AIR BAG OFF INDICATOR WHEN PASSENGER IS PRESENT, CALLED TOYOTA, THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN THAT HAD EXPIRED, AND DID NOT OFF TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AS THERE WAS NO RECALL. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CAMRY'S AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, WHY NOT CLASSIFIED AS A RECALL
I AM HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR 2 MONTHS AGO, WHEN I STARTING AFTER FEW SECOND SOMETHING BLOCKING AND L STOPS.I AM USING MY CAR FOR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN HOME JOB, SCHOOL ON STREET, NOT TO MUCH USING ON HIGHWAY. ON 19 NOVEMBER 2018 I CHANGED MY OIL AND ASKED THEM CHECK EVERYTHING FOR WINTER TIME, ALSO TOLD ABOUT PROBLEM, BECAUSE I AM GRANDMA AND EVERYDAY PICKIN UP MY GRANDKIDS FROM SCHOOL. THE BODY SHOP FIND OUT ABOUT TRANSMISSION AND RECALL. ADVICED ME TO CALL TOYOTA. MY CAR HAD RECALL ON 2014.WE PURCHASED THIS CAR ON 2014 AND DEALER DID NOT TOLD US ABOUT RECALL. CAR HAD ALREADY 60000 MILES, NOW MY CAR HAS 82171 MILES. ALSO RECALL PAPER WAS SENT TO 1 ST OWNER. I TALKED WITH TOYOTA THEY SUGGEST ME TO DO INSPECTION IN ANY TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY WILL FIX, BUT TODAY AUTONATION TOYOTA DEALER LIBERTY I'LL SERVICE TOLD ME WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO CHANGE AND RECALL WILL NOT COVER COST. INSPECTION SHOWS TRANSMISSION LUNGES SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING FROM STOP DIAG 30 TRANSMISSION FAILING BETWEEN 2ND AND3RD GEARS. I WOULD SAY NEVER REPAIRED TRANSMISSION CONVERTER LAST 5 YEARS THIS DEFECT AFFECTED TO WHOLE TRANSMISSION. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU HELP ME TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. REPLACEMENT WILL COST$6723.00, WE ALMOST SOON PAYING OFF OUR LOAN LESS THAN THIS AMOUNT.THIS SERVICE CLERK ADVICED ME TO CHANGE TRANSMISSION OR TRADE AND BUY ANOTHER CAR. WE HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY SOON WE WILL NOT GONE HAVE ANYMORE MONTHLY PAYMENTS, SO NOW COME UP LIKE NOT PUT TO DANGER MY GRAND KIDS , WE SHOULD BUY OR PAY FOR REPLACEMENT.EVEN IF WE DO TRADE OUR CAR, DEALER WILL NOT FIX TRANSMISSION AND SALE TO ANOTHER PERSON WHO WILL HAVE SOON A PROBLEM AS LIKE ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE REAR BRAKES AND FOUND THEM TO BE VERY HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILLION AUTO- TOYOTA (4101 W 12TH ST, SIOUX FALLS, DE 57106, 605-309-0979) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE STUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 210160578. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,250. *TT CONSUMER STATED THERE IS FRICTION ON BRAKE PADS. TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS OR VIBRATES EVER TIME YOU GO TO TAKE OFF OR SLOW DOWN, BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 20MPH AND 50 MPH
CAR HESITATES AND LOOSES POWER WHILE MOVING FORWARD AND WHILE EXITING AND OR STARTING UP FROM AN INTERSECTION. REAR CARS AND MYSELF ARE IN DANGER. THIS PROBLEM IS FROM A DEAD STOP AS WELL AS FROM SLOW SPEED WHILE TURNING AND LEAVING AN INTERSECTION.THIS CAMERY WAS PURCHASED IN 2015, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM SINCE FIRST REPORTED, WHICH WAS IN 2015. OVER 300 TOYOTA CUSTOMERS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM OVER THE PAST 5-7 YEARS.
