While washing my vehicle, I would notice small tiny little dips in the windshield. It appeared to be tiny chips as if they were hit with 1000 pebbles. I addressed the issue with the dealership in January 2021. They took pictures and submitted it to the Subaru corporate office. I knew that there were issues related to windshields cracking spontaneously which is why I addressed it with the dealership. They stated that my vehicle may not be related to that issue. Today, August 7, 2021, I went to lunch and park my vehicle. When I returned, I noticed a large crack which runs halfway through my windshield. It starts on the bottom right corner and goes all the way across underneath my rearview mirror.
HELLO, WINDSHIELD CRACKED AGAIN ON MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THERE WAS A LOUD CLICKING SOUND AFTER I STARTED THE ENGINE AND A HUGE HORIZONTAL CRACK APPEARED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES ATTACHED BELOW. IT IS A SECOND SUDDEN WINDSHIELD CRACK IN TWO YEARS OF OWNERSHIP! THIS ISSUE IS BECOMING A REAL FRUSTRATION DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF THE GLASS AND UNREASONABLY HIGH COST TO REPLACE IT AND RECALIBRATE THE EYE-SIGHT. I AM AWARE THAT THE NEW CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST SUBARU COVERING THE NEW FORESTER SK 2019+ FOR THE SUDDEN WINDSHIELD CRACKS. THAT PROVES THAT I AM NOT ALONE. WHAT ARE THE REASONS WHY THE RECALL WAS NOT ISSUED YET? PREVIOUS WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WAS COVERED BY SUBARU DUE TO A WELL-KNOWN GLASS DEFECT THAT TRACES BACK TO 2015. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. WHEN DEFROSTING MY CAR AFTER A RECENT SNOWSTORM, I NOTICED THAT A CRACK DEVELOPED IN THE WINDSHIELD JUST BELOW THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER. IT APPEARS THAT A SMALL ROCK/PEBBLE HITTING THE WINDSHIELD CAUSED THE CRACK, BUT I DO NOT REMEMBER HEARING A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD NOT DONE ANY HIGHWAY DRIVING IN THE DAYS PRIOR TO NOTICING THE CRACK EITHER. ATTACHED PHOTOS SHOW THAT THERE WAS ONLY A SMALL CHIP (IE NOT A BIG CRATER) AT THE IMPACT POINT, WHICH SUGGESTS THAT WHATEVER HIT THE WINDSHIELD MAY HAVE BEEN SMALL AND DID SO AT RELATIVELY LOW VELOCITY. GIVEN THAT CRACKED WINDSHIELDS ARE A COMMON ISSUE WITH NEWER SUBARU VEHICLES, I BELIEVE THAT THIS CRACK IS THE RESULT OF POOR QUALITY WINDSHIELD MATERIALS AND/OR POOR WINDSHIELD DESIGN. THE CAR IS ONLY ~2 YEARS OLD, AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD ANY SORT OF CHIP/CRACK TO A WINDSHIELD ON ONE OF MY VEHICLES.
THE CAR HAS 12600ISH MILES. THERE ARE NO ROCK CHIPS, ETC. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY WHEN WE PARKED LAST NIGHT AND NOW THERE IS A 6 INCH CRACK COMING FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER. THERE WERE NO INSTANCES OF ROCKS, DRIVING OVER BUMPS, ETC.THE CAR DIDN'T HAVE A CRACK WHEN WE PARKED IT LAST NIGHT AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN DOES TODAY.
I HAVE HAD MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER FOR 18 MONTHS. I HAVE 15,500 MILES AND SUDDENLY MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER TO 13" UP TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE. I DO NOT SEE AN IMPACT ON GLASS. NO APPARENT NOISE OF ROCK OR DEBRIS. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 44 DEGREES AND RAINING. I TRAVEL THE SAME ROUTE TO WORK FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS WITH NO APPARENT SIGNS OF CONSTRUCTION OR LOOSE ROAD MATERIAL. I HAVE CONTACTED SUBARU DEALER WITH NO CALL BACK. I HAVE READ SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS OF EMINENT DANGER OF VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES MALFUNCTIONING DUE TO A FRACTURE LIKE THIS. NOT TO MENTION MY OWN LINE OF SIGHT THAT COULD BE IMPAIRED.
26,000 MILES ON MY CAR NO REAL REASON AS TO WHY MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED. BUT IT DID, THERE WAS NO WINDSHIELD CHIP. IT JUST DECIDED TO CRACK. REALLY FRUSTRATING WHILE OUT OF TOWN. COSTS $1200.00.
