PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG CONSISTENTLY TURNS OFF WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT BOTH HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS - HAVE NOTICED IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WHEN THE PASSENGER HAS DAMP CLOTHING ON. THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD, AND WILL REMAIN OFF UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. ADDITIONAL RESEARCH HAS LED ME TO BELIEVE THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE TYPE OF PASSENGER DETECTION ASSOCIATED WITH THE AIRBAG.
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND I TRY TO ATTEMPT TO TAKE THE KEY OUT. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST 4 TIMES A WEEK WHEN I DRIVE, DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG I'VE DRIVEN FOR OR ANYTHING. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE KEY DOESN'T COME OUT, IT USUALLY TAKES 3-5 TRIES OF TURNING THE CAR BACK ON, SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND BACK TO PARK FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT. EACH TIME I TRY, I MAKE SURE THAT THE BUTTON ON THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB NOT STILL PRESSED DOWN AND THAT THE KNOB IS SHIFTED ALL THE WAY INTO PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU IMPREZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE KEY INTERMITTENTLY REMAINED STUCK INSIDE THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND EXCESSIVE EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT CALLED SUBARU SANTA MONICA (1229 SANTA MONICA BLVD, SANTA MONICA, CA 90404) AND WAS INFORMED HER THAT THERE WAS A COST FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
THE TRUNK LOCKING SYSTEM FAILS, RESULTING IN THE TRUNK RELEASING. THERE IS SIGNIFICANT COMPLAINT OF THIS ISSUE FROM THE SUBARU COMMUNITY AS WELL.
WHEN I STOP MY CAR AND PUT IT INTO PARK, I CANNOT TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY TO THE LOCK POSITION, AND THEREFORE CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE CAR IS NOT BELIEVING THAT IT IS ACTUALLY IN PARK. I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR, DRIVE A LITTLE BIT, AND TRY AGAIN. THIS IS HAPPENING WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY AND IS BOTH A SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUE IF THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED. I DO NOT KNOW THE FIRST DATE IT HAPPENED.
WHEN TURNING OFF CAR AND IN PARK IGNITION SWITCH GETS STUCK AT ACC AND WILL NOT GO TO LOCK POSITION. YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE KEY. YOU HAVE TO CONTINUALLY TRY TO TURN KEY ON AND OFF AND JIGGLE THE SHIFTER. THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC CVT ENGINE AS WELL. CAR HAS ONLY 31,000 MILES/2015 MODEL YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU IMPREZA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AUTOBAHN SUBARU OF COUNTRYSIDE (6191 JOLIET RD, COUNTRYSIDE, IL 60525, (708) 497-3999) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS AND BDC CONTROL MODULES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
A CVT DEFECT IS CAUSING ERRATIC, UNCONTROLLABLE, AND VIOLENT CHANGES IN ENGINE RPM, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: RAPID VIOLENT OSCILLATIONS IN RPM, NON-SHIFTING, SUSTAINED HOLDING OF RPM NEAR ENGINE RED-LINE, ABRUPT DECREASES OF RPM AND SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF POWER DESPITE THE ACCELERATOR IS STILL BEING APPLIED. THESE DEFECTS HAVE OCCURRED UNDER AN ARRAY OF DRIVING CONDITIONS, SPEEDS, THROTTLE POSITIONS, ROAD GRADIENTS, AMBIENT TEMPERATURES, ALTITUDES, AND ENGINE TEMPERATURES. SUBARU WAS PROVIDED WITH VIDEOS OF THE DASHBOARD GAUGES TAKEN DURING MALFUNCTIONS, AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THEM TO HAVE THE ISSUES ASSESSED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. SUBARU COMPLETED TCM "RE-FLASHING", ECM UPDATES, AND SOFTWARE UPDATES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS WITH NO EFFECT. CVT MALFUNCTIONS HAVE GRADUALLY INCREASED IN SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY OVER THE PAST 20,000 MILES. THE REPEATED, SUDDEN, AND VIOLENT MALFUNCTIONS OF THE CVT HAVE PUT THE OCCUPANTS AT RISK OF COLLISION ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND IN ONE INSTANCE AN ABRUPT DOWNSHIFT CAUSED A MINOR NECK INJURY TO A DISABLED PASSENGER.
