BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2017 AND I HAD MY BATTERY REPLACED 2.5 YEARS LATER DUE TO LOW BATTERY, MULTIPLE JUMPSTARTS, FAILURE STARTING, AND SEVERE CORROSION. THE REPLACEMENT BATTERY WAS FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WITHIN 6 MONTHS IT HAD SEVERE CORROSION. DURING SERVICE THE CORROSION WAS CLEARED, BUT RETURNED BY THE TIME THE NEXT SERVICE WAS DUE. I WAS ASKED TO PAY $57 TO CLEAR THE CORROSION WHICH I DECLINED BECAUSE I THOUGHT SINCE I GOT THE BATTERY BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY WOULD DO IT FOR FREE. 2 SERVICES LATER (1 YEAR) THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDS BATTERY SERVICE AT $90 DUE TO SEVERE CORROSION. WITHIN THAT YEAR, I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH LOW VOLTAGE. SUBARU HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE WITH THE BATTERY CORROSION AND THEY KEEP PUSHING A PAY-FOR BATTERY SERVICE.
FRONT END COLLISION AIR BAD DID NOT DEPLOY FACE DAMAGE
The key frequently gets stuck in the ignition. It takes several attempts to release the key. Turning the wheel to ensure the wheel isn’t locked and turning the ignition/car on does not help release the key from ignition.
The contact owns a 2017 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that there was air noises coming into the vehicle from the vents of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that they believed the noises were coming from near the mirrors of the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
LOCK IS NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY WHERE IT WILL SOMETIMES JAM. THIS MEANS THAT PERSON CANNOT OPEN DOOR. IN A FIRE OR ACCIDENT COULD BECOME TRAPPED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 SUBARU LEGACY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, A SECOND VEHICLE T-BONE CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. DURING THE CRASH, THE DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG DID NOT IMMEDIATELY DEPLOY CAUSING THE DRIVERS HEAD TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE INTERIOR OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE AIR BAG THEN DEPLOYED DOWN ONTO THE HEAD OF THE DRIVER CAUSING THE DRIVER ADDITIONAL INJURIES AND ALSO CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BECOMING ENTRAPPED BY THE AIR BAG. DURING THE CRASH THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO BOTH SIDES OF THE HEAD WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.*DT
HAD VEHICLE PARKED IN GARAGE WITH NO CHIPS OR CRACKS IN WINDSHIELD.NEXT MORNING WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED.CRACKS APPEARED FROM BEHIND MIRROR OUTWARD.CHECKED FOR ANY CHIPS NONE WERE FOUND.NO REASON FOR GLASS TO CRACK.
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE CARS FRONT WINDSHIELD TWICE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE DEALER. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKS WITH THE SLIGHTEST IMPACT FROM A SMALL PIECE OF DEBRIS OR ROCK WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.
OUR CAR'S WINDSHIELD HAS HAD MANY RANDOM CRACKS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, 4 TIMES NOW WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SPONTANEOUS CRACKS MORE SO THAN IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED. TODAY WE FOUND A NEW CRACK TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE, AS LARGE AS MY PALM GOING TWO SEPARATE WAYS AND WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY OR HOW IT HAPPENED. THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING WHEN WE NOTICED THIS, IT WAS ONLY UNTIL AFTER IT WAS PARKED DID WE SEE THIS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE MODEL OF THIS CAR AND AM CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY IF IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT LOW SPEED.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY AFTER STARTING THE CAR. SUBARU DOESN'T RECOGNIZE LEGACY AS PART OF THE WINDSHIELD ISSUE. THE COST TO REPAIR IS $1000+ WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT FROM SUBARU ON A KNOWN ISSUE. THE CRACK STARTED FROM UNDER THE PLASTIC COVER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSENGER SIDE.
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE ONCE THE CAR IS PLACED IN PARK. I CAN NOT TURN THE CAR OFF BECAUSE THE KEY CAN NOT BE MOVED TO THE LOCK POSITION. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, BUT I HAD TO PICK A DATE SO I PICKED THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE. I KNOW FROM ONLINE SEARCHES THAT OTHER SUBARU OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM
BATTERY DRAIN
Jan 2021 my battery died. So I called AAA and they were able to replace it. Then last year I received a notice of a problem with batteries. I submitted a claim with the SUBARU BATTERY SETTLEMENT. I submitted my receipts. They denied my claim stating that I did not use a Subaru authorized dealer AND that I did not notify Subaru 10 days PRIOR to the new battery. I am at a loss to understand how this Settlement is working. I did not anticipate the battery dying. I needed to be able to drive, so I called AAA who I think is generally reputable. Do people actually call the car manufacturer and wait 10 days to put in a new battery? This is a joke. I appealed and they denied it twice. How can this be??
