TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED A VERTICAL CRACK IN THE MIDDLE THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000.
CAR PURCHASED ON 1/25/21 FROM DEALER WITH 8700 MILES ON IT IN GOOD CONDITION. BY 1/30/21, ONE CRACK AND 3 CHIPS WERE DEVELOPING ON WINDSHIELD. DID NOT HAPPEN DURING DRIVING. WE HAVE PUT ABOUT 200 MILES ON IT. HAILED ON 1/29/21 BUT NO DAMAGE TO GLASS SUNROOF OR OTHER WINDOWS.CAR SPENDS MOST TIME PARKED IN LOT, NOT ON STREET.
A LARGE FRACTURE ON THE WINDSHIELD APPEARED (ROUGHLY 16 INCHES LONG) WITH, IN MY OPINION, NO OBVIOUS IMPACT. I ONLY NOTICED THE FRACTURE AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP TO GET THE FRACTURE INSPECTED. THE SERVICE MANAGER RAN A BALL-POINT PEN ALONG THE FRACTURE AND FOUND A SMALL INDENTATION (LESS THAN 1/32 INCH DEEP) NEAR THE A PILLAR. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THIS INDICATED THE FRACTURE WAS DUE TO AN IMPACT AND NOT A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD. CONSEQUENTLY, THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE SINCE FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND I AM IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED.
WINDSHIELD CHIP AND BREAK REALLY EASY I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN A BODYSHOP FOR 20 YEARS AND EVER NEW SUBARU OWN I HAVE TALKED TO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKING BUT THAT'S THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE BAD TO SAY ABOUT THE CARS
PURCHASED A NEW SUBARU FORESTER SPORT MAY 25 2020, THE MORNING OF 1/22/2020 WE WOKE UP TO A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD FROM PASSENGER SIDE ALL THE WAY TO THE MIDDLE OF THE GLASS. THE VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AND VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. THE WEATHER WAS CERTAINLY NOT AN ISSUE AS IT DOES NOT GET BELOW FREEZING OFTEN (ESPCIALLY IN OUR GARAGE) IN THE SOUTHEAST THIS TIME OF YEAR. I WALKED OUT TO START THE CAR TO LET IT WARM UP BEFORE DRIVING AS I ALWAYS DO, WALKED BACK INSIDE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES THEN WALK OUT TO FIND A HUGE CRACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. I DONT USE THE DEFROST OR HEAT, JUST THE HEATED SEATS, SO GLASS HEATING UP TO FAST COULDNT HAVE BEEN THE ISSUE; NOT THAT IT SHOULD BE AN ISSUE. HOWEVER I DID NOTICE A SMALL PIN PRICK OF A CHIP IN THE GLASS UPON FURTHER INSPECTION. THAT SAID, THIS GLASS IS FAR TOO FRAGILE AND IM ALREADY EXPECTING TO BE REPLACING IT AGAIN AS THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH SUBARU FOR A FEW YEARS NOW. $1500 TO REPLACE THE GLASS AND RE CALIBRATE EYESIGHT. EXPECTING INSURANCE PREMIUMS TO GO UP AT SOME POINT. THIS GLASS IS BEYOND DEFECTIVE, WEAK, AND WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN SOMETHING SLIGHTLY BIGGER HITS IT? I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING ONE OF THE SAFEST CARS ON THE MARKET...
THE WINDSHIELD ON THE 2020 SUBARU FORESTER IS EXTREMELY SENSITIVE AND FRAGILE. ROCK IMPACTS THAT WOULD HAVE LEFT NO MARK ON OTHER WINDSHIELDS LEAVE CHIPS. THIS MORNING, WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, WITHOUT A ROCK IMPACT, THE WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED; AN 18-INCH CRACK DEVELOPED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, STARTING WHERE THE GLASS MEETS THE VEHICLE, ABOUT HALFWAY UP THE GLASS. I HEARD A [POP] NOISE AND NOTICED THE CRACK SUDDENLY DEVELOPED; MY WIFE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE UNTIL I POINTED IT OUT TO HER. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THAT THE GLASS IS CONSTRUCTED DIFFERENTLY IN ORDER FOR SUBARU'S MOTION SENSING SYSTEM "EYESIGHT" TO WORK PROPERLY. IF SUBARU CAN'T DEVELOP A MOTION SENSING SYSTEM WITHOUT SERIOUSLY COMPROMISING THE INTEGRITY OF THE WINDSHIELD, THEY SHOULD NOT SELL CARS WITH THAT SYSTEM.
