GAS GUAGE READS EMPTY WHEN THERE IS GAS IN THE TANK
WHEN PULLING MY 2000 LIMITED 4WD 4 RUNNER BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY OVER A 1INCH PIECE OF ASPHALT MY ENTIRE WHEEL CAME OFF, CAUSING MY VEHCLE TO FLIP. IN ADDITION, THAT 4RUNNER AND THE REPLACEMENT 2000 4WD 4RUNNER'S ANTISKID/ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED AND LOCKED WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES WHILE HITTING A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE DOESN'T STOP AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED A NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS BOTH WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND WITH PEOPLE IN THE CROSSWALK. *AK
ORIGINAL DRIVER'S DOOR REAR VIEW MIRROR WAS BAD, IMAGE WAS DISTORTED, EYES COULDN'T FOCUS. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE MIRROR AND/OR ENTIRE ASSEMBLY 3 TIMES, STILL NOT FIXED. I'M WORKING ON GETTING IT REPLACED AGAIN....
CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH EXCESSIVE VIBRATION WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. ENTIRE VEHICLE VIBRATES. *NM
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR GLASS IS WARPED. ALL OTHER VEHICLES ON LOT HAD SAME PROBLEM. BBS FEEDBACK INDICATES OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM. TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO ORDER A RECALL. PEOPLE WHO HAVE ASKED AND GOT REPLACEMENT MIRRORS/GLASS HAVE FOUND SAME PROBLEM (WARPAGE) EXISTS ON REPLACEMENT MIRRORS. IMAGE IN MIRROR IS DISTORTED AND IS A NUISANCE IF NOT ALSO A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. PROBLEM IS UNIQUE TO DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR- PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS FINE. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR IS WARPED. REPLACEMENT WAS ORDERED AND IT WAS WARPED AS WELL. *AK
SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY NEW VEHICLE, I NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR-VIEW MIRROR WAS WARPED. I WENT TO A LOCAL DEALER AND IT WAS REPLACED AS A WARRANTY ITEM, BUT THE REPLACEMENT WAS WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL. A NEW MIRROR WAS ORDERED, AND IT WAS WARPED JUST AS BADLY AS THE ONE THAT WAS INSTALLED (THE THIRD WAS NEVER INSTALLED). THE DEALER SAID TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED, AND NOW REFUSES TO TAKE ANYMORE ACTION TO REPLACE THE MIRROR, OR TELL ME IN WRITING WHAT IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. *AK
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 45-50 MILE PER HOUR IN SLIGHT RAIN. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SLIDE TO THE LEFT AND HIT THE MIDDLE GUARD RAIL AND AND ROLLED OVER. THIS WAS NOT HAPPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE WHEN THE VEHICLE ONLY A MONTH OLD(1500 MILES). I TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT 'S JUST OUT OF SPECS AND ON THE REPAIR STATEMENT DID NOT SHOWN THAT IT HAS BEEN FIXED OR NOT.*AK
CONSUMER'S FRIEND CALLED & STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND CONSUMER DIED. HE AND A FRIEND WERE DRIVING ON A DIRT ROAD AND THEY WERE TURNING AROUND THE CORNER AND HIT A CURB, BACK WHEELCAUGHT GRAVEL INSIDE OF THE WHEEL AND THE TRUCK TURNED OVER. DRIVER WAS THROWN THOUGH THE SUN ROOF. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. PASSENGER WAS THROWN OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW. DRIVER WAS A FATALITY. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR WARPED CAUSING DISTRACTION. REPLACED 3 TIMES, STILL WARPED. CALLED TOYOTA CANADA, SAYS IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT NO FIX EXISTS. INTERNET SHOWS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. *AK
WHEN DRIVING SLOW LY AND APPLYING THE BRAKES AND CAR GOES OVER A BUMP, ANTI-LOCK BRAKES MAY OR MAY NOT KICK IN. CONSUMER TOOK HIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING IN SNOW AND APPLYING BRAKES, THE BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD NOT KICK IN, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLIDE INTO ANTOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATON. *AK
THE FUEL GAUGE IS INACCURATE. IT DID NOT READ THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, AND STATED THEIR WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. *AK
FUEL GUAGE DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. *ET
THE TIRE HAS NOT ACTUALLY FAILED. THE TIRE SHOWED IRREGULAR WEAR AFTER A TRIP OF 2500 MILES. THE TIRE WAS MOVED TO THE REAR AND IS PRESENTLY MAKING A HUMMING NOISE. I WILL PROCEDE TO FIRESTONE THIS WEEK TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT.*AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 205/15 )
FUEL TANK DOES NOT FILL UP TO THE ADVERTISED 18.5 GALLONS. WHEN THE FUEL GACE IS ON EMPTY, IT ONLY FILLS UP TO 14.5 GALLONS.
