EXPERIENCED FREQUENT OCCURRENCES OF DEAD BATTERY (THAT WAS ONLY 8 MONTHS OLD). DEALER REPLACED BATTERY BUT I CONTINUED TO HAVE INTERMITTENT ISSUES OVER THE NEXT YEAR. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER IN AUG 2020 FOR ANALYSIS, WAS TOLD NO ISSUE, IT JUST ISN'T DRIVEN ENOUGH, AND RECOMMENDED BATTERY MAINTAINER INSTALL OR GEL BATTERY. ISSUE CAN OCCUR WHETHER CAR WAS DRIVEN YESTERDAY OR A WEEK AGO. WAS TOLD BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT BATTERY INSTALLED AT DEALER WAS TOO WEAK SO I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY IN FEB 2021 AND HAVE BEEN MONITORING VOLTAGE. WHILE I HAVE NOT HAD A COMPLETELY DEAD BATTERY SINCE THEN, THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW SLUGGISH STARTS. VOLT METER SHOWS BATTERY DROPS BELOW 12V WITHIN HOURS AFTER BEING DRIVEN. I ENSURE THAT NO LIGHTS ARE LEFT ON, NOR IS ANYTHING PLUGGED INTO CHARGING PORTS, TO MITIGATE DRAINAGE AND BELIEVE THERE IS PHANTOM DRAIN/ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION SOMEWHERE IN THE SYSTEM.
HAVE TO REPLACE WINDSHIELD FOR 2ND TIME ON 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. CRACKS HAVE BEEN BOTH TIMES ON DRIVERS SIDE FROM BOTTOM UP UNDER WIPER WITH NO CHIPS ON WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE 2015 AND 16 OUTBACKS WHICH SUBARU LOST BUT SO FAR THEY ARE NOR COVERING THE 2017 MODELS WHICH IS HAS A DIFFERENT WINDSHIELD BUT HAVING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CRACKING BOTH TIMES WAS FIRST NOTED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE OUR GARAGE.
WINDSHIELD APPEARED TO SPONTANEOUSLY CRACK FROM CENTER MIDDLE UPWARD - NO IMPACT OR OTHER CAUSE NOTED. DATE OF INCIDENT IS APPROXIMATE.
CAN NOT REMOVE KEY AFTER TURNING CAR OFF. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, IN PARK AND ENGINE OFF WHEN THIS OCCURS. KEY STAYS IN COLUMN. SLAMMING SHIFT LEVER A FEW TIMES SOMETIMES FREES IT UP. SUBARU CLAIMS IT'S NOT A RECALL ISSUE. BEEN HAPPENING EACH DAY THE LAST WEEK.
BATTERY DEAD SEVERAL TIMES. HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT JUMPED SIX TIMES. BATTERY REPLACED BY DEALER ONCE. I NOTE THAT MANY SUBARU OWNERS HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT OR WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS, INCLUDING LITHIA RENO SUBARU (775-800-5534, LOCATED AT 2270 KIETZKE LN, RENO, NV 89502). BOTH DEALERS INSISTED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS IMPACTED BY SOMETHING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED IN JULY 2019 AND I NOTICED THAT THE SUBARU DEALER WE PURCHASED IT FROM HAD REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. NOW ITS BEEN ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND THE WINDSHIELD HAS DEVELOPED A SPONTANEOUS CRACK ON THE BOTTOM ABOUT 9 INCHES LONG IN A S SHAPE. THE CAR WAS PARKED ON MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS OCCURED. I BELIEVE THERE MUST BE SOME KIND OF DEFECTIVE DESIGN ON THESE VEHICLES. I HAVE READ THAT EVEN 2019 SUBARU OUTBACKS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. SUBARU CLAIMS THAT A FLAW IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER DEICER ELEMENT CAUSES THE CRACKS ON 2015-16 MODELS BUT IF THATS THE CASE, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO THE MODEL YEARS UP TO 2019? THE BODY STYLE FROM 2015-2019 ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME. I BELIEVE SUBARU IS AWARE OF THIS AND DOES NOT WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM.
THE GEAR SHIFTER DOES NOT GO IN TO PARK COMPLETELY ALLOWING FOR RELEASE OF THE KEY. THERE IS A 'RESET' YOU CAN DO IN THE CENTER CONSOLE OR THEY WILL REPLACE THE SHIFTER SOLVING THE PROBLEM.