MY 2012 CAMRY WITH ONLY 60,123 MILES IS FAILING THE TORQUE CONVERTER SO THAT IS MEAN LIKE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY 3 LANE ROAD AT ABOUT 35 MPH AND THE CAR JUST CUT OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME UP ON THE DASHBOARD. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT COMPONENTS OF THE CAR CAUSED IT TO CUT OFF. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I PUT ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS, GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND WAVED TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO ALERT THEM THAT THE CAR WAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ALMOST KILLED, AND WORST YET, OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY KILLED OR INJURED AS WELL. A YOUNG MAN STOPPED AND PUSHED THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN. IT STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO WORK BUT NEEDLESS TO SAY MY NERVES ARE RATTLED. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT.
OUR 2012 CAMRY SE HAD APPROXIMATELY 66,000 MILES WHEN THE BRAKE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I WAS THE DRIVING VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY ON 7/30/18 GOING 55 MPH WHEN I HEARD AN WHISTLING SOUND FOR 2-3 MINUTES. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION 10 MILES FROM MY HOME I SMELT A BURNING SMELL WHICH SEEMED TO COME FROM THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. WHEN I TOUCHED THE WHEEL IT WAS VERY HOT AND WOULD HAVE BURNED MY HAND IF I LEFT IT THERE. I DROVE HOME LATER AND THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I THREW SOME WATER ON IT AND A CLOUD OF STEAM AROSE. I CALLED MY MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS MOST LIKELY A STUCK DISC BRAKE CALIBER AND THAT HE HAD SEEN THE PROBLEM BEFORE ON 2012 & 2013 CAMRYS. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SEIZED CALIBER PISTON WHICH REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LEFT REAR CALIBER, PADS AND ROTOR FOR OVER $500.00. MY CONCERN IS THAT I HAVE NEVER HAD A SAFETY PROBLEM LIKE THIS OCCUR IN ANY VEHICLE NEVER MIND A FAIRLY NEW CAMRY WHICH PASSED A SAFETY INSPECTION AT TOYOTA AS PART OF AN OIL CHANGE ON 2/20/18 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 63,253 MILES. IN MY OPINION THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OR IN THE QUALITY OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH COULD LEAD TO A BRAKE SYSTEM FIRE OR BRAKE FAILURE.
POWER CAR LOCKS WON'T OPEN OR CLOSE WHEN USING THE SWITCHES OR THE REMOTE KEY. CAR ALARM WON'T ACTIVATE BECAUSE THE DOORS WON'T LOCK. ALSO, THE DRIVER SWITCH DOES NOT UNLOCK THE REAR DOOR ANYMORE. THIS COULD BE A REAL DANGER IF YOU HAVE A SMALL CHILD IN THE REAR SEAT AND NEED TO GET THEM OUT IN A HURRY.
NO SOUND IN RADIO/CD/BLUETOOTH/PHONE BUT THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN WORKS OK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING FAILED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE FAILURES WERE INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
FUEL RAIL WITH ENDCAPS HAVE BECOME DEFECTIVE AND NOT SEALING PROPERLY. CONSEQUENTLY, GASOLINE AND FUEL VAPORS ARE LEAKING FROM THE FUEL RAIL ONTO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WILL EMISSIONS AND DEALERS IS EQUESTING $762.00 TO FIX.
Drivers side steering wheel has a clicking clunking sound and appears this is a well-known issue with this year car that Toyota has never addressed some type of silicone, bearing or washer war wears out, but the whole column must be removed to replace it from what I see it’s like $1000 I have Toyota do it for a $20-30 part

PLEASE DETERMINE IF THE FUELRAIL END CAPS THAT ARE MADE BY ARSEN ARE DEFECTIVE. PRE. REQUISITES OF ONE REPORTED MAY BE ENOUGH TO START A INVESTIGATION ADVISING TOYOTA TO RECALL THE 2012 FUEL RAILS ON THE 6 CYLINDER TOYOTA CAMERY.THESE FUELRAILS ARE PROBABLY DEFECTIVE IN THE KIA AND HYUNDAI IF MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY USING THE SAME MATERIAL. PLEASE CROSS CHECK THE INFO TO DETERMINE A CAUSE. IF OVER 400 VEHICLES B4 A NOTICE WAS PUT OUT AND NO SPECIFIC CAUSE WAS NOTED . I WANT TO BELIEVE TOYOTA DOES WHATS CORRECT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AS DID KIA AND HYUNDAI ONLY AFTER 400 PLUS ISSUES AROSE. THAT IS STRAIGHT NEGLIGENCE UPON THE NHTSA WHY SO MANY FIRES BEFORE SOMETHING WAS DONE UNREAL.
