSHIELD FROM PEBBLES. HAVE YOU HAD OTHER COMPLAINTS BECAUSE I AM COMPLAINING! *TR
THEIR WAS A CLUNK AND DRIVER CAR PULLED OVER AND OFF HIGHWAY . HAD IT TOWED TO OUR INDEPENDENT GARAGE. THE ENGINE FAILED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER WENT ON NOR DID THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT GO ON. *TR
THE BRAKE LINE AND BRAKE CALIPER RUSTED, CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AND CHECKED REGULARLY, WHILE DRIVING WE LOST REAR BRAKES, ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, SPENT AT LEAST 900.00 IN REPAIR, SUBARU REFUSED TO REFUND MONEY, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR BRAKES LINES.PLEASE HELP.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE, NOTICED SIDE LIGHTS WERE ON, CAR WAS NOT ON. AFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE NOTICED A SMELL OF BURNED PLASTIC. TRIED MULTIPLE WAYS TO SHUT OFF THE SIDE LIGHTS, COULDN'T DO IT. FINALLY TRACED THE SMELL OF THE BURNING PLASTIC TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, BY THE LIFT GATE, BY THE SPARE TIRE. THE ELECTRICAL CABLE THAT CONNECTS THE VEHICLE TO THE TRAILER HITCH WIRING HARNESS WAS BURNING AND SMOKING. DISCONNECTED IT AND THE POWER FAILURE STOPPED, BY THEN THE WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED AND WIRES BURNT. TOOK PHOTOS OF THE WIRING TO SHOW IT, PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WITH THE CONDENSATION IN THE AREA AND MOISTURE CAUSED A SHORT IN THE HARNESS. WITHOUT INTERVENING CAR COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNT DOWN. *TR
CAR HAS BEEN GOING THROUGH OIL SINCE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL WAS DONE IN FALL OF 2013. FIRST NOTICED AROUND FEBRUARY OF 2014 WHEN OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND NO OIL IN ENGINE. I COMPLAINED TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. I KEPT COMPLAINING ON MY OIL CHANGE OR OTHER APPOINTMENTS BUT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE CAR WAS GOING THROUGH 2-3 COURTS EVERY 2-3 MONTHS, WITH "BURN" TIME GETTING CLOSER TOGETHER - EVENTUALLY CHECKED OIL EVERY 3 WEEKS BY SUMMER AND EVERY WEEK BY OCTOBER. WHEN THE CAR WOULD NOT RUN I EVENTUALLY BYPASSED THE DEALER AFTER NO SOLUTION AND COMPLAINED TO SUBARU. I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME FINDING A DEALER WILLING TO TAKE THE CAR (SO DID SUBARU). FEELING IT WAS A DEALER WORKMANSHIP ISSUE I PAID FOR THE WORK AND SUBARU REIMBURSED ME TO REPLACED THE HEAD GASKETS IN DECEMBER 2014 - STATING IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTTEE SO THAT IS HOW IT HAS TO BE DONE. THE OTHER DAY (FEBRUARY 6, 2015) ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND NO OIL WAS IN THE ENGINE - THIS IS 2 MONTHS AFTER WORK DONE. THIS CAR HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE THE BEGINNING AND I FEEL AS A FIRST YEAR REDESIGNED MODEL IT IS A SUBARU DEFECT. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES 3 TIMES IN A SHORT SPAN - FEW YEARS (3 MAYBE). IT HAS NEVER HAD GOOD PICK-UP AND SINCE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL WAS DONE THE GAS MILEAGE DROPPED - WAS 22/28 NOW 19/23. THE DEALER WHO REPLACED HEAD GASKETS MADE A NOTATION ON MY BILL (WITHOUT TELLING ME DIRECTLY) THAT THE SWAY BARS NEED ATTENTION. MY BROTHER HAS A 2007 FORESTER AND HAS HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THESE ITEMS AS WELL WITHIN THE LAST FEW YEARS. I NEEDS A RELIABLE VEHICLE TO EARN A LIVING. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD BANG AS THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