2015 SUBARU IMPREZA. CONSUMER IS UNABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. *LD *JS
THERE WAS A LARGE POTHOLES ON THE ENTRANCE INTO FREEWAY 280 ON GENEVA AVENUE, THE SPOT WAS LOCATED AT THE MERGING LINE POINT. WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON 19JAN18, MY VEHICLE RAN DIRECTLY THROUGH THIS POTHOLES, AND THERE WAS A HUGE SOUND FROM MY RIGHT FRONT WHEEL HITTING THE EDGE OF THE POTHOLES. AFTER I STOPPED MY VEHICLE, I FOUND OUT THE TIE THAT HIT THE HOLE WAS DAMAGE, AND IT WILL BE REALLY HAVING A TIRE BURST ON THE ROAD IF I KEEP DRIVING LIKE THIS. I WILL UPLOAD THE PICTURE OF MY DAMAGED TIE, THAT IS THE REASON I FILE THIS COMPLAINT. PLEASE COMPENSATE MY LOST BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT MY MISTAKE. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
FRONT OVERHEAD INTERIOR LIGHT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. IT WAS AT NIGHT, I WAS VISITING, I CALLED SUBARU FOR HELP. RESPONSE ; CALL BACK TOMORROW. I PRIED THE PLASTIC COVER OFF AND TOOK OUT THE BULB. DEALERSHIP RESPONSE WAS ' LEAVE IT ON, THE NEXT MORNING WHEN THE BATTERY IS DEAD, CALL OUR ROAD SIDE SERVICE AND WE WILL CHARGE YOUR BATTERY.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION'S WIRING HARNESS MAY HAVE BEEN AFFECTED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE FULLY DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,520. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR FAILS TO PROPERLY IDENTIFY A HUMAN IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MORE THAN HALF THE TIME SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS NOT ACTIVATED. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, STATIONARY, AND ON IN STREET TYPES OR STREET CONDITIONS. THE AIR BAG ALSO FREQUENTLY ACTIVATES WHEN NO ONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR IS DANGEROUSLY BADLY DESIGNED. IT USES A CAPACITANCE SENSOR TO DETERMINE IF AN OBJECT WITH A SIMILAR CAPACITANCE TO A HUMAN IS IN THE SEAT. HOWEVER, THE CAPACITANCE OF A HUMAN CHANGES DRAMATICALLY DEPENDING ON THE COMPOSITION OF THAT PERSON'S BODY, THE CLOTHES THAT PERSON IS WEARING, IF THEY ARE HOLDING AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE, OR TOUCHING SOME PART OF THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD GROUND THEM. THE TRADITIONAL WEIGHT SENSORS USED IN ALMOST ALL OTHER VEHICLES ARE A TIME-TESTED AND ROBUST DESIGN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU IMPREZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SHIFTING INTO PARK, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER GRAND PRIX SUBARU LOCATED AT 500 S BROADWAY, HICKSVILLE, NY 11801, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
My windshield cracked on its own, with no cause, chip, etc.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU IMPREZA. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE SUN ROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THE GLASS SHATTERED AND FELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN ROOF BLOCKED THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH MADE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR THE CONTACT TO SEE THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

THE HOOD WAS PUSHED BACK DOWN AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE HOOD MIGHT NOT BE CLOSED PROPERLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,800.

VEHICLE STATIONARY, ENGINE AT IDLE, AWAITING LEFT HAND TURN. TURN STEERING WHEEL LEFT, ATTEMPT TO ACCERERATE, ENGINE TEMPORARILY STALLS. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR OTHER DEFECTIVE RELAYS. IS THIS A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP RELAY?