ON 5/24/18 AT 1435 IN CHICAGO IL, MY 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY FULLY ACCELERATED THROUGH ONGOING TRAFFIC AFTER LIGHTLY DEPRESSING THE PEDAL TO MOVE FORWARD THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND I HAD TO MANEUVER THROUGH ONCOMING TRAFFIC INTO A GRASS AREA ACROSS THE STREET TO SLOW DOWN BUT COMING DOWN ON THE OTHER SIDE HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. CHICAGO POLICE DEPT REPORT #JB-282363
THE REAR CENTER SEAT BELT BUCKLE IS STUCK.
DRIVING CAR AND I WAS STOPPED AT INTERSECTION ON A FOGGY MORNING ABOUT 6:15 AM. WENT TO TURN RIGHT AT INTERSECTION AND SAW WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A DENSE AMOUNT OF FOG FLOW ACROSS THE FRONT OF MY CAR. AS I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD, I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, SAW SOME SMOKE FROM UNDER THE FRONT HOOD. AN ALARM WENT OF AND MY DASH DISPLAYED THE WARNING HYBRID SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. THEN FIRE STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND UP ALONG THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. I WAS JUST PASSING A GAS STATION AT THE TIME SO I CONTINUE TO DRIVE DOWN PASS THE GAS STATION AND THEN PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EXISTED THE CAR. THE NEAREST FIRE COMPANY WAS OUT ON A CALL, SO THE CAR CONTINUED TO BURN FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. AS A RESULT THE ENTIRE FRONT HALF OF THE CAR WAS COMPLETING BURNT. HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR PRIOR TO THIS FIRE. IN FACT, I DROVE IT 176 MILES THE NIGHT BEFORE THE FIRE. LEARNED AFTER I EXISTED THE CAR WHILE IT WAS ON FIRE, THAT A DRIVER COMING UP THE ROAD BEHIND ME AFTER I TURNED AT THE INTERSECTION, NOTICED SPARKS AND/OR FLAMES SHOOTING OUT FROM UNDER MY CAR. SHE WAS FLASHING HER HEADLIGHTS AT ME, BUT I DID NOT NOTICE HER.
AROUND 40-45 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTS TO STUTTER/SHAKE WHEN CHANGING GEARS. I LOOK ONLINE AND THESE CARS HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND TOYOTA WOULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY SAID ITS NOT A RECALL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT HE CANNOT FEEL IN AND NEITHER DOES HIS SUPERVISOR. I FEEL THE STUTTER/ SHAKE EVERYDAY WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NORTH HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA TO HAVE THE DAMAGES ASSESSED. IT HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED YET WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CLAIM NUMBER: 180-427-0700. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IN REVERSE WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED VERY FAST, RESULTING IN EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE AND TWO OTHER PARKED VEHICLES.
ON 4/11/18, AT FREEWAY SPEED, I WAS HIT HARD ON THE FRONT RIGHT FROM A VEHICLE WHICH APPEARED TO HAVE CROSSED CROSSED SEVERAL LANES AND CAUSED MY CAR TO SPIN AROUND, THEN WAS HIT DIRECTLY ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR BY ANOTHER CAR. I ENDED UP IN THE CAR POOL LANE FACING THE WRONG WAY. MY ENTIRE FRONT END WAS HANGING OFF THE CAR, MY DOOR WAS SMASHED IN AND THE LEFT REAR FENDER WAS HANGING ON BY A THREAD. NO AIR BAGS INFLATED!!! NONE.
