WINDSHIELD GLASS SUDDENLY CRACKED ON RIGHT SIDE FROM THE EDGE TOWARD THE LEFT SIDE. CRACK IS ABOUT 12" LONG. WINDSHIELD WAS NOT STRUCK FROM ROCK OR ROAD DEBRIS. I NOTICED WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR WHEN STATIONARY IN THE GARAGE. *TR
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND BROKE WITHOUT ANY NOTICEABLE OTHER DAMAGE AND WITHOUT HAVING BEEN STRUCK WHILE IN OPERATION. THERE IS NOW A LARGE CRACK ACROSS THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I WOULD HAVE JUST REPLACED THE GLASS WITHOUT FURTHER ISSUE, BUT A FRIEND WHO IS ALSO A SUBARU OWNER EXPERIENCED A STRANGELY SIMILAR CRACK OCCURRING WITHOUT ANY OTHER DAMAGE, AND WITHOUT ANY ISSUES WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. IT SEEMS ODD THAT THE SAME ISSUE WOULD OCCUR TWICE IN A SHORT SPAN. I AM WONDERING HOW MANY OF THE EXACT SAME ISSUES HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO SUBARU AND WHETHER THEY SHOULD HAVE LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION AT THIS POINT. THE CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS OTHER (SMALLER) QUALITY ISSUES FOR THE DURATION OF THE TIME I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT SO I WOULD ALSO EXPECT THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME SUBARU HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE. I DO NOT HAVE A PHOTO OF THE CRACK WITH ME PRESENTLY BUT AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO PROVIDE ONE IF IT WILL AID IN THIS REVIEW. THANK YOU.
I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BREAK (RIDING THE BREAK AND WAS SLOWING DOWN TO TAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO A RESIDENTIAL ROAD, AND AS I LEFT OFF THE BREAK TO START TURNING BECAUSE I WAS NOW GOING SLOW ENOUGH, THE CAR ACCELERATED FOR A SECOND. RPM RANDOMLY SHOT UP AND THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD. IT HAPPENED QUICKLY AND SUBSIDED JUST AS QUICKLY.
WINDSHIELD GOT CRACKED WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE REASON WHILE PARKED IN GARAGE, AND CRACK GRADUALLY WENT ALL ACROSS THE WINDOW. THAT MADE DRIVING NOT SAFE. WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND DID COST A BIT OVER $1500 INCLUDING EYESIGHT RECALIBRATION. ALL PAPERWORK FOR REPAIR/CALIBRATION IS AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE WINDOW PROVIDED THROUGH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HEARD A LOUD POP WHEN DRIVING ON A MAJOR ROAD. JUST DRIVING. I LOOKED UP AT THE REAR VIEW AND SAW THE WINDSHIELD HAD A VERY LARGE / LONG CRACK IN IT. I CALLED SUBARU DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY. NO MENTION OF PROBLEMS WITH WINDSHIELDS. *TR
THE WINDSHIELD ON MY 2018 SUBARU FORESTER HAD TO BE REPLACED ON APRIL 16, 2019 AND AUGUST 13, 2019 DUE TO ROCK STRIKES IN THE BOTTOM OR SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD (THE BLACK SECTION OF THE WINDSHIELD CLOSEST TO THE METAL. TODAY, MAY 3, 2020 A CRACK LARGER THAN 12 INCHES APPEARED. THE CRACK BEGAN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD (AGAIN IN THE BLACK SECTION). I CHECKED CLOSELY AND THERE WASN'T A ROCK STRIKE. THE CRACK SPONTANEOUSLY APPEARED.
WE HAVE NOW HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD TWICE. BOTH TIMES, THERE WAS A CRACK ORIGINATING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE GLASS AND COMING UP INTO THE LINE OF SITE. BOTH TIMES, THE CRACK OCCURRED WITHOUT AN APPARENT ROCK HIT OR OTHER ISSUE. BOTH TIMES, THE CRACK WAS NOTICED AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN STATIONARY WITH NO APPARENT ISSUES. THE FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT TO SUBARU, WHO SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A ROCK. I SAW NO EVIDENCE OF A ROCK.