HELLO, I OWN A SUBARU FORESTER SPORT 2020 AND I HAVE THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW IMPLODE WITHOUT ANY REASON. THE CAR WAS PARKED ALONE FOR LESS THAN ONE HOUR AND I CAME OUT OF THE HOUSE TO USE IT AND THE WINDOW WAS IN A MILLION LITTLE PIECES WITH NO SIGN OF ENTRY OR ANY OBJECT TO SUGGEST THAT IT WAS AN ACT OF VANDALISM. THE POLICE CAME AND DID A THROUGH-ROUGH INVESTIGATION AND COULD NOT FIND A MOTIVE OR REASON. AT THE END IT WAS ASSIGNED AS VANDALISM. HOWEVER, AFTER FURTHER SEARCHING ONLINE, THERE IS A PENDING LAWSUIT CHRISTINE POWELL VS. SUBARU OF AMERICA DUE TO THIS REASON WHICH IS WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELDS CRACKING OR IMPLODING WITHOUT ANY REASON. SUBARU IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AND EVEN ASKED THE LAWSUIT TO BE DISMISSED. THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINS KEEPS INCREASING AND INSURANCE COMPANIES AND OWNERS HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL TO GET EQUALLY BAD REPLACEMENT WINDOWS. I AM DEEPLY CONCERN FOR THE INTEGRITY OF THE CAR AND ALSO MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY PASSENGERS.*DT CONSUMER STATED MANUFACTURER AGREED TO PAY $100.00 DEDUCTABLE.*JB
FRONT WINDSHIELD HAD CRACK WHICH COMES BY ITSELF
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW LAST YEAR, 2020 FORESTER SPORT. WOKE UP ONE DAY TO HAVING A CRACK OUT OF NOWHERE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD, NO IMPACT SIGN. CRACKED ALL THE WAY UP AND NOW WORKING TO THE SIDE. JUST A WEEK AGO WE HAD A LITTLE ROCK KICK UP FROM A TRUCK ON THE ROAD, NOT VERY BIG NOR GOING VERY FAST, YET IT CRACKED THE GLASS INSTANTLY & DRAMATICALLY YET AGAIN. THE WINDOW SEEMS TO BE EXTRA SENSITIVE AND NOT AS DURABLE AS NORMAL WINDSHIELD GLASS. THIS BECOMES A LARGE EXPENSIVE PROBLEM FOR OWNERS AS REPLACING THE GLASS COST $1000 DUE TO EYESIGHT CALIBRATION. WHEN IT'S BREAKING EVERY FEW MONTHS ON THE SLIGHTEST THINGS, IT'S JUST NOT WORTH IT AND QUITE DANGEROUS. WE ARE DRIVING IT WITH BROKEN GLASS UNTIL SUBARU WILL FIX IT, AS THE REPAIR COSTS ARE JUST TOO HIGH AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT!!
FOR THE 2ND TIME IN A 30 DAY PERIOD I HAVE HAD TO REPAIR MY 2020 SUBARU FORESTER WINDSHIELD DUE TO A CRACK. THE CRACK HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING 1) ON LOCAL ROADS WHEN A VERY SMALL PEBBLE STRUCK THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDSHIELD AND CRACKED IT. IN MY 50 YEARS OF DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A WINDSHIELD CRACK SO EASILY LIKE THIS WITH SUCH A SMALL PEBBLE HIT, AND IT HAPPENED 2X IN A 30 DAY PERIOD (DEC. 09, 2020 1ST REPAIR, AND JAN. 05, 2021 2ND CRACK). SOMETHING IS DEFECTIVE WITH THE STRENGTH AND INTEGRITY OF THIS MFG WINDSHIELD.