I JUST PURCHASED MY 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH 77,000 MILES ON THE SPEDOMETER. ABOUT A WEEK LATER AFTER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I NOTICE THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND BRAKE LIGHT ALL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. THE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OUT UNTIL YOU TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES WHEN YOU START THE VEHICLE, THESE LIGHTS COME ON AND IT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. THIS VEHICLE ALSO FEELS LIKE YOU ABOUT TO HYDROPLANE WHILE DRIVING AROUND 25 MPH, WHICH FEELS UNSAFE. I'VE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE BAKE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE A BRAKE ASSEMBLY SWITCH. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS SAME VEHICLE, AND FOUND OUT THAT THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY SWITCH WAS CHANGE AND THEY STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TRACTION CONTROL, ABS LIGHT, AND BRAKE LIGHT ONLY COMES ON WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES AT LOW SPEED.
TAKATA RECALL - PURCHASED CAR IN 2015. TOOK TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PERFORM DOT RECALL COMPLETED. AND CHECK TO SEE WHY CAR DOES NOT HAVE AC OR THE OUTSIDE TEMP DISPLAY DOES NOT REGISTER. ONE DAY SUMMER OF 2017 CAR TURNED ON BUT THE CLIMATE CONTROL WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. AND COULD NOT ADJUST THE TEMP OF FAN SPEED. TURNED CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON 2 TIMES. THEN THE CLIMATE CONTROL ILLUMINATED, BUT I NO LONGER HAD AC. AND CANNOT CHANGE THE FAN SPEED. CAR WAS PARKED IN RESIDENCE PARKING LOT WHEN ISSUE OCCURRED. QUOTED $10,487 PLUS TAX TO BEGIN REPAIRS. NEED 2 ELECTRICAL HARNESSES AND A/AC AMPLIFIER TO BEGIN REPAIRS. NEEDING PARTS # 82115 -06F30, 82121-06C80, & 88650 - 06501. TOTAL COST TO BEGIN REPAIRS $ 10.487 PLUS TAX. THIS IS NOT A GUARANTEED FIX BUT IS A MUST STARTING POINT. DUE TO BOTH HARNESSES HAVING TOO MUST RESISTANCE FOUND 15 CODES STORED IN 8 DIFFERENT SYSTEMS. 6 CODES CURRENT AND 9 ARE HISTORY. 2012 CAMTY SHAKES WHEN ACCELERATING AROUND 20-50 MPH.
I WAS JUST AT A STOPLIGHT. I WAS THE FIRST CAR. WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE THE CAR DID NOT PICK UP SPEED FOR AT LEAST A FULL MINUTE. I WAS AFRAID SOMEONE DRIVING BEHIND ME WOULD RUN INTO MY CAR OR START HONKING BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING SO SLOW. IT HAPPENED AT THE STOP LIGHT PRIOR TOO, BUT IT WASN'T AS NOTICEABLE BECAUSE I RAN INTO ANOTHER STOP LIGHT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. I CALLED TOYOTA AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE CAR TO A CERTIFIED TOYOTA DEALER AFTER I READ A REPORT ON CARS.COM THAT SAID THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE DUE TO A COMBINATION OF AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE GLITCH AND A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. I LATER READ THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL MAY NEED ADJUSTING BECAUSE THE GAS PEDAL THINKS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ON.