2018 SUBARU FORESTER, SITTING AT HOUSE UNDRIVEN (STATIONARY) FOR OVER A MONTH DUE TO STAY AT HOME ORDER, DEVELOPED A CRACKED WINDSHIELD FOR NO REASON.
AFTER NOT DRIVING MY VEHICLE FOR 2 MONTHS DUE TO COVID I NOTICED I HAVE A HUGE CRACK THAT GREW BY AT LEAST AN INCH A DAY WHILST THE CAR WAS IN MY GARAGE. THE CRACK STARTED ON THE BOTTOM BLACK PORTION WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE IT CHIPPED (SEE PHOTO) THE WINDSHIELD AND HAS SPIDERED FROM THERE. I HAVE MEASURED THE CRACK DAILY WITH A CHALK MARKER AND THE CRACK WILL SOON BE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
MY CAR WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY AND OVERNIGHT A WINDSHIELD CRACK OF 8-12 INCHES APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO AN UNKNOWN REASON. 13" CRACK IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD STARTING AT THE BASE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. MY ONLY SPECULATION IS THAT SNOW COVERED THE WINDSHIELD DURING THE NIGHT AND THE SUN HEATED THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING CAUSING AN ABRUPT TEMPERATURE STRESS ON THE GLASS. DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD.
FORESTER WAS PARKED IN UNDER GROUND PARKING GARAGE FOR BETWEEN ONE AND TWO WEEKS. THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD, NO SOUND AT ALL WHEN I TRIED TO START IT. THE ONLY DOOR THAT WAS LOCKED WAS THE REAR HATCH DOOR. NEIGHBOR BROUGHT A BATTERY CHARGER AND GOT THE FORESTER STARTED. FOLLOWING THAT, I DROVE IT TO THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALER AND ASK THEM TO CHECK AND SEE IF ANYTHING WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY. THEY CHECK EVERYTHING AND DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. THE FELLOW AT THE SERVICE DESK SAID THAT STARTING A CAR IS THE BIGGEST DRAIN ON A BATTERY AND IF THE CAR ISN'T DRIVEN ENOUGH BETWEEN STARTUPS, IT TENDS TO BRING THE BATTERY DOWN. HE RECOMMENDED PARTICULAR BATTERY CHARGER WHICH HE SAID I COULD PURCHASE AT WALMART. SINCE I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER ELEVEN THOUSAND MILES ON MY FORESTER, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS SITUATION OCCUR WITH ANY OF MY OTHER AUTOMOBILES IN THE PAST. I DO WORRY ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN SHOULD I LEAVE MY CAR PARKED AT THE AIRPORT FOR A COUPLE WEEKS AND THERE IS NO PLACE TO PLUG IN A CHARGER. I STILL LOVE MY FORESTER.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, THE CRACK IS GROWING FROM BOTTOM PASSENGER SIDE AND UP, HEADING MID SHIELD TOWARDS DRIVER. NO LOGICAL REASON FOR CRACK. NO ROCK CHIP MARKET, NO ACCIDENT.
CRACKED/DENTS IN WINDSHIELD
WINDSHIELD CRACKED ABOUT 1130 PM ON 29 MARCH 2020 WHEN IT WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. NOTHING WAS AROUND, NOTHING HIT IT. NO ONE OR ANIMAL WAS IN THE VEHICLE NOR ANYWHERE NEAR THE VEHICLE.
CRACKING WINDSHIELD ONCE A YEAR SINCE LAST YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER LEAVING THE VEHICLE PARKED AND UNDRIVEN FOR SEVERAL DAYS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START-UP. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SMITH CAIRNS SUBARU - YONKERS (900 CENTRAL PARK AVE, YONKERS, NY 10704, (914) 377-8100) WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
SPONTANEOUS CRACK IN WINDSHIELD
SPONTANEOUS CRACK IN WINDSHIELD. BEGAN AS SMALL CRACK CENTER OF WINDSHIELD ON PASSENGER SIDE. SPREAD TO THE LEFT. NO APPARENT DAMAGE AT START OF CRACK..CRACK INITIALLY VERY SMALL AND NOTICED BY PASSENGER WHILE DRIVING.
