1) OIL CONSUMPTION. My 2015 Subaru was purchased used in 2017 with approx 56k on engine. From the first oil change I had done one month later the car’s computer would say that the oil level was low. I would check the dip and it would be at least a quart low. From that point on the car would burn oil that I would keep the 5 gallon oil container in my car. 2) My Subaru is and has been driven consistently until one week I did not use it for a few days not more than 3. The battery completely drained water and all. Filled the battery with appropriate water and trickle charged it for about 5 days. I then was able to jump start the car just to drive to the auto parts store to buy a new one. Noticed the signal lights would not work but the car was driving fine. I thought it may be a fuse so I pulled the proper fuse out and replaced it with the proper fuse. I started the car and every single light on the dash board lit up. Oil temp, check engine light, the up hill etc. I drove the car back home from the auto parts store and it was jerking, revving, stumbling all over the place. Nearly drove into the car in front of me and just about made it home without it stalling. I was scheduled to have two recalls fixed but I had to have my insurance company tow it to the dealer. They said it could be a number of things. I paid them 149 to do a diagnostics check but said they needed an additional 500 to do a thorough check and it would not go towards any fix of any issue. He printed me a list of items that needed to be done but none would fix that issue. He said maybe the wire harness but not sure. I was just basically screwed. So I have a 2015 Subaru Forester that I have no idea what is wrong with the engine. 3) seat belt warning on the passenger side will not stop alerting to fasten seat belts even though no one is in the seat. I have to keep it buckled at all times. I have notified the dealer the day the recalls were done but he said he didn’t know why it was doing that.
This 2015 Subaru accelerates without warning and without gas pedal input. The issue arose about a month ago (July 2021) and has persisted ever since. The vehicle will rev while in park and once put into drive will jolt aggressively and without warning. Additionally, the vehicle will enter low-power mode at random and decelerate to 15-20mph. This has caused multiple hazards when driving on highways/interstates where pulling over is difficult or impossible.
The contact's wife owns a 2015 Subaru Forester. The contact stated while reversing into the driveway, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated he depressed the brake pedal all the way to the floorboard and he pulled up the parking brake to stop the vehicle from crashing into the wall. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,002.
July 31, 2021I noted an approximately 6-inch unprovoked crack originating at the outer edge in the windshield on the passenger side. The beginning of September I went to Subaru City, Milwaukee, WI and pictures were taken by the assistant manager, Eric and sent to Subaru. I returned November 23rd after no follow up to find out "more pictures were needed" per the assistant manager. Again, no follow up so I returned January 19th, and had yet more pictures taken by another employee, [XXX] because they couldn't locate them. I received a call back the next day to confirm submission. After no response to about 10 phone calls to the assistant service manager again, I returned March 7th and was told by another employee, [XXX], there was a new database and couldn't find the pictures. Then was called back and told not under warranty despite requesting repair due to industry defect in the windshields with eyesight. The crack has extended to about 12" from the driver's side edge. I'm concerned about the integrity of the windshield should there be an impact and the eyesight isn't reliable with this crack. At about 101,000 miles I took the car in to the dealership where I bought it for another issue. When the tech got it up on his lift he came in and notified the service manager that there was bubbles on my brake line. The service manager came to us and she said “I really shouldn’t let you drive out of here with those bubbles because I would be an unsafe condition”, the implication was that if they burst I would have no brakes. The road salt on the roads in the winter in Vermont was indicated as the cause of the problem. They installed all new brake lines behind the cabin. I had asked them to save a section of the brake lines showing the bubbles and that DID NOT happen. I do much of my own maintenance and to have steel brake lines bubble it’s hard to understand. Maybe the hose between the end of the steel brake line and the wheel could bubble but having the brake line bubble is nightmarish.The safety concern is if other Subarus in salty climates have that problem and the owner is not aware of it, the brakes are liable to fail. Scary. As to the engine, since the car was a new, putting pressure on the accelerator caused the car to lurch, Irritating and dangerous in tight settings. Notified the dealership on the day we got it and when mentioned, nothing could be done for the 5 years since it was new.
