CAR WAS STALLING, ENGINE CODE REVEALED THROTTLE STUCK IN CLOSED POSITION. THROTTLE BODY WAS GUMMED UP WITH CARBON, THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED WITH FOAMING THROTTLE BODY CLEANING AGENT DESIGNED FOR CLEANING INTAKE PARTS. COMPUTER CANNOT UNDERSTAND NEW THROTTLE POSITION AFTER CLEANING, ENGINE SURGES FROM ABOUT 800 RPM TO ABOUT 3000 RPM IN IDLE. WHEN PLACED IN GEAR, CAR ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN TO WELL OVER 40 MPH IN IDLE. CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. MUST RIDE BRAKES TO CONTROL SPEED. CAR IS UNDRIVABLE IN ITS CURRENT STATE.
NOTICED SLIGHT SWELLING OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OVER A PERIOD OF A FEW MONTHS. APPEARED THAT THE UPPER SEAM OF THE COVER WAS WIDENING. YESTERDAY WHEN DRIVING HOME NOTICED IT APPEARED LARGER THAN USUAL. UPON GETTING HOME TOO A PICTURE, AS THE AIRBAG SEAM HAD BEGUN TO SPLIT AND CAN SEE A RED FOAM LIKE SUBSTANCE THROUGH THE SPLIT. CALLED LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND INDIVIDUAL I SPOKE WITH WAS VAGUE, HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING SIMILAR OR ANY AIRBAG RECALLS WITH TOYOTA. SEEMED DISTRACTED AND RUSHED, ALTHOUGH IT WAS ABOUT AN HOUR TIL THEIR OFFICIAL CLOSING TIME. PROCEEDED TO CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. SPOKE WITH A VERY NICE AGENT WHO SEARCHED FOR RECALLS BASED ON MY VIN NUMBER. SHE CAME UP WITH NO RECALLS BUT EXPRESSED SIMILAR CONCERNS AS MYSELF OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING AND CAUSING INJURY OR ACCIDENT. SHE ASSIGNED ME A CASE NUMBER BUT ADVISED ME TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT SEEMS LIKE A PROBLEM THAT MANY HAVE NOTED...SAME DESCRIPTION AND VERY SIMILAR PICTURES.
WHILE DRIVING YESTERDAY - AUGUST 18, 2016, POWER STEERING WENT ON AND OFF WHEN TURNING. SEEMED TO BE THE POWER STEERING - MADE IT HARD TO TURN THE WHEELS. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY STRAIGHT AHEAD WAS FINE. ON CITY STREETS AND PARKING THE ISSUE WAS VERY NOTICEABLE AND FRIGHTENING SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW IF I COULD CONTROL MY MOVING VEHICLE. . IN CHECKING TO SEE WHERE TO GET REPAIR DONE, I NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL FOR POWER STEERING ON THE 2004 CAMRY. CALLED LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR, AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS VIN NUMBER HAS NO RECALLS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A GARAGE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED CHEST CONTUSIONS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I WAS SLOWLY PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SURGED WITHOUT WARNING. IT ACCELERATED SO FAST THAT I WENT THROUGH THE BUSHES ACROSS THE ADJACENT SIDEWALK AND SLAMMED INTO A LIGHT POLE TOTALING MY 2004 CAMRY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. AFTER THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A FENCE AND A BUILDING. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT INJURED HER BACK AND UPPER NECK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT'S NECK INJURY WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN UPPER SPRAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TOYOTA TRANSMISSION U241E IS RIGGED WITH PROBLEMS. SEVERAL OF THEIR MODELS HAVE THIS AND IT'S COSTLY. IN ADDITION THE ECM ECU (COMPUTER UNIT) IS PROBLEMATIC. YOU WILL HAVE TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION OR THE COMPUTER OR BOTH. THEY HAVE RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BUT DO LITTLE TO FIX OR EVEN HELP. YOU CAN FIND BUNCH OF ARTICLES ON IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE CONSUMED A QUART OF OIL WEEKLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 265,262.