MY 2020 FORESTER DEVELOPED 2 CRACKS VERY SUDDENLY. NO IMPACTS, JUST 2 BIG CRACKS AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM. I WALKED OUT FROM WORK AND FOUND ONE, AND WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE SECOND ONE HAD MAGICALLY APPEARED. I HAD TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED ENTIRELY. SUBARU INSISTED IT WAS BECAUSE OF IMPACTS TO THE GLASS AND WOULDN'T DO IT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WANTED $1500 OUT OF POCKET AND FOR ME TO SEEK REIMBURSEMENT VIA MY INSURANCE ON MY OWN. I WENT WITH OEM GLASS FROM SAFELITE, HOPING THAT PERFORMANCE WOULD BE BETTER THAN THE SUBARU GLASS. THE PEOPLE AT SAFELITE WARNED ME THIS LIKELY WOULDN'T BE THE CASE; THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ANGLE/DESIGN OF THE SUBARU FORESTER GLASS WAS FAULTY AND THAT THEY SEE A LOT OF FORESTERS IN THEIR SHOPS FOR WINDSHIELD CHIPS AND CRACKS EVERY WEEK. SURE ENOUGH, 5 MONTHS LATER A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE I WAS GOING ABOUT 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT INSTANTLY TURNED INTO A 5" CRACK THAT REACHED THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I AM NOW HAVING MY SECOND FULL WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT WITHIN 6 MONTHS. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE WINDSHIELD ON MY FORESTER. I KNOW THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST TIME I'M IN FOR A WINDSHIELD REPAIR, AS I LIVE IN A CITY AND DRIVE ON INTERSTATES WITH SEMI-TRUCKS; GETTING THE OCCASIONAL ROCK THROWN UP INTO THE WINDSHIELD IS INEVITABLE. I'VE NEVER DRIVEN A VEHICLE WITH SUCH FRAGILE GLASS.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH, WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ACCELATOR PEDAL MALFUNCTIONED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE REVERSED A LITTLE BIT BEFORE ACCERLATING AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STRUCK A BUILDING AS A RESULT OF THE MALFUNCTIONING ACCELERATOR.. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING YARD. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED, AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.
2020 FORESTER WITH 2800 MILES ON ODOMETER. STARTED CAR IN 26 DEGREE WEATHER AND SAW A CRACK APPEAR ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE WHICH THEN CREPT ACROSS HORIZONTALLY TO A LENGTH OF APPROXIMATELY 18 INCHES AS THE VEHICLE WARMED UP WITH DEFROSTER ON. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURPOSELY PURCHASED FOR IT'S VISIBILITY AND ELECTRONIC VEHICLE SAFETY FEATURES (EYESIGHT). A WINDSHIELD THAT CRACKS SEEMINGLY ON IT'S OWN SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTS THE FUNCTIONALITY, SAFETY AND THE MANUFACTURER'S STATED VALUE OF THIS VEHICLE.
BETWEEN THE TIME AT WHICH I PARKED MY VEHICLE (WITH A FULLY INTACT, UN-CHIPPED WINDSHIELD) IN THE SMALL, PRIVATE PARKING LOT AT MY RURAL PLACE OF WORK, APPROXIMATELY 9:00AM EST ON DECEMBER 31ST, 2020, AND THE TIME AT WHICH I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE, APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS LATER AT 10:45AM EST ON DECEMBER 31ST, 2020, A LARGE CRACK HAD FORMED ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK'S LENGTH WAS APPROXIMATELY 8.5 INCHES IN WIDTH, BEGINNING ON THE EDGE OF THE GLASS APPROXIMATELY 12" FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD AND CONTINUING LATERALLY. THE VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CRACK SPONTANEOUSLY FORMING, IS BRAND NEW AND HAS JUST UNDER 6,000 MILES. I HAVE ALSO BEEN THE SOLE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASING IT BRAND NEW, AND CAN ATTEST THAT NO ROCKS OR PEBBLES HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD.
