EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION BETWEEN OIL CHANGE. WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED TO 45,000 MILES, THE LOW OIL LIGHT IS ON LESS THAN 5,000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGE. IF THE DRIVER IGNORE THE WARNING AND NOT ADD OIL TO THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE CAN BE DAMAGES. A THREE YEARS OLD VEHICLE WITH 45,000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CHANGE OIL FREQENTLY. I SPOKE TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE OIL LEVEL IS NORMAL, AND OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IS NOT NEEDED. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO A CAR REPAIR SHOP, THEY TOLD ME THE OIL LEVEL IS LOWER THAN STANDARD BETWEEN OIL CHANGE. I ALSO CONTACTED SUBARU NORTH AMERICA, WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY THE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT, AND ONLY A VERY SMALL NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS HAVE IDENTIFIED A CONCERN ON THIS ISSUE.
EXCESSIVE EXHAUST ENTERING PASSENGER CABIN ANYTIME THE ENGINE IS RUNNING BECAUSE OF CRACK IN FLEX PIPE ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD THAT OCCURRED WITH LESS THAN 60K MILES.
BATTERY DISCHARGES WHEN NOT DRIVEN FREQUENTLY. SUBARU TECH SUGGESTED PURCHASING LARGER BATTERY AS OEM IS NOT ADEQUATE. DATE OF EVENT IS EST. *TR
THE SUNROOF ON THE VEHICLE EXPLODED RANDOMLY. CAUSING GLASS TO GO EVERYWHERE ALL OVER THE CAR WHILE ON THE FREEWAY.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED BY THE REAR VIEW MIRROR'IT STARTED IN THE BLACK SECTION ALONGSIDE THE MIRROR AND CAME DOWN AND MADE A J AND REVERSE J PATTEN ONTO DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AT EYE LEVEL. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SUBARU DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS NO IMPACT POINT BUT REFUSED TO COVER IT UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT DID NOT CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA. WINDSHIELD WAS NEVER HIT BY ROCK OR OTHER DEBRIS AND THERE IS NO APPARENT REASON FOR IT TO CRACK LIKE IT DID. THE CRACK APPEARED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE SUBARU CARLEX WINDSHIELDS. I FOUND FOUND SEVERAL COMMENTS ONLINE DESCRIBING THIS SAME CRACKING PATTERN.
BATTERY PERIODICALLY GOES DEAD OVERNIGHT
LEFT REAR WHEEL BEARING FAILED AT 40,293 MILES IN MAY 2016 LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED AT 76.699 MILES IN FEB 2018 THIS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED
CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND STEADY
THE CAR WOULD STALL WHEN COASTING TO A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN A FEW TIMES AND HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND CAN'T REPLICATED THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND CAN CAUSE AN UNSAFE AND HUGE ACCIDENT WITH MY FAMILY. THE CAR WOULD DIE WHILE IN DRIVE AND SOMETIMES CAN'T BE RESTARTED. IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN AND AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR SINCE THE DEALER WILL SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S RELATED TO IDLE BEING LOW OR THE CVT ACTING UP WHEN TAKING THE FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A DEAD STOP OR COASTING TO A STOP. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES DURING FACTORY WARRANTY WINDOW.
THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM TURNS ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT SPEED AND ALL OF SUDDEN IT IS NOT. THE WINDSHIELD WAS CLEAR AND IT WAS NOT RAINING. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WHICH THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO RESOLVE.
THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM FREEZES UP ABOUT EVERY OTHER DAY AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING AGAIN FOR THE LAST MONTH. REAR BACKUP CAMERA STAYS ON AT TIMES. SCREEN FREEZES AND HARD KNOB CONTROLS OF INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK WHEN TOUCH SCREEN IS FROZEN. THIS IS THE SECOND MODULE THAT HAS BEEN INSTALLED DUE TO THESE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS CONTINUE.
