ORIGINAL OWNER, PURCHASED NEW 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK LIMITED IN EARLY 2015. WE HAVE REPLACED BATTERY FOUR TIMES AND HAVE HAD TO JUMP START THE VEHICLE ~ 25 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. THERE IS CLEARLY A PARASITIC ELECTRICAL DRAIN ON THE BATTERY THAT IS WIDELY DISCUSSED IN ONLINE FORUMS BY FELLOW OWNERS BUT NOT ACKNOWLEDGED BY SUBARU OR ITS DEALERS (PRESUMABLY TO MITIGATE LIABILITY RISKS AND AVOID REPAIR COSTS). WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE LOCAL SUBARU SERVICE DEALERS ADDRESS THE ISSUE BUT THEY GIVE US BS ANSWERS LIKE "YOU DON'T DRIVE THE CAR ENOUGH", "YOU MUST HAVE LEFT LIGHTS ON", OR "THESE NEWER CARS HAVE SO MANY NEW ELECTRICAL FEATURES THAT IT IS TYPICAL FOR BATTERIES TO DIE" .... ALL OF WHICH ARE CLEARLY BS AND AN ATTEMPT TO DEFLECT RESPONSIBILITY FOR A FLAWED ELECTRICAL DESIGN THAT CONSISTENTLY DRAINS ALL BATTERIES. MOREOVER, PART OF THE FLAW IS A SYSTEM THAT WAS DESIGNED TO ONLY RECHARGE THE BATTERY UNDER CERTAIN HIGHER SPEED DRIVING CONDITIONS ... WHICH ARE RARELY ACHIEVED WHEN DRIVING SHORTER DISTANCES AT LOWER SPEEDS IN CITY APPLICATIONS. EVEN WHEN DRIVING THE CAR REGULARLY, MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK THE BATTERIES ALL EVENTUALLY DIE WELL SHORT OF THEIR INTENDED LIFE NEEDLESSLY REQUIRING JUMP-STARTING, TRICKLE-CHARGING TO TOP OFF BATTERY AND/OR REPLACEMENT (WE ARE ON 4TH BATTERY FOR THIS VEHICLE). SUBARU SHOULD SHOW ITS "LOVE" BY STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX DESIGN PROBLEMS THAT ARE AFFECTING SO MANY CUSTOMERS.
BATTERY SUDDENLY WENT DEAD SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING WHEN IT SHOULD BE CHARGED. AFTER INVESTIGATING, I FOUND THAT THE ECU CYCLES THE ALTERNATOR OFF AND ON TO TRY TO INCREASE FUEL MILEAGE. THIS HAS TWICE RESULTED IN BATTERY FAILURE, NOT STARTING AND LEAVING ME STRANDED. I'VE HAD TO BUY NEW BATTERIES TWICE IN FIVE YEARS.
CONSISTENT BATTERY ISSUES ON START UP; UPON A MECHANIC LOOKING AT BATTERY, THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED/OK - BUT THERE APPEARS TO BE POSSIBLE CONNECTION ISSUE? IT APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE. IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS?
I WAS GOING 55 MPH ON A STRAIGHT FLAT SURFACE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RPM'S SHOT UP TO AROUND 4000 BUT THE CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING. IT WAS LIKE IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO DIE. FORTUNATELY, IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND I DROVE HOME. I HAD A ALMOST A FULL TANK OF GAS. I HAD ONLY DRIVEN IT FOR 5 MINUTES AS I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. I JUST HAD THE OIL/FILTER CHANGED NOT EVEN 2 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE 54,000 DEALER SERVICED MILES ON THE CAR. IT WAS 86 DEGREES OUT. 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK PREMIUM 2.5
SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED A NOISE AND LEAK FROM CATALYTIC SYSTEM. HINT OF EXHAUST PRESENT IN DRIVER COMPARTMENT AT LOW SPEED AND STOPS.