MOON ROOF EXPLODED. LIKE A GUN SHOT GOING OFF. GLASS CASCADED DOWN ON ME AND MY WIFE. ALMOST KILLED.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, AFTER TWO WEEKS THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSED THE CLUTCH AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,600.
A CRACK APPEARED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD, COMING UP FROM THE BOTTOM, AFTER NO IMPACT, WHILE PARKED AT A GAS PUMP. WHEN PARKED IN THE SUN THE NEXT DAY THE CRACK GREW FROM A LINEAR 8 INCHES TO A LINEAR 18 CURVED FROM A VERTICAL CRACK TO A HORIZONTAL CRACK AFTER THE FIRST 9 INCHES. SUBARU APPARENTLY HAS WINDSHIELDS ON BACK-ORDER SO THE CAR IN UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN WITHOUT REDUCED VISIBILITY FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME UNTIL THEY CAN GET A SUBARU WINDSHIELD TO REPLACE MY MYSTERIOUSLY CRACKED ONE, WITHOUT VOIDING THE WARRANTY.
SUBARU EYESIGHT WILL LOCK UP BRAKES WHEN ACTIVELY BEING ENGAGED AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU MAKES 90 DEGREE RIGHT TURN AS IF THE CAR WAS STILL IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU WERE ABOUT TO CRASH INTO IT. BUT IT ISN'T THERE INSTEAD YOU WILL BE CRASHED INTO FROM THE REAR. IT WILL DO THIS EVERY TIME GUARANTEED. JUST SET FOLLOWING DISTANCE TO 1.1 SEC GET BEHIND A CAR DOING OVER 25 MPH AND ENJOY. DEALERSHIP INSISTS THAT HOW IT SUPPOSE TO WORK. IF THIS WAS SUBARU'S INTEND IN ANY WAY IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. HITTING GAS PEDAL WON'T HELP IT WILL ONLY REV UP THE ENGINE BUT CAR KEEPS BRAKING.
SOON AFTER DELIVERY, THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE LAG ( 2-20 SECONDS) BETWEEN THE TIME THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED AND WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. AT TIMES THIS LEAD TO DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THE ACCELERATOR MODULE WAS REPLACED ( NOT AT DEALER) AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS FOR A TIME, NOW THE SAME LAG HAS BEGUN TO OCCUR AT RANDOM TIMES, ESPECIALLY AFTER SLOWING TO LESS THAN 20 MILES PER HOUR. NOTE:-- THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR ONE OF TWO DRIVERS OF THE CAR. APPARENTLY THE POSITION OF THE DRIVER'S FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE. NEVER HAS THIS DRIVER HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM IN MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF DRIVING ALL TYPES OF VEHICLES ( THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, NOT A SINGLE OR ISOLATED EVENT.)
SUNDAY MORNING, JUNE 21, 2015. RAINED OVERNIGHT AND WAS STILL RAINING MODERATELY HARD WHEN WE LEFT FOR OUR FIRST OVERNIGHT TRIP IN OUR NEW (1300 MILES) 2015 IMPREZA. ABOUT 1/4 MILE FROM OUR HOME, ON A PAVED, WELL TRAVELED STREET, TRAVELING SLIGHTLY UNDER THE POSTED 30 MPH SPEED LIMIT, WE RAN THRU SOME STANDING WATER ON THE ROAD. IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A COUPLE OF INCHES DEEP. AFTER THE INITIAL WHOOSH, THERE WAS A CONTINUING ROAR, AS IF WATER WAS SPLASHING UP ON THE CAR UNDERSIDE. ALTHOUGH THE ROAD WAS WET THERE WAS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THIS WAS HAPPENING. AFTER ABOUT 300 YARDS OF THIS NOISE WE MADE A LEFT TURN INTO A SIDE STREET. THE NOISE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AND WE CIRCLED AROUND AND PROCEEDED ON OUR TRIP. AFTER ABOUT 50 MILES OF INTERSTATE 65 MPH TRAVEL, WE BEGAN TO NOTICE THUMPING NOISES LIKE WE WERE RIDING ON AN OLD CONCRETE ROAD WITH TARRED JOINTS (WE WERE NOT). WE PULLED INTO THE BREAK DOWN LANE AND I GOT OUT AND LOOKED UNDER CAR AND UNDER THE HOOD. NOISE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AT THAT POINT. FINDING NO ISSUES, WE CONTINUED ANOTHER 80 MILES TO OUR DESTINATION ON WET AND DRY ROADS. UPON ARRIVING, MADE A SIDE TRIP OF 20 MORE MILES OF INTERSTATE DRIVING. WE HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE ROARING NOISES FROM TIME TO TIME AND WHICH REDUCED WHEN WE SLOWED TO AROUND 50 MPH. NEXT DAY, ON THE RETURN TRIP HOME WE HEARD MORE ROARING NOISES, WHICH GOT SUBSTANTIALLY WORSE AFTER A FEW MILES. IT WAS WARM AND DRY AT THAT TIME. FINALLY, IT GOT TO MAKING LOUD POPPING AND SLAPPING NOISES. THIS TIME IT WAS CLEARLY COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE MORE TO THE REAR. WE SLOWED TO 50 MPH AND TOOK THE FIRST EXIT WITH SERVICES, I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, LAID ON THE HOT TARMAC AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR. I FOUND A FLIMSY PLASTIC SHIELD HAD SPLIT LENGTHWISE ABOUT 3 FEET AND WAS BEAT UP FROM ROAD CONTACT ON THE FRONT END.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU IMPREZA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE AIR PRESSURE WAS LOW ON MULTIPLE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO YOUNG SUBARU LOCATED AT 3920 RIVERDALE RD, OGDEN, UT 84405, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE FAULTY. THE VALVE STEMS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACTED INDICATED THAT OVER THE YEARS, THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. IT WAS ALSO DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CAUSED BY FAULTY TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ICE FROM A SEMI-TRAILER ON 1/27/2015. THE VEHICLE WENT THROUGH THE INSURANCE PROCESS, WAS IN THE COLLISION REPAIR SHOP FOR 23 DAYS, AND WAS RETURNED TO ME WITH A HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY THAT WAS EPOXIED TOGETHER. IT IS NOW APPROACHING 90 DAYS SINCE THE INITIAL ACCIDENT. SUBARU OF AMERICA, THE DEALER THAT SOLD THE VEHICLE TO ME, AND THE COLLISION REPAIR CENTER WHICH IS ANOTHER LOCAL SUBARU DEALER ALL INDICATE THAT REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES FOR THE 2015 SUBARU IMPREZA ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I NEED TO FIND OUT THE POTENTIAL SAFETY DEFICIENCIES FOR THIS 2015 SUBARU IMPREZA WITH A DAMAGED HEADLIGHT THAT HAS BEEN EPOXIED BACK TOGETHER AND RE-INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE THAT HAD 700 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT ON 1/27/2015, AND NOW HAS 5900 MILES DUE TO MY . 100 MILE ROUNDTRIP DAILY COMMUTE FOR WORK. *TR
IMPREZA WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN THE DEFROSTER WAS TURNED ON IN COLD WEATHER THE CAR WAS PARKED IN HOTEL PARKING LOT IN BOISE ID. IT WAS SNOWING OVERNIGHT AND THERE WAS ABOUT AN INCH OR TWO OF ICE ON THE CAR WINDSHIELD. TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS ABOUT 20F. WE SCRAPED OUT THE ICE ON THE SCREEN AND TURNED ON THE DEFROSTER (BOTH FRONT AND BACK). WHILE DRIVING ONCE ALL THE ICE WAS MELTED, WE NOTICED A CRACK STARTING FROM THE RIGHT BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD (NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE). SUBARU DEALERS WERE NOT HELPFUL AND DIAGNOSED IT DUE TO ROCKS IMPACT, INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD THROUGH WARRANTY. THE CRACK HAS BEEN SPREADING EVER SINCE AND REQUIRES A REPLACEMENT (WITHIN 2500 MILES), COSTING $658. *TR