ATTEMPTED TO COME TO A STOP AT A PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF A SHOP BUT CAR SPED UP AND COLLIDED WITH A WALL 6 FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR. AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT WORK OR ENGAGE AT SLOW SPEED.

PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, STOPPING WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT HIGH SPEED JUMPED CURB AN HIT A TREE, HAPPENED IN A COUPLE SECONDS. ## VIN PASSED ## SUBARU OUTBACK 2015 ##
UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION AFTER PARKING, JUMP CURB INTO TREE, CAUSING $7,000 IN DAMAGE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, BOTH MYSELF AND PASSENGER HIT KNEES ON DASH, EVEN WITH OUR SEAT BELTS STILL ON. HAD OTHER COMPUTER ISSUES EARLIER THAT DAY, BACK UP SENSORS DIDN'T WORK WHILE BACKING CAR RIGHT BEHIND MINE. CAR HAS NOW BEEN AT SUBARU FOR A MONTH, WAITING FOR ENGINEERS RESULTS AFTER THEIR INSPECTION 2/14/2018
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 28 MPH, THE CONTACT FELL SLEEP AND STRUCK A GUARDRAIL HEAD ON. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THEIR LOT AND DECLARED IT DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1-286-495891121. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
THIS CONCERNS A 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK LIMITED 6 CYLINDER. AT APPROX 21,000 MI I WAS SLOWING TO SPEED TO PARK IN A PUBLIC PARKING SPACE ON A CITY STREET AND THE OUTBACK SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE OUTBACK HIT A CITY METAL POST/SIGN, JUMPED THE CURB AND COLLIDED WITH A BUILDING AND DAMAGING A STORE FRONT WITH GREAT FORCE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE AUTOMATIC COLLISION PREVENTION FAILED TO WORK. ONCE BEFORE THE CAR HAD AN ACCELERATION SURGE WHILE DRIVING A PUBLIC CITY STREET AT LOW SPEED BUT DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED SLIGHT HESITATION IN ACCELERATION WHEN I FIRST ACCELERATE FROM A STATIONARY POSITION AND PROBABLY UNRELATED, THE GEAR SHIFT OFTEN GETS STUCK IN PARK AND I HAVE TO USE FORCE THE GEAR SHIFT TO REVERSE. HAVING TROUBLE WITH TURNING NECK FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND NEED TO SEE DOCTOR FOR EVALUATION SO, NOT SURE IF THIS IS CONSIDERED INJURY?
I am reporting this deficiency as it is related to: Subaru Battery Drain Products Liability Litigation, No. 1:20-cv-03095-JHR-MJS Deficiency: Battery will discharge to an unusable degree within a relatively short amount of time (10 to 20 min.) when any power is used (radio, cabin lights) while engine is off. This has happened 4 times since my purchase of my new 2015 Subaru Outback. I now carry an emergency battery jump starter power unit so as to not be stranded. As the amount of power used is so small there is no warning from the car's system that the discharge is causing such a power drain as to make starting the car not possible. Although I have been contacted by the above class action suit sponsors I am mostly interested in Subaru fixing the electrical system from this obvious deficiency.