RECEIVED SUBARU RECALL (WUJ-95) ON AUG,3.2020 PERTAINING TO EXHAUST PIPE BELLOW FAILURE. THE RECALL INCLUDES REPLACEMENT OF THE EXHAUST Y-PIPE THAT IS INSTALLED FROM ENGINE TO TALE PIPE. THIS EXHAUST PIPE IN MY UNDERSTANDING WAS INSTALLED UNDER A STRESS MANUFACTURING PROCESS WHERE THE PIPE AND FASTENER SYSTEM HAS TO BE FORCED IN TO INSTALL. THIS PUTS EXCESS STRESS ON THE BELLOWS AND CAUSED FAILURE. MY QUESTION IS WHY DID SUBARU WAIT FIVE YEARS TO NOTIFY THE CONSUMER AND ISSUE A RECALL. PLEASE RETURN MY REQUEST FOR A FULL EXPLANATION OF WHAT HAPPENED. 2ND. I WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS THE CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUE. SUBARU EXTENDED THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE TIME LINE TO 10YR-100,000 MILE. I AM HAVING MANY ISSUES WITH MY CVT TRANSMISSION AND SUBARU WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND PROBLEMS WITH THE GEN-5 CVT TRANSMISSION WOULD PLEASE TAKE A 2ND LOOK AT THIS ISSUE.
I have had to replace battery sooner than it should have. Also, it seems to be causing an electrical issue with the computer board where all the dashboard warnings are blanking. I have been disconnecting the battery and reconnecting to reset the computer board.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED STARTING FROM WINDSHIELD WIPER HEATER LOCATION ON PASSENGER SIDE UP AND OVER TO MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD APPROXIMATELY 2 .5 FEET IN LENGTH. THIS HAPPENED WITH THE SO CALLED IMPROVED WINDSHIELD FROM SUBARU. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY , NO STONE CHIP/IMPACT DAMAGE NOTED. AT THE TIME WHEN I TURNED ON THE WINDSHIELD HEAT I HEARD A CRACK. THE WEATHER OUTSIDE WAS COLD ABOUT 40 F.THE TEMP INSIDE THE CAR WAS WARM. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE THE WINDSHIELD IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE STRUCTURE OF THE CAR AND HELPS TO CONTAIN THE AIR BAGS DURING AN IMPACT. THESE WINDSHIELDS APPEAR TO BE TOO FRAGILE OR THIN FOR SAFETY AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED, ROLLED TO A STOP, AND WOULDN'T START UP AGAIN. THIS RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I PUSHED THE HAZARD BUTTON BUT THE OTHER DRIVERS ACCOUNT OF THE ACCIDENT WAS THAT THE LIGHTS WERE OFF. THE CAR HAD ITS EPB REPROGRAMMED AND SUB RELAY REPLACEMENT DONE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD NO PRIOR PROBLEM WITH THE CAR STOPPING UNEXPECTEDLY. I WAS KNOCKED OUT BY THE ACCIDENT, SO I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TIME TO SURMISE WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY HAVE BEEN. IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE 30 SECONDS FROM THE TIME IT STOPPED UNTIL WE WERE HIT BY 3 CARS AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.
VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH SUBARU'S "EYE SIGHT" SYSTEM, WHICH PROVIDES PRE-COLLISION BRAKING AND IS INVOLVED WITH LANE DEPARTURE WARNING. THE EYE SIGHT SYSTEM IN MY CAR IS INTERMITTENTLY INOPERATIVE WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. SOMETIMES, THE SYSTEM BEGINS WORKING AGAIN, THEN TURNS OFF, TURNS ON, ETC. IF EYE SIGHT IS INOPERATIVE AS THE CAR COMES TO A FULL STOP, THE INOPERATIVE WARNING MESSAGE USUALLY DISAPPEARS, BUT THE MESSAGE RETURNS SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR BEGINS MOVING AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY TIME THE CAR IS IN MOTION FOR THREE WEEKS.