UPON RETURNING FROM A SHORT DRIVE WE PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I ASSUMED THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLY SOME TYPE OF OVERHEATING ISSUE, BUT UPON INSPECTION I DISCOVERED IT WAS ENGINE OIL DRIPPING ONTO THE EXHAUST HEAT SHIELDS AND WAS BURNING OFF. I WAS STUNNED BY THIS AS I AM VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP A FEW DAYS LATER AS IT WAS GOING IN ANYWAY FOR A RECALLED CAT CONVERTER. THEY THEN ADVISED ME THAT THE ENGINE HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THIS NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY AS THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD IF NOT REPAIRED. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 73,000 MILES AND I AM NOW FACED WITH AM ALMOST $2000.00 REPAIR. I AM SPEECHLESS AND BESIDE MYSELF AS I BOUGHT THIS CAR SPECIFICALLY TO GET A QUALITY VEHICLE THAT IDEALLY WOULD AVOID ISSUES OF THIS NATURE. I AM PURSUING A COMPLAINT WITH SUBARU OF AMERICA AND WANTED THE NHTSA TO BE AWARE AS WELL. THANK YOU. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUFFER ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING OVER BUMPS AND POT HOLES, I HEARD A SOUND COMING FROM THE CARS SUSPENSION. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED YOU DRIVE YOU HEAR IT ANYWAYS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE A DATE THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THERE ARE NO FAILURES AT THIS TIME. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
DRIVER SEAT FAILED/COLLAPSED ON LEFT SIDE WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, I WEIGH 165 POUND WITH MY CLOTHES ON! *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND STAYED ON. THAT MEANT SOMETHING WAS AMISS WITH THE EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM, PROBABLY A LOOSE GAS CAP. I CHECKED THE CAP, TOOK IT OFF AND RETIGHTENED IT UNTIL I HEARD THE PROPER CLICKING SOUND. THE LIGHT REMAINED ON THE REST OF THE TRIP HOME. TWICE MORE BEFORE SERVICING, I REPEATED THE PROCESS OF CHECKING THE CAP. BOTH TIMES I HEARD THE CLICKING SOUND. THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. I HAD THE PROBLEM LOOKED AT BY A SUBARU DEALER. AFTER 2 HOURS THEY TOLD ME I WAS EITHER OVERFILLING THE TANK - I NEVER TOP OFF - OR NOT PUTTING THE CAP ON PROPERLY. I TOLD THEM I KNOW HOW TO PUT A GAS CAP ON, EXPLAINED HOW I DO IT, AND IF THERE IS A BETTER WAY, PLEASE SHOW ME. THEY ONLY REPEATED THAT IT MUST BE ME BECAUSE THE CAP WAS LOOSE ENOUGH TO BE LEAKING GAS. DESPITE MY INSISTING THAT SOMETHING ELSE WAS WRONG, THEY SAID BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I WILL REPEAT THAT THE GAS CAP WAS PUT ON AS PROPERLY AS IT CAN BE DONE. THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON HERE AND IT IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. I REPLACED THE OLD CAP WITH A NEW ONE AND HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM. *TR