Airbag warning light comes on when passenger is in seat. Information panel indicates that the passenger airbag is deactivated. This issue appears the same as NHTSA 19V701, but the VIN for my car does not appear to be included. When this occurs it is necessary for the passenger to move to the back seat. Currently this issue only happens occasionally. An appointment for the car has been made on Aug. 9 and a call has been made to Subaru of America.
Key will not remove from ignition when put in park. Happens about 40-60% of the time and must shift several times in and out of park to get key out of ignition. This is a known faulty part with several models (see Subaru Service Bulletin 16-112-18R) yet Subaru has not issued a recall. Replacement of known faulty part is at customer's expense. Safety issue - unable to exit car upon parking.
The contact owns a 2015 Subaru Forester. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle accelerated at high speed and stability, the traction control, the check engine, and the cruise control warning light illuminated, and the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but no failure was found. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the transmission module was updated, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the throttle pedal assembly was replaced multiple times, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 73,600.
PREMATURE WHEEL BEARING FAILURE, SUBARU ALREADY HAS A SERVICE BULETIN (#05-70-19 ANNOUNCED ON SEPT 30, 2019) RECOMENDING INSTALLING REVISED BRAKE BACKING PLATES DUE TO FACTORY INSTALLED NON-FLAT BACKING PLATES WHICH DISTORT THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS/HUBS CAUSING PREMATURE WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED OCCURANCE NOTED ON NATIONAL SUBARU WEB PORTALS FOR MULTIPLE MODELS WITH POSSIBLE CATASTROPHIC OUTCOMES.
Passenger seat airbag is disabled even when there is a passenger present. The passenger seat occupant sensor system appears to be faulty. Check airbag system warning light comes on even if the passenger seat is occupied. The problem is persistent.
The 2015 Subaru Forester accelerated unexpectedly while slowly turning into a a Walgreens parking lot. The acceleration could not be stopped by stepping on the brake, and the car crashed into the brick building. The vehicle is at Phil's Auto Body Shop in Rosemount, MN. The estimate on the car is complete, and waiting on State Farm insurance to approve. The police were at the scene of the accident. Walgreens has video of the accident from their security cameras.
AUTO ACCELERATED UNEXPECTEDLY AFTER LEAVING CAR WASH BAY. AUTO SPED THROUGH PARKING LOT INTO STREET AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER AUTO TRAVELING ON A ROAD.
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65MPH, WHEN WITH NO WARNING MY CAR'S ENGINE STOP. I TOUGH IT WAS OUT OF GAS, BUT THE COMPUTER WAS TELLING ME I HAD 30 MORE MILES OF FUEL. AT THE TIME OF THIS ACCIDENT THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PARK BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION ON THE FREEWAY. THIS UNFORTUNATE EVENT CAUSE 3 OTHER CARS TO BE INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. SOME HOW MY CAR WAS OK, I DROVE THE CAR BACK TO MY HOUSE PRAYING THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. MY HUSBAND DROVE IT FOR A LITTLE TO SEE IF IT WILL BE OK TO DRIVE. SAME THING HAPPEN TO HEM, BUT THIS WAS IN A MUCH CONTROLLED WAY.
Merging onto a a 70mph highway and vehicle stopped accelerating around 45 mph. RMPs kept increasing, black smoke-type substance was coming out of the exhaust pipes when I tried to accelerate. No lights, warning noises, or any other indication of anything wrong with the car. Vehicle kept lurching and rev'ing but no acceleration.
I HAVE HAD A SUDDEN BATTERY DRAIN. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR. THE CAR HAD BEEN STATIONARY FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME DURING THE PANDEMIC.