THE KEYS COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION AFTER SHIFTING THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURNING THE CAR OFF. THE PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED AROUND SEPTEMBER 2019 (APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES). OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS THE PROBLEM PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE, AND REQUIRED SHIFTING FROM NEUTRAL TO PARK MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL THE KEYS COULD BE REMOVED. THE SELECT LEVER ASSEMBLY (PART 35111AL00B) WAS REPLACED WITH THE NEWER VERSION (PART 35111AL00C) WHICH FIXED THE ISSUE. THE ORIGINAL SELECT LEVER ASSEMBLY (35111AL00B) WAS TESTED AND IT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE "P" RANGE SWITCH. RESISTANCE ACROSS SELECT LEVER ASSEMBLY PINS 1 AND 2 SHOWED A RESISTANCE OF 2-3 OHMS WHEN THE SELECT LEVER WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. THE SERVICE MANUAL STATES THAT THE "P" RANGE SWITCH RESISTANCE SHOULD BE LESS THAN 1 OHM WHEN IN THE PARK POSITION. THIS HIGH RESISTANCE LIKELY CAUSED THE IGNITION TO FAIL TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND PREVENTED THE KEYS FROM BEING REMOVED.
WINDSHIELD CRACKING.
THE COOLANT LOOSE AND HAS COOLANT SMELL AFTER DRIVE A CAR. I HAD SEVERAL SAME REASON SERVICE. THEY NOTHING WRONG THEY FILL UP COOLANT THAT'S IT. NOW ALMOST EMPTY RESERVOIR. AND IT'S OVER LIMITED WARRANTY. IT'S 36059 MILES.
MY OUTBACK HAS HORRIBLE WIND NOISE. ITS SO LOUD I CANT USE THE BLUETOOTH PHONE, NOR LISTEN TO THE RADIO. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND WILL IMPACT MY NEXT PURCHASE.
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND A CRACK APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK QUICKLY GREW TO COVER A LARGE PORTION OF THE DRIVER'S FIELD OF VIEW.
OUR OUTBACK WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. THIS MORNING MY WIFE DISCOVERED A LARGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. IT'S APPROXIMATELY 7 INCHES LONG. I'VE READ ON SEVERAL WEBSITES THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH LATE MODEL SUBARUS. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP US?
MY VEHICLE, WHILE STATIONARY WITHOUT ANYTHING PLUGGED IN OR RUNNING (I.E. AC), HAS THE BATTERY DIE. THE VEHICLE IS A 2018, AND THIS HAPPENED 08/24/2019. I BELIEVE A BATTERY TO BE A MAINTENANCE ITEM, BUT BEING LESS THEN 2 YEARS OLD UNDER 'NORMAL' USE IS CONTRARY TO INDUSTRY OR MANUFACTURER STANDARDS, WHICH I BELIEVE THE UNEXPECTED TIMING AND NATURE CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE. I REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH SUBARU'S; HOWEVER, NEVER RECEIVED ANY ADVISEMENT OR NOTIFICATION FROM THE COMPANY.
CAR STALLED (4X'S AT LEAST) WHEN MAKING TURNS; STALLED AFTER PASSING A CAR WHEN I RETURNED TO MY LANE WITH HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE WE PURCHASED CAR. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, EACH TIME THE RESULT WAS "THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM", ONCE THEY SAID THEY ADJUSTED THE SOFTWARE TO CORRECT PROBLEM, RESULT DIDN'T SEEM TO IMPROVE.
MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED AND SPREAD TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD TO REPLACE IT. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE WHEN IT CRACKED. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR THE CRACK SPREAD THE ENTIRE SPAN OF THE WINDSHIELD.
YESTERDAY MORNING, I STOPPED MY SUBARU IN ORDER TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE AND I WAS CHANGING GEARS FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE, THE ENGINE STARTED ACCELERATING FULL-THROTTLE. I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM GOING DOWN THE HILLSIDE BEHIND THE PARKING LOT. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE REVVING FULL-THROTTLE AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER THIS INCIDENT THE CAR OPERATED NORMALLY ' UNTIL TODAY. TODAY, MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE ' UNTIL, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, I ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE GEARS FROM PARK TO DRIVE. AGAIN THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED FULL-THROTTLE. AS I WAS MOVING THE GEAR SHIFTER FROM PARK TO REVERSE TO NEUTRAL TO DRIVE, I AGAIN HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM BACKING INTO MY GARAGE DOOR. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY SUBARU DEALER BUT COULD NOT REACH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER 10-12 RINGS I GOT A MESSAGE INSTRUCTING ME TO LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR THEM TO CALL ME BACK SINCE THEY WERE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING HEAVY CALL VOLUME DUE TO AN INCREASE IN RECALL ISSUES. I CALLED BACK AND GOT THROUGH TO SOMEONE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO THEM. THEY SAID THEY WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM ON SUBARU OUTBACKS.
