Subaru Safety Recall WRG-22 is more than a year and a half old. I have checked status regularly. In October 2023, I attempted to contact Subaru and listened to music for 10 minutes. I also contact NHTSA and spoke with a young lady who was quite rude. This recall is not being handled in a timely manner by Subaru or NHTSA. This tool is the only one I could find to report the delay. "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or TTY: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA."

Bought this car 1 year ago at East Hills Subaru. Among other problems such as water leaking inside vehicle due to clogged drains, most recent issue is the steering column not locking firmly. This is causing the steering wheel to shift up or down while driving, even though locking mechanism under steering wheel column is engaged. The car has under 40k miles. The safety of the driver is at risk here as the shifting movement of the steering wheel affect proper steering. Dealer is unable to give me a reasonable appointment to address this and only has drop off service, no loaner cars available. I am not happy with the Subaru service department and the inability of this service department to address serious issues in a timely matter.
The headlights on my vehicle are incredibly dim. Subaru issued a recall about this in August 2022 and I have been constantly asking my local dealerships and Subaru of America to get this address. They have repeatedly told me I will be receiving a letter in the mail when they have the parts to fix the issues. It has almost been 2 years and Subaru still doesn't have the parts... I'm not sure what to do at this point other than submit a complaint as they seem like they have no interest in addressing this recall.
Last August, a recall on Subaru Impreza headlamps was issued. To date, these have not been remedied and Subaru has no information about repair dates.

Suspected defective and/or faulty brake booster or brake hose on the front left tire. Car starts violently shaking/shuddering when easing onto the brakes (once the brakes have warmed up for my daily commute to work). Resulting vibrations travel up the steering column to the steering wheel, and into the cabin. The car will then pitch its nose in various directions; it feels as though the front left brake is being grabbed and not properly released. Taken to a Subaru dealership multiple times. New brakes and rotors installed in July 2022; other components of the brake (calipers, pistons) were inspected in Aug. 2022 and appeared fine. However, on inspection (08/2022) the newly replaced rotor on the front left tire was already showing visible wear/damage (white scalding) due to excessive heat generated while braking. I have taken the car to be serviced at a dealership multiple times & have been told the shaking "couldn't be replicated." I recreate it every day I drive to work (350 miles every week). *Please* see the video linked to a third-party website: https://imgur.com/a/wFvLV0A Other symptoms: The engine starts and runs roughly despite recent oil changes. OBDII code P0300 (Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected) was detected by a personal OBDII scanner, although I don’t know if that issue is related. Ignition timing advance for the 1st cylinder is near red zone. Please help..

I have had an open recall on my vehicle since August 12, 2022 with no remedy available still as of May 4, 2023. The page says to file a complaint if the manufacturer does not issue a remedy quickly.
Subaru appears to be in no great hurry to remidy this recall. I have called them twice. This is safety related.
Got a recall notice about my headlamps almost a year ago, everytime I go on nhtsa.gov it always says "Remedy not yet available". It also says "Recall data refreshed on Aug 17,2022"--have there been any updates to this data since then? Seems like this recall was put out there and then forgotten about.

2017-2019 model year Impreza vehicles, which may contain non-compliant headlamp assemblies. It has been almost 2 years with no solution to this problem. it is stated that the dealership will replace the recalled headlights, but they are doing nothing. No timeline on a solution is given and risk only increases as the car gets older. i just want what i paid for a safe vehicle that works.