TOYOTA FAILS TO DISCLOSE THAT SUNROOF HAS DRAINS DESIGNED TO DISCHARGE WATER FROM THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE. IF ONE OF THESE DRAINS GET CLOGGED (AND COULD HAPPEN VERY EASY) WATER GETS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WATER INFILTRATION CAN START WITH A VERY SLOW AMOUNT SO THE ISSUE IS NOT DISCOVERED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE UNDERNEATH THE CARPET IS A MATERIAL THAT ABSORBS THIS WATER. MOLD CAN BE DEVELOPED, AS WELL AS ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS DURING DRIVING. MY SPOUSE ACCUSED BREATHING ISSUES AND PSORIASIS AND WE DISCOVERED THAT OUR VEHICLE IS GETTING RAIN WATER INSIDE.COULD BE FOR MONTHS OR EVEN YEARS, AS WELL AS SINCE WE PURCHASED IT - THERE IS NOT WAY TO ASSUME OR TO NOTICE HOW MUCH WATER YOU HAVE IN WHICH TIME BECAUSE YOU DISCOVER IT WHEN IS TOO LATE. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE, CLAIMING THAT ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY OUTSIDE ELEMENTS. BUT IN THE TOYOTA OWNER MANUAL THIS DRAIN IS NOT DISCLOSED TO THE CUSTOMER, SO IT COULD TAKE A PERIODIC CHECK.ALSO LUSTINE TOYOTA FROM WOODBRIDGE VA WHERE WE SERVICE THE CAR AT EVERY SIX MONTHS SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, DOES NOT HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATION, WRITTEN OR NOT, ABOUT THESE DRAINS BUT INSTEAD CAN DIAGNOSE VERY QUICK THAT THE WATER IN THE CARPET COMES FROM CLOGGED DRAINS. HOW COME THAT TOYOTA IS WELL AWARE ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT IS NOT RAISING ANY AWARENESS ABOUT IT, SO THE CUSTOMER CAN BE PREPARED IN ADVANCE INSTEAD OF HAVING THE VEHICLE FULL WITH WATER AND TO POSE DANGERS WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE FOR HIMSELF AND OTHERS AROUND? ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR, THE CAR WAS PUT IN PARK AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF USING THE ON/OFF BUTTON, BUT THEN LATER IN THE NIGHT, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING! THE CAR WAS IN THE GARAGE AND THE KEY WAS IN THE HOUSE AT THE TIME.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2012 SE HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT AND IT STARTED TO DO A HARD SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR THAT RESULTED IN ME NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION. I SEE ONLINE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THEIR 2012 CAMRY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED ALREADY?!?! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY JERKED WHILE SWITCHING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
DECEMBER 29TH AT 3:00 A.M MY WIFE AND I WAS GOING TO THE ATM IN GRANGER TX. AS I APPROACHED A SHARP CURVE I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN AND THE CAR SPEEDED UP HIT THE CULVERT AND WENT AIRBORNE. WE CAME DOWN ON A BOULDER AND SOMEHOW WE MANAGED TO DRIVE BACK TO MY BROTHER IN LAWS. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. I HAVE SEVERE WHIPLASH, I CRACKED MY L1 AND INJURED MY SIDE AND BACK. MY WIFE'S HEAD HIT THE SIDE WINDOW SO HARD SHE HAD A CONCUSSION KNOTS AND BRUISES ON HER HEAD. SHE HAS BRUISES ON HER RIGHT SHOULDER, HIT HER KNEE AND LEG. IF WE HAD NOT BEEN WEARING SEAT BELTS WE WOULD HAVE DIED. IF OUR AIRBAGS HAD WORKED WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HURT AS BAD AS WE ARE. MY WIFE'S GLASSES ARE BENT AND MY WATCH IS BROKE. I AM SENDING PICTURES TO PROVE THE AIRBAGS DID NOT WORK. NOT SUR WHAT THE ODOMETER READING IS BECAUSE I AM AFRAID TO TURN THE CAR ON SINCE THERE IS NO LONGER NO OIL OR ANTIFREEZE.

CAR WAS PARKED AND NEXT TIME, WHEN TRYING TO START DID NOT START. BATTERY IS GOOD. I HAD PASSENGER SIDE SEAT AIRBAG RECALL FIXED ABOUT 6 MONTHS BACK (EARLY PART OF 2017)
WHILE DRIVING ON ANY ROAD ( HIGHWAY, CITY STREET, ECT.) AT BETWEEN 25 AND 45 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION SHUDERS. THIS FROM MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THERE IS A MASSIVE MANUFACTURE DEFECT IN THE TOURQUE CONVERTER AS WELL AS THE ECU. THIS COULD AND WILL CAUSE MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THIS SHOULD AND NEEDS TO BE A MANDATORY RECALL.