MY 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK TOURING CRACKED MY WINDSHIELD.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON I-80 IN NEBRASKA. WITH NO TRAFFIC AROUND, HER SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OR ANYTHING AHEAD FO THE EVENT. LUCKILY THE HEADLINER SHADE WAS CLOSED SO THE DIDN'T GET HIT BY GLASS AND WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE SUBARU IN TOWN ON A PAVED ROAD HER WHEN SHE HEARD A POP/CRACK NOISE. A CRACK BECAME VISIBLE IMMEDIATELY AND AFTER SHE TOOK A LUNCH BREAK AND RETURNED TO THE CAR, THE CRACK HAD EXPANDED FURTHER INTO HER LINE OF SITE. THE CRACK STARTED IN THE LOWER CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS HAPPENED IN MID AUGUST 2019. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD IN SEPTEMBER SINCE IT INTERFERED WITH HER VISIBILITY. I HAVE A PHOTO WHICH IS TOO LARGE (OVER 5MB) TO BE ACCEPTED BY THIS FORM.
THE BATTERY DIES IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEN FOR A FEW DAYS. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE IN THE H LAST YEAR AND A HALF. THE SUBARU DEALER HAS CHECKED IT OUT SEVERAL TIMES AND CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE DIMMERS FOR THE REARVIEW MIRRORS. SHE STATED THAT SHE COULD NOT SEE OUT OF THE MIRRORS AND THE MIRRORS THEMSELVES WERE TOO DARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD TINTED WINDOWS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DUNNING SUBARU (3771 JACKSON RD, ANN ARBOR, MI 48103, (734) 662-3444) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TINTED WINDOWS WERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
CANNOT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION WHEN IN PARK. MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS ONLINE, AND THE DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING ME TO CHECK WHAT THE ISSUE IS. WHEN IN PARK, STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT, NOT ON A SLOPE, THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. CAN TURN IT OFF, BUT CAN'T REMOVE THE KEY. SOMETIMES JIGGLING, SOMETIMES STARTING AND TURNING BACK OFF, AND SOMETIMES STARTING, PUTTING IN DRIVE, AND SLAMMING THE SHIFTER INTO PARK AGAIN SOLVES THE ISSUE, BUT SOMETIMES NOT. SPENT OVER 20 MINUTES TODAY TRYING TO GET IT OUT, DROVE TO THE DEALER, AND IT CAME OUT WITHOUT AN ISSUE. NO CONSISTENCY TO THE ISSUE.
REPEATED ISSUES WITH REAR LIFT GATE. INCLUDING NOT OPENING AND STICKING AN ANIMAL IN THE BACK AND NOT SHUTTING COMPLETING HOWEVER GIVING THE INDICATION OF SHUT. TODAY 7-25-19, I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES AN HOUR AND THE LIFTGATE NOT SHUT LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH DURING THE MORNING COMMUNICATE. THERE WAS NO SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER UNTIL 10 MINUTES LATER. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR IT APPEARED TO BE SHUT HOWEVER I HAD TO PUSH ON THE BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO SHUT IT. LUCKILY MY DOG WAS NOT IN THE CAR AT THE TIME, BUT THIS CAN POSE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF ACTUALLY CAME OPEN. I HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT THEY SAID THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING IF THEY CANNOT RECREATE IT THEY ONLY RESET THE SENSOR. THIS WAS THE FINAL DRAW FOR ME AND I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. NOTE: PICTURE TAKEN WAS WHEN I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKS AND CHIPS WAY TOO EASILY.
TIRE FAILURE AT LOW MILEAGE. TIRES NOT PASSING SAFETY INSPECTION AFTER APPX 20,000 USE. TREAD DOWN TO 4//32. TIRES PURCHASED AT COSTCO . LINE IS MICHELIN PREMIER A/S . MULTI VISITS TO COSTCO TO INSPECT AFTER TWO INDEPENDENT TIRE INSPECTORS STATED THEY WOULD NOT PASS SAFETY INSPECTION WITH WEAR BARES CLOSE TO TREAD SUFACE. COSTCO REFUSED TO CALL FAILURE STATING THAT IS NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE OF TIRES. THE RATING WAS AT LEAST 60.000 MILES. THERE WAS A RECENT ROAD HAZARD THAT PUNCTURED FRONT TIRE AND COSTCO WANTED TO CHARGE FOR NEW FRONT TIRE. VERY UNSTATISFIED WITH TIRES, FREQUENT SLIPPING AND LOSS OF TRACTION ON SNOW AND RAIN. UNSAFE.