This issue is from Aug 2022 - my front lights are low that makes it hard to see when the weather is upon us like rain/snow/fog. Other cars barely can see my lights are on. I have a DMV check in 2 months and thought this may not let it pass.
Received notice in August 2022 that there is a safety concern with this car's headlamp. There is still no remedy available. I am concerned for my safety while driving because they headlights are very dim and it's hard to see at night putting my safety and the safety of others at risk. 9 months to develop a new headlamp seems extreme for a car manufacturer.
It has been over a year since the recall was issued for my vehicle. Subaru has yet to make the remedy available in my area. It’s been over a year now and Subaru dealerships near me say that they still have no idea of when the remedy will become available. I replaced my driver side headlight assembly shortly before the recall was issued. Subaru informed me that I could receive a refund for the part that I paid for (headlight assembly) due to the recall.
There is an open recall on my car for the headlights which currently has no fix and none of the dealerships I've spoken to have the parts to fix it. At one dealership they even attempted to sell me new headlights, claiming that the dimness of my headlights has to do with the fact that they're not LED bulbs and not the recall. The car is unsafe to drive at night due to the fact that they are very dim, and when the weather is bad the car can't be driven at all due to the fact that you can't see anything let alone that other drivers can't see this car. No dealership will provide any information other than they don't have the parts.
There is an open recall on my vehicle. It has been open since August of 2022. They have yet to come up with a remedy and it seems like it is a safety issue. Vin [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My wife's 2018 Impreza premium has had an open recall on it since August 0f 2022. It has been almost 2 years now. The recall, 22V624000 is a serious safety concern since it's about the car's headlights not functioning properly. Even with no obvious symptoms, I'm terrified for my wife to drive in the dark. Just last year I saw headlight assemblies for her model available for sale on Subaru's OEM website....so I'm not understanding why there's no remedy still.
after less than two years into my lease, the car was completely 'dead'. I could not start it or 'jump' it. It cost me out of pocket money to have it towed 50 miles to dealership. They replaced battery. They car was recalled a year or so. Took it into dealership for repair. After I noticed that automatic headlight dimmer would not work.-Still doesn't. 2 weeks ago, car would not start. Was told again by dealer that car had to be brought in. Was referred to 'roadside service company' Was quoted an ' out of pocket' charge of $644 to tow vehicle to dealership. Since I could not do that, decided to order battery myself for $260. waiting for battery to arrive
The contact owns a 2018 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that the front windshield was cracked. The contact was unsure what caused the windshield to crack since the vehicle was rarely driven. The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer for an inspection. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 81,500.
While parked at a roadside rest for the night I heard a sound similar to cracking but didn’t think anything of it. The next day when the sun came up I noticed the windshield was cracking and had a few chips in it. The chips were not the cause of the cracking and came along the cracks but we’re not centrally located to the cracks meaning they were caused by the windshield cracking. The night before the defrost was on cold because it had been raining and it was warm outside. I immediately took photos. I have been unable to repair the windshield considering it costs over 1000.00 and my insurance doesn’t cover defects in the quality of parts used on the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2018 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that after he poured water onto the windshield to wash the windshield, the windshield shattered. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
Rear view mirror fell off while driving. There was no impact or otherwise cause for this to fall off. The mirror took a chunk of glass from the front windshield with it. Very dangerous.
Windshield cracked for not apparent reason. Parked car, places visor up, came back to car, took visor down and immediately noticed the crack. I do not remember any rocks hitting the windshield at that spot and I did not notice it at all until this morning when returning to my car. Very unusual.