I have a parasitic drain on my battery and I have replaced the battery 3 times. It seems my battery is not the issue, but I am constantly stranded on the road and the dealership just replaces the battery. This last replacement I did at a separate shop on 5/10/2021 because my battery needed to be replaced and I thought putting in a different battery would help. Today (7/21/2021), my car will not start again. This shouldn't happen with a new battery and I don't think it's right that Subaru is not doing anything about this issue. It started happening within the first 3 years I owned this vehicle, when it was under warranty. Their solution was to replace the battery and not actually fix the real issue. This is not okay. I drive this car regularly and there is no reason why my battery should die constantly.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY AT 75 MPH, TRANSMISSION MADE TWO CLUNKING SOUNDS, AND SPEED DECREASED - RPMS INCREASED. WE COULD SMELL OIL BURNING SMELL, BUT NO SMOKE OR LEAKS. WE WERE APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES OUTSIDE OF LAS VEGAS AND 22 MILES INTO OUR TRIP. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND NO DECREASE IN SPEED OR OTHER SIGNS PRIOR TO THE CLUNKS/CLANKS. VEHICLE TOWED TO SUBARU OF LAS VEGAS. FIRST SUBARU TRIED TO SAY REAR DIFFERENTIAL CAUSED. PLEASE SEE DAN'S DRIVELINE INVOICE. NEXT THEY TRIED TO SAY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CAUSED. I CHALLENGED - HOW CAN A FUNCTIONING DIFFERENTIAL CAUSE A TRANSMISSION TO BECOME TOAST? NEXT STEP IS SUBARU HQ TECH TO TEAR DOWN TRANSMISSION. I'M WRITING ON BEHALF OF MY BROTHER, WHO IS DISABLED. THE BATTERY IN HIS 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 OR 3 TIMES SINE HE PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR HIM. HE DOES NOT LEAVE ANYTHING ON IN THE CAR ; LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THEM SO FAR BUT I'M CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT MAY HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE. ONE TIME THE CAR WASN'T DRIVEN FOR A FEW DAYS AND WHEN HE WENT TO START THE CAR,IT DIDN'T. ANOTHER TIME HE BROUGHT THE CAR THROUGH THE CAR WASH AND STOOD OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE WITH THE CAR OFF BUT THER RADIO ON WHILE TALKING TO SOMEONE HE KNEW. WHEN HE GOT BACK IN THE CAR IT WOULDN'T START. HE WAS UNSURE IF THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED A THIRD TIME. WITH THE CURRENT WEATHER TREND IN CONNECTICUT (TEENS, SINGLE DIGITS, BELOW ZERO WITH THE WIND CHILL. PRIOR TO OWNING THIS CAR, HE NEVER REPLACED A BATTERY IN ANY OF HIS OTHER CARS. I HAVE A VEHICLE WITH OVER 138K MILES ON IT AND NEVER REPLACED THE BATTERY. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE, THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR MANY PEOPLE. IT IS TIME THE NHTSA CONTACTS SUBARU TO FIX THIS ISSUE. MY BROTHER IS MOBILE BUT HE CAN'T MOVE QUICKLY. IF HE GOT STUCK IN THE COLD WEATHER WITHOUT HEAT FROM HIS CAR IT WOULD NOT BE A GOOD REFLECTION ON SUBARU OR THE NHTSA. THANK YOU FOR TAKING A CLOSE LOOK AT THIS ISSUE.
I WAS REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE THIRD WHEEL BEARING UNDER WARRANTEE (RIGHT REAR WHEEL) ON MY CAR AT 61359 MILES ON 10OCTOBER2017. THE FIRST BEARING (LEFT REAR WHEEL) WAS REPLACED ON 15JANUARY2016 AND THE SECOND BEARING (LEFT FRONT WHEEL) WAS REPLACED ON 29 JULY AFTER 35270 ELAPSED MILES. DESPITE COMPLAINING TO SUBARU NTN'L HQTRS REQUESTING THAT ALL REMAINING BEARINGS BE REPLACED AFTER THE SECOND BEARING FAILED IT WAS APPARENTLY DECIDED THAT THE REMAINING BEARING BE REPLACED ONLY AFTER FAILING RATHER THAN ACTING PROACTIVELY. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT WHEEL BEARINGS SHOULD MORE OR LESS LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR AND NOT EXPERIENCE THE HIGH FAILURE RATE THAT MY CAR HAS SHOWN. A FRIEND OF MY ALSO OWNS A 2015 OUTBACK AND HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH HIS CAR HAVING TO REPLACE BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS. THERE SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURER'S PRODUCT RECALL ISSUED TO ALL SUBARU OUTBACK OWNERS TO ADDRESS THIS PRODUCT FAILURE AFTER CONSIDERING THE HIGH RATE OF FAILURE FOR THESE BEARINGS EXPERIENCED BY MY FRIEND AND ME. NO ACCIDENT OR INJURIES OCCURRED DURING THESE INSTANCES NOTED FOR BOTH VEHICLES.