SATURDAY, DEC 26, AROUND 2:30-3PM I WAS LEAVING ESTES PARK COLORADO, DRIVING DOWN A WINDY MOUNTAIN ROAD. AT THIS TIME I WAS APPLYING MY BRAKES AROUND THE CORNERS AND , CONSTANT ON/OFF FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. DURING ONE OF THESE BRAKING MOMENTS ON A CORNER MY CAR ACCELERATED INSTEAD, AS I'M APPLYING THE BRAKE, FOR 1-2 SECONDS. IT'S LIKE A LURCH FORWARD INSTEAD OF A BRAKE. THEN IT CORRECTED ITSELF AND DID NOT DO THIS AGAIN. I ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS PHENOMENON WHEN DRIVING IN THE SNOW IN 2019. IT OCCURRED 3-4 TIMES WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN THE SNOW APPLYING THE BRAKE FREQUENTLY. THE CAR WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY LURCH FORWARD WHILE MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. EACH TIME I'VE EXPERIENCED THIS I WAS DRIVING WITH ECO MODE ON, PRESSING THE BRAKE FREQUENTLY FOR A DURATION OF TIME. IT'S AS IF THE CAR GETS CONFUSED OR IS TRYING TO SWITCH GEARS. THIS IS MY FIRST AWD VEHICLE.
MY FORESTER HAVE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT ANY REASON. NO STONE HITTING NO CHIPS. JUST BROKEN WHILE IT'S PARKED. IT'S DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
CAR STALLS SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING FROM ONE STREET INTO ANOTHER STREET, ABOUT ONE TIME IN TWENTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 18 MPH WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED, GOING AROUND A BEND UP-HILL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOWSER SUBARU (1001 CLAIRTON BLVD, PLEASANT HILLS, PA 15236, (412) 469-2100) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
On at least 4 or five occasions my car has been dead in the garage of my home. So far I have been lucky and it has not gone dead while I was out. After the first three dead issues, I had the AAA come and they replaced the battery. I brought it to Subaru then and was told a light was left on. This was a lie. I wrote a letter to Subaru regarding the dead battery and associated costs and they refunded my expenditures. Using the vehicle with the new battery was ok for awhile but now this issue is starting again. Looking online at various pieces of information I discovered that I am not the only one with this issue. There is currently a class action lawsuit in New Jersey although I am not sure if it includes Foresters. This site explains about the CAN system in the affected vehicles and in laymen's terms says that after the car is turned off it is supposed to go to sleep but it is not. It is draining the battery continually. Of course Subaru is fighting this. It will cost them money to recall all these vehicles. But how safe are you when you are out, perhaps in a remote area, and your car is dead? One woman stated that in her vehicle she was stranded overnight. This is NOT safe. Subaru service is telling me I don't drive the car enough. Who are they to tell me when and how much to drive?
THE BATTERY OF THE CAR DRAINED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE IT WAS OFF AND PARKED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE BATTERY WAS FINE. ONE MONTH LATER THE BATTERY DRAINED AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY OF THE CAR AFTER THAT. THE CAR HAS TO BE PLUGGED INTO A CHARGER WHEN IT IS NOT IN USE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, A SMALL ROCK IMPACTED AND CRACKED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER - PREMIER SUBARU OF FREMONT (5601 CUSHING PKWY, FREMONT, CA 94538, (510) 319-5500) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE DEALER ON BOTH OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,700.
WINDSHIELD WAS STRUCK BY A SMALL ROCK WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS (DRIVER DID NOT SEE THE ROCK), CAUSING A 2 MM ROUGH CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD AND A 1 CM CRACK ON THE OUTSIDE AND ANOTHER 1 CM CRACK ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
THE ENGINE HAS OIL LEAKED ON THE LEFT SIDE WHICH I REPORTED ON DEALERSHIP SERVICE LAST NOVEMBER 30 2020 AND WAS FIXED AND REPAIRED AT DECEMBER 8, 2020. I SOMETIMES CHECK AND POP UP THE HOOD TO SEE THE LEVELS OF WIPER WASHER, COOLANT, AND OTHER FLUIDS AT LEAST TWICE A MONTH AND NOTICED LAST WEEK MARCH 4 THAT THERE IS AGAIN OIL LEAKED ON THE SAME LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE SERVICE AND THE CAR WAS BROUGHT AGAIN YESTERDAY TO HAVE IT FIX. IT IS ONLY THREE MONTHS OR MAYBE LESS COZ I DID NOT CHECK THE ENGINE LAST 2 WEEKS OF FEBRUARY DUE TO COLD SNOWY WEATHER. MY WORRY IS THAT THE WARRANTY WILL END THIS NOVEMBER OF 2021 AND OIL LEAKED ON ENGINE WILL COME BACK ALL OVER AGAIN AND EVEN AFTER THE WARRANTY.