CAR BURNS OIL. NO LEAKS AND OIL LIGHT COMES ON EVERY 2,000-3,000 MILES WHEN IT SHOULDN'T BE CHANGED BUT EVERY 5000. AC MAKES HORRIBLE NOISE AND INTERMITTENTLY WORKS BUT HARDLY EVER. WILL RUN FOR A COUPLE MIN THEN NOT WORK THE REST OF THE DRIVE TIME
WHILE TAKING GROCERIES OUT OF BACK SEAT, I FOUND A 14MM SHINY NUT ON BACK FLOOR, LEFT BACK SIDE OF FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. IT FELL OFF THE BOLT HOLDING THE FRONT PASSENGER SAFETY BELT RETAINER (PART YOU CLICK BUCKLE INTO). AFTER PUTTING IT BACK ON, AND TORQUING THE HECK OUT OF IT, I FOUND THAT THE TWO BOLTS HOLDING FRONT PASSENGER SEAT DOWN, WERE LOOSE AND STANDING ABOUT 0.75" ABOVE BRACKET SURFACE. I ALSO TORQUED THOSE DOWN TO AVOID SEAT BECOMING LOOSE. I THEN CHECKED ALL OTHER BOLTS FOR FRONT SEATS AND FOUND NO PROBLEM. WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE HAD THE SEAT BELT NUT FALL WHERE IT DID, OR MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT.
SUDDENLY IT STARTED TO ACCURATE AND THE OTHER WAS ALL IN BORD CONTROL SYSTEM DEFAULT ARE LIGHTING UP
There have been numerous instances of the battery being drained when nothing was left on or running. This has happened on at least four different occasions, with two of these leading to a need for calling for assistance. I am unsure of the cause of this problem.
Fuel gauge sending unit not functioning causing car to over report remaining gas mileage. Car runs out of gas though gas gauge still reports roughly 20% tank capacity remaining and ~60 miles or range left. This has happened to me multiple times,racing me stranded on highways at least 6 times.
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY SHATTERED. NOBODY WAS NEARBY, NO ROCKS, CAR WAS JUST LEAVING GAS STATION ON SURFACE STREET, TURNING LEFT TO ENTER FREEWAY IN A QUARTER MILE WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO EXPLANATION. TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH.
THE BATTERY DRAINS OFTEN AND QUICKLY. IT HAPPENS LONG BEFORE THE WARRANTY IS UP ON THE BATTERY. THIS INTERRUPTS KEY SYSTEMS AND MAKE IT UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. EVEN CHARGING THE BATTERY DOES NOT HELP. IT HAS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE GONE THROUGH THREE BATTERIES IN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. EACH TIME I HAVE TO HAVE A MECHANIC RESET ALL SYSTEMS.
RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT SAYING TO CHECK POWER STEERING. NOTHING TO CHECK ON ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. LIGHT WENT OFF BY SWITCHING IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON. INTERNET SEARCH FOUND FAILURES WHILE DRIVING ON THE EPS SYSTEM, SO I TOOK CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. A CODE HAD BEEN STORED THAT LEAD TO A DIAGNOSIS OF BAD EPS GEARBOX. REPAIR NECESSITATED REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE STEERING RACK. NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR OBVIOUS SAFETY REASONS - LOSS OF STEERING!
FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONING, IT TAKES COUPLE MINUTES BEFORE IT GOES UP AFTER FULL TANK. SOMETIMES IT'S HARD TO CRANK AFTER YOU TURN THE KEY. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL SCARY. ALSO LEFT SIDE DRIVER WINDOW MALFUNCTIONING, THE AUTO DOWN NOT WORKING AND WHEN YOUR PRESS UP THE WINDOW GOES UP 2 INCHES AT A TIME TAKES AWHILE TO GO UP.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE SEATBACK EMITTED A LOUD "BANG" SOUND. IT THEN LOST ALL SUPPORT AND STRUCTURE, FORCING ME TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAINTAIN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE I WAS NOT ADJUSTING ANY ELEMENT OF THE SEATBACK -- I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO SET IT ONCE WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AND HASN'T TOUCHED THE ADJUSTMENTS SINCE THEN. I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THAT THE SEAT FRAME BROKE INTERNALLY AND THE ENTIRE SEAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS PURE LUCK THAT IT OCCURRED AT A MOMENT WHERE I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DESPITE SUDDENLY FALLING BACKWARDS.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 7AM, AND I HAD STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HEAR THE SOUND OF GLASS CRACK AND OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE, I SEE A HUGE CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. IT JUST CONTINUED TO SPREAD THE REST OF THE DRIVE HOME. HAD TO GET IT REPLACED, OEM QUOTED ME OVER $800 AND EVEN MORE IF I HAD THE EYESIGHT OPTION.