2 YEARS, 35000 MILES INTO OWNING NEW 2015 OUTBACK, MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED AN 8 INCH LONG CRACK ORIGINATING FROM THE BOTTOM DRIVER'S SIDE. THIS APPEARED WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE MY WORKPLACE, WITH NO KNOWN WINDSHIELD IMPACTS DRIVING. CONSEQUENTLY, I REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD USING SAFELITE, MATCHING THE WINDSHIELD TYPE VIA VIN. ONLY 2 MONTHS AFTER REPLACEMENT, ANOTHER CRACK DEVELOPED ORIGINATING FROM THE BOTTOM PASSENGER SIDE EDGE, AND QUICKLY SPREAD 3/4 OF THE WAY ACROSS THE BOTTOM. AGAIN, NO IMPACTS WERE WITNESSED TO THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD AGAIN, AS IT LIKELY WILL CRACK IN THE SAME MANNER SOONER OR LATER.
PURCHASED IN AUGUST 2014. YESTERDAY I PUT THE 3RD BATTERY IN THE CAR. THIS SEEMS EXCESSIVE AND MAY INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH DRAW ON THE BATTERY DURING DOWN-TIME. CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKS FINE AND ALSO CHECKED FINE AT THE POINT OF REPLACING THE BATTERY THE OTHER TIMES.
VOICE ACTIVATED NAVIGATION SYSTEM. THE VOICE ACTIVATED NAVIGATION SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE. THIS COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING. I

REAR DOOR HATCH RANDOMLY DOES NOT OPEN, WHETHER I PRESS THE BUTTON ON IT, THE BUTTON INSIDE THE CARE, OR THE KEY FOB. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY, AND ALWAYS WHEN IT IS RAINING OR HAS RAINED. THE DRIVER'S DOOR WILL ALWAYS OPEN (THOUGH NEVER THE PASSENGER DOOR) WITH THE KEY FOB IN PROXIMITY. YOU CAN HEAR THAT THE BACK HATCH UNLATCHES, BUT DOES NOT RAISE UP. CASCADE SUBARU IN OHIO HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT SO IT WORKS AS IT SHOULD. THIS VEHICLE WAS PREOWNED, BOUGHT FROM THE DEALER, AND EXHIBITED THIS PROBLEM FROM THE FIRST DAY WE OWNED IT.
OUR CAR HAS 80K MILES ON IT AND IS ABOUT 6.25 YEARS OLD. WE ARE ON THE 3RD BATTERY. THERE APPEARS TO BE A PENDING LAWSUIT, SO ADDING MY INFORMATION TO THE DATABASE. I HAVE ALL THE SERVICER RECORDS OF WHEN THE BATTERIES WERE REPLACED.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN AIRBAGS DEPLOY, THEY MAY SPRAY METAL DEBRIS TOWARD VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.
I DRIOVE OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONE BLOCK TO STOP SIGN. ONLY GOING 10 OR SO MPH WHEN I DEPRESSED BRAKE TO STOP AT STOP SIGN . POWER BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND UNTIL PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HARD TO FLOOR. THEN WHEN STOPPED THE ENGINE REVED UP AND I DID NOT TAKE MY FOOT OFF BRAKE. THE ENGINE SEEMED TO ROAR LIKE IN A VERY LOW GEAR. I CHECKED GEARS AND PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, THEN PARK AND REVERSE, ENGINE STILL ROARING. BUT AS MY FOOT WAS HARD ON BRAKE, IT DID NOT GO INTO FOUR LANE TRAFFIC AHEAD. I TURNED OFF ENGINE WITH KEY AND THE ENGINE REVING STOPPED..WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN THE BRAKES WORKED NORMALLY AND ACCELERATION WAS NORMAL .IT SEEMED TO RESET AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO SUBARU DEALER FOR REPAIRS ALBEIT VERY SLOWLY. I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE HAD IT TOWED. THERE ARE NO FLOOR MATS IN THE CAR. DRIVER NOT IMPAIRED. THIS OCCURRED AROUND 10 AM ON A CLEAR AUGUST DAY TEMPERATURE AROUND 75 DEGREES .

THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN LEAKING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR IN JAN 2015. ONE DEALER TOLD US THERE WAS NO LEAK AND FINALLY DECIDED IT WAS THE RIGHT DIFFERENTIAL AND REPAIRED THAT. THE TRANSMISSION STILL LEAKED. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER WHERE BOUGHT, THEY FOUND LEAK AND SAID IT WAS REPAIRED BUT IT IS STILL DRIPPING. PLAN ON TAKING IT BACK TO THEM NEXT WEEK. WE KEEP CLEAN CARDBOARD UNDER THE AREA WHERE THE LEAK IS TO PROTECT THE GARAGE FLOOR AND DOCUMENT THE LEAK. LAST REPAIR JULY 25 OF 2017.
VERY DIFFICULT TO START-PROBLEM WITH PUSH TO START BUTTON AND ENGINE NOT GETTING FUEL. VEHICLE STATIONARY IN PARKING LOT. HAVE HAD TO GET JUMP START 3 TIMES
THE BACK UP DISPLAY SCREEN BECOMES UNUSABLE AS A RESULT OF THE TOUCH SENSITIVE SENSORS BECOMING VISIBLE, THUS INTERFERING WITH THE REAR BACK UP CAMERA IMAGE. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT MAKING THE REAR BACK UP CAMERA USELESS. IT ALSO IMPACTS THE ABILITY TO READ ANY OF THE CONTROLS ON THE SCREEN, HOWEVER NOT BEING ABLE TO IDENTIFY OBJECTS WHEN BACKING UP WE BELIEVE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS BEEN GREAT AND HAS REPLACED TWO OF THEM AT NO CHARGE. HOWEVER THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE TOUCH SENSITIVE SCREEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THEIR WIFE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S GLASS FOR THE SUNROOF SUDDENLY SHATTERED. THE CONTACT STATED THEY HAD TO ORDER A NEW SUNROOF FROM TEXAS AUTO TOPS THEN SET AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE SUNROOF REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.

THERE IS A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT SHOWED UP ABOUT 5 MONTHS AND HAS INCREASED IN SIZE. BEFORE BRINING IT TO THE DEALER (NAPOLEON SUBARU IN SCHAUMBURG, IL), I HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE CRACK WAS DUE TO THE FAULTY WINDSHIELD AND NOT BECAUSE OF ANY IMPACT. THERE HAS BEEN NO IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD TO MY KNOWLEDGE AND YET THE CRACK APPEARED AND HAS SPREAD. SUBARU DEALER SAID THAT THE CRACK MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY AN IMPACT BUT AGAIN I DON'T RECOLLECT ANY IMPACT THAT COULD CAUSE THIS. THE SUBARU DEALER SAID HE DID HIS PEN POINT CHECK AND THE CRACK WAS NOT CAUSED BY SUBARU'S FAULT. WHAT THE SUBARU DEALER TOLD ME ABOUT THE PEN POINT CHECK MAKES NO SENSE TO ME ESPECIALLY AS THERE HAS BEEN NO IMPACT TO MY WINDSHIELD. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT SUBARU AND THE DEALER ARE LYING ABOUT THE FAULTY WINDSHIELD AND ARE REFUSING TO REPLACE IT (WHICH I AM ASSUMING IS ALSO A FAULTY OEM PART). I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CARS BEFORE AND I'VE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE. I REPEAT, NEVER BEFORE ON ANY CAR, ESPECIALLY A NEW CAR. I CHECKED WITH A LOCAL MECHANIC AND AGAIN, WAS TOLD THIS WAS LIKELY CAUSED BY FAULTY WINDSHIELD. EITHER TO AVOID ADMITTING FAULT OR TO AVOID PAYING FOR A RECALL FOR THIS ITEM OR FOR AVOIDING LIABILITY IN A LAWSUIT, I DON'T KNOW BUT I FEEL LIKE SUBARU IS DELIBERATELY LYING OR MISREPRESENTING THE FACTS ABOUT IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I SHOULD EXPECT FROM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT BUT I AM WRITING BECAUSE I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS. I HAVE AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH SLIDING THE DRIVER'S WINDOW, IT GOES UP AND RAPIDLY GOES DOWN, IT LOOKS LIKE IT DOESN'T FIT TO THE UPPER FRAME, IT IS ESPECIALLY INCONVENIENT WHILE RAINING. THAT PROBLEM APPEARS WHILE DRIVING OR PARKING.