NOT SURE IF THEY ARE TAKATA AIRBAGS. MY WIFE WAS REAR-ENDED (NOT HER FAULT) THAT CRUNCHED HER CAR BETWEEN 2 VEHICLES. THE INDIVIDUAL AT FAULT, ALTOGETHER, CREATED A 4 CAR ACCIDENT. TAKATA AIRBAGS: KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. AFTER TURNING RIGHT ONTO A STREET & ACCELERATING TO ABOUT 20 MPH OVER ABOUT 150 YARDS, I HIT A CAR THAT WAS STOPPED IN THE STREET. I HAD MY SEATBELT ON. THE AIRBAG KNOCKED ME UNCONSCIOUS FOR AT LEAST 10 SECONDS. (I WEIGH 122 LBS & I'M 5 FT 3.5 IN.) I DIDN'T REALIZE I'D BEEN KNOCKED OUT: I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE A PARTIALLY INFLATED AIRBAG. I DIDN'T REALIZE I' BEEN UNCONSCIOUS OR THAT MY EYEGLASSES HAD BEEN KNOCKED OFF. BASED ON WHAT I SAW, I THOUGHT THE AIRBAG HADN'T FULLY INFLATED. BUT MY 13-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO WAS IN THE BACK SEAT, SAID SHE HAD THOUGHT I WAS DEAD BECAUSE SHE REPEATEDLY CALLED TO ME AFTER THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND I DIDN'T ANSWER. I NEVER HEARD HER OR EVEN KNEW MY CHEST/FACE WAS AGAINST THE AIRBAG. MY DAUGHTER SAID MY FACE AND CHEST WERE SLUMPED AGAINST THE AIRBAG. I WAS SHOCKED: ALL I KNEW WAS THAT I JUST SAW THE CAR I WAS GOING TO HIT, BRAKED, AND THEN SAW A PARTIALLY INFLATED AIRBAG. BUT MY CHEST HURT. THE NEXT DAY MY CHEST HURT SO MUCH I COULDN'T PRESS THE CAP ONTO A MAGIC MARKER. THE LEFT SIDE OF MY FACE FELT LIKE I HAD SOMETHING ON IT (LIKE A PIECE OF CLOTH), AND MY LEFT CHEEK AT THE CHEEKBONE WAS SWOLLEN AND BRUISED. THE VISION IN MY LEFT EYE WAS BLURRY, TOO. SO I WENT TO THE ER WHERE THEY DID CT SCANS OF MY CHEST AND BRAIN. THEY SAID I HAD A MILD CONCUSSION. I GOT A PARTIAL BLACK EYE ABOUT 4 DAYS LATER, AND I NOTICED A 4" BY 4" BRUISE ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY RIGHT CALF. EVEN TODAY--28 DAYS AFTER THE ACCIDENT--MY CHEST AND CALF STILL HURT. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. I WAS ONLY STARTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO A 40 MPH STREET AND PROBABLY ONLY GOT TO 18 OR 20 MPH WHEN I SAW THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, HIT THE BRAKES, AND THEN HIT THE CAR. MY CAR HAS BEEN DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS BECAUSE OF THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS. MY DAUGHTER, WHO HAD HER SEATBELT ON IN THE BACK SEAT, WAS UNHARMED.
WHILE DRIVING ON ANY ROAD BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MPH, 3RD AND 4TH SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND WHILE PRESSING THE GAS, THE VEHICLE HESITATES. SOMETIMES IT IS SOMEWHAT CLEAR TO ACCELERATE, OTHER TIMES IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE FIGHTING A WALL THAT WILL NOT MOVE. I BELIEVE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ECU AND A POSSIBLE FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BY THE NHTSA PROACTIVELY, AND NOT LEFT TO THE INDIVIDUAL CONSUMER TO SEE IF THE ISSUE RESOLVES ITSELF. IF THE CAR FAILS IN MOVING TRAFFIC, SOMEONE COULD HIT ME FROM BEHIND. AT THIS TIME, I AM HAVING TO GO FROM 2ND SPEED TO 4TH SPEED BY 40 MPH TO GO AROUND 3RD GEAR ALTOGETHER. THIS IS NOT THE WAY THE CAR SHOULD OPERATE. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON ANY ROAD AT ANY TIME.

Since I purchased the vehicle I have been smelling a weird smell as if the AC unit is leaking. It has been brought in to Toyota multiple times and they could not find the issue, but I still smell it.

