TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED WHILE SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO A DUMPSTER. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE DIAGNOSED WITHIN SEVENTY DAYS. THE CONTACT WAS NOT PLEASED WITH THE RESPONSE TIME DUE TO THE SAFETY RISK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,639 AND THE CURRENT WAS 38,647.
I WAS GETTING ON THE FREEWAY AND I WAS MERGING TO ANOTHER FREEWAY I WAS ON THE 5 MERGING TO THE 118 AND THAT IS WHERE I NOTICED THE GAS PEDAL ACCELERATED AND I COULD NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. I THEN LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS TRYING TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE CAR AND GO WITH THE CURVE AND IT WOULDN'T, I THEN HIT HE WALL 3 TIMES AND FLIPPED MY CAR. I DID NOTICE THIS A MONTH PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. BUT THOUGHT IT WAS A GROVE IN THE FREEWAY. THIS TIME I COULD NOT STOP OR CONTROL THE CAR. I GET ON THE SAME FREEWAY EVERYDAY IT WAS 5:30 IN THE MORNING ON THE 7TH OF MARCH, I WAS GOING ABOUT 45 MILES WHEN I STARTED TO EXCEL THE PEDAL TO CONTINUE ON TO THE OTHER FREEWAY OVERPASS. I HAVE BEEN GOING ON THIS FREEWAY TO WORK FOR 7 YEARS NOW AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN INCIDENT EXCEPT FOR THE MONTH BEFORE. AGAIN I THOUGHT IT WAS A GROOVE IN THE HIGHWAY. I DID HEAR ON THE NEWS WHEN I GOT HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL THAT THERE WAS PROBLEMS WITH THE 2005 TOYOTA CARS AND THE STEERING COLUMN SNAPS AND LOSES CONTROL. WHICH WAS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, I DID CONTACT TOYOTA AND THEY SAID IT DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE GAS PEDAL THAT IT WAS THE 2006 THAT WAS BEING RECALLED FOR THE GAS PEDAL. THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE FLOOR MAT THAT GOT STUCK UNDER THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD NO RECALL ON THE FLOOR MATS. I FEEL IT WAS VERY WRONG FOR THEM TO KIND OF CUT ME SHORT. I DID SUFFER INJURIES, CUTS AND BRUISES NOT TO MENTION TOTALING MY CAR. INSURANCE DID PAY OFF MY CAR, BUT SUCH A HUGE ORDEAL TRYING TO GET MONEY TOGETHER TO BUY ANOTHER CAR. I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE MYSELF A RICH WOMEN I JUST WANT TOYOTA TO KNOW THAT IT WAS A HORRIBLE THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME AND THANK GOD NO ONE ELSE WAS INVOLVED. ATTORNEYS DO NOT WANT TO HELP ME FOR SOME KIND OF COMPENSATION OF THE ORDEAL I WENT THROUGH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY. I AM DOING ALOT BETTER NOW, BUT THEY DID STOP THE DOCTOR VISITS AND THERAPY DUE TO THE FACT THAT I MAY GET NOTHING OUT OF THIS AND HAVE TO PAY THE BILLS MYSELF. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO VARIOUS THINGS IN THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP UPON IMPACT AND THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO HER VIN AND THEY COULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK AND REFUSED TO DRIVE IT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 36,256.
WAS PARKING CAR IN AN UNDERGROUND PARKING GARAGE, PULLED INTO PARKING STALL, ALMOST COMPLETELY STOPPED WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD OVER A CEMENT CURB, AND CRASHED INTO THE CEMENT WALL WHICH WAS ONLY ABOUT TWO FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AS THE CAR WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY STOPPED WHEN INCIDENT HAPPENED. THE WALL WAS JUST SCRATCHED, BUT THE SHOPPING CART STORED ON THE CURB SECTION IN FRONT OF MY STALL WAS SMASHED. THE FRONT BUMPER OF THE CAR WAS KNOCKED OUT OF PLACE, AND I DON'T YET KNOW WHAT OTHER DAMAGE WAS DONE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND WE ARE WAITING FOR AN ADJUSTOR TO MAKE A DETERMINATION. THIS CAR WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. IF THIS WERE JUST A FAULTY BRAKE PROBLEM, THE CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED COMPLETELY WHEN IT HIT THE CURB INSTEAD OF JUMPING UP OVER THE CURB AND CRASHING INTO THE WALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER DRIVING IN REVERSE, SHE SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE, IT ACCELERATED, CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE AND WAS DESTROYED. THE POLICE ARRIVED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS WERE INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY THE CONTACTS INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AN APPROXIMATE SPEEDS OF 5 MPH AND EXITING A DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AT A RAPID SPEED. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO DRIVE OVER A CONCRETE CURB AND INTO A NEIGHBORS DRIVEWAY, CRASHING INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER OF THE VEHICLE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, A CRACKED SPINE AND SEVERAL BRUISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY HER INSURANCE COMPANY TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING AN ASSESSMENT OF THE DAMAGES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO REV IN THE PARK POSITION WHEN SHE STARTED IT UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAD NOT OCCURRED AGAIN AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 25,138.