TIRE SIZE - 225/50R19. MY 2017 SUBARU LEGACY HAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000 MILES. AS I HAND WASH MY CAR I NOTICED THAT ALL 4 TIRES HAVE SIGNIFICANT CRACKS ON THE SIDEWALL. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND I OFTEN PICK-UP OUR 3 GRANDCHILDREN FROM SCHOOL WHICH ALSO CONCERNS ME. THESE ARE MY OBSERVATIONS BUT I'VE ALSO READ A FEW SIMILAR ISSUES ON THE GOODYEAR WEBSITE BUT THEY REFERRED TO THE PROBLEM AS DRY ROT? THANK GOD NO ACCIDENTS OR FLATS BUT I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES LOSING AIR. I JUST WANT PIECE OF MIND AND I WILL GO TO A GOODYEAR TIRE DEALER SOON TO GET THEIR OPINION. WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE FROM LAS VEGAS NV TO MESQUITE NV THE BSD/RCTA AUTOMATICALLY DISABLED ITSELF OUT OF NOWHERE. I HAVE LOW MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE AND MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT SO I TOOK IT TO SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHERE I GET ALL MY MAINTENANCE DONE AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHY ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND IT WAS AT NO FAULT TO MY OWN THEY SAID BUT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY SO I WILL HAVE TO PAY A PRETTY PENNY AND I JUST FEEL THAT SHOULD BE THE MANUFACTURER DO TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE ON THEIR VEHICLES AND IT WAS NOT MY FAULT IT MALFUNCTIONED IT WAS THEIR SYSTEM.*DT*JB
I NOTICE A CRACK GROWING LONGER ON MY FRONT WINDOW.. ITJUST APPEARED NOTHING HIT IT.
FLEXIBLE EXHAUST BELLOWS THAT CONNECT EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS CRACKED AND EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CABIN. THIS CAUSES HEADACHES AND NAUSEA WHILE DRIVING AND IDLING ESPECIALLY WITH THE HVAC SYSTEM ON.THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON PRIOR YEAR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME BODY STYLE AND ENGINE COMBINATION. MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY ON A HILL AND WHEN HE STARTED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IT STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT HAD TO QUICKLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN TO A BACKWARDS U TURN TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK INTO HIS YARD. THE CONTACT AVOIDED THE VEHICLE CRASHING INTO THE NEIGHBOR'S YARD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT BACK IN TO THE DRIVEWAY AND PUT ON THE PARKING BRAKES. HE ALSO PLACED STONES BEHIND THE TWO REAR WHEELS TO HELP PREVENT ANOTHER BACKWARD ROLL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VIN TOOL DID NOT SHOW ANY RECALLS. THE CONTACT HAD THE DRIVER'S SIDE FENDER AND DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR REPAIRED SINCE THEY WERE DAMAGED DURING THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
I HAVE REVIEWED MULTIPLE THREADS ON THE INTERNET TALKING ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE KEY BEING STUCK IN THE IGNITION AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THEY ALL SUGGESTED CONTACTING SUBARU AMERICA AND THAT THERE WOULD BE A FREE FIX SINCE IT IMPACTS SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE (SEEMS EASY TO STEAL WHEN THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE CAR FOR EXAMPLE). SUBARU DID NOT RESPOND AS ANTICIPATED AND INSTEAD RESPONDED WITH A 'GO TALK TO A DEALER' WHICH ALSO IS QUOTED TO COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. MY FEELING IS THAT THE KEY BEING LITERALLY STUCK IN THE IGNITION COULD LEAD TO THEFT, FURTHER MECHANICAL DAMAGE, AND OTHER RISKS TO THE PERSON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK AND THE CAR CANNOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS INDEED IN PARK SO IT RETAINS THE CAR KEY LOCK, NOT RELEASING IT TO THE OWNER.