2015 OUTBACK WITH 43,300 MILES. TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITH THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE IT REACHED THE RAILROAD TRACKS. DEALER SAID THIS WAS DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION OF THE UNDERBODY OF THE CAR. BRAKE LINES CORRODED AND RUPTURED. DEALER SAID THIS WAS NORMAL AMOUNT OF CORROSION. (THEY DID NOT WANT TO PUT THIS IN WRITING) CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA. (CASE # 1-58312860198) THEY SAID THAT SINCE DEALER SAID IT WAS NO BIG DEAL THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. CASE CLOSED. I AM CONCERNED THAT SINCE THE CORROSION IS SO SEVERE THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. (THIS CAR HAS A LONG HISTORY OF OTHER THINGS NOT WORKING)
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY STOCK SUBARU BATTERY FROM THE DEALER NOW FOUR TIMES. I DRIVE IT FOR WORK EVERYDAY AND EVERY SO OFTEN IT WILL NOT START UP ONE MORNING. I DO NOT LEAVE MY LIGHTS ON, DOME LIGHTS, OR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. IT WAS STATIONARY AND WOULD ALWAYS HAPPEN THE NEXT MORNING, THE BATTERY WOULD BE DRAINED AND THE DEALERSHIP WOULD REPLACE JUST THE BATTERY AS THEIR FIX. MONTHS LATER, IT WOULD ONLY HAPPEN AGAIN ON A BRAND NEW BATTERY FROM THE DEALER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUSTIN SUBARU (8100 BURNET ROAD, AUSTIN, TX 78757 PHONE (512)220-0930) TO BE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V502000 (POWER TRAIN), THE MECHANIC FOUND AN INTERNAL OIL LEAK AND NEEDED TO REMOVE THE ENGINE TO BE ABLE TO CORRECT THE ENGINE OIL LEAK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER REPLACED ENGINE RINGS, CYLINDER HEADS, AND INSTALLED A LONGER LASTING SILICONE SEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER REPAIRED THE ENGINE OIL LEAK FAILURE AS A GOOD WILL OFFER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,600.
2015 SUBARU OUTBACK 3.6L MILEAGE-58969. ALL LIGHTS FLASHING ON DASHBOARD, THEN SOME STOP BUT MANY STAY FLASHING.
CONSTANT CHECK ENGINE, NO ADAS FUNCTIONS AND MULTIPLE CODES AND HUD INDICATORS INCLUDING CKENGNE, XMODE FLASHING, ADAS DISABLE AND MAJOR ELECRTICAL PARASITIC DRAW AND TRANSMISSION AND OVERHEATING. I believe the past major leg relay was replaced during first recall, it was not performed correctly and tied into accesssorry aux into same wiring. defrost/ ac failure and clutch hums upon shutting down
WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN THE LOWER DRIVERS SIDE CORNER. THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO UNKNOWN REASONS AND BLIND SPOT WARNING STOPPED WORKING FOR NO REASON
WINDSHIELD CRACKED, STARTING AT HEATING ELEMENT AND GREW TO ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. MFR ADMITTED FAULT (I HAVE DOCUMENTATION) BUT WOULD NOT COVER FULL COST OF REPAIR. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN CRACK APPEARED AND HAD BEEN STATIONARY FOR SOME TIME DUE TO COVID-19 STAY AT HOME GUIDELINES. *TR
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND AS I WAS GRADUALLY HITTING THE BRAKES, THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN AT HIGH SPEED HITTING THE FENCE IN FRONT. I AM SURE THAT I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS. I HIT THE BRAKES AND IT WAS OF NO USE. AFTER HITTING THE FENCE THE CAR STOPPED AS I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
HAVE HAD 2 WHEEL BEARING FAIL AND NEED REPLACEMENT. THE FIRST AT 45000 MILES AND THE SECOND AT 65000 MILES.
THIS MORNING I DROVE MY VEHICLE AND NOTHING WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY. I CAME HOME AND THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR 1.5 HOURS AND WHEN I WENT BACK OUT I NOTICED ABOUT AN 8 INCH CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WITH NO SIGN OF ANY OTHER DAMAGE. IT IS A NICE, CLEAR DAY, AND THE CAR WAS NOT PARKED UNDER A TREE.