IN 2006, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY ON US41 AT 45 MPH. THE ENGINE CUT OFF AND STALLED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING IN LIGHT TRAFFIC IN THE CENTER LANE. NO ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED AND SHE SAFELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND CALLED ME. I WENT THERE AND TRIED TO START THE CAR 2X'S. EACH TIME IT STARTED, IT RACED TO 4000 RPM AND CUT OUT. I WAITED 15 MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN. THE COMPUTER TAKES 15 MIN TO RESET AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HER CAR TO TOYOTA AT 20 MPH IN LIMP MODE. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED. I HAVE THE SERVICE INVOICE FROM BOTH INCIDENTS. ON APRIL 17 2010, THE SHE STARTED DRIVING HER CAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SHE WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME SAFELY AT THE REDUCED SPEED AGAIN. AND PARKED IT. APRIL 19,2005, I STARTED THE CAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE CAR WORKED FINE. I STARTED TO GO TO TOYOTA AND GOT HALF WAY DOWN THE BLOCK AND THE LIGHT WENT ON AND I LOST POWER. IT WOULD ONLY GO 20 MPH AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO GET TO 30. I DROVE OVER A BRIDGE AND AT THE CREST IT WAS ONLY DOING 10 MPH. THERE WAS NO THROTTLE CONTROL AT ALL. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS AGAIN BROKE. THE VEHICLE IN NOW AT WILSON'S AUTO REPAIR IN CAPE CORAL FLA. I CALLED TOYOTA AND MADE A COMPLAINT AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME IN 2 DAYS. THANK YOU *TR
HAVING RETURNED HOME IN THE EARLY EVENING, MY MOTHER WAS BACKING HER 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY INTO HER DRIVEWAY (THIS WAS A NORMAL ROUTINE AS THIS IS HOW SHE PARKS HER CAR). HER DRIVEWAY IS FLAT AND STRAIGHT AND SHE LIVES ALONE SO NO OTHER CARS WERE IN THE DRIVEWAY. SHORTLY AFTER HER CAR BEGAN MOVING IN REVERSE, HER CAR SUDDENLY, UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED AND SWERVED OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR TRAVELED IN REVERSE THRU THE GRASS AND THE LANDSCAPED AREA OF HER FRONT LAWN, CRASHING INTO THE FRONT PORCH OF HER HOUSE, SPINNING TO A STOP STARTLING THE STAIRS OF HER FRONT PORCH IN A PERPENDICULAR POSITION. THE CAR WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED IN THE REAR, PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE RAILINGS ON HER FRONT PORCH WERE ALSO DESTROYED. HERETOFORE, SHE HAD NOT REPORTED ANY ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH HER VEHICLE WHICH SHE OWNED FOR 4.5 YEARS. *TR

THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. ONLINE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER TOYOTA CAMRY OWNERS SHOW THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM AND IS OCCURRING QUITE OFTEN. DRIVER WAS TURNING MY 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A PRIVATE LOT AT 5MPH AND APPLYING BRAKE LIGHTLY. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, STRUCK AND WENT OVER THE STOP-CURB, AND 15 FT ACROSS A LAWN, STRIKING THE CORNER OF A HOUSE AND HEAVY SHRUBBERY, BEFORE STOPPING. POLICE RESPONDED BUT MADE NO DETERMINATION OF CAUSE. THE CAR WAS TOWED FROM THE SITE WITH EXTENSIVE FRONT-END DAMAGE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS MODERATE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE FAILURE BUT WAS TOLD THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO OPEN RECALLS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,422. TOYOTA CAMRY 2005 LE V4. I WAS IN THE KFC PARKING LOT AND READY TO PARK THE CAR. THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. I PUSHED MY FOOT HARD ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR WAS STILL GOING, CRUSHING A ROW OF BRUSHES THAT WERE MADE AS A LOW FENCE. IT THEN STOPPED ABOUT TEN YARDS AWAY FROM THE PARKING SPOT WHERE I INTENDED TO PARK. IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. IT WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WAS NO CARS PASSING AT THAT TIME. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 5.5 YEARS WITH 39,000 MILES. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME. *TR