BOUGHT THIS CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNE AS BARELY DRIVEN, FOR A VERY GOOD PRICE. ALTHOUGH THE CAR HAD A 2 MONTH OLD BATTERY, THE CAR BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD WHEN I TRIED TO CRANK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. THEY JUMPED IT AND THE TEST DRIVE THE BATTERY WAS CHARGED UP. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE EVERY DAY SO I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL NOW, WHEN THE KIDS SCHOOL STARTED AND MY CAR WAS PARKED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITHOUT STARTING IT. MY WIFE WENT TO THE STORE AND SHE COULD NOT COME BACK, I HAD TO GIVE HER A JUMP. CAME BACK FROM THE STORE AND AGAIN, NOT ENOUGH TO CRANK THE ENGINE UP. AFTER I WENT TO A COUPLE OF SUBARU FORUMS, I FOUND OUT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THEN I FOUND OUT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT INCLUDES MY VEHICLE "POTENTIAL BATTERY DISCHARGE (DEAD BATTERY) AFTER REPEATED PERIODS OF SHORT-TRIP DRIVING.".
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN JULY, 2019 WITH ABOUT 40,000 MILES. WITHIN TWO WEEKS, I HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT TWO MORE TIMES SINCE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE CRACKING BUT IT MADE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE EACH TIME. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SAY IF THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING OR NOT. IT WAS NOT NOTICEABLE UNTIL ENTERING THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING, BUT IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE MOVING AND IT JUST WASN'T NOTICED. WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD THREE TIMES IN ABOUT 14 MONTHS. JULY, 2019, APRIL 2020, AND SEPTEMBER 2020.
THE IGNITION KEY WILL NOT COME OUT WHEN SHUTTING OFF.
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION OF MY 2017 SUBARU LEGACY. I START THE CAR AGAIN, I TWIST THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT, AND THE KEY STILL DOES NOT COME OUT. MY CAR WAS PARKED EVERY TIME THIS OCCURRED. SO I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND THERE WERE A TON OF VIDEOS AND FORUMS DISCUSSING THIS EXACT ISSUE! APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AT SUBARU. BECAUSE OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS, SUBARU FIXED THE ISSUE STARTING WITH THEIR 2018 MODELS. SUBARU RELEASED A SERVICE BULLETIN DATED 3/15/18 WITH THE SUBJECT LINE: "IGNITION KEY STICKING / DESIGN CHANGE TO CVT SHIFTER / SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENTS". THAT IS MY EXACT PROBLEM! I PURCHASED THE LEGACY USED IN 2020 AND IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE US A QUOTE OF $512.92 TO FIX THE "SHIFTER ASSEMBLY". WE ARE DISGUSTED THAT SUBARU WILL NOT COVER THIS COST, AS IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I'VE OWNED MANY CARS IN MY LIFE AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A KEY GETTING STUCK IN A 3 YEAR OLD CAR! THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURING, YET THEY DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL. IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE GOING TO NEED A NEW "SELECT LEVER ASSEMBLY" AND SUBARU IS TOO CHEAP TO PAY FOR THIS FIX.... AN ISSUE I DID NOT CAUSE!
TWO SEVERE WINDSHIELD CRACKING INCIDENTS WITHIN 18 MONTHS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BOTH TIMES ON A STRAIGHT SURFACE IN GOOD WEATHER AND MAY HAVE BEEN STRUCK BY A SMALL STONE BUT I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. I NOTICED A BARELY VISIBLE DING THAT TURNED INTO A SPREADING CRACK WITHIN A FEW DAYS AND MADE REPLACEMENT OF WINDSHIELD MANDATORY. 18 MONTHS LATER, THE SAME THING. A TINY IMPACT ON THE GLASS SHATTERING THE WINDSHIELD. THE GLASS SEEMS VERY THIN AND FRAGILE. BECAUSE OF EYESIGHT DRIVER ASSIST TECHNOLOGY, I CANNOT HAVE IT REPAIRED AT ANY OTHER PROVIDER BUT THE DEALER.
WHILE PARKED IN A HOTEL PARKING LOT, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED A LONG CRACK. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN IMPACTED BY ANY OBJECT.
KEY WILL NOT REMOVE FROM IGNITION WHEN STOPPED RESULTING HAVING TO LEAVE CAR UNLOCKED NOT SURE IF PARK IS FULLY ENGAGED IN TRANSMISSION RUNS BATTERY DOWN FROM KEY BEING LEFT IN A ON POSITION THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU LEGACY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, A CRACK FORMED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GARCIA SUBARU NORTH (6401 SAN MATEO BLVD NE, ALBUQUERQUE, NM 87109) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRACK WAS CAUSED BY A ROCK STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT A ROCK SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED SUCH SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, a loud popping noise was heard, and then a crack formed from the bottom of the windshield without impact. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the windshield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the windshield needed to be replaced another time. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred after she started the vehicle. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V712000 (Visibility); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was unknown.