VEHICLE WAS DRIVING NEXT TO AN RV ON THE FREEWAY. RV KICKED UP SMALL DEBRIS ONTO WINDSHIELD. WINDSHIELD IMMEDIATELY HAD ABOUT 16 INCH CRACK.
WINDSHIELD CRACKS EASILY ON A 2020 SUBARU FORESTER
ON 12/25/20 WE FOUND A CRACK ON OUR WINDSHIELD FROM THE ROOF OF THE CAR TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE CENTER FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. WE ARE CURRENTLY VACATIONING IN WESTERN NC AND THE WEATHER HAS BEEN VERY COLD. WE HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND NO OBJECT HAS HIT THE VEHICLE. WE WERE REASSURED BY THE SUBARU DEALER IT WAS NOT DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER. WE CALLED OUR AAA AUTO INSURANCE TO SCHEDULE A REPLACEMENT/RECALIBRATION AT NO COST. CLAIM # CLM00560639. WE ALSO NOTIFIED TRONCALLI SUBARU IN CUMMING, GA FOR REPAIRS THEY ARE CHARGING >$1100. THE NEAREST SAFELITE AUTO GLASS IS 2.5 HRS AWAY IN UNION CITY, GA. WE HAVE A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT ON 1/8/21. WE ARE VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE CRACKING OF THE WINDSHIELD AND ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED. WE DID NOT EXPECT THE GLASS TO CRACK ON ITS OWN. AS OF TODAY 1/3/21 THE CRACK HAS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY. THE SUBARU WAS PURCHASED ON 3/13/2020 AT DON MEALEY SPORT AT ORLANDO, FLA. WE WOULD APPRECIATE A QUICK RESPONSE TO OUR CLAIM.
COMPLAINT NUMBER 11386410 WINDSHIELD REPLACED NOTED ON RECEIPT 'BROKEN DUE TO STRESS CRACK/DEFECT IN GLASS. NOTHING FROM THE ROAF HIT THE GLASS'
I'VE HAD MY 2020 SUBARU FORESTER FOR UNDER 3 MONTHS AND I'VE PUT LESS THAN 900 MILES ON IT, AND YET I'VE SOMEHOW STILL HIT 3 SMALL ROCKS RESULTING IN 3 CHIPS TO THE WINDSHIELD IMPACTING VISIBILITY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. SAFELITE FILLED THE CHIPS BUT THEY ARE STILL VISIBLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A RESULT OF THE ACOUSTIC GLASS BEING MORE FRAGILE OR PRONE TO CHIPS AND CRACKS.
12/16/2020 DRIVING. 3:30 PM DAYTIME. CLEAR WEATHER. DIVIDED HIGHWAY. APPROX 50 MPH. NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF CAR FOR AT LEAST A QUARTER MILE. CAR INITIATED SUDDEN STOP MODE NEARLY CAUSING A SEVERE REAR END COLLISION (AVOIDED BY APPROACHING DRIVER GOING INTO MEDIAN)
DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON TEXAS STATE ROUTE 249 VERY SMALL PEBBLE HIT WINDSHIELD ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM BOTTOM NEAR CENTER CREATING A STAR LESS THAN 1/4 INCH DIAMETER WITH NO DEPTH. EYESIGHT SYSTEM STILL WORKING. NEXT MORNING AFTER BEING IN GARAGE OVERNIGHT, FOUND A CRACK 14 INCH LONG HAD EXTENDED FROM IMPACT. WILL BE REPAIRED BY INSURANCE AT A SUBARU QUALIFIED GLASS REPAIR FACILITY.

THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS UNAWARE OF WHAT CAUSED THE CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GLASS REPAIR SHOP AND HAD INJECTED A RESIN ON THE GLASS CRACK TO STOP FURTHER CRACKING OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT CALLED SUBARU OF GLENDALE - AMERICA'S #1 SUBARU RETAILER (1308 S BRAND BLVD, GLENDALE, CA 91204; (818) 396-3900) AND THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,800.