WHILE CLEANING THE INSIDE FRONT WINDSHIELD, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED. I DIDN'T APPLY ANY UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF PRESSURE, JUST "REGULAR" WIPING PRESSURE. IT HAS SINCE "SPIDERED" OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS.
MY 2019 FORESTER WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED FROM THE VERY TOP TO MID WAY DOWN. I NOTICED THE CRACK WHEN GOING TO MY CAR FOR WORK IN THE MORNING.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE PARKED IN EMPTY PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. REPLACING THIS DEFECTIVE PART WILL COST OVER $1000
The contact owns a 2019 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated, and the vehicle immediately decelerated to 56 MPH. The failure was intermittent but had occurred several times over 5 years. The contact had to manually turn off the Forward Collision Avoidance system to avoid the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
STARTED CAR ON A COLD MORNING, TURNED ON DEFROSTER AND WENT INSIDE GOT BACK IN CAR STARTED TO BACK OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED A HUGE CRACK STARTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEED THE BOTTOM OF THE WIPER BLADE. AS I DROVE THE CRACK GOT WORSE NOW IT IS HALFWAY ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE FIRST CRACK APPEARED
WHILE DRIVING AND STATIONARY. AT LEAST 4 CHIPS IN WINDSHIELD. 1 CRACK THAT OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE AT BETWEEN 55-65. INSURANCE FILLED INITIAL 2 CHIPS, BUT REFUSED TO FILL OTHERS OR REPAIR CRACK WITHOUT FILING A CLAIM THAT REQUIRES ME PAYING THE DEDUCTIBLE.
THE VEHICLE HAS 16000 MILES ON IT AND IVE HAD TO 2 WINDSHIELDS CRACK IN 3 MONTHS TIME. THE FIRST SPREAD WITHING 5 MINUTES. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED BY MY INSURANCE. THE SECOND HAPPENED TODAY AND MY INSURANCE WILL NOT PAY FOR. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NO FAULT. BOTH CAUSED IN THE SAME LOCATION LOWER WINSHIELD, CAUSED BY MINOR HIGHWAY DEBRIS. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS AND NEVER HAD A WIND SHIELD SO WEAK! BOTH TIMES CAR WAS IN MOTION. I CAN PROVIDE PIC OF SECOND INCIDENT BUT THE FIRST WAS AT LEAST 14 INCHES WIDE AFTER SPREADING.
SUBARU FORESTER 2019 MODEL CRACKED WINDSHIELD BY IT SELF.
I HAVE HAD 2 WINDSHIELDS CRACK ON ME DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE CRACKS ARE VIOLENT AND SUDDEN. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY SUBARUS MANY MILES BUT THE 2019 FORESTER IS VERY SENSITIVE TO INHERENT STRESS IN THE GLASS
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO COLD WEATHER, WHILE STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY, WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS CHIPS OR IMPACTS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK IF A REPLACEMENT WAS COVERED, AND WAS TOLD 'NOT A CHANCE. THAT JUST HAPPENS TO THOSE CARS.' UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH, I'VE FOUND OTHER 2019 FORRESTER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME WINDSHIELD PROBLEMS, AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME CUSTOMER SERVICE. A WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT SPONTANEOUSLY CRACK JUST BECAUSE IT'S COLD OUTSIDE.
DRIVING DOWN A SIDE STREET I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE I HIT THE BRAKES AND INSTEAD LURCHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I PUSHED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ABOUT 8 FEET AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. DURING THIS TIME I REPEATEDLY PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HAD NO RESPONSE. AFTER HAVING THE CAR REPAIRED AT THE COLLISION CENTER THEY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO SUBARU. SUBARU RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. AFTER I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE COLLISION CENTER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DETECTOR WOULD NOT GO OFF FOR MY WIFE WHO WEIGHS UNDER 100 POUNDS.'TO CLARIFY THE SENSOR INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OFF.' I SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. TOTAL DAMAGE TO MY CAR WAS ABOUT $8200 AND I'M NOT CERTAIN OF THE DAMAGES TO THE OTHER VEHICLE.