DEALER IS UNABLE TO GET PARTS FOR THE RECALL. SAFETY RECALL: WUM98|NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 19V701000 AUTONATION SUBARU IS SAYING IT'S GOING TO BE ABOUT 2 MONTHS FOR THEM TO GET PARTS. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN ACTIVE SINCE OCTOBER 2019. ADDRESS. 9955 E ARAPAHOE RD CENTENNIAL, CO 80112
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, A SMALL ROCK HIT MY WINDSHIELD IN THE LEFT CORNER (FROM THE DRIVER'S PERSPECTIVE) OF THE WINDSHIELD. ALTHOUGH THE INITIAL DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD WAS A SMALL DENT IN THE WINDSHIELD (PICTURED BELOW) THE CRACK STARTED SPREADING AS WE DROVE AND REACHED OVER 2/3 OF THE WINDSHIELD IN LENGTH (ALSO PICTURED BELOW). IT SEEMS UNREASONABLE THAT SUCH A SMALL DENT SHOULD CAUSE MORE THAN HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD TO CRACK. AS A RESULT, I THINK THAT THE WEAK CONSTRUCTION OF THE WINDSHIELD IS WHAT CAUSED THIS LARGE DAMAGE TO IT. ALTHOUGH THE CRACK ISN'T SEEMING TO SPREAD PAST ITS CURRENT LENGTH, IT IS STILL A CONCERN THAT THE WINDSHIELD MIGHT BREAK IN HALF AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE, ESPECIALLY DURING THE WINTER OR IF ANOTHER SMALL ROCK WERE TO HIT IT.

THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE NO ROCKS OR ANY FOREIGN OBJECTS THAT CAUSED THE CRACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ONCE FOR A SIMILAR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARK MILLER SUBARU SOUTH TOWNE SERVICE LOCATED AT 10920 STATE ST, SANDY, UT 84070, (888) 791-4530, TO BE DIAGNOSED WHICH WAS STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,457.
CRACKED WINDSHIELD WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE
CRACKED AND CHIPPED WINDSHIELD FOR NO APPARENT REASON. REPLACED 2-14-20
UNKNOWN. I DROVE MY CAR BACK FROM A WEEKEND TRIP AND SAW NO DAMAGE DURING THAT TIME. I THEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND DID NOT DRIVE MY CAR AGAIN FOR 3 DAYS. WHEN I RETURNED TO DRIVE MY CAR, THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK ACROSS THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE PROPAGATED FROM DAMAGE FROM A PROJECTILE AND WAS NOT PRESENT WHEN I HAD DRIVEN MY CAR 3 DAYS EARLIER. BASED ON THE SIZE AND LOCATION OF THE CRACK, I HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD.
WE RECENTLY BOUGHT THE CAR CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED AND LESS THAN A WEEK LATER THERE WAS A MYSTERIOUS CHIP OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. NOTHING HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING TO CAUSE THIS CHIP, SO I BELIEVE IT HAPPENED WHILE STATIONARY.
LARGE WINDSHIELD CRACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE AT THE TIME.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY NO ONE WAS AROUND ME. I HEARD A SMALL PING. THE NEXT MORNING THERE WAS A LARGE CRACK ACROSS THE DRIVER SIDE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK EVEN WITH MUCH MORE FORCE. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THE WINDSHIELD IS DEFECTIVE. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY SISTER WHO BOUGHT A NEW CROSSTREK.
WINDOWS GET LOCKED AND I'M NOT ABLE TO USE THE SWITCH TO UNLOCK THE WINDOWS AND EITHER SIDE. ISSUE WAS REPORTED. SUBARU CORRECTED THE ISSUE BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. ONCE SUBARU DEALER HELPED VIA PHONE CONVERSATION TO RESET BUT THIS IS A CONSTANT ISSUE. I FEEL TRAPPED IN MY CAR AND I HAVE TO OPEN MY DOOR TO REACH FOR A TICKET WHILE AT A PARKING LOT. CAN'T ROLE DOWN MY WINDOW AT THE GAS STATION. THIS CAN HAPPEN STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING THE MUSIC GOES TO A HIGH TO LOW VOLUME AND VISE VERSA EITHER ON IT'S OWN OR WHEN I HIT A BUMP. VERY DISTURBING AND SCARY AT TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY EYESIGHT FEATURE SUDDENLY DISENGAGES AND MY CRUISE CONTROL CEASES TO WORK AND NO LANE ASSIST OR OTHER SAFETY FEATURES CONTAINED WITH THE "EYESIGHT PACKAGE" WORK FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN IT IS RAINING OR SNOWING.