WAS SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A CITY STREET, THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I ACCELERATED THROUGH THE LIGHT AND AFTER 100-200 YARDS, THE CAR ACCELERATED WIDE-OPEN ON ITS OWN. I HIT ONE CAR ON THE RIGHT REAR AND REAR-ENDED ANOTHER WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE. ALL THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
BATTERY DIED LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. CAR WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THE BATTERY WAS DEAD.
THE CAR DIES VERY QUICKLY. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW, AND IT ONLY TOOK ABOUT A YEAR BEFORE THE CAR STARTED DYING FOR NO REASON. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT THE CAR WOULD STILL DRAIN THE BATTERY OVERNIGHT. WE TOOK TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE CANNOT FIND WHAT IS DRAWING THE ENERGY. NOW, IF WE LEAVE THE DOORS OPEN FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES THE CAR WILL DIE. IT IS COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE AT THIS POINT, AND I HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE A TRAVEL "JUMPER" KIT IN ORDER TO NOT GET STRANDED. IT SEEMS VERY RANDOM HOW IT WILL DIE. IT CAN JUST BE SITTING IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT (FROM 5 PM TO 8 AM), WITH NOTHING RUNNING, NO DOORS OPEN, NO LIGHTS ON, BUT WILL BE FULLY DRAINED.
DRIVER FRONT DOOR LOCK AND UNLOCK FAILED. DOESN'T OPERATE WITH FOB OR KEY. LOCK AND UNLOCK INTERIOR SWITCH DOESN'T WORK EITHER,NO AFFECT.
IN LATE 2019 I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH MY WINDSHIELD. I WASH MY CAR 2X A WEEK AND PARK INSIDE A GARAGE EVERY NIGHT. I STARTED SEEING LIGHT CRACKS FORMING ON THE WINDSHIELD OUT OF THE BLUE. FAST FORWORD TO 2020 I NOW HAVE MULTIPLE FEINT CRACKS AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE WITH THE FEAR IT WILL CRACK MORE.
The original battery completely died a year or two ago and the replacement battery completely died four months ago.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED
Battery drain due to electrical issues. Two replaced batteries in under 2 years.
THE GEAR SHIFT DOES NOT ENGAGE FULLY IN PARK WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. IF IT IS NOT ENGAGED FULLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF, THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED AND THE GEAR SHIFT CAN SLIDE FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND NEUTRAL WITHOUT PRESSING THE GEAR SHIFT BUTTON. IT IS NECESSARY TO RESTART THE CAR SOMETIMES TWO OR THREE TIMES IN ORDER FOR PARK TO FULLY ENGAGE. TWICE WHEN THE CAR WAS IDLING IN PARK IT DID NOT ENGAGE FULLY AND SLID INTO REVERSE. THE SECOND TIME CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BUT NO INJURIES. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO WARNING INDICATORS TO DATE.
THE BATTERY LIFE WAS TERRIBLE AND IT FINALLY DIED ON A TRIP EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD. THERE SEEMS TO BE A BATTERY DRAIN ISSUE ON THESE CARS THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE PROBLEM.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR STRUT COMPLETELY COLLAPSED/FAILED AT 45000 MILES. I REPLACED (NOT AN EASY JOB) WITH SAME KYB OE PART.
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED CRACK FROM UNDER DRIVER'S WIPER UP AND ACROSS 3 INCHES THEN ACROSS TO UP TO ABOVE OTHER WIPER THEN UP IN HALF CIRCLE AND BACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. CAR HAD BEEN PARKED.

THE CONTACT CALLED GANLEY SUBARU OF BEDFORD (123 BROADWAY AVE, BEDFORD, OH 44146, (440) 439-3444) FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 146834249388. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND SMALL PEBBLE STRUCK CENTER OF WINDSHIELD. AT THE TIME OF IMPACT NO VISUAL DAMAGE TO WINDSHIELD. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES ON THE WAY TO HOME WHEN THE LOWER CENTER OF WINDSHIELD CRACKED. CRACK IS ESTIMATED 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER.