COMPASS DISPLAY IN REAR VIEW MIRROR WENT OUT, NO LONGER DISPLAYS DIRECTION. MY FRIEND HAS THE SAME VEHICLE AND HIS WENT OUT ALSO. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE BECAUSE IT HELPS TELL THE DRIVER WHAT DIRECTION HE'S TRAVELING WHEN TRAVELING IN UNFAMILIAR PLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD-SIDE OIL SUPPLY PIPE WAS LEAKING OIL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V460000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS. I AM OF AVERAGE HEIGHT AND WEIGHT. UPON ENTERING MY VEHICLE AT A PARKING LOT ONE NIGHT, THE SEAT BOTTOM COLLAPSED AND FELL TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME, BUT WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TRYING TO REMAIN POSITIONED PROPERLY IN THE SEAT. CLOSER EXAMINATION OF THE SITUATION PERFORMED THE NEXT MORNING REVEALED A PORTION OF THE SEAT FRAME WAS BROKEN. LOU FUSZ SUBARU IN CREVE COEUR, MO CONFIRMED THE BROKEN FRAME AND TRACED TO FAILURE OF A SPOT WELD. THEY WANTED $1,000. TO REPLACE THE SEAT BOTTOM PORTION OF THE SEAT. ALL THE CONTROLS ARE STILL FUNCTIONAL, ALBEIT NOT FLAWLESSLY DUE TO MISALIGNMENT OF THE STRUCTURE. WHEN ASKED IF THE FRAME COULD BE WELDED THE SERVICE ADVISER SAID THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE TO ASSESS UNLESS WE AGREED TO PAY FOR SEVERAL HOURS LABOR TO DISSEMBLE THE SEAT SO THE WELDER COULD INSPECT THE FRAME DESPITE THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN BEING ABLE TO SEE AND DIAGNOSE THE DAMAGE WITHOUT DIS-ASSEMBLY. WE HAVE ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISER TO CONTACT THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE TO RESOLVE WHAT WE BELIEVE IS A SAFETY SITUATION. WE BELIEVE THE SEAT FAILURE DIRECTLY AFFECTS OUR ABILITY TO MAINTAIN THE REQUIRED LEVEL OF COMFORTABLE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE - ESPECIALLY IF ANOTHER PORTION OF THE SEAT STRUCTURE FAILS. INDEPENDENT RESEARCH ON THE SUBARU OWNERS WEBSITE HAS REVEALED THAT OURS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. SIMILAR FAILURES, AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME MILEAGE POINT, LEAD US TO QUESTION IF THERE WAS A FAULT IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF THE STEEL SEAT FRAME. *TR
WE ARE 15,000 MILES INTO 4 NEW (APRIL 2012 PURCHASED, MOUNTED MAY 2012) P225/55ZR -17 PIRELLI P6 ALL-ROAD 2007 PRODUCTION TIRES. I HAVE HAD THE TIRES INSPECTED AND BALANCED AT REGULAR SERVICE INTERVALS AND ON THIS OCCASION (FEB2013) WAS ASKED HOW OLD MY TIRES WERE BECAUSE THEY WERE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AND WOULD LIKELY RESULT IN A TICKET BY GERMAN POLICE IF STOPPED. I AM 195 LBS AND BEGAN ENTERING THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE AND SAT DOWN ON THE DRIVERS SEAT AND HEARD A SOUND FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE LEFT FRONT SIDE OF THE SEAT. FELT THAT THE SEAT WAS LOWER THAN THE RIGHT SIDE AS WELL. INSPECTED TO FIND THAT THE FRONT LEFT BRACKET THAT SUPPORTS THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT HAD BROKEN. IT APPEARS THAT TWO VERY SMALL WELDS HOLD THE BRACKET TO THE SEAT AND BOTH HAD BROKEN AND ARE UNABLE TO SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORT THE SEAT. IN A 2009 SUBARU FORESTER WHILE IN A SMALL PARKING LOT, AFTER BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE AND PREPARING TO MOVE FORWARD, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, SHOT ACROSS THE LOT AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED CAR WHICH WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND DEEMED TOTALED. THE OWNER (DRIVER) DROVE THE FORESTER ONLY ONE TIME SINCE THE ACCIDENT AND WOULD NOT CONTINUE TO USE IT FOR FEAR OF A REPETITION OF WHAT APPEARED TO HIM TO BE A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE SPEED CONTROL. MY LOCAL GARAGE REPAIRED MY CAR, I RECEIVED 4 NEW SPARK PLUGS, AND AN AIR FILTER. 