MULTIPLE CRACKS ON THE WINDSHIELD. SOME CRACKS ARE FROM VERY SMALL ROCKS AND MY INSURANCE COVERED IT . THE MOST RECENT CRACK IS VERY LARGE AND DIDNT APPEAR TO START FROM ANY ROCK. THIS WINDSHIELD FEELS VERY UNSAFE.THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY .
THE STEERING LOCKS UP ON THIS VEHICLE AND WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN IT BUT GIVE ME A STEERING WHEEL EMBLEM WITH THE! AND IT DOESN'T WEATHER IS HOT OR COLD SOMETIMES I HAVE TO TURN IT ON AND OFF SIX OR SEVEN TIMES BEFORE IT WILL UNFREEZE
WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY, OUR WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWICE IN UNDER 24,000 MILES. THESE WERE TWO SEPARATE WINDSHIELDS - THE ORIGINAL AND THE REPLACEMENT FROM A SUBARU DEALERSHIP. WE CAN ASSUME A TINY ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD SINCE WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY - HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT IT DOES NOT TAKE MUCH FOR THE WINDSHIELD TO CRACK. THIS SAME SCENARIO HAS HAPPENED TO OUR WINDSHIELD TWICE. OUR CAR WAS NOT FOLLOWING CLOSELY BEHIND ANOTHER CAR OR LARGE VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN KICKING UP DEBRIS.

PAGE 3 OF PRODUCT CAMPAIGN BULLETIN WUM-98R REVISED 11/20/19 (COPY ATTACHED) STATES IF THE DATE CODE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION WIRING HARNESS IS 18074 (74TH DAY OF 2018) OR BEFORE AND THE SUPPLIER CODE IS 6578, "THE HARNESS IS NG AND THE SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED". AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE ATTACHED PHOTO (IMG_1295), THE DATE CODE ON THE HARNESS LABEL IN MY VEHICLE IS 18019 (19TH DAY OF 2018), THE SUPPLIER CODE IS 6578, AND THE SUBARU PART NUMBER (64084SG020) MATCHES THE PART NUMBER ON THE DEFECTIVE HARNESS LABEL ON PAGE 3 OF WUM-98R. ALSO, HOW CAN THE CUT OFF DATE FOR DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESSES (74TH DAY OF 2018) BE 7 1/2 MONTHS AFTER THE LAST RECALLED VEHICLE WAS PRODUCED ON 8/1/2017? WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESSES MADE IN THAT 7 1/2 MONTH PERIOD ? AFTER SEVERAL EMAILS TO SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE, SUBARU STILL REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IN MY VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE, STATING ONLY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 1/20/15 AND 8/1/17, EVEN THOUGH ACCORDING TO PAGE 3 OF WUM-98R THE HARNESS IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. NOTE ALSO THAT PAGE 3 OF PART 573 SAFETY RECALL REPORT 19V-701 CLAIMS THE WIRING HARNESS DEFECT WAS CORRECTED ON 2/19/2018, AND LISTS 17 RECALLED PART NUMBERS, BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE PART NUMBER IN THE PHOTOGRAPH OF THE DEFECTIVE HARNESS LABEL ON PAGE 3 OF WUM-98R (AND THE HARNESS LABEL IN MY VEHICLE). THIS RECALL CLEARLY WARRANTS FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY NHTSA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARK MILLER SUBARU (3535 STATE ST, SOUTH SALT LAKE, UT 84115) AND AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN AUSTIN, TEXAS, HOWEVER, NEITHER DEALER WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE A CONCLUSIVE DIAGNOSIS OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000.
THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL AFFECTING 2018 SUBARU FORESTER'S (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V701000). I CURRENTLY OWN A 2018 FORESTER THAT THE VIN NUMBER DOES NOT MATCH THE RECALL. HOWEVER MY VEHICLE I DOING THE EXACT THING THAT THE RECALL IS FOR, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TURNS OFF, LIGHT COMES ON AND AN SRS AIRBAG WARNING MESSAGE COMES ON. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A TROUBLE CODE FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG THAT THEY JUST CLEARED. SIX MONTHS LATER AND NOW NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, VEHICLE IS DOING THE SAME THING, TURNING THE AIRBAG OFF, ERROR MESSAGE COMING ON. I FEEL AS THOUGH SUBARU DIDN'T INCLUDE ALL OF THE CORRECT VIN NUMBER OF VEHICLES THAT WERE AFFECTED. IT CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE PASSENGER, BEING THAT THE AIRBAG TURNS OFF AND WILL NOT WORK IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. I ALSO DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR MODEL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM JUST CAUSE MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED. THEY SHOULD EXTEND THE VIN'S TO ALL 2018 MODELS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU FORESTER. WHEN THE CONTACT PRESSED THE DEFROST BUTTON, A SMALL CRACK WAS NOTICED ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK PROGRESSIVELY GREW LARGER AND DEVELOPED INTO A CRACK FROM THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD ALL THE WAY TO THE ROOF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
A SPONTANEOUS CRACK IN FRONT WINDSHIELD WITH NO HISTORY OR EVIDENCE OF ROCK WHIP OR DAMAGE OCCURRED WITH BRAND NEW VEHICLE (130 MILES), CRACK BEGAN AT ROOF LINE IN AREA IMMEDIATELY ABOVE THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND EXTENDED BELOW THE "DOT SHADING" AROUND THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. GLASS REPAIR PERSON NOTED NO EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE, WINDOW WAS REPLACED AND BILLED TO MY INSURANCE. NOW AT 32,000 MILES IN THE SAME LOCATION, ANOTHER CRACK HAS APPEARED. GLASS REPAIR PERSON AGAIN REPORTS NO EVIDENCE OF ROCK CHIP OR DAMAGE, AND HE THINKS THAT THE CRACK SEEMS TO BE ON THE INSIDE, NOT ON THE OUTSIDE. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER, AND THE CAR IS GARAGED WHEN NOT IN USE.. I AM NOT CERTAIN OF THE DATE THIS OCCURRED THE FIRST OR SECOND TIME BECAUSE IT BEGINS IN AN AREA WHERE THE MIRROR OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW OF IT AND I DON'T NOTICE UNTIL IT EXTENDS BEYOND THE REARVIEW MIRROR. FIRST TIME IT WAS NOTED WHEN I TOOK CARE IN TO HAVE GLASS TREATMENT PUT ON (TO REDUCE NIGHT GLARE) AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO IT BECAUSE OF THE CRACK. THE CAR ONLY HAD 136 MILES AT THIS TIME. SECOND TIME I NOTICED IT ABOUT 11/2/19. SCHEDULED FOR REPLACEMENT ON 12/5/19.
I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET, ABOUT 20MPH WHEN THE REAR DOOR WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SHATTERED. IT APPEARED SPONTANEOUS, I DIDN'T SPECIFICALLY HEAR ANYTHING HIT THE WINDOW, AND I DON'T REMEMBER THERE BEING OTHER CARS AROUND THAT WOULD'VE KICKED SOMETHING UP OFF THE ROAD...I JUST HEARD A POP AND ALL THE GLASS SHATTERING. EARLIER THAT MORNING I HAD HEARD CREAKING NOISES THAT I HAD THOUGHT WAS JUST STUFF MOVING AROUND IN THE BACK OF THE CAR, BUT MAYBE IT WAS THE WINDOW BEGINNING TO FAIL?
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. LARGE CRACK APPEARED DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN CAR WAS PARKED/STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD(NO GRAVEL OR ROCKS PRESENT), MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE. I HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND THE SAFETY SYSTEM RECALIBRATED AT A COST OF ALMOST $900.I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD AT ABOUT 45 MPH AT THE TIME.