ON FEBRUARY 25 I WAS DRIVING MY SUBARU ON A CITY STREET AND TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH. I NOTICED THAT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AHEAD OF ME WOULD BE TURNING RED SO I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN. THE POWER BRAKES DID NOT WORK AT ALL. NOT ONLY DID THE POWER BRAKES GO OUT BUT THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN. I LOOKED AROUND FOR OPTIONS AND DECIDED I COULD TURN OFF INTO A PARKING LOT. THE BRAKES (NOT THE POWER BRAKES BUT THE BACK UP SYSTEM BRAKES) GRABBED JUST ENOUGH TO SLOW ME DOWN SO THAT I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF SAFELY INTO THE PARKING LOT. I DROVE THROUGH THE PARKING LOT TO A PLACE WITH NO CARS AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. AS I PUT THE CAR IN PARK THE ENGINE RPMS REVVED UP TO 4000 SO THE CAR ENGINE WAS OBVIOUSLY STILL TRYING TO PROPEL THE CAR. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND CALLED MY HUSBAND. WHEN HE CAME, HE GOT INTO THE CAR AND CHECKED THINGS LIKE THE CAR MAT POSITION WHICH WAS IN THE CORRECT PLACE. HE STARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS AS IF THE CAR HAD GOT IT'S BRAIN BACK. HE DROVE IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG BUT DID UPDATE OUR COMPUTER SYSTEM. WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THEN.
MY FRONT WINDSHIELD KEEPS CRACKING ON THE DRIVER SIDE, FROM THE EDGE TOWARDS THE CENTER. I HAVE REPLACED IT MULTIPLE TIMES WITH IT CRACKING FROM THE EDGE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND ALSO DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. I THINK THE BODY OF THE CAR BENDS AND PUTS TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE GLASS WHERE IT KEEPS CRACKING. I'VE INQUIRED WITH MULTIPLE LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIPS AFTER GETTING A NOTICE FROM SUBARU AND NONE OF THEM WILL FIX OR HONOR THE LETTER. DUE TO COSTS, I'VE STOPPED REPLACING IT AND AM SETTLING WITH CRACKS IMPAIRING MY VIEW.
MY CAR HAS A DEAD BATTERY. I JUST REPLACED THE BATTERY IN NOVEMBER 2018 AND IT IS ALREADY DEAD. THIS ALSO HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER 2018 AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH THE BATTERY AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CAR RUNS FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN THE CAR BATTERY DIES AGAIN. I HAVE THE BATTERY SWAPPED OUT FOR ONE WITH A HIGHER CCA. THIS BATTERY I BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER 2018 HAS NO POWER AS OF FEBRUARY 2020 WHICH IS TOO SHORT OF A LIFESPAN. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE CAR DRAINING THE BATTERY AND SUBARU DOES NOT WANT TO FIX IT.
AUTOMATIC BREAKING ACTIVATED FOR NO REASON BUT ONLY FOR A VERY SHORT TIME BUT VERY HARD. THEN RELEASED. THERE WAS A FLASH OF SOMETHING ON THE DASH I THINK A BREAKING WARNING AND BEEPING SOUND. MOVING APPROX 35MPH, NOT BREAKING, ON 2 LANE ROAD ( EAST PEA RIDGE RD. HUNTINGTON WV). NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME FOR QUITE A DISTANCE. NO ONE COMING TOWARD ME EITHER. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE GOOD. STRAIGHT ROAD. ( I HAVE INCLUDED A GOOGLE MAP PICTURE OF APPROXIMATELY WHERE IT HAPPENED) TIME: ABOUT 12:45PM CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY A "COMPANY CAR" OF MY BROTHERS. (WHEELS INC) I PURCHANED IT IN OCT 2017. MY BROTHER SAID THIS HAD HAPPENED TO HIM ONE TIME ALSO. LARGE CRACK IN WINDSHIELD ON PASSENGER SIDE EXTENDING OVER 15 INCHES ACROSS. SUBARU DEALER SAYS IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY SAY IT WAS CAUSED BY A MICROSCOPIC SIZE CHIP. REPORTING BECAUSE I SEE ONLINE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MAKE AND YEAR. JUST CAME DOWN ONE MORNING AND THE HUGE CRACK WAS THERE. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN LOT. NO SIGNS OF VANDALISM. NO EVIDENT CHIPS BEFORE CRACK APPEARED.