DEFECTIVE FUEL GAUGE
WHILE DRIVING EXTREME VIBRATIONS OCCURRED IN THE FRONT END OF VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM BECAME MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. ALSO, BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS PREMATURELY WORE OUT. CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK
A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR TOYOTA ECHOS IN CERTAIN GEOGRAPHIC LOCATIONS (APPARENTLY AREAS IN WHICH THE WEATHER IS COLD/FREEZING)WASHINGTON IS NOT ONE OF THE STATES INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CONTACT WITH TOYOYA HAS CONFIRMED THAT MY ECHO WILL NOT BE REPAIRED. I LIVE IN EASTERN WASHINGTON WHERE TEMPERATURES AND WEATHER CONDITIONS IN THE WINTER ARE THE EQUAL OF MOST OF THE STATES LISTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL BE OPERATING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE ON ICY /SNOWY ROADS WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF POOR BRAKING CONTROL AND ABILITY. THE RECALL SHOULD BE APPLIED TO ALL GEOGRAPHIC LOCATIONS.*AK
VETILATION SYSTEM IS EMITTING SOME TYPE OF ODOR WHICH GIVES THE PASSANGER IN THE FRONT SEAT A HEADACHE AND CAUSES DIZZINESS. DEALER HAS SAID THAT IT IS FROM A CHEMICAL REACTION IN THE PLASTIC IN COMBINATION WITH THE HAET AND THE CHEMICALS USED AIR CONDITIONER. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE VENTS SHOULD BE SPRAYED WITH SOME TYPE OF FRESHENER THEY USE ON A WEEKLY BASIS TO ELIMINATE THE ODORS. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE CONTACTING US SO THEY CAN CHANGE THE MATERIAL USED IN THE VENTS TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM ALL TOGETHER. *AK
THEIR IS A KNOCKING SOUND IN ENGINE WHEN ACCELERATOR IS APPLIED. DEALR HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
THERE IS NOISE COMING FROM CLUTCH PEDAL WHICH CAUSED PREMATURE FAILURE OF CLUTCH.*AK
CONSUMER TEST DROVE A VEHICLE WITH POWER SEATS BUT PURCHASED A VEHICLE WITH MANUAL SEATS AND A MOON ROOF, CONSUMER HEAD BRUSHES THE CIELING WITH THE SEAT IN A COMFORTABLE POSITION, CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE THAT THE ADDITION OF THE MOON ROOF DECREASED HEADROOM BY 2" AND THAT MANUAL SEATS COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED LOWER LIKE THE POWER SEATS, WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS THE CONSUMER OCCASIONALLY HITS HIS HEAD ON THE MOONROOF HOUSING CAUSING MILD INJURY. NLM
THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR IS WARPED, MAKING IT DIFFUCULT TO FOCUS ON OBJECTS. THERE ARE 2 IMAGES OF OBJECTS BEHIND THE VEHICLE. IT MAKES IT DIFFUCULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THERE APPEARS TO BE TWICE AS MANY HEADLIGHTS AS THERE ACTUALLY ARE. I'VE HAD THE MIRROR REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE SEAT BELT RELEASE MECHANISM FAILS TO RETAIN CHILD PROPERLY, IT ONLY TAKES A VERY LIGHT TOUCH TO RELEASE THE LATCH AND REMOVE THE SEAT BELT, THE 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD CAN AND DOES UNDO THE BELT THAT HOLDS THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT WHILE THE CONSUMER IS DRIVING. NLM
THE VEHICLE HAS THE BRAKE SYSTEM FOR A 15 INCH RIM, HOWEVER VEHICLE CAME STOCKED WITH 16 INCH RIMS WHICH REQUIRES A LARGER 16 INCH ROTOR, THE CONSUMER REQUESTS THAT THE DEALER PROVIDE THE VEHICLE WITH THE APPROPRIATE ROTOR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED POOR BRAKING AND PREMATURE WEAR OF THE BRAKES. WHENEVER BRAKES ARE APPLIED WOULD HAVE VIBRATIONS WHILE GOING UP AND DOWN HILLS. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, AND HAD ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED DUE TO WARPING.*AK
VEHICLE WAS MOVING ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR INTO A PARKING SPOT WHILE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING PRESSED , ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS AN INSTANT ENGINE SURGE WHICH PROPELLED THE VEHICLE OVER THE PARKING LOT MEDIA AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER CAR. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH TIRE EQUIPMENT ON 2000 TOYOTA 4-RUNNER. *MR THERE WAS A NOISE AND VIBRATION WITHIN THE TIRES WITH THREE DIFFERENT BRAND OF TIRES AND ARE AS FOLLOWED: FIRESTONE WITH ONLY 10K MILES, GOODYEAR WITH ONLY 13K MILES, AND MICHELIN WITH ONLY 22K MILES. THE SUSPENSION WAS CHANGED BUT THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE FOR A SOLUTION. *SCC *JB
CONSUMER NOTICED THAT WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION GAS PEDAL TRAVELED TO FLOORBOARD, FORCING CONSUMER INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE BRAKES WERE STILL DEPRESSING. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 25 TO 30 MPH WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN A STOP SIGN WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 70 MPH. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HIT THE OTHER VEHICLE AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THEN WHEN I GOT INTO THE VEHICLE THERE WERE MORE MILES ON IT THEN STATED ON THE PAPER WORK I FILLED OUT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ONE THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHICH IS OVER 100 MILES AWAY, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. SO I HAD A TOYOTA SPECIALIST LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND HE HOOKED UP A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE TO IT AND FOUND THE PROBLEM. I DIDN'T TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP JUST FOR THE SIMPLE REASON THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND THEY WERE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
REQUEST TO ELIMINATE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS BECAUSE THEY'RE ANNOYING AND DISTRACTING. *PH *LA