9 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AS WELL AS THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT, AND THE VEHICLE DYNAMICS WARNING LIGHT, AGAIN IT WAS REPAIRED, THIS HAD TO DO WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MESSAGE, BUT ALL MY LOCAL GARAGE COULD FIND WAS A SMALL LEAK NEAR THE MANIFOLD THAT THEY REPAIRED. 2 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN, I NOW CALLED MY SUBARU DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED A FAULTY CATALYST CONVERTER, AND AF SENSOR, THE ALSO CHANGED MY OIL, AS IT WAS DUE, AND SUGGESTED I HAVE A TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH AND REFILL, AND THAT MY REAR AND FRONT DIFFERENTIALS, NEEDED A DRAIN AND REFILL. 5 DAYS PASSED ANOTHER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THIS TIME IT WAS FLASHING, I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED, THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THE WRONG SPARK PLUGS WERE PUT IN INITIALLY, AND REPLACED THEM WITH PLATINUM TIP SPARK PLUGS THAT MY MODEL TAKES. 4 DAYS PASSED ANOTHER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WITH BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, I WAS GOING UP HILL, SO I CONTINUED ON, TO REACH A PARKING LOT, I COULD STOP IN BUT SUDDENLY, IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING UNBLOCKED, THIS MADE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GO AWAY, UNTIL 2 DAYS LATER, ANOTHER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, I ONCE AGAIN BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT THE CATALYST CONVERTER, BUT SAID IT WAS 'TOO SOON" SO THEY LEFT THE WORK ORDER OPEN , IN CASE IT OCCURRED AGAIN,AND GAVE ME THIS LECTURE ABOUT THE GRADE OF GAS I AM BUYING. 4 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED, THIS TIME SUBARU DISCOVERED THE MY OTHER O2 SENSOR WAS FAULTY, AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT, WHEN THE PART COMES IN. *TR

MY PROBLEM IS WITH MY 2009 SUBARU FORESTER, PURCHASED NEW. THERE IS SOME SORT OF RESIDUE THAT FORMS ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEN WE USE THE DEFROSTER (WHICH WE USE A LOT DUE TO MONTANA WINTERS). IT CANNOT BE CLEANED OFF. WE'VE USED MULTIPLE PRODUCTS TO ATTEMPT TO REMOVE IT, AND NOT MATTER WHAT, THE RESULT IS A GREASY FILM THAT REFLECTS LIGHT INTO OUR EYES AT NIGHT, OR UNCLEANED, OBSCURES OUR VISION. IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING IN THE HEATING SYSTEM BECAUSE THIS IS OUR SECOND WINDSHIELD, AND BOTH WERE AFFECTED. INITIALLY, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS NEW CAR OUTGASSING, THEN THEY SAID THAT "ALL OF THEM DO IT". IT'S BECOME AN ISSUE, AS WE DRIVE 70 HIGHWAY MILES A DAY TO AND FROM WORK, IN ALL CONDITIONS IN MONTANA. WE ALSO KNOW THAT IT ISN'T NEW CAR OUTGASSING BECAUSE WE'VE HAD THE CAR FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS AND APPROX 45, 000 MILES. THE CAR WAS DRIVING NORMALLY AND NO INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON TO ALERT ME THAT MY ENGINE WOULD SEIZE. I WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I PULLED OVER ONLY BECAUSE I HEARD AN UNUSUAL NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. HAD I NOT PULLED OVER, I WOULD HAVE BROKEN DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. SUBARU HAS HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME CAR WITH THE TURBO ENGINE. THEY DISREGARD THIS FACT WHEN I BRING IT UP AS MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE TURBO OPTION. HOWEVER, IT DOES HAVE THE SAME ENGINE. I SEARCHED ON LINE AND IT APPEARS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY SUBARU FORESTER OWNER WITH THIS COMPLAINT.