2015 SUBARU OUTBACK BATTERY FAILS TO HOLD A CHARGE. I WAS ADVISED IN JANUARY 2020 BY THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE BATTERY, WHICH I DID. THE PROBLEM IS NOW RECURRING AND THE CAR BATTERY WILL NOT HOLD A CHARGE OVER NIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THE CAR HAS BECOME COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE.
SUDDEN OVERNIGHT CRACK ALONG THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD, ABOUT 2" DOWN FROM THE TOP, FULL WIDTH OF DRIVER'S SIDE. CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE ON A QUIET RESIDENTIAL STREET, NO IMPACT OR UNUSUAL WEATHER EVENTS.
CHILD LOCK ON BACK PASSENGER DOOR IS LOCKED DOWN SO YOU CAN'T GET OUT UNLESS SOMEONE FROM OUTSIDE OPENS. I NEVER USED THE CHILD LOCK AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT GOT DOWN. TOOK IT TO SUBARU DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD $350 TO FIX IT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT. SEEN MANY POSTS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
DURING THE FALL OF 2019, I NOTICED AN EXHAUST SMELL WHEN STARTING MY 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK IN MY GARAGE. THIS SMELL COINCIDED WITH THE CAR RUNNING ROUGH WHEN STARTING AND THE EXHAUST SMELL ENTERING THE CABIN WHEN THE HEATER WAS TURNED ON. I DID NOT NOTICE THIS CABIN EXHAUST SMELL IN THE SUMMER DUE TO USING THE AC ON RECIRCULATE. THE EXHAUST SMELL WAS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN I WAS IDLING WAITING TO PICK UP MY KIDS AND SITTING AT TRAFFIC STOPS. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN TO A SUBARU DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS CRACKED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THIS WAS WHEN MY CAR WAS AT 80,829 MILES AND THEY ACTUALLY HAD THE PART ON HAND. I AM ASSUMING THAT THIS HAPPENS TO THEM QUITE FREQUENTLY SINCE STOCKING A $1500 ON HAND WOULD NOT BE THE BEST USE OF INVENTORY. THE REPAIR COST $1940 SINCE MY EMISSION WARRANTY WAS BARELY OUT DUE TO THE 829 MILES. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING WAY BEFORE THE 80,000 MILES, BUT THEY REFUSED TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. I FEEL THAT HAVING EXHAUST ENTERING THE CABIN SHOULD BE AN EXCEPTION TO THE WARRANTY, ESPECIALLY WHEN KIDS LIVES ARE INVOLVED. ALSO, BY HAVING THIS PART ON HAND TELLS ME THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER HAVING THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH MY SUBARU.
UNDER NORMAL STRESS - A CRACK APPEARED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD STARTING AT THE BASE AND BEGAN TO SPREAD UPWARD AND OUTWARD FROM THERE.
LIFT GATE MOTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, MAKING KNOCKING SOUND.
NOTED OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL WEEKS, AN INCREASE IN EXHAUST NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE CABIN WOULD FILL WITH EXHAUST FUMES WHEN STOPPED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TWICE TO HAVE THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED AND BOTH TIMES THEY INDICATED THAT NO ISSUE WAS FOUND. ON THE THIRD TRIP, THEY CONFIRMED A HOLE IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND INITIALLY REFUSED TO REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER THE PZEV EMISSIONS WARRANTY AND EXTENDED VEHICLE COVERAGE. AFTER POINTING OUT THE PZEV COVERAGE, THE DEALER REPLACED THE MANIFOLD.
WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE MAY 2015 AND HAD A DEAD BATTERY 4 TIMES WITH NO APPARENT REASON. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY EACH TIME. SUBARU DOESN'T SEEM TO ADMIT THERE IS AN ISSUE.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED STOHLMAN SUBARU OF STERLING (21736 AUTO WORLD CIR, STERLING, VA 20166, (888) 811-7714) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

THIS IS APPROXIMATELY THE 5TH TIME I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY BATTERY JUMPED WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS. NO VISUAL DRAIN (NO LIGHTS LEFT ON FOR EXAMPLE) IS SUSPECTED. VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN USE ON VARIOUS TRIPS PRIOR TO CAR NOT STARTING. I HAVE KEY FOB AND COULDN'T EVEN OPEN THE BACK HATCH TO GET TOOLS OUT OF CAR. WHEN CAR WAS FAIRLY NEW, HAD PROBLEM WHERE KEY FOB COULD NOT START THE CAR (HAPPENED THREE TIMES) BUT FELT THAT WAS AN ELUSIVE KEY FOB PROBLEM. NOW I AM NOT SURE WHAT PROBLEM IS BUT I AM SUSPECTING THERE IS SOME SORT OF SHORT OR SYSTEM DRAIN ON BATTERY THAT HAS SURFACED. VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVEWAY, PARKING LOT AND IN PARKING SPACE ON STREET WHEN THESE LAPSES OCCURRED. READING ONLINE ABOUT NUMEROUS SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH DEAD BATTERY AND SUSPICIOUS ELECTRICAL DRAINAGE OF BATTERIES. MOST RECENT PROBLEM HAPPENED 11/29 AND AGAIN 12/4. CAR WAS IN GARAGE (NOT USED) BETWEEN 11/29 AND 12/4.
DROVE CAR TO MONTANA, PARKED IN HOTEL. THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED INTO THE UPPER 20'S. WHEN WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING, BEFORE TOUCHING THE CAR, WE SAW THAT THERE WAS A 6 INCH CRACK STARTING AT BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD ON DRIVERS SIDE. CRACK GREW AS TEMP WARMED DURING THE DAY WITH ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 5 MILES. THE NEXT MORNING THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH PROGRESSIVELY GREW THROUGH THE DRIVE BACK TO CA. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY CARS IN COLD TEMPERATURE AND NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. THIS IS A SIGN OF A FAULTY WINDSHIELD. I HAVE READ THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SUBARU OWNERS WITH SAME COMPLAINT, AND THAT REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS HAVE ALSO CRACKED.

THE CRACK STARTED OFF AS A LITTLE LINE HOWEVER, WITHIN MINUTES, THE SMALL LINE WENT HORIZONTAL ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE PASSENGER'S TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. DON MILLER SUBARU WEST (5822 ODANA RD, MADISON, WI 53719, (608) 442-3200) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
Our car has electrical / battery problems. It frequently will not start on its own. We have to jump start the battery about once a month, sometimes more frequently. The primary driver commutes 120 miles at least once a week (60 miles each way), thus we should not have issues with battery drain, but we do. We replaced the battery 1 year ago and the problem still remains. The battery also drains quite quickly, for example, last week we had the back lift gate open for 15 - 20 minutes while we were in and out of the house packing up the car with all the things I needed for a work event. When we were ready to go, the car wouldn't start. This has happened to us multiple times camping in the past. Because we have had so many problems with our car starting, we keep a small battery generator charged and in the car so we can jumpstart our car if needed. Without this device, we would have been stranded in the back country tens of miles away from civilization with no cell service and no ability to get home. We've started keeping all the lights off inside the car to see if that helps, It hasn't, even with no lights on inside the car the battery has drained while packing up our car for a trip. The dealership replaced the battery in 2020 and said that was the problem, they have not looked for "parasitic drain" despite our complaints. There is no warning when this will happen, no lights appear or messages. This has been an ongoing problem that started in 2019 that continues to this day. Our safety has been put at risk multiple times with this problem by potentially leaving us completely stranded in the woods, at night in urban environments, and has prevented us from getting to work on time. I've read on numerous forums that this has been a problem with the CANs systems in this model. Please investigate.