SUBJECT 2015 OUTBACK CVT TRANSMISSION LURCHES AND BOGS DURING ACCELERATION, WE HAVE TRIED WORKING WITH SUBARU FOR REPAIR HOWEVER, THEY CONSIDER THE UNIT AS WORKING TO WITHIN STANDARD AND WILL NOT REPLACE UNLESS IT FAILS COMPLETELY.
The vehicle EATS batteries on a frequent basis. We are currently on the 4th HIGH QUALITY battery for the vehicle. We live in a rural area so we do not have short frequent trips that would impact a battery. We have had the dealer (Redding Subaru) check the system and they cannot find out why it goes through a battery every 12-16 months. All equipment on the vehicle is stock and none of our driving/storage conditions would impact a vehicle battery. Our previous Subaru's did not have this issue and our current Toyota vehicle is on only its 3rd battery in over 12 years of service. There is obviously some "vampire" issue constantly draining the battery
RIGHT REAR PASSGER WINDOW BLEW OUT AND SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WITH THE SUNROOF CLOSED, THE SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED SENDING MOST OF THE GLASS OUT OF THE CAR, BUT SOME LANDED ON THE DRIVER, PASSENGER, AND CENTER ARMREST. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES WITHIN A MILE OF IT. WE WERE WEARING SUNGLASSES WHICH PROTECTED OUR EYES. THE CAUSE WAS AND STILL REMAINS UNKNOWN.
LARGE CRACK IN WINDSHIELD WITHOUT ANY IMPACT. STARTS AT THE BOTTOM MIDDLE OF THE CAR AND BRANCHES OUT IN BOTH DIRECTIONS.
CONTINUOUS VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT). THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN SUDDENLY MOTIONLESS, ENGINE REVVED UP AT 3500 RPM BUT THE CVT REMAINED UNRESPONSIVE. PACED SHIFT GEAR TO PARK POSITION THEN TO DRIVE GEAR THEN THE VEHICLE MOVED-UP VERY SLOW THEN IT PULLED FORWARD TO A NORMAL DRIVEABLE CONDITION. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED IN 2017, 2018, 2019. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP 2X TESTED THE VEHICLE BUT, NO PROBLEM FOUND AND NO MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE WAS RELEASE. SEVERAL SUBARU OWNERS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, ON 2013 - 2015 OUTBACK MODELS.THE BATTERY ON 2015 OUTBACK MODEL LIKE MINE, HAD REPLACED IN 2017 WHILE UNDER WARRANTY UP TO 3 - YEARS. LATELY, THE BATTERY DIED SEVERAL TIMES, TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER FOR TEST AND REPLACEMENT BUT, THE 3 - YEARS WARRANTY WAS OVER FROM ITS ORIGINAL PURCHASED. THE WARRANTY SHOULD BE APPLIED ON THE SECOND BATTERY REPLACEMENT THAT RUNS FOR THE NEXT 36 - MONTHS. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER THE VEHICLE HAS, TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER LAST JULY 2020, A SRVICE ADVISOR ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE DROVE FOR TESTING THEN CAME BACK WITH NOTHING WRONG ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PER MECHANIC ASSESSMENT. THE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE WAS CRACKED AND IT WAS REPAIRED AS PART OF MANUFACTURER RECALLS. THERE ARE ISSUES ON THIS MODEL REFERRING TO THE CVT, BATTERY, INFOTAINMENT GOT FREEZED, NO DATA ON SCREEN, ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION TO FAST. THE MAIN ISSUE FOR ME IS THE "SAFETY ISSUE." WHICH IS THE TRANSMISSION. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN 2017, 2018, 2019.