I have the airbag sensor heated passenger seat problem and for some reason, my vin is not listed in the recall for this problem. I have had this problem for over a year and thought it was from the clock spring, a costly repair I had just done. Clock spring repair fixed my horn not working problem but not my passenger airbag not working problem. Subaru dealer cost estimate is nearly $1500 for what should be covered in the recall. I am requesting Subaru fix this problem at no charge since it is a listed problem addressed in a recall for a 2015 Forester with heated seats. Thank You.
AFTER 4HRS OF DRIVING WITH 2 PIT STOPS IN BETWEEN, I WAS IN 3 LANE TRAFFIC AND DOWN TO 1 BAR ON FUEL GAUGE STATING I HAD 50MI LEFT OF DRIVING REMAINING IN TANK.. LOW FUEL LIGHT HADN'T EVEN TURNED ON YET, ONLY TO FIND THAT THE CAR HAD LOST POWER AND REDUCED SPEED AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE WHEN I USED HAS PEDAL. HOWEVER THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND POWER WINDOWS STILL WORKED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND NOTHING TO BE OUT OF SORTS. NO DASH LIGHTS WENT OFF EITHER SUCH AS BATTERY OR CHECK ENGINE. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP IN 5MINS AND FUELED MY CAR UP. ALSO, DURING THE TRIP MY FUEL MILEAGE WAS CONSISTENTLY GOING DOWN WHICH THE LOWEST READING DAYS 17MPG WHEN NORMALLY 30MPG. THIS HAPPENED THE DAY AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE IN FOR NEW TIRES AT A CORPORATE TIRE COMPANY. 2 WEEKS LATER CAR HAVING TROUBLES STARTING. BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED OUT GOOD, SO SUSPECTED FUEL PUMP. CAR DEALERSHIP STATES FUEL FILTER INSIDE THE PUMP AND EVEN IF THERE WAS A WAY TO TEST THE PRESSURE IT MAY NOT BE ACCURATE BECAUSE IT COULD BE INTERMITTENT FAILURE AND DOESN'T RECOMMEND ME REPLACING IT. THEY WANTED ME TO WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN BEFORE LOOKING INTO IT ANY FURTHER. THEY CHECKED FOR DTC CODES AND FOUND NONE. ALSO SUGGESTED I JUST UPGRADE TO A NEWER VEHICLE AND I STATED THAT AT 138,000 THE CAR SHOULD STILL BE REPAIRABLE AND DRIVEABILITY OTHERWISE WHAT'S THE POINT OF PURCHASING TO OWN THE VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY THE SITUATION WAS DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO A SLEW OF PROBLEMS SUCH AS STANDING, ACCIDENT OR EVEN DEATH.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION DURING MY OWNERSHIP OF MY 2015 SUBARU FORESTER XT WHILE I WAS STOPPED ON A CITY STREET. THERE IS ALSO A "LUNGING" FEELING WHENEVER YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE AFTER PROCEEDING FROM A COMPLETE STOP.