POSSIBLE STRUCTURAL DESIGN ISSUE THAT CAUSES THE FRONT WINDSHIELD TO CRACK. OEM WINDSHIELD CRACKED SUDDENLY A YEAR AGO. THE CRACK STARTED AT THE VERY TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE CENTER. NO APPARENT STONE CHIPS OR OTHER DAMAGE TO ATTRIBUTE THIS TO. ABOUT 8 WEEKS AGO THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD ALSO CRACKED, THIS TIME STARTING UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE HOOD AREA, AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE'S NO WAY FOR A ROCK OR OTHER OBJECT TO IMPACT THIS AREA, WHICH, GIVEN THE SUDDEN LARGE CRACKS THAT APPEARED, LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THERE'S A STRUCTURAL STRESS ISSUE COMING TO PLAY ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. AS THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS A STRUCTURAL SAFETY COMPONENT OF THE VEHICLE, I BELIEVE THIS CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE LONG TERM, NOT TO MENTION A SIZABLE ANNUAL EXPENSE BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND HAVING THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS RECALIBRATED FOR THE NEW GLASS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON THE ROAD LESS THAN THREE YEARS. THE 'WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN' DATE SELECTED BASED ON THIS YEARS CRACKING. I DIDN'T TAKE PHOTOS OF LAST YEARS CRACKED WINDSHIELD. CURRENT CRACKED WINDSHIELD STILL IN THE VEHICLE.
THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHEN THE CAR WAS GARAGED. THERE WAS NO ROCK OR OTHER DAMAGE TO CAUSE IT. IT HAS SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT IS PROHIBITIVELY EXPENSIVE AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO SUBARU.
THE ATTACHED INVOICES ARE A RESULT OF NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED SINCE OWNING THE OUTBACK. EACH TIME I WOULD GO FOR SERVICE WITH KEY FOBS NOT WORKING THE EMPLOYEES WERE SO RUDE AND SPENT ALL THEIR TIME MAKING ME FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE LEFT IN TEARS MANY TIMES. THE RADIO AND BLUETOOTH WERE NOT WORKING RIGHT FROM DAY ONE. WHEN I COMPLAINED TO GRAYSON IN KNOXVILLE HE DIALED A LOCAL NUMBER IN KNOXVILLE AND SAID "NOTHING WRONG" WITH THE TELEPHONE SYSTEM I STILL STRUGGLE WITH CALLS THRU THE BLUETOOTH. EARL DUFF IN HARRIMAN HAS BEEN THE MOST CONSIDERATE OF ALL THE OTHERS. HOWEVER, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT AT 58,000 MILES, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS OUT OF COMMISSION. RIGHT NOW I AM DRIVING WITH EVERY ONE OF THE DIGITAL INDICATORS ON. CANNOT USE CRUISE CONTROL. THE REAR HATCH ONLY RAISES ABT 1/4 OF THE HIGHTH THAT IT SHOULD. I HAVE HEARD SO MANY GOOD THINGS ABOUT A SUBARU AND HAD TO HAVE ONE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUR DISAPPOINTMENT FROM THE MENTIONED DEALERS. RIGHT NOW THE CAR IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. IT STILL RUNS BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING.
CAMERA DISPLAY DOES NOT ALWAYS DISPLAY THE REAR VIEW IMAGE WHILE BACKING UP. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS 5/25/2019.
TOUCH SCREEN MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM FREEZES AND MAKES HANDFREE CALLING, VOICE COMMANDS AND OTHER FUNCTIONS ON SCREEN AND CERTAIN CONTROL FUNCTIONS ON STEERING WHEEL INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING. OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY BUT HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE.
MY WINDSHIELD WAS STRUCK WITH DEBRIS WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A 35MPH ROAD. THE CHIP IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO CRACK IN TWO DIRECTIONS. I HAVE A EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM SUBARU THAT IS FOR WINDSHIELD PROTECTION, WHICH MY DEALER SAID WILL NOT COVER.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON
I am the original owner of a 2017 Subaru Outback Limited. There is an undiagnosed drain on the electrical system that causes the car not to start. The first time I replaced the battery, but two months later the car wouldn't start after being left in the garage over the weekend. I had to call AAA to jump the car. The Subaru dealership couldn't find any issues with the electrical system or the battery. A month later, I drove it to work and the car wouldn't start when I got in it to go home and had to be jumped to start. About three weeks later we made a six-hour road trip, parked the car at the hotel and not only would it not start in the morning, it was so dead that the back hatch wouldn't open so I could get the jumper cables out of the spare tire compartment. Fortunately a good samaritan in the parking lot had cables and jump started the car. If I park the car Friday night and don't drive it Saturday it won't start Sunday. I had to buy a battery charger for the garage so that I can jump it if it won't start. When I know I am not going to drive for more than a day, I now disconnect the battery cables so it will start when I drive it next. Ridiculous for a four year-old car with 63,000 miles.