SLOWLY MAKING A RIGHT TURN TO PARK IN A WIDE OPEN PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING GARAGE. CAR LUNGED FORWARD HITTING A WALL IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND DAMAGING THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. NO BRAKE PROBLEMS OR PREVIOUS ACCELERATION PROBLEMS

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CASHED INTO A PALM TREE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER COLLISION CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,100.

ON MARCH 6, 2016, MOVING WEST ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT ABOUT 20 MPH 10:45 P.M., LESS THAN 500' FROM HOME. CRYSTAL CLEAR NIGHT. CAR FREEZES, STEERING & BRAKES LOCK, CAR LURCHES FORWARD AND KEEPS MUCH HIGHER SPEED. WITH BOTH ARMS, I PULLED CAR FROM HEAD-ON WITH UTILITY POLE TO VERY HIGH PALM TREE. HEAD-ON ITH TREE, AIRBAG RELEASES, WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM HOOD. I TURNED CAR OFF, TOOK KEYS, CAR ENGINE CONTINUES AS DID HORN BLOWING & WHITE SMOKE. IT TOOK THREE AAA TRUCKS TO REMOVE CAR FROM TREE TRUNK, WITH STEERING AND BRAKES STILL LOCKED. CAR WAS ALONE ON A NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD MOVING WEST, DRIVER ALONE, VERY RESIDENTIAL WITH PEOPLE WALKING DOGS, PILOTS AND STEWS RUNNING, JOGGERS AND PUPS AND CATS PROWLING. NO ONE WAS AROUND. A GUARD FROM A GATED COMMUNITY ON THE STREET'S NORTH SIDE WAS THE 1ST TO APPEAR. EVENTUALLY 4 POLOCE OFFICERS WERE THERE, ONE TALKED TO ME OFTEN.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT AND CAUSED THE CONTACT'S PREGNANT BELLY TO ENCOUNTER THE STEERING WHEEL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT AND THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED MUSCLE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE CAR HAS 70100 MILES. NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES LOW CLICKS WHEN TURNING AND THERE IS A SLIGHT MOVEMENT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. DETERMINED THE PROBLEM TO BE A FAILURE OF THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. CONTACTED TOYOTA, THEY SAID NO RECALLS WERE ON THIS VEHICLE. ASKED TOYOTA VIA EMAIL ON 2/19 IF THE STEERING SHAFT HAS BEEN RE-DESIGNED AND REQUESTED THE CORRECT PART NUMBER TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. CAR IS SITTING AWAITING AN UPDATE FROM TOYOTA AND REPAIR.

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V539000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED BY A DEALER OR A MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
2004 CAMRY SE CAR SITTING FOR TWO DAYS. CAR CAUGHT FIRE. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT IT SEEMED NO FOUL PLAY INVOLVED. TO ME IT LOOK LIKE THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE STARTED BY THE BATTERY AND WIRING WAS THE ISSUE. INTERIOR IN GOOD SHAPE NO WINDOWS BUSTED.