THE PART WAS REPLACED BUT, WITHIN A MONTH, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE CONTACT CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURER FOR A SERVICE CAMPAIGN CONCERNING SPUTTERING AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER (HILLSIDE TOYOTA, 139-65 QUEENS BLVD, JAMAICA, NY 11435, (718) 571-8211) WERE CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE IF THEY WOULD APPROVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT *TR

I DRIVE OFF THE LOT AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED! I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHEN THE PROBLEM WASN'T GETTING BETTER, WORRIED BECAUSE I DRIVE MY 2 LITTLE GIRLS EVERYWHERE! AND LO AND BEHOLD IT'S THE TRANSMISSION! WHICH I THEN DROVE BACK TO MOUNTAIN STATES TOYOTA AND THEN THEY CONFIRMED! ACCORDING TO SEVERAL MECHANICS IT'S A FAULT IN THE TOYOTA TRANSMISSION THAT THEY WILL NOT ADMIT TO! OF COARSE! TOYOTA PERSISTING TO GET US OUT WHEN CONFRONTED, MANAGERS CUSSING, SO ON AND SO FORTH! THEY THEN PROCEEDED TO LIE TO ME AND TELL ME I HAVEN'T BEEN IN SENSE 95,000 LOL WHEN I WAS JUST IN WITHIN THAT MONTH WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM! MORE LIES! NOW I AM ALMOST POSITIVE THEY HAVE POURED SOMETHING DOWN MY TRANSMISSION TO THICKEN THE FLUID AS A TEMPORARY FIX! THEY HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP FOR 2 HOURS ME THINKING THEY WERE JUST DOING A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT! THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM THEY WILL JUST NOT ADMIT IT, AND ARE PUTTING PEOPLE IN DANGER! THIS IS NOT RIGHT! THERE ARE MACANICS WORKING FOR TOYOTA KNOWING THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID TO LOSE THEIR JOB! THE BUTTONS ON THE CONSOLE STOPPED WORKING AROUND 2 YEARS AGO THUS DISABELING ACCESS TO NAVIGATION, BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY AND OTHER FUNCTIONS. DUE TO LACK OF ON SCREEN NAVIGATION I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO RESORT TO USING A MOBILE WHICH IS DISTRACTING TO A DRIVER AND MAY LEAD TO ACCIDENTS ESPECIALLY IN UNFAMILIAR AREAS AND ON MULTILANE HIGHWAY NEAR EXITS. ALSO AS CONNECTIVITY TO THE PHONE VIA BLUETOOTH HAS BEEN DISABLED CALLS CANNOT BE RECIEVED USING THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. ON RESEARCHING MORE ON THIS TOPIC I HAVE REALIZED THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE VEHICLE OWNERS FACING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE SAME PART OF THE VEHICLE FOR VARIOUS VEHICLES THAT TOYOTA PRODUCES. THE SOLUTION PROVIDED BY TOYOTA NEEDS REPLACEMENT OF THE FAULTY CONSOLE WHICH COSTS BETWEEN $800 TO $1000. MULTIPLE VIDEOS AND COMMENTS REQUESTING A CHEAP SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE CAN BE SEEN ON THE INTERNET. SOME SUGGESTIONS INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF A PART CALLED COMMUNICATION EXTENSION MODULE MANUFACTURED BY "HARMAN AUTOMOTIVE PART NUMBER 86100-YY050". I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH ONLY TO HAVE HAD A FEW CLOSE CALLS DUE TO DISTRACTIONS BUT THIS MAY BE A CONCERN AND TOYOYA SHOULD COME UP WITH A CHEAPER SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE RATHER THAN SIMPLY SAYING " YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY A $1000 FIR REPLACING THE ENTIRE CONSOLE THAT TOO WHEN ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS ARE WORKING"
SHIFT LEVER LOCKS IN PLACE.. BREAK LIGHT , TRACTION LIGHT, ABS LIGHT ALL ARE ON... HAVE TO PUMP THE BREAK PEDAL TO RELEASE THE SHIFT LEVER. .. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON SOMETIMES WILL RESET THE LIGHTS..