WE HAVE HAD OUR 2020 FORESTER FOR 5 MONTHS. COMING HOME FROM A DRIVE TO THE GROCERY STORE, WE NOTICED A TINY CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEN WE PULLED INTO OUR GARAGE. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS ON THE ROADWAY. WE LOOKED ONLINE AND APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WHERE A TINY CRACK DEVELOPS FROM A ROCK OR OTHER SMALL DEBRIS AND THEN WITHIN A DAY OR TWO THERE IS A TWO TO THREE FOOT CRACK ACROSS THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD. WE HAVE DRIVEN OTHER VEHICLES FOR YEARS WITHOUT A TINY PIECE OF DEBRIS CAUSING SO MUCH DAMAGE. THERE IS CLEARLY A FLAW IN HOW THE WINDSHIELDS ARE DEVELOPED (PROBABLY TO SELL THEIR EXPENSIVE WINDSHIELD WARRANTY PLANS). AS THERE IS A POINT OF IMPACT I'M SURE IT WON'T BE COVERED BY ANY OF OUR MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES. THE WHOLE ISSUE THOUGH IS THE LACK OF VISIBLE DEBRIS DURING OUR DRIVE--LITERALLY IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN SOMETHING SMALLER THAN A PEA. IT IS RIDICULOUS TO THINK THAT SUCH A SMALL IMPACT WOULD CAUSE THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD TO FRACTURE. AGAIN, WE HAVE DRIVEN THROUGH DEBRIS WITH OTHER BRANDS IN THE PAST, AND A SMALL IMPACT DID NOT CRACK THE WINDSHIELD AT ALL. WE DID NOT NOTICE THE CRACK UNTIL WE GOT HOME, BUT IT LIKELY OCCURRED WHILE IN MOTION. WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY, BUT NOT A HIGH MPH STRETCH. WE WERE ONLY COMING BACK FROM A COUPLE MILES AWAY FROM OUR HOME, WHERE THE VEHICLE SITS IN THE GARAGE 100% OF THE TIME IT IS NOT BEING DRIVEN.
CRACKED WINDSHIELD. NO APPARENT REASON. HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $1825.
MY CAR DEVELOPED A CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD OVERNIGHT WHEN IT WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THE CRACK WASN'T THERE IN THE NIGHT, AND THE CAR WAS DRIVEN LOCALLY FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS TO GO TO WORK AND BACK. I AM GENERALLY KNOWN TO MY FRIENDS AS ONE OF THE SAFEST DRIVERS AROUND AND I TRY TO DRIVE AS DEFENSIVELY AS POSSIBLE. I DO NOT RECALL ANY DEBRIS OR STONES HITTING MY CAR. THE CRACK IS BIG AND IT CANNOT BE MASKED BY OTHER MEASURES. I DID NOT EXPECT A CAR WHICH I HAVE BEEN DRIVING JUST FOR 2 MONTHS TO DEVELOP SUCH AN ISSUE. ON THE CONTRARY I HAVE OWNED MY 2004 LEXUS ES330 SINCE PAST 5 YEARS BUT NEVER DID I HAVE A SIMILAR DAMAGE LIKE IN 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN THE SAFETY PRACTICES OF THIS COMPANY. THE DEALER THAT SOLD ME THE CAR IS INCOMMUNICADO. I HOPE SOMEONE PICKS THIS UP AND HELPS ME FOOT THE BILL WHICH IS GOING TO INCREASE MY INSURANCE RATE AND TAKE A SIGNIFICANT CHUNK OF MONEY FROM MY POCKET WHICH I COULDN'T HAVE FORESEEN.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON (I.E. WE DID NOT WITNESS ANY PEBBLES, ROCKS OR OTHER DEBRIS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD)
CAME OUT ONE MORNING AND WINDSHIELD HAD A LARGE CRACK AND IT KEEPS GETTING LARGER.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WITHIN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS AND AN OBJECT WE COULD NOT IDENTIFY HIT THE WINDSHIELD ON A SUNDAY. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SMALL ROCK, BUT TWO DAYS LATER ON TUESDAY WE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT CRACK THAT DEVELOPED FROM A SMALL CHIP. I LATER LEARNED AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THAT SUBARU HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THEIR WINDSHIELDS.