UNABLE TO GET KEY OUT OF IGNITION IN P POSITION. HAVE TO PUT IT EITHER BACK IN D OR R, MOVE A BIT, PUT IT BACK IN P, TRY AGAIN, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES.
Complete Battery drainage started when the car had about 30k miles. Batery was replaced around December 2020 at owners expense. Within a year the baterry drainage started happening again, randomly, after parking. Subaru dealer suggested to keep replacing baterry. Issue has not been reproduced by service department; it randomly happens. It has not been inspected by others.
OUR CURRENT 2017 LEGACY HAS LESS THAN 35,000 MILES AND IS 3 MONTHS 4 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, SOME OF WHICH WAS DURING THE COVID19 SHUTDOWN. THE LATEST ISSUE IS THE IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE WHEN YOU CAN GET THE KEYS OUT OR ENGINE TO STOP. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE BUT S\THE SUBARU DEALER REFUSED TO ADDRESS THIS UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. I WAS STATIONARY AT THE LIGHT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A "U" SHAPED CRACK APPEARS SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE WIPERS. BY THE TIME I PULLED OVER WHICH WAS ABOUT 45 SECONDS. THE CRACK SPREAD HORIZONTALLY ACROSS THE GLASS.
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED TWO THIRDS OF THE WAY ACROSS FROM THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE TOWARDS THE MIDDLE ACROSS THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. STARTED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY TURNING SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT AT 60 MPH. INITIALLY OCCURRED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND GREW OVER THE COURSE OF THREE DAYS. HASN'T GROWN NOTICEABLY SINCE THEN.
SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THE SUBARU WINDSHIELDS, I AM ON MY 4TH WINDSHIELD. THE ONE THAT CAME WITH THE CAR PLUS 3 REPLACEMENTS. THE LAST REPLACEMENT WAS THREE WEEKS AGO AND NOW I HAVE ANOTHER CHIP IN MY WINDSHIELD AS OF TODAY. NOT ONLY IS IT DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS KEEP HAPPENING, ITS COSTING ME MORE MONEY WHEN MY INSURANCE IS JACKING UP MY RATES EACH YEAR FOR HAVING TO PUT CLAIMS IN. IT'S MAKING ME TAKE TIME OFF FROM AND IT'S RIDICULOUS. APPARENTLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING AN ISSUE. THE WINDSHIELDS ARE DEFECTIVE! I'M 52 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING SINCE I'M 17 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS. CAN YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AS IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE ON TO WINDSHIELD #5. THE NEW CHIP HAPPENED TODAY AND I DON'T REMEMBER HEARING ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD.
I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON HWY 75 IN IDAHO ON A SLUSHY MORNING AND A STATE PLOW TRUCK DRIVING SOUTH WAS THROWING SAND ON THE ROAD AND WHEN HE DROVE PAST THE SAND HE WAS THROWING CRACKED MY WINDSHIELD. NOW MY WINDSHIELD HAS CONTINUED TO CRACK AND IS IMPEDING MY VISION.
A GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATION IS REQUIRED FOR WINDSHIELD QUALITY ISSUES ON THE 2015-2019 SUBARU LEGACY AND OUTBACK GENERATION. THERE APPEAR TO BE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING SPONTANEOUS LARGE CRACKS ORIGINATING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE DE-ICER AREA THAT HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE NHTSA DATABASE FOR THIS ENTIRE GENERATION OF VEHICLES. PER SUBARU SERVICE BULLETIN 12-192-15R / NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10093903 ("SERVICE BULLETIN"), AN ALLEGEDLY IMPROVED WINDSHIELD WAS USED FOR THE LEGACY AND OUTBACK MODELS AFTER THE 2016 MODEL YEAR. HOWEVER, THE COMPLAINTS TO THE NHTSA AND CURRENT LEGAL ACTIONS SHOW THAT SUBARU HAS CONTINUED TO REFUSE TO HOLD ITS GLASS SUPPLIER ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAULTY WINDSHIELDS. THE ORIGIN OF THE LARGE CRACK ON MY LEGACY'S WINDSHIELD IS ACTUALLY UNDERNEATH WHERE THE WIPER BLADE SITS AND AS SUCH COULD NOT HAVE ORIGINATED FROM A BULLS EYE, STAR, OR COMBINATION IMPACT WHILE DRIVING. MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE ORIGINAL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY PERIOD. BASED ON THE LOCATION AND NATURE OF THE CRACK, I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE CORRESPONDS WITH THE WINDSHIELD PROBLEMS DESCRIBED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN. WHILE CLASS ACTIONS ARE HELPFUL IN POTENTIALLY RECOVERING MONETARY DAMAGES TO HARMED CONSUMERS, THEY CAN MOVE SLOWLY AND NOT RESULT IN FULL ACCOUNTABILITY. GOVERNMENT ACTION IS REQUIRED HERE TO PROMPTLY FORCE SUBARU TO HOLD ITS SUPPLIER ACCOUNTABLE AND PROTECT DRIVERS FROM COMPROMISED WINDSHIELD GLASS. IN A DISAPPOINTING COMMUNICATION, SUBARU OF AMERICA ALSO TOLD ME THAT SHOULD THEY DETERMINE NO WARRANTY COVERAGE APPLIED, I SHOULD CONSIDER CONTACTING MY INSURER. IN OTHER WORDS, IT'D BE BETTER FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS TO FILE FRAUDULENT INSURANCE CLAIMS RATHER THAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAULTY WINDSHIELDS.
ON A COLD DAY WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR, A LOUD CRACK WAS HEARD. NO DEBRIS WAS SEEN, AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN THE LOWER PORTION OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK SPREAD QUICKLY AND IN MULTIPLE DIRECTIONS. SINCE THE CRACKS ARE SO SEVERE AFTER NO OBSERVABLE IMPACT, A DEFECT IN THE WINDSHIELD IS SUSPECTED. THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT IS APPROXIMATE WITHIN A TWO WEEK SPAN. *TR
Purchased the car used took to dealership for rattle from front end, they diagnosed and recommended replacement of steering rack as it was defective, so it was replaced, a month later same noise, same diagnosis, replaced again, repeated this 7 times and they have reconfirmed it is the rack, the dealership technician states it’s the rack and not as it should be. The manager however is trying to state now that it’s a normal noise and they won’t warranty the repairs anymore. It continues to get worse and louder and feels unsafe to have defective steering racks on the roadways that are non repairable. I’ve reached out to corporate Subaru as well and they can only make decisions based off info the manager gives them which is opposite of what the technicians state. Please help me this car is unsafe.
KEY IS GETTING STUCK IN IGNITION AFTER CAR IS PLACED IN PARK AND TURNED OFF. CAR MUST BE MOVED OUT OF PARK INTO NEUTRAL AND PARK INTO PARK MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM IGNITION. AT TIMES I HAVE HAD TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE CAR AND RETURN LATER IN ORDER TO REMOVE IT. THIS IS CREATING A HAZARD NOT ONLY FOR THE POTENTIAL FOR THE CAR TO BE STOLEN BUT ALSO IT KEEPS ME FROM MOVING MY CAR QUICKLY IF NECESSARY.
I HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK FOR NO REASON AT ALL, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT LOOKED AT AND SAID ITS A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD AND WOULD REPLACE IT FOR FREE. THIS IS THE THIRD ONE IN 2 YEARS, THE OTHER 2 WHERE FROM A SMALL ROCK. I WORKED AT SUBARU FOR 2 YEARS AND THEY BY FAR HAVE THE WORST WINDSHIELDS ON THE MARKET. I HAD PEOPLE COMPLAIN ALL THE TIME AND I HAD TO LIE TO THEM AND SAY IT'S JUST BAD LUCK AND EVERY MANUFACTURER OUT THERE HAS THE SAME ISSUES. WELL IF YOU HAVE EYESIGHT IT WILL COST YOU AROUND 700 BUCKS TO REPLACE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO RE-CALIBRATE THE EYESIGHT EVERY TIME. *TR
WHEN I GO TO PARK MY 2017 SUBARU LEGACY, I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND THE KEY WILL NOT TURN. IT GETS STUCK AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OFF. CONSEQUENTLY, I AM NOT ABLE TO TURN OFF MY CAR AND TAKE MY KEY OUT. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO BACK UP MY CAR AND THRUST MY GEAR SHIFTER INTO PARK. THEN I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE KEY OFF. HOWEVER, THE SITUATION CONTINUES TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THAT I DRIVE THE CAR. IT IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE/CAR AS THIS NEVER HAPPENED PRIOR. I WAS TOLD THAT SUBARU'S FREQUENTLY HAVE DEFECTIVE SOLENOIDS THAT HOLDS THE KEY IN WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING MIGHT BE DEFECTIVE. I HAVE NOT YET SEEN A RECALL.
