DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH THE CAR JUST ACCELERATED AND WENT TO SPEEDS OVER 100 MPH. WHEN THE DRIVER REALIZED THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING MORE THAN HE WAS DOING HE RELEASED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR JUST CONTINUED TO GO FASTER. THERE ARE NO FLOOR MATS IN THE CAR TO GET STUCK AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED THE CAR JUST CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. *TR

THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP UNTIL CRASHING INTO BUSHES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE CRASH. 1999 TOYOTA COROLLA. 1. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION IN MY 1999 TOYOTA COROLLA. EVEN HITTING THE BREAKS WOULD NOT STOP THE ACCELERATION. THIS WOULD GO ON FOR 1-2 SECONDS. 2. USUALLY OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING 60-65 MPH, AFTER HITTING THE GAS CONTINUOUSLY FOR SOMETIME WITHOUT HITTING THE BREAK. 3. IT HAPPENED TOO INFREQUENTLY. IN 2004 DURING THE WINTER MY 1999 TOYOTA COROLLA LE ACCELERATOR EXTREMELY FAST AS IF THE ACCELERATOR WAS FLOORED. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. I CHECKED THE FLOOR MATS AS MY FIRST TROUBLESHOOTING ATTEMPT. THE FLOOR MATS WERE OK. I STARTED MY CAR AGAIN AND AGAIN IT ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED. AT THAT POINT I WAS STILL ON THE SIDE ON THE ROAD AND MY CAR WAS IN PARK. I PUMPED THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIME AND FINALLY THE CAR IDLE AT A NORMAL SPEED. IT HAS NOT HAPPEN SINCE THAT DAY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO SECOND GEAR IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO REMAIN IDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING INTO A PARKING GARAGE CAR STARTED REVVING VERY HIGH PLUNGED FOWARD INTO A WALL. WHILE ON LEVEL GROUND CONSUMER WAS PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE REVVED REALY LOUD, AND IT LUNGED FOWARD BEFORE CONSUMER COULD GET VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THEN JUMPED THE CURB. *AK THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS, ONE IN 1999 AND ANOTHER IN 2000. DURING BOTH INCIDENTS ENGINE REVVED LOUDLY