Windshield cracks spontaneously. Driving on well maintained roads and brand new car has windshield damage that shows abnormal cracks with no or unknown cause or normal road conditions.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU FORSTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE AND THE FOLLOWING DAY SHE DISCOVERED A 13-14 INCH CRACK IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRACK WAS NOT CAUSED BY AN IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY
A 12 INCH CRACK APPEARED IN THE CENTER OF MY WINDSHIELD, PASSENGER SIDE, STARTING AT THE EDGE, AND GOING HORIZONTALLY TOWARDS THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAD JUST LEFT A SHOP'S PARKING LOT. IT WAS NOT THERE BEFORE PARKING. I DID NOT SPOT IT IMMEDIATELY BUT ONLY AFTER 3 MINUTES DRIVING. THERE WAS NO NOISE OF A HIT OR BREAKAGE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS UNCERTAIN WHETHER THE CRACK WOULD SPREAD TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE - OR ALL OVER THE WINDSHIELD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A DEPOSIT WAS PLACED ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY ALONE AROUND 60 MPH AND WINDSHIELD RANDOMLY CRACKED
I HAVE 2,500 MILES ON THE NEW 2020 SUBARU FORESTER AND A LARGE CRACK APPEARED ON MY WINDSHIELD OVERNIGHT (STATIONARY). NOTHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD. CRACK GOES FROM MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD DOWN TO THE LOWER RIGHT PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD WHERE IT'S HEATED.
I PURCHASED A 2020 SUBARU FORRESTER ON 4-1-2020. 90% OF MY DRIVING IS ON SLOWING MOVING STREET TRAFFIC. ON 11-22-2020SIVER DOLLAR SIZED CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD, LOCATED ON THE VERY CENTER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE SECTION OF THE WINDSHIELD AND 3" ABOVE THE TOP OF THE ENGINE HOOD. I NEVER HEARD ANY ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND ON EXAMINATION OF THE CRACK, I COULD FIND FIND ANY INDENTATION OR CHIP THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE CRACK. ON 11-24-2020, I WENT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE REP, NAMED CORY, LOOKED AT IT AND COULD NOT FEEL OR ANY CRACK THAT WOULD HAVE A STARTED THE CRACK. CORY THEN WENT TO GET HIS SERVICE MANAGER. THE SERVICE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY GOT A PEN AND PUSHED AROUND ON THE CRACK UNTIL HE PUSHED HARD ENOUGH TO SHOW A LESS THAN A 1 MM INDENTATION. HE THEN INDICATED TO ME THAT THIS A OBVIOUS CRACK FROM A ROCK AND THAT I NEEDED TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE AGENT AND PUT IN A CLAIM ON IT. WHEN I SHOWED HIM THE SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE CLASS ACTION SUIT ON WINDSHIELD FAILURES, HE IMMEDIATELY ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND SAID THAT THE BULLETIN CLEARLY SHOWED CRACKS WE A RESULT OF ROCK DAMAGE AND HAD NO APPARENT RELATIONSHIP TO A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD. ALTHOUGH, HE SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE 2 WINDSHIELDS WITHIN THE 2020 YTD. IF A OBJECT THAT WOULD ONLY INFLICT A LESS THAN 1MM INDENTATION, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THE WINDSHIELD AND OTHER SAFETY DEVICES, IF THIS VEHICLE WERE INVOLVED IN A TRUE ACCIDENT OR HAD A SIZABLE PROJECTILE HIT THE VEHICLE. LASTLY, THIS ISN'T THE ON SUBARU I OWN. IN MY FAMILY WE HAVE AN 2015 OUTBACK, A 2017 LEGACY, 2019, CROSSTREK AND THE 2020 FORRESTER. SUBARU HAS ALWAYS JUMPED TO ACTION TO REPLACE OR REPAIR ANY SAFETY ITEMS. THIS REBUTTAL BY SUBARU ON THIS WINDSHIELD CRACK COMES AS A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT REGARDING SUBARU'S CLAIM TO SAFETY.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO AND WITHIN THE FIRST 4,000 MILES OR SO WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE UPON A HIGHWAY WITH NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH, I HEARD A LIGHT CRACK AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. UPON OBSERVATION OF THE WINDSHIELD, I OBSERVED A VERY SMALL CHIP. WITHIN ONE DAY AFTER, THE CHIP BEGAN TO "SPIDER" CRACK IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN AT THE CAR DEALERSHIP IN WHICH I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE, GURLEY LEEP SUBARU IN THE SOUTH BEND/MISHAWAKA, INDIANA AREA, THEY LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELD AND GAVE A PROPOSAL OF ESTIMATED COST OF $1,500 TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. I THEN CONTACTED MY STATE FARM INSURANCE AGENT WHO ADVISED SUBARU HAD A CURRENT "CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT" AGAINST THEM FOR DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELDS THAT CHIP OR CRACK EASILY. STATE FARM ALSO ADVISED THEY HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS SUBARU VEHICLE CUSTOMERS MAKING CLAIMS OF CRACKED WINDSHIELDS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. IF THERE IS AN ISSUE OF DEFECTIVE SUBARU WINDSHIELDS, THEN SUBARU SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD.
A CRACK APPEARED ON MY WINDSHIELD WITH NO CAUSE. NO DEBRIS FLEW UP AND HIT IT TO CAUSE A CRACK OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF DAMAGE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I HEARD A SOUND THAT SOUNDED LIKE GLASS SNAPPING. A TICK SOUND. WHEN I LOOKED UP I SAW TWIST LOOKED LIKE A BEAD OF WATER GOING ACROSS THE WINDOW. IT WASN'T WATER, BUT A CRACK. NOTHING HIT THE WINDOW.
I WAS DRIVING HOME IT WAS DARK AND RAINING. SOMETHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD WHEN I WOKE UP ON SATURDAY I SAW A BIG CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND PARKED ON THE CITY STREET IN TWIN FALLS, IDAHO. THE NEXT MORNING HAD A LARGE CRACK ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE NOT BEEN USING THE HEATER BUT HAVE BEEN USING THE HEATED DRIVER SEAT.
SPONTANEOUS CHIPPING AND CRACKING OF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY. DID NOT HEAR ANY ROCK OR PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD DURING DRIVING. ONCE I STOPPED IN THE GAS STATION TO FILL UP THE TANK I NOTICED A CRACKED STARTING FROM THE MIDDLE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD WHILE I'M CLEANING IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OCEAN SUBARU OF FULLERTON (1100 S EUCLID ST, FULLERTON, CA 92832, (888) 428-2419) HOWEVER, WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,874. CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A STRONG INTERMITTENT WIND WHILE DRIVING.
MY CAR WAS A COUPLE MONTHS OLD. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND A ROCK GLANCED OFF MY WINDSHIELD. IT CRACKED IT. BASED ON THE SIZE OF THE ROCK, IT WAS SMALL, THE WINDSHIELD SEEMS VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO BREAKING. MY PREVIOUS CAR THAT I HAD FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS ENCOUNTERED MUCH LARGER STONES AND I NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK ON ME. THE REPAIR WAS OVER $1,500. IT SEEMS LIKE QUITE THE MONEY GRAB BY SUBARU.