UNINTENDED (UNEXPLAINED) ACCELERATION: SLOWLY APPROACHED RED LIGHT AT INTERSECTION. AS I EASED ON BRAKE TO STOP BEHIND LINE OF TRAFFIC, ENGINE SURGED. I PUSHED BRAKE TO FLOOR AND PUSHED ON EMERGENCY BRAKE WITH OTHER FOOT WHILE SHIFTING INTO PARK. MY NEXT STEP WOULD HAVE BEEN TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, BUT CAR STOPPED A FEW INCHES BEHIND THE CAR AHEAD. THIS WAS ALL IN THE SPACE OF PERHAPS 5 SECONDS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT GOING FAST OR ON A WET/ICY ROAD. LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN AND I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. CAR FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. DEALER HAD CAR A FULL DAY, WENT THROUGH TOYOTA HQ INTERVIEW AND TESTS, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPEAT THE UA, STATED "VEHICLE IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED" BUT WOULD NOT TELL ME THE CAR WAS SAFE OR UNSAFE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2004, LOVED THE WAY IT HANDLED FOR 75K MILES, BUT NOW I DO NOT TRUST IT. I WONDER IF TOYOTA'S TESTS EVER ALLOW THEM TO RECREATE THE UA, BUT THEY COULD/WOULD NOT TELL ME THAT WHEN I TALKED WITH THE CASE MANAGER AT HQ. MY CAR WAS NEVER ON THE UA RECALL LIST. BECAUSE I DID NOT CRASH, THE COMPUTER WOULD NOT HAVE RECORDED THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE USE TO PROVE THE UA HAPPENED! SEEMS LIKE A CATCH 22. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR AND WILL GIVE FULL DISCLOSURE IF I TRADE IT IN OR SELL IT. I ASKED AND WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA HQ CASE MANAGER THAT THIS INCIDENT WILL BE AVAILABLE IF THE CAR IS CHECKED ON CARFAX. WHILE THE DEALER WAS ALWAYS SENDING ME REQUESTS TO TRADE IN MY CAR AS IT WOULD SELL WELL, I'M SURE THE VALUE HAS DROPPED CONSIDERABLY NOW. I AM NOT PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME AT ALL, ONLY GRATEFUL THAT NO ONE WAS HURT OR KILLED IN THIS INCIDENT.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN A RED LIGHT AND HIT THE 2004 CAMRY AT THE DRIVERS HEADLIGHT AREA AT ABOUT 45 MPH! WITH THIS HIGH IMPACT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE DRIVERS SEATBELT SHOULDER STRAP DID NOT CATCH! DRIVERS HEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM! BOTH RECEIVED NECK AND BACK SPRAINS! CAMRY IS A ONE OWNER CAR WITH 130,000 MILES! CAR WAS TOWED AND DAMAGES ARE BEING ACCESSED!
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN GAS IS APPLIED OR IT JERKS WHEN GOING FROM LOW SPEEDS TO HIGH SPEEDS, AFTER GAS IS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE ALSO HESITATES TO ACCELERATE AFTER FULL STOPS. I WENT TO A TOYOTA CAMRY DEALER, SANSONE TOYOTA LOCATED AT 90-100 ROUTE 1 NORTH IN AVENEL, NJ 07001. THEY FOUND THAT THE CAR IS SHIFTING ABNORMALLY AND SO THEY UPDATED CALIBRATION SOFTWARE IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER SERVICE AT SANSONE TOYOTA, THE CAR STILL JERKS WHEN SWITCHING FROM LOW SPEEDS (LIKE 20 MPH) TO HIGHER SPEEDS (LIKE 60 MPH). SOMETIMES IT JERKS VERY VIOLENTLY AND IT ALWAYS HESITATES WHEN GAS IS APPLIED, AFTER FULL STOPS (LIKE AT A STOP SIGN OR A RED LIGHT). IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES ACCELERATES, A LITTLE, WHEN I APPLY BREAKS WITH THE INTEND TO SLOW DOWN. A COUPLE MECHANICS I WENT TO SAY THAT THE VEHICLE MAY NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION, BUT I HAVE READ COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE THAT A LOT OF TOYOTA VEHICLES MAY HAVE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. SOME 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR SPEED CONTROL PROBLEMS. I DON'T WAN TO INVEST INTO A TRANSMISSION IF THE CAR WILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I NEED TO KNOW IF MY 2004 TOYOTA SOLARA SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL.
ON 9/20/15 WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT THE SOUTH WINDSOR PUBLIC LIBRARY, I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR LIGHTLY AND THE CAR SURGED BACKWARDS INTO VERY TIGHT CIRCLES. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND PRESSED ON THE BRAKES AND TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. AFTER ALMOST 2 ROTATIONS THE CAR HIT ONE CURB AND THEN ANOTHER AND AFTER THAT I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, ALL THE WHILE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THE INSURANCE COMPANY REVIEWED MY CLAIM AND HAS ISSUED ME A CHECK TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FRONT END AND UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGES REPAIRED. I HAVE ASKED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IF THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY REFERRED ME TO TOYOTA NATIONAL. TOYOTA SENT OUT AN INDEPENDENT EVALUATOR WHO EVALUATED THE VEHICLE AND THEN SENT ME A FLASH DRIVE WITH THE EVENT DATA RECORDER RESULTS. HOWEVER NO SUMMARY REPORT OR NARRATIVE WAS PROVIDED, SO I DO NOT KNOW IF THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I CALLED TOYOTA BACK AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT IS UP TO ME TO FIND SOMEONE TO INTERPRET THE RESULTS.