The windshield on my 2018 Impreza car cracked on the lower left drivers side. The crack was unexpected and was not triggered by anything. It arrived out of no where. There is no chip or indentation. Crack is about the length of 2 dollar bills. I feel this is a manufacturing defect and should be paid for by Subaru. This is absolutely faulty craftsmanship and I am extremely disappointed with the durability considering I take excellent care of my vehicle and have had it for less than 1 year! Not to mention, I do not even want to think about the lack of protection this windshield would have provided me if I were ever been in an accident. As a mother, I prefer to drive a vehicle that is safe with my 2 year old daughter in the back seat. I read that there is an ongoing lawsuit with Subaru concerning 2017-2019 vehicles with windshield defects. I am not the only individual experiencing this. Not to mention, this is not an expense I was prepared for and shouldn’t have to be, if Subaru would make a windshield that was not faulty and safe for its consumers! Subaru needs to make this right and be considerate of its consumers.
I have had 3 windshields crack (all in the Winter months) for no reason with this Impreza. On December 4 2021, I turned on the car and while still in park, a 5" crack started growing from the bottom of the front windshield upward. The crack was not there when I started the car and during the day it grew to 8". This repair costs $1000 each time and from what I have read, Subaru is aware that this is not an isolated incident with these windshields. I complain each time that the windshields are defective and that vehicles I have that are 10 years old have not had a windshield crack or be relaced. Even a Subaru employee joked I should trade before getting another cracked windshield this Winter. I should have heeded that advice.
The contact owns a 2018 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in the driveway and as he sat in the vehicle, he noticed that there was a crack on the passenger’s side of the windshield. The contact looked around but could not determine the cause of the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to an independent mechanic for repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.
Front windshield cracked for no reason.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the headlights were very dim, which made driving at night very dangerous. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The windshield is cracked for the 3rd time without anything hitting it. The past 2 times i have taken it to the Dealer for repair and made them aware of it. I have receipts in my possession showing the cost of replacement from my previous 2 windshields i have replaced from the dealership. Currently the windshield cracked yesterday while it was parked on 6/6/21. No damage to the vehicle was noticed prior to this time. This will be the 3rd windshield i will have to replace at my own cost. I am worried about my safety after the fact the windshield has cracked 3 times and wonder if it's going to happen while I am driving. There was no prior warning for each time it has cracked.
I LEASE A 2018 SUBARU IMPREZA, WHICH CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 14,000 MILES. SINCE JANUARY 2021, IT'S BATTERY HAS FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER (DUNNING SUBARU IN ANN ARBOR, MI) AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS INSTALLED 4 NEW BATTERIES. THEIR DIAGNOSIS HAS BEEN THAT AS LONG AS I DON'T DRIVE MORE OFTEN AND FARTHER (IN THESE VAGUE TERMS) MY CAR'S BATTERY WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL. THE LAST TIME I TOOK MY CAR TO GET IT FIXED AFTER IT STRANDED ME, ON APRIL 16, THE DEALERSHIP AND SUBARU OF AMERICA'S CONSUMER ADVOCATE OFFICE BOTH SUGGESTED THAT I PURCHASE AN OFF-MARKET BATTERY TENDER TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. THIS MEANS THAT THEY ANTICIPATE THEIR CAR BATTERY WILL FAIL WITH MY CURRENT DRIVING NEEDS. IN OTHER WORDS, THE VEHICLE IS UNRELIABLE. BUT FROM THEIR PERSPECTIVE, I AM AT FAULT FOR NOT DRIVING MORE.
THE RUBBER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD FROM END TO END IS NOT SECURE PROPERLY. I BOUGHT IT 2/8/2021. MY FIRST TIME WASHING IT WAS 4/12/2021 WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE RUBBER IS LOOSE
OEM BATTERY FAILED AND LEFT DRIVER STRANDED IN NOV 2020. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY AT THAT TIME. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY AGAIN TODAY, 04/02/2021 BECAUSE IT WAS ALSO FAILING. DEALER WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ISSUE WAS WITH CAR. SIMPLY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTINUE TO REPLACE FAILED BATTERIES IF WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. WHEN BATTERY FAILS, CAR IS UNRESPONSIVE TO ANY/ALL COMMANDS.
THEY WERE TOWING MY CAR, AND THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS ONE PLACE TO GRAB IT, WHEN THE TOWING SERVICE WAS GOING TO RELEASE MY CAR THIS PLACE TO GRAB IT BROKE AND RELEASED, AND EJECTED THE CAR, IF NOT FOR THE HANDBRAKE IT HAD HAPPENED A FATAL ACCIDENT, A CAR FROM 2018 THAT HAS THESE FAULTS, I DON'T THINK SO, NOW THEY MUST PAY FOR THE DAMAGES TO THE 2 VEHICLES, WHICH IS NOT WHAT IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE THIS IS A FACTORY DAMAGE I'M SURE, I HAVE VIDEOS, PHOTOS, EVERYTHING, THIS WAS IN COLORADO AND IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS GOING TO LEAVE MY CAR AT THE DEALER, IT COULD HAPPEN IN ANOTHER PLACE AND IT COULD ATTEMPT WITH SOMEONE'S LIFE