VEHICLE HAD 82,401 MILES WHEN ON JANUARY 19, 2021 THE "ENGINE LOW LEVEL WARNING LIGHT" ILLUMINATED. OIL LEVEL ON DIP-STICK MEASURED AT VERY END OF STICK. ADDED 1QT 0-20W SYNTHETIC OIL, SCHEDULED A COMPLETE "LEAK-DOWN TEST" AT DAN O'BRIEN SUBARU IN VERMONT. THE SERVICE ALSO PERFORMED A 2K MILE "CONSOLIDATED ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST". THE RESULTS MEASURED NO OIL CONSUMPTION BUT THE "COMPRESSION & LEAK-DOWN TEST" MEASURED: CYLINDER #1 = 160PSI & 5%, #2 = 148PSI & 25%, #3 = 165PSI & 5%, #4 = 153PSI & 20%. THEY REPORTED MOST OF "LEAKAGE WAS GOING INTO BLOCK PAST PISTONS AND SOME WAS "LEAKING" BY INTAKE VALVES. RECOMMEND REPLACING SHORT-BLOCK". TO DATE, DUE TO THE "OIL CONSUMPTION TEST" AND NOT THE "COMPRESSION AND LEAK-DOWN TEST" RESULTS, THE DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO REPAIR AND/OR REMEDY THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH, THE COMPRESSION AND LEAK-DOWN TEST INDICATES A "SEVERE" DEGRADATION TO THE ENGINE WITH ONLY 84,770 MILES. THIS IS WELL BELOW SUBARU'S ADVERTISED 100,000 MILE DRIVE-TRAIN WARRANTY PUBLICIZED. NOTE: THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY BY ONLY SUBARU DEALERSHIPS SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN 2017, AND THE CARFAX REPORT STATED IT WAS ONLY USED BY SUBARU DEALERSHIP AS A CORPORATE PERSONNEL RENTAL BEFORE THEN. ADDITIONALLY THE CURRENT CARFAX REPORT SHOWED NO INCIDENTS OR ACCIDENTS AND ALL VEHICLE SERVICES MAINTAINED PROPERLY.
I HAVE CONTINUALLY BEEN HAVING THE SRS LIGHT COMING ON TELLING ME THAT SOMEONE IS SITTING IN MY PASSENGER SEAT WHEN THERE IS NO ON THERE OR WHEN MY 15 YEAR OLD SITS IN THE FRONT SEAT IT DOES NOT REGISTER THAT ANYONE IS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT. I TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AS I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THEY WANT OVER 1600 TO FIX THIS ISSUE
CAR ACCELERATES BOTH WHEN IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING THE CAR IT SHOOTS STRAIGHT UP TO 2 ON IT'S ON. CAR HAS ACCELERATED WHEN EASING IN AND OUT OF PARKING SPACES, I HAVE BEEN VERY CLOSE TO HITTING OTHER CARS BECAUSE OF THIS.
WINDSHIELD CRACK APPEARED IN MY 2015 SUBARU FORESTER DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE FROM A STONE OR OBJECT STRIKING THE GLASS. NOT DRIVING MUCH DUE TO COVID. THIS IS THE SECOND WINDSHIELD THAT HAS TO BE REPLACED IN THE FIVE YEARS I'VE OWNED THIS CAR.
PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT, VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL, GAVE A LITTLE MORE GAS AND VEHICLE LAUNCHED FORWARD AND HIT CEMENT POLE. NO DAMAGE TO POLE CAR DAMAGE AROUND 8K.AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC ALSO
DRIVING ON ACCESS ROAD AT ABOUT 25 MPH. LOUD NOISE FOLLOWED BY FLOPPING NOISE. PULLED OFF THE ROAD WITHIN ABOUT 200 YARDS. DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. PUT ON SPARE TIRE. CURSORY EXAMINATION SHOWED LARGE TEAR THROUGH THE SIDEWALL ON THE INTERIOR SIDE. PHOTOS ARE AVAILABLE. TIRES HAVE 15,320 MILES ON THEM.
ENGINE USING TO MUCH OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO FINAL GEAR UNTIL DRIVEN FOR 10-15 MILES
I HAVE EXPERIENCED ON OCCASION TO WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN HILL, MY FOOT IS ALREADY ON THE BRAKE THE WHOLE WAY BUT BEFORE MY VEHICLE REACHES THE STOP SIGN, IT WILL STOP BRAKING AND GO. MY FOOT NEVER LEFT THE BRAKE PEDAL. NEVER CHANGED THE PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE MY VEHICLE IS RELEASING SOME SORT OF PRESSURE. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, FORTUNATELY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC.

THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT OTHER SUBARU VEHICLES WITH HEATED SEATS WERE KNOWN TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED SUBARU OF MORRISTOWN (175 RIDGEDALE AVE, MORRISTOWN, NJ 07960; (866) 910-3466) AND WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, CAUSING THE SPEED TO INCREASE TO APPROXIMATELY 62 MPH AFTER LEAVING FROM A STOP LIGHT. ON ANOTHER OCCASION WHILE DRIVING, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DRIVER DOWNSHIFTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AUSTIN SUBARU LOCATED AT 8100 BURNET RD, AUSTIN, TX 78757 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE SPEED SUDDENLY DECREASED INDEPENDENTLY TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. DURING THE SUDDEN LOSE OF POWER, NO WARNING MESSAGES WERE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE LOCAL DEALER SCHOMP SUBARU LOCATED AT 580 S HAVANA ST, AURORA, CO 80012 WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO REPAIR PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
DRIVER WAS REAR ENDED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN AT A DEAD STOP BY A VEHICLE GOING AROUND 60-70 MPH. THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT JERKED FORWARD AND IMPACTED DRIVER LEG CAUSING CONTUSIONS AND THE BACK SUPPORT AND HEAD REST PORTION FLEW BACKWARDS, CAUSING DRIVER GLASSES AND HAT TO COME OFF AND LAND TOWARD THE BACK HATCH OF THE VEHICLE. SPARE TIRE WAS DISLODGED FROM TRUNK AREA AND IMPACTED DRIVER'S HEAD DUE TO THE SEAT BACK BEING IN THE RECLINING POSITION. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ANY LEVEL AS WELL.
ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY CAR HAS SHUTDOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS AROUND 75-80 MPH. THEY ALL HAPPENED DURING ROAD TRIPS WHILE MY CAR WAS BETWEEN 1/8 AND 1/4 TANK. THE CAR HAS A NOTICEABLE DROP IN POWER, WHICH FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES AND APPLYING MORE GAS DOESN'T HELP. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS!!!! LUCKILY I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE ON ALL 3 LOCATIONS SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE CAR WILL NOT START, UNTIL MORE GAS IS PUT IN THE CAR. IT'S NOT OUT OF FUEL THOUGH BECAUSE I TRACKED HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE CAR AND HOW MUCH I FILLED UP AFTER TOWING. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER DRIVING FOR MULTIPLE HOURS. I CAN RUN THE CAR TO EMPTY IF I'M JUST DRIVING AROUND TOWN. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED FOR THIS ISSUE. I CAN SEE THERE HAVE BEEN TONS OF COMPLAINTS AROUND THIS ISSUE.
WHEN DRIVING WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE "CHECK AIRBAG" MESSAGE COMES INTERMITTENTLY AS IF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SWITCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN NO PASSENGER IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THERE IS NO ALERT/WARNING MESSAGE. THERE IS A RECALL NOTICE WUM-98 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BY DOESN'T APPEAR TO APPLY TO MY VIN.
MY WIFE AND I WERE LOOKING SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 2014-2018 SUBARU FORESTER. WE LOOKED OVER 25 OF THE SAME CAR AND MOST OF THEM HAD THIS NOISE COMING FROM THE AC COMPRESSOR. THE ONE WE BOUGHT WAS 27000 MILES ONLY AND DID NOT HAVE THE LOUD NOISE ON THE AC COMPRESSOR WHEN WE BOUGHT IT, BUT ABOUT 2000 MILES LATER THE NOISE STARTED, AND AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH WE FOUND THAT IS SUPER COMMON ON THOSE YEARS MODELS TO HAVE THE ISSUE, AND EVENTUALLY IT CAUSES AC COMPRESSOR TO FAILURE. I WOULD ATTACH A VIDEO IF POSSIBLE.
ROUGH IDLING, UNEVEN ACCELERATION WHEN STEPPED ON GAS, THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE, SLOW DOWN, AND ACCELERATE AGAIN. UNEVEN DECELERATION WHEN LETTING GO OF GAS, THE CAR WOULD SLOW DOWN, SPEED UP, AND SLOW DOWN AGAIN. SEEM LIKE A SOFTWARE PROBLEM WITH COMPUTER.