OIL STARTED TO LEAK FROM MANIFOLD, MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A STRIPPED BOTL. HE TRIED TO FIX IT WITH SILICONE AND REPLACE THE BOLT BUT IT IS STILL LEAKING ALL OVER THE ENGINE. HE INFORMED ME THIS COUD CAUSE A FIRE. CAN I HOLD TOYOTA RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROBLEM?
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGH SPEED. THERE WAS A RED LIGHT SO I TRIED TO HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL. BUT BY DOING THAT I THE CAR HAD A SUDDEN ACCELERATE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKE POWER IS SUPER WEAK. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE CAR STOPPED RIGHT BEHIND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SO NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED. I DRIVE MY CAR TO A LOCAL BRAKE SHOP, THEY INSPECTED THE WHOLE SYSTEM AND TELL ME THAT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG THERE. IT WAS REALLY SCARY TO FEEL THAT YOUR CAR IS NOT CONTROLLED BY YOURSELF.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD FROM MY HOME WHEN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING. IT DIED ON ME. IT JUST STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY WITHOUT ANY NOTICE WHATSOEVER. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AT THE TIME I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES AN HOUR (WHEN THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED WORKING). I TURNED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TO THE OFF POSITION. WHEN I TURNED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR, THE CAR STARTED UP IMMEDIATELY.
THERE IS NO HORN AFTER THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON SO I CALLED CONICELLI TOYOTA IN SPRINGFIELD PA, BUT THEY SAID ONLY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WERE A PROBLEM SO I WOULD HAVE A 115.00 DOLLAR CHARGE PLUS LABOR & PARTS SO I CAN NOT PAY THAT NOW SO HE SAID JUST CALL BACK WHEN YOU CAN? & HUNG UP WELL THE AIRBAG DIDN'T JUST LIGHT UP FOR NO REASON? I AM THE ONLY DRIVER & THE ONLY PASSENGERS EVER ARE MY GRANDCHILDREN!! I ONLY GET SSDISABILTY SO I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO DRIVE IT THE WAY IT IS?
CRACKING AND MELTING DASHBOARD. TOYOTA PUT OUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT. THE PROBLEM I HAVE...I RECEIVED THE FIRST LETTER STATING THE PROBLEM, BUT IT STATED A SECOND LETTER WILL BE SENT, WITH NOTIFICATION WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE, I NEVER RECEIVED THE SECOND LETTER. WHEN TURNING RIGHT AT ABOUT 25MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I APPLIED THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY BUT THEY CAR STILL IMPACTED, THEN CONTINUED OVER THE CURB. THE STEERING WHEEL REMAINED LOCKED FOR A WHILE AFTER THE CAR CAME TO A STOP AND THEN FINALLY RELEASED. I WENT TO A LOCAL STORE TO SHOP. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN THE STORE LOT, SAW A SPACE CLOSE TO THE FRONT OF THE STORE. I SLOWED DOWN TO START TURNING (MAYBE 5-10 MPH) INTO THE PARKING SPACE AND WHEN I TRIED TO BRAKE, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR STARTED SPEEDING UP. IT KEPT GOING LIKE SOMEONE ELSE HAD CONTROL OF THE CAR! I COULDN'T STOP IT AND IT RAN INTO A CAR THAT WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE SPACE. IT PUSHED THE OTHER CAR COMPLETELY OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT AND RAMMED HER CAR IN THE FRONT AREA. WE BOTH SUFFERED VEHICLE DAMAGE AND I WAS CHARGED. DASH AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR SHOWED OFF EVEN THROUGH SOMEONE WAS IN THE SEAT. FIRST THE DEALER TRIED TO RESET SYSTEM, BUT TWO DAYS LATER LIGHT CAME BACK ON. TOOK TO DEALER SECOND TIME AND THEY HAD TROUBLE FINDING ISSUE AT FIRST. ISSUE TRACED TO AIRBAG SWITCH UNDER BACK SEAT. LEARNED THAT WHILE LIGHT IS ON ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILS. DANGEROUS SITUATION AND SURPRISED BY LACK OF REDUNDANCY IN SUCH AN IMPORTANT SYSTEM. COST OF REPAIR SEEMS VERY EXCESSIVE AT $1,000 FOR A SENSOR, BUT HAVE LITTLE CHOICE. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PARKING MY CAR IN A PARKING GARAGE WHEN IT SUDDENLY STARTED ACCELERATING AND HIT THE CONCRETE WALL OF THE GARAGE. THE CAR WAS DRIVABLE, BUT AFTER GETTING IT INSPECTED, IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT FRAME DAMAGE AND WAS TOTALED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY.