AUTOMATIC FRONT SEATS. WHEN WIFE OPENS THE PASSENGER DOOR FIRST (BEFORE THE DRIVER) THE DRIVER SEAT ADJUSTS TO HER SET POSITION. AN D IF I DON'T PAY ATTENTION THE DRIVER SEAT WILL PUSH/CRUSH ME INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE A BAD BACK AND DROP FOOT, SO I DON'T HAVE THE STRENGTH OF A YOUNGER PERSON. MY ONLY SALVATION IS TO SQUEEZE OUT OR HIT THE POSITION BUTTON ON THE DOOR PANEL. ALSO, THE PRESETS GO OUT ALL THE TIME. I HAVE ASKED IF THEY COULD DISABLE THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SENSOR. NOTHING. REAR GATE OPENING: IT HAS HAPPENED SO MANY TIMES. I HAVE COMPLAINED DIRECTLY TO SUBARU ABOUT THE SEAT AND GATE PROBLEM. NO RESULTS. THE REAR GATE HAS OPENED WHILE RAINING OUTSIDE DURING THE NIGHT. IT HAS OPENED WHILE IN THE GARAGE JAMMING THE OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR. I AM AFRAID ON TRIPS TO HAVE STUFF STOLEN OUT OF MY CAR IS SUCH AN INCIDENT. HAPPENED ONCE. ALSO... THEY HAVE A CUTE PRESET SO YOU CAN SET THE MAX HEIGHT OF THE GATE OPENING. TWICE MY WIFE HAS WALKED INTO THE REAR GATE AND LITERALLY FLIPPED BACKWARDS TO THE PAVEMENT! SUBARU DENIES ANY PROBLEMS ABOUT THE GATE. FUNNY, ONE DAY I WAS HELPING A FRIEND AND HER MOM WAS THERE. AS THEY HELPED ME UNLOAD MY SUBARU WE DISCOVERED THAT MOM HAD ALSO A SIMILAR MODEL. THE FIRST QUESTION SHE ASKED ME "HAVE YOU ANY PROBLEM WITH YOUR REAR GATE"!!! IT'S NOT JUST ME. SUBARU NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS HURT OR HAVE LOSS OF ITEMS FROM THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 150070620183. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
PASSENGER SIDE "CHILD LOCK" WILL NOT DISENGAGE. DOOR IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED FROM THE INSIDE BECAUSE OF A FAULTY CHILD LOCK. WE SET THE CHILD LOCK OUR CHILD WAS A TODDLER BUT NOW IT'S STUCK IN THE ON POSITION.

WINDSHIELD HAS CRACKED MULTIPLE TIMES
A SUPPOSED GAS CAP SEAL CAUSED 20 ICONS TO FLASH CONSTANTLY UPON MY DASH. THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING IN A PARKING GARAGE FOR TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT
BRAKES WERE MOMENTARY APPLIED BY SUBURU EYESIGHT BRAKING ASSIST SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH) ON A STRAIGHT PORTION OF AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH NO OBSTRUCTION APPARENT. THIS HAD ALSO HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME IN THE SAME VEHICLE SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE IN SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. ON BOTH INSTANCES THE DRIVER HAD HER FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKES RELEASED AFTER ONLY A SHORT DECELERATION. A QUICK FLASH OF THE BAS WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO OBSERVED IN THE SECOND INSTANCE. A SECOND PERSON IN THE CAR AT THE TIME ALSO STATES THAT THERE WAS NO OBSTRUCTION SEEN ON THE ROAD AND THE DISTANCE TO ANY CAR AHEAD IN THE SAME LANE SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM BEING REPORTED. THERE WAS A REAL CONCERN THAT CARS FOLLOWING US ON THIS BUSY HIGHWAY COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A REAR-END COLLISION IF THE BRAKES HAD NOT RELEASED QUICKLY. THE DRIVER HAD NEVER TAKEN HER FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS CAUGHT COMPLETELY BY SURPRISE.
BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS REQUIRED REPLACING AT 83,967 MILES. THE WHEEL NOISE BEGAN PRIOR TO THE CURRENT MILEAGE BUT JUST NOW TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER. THE WHEEL NOISE GOT LOUDER AS THE SPEED INCREASED.
WINDOWSHIELD CRACKED JUST OUT OF THE BLUE BRAKE LIGHT FLASHES ON DASH WHEN DRIVING
A CRACK APPEARED AT THE BASE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD. GREW TO ABOUT A FOOT AND A HALF. IT SEEMS THERES BEEN A LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST SUBARU IN REGARDS TO WINDSHIELD, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE. VERY SAD TO HEAR THAT ABOUT SUBARU. BECAUSE I'VE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH MY SUBARU UNTIL NOW