WINDSHIELD CHIP FOR NO APPARENT REASON ON RURAL ROAD
LEAVING A PARKING LOT GETTING READY TO TURN ONTO A DIVIDED 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE CARE DID NOT GO WILE I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR DOWN AND I DID IT AGAIN AND STILL NOTHING. BEFORE I REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG THE CAR DRIFTED INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WITH NO POWER EXCEPT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT IDLE SPEED AND IN GEAR BUT STILL NO ACCELERATION SO I LEFT THE CAR DRIFT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CAR STARTED TO GO JUST BEFORE THE LIGHT CHANGED BACK. THE START-STOP WAS TURNED OFF AND THE ENGINE NEVER STOPPED THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING, BUT THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED 6 OR 7 TIMES IN ABOUT 4 MONTHS BUT THIS WAS THE MOST SERIOUS.
THERE WAS A MILDLY HOT DAY IN REVERE MA IN 10/24 ALMOST 80 AND GOT COLD AT NIGHT AROUND 40. NEXT DAY WE GET IN THE VEHICLE AND NOTICE SOMETHING LIKE A CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD BUT AT THE MOMENT WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST DIRT. IN 10/27 WE NOTICE THAT IT WAS A REAL CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN CLEANING THE VEHICLE, RIGHT WHERE THE DEFROSTER BLOWS. CRACK IS DEFINITELY NOT DUE FROM ROAD DEBRIS, NOT ROCK CHIPS AROUND THE CRACK AT ALL.
BACK HOOD LATCH STUCK AND WON'T OPEN
LOVE MY SUBARU FORESTER BUT HATE HOW MANY ROCK CHIPS I'VE GOTTEN IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. TOMORROW WILL BE MY 3RD WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT I GET TO CALL INTO MY INSURANCE NOT TO MENTION JUST THE TIME IT TAKES TO WAIT FOR A NEW ONE AND MAKING TIME TO GET IT PUT IN. I DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY LESS THAN 15 MINUTES AT A TIME AND MAYBE ONCE A WEEK AND THE ONLY THING I THINK ABOUT WHILE DRIVING IS TRYING TO STAY AWAY FROM SEMIS, TRUCKS AND TRAILERS TO TRY SAVE MYSELF SOME TIME AND MONEY AND NOT GET ANOTHER ROCK CHIP. I'VE HAD COUNTLESS ROCK CHIPS REPLACED IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS ALONG SIDE OF THE 2 WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENTS I'VE HAD SO FAR. ITS INSANE. TONIGHT I GOT A ROCK CHIP ALMOST THE SIZE OF A QUARTER WITH NO CAR AROUND EITHER FRONT OR BACK FOR AT LEAST 5 CAR LENGTHS! WITHIN 10 MINUTES ALMOST SPLIT HALF WAY ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD. ITS INSANE. SO NOW MY INSURANCE GETS TO REPLACE YET ANOTHER WINDSHIELD AND PAY FOR THE EYESIGHT TO BE RECALIBRATED, AGAIN. SUBARU SHOULD REALLY FIGURE THIS OUT OR AT LEAST BE WILLING TO REPLACE THEIR GLASS AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY BIG PROBLEM.

OVER TIME, THE CRACK SPREAD TO APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK OBSTRUCTED HIS VISION WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,500.
LARGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE FROM EXHAUST PIPE AND LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING
WHEN DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STARTS TO JERK VERY STRONG AND HIGHWAY SPEED IS LOST MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE MODEL AND SUBARU IS NOT FIXING THE ISSUE. THE JERKING IS SO VIOLENT THAT IT COULD BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD FOR DRIVERS AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. THE JERKING HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS AND SOMETIMES IT IS MORE STRONG.
WHEN DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, THE GPS GIVES AN AUDIO COMMAND "EXIT RIGHT AHEAD", BUT IT IS NOT FOR THE NEXT EXIT. IT IS FOR ONE OR EVEN TWO EXITS LATER. THIS IS VERY MISLEADING AND NEARLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE WHEN WE REALIZED THAT WE SHOULD NOT GET OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT, WE VEERED BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SUBURU SHOULD REPROGRAM ALL THE GPS SYSTEMS ON THIS MODEL.
A CRACK HAS DEVELOPED ON THE LOWER PORTION OF DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. NO IMPACT OCCURRED WITH ANY OBJECT. INTERNET RESEARCH HAS REVEALED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE ACCORDING TO AN ARTICLE IN TORQUE NEWS DATED 20 JUN 20 BY DENIS FLIERL.
WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED TWICE. FIRST TIME WE HAD IT REPLACED ON 12/17/2019 PROBABLY DUE TO A ROCK. 6359 MILES ON VEHICLE. SECOND TIME IT CRACKED ON SEPT. 8, 2020. IT WAS IN A WARM GARAGE AND PULLED OUT ON A COOL MORNING. DRIVEN A MILE ON NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS. CRACK DUE TO COOLER TEMPERATURES OR UNKNOWN. 8,700 MILES AT TIME. THIS CAR IS NOT DRIVEN MUCH. CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE SECOND TIME AT $1400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD DELAMINATED FROM THE INSIDE, FROM THE ATTACHMENT, WHERE THE REARVIEW MIRROR WAS MOUNTED AND CAUSED THE REARVIEW MIRROR TO DETACH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FITZGERALD COUNTRYSIDE SUBARU DEALER LOCATED AT 27365 US HWY 19 N, CLEARWATER, FL 33761, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE CORPORATE WARRANTY, PER THE POLICY OF SUBARU OF AMERICA, THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,900.
SOMETHING WENT VERY WRONG IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE WINDSHIELD. WITHIN THE FIRST 2 MONTHS, I NOTICE VERY SMALL DEFECTS (SMALL, PINPOINT SIZED FRACTURES) IN THE WINDSHIELD. NOW, I HAVE A 20 INCH CRACK THAT GROWS 1 INCH EVERY DAY.
WINDSHIELD SEEMINGLY CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY (NO OBSERVED IMPACT WITH PROJECTILE LIKE A STONE). VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT MODERATE SPEED (~45 MPH) WHEN CRACK "POPPED". NO IMPACT FROM PROJECTILE WAS HEARD.
I STARTED THE CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY, WANTED TO BACK IN TO PARK, GOT OUT OF THE RUNNING CAR TO CHECK SOMETHING, CLOSED THE DOOR BEHIND ME AND THEN TRIED TO GET BACK IN BUT THE CAR LOCKED ITSELF. I HAVE MY KEY ON ME BUT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO OPEN THE CAR, THE KEY DOESN'T WORK. I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR MANUALLY AND THAT DIDN'T WORK EITHER. I'M STANDING NEXT TO MY LOCKED, RUNNING CAR. IT'S AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. HAD MY BABY BEEN IN THE CAR, IT WOULD BE LIFE THREATENING! THIS IS ABSURD! THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE AND IT'S SCARY. THIS SHOULD BE A LAWSUIT. THIS IS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED STAT. I'M EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED WITH SUBARU.
THE WINDSHIELD HAS 3 CHIPS AND A 12 INCH LONG CRACK RUNNING DOWN THE MIDDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY FOR 3 CRACKS THE LAST CHIPS IS FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND BROKE WITH NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE
2019 SUBARU FORESTER WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED BY ITSELF DURING DRIVING IN A HOT DAY. NOTHING HIT THE WINDOW THE TIME IT HAPPENED. REVIEWED DASH CAM AND CONFIRMED NOTHING HIT THE WINDOW. CIRCULAR CRACK WHICH CAN BE BARELY FELT FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT DEEP ALMOST INTO THE 2ND LAYER OF GLASS.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED, ABOUT 12" LONG, FROM THE BOTTOM UP INTO THE VIEWING AREA WHILE SITTING IN A DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOWS FAILED TO FULLY CLOSE WHICH CAUSED MOLD TO DEVELOP INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GATEWAY SUBARU (30275 WINNER BLVD, DELMAR, MD 21875, (410) 896-3800) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WOULD BE NO ASSISTANCE IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,000.
Since purchasing the vehicle in December 2018, we have had to replace the windshield twice, and there is a crack in the current windshield which I am speaking to the insurer about tomorrow. Attached are pictures of the 3 incidents. For comparison we also own a 2015 Nissan Rogue with 110,000 miles which has never had any such issues.
PARKED VEHICLE IN GARAGE. TWO DAYS LATER, FOUND A 2 FOOT CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. I SEE NO PLACE ALONG THE CRACK WHERE AN OBJECT MIGHT HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD.
TODAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME, THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED A CRACK WITHOUT ANY PERCEPTIBLE IMPACT.
RECEIVED A SMALL CHIP IN WINDSHIELD (APPROX1/16") FROM A WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A TINY TINY PEBBLE, ABOUT A WEEK LATER LEFT CAR OUT ALL DAY IN THE SUN. WHEN I APPROACHED THE CAR, I NOTICED MY 1/16" CHIP TURNED INTO A 15" CRACK. I.E ONE DAY IN THE SUN TURNED A 1/16" CHIP INTO A 15" CRACK.