USING CRUISE CONTROL AT 77 MPH IN FAST LANE OF I95 NORTHBOUND FROM FL WHEN, APPROX 10 MILES SOUTH OF VA BORDER, I FELT A SNAP LIKE PULL IN VEHICLE - KIND OF LIKE A ROPE BREAKING WHEN PLAYING TUG OF WAR. THE RPMS INCREASED AND CAR RAPIDLY LOST SPEED AND WOULD NOT ACCURATE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF I95. I NOTICED ALL LIGHTS ON DASH WERE ON AND CAR WAS RUNNING. I TURNED IT OFF, APPROX 15 TO 30 SECONDS AFTER PULLING OFF HIGHWAY. AFTER I TURNED CAR OFF, IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I WAS TOWED (INNERSTATE TOWING) TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC DUE TO NO SUBARU DEALERSHIP. TOYOTA TECH LOOKED AT CAR AND CAR STARTED FINE. THE MECHANIC FELT THE TRANSMISSION OVER HEATED. I THEN LIMPED ALONG TO SUBARU DEALERSHIP IN COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA. I TRAVELED IN SLOW LANE ON I95, AT NO MORE THAN 70 MPH, WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS AND NO ISSUES. A SUBARU TECH DRAINED FLUID AND FOUND METAL. IT WAS DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED. WHILE AT TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, I CONTACTED THE LOCATION WHERE I PURCHASED MY SUBARU FORESTER AND THAT TECH INDICATED IT WAS A FAULTY FUEL PUMP OR TRANSMISSION. WHEN CAR LOST SPEED, I HAD TWO FUEL BARS LEFT. I AM NOW GETTING THE PUMP TESTED AS WELL. FORTUNATELY, MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO SUBARU'S EXTENSION BUT I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN KILLED IN AN INSTANT. THIS IS MY 3RD SUBARU AND I HAVE HAD MORE PROBLEMS WITH THIS ONE THAN MY TWO PREVIOUS CARS COMBINED. FURTHER, I KEEP GOING UP IN MODELS AND PRICE POINT BUT THE QUALITY HAS DECLINED. I AM A LOYAL SUBARU CUSTOMER BUT I THINK THIS MODEL MAY BE MY LAST. BECAUSE NOTHING SEIZED UP AND NO LOUD BANG, JERKING, OR RATTLING; I AM BEGINNING TO SUSPECT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND I COINCIDENTALLY THE BAD TRANSMISSION WAS DISCOVERED. NO BELTS WERE BROKEN AND THE SNAP LIKE NOISE IS UNKNOWN. I HAVE NO INVOICES YET AND POLICE WERE NOT CALLED. I AM DRIVING A LOANER CAR.
AT 40,000 MILES THE EYE SIGHT CAMERAS HAVE FAILED, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. THAT SYSTEM NO LONGER WORKS NOR DO I HAVE CRUISE CONTROL. THE COST TO REPAIR IS $2,306.58.
FIRST MY BATTERY WENT AND I HAVE 56,000 MILES. MY GAUGE FOR GASOLINE IS NOT WORKING ALSO THE MONITOR ON THE INFORMATION SCREEN IS WRONG. MY WINDOW IS NOT WORKING ON THE AUTOMATIC ON THE DRIVER SIDE, NOW IT DOES NOT GO UP WITH LIFTING THE BUTTON IT HASS TO BE LIFTED SEVERAL TIMES. IT SEEMS NOW THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED I HAVE MANY ISSUES. WHEN I CALLED SUBARU TO INSTALL A NEW BATTERY I WAS TOLD IT WAS 49.95 TO INSTALL. UNACCEPTABLE
MY HORN IS NOT WORKING UNLESS MY STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT/RIGHT. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL.. THE INTERNET SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS BIG SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN I CALLED SUBARU THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60MPH AND SUDDENLY THE GAS PEDAL SEEMED TO LOSE PRESSURE. THEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH AS THE CAR STOPPED. I HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND TRY RESTARTING 10+ TIMES UNTIL IT FINALLY WOULD STAY RUNNING AND ALLOW US TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS OCCURED WITH 80 MILES LEFT UNTIL EMPTY. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED ON A TRIP. WE HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVING 1.5 HOURS.