I WOKE UP ONE MORNING TO FIND A CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE). I PARK MY CAR IN OUR DRIVEWAY, NOT IN THE STREET. I RARELY EVEN DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AS I WORK A HALF MILE FROM MY HOUSE.
The contact owns a 2018 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that since owning the vehicle, the battery had been replaced three times. On each occasion, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start up after multiple attempts. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer had been notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A LINEAR CRACK AFTER BEING STRUCK BY AN EMPTY WIPER ARM DURING THE CHANGING OF A WIPER BLADE. THE CRACK GREW FROM 6 INCHES ON THE FIRST DAY TO 14 INCHES ON THE SECOND DAY.
FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY ON AND OFF, WITH AND WITHOUT A PASSENGER, WITH AND WITHOUT ITEMS ON THE SEAT. THIS IS THE THIRD OR MAYBE FOURTH OCCASION VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER. ONE OF THE FIRST TIMES THEY INSPECTED THE CAR, AND THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO RELOCATE THE "MODULE" (WHATEVER THE MODULE IS) FOR THAT SEAT. THEY STATED IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. A MONTH LATER THE CAR STARTED TO DO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON AND OFF AGAIN. CAR BACK AGAIN TO DEALER BUT THEN LIGHT WAS GONE OFF. YESTERDAY, SEP 23, 2019 CAR WAS DROPPED AGAIN AT DEALER WITH LIGHT ON AND THE CAR STILL ON, IN ORDER NOT TO LOSE THE SITUATION AT RESTART. THEY JUST CALLED ME AND STATE THE SEAT AIRBAG WAS REPLACED $1,100 UNDER WARRANTY, CAR IS 6500 MILES OR SO. THAT WE COULD NOT LOCATE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A PASSENGER ON THAT SEAT. ANY ITEM, CELLULAR, TABLET, COMPUTER, BATTERY, BAGS, PURSUES, SHOPPING ITEMS, PAPERS, DOCUMENTS ON THAT SEAT WILL POSSIBLY CAUSE THE SITUATION AGAIN AND THEY WONT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO NOTHING IN FRONT OF THAT SEAT BY THE FLOOR..??? NOT POSSIBLE TO RECLINE THE BACK OF THE SEAT.... WHAT? THIS IS MY FIRST CAR DOING THAT. I DON'T CARE WHAT THEY SAY TO US, IT'S THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AND A DEADLY RISK DRIVE THIS CAR WITH THE PASSENGER LIGHT ON AND A PASSENGER IN IT AND BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENS WITH THE CAR ON, BUT PARKED, STOPPED WAITING FOR A LIGHT TO CHANGE, MOVING, GOING FORWARD, GOING REVERSE, AND IS INTERMITTENT.
EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT HAS SHOWN 'OFF.' THE NHTSA SITE SHOWS NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. SOME OF THOSE PEOPLE WERE ADVISED BY SUBARU SERVICE TECHNICIANS THAT THEY MUST HAVE SPILLED SOMETHING ON THE SEAT, AFFECTING THE SENSOR. I WAS TOLD THE SAME WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN. SUBARU TECHS RAN A DIAGNOSTIC THAT INDICATED NO ERROR CODES. I DISCOVERED ON MY OWN THE APPARENT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. I HAVE DOGS AND CUSTOMARILY PLACE A TOWEL ON ALL SEATS TO KEEP THEM CLEAN. WHEN I REMOVED THE TOWEL MY HUMAN PASSENGER WAS SEATED ON, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR SHOWED 'ON.' IF YOU LOOK AT THE 2018 SUBARU MANUAL, THIS IS MENTIONED IN SECTION 1-56. IN ADDITION TO NOT USING SEAT COVERS, CUSHIONS, ETC., THE PASSENGER IS ADVISED TO TAKE OFF 'UNNECESSARY ITEMS' OR SIT IN THE BACK SEAT TO ENSURE THE AIR BAG WILL ACTIVATE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW, ONE WHICH SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO SUBARU SERVICE TECHS AND CUSTOMERS' ATTENTION.
WINDSHIELD IS RANDOMLY CRACKED AND NOW HAS A BIG SPIDER CRACK ON THE LOWER END OF THE WINDSHIELD OF THE DRIVER SIDE.