WINDSHIELD ISSUE - ON 10/24/20 DISCOVERED APPROX. 2 FT. CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD OF OUR 2020 SUBARU FORRESTER. NO IDEA WHEN CRACK ACTUALLY HAPPENED. NO OBVIOUS DEBRIS FROM THE ROAD STUCK THE WINDSHIELD WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN. CAR STAYS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE UNLESS IT'S BEING DRIVEN. CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 9/26/20 AND HAD APPROX.1000 MILES ON ODOMETER WHEN THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. WE ASSUMED IT WAS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND TOOK TO DEALER LATER THAT WEEK. THEY IMMEDIATELY TOLD US A ROCK MUST HAVE HIT IT AND WE HAD TO GET IT FIXED - NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY THE CRACK IS GETTING LARGER, SO WE HAVE APPT. TO GET WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND PAY $500 INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE. CAN SCAN AND SEND INSURANCE/INVOICE PAPERWORK ONCE REPAIR IS COMPLETE IF NEEDED.
MY SUBARU FORESTER 2020 ALL OF A SUDDEN HAD A BIG CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD STARTING FROM THE TOP EDGE TO THE MIDDLE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON THE STREET FOR 5 DAYS. NO PRIOR DENT ON IT OR CRACK. I CALLED SUBARU AND ONE OF THE STAFF HAD MENTIONED THEY HAVE A THIN WINDOW MATERIAL DUE TO THE DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEM. I'VE HAD MY SCION TC 2007 WHICH GOT HIT WITH MANY THINGS AND NEVER RECEIVED THIS TYPE OF CRACK ON THE WINDOW. I NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDOW AND I ALWAYS PARK OUTSIDE IN A HOT LOS ANGELES WEATHER. I NOW LIVE IN THE BAY AREA AND IT IS COLDER HERE. HOPING TO HAVE THIS REPLACED BY SUBARU AS PART OF A DEFECT.
LED ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHTS BLIND ONCOMING DRIVERS. I HAVE MANY DRIVERS FLASHING THEIR HIGH BEAMS AT ME WHEN DRIVING ON LOW BEAM SETTING WITH FOG LIGHTS OFF. NEW CARS WITH LED HEADLIGHTS UNLESS ON FLAT ROADS CAUSE TEMPORARY BLINDNESS IN PEOPLE WITH SENSITIVE EYES DURING HOURS OF DARKNESS. ANYTIME THESE VEHICLES ARE ON A GRADE, THE BEAM AND COLOR OF THE LIGHT IS VERY INTENSE. WHEN THESE LIGHTS ARE NOT ADJUSTED CORRECTLY, SAY AFTER SOMEONE ALTERS A VEHICLE (LIFT, LOWER,ETC) THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY BLINDING. I KNOW THERE ARE MANY STUDIES THAT SHOW THE WHITER/BLUE COLOR ON THE SPECTRUM, THAT HUMAN EYES ARE NOT MEANT TO ADAPT. EXAMPLE, BLUE LCD DISPLAYS ON APPLIANCES ARE MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE THAN RED OR GREEN. YES THE LIGHTS ON MY WIFE'S SUBARU MAKES IT EASIER TO SEE FOR US, HOWEVER IT IS BAD FOR EVERYONE ELSE. IT IS ALSO DIFFICULT TO SEE DIRECTIONAL SIGNALS IN THE HEADLAMP HOUSING WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. I KNOW THIS WILL NOT LIKELY CHANGE ANYTHING, I'M AFRAID THESE LIGHTS WILL CAUSE IMPAIRED OR FATIGUED DRIVERS A BETTER CHANCE OF BEING INVOLVED IN HEAD ON CRASHES WITH THE VEHICLE WITH BRIGHTER LIGHTS. THIS IS A STUDY THAT SHOULD BE INVESTED, SUCH AS WAS DONE WITH EMERGENCY VEHICLES LIGHTS.

WIRING HARNESS, TRANSMISSION, SOY BASED - DESTROYED BY RODENTS AT 600 MILES, 9 MONTHS. VEHICLE ON HOME DRIVE, DAYLIGHT, AS OUR BASEMENT WAS REPAIRED FROM FLOOD DAMAGE. 1 WEEK ON DRIVEWAY.