ACTUATORS IN MY 2005 CAMRY SE CONTINUE TO STICK; THEREBY CAUSING ALL OF THE PASSENGER DOORS TO NOT OPEN THE MAJORITY (90%) OF THE TIME. I REPORTED THE ISSUE IMMEDIATELY TO TOYOTA CORPORATE AND THE DEALER (BAIERL TOYOTA IN CRANBERRY, PA) BECAUSE IT'S ALSO A SAFETY RISK; ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE A 3 MONTH YEAR OLD AND A 2 YEAR OLD. IN 2006 I REPORTED OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION IN MY 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCURENCES WHERE MY CAR HAS LUNGE INTO SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE LASTEST TIME WAS ON 3/28/10 ON I-275 WEST HEADING TO LAWRENCEBURG INDIANA. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 -65 MPH WHEN MY 2005 CAMRY SUDDEN ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 80 MPH, BUT MY PUTTING ON THE BRAKES ALLOWED ME TO GET BACK THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. OTHER TIMES WERE VAGUELY REMEMBER BUT HERE'S THE ONES THAT COME TO MIND, 3/12/10, 2/10, 10/09, 8/09, THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER TIMES BUT BECAUSE I WENT THROUGH SO MUCH WITH TOYOTA REGIONAL OFFICE THAT TO AVOID STESSING OUT LIKE TOYOTA DID TO ME IN 2006, I JUST DIDN'T REPORT IT. IN FEAR OF HAVING TO GO UP AGAINST THIS BIG CORPORATION AGAIN AND THEY DENY THAT THERE IS EVEN A PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATED PEDAL I LEFT THE REPORTING ALONE. IT'S VERY STRESSFUL GOING THROUGH ALL OF THIS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE'S NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR.

STARTED NOTICING A WORSENING CLICK IN THE STEERING WHEEL UNTIL TURNED INTO A BIG CLUNK. THE WORK COST ME $2000 THROUGH A PRIVATE MECHANIC. I SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND MADE A BIG STINK BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNDER 60K BUT OVER 5 YEARS OLD. BUT THE CAR WAS ALREADY TAKEN APART AND I NEEDED TO GET IT ON THE ROAD FOR WORK. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN THE PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF A BUILDING, THE VEHICLE (2005 TOYOTA CAMRY SL) ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, JUMPING THE CURB, CRASHING INTO THE RAILING AND THE BUILDING WALL. POLICE IMPOUNDED VEHICLE AS IT WAS UNSAFE. IN THE SECONDS PRIOR TO THE CRASH, MY FOOT WAS OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BRAKING BECAUSE I WAS ENTERING THE PARKING SPACE IN THE LOT. VEHICLE IS NOW AT A BODY SHOP AWAITING TO BE FIXED BUT NOT BEFORE THIS IS REPORTED TO TOYOTA. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY AND I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING SINCE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD REFLASH THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS IT AND THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. IT HAS NOT. AM I GOING TO HAVE A RUN AWAY VEHICLE NEXT? THE CAR DRAGS AND THEN GOES FAST. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WERE NO FAILURE FOUND WITHIN THE VEHICLE BUT DID ADVISE THAT ONE OF THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE AND AN ALIGNMENT YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE TO BE CAUSED BY A DEFECT IN THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
2005 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES ON ROUGH PAVEMENT (RAILROAD TRACKS, POTHOLES, LARGE BUMPS) THE BRAKES SEEM TO RELEASE OR LET GO. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS SHORTLY AFTER GETTING THE CAR. THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS THE ANTILOCK BRAKES AND THAT I WASN'T USED TO DRIVING WITH THEM. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP ONE OTHER TIME AND THEY CLEANED AND ADJUSTED MY BRAKES AND CHARGED ME. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED DESPITE MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE. HER MEMORY OF WHAT HAPPENED WAS LOST BUT SHE FELT THE CAR HAD JUMPED OR SURGED JUST BEFORE. SHE WAS DRIVING A 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY WHICH HAS NOT YET BEEN RECALLED.THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND TOYOTA DOESN'T FEEL THE CAR MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM.