A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW, I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD AND STICKINESS OF THE DASHBOARD. I ASKED AT HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA AND GOT NO SATISFACTION AND THINK I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER TOO. OVER THE YEARS, ONE HALF OF THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME VERY NOTICEABLY CRACKED AND DAMAGED AND NOW THE COVERING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOWS IS PEELING OFF THE DOORS. THE REST OF THE INTERIOR LOOKS PRISTINE. THE DASHBOARD CRACKED IN MY PREVIOUS CAMRY TOO BUT NOT TO THIS DEGREE; TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, TOYOTA PAID ME $1000 LESS THAT I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN FOR THE TURN-IN PRICE BECAUSE OF THE DASHBOARD OF THE OLD CAMRY CAR WHEN I SOLD IT BACK TO THEM WHEN I BOUGHT MY CURRENT SOLARA IN 2004. TOYOTA CAMRY DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW FIRE. DURING AUGUST OF 2014, I WENT SHOPPING IN LITHONIA, GA. I PARKED MY 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY IN THE SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT. A SHORT TIME LATER, I RETURNED TO MY CAR AND OBSERVED SMOKE BILLOWING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW OF MY VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE ACROSS THE STREET TO NALLEY TOYOTA OF STONECREST TO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT. I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALL AT THIS TIME, AND ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISOR TO CHECK FOR ONE. SHE DID SO, AND TOLD ME THERE WAS NOT A TOYOTA RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I PROCEEDED TO PAY THEM $967.00 IN PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE MY ENTIRE MASTER SWITCH, THE MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY, AND WINDOW MOTOR IN THE DRIVER-SIDE DOOR. AFTER COMING HOME, I PROCEEDED TO LOOK FOR ANY INFORMATION I COULD FIND ON TOYOTA RECALLS OF OTHER 2004 CAMRYS. I FOUND THE TOYOTA RECALL LIST ONLINE AND SAW THAT MY CAR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHER CAMRYS BEING RECALLED, YET HAD NOT BEEN INCLUDED. IN MAY OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR (2015), THE MOTOR I WAS SOLD FAILED AGAIN. I WAS UNABLE TO RAISE MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, SO I WENT BACK TO NALLEY TOYOTA AT STONECREST. I SPOKE WITH A SERVICE ADVISOR WHO EXPLAINED THAT EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL HAD BEEN EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MORE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM, MY TOYOTA CAMRY WAS STILL NOT INCLUDED. I PROCEEDED TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $234.17 TO HAVE THE WINDOW MOTOR REPLACED AGAIN. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCE THE BURNING OUT OF MY CAR LIGHTER. I HAVE BEEN WAITING IN VAIN FOR TOYOTA TO INCLUDE MY MODEL OF TOYOTA CAMRY IN THE RECALL PROCESS. I AM WRITING NOW TO REQUEST THAT TOYOTA REIMBURSE ME FOR THE MONEY I HAVE PAID TO HAVE WORK DONE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE EXISTING TOYOTA RECALL ON WINDOW MOTORS. THE CAR IS U AROUND 95,000 MILES AND IT NEEDS ROBE FIXED FOR MY CAR INSPECTION?