ON AUGUST 30, I TRAVELED NORTH BOUND ON IH 35 TOWARDS AUSTIN AROUND 6:00PM. AS I APPROACHED MY DESTINATION, I NOTICED A CRACK THAT HAD STARTED IN THE BOTTOM, CENTER OF MY WINDSHIELD. I DIDN'T REMEMBER HEARING ANYTHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD, SO I WAS VERY SURPRISED I HAD A CRACK. I DID HAVE MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED AT SAFELIGHT ON OCTOBER 15, 2019 AND PAID $500 DEDUCTIBLE. NOW I AM READING ABOUT FAULTY WINDSHIELD LAWSUITS POPPING UP ON SUBARU VEHICLES
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON IN MY 2017 SUBARU LEGACY WITH ONLY 8,000 MILES & STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ON JUNE 18TH WE LEFT HOUSTON FOR SOUTH DAKOTA WITH ASSURANCE FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT AS LONG AS THE LIGHT WAS NOT FLASHING THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. ON THE 2ND DAY OF OUR TRIP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON CONSTANTLY & WE WERE NOT UNABLE TO USE OUR CRUISE CONTROL. WE HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED & REPAIRED IN RAPID CITY, SD. AT COURTESY SUBARU. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A WIRING HARNESS. IT WOULD TAKE 1500 HOURS TO REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TORN COMPLETELY APART. I HAVE ATTACHED PHOTOS. SUBARU REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BUT SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT THE SAME. THE USB OUTLET DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. THE CAR LINER AND WIRING IS SHOWING IN PLACES THAT IT WASN'T BEFORE. THERE ARE SCRATCHES ON THE VEHICLE THAT WEREN'T THERE BEFORE AND LINING IN THE TRUCK ISN'T ATTACHED. I HAVE LOST ALL TRUST IN THE VEHICLE. WHAT HAPPENS IF 1 YEAR, OR ANYTIME IN THE FUTURE THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILS OR WORSE CATCHES FIRE? I CONTACTED SUBARU REQUESTING A BUY OUT OR TRADE IN OPTION. THEY HAVE REFUSED ONLY TO OFFER A 5 YEAR, 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. I DO NOT WANT THE VEHICLE & WILL SELL IT SO I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF RUNNING A CARFAX WOULD SHOW THE WIRING ISSUE & THEY SAID YES. THAT INFORMATION WILL LESSEN THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AS A TRADE IN BUT I WILL NOT SELL THIS VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE PARTY WITH THE ISSUES AND I WILL NOT KEEP IT KNOWING THAT SOMETHING ELSE COULD GO AWRY. I ONLY WANT TO BE TREATED FAIRLY BUT SUBARU WILL ONLY SAY THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY UNDER THE LEMON LAW AND REFUSES ANY REMEDIES EXCEPT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I DO HAVE A COPY OF THE EMAIL STRING WITH SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE IF NEEDED.
I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD WHEN I WENT TO MY GARAGE, I HADN'T DRIVEN THE CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS SO I THOUGHT POSSIBLY EXTREME HEAT OR HUMIDITY MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD TO CRACK. IT SEEMED UNUSUAL BUT I DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER EXPLANATION SINCE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE & THE CRACK WAS IN A VERY NOTICEABLE SPOT. I CALLED SUBARU TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED.
I PARKED MY CAR AT THE AIRPORT PARKING LOT FOR 3DAYS. ATER MY TRIP, I FOUND OUT THE WINDSHIELD WAS BROKEN ALL OF SURDDEN WITH NO REASONS. SO I CLAIMED INSURANCE TO REPLACE THE WINDSHILELD.
GAS CAP DOESN'T OPEN. I DECIDED TO BUY THIS CAR LAST YEAR BECAUSE ANOTHER LEGACY CAR HAD THE SAME REPAIR SHOWING ON ITS CARFAX. AND NOW I HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. THE REP SAID TODAY THAT THEY HAD ANOTHER CAR TO REPAIR FOR THE SAME ISSUE.
IN A PARKING LOT IN A STATIONARY POSITION I SHIFTED INTO PARK AND WAS NOT ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION; IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE SAME DAY IN MY GARAGE.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING LAST WINTER. THE CRACK IS ACROSS THE BOTTOM FROM THE DRIVER SIDE ALMOST CLEAR CROSSED.
Battery drains resulting in no start condition. Taken to dealer and they say all is fine but problem happens over again. On second battery and need to purchase a third now because of this issue.