SRVD SYSTEM KEEPING GETTING DISABLED FROM NO REASON, RANDOMLY.
REAR ELECTRIC LIFTGATE SPORADICALLY FAILS TO OPEN. THIS CONDITION PERSISTS WHETHER I PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE LIFTGATE, THE DASHBOARD LIFTGATE BUTTON, OR THE KEY FOB BUTTON. I CAN HEAR THE LIFTGATE UNLATCH, HOWEVER IT FAILS TO OPEN MORE THAN A COUPLE INCHES. LITHIA SUBARU (OREGON CITY) HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR. WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE NEW FROM THE DEALER. IT HAS EXHIBITED THIS PROBLEM FROM THE FIRST DAY WE OWNED IT. SUBARU SHOULD RECALL AND FIX ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL STRONGLY THIS IS AN DESIGN DEFECT OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS SPORADIC CONDITION PRESENTS ITSELF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, BOTH WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND WHEN IT IS NOT. THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY SET OF CONDITIONS UPON WHICH I CAN CAUSE OR PREDICT THE FAILURE.
WHILE PULLING MY FATHER-IN-LAWS SUBARU OUTBACK INTO MY GARAGE I PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR PROCEEDED INTO GARAGE FIRST HITTING THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR FRAME AND THEN INTO THE BACK OF MY OTHER CAR WHICH WAS PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE. I INSTINCTIVELY APPLIED GREATER PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE BUT THIS DID NOT STOP THE CAR. WHEN THE CAR WEDGED AGAINST THE RIGHT SIDE COLUMN OF THE GARAGE I RELEASED THE BRAKE AND REAPPLIED IMMEDIATELY. THIS ACTION CAUSED THE CAR TO DECELERATE TO AN IDLE MODE. I'VE BEEN DRIVING A LONG TIME AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE LIKE THIS BEFORE. I NOTICED OTHERS HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEMS AS REPORTED ON THIS SITE. THERE WAS NO FLOOR MAT OBSTRUCTION SO I CAN ONLY CONCLUDE THERE IS A POSSIBLE SOFTWARE ISSUE. *TR
AT TEMPERATURE 48 F, SAT IN STATIONARY CAR FOR 30 MIN WITH RADIO ON, LIGHTS ON. BATTERY RAN ALL THE WAY DOWN. HAD TO GET A JUMP. AT TEMPERATURE 36 F, SAT IN STATIONARY CAR 20 MIN. WITH RADIO OFF, LIGHTS OFF. BATTERY RAN ALL THE DAY DOWN. HAD TO GET A JUMP. SUBARU SAYS THAT BATTERY TESTS NORMAL ON GR-8 TEST AND THAT CURRENT DRAW IS NORMAL AT THIS TIME .010A-.027A. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE BATTERY IS NOT EQUIPPED TO SUPPORT ITS ELECTRICAL NEEDS. COULD KEY SYSTEM BE A FACTOR? SUBARU WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BEYOND THE ABOVE TESTS. THERE ARE OTHER REPORTS LIKE THIS ON INTERNET SITES. MY CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE IS ERODED.
DEFECTIVE/DELICATE WINDSHIELD. DRIVING AT 65MPH ON SMOOTH HIGHWAY IN RAIN. PUT DEFROSTERS ON. WINDSHIELD CRACK ON DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT 12" FROM BOTTOM. RUNS TO ABOUT 2' BEFORE STOPPING. CLOSEUP INSPECTION REVEALS NO MISSING MATERIAL OR CHIP INDICATIVE OF IMPACT.
WHILE BRAKING TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT FROM A HIGHWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT HOLD THE CAR. ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED. SYMPTOM ONLY LASTED 2-3 SECONDS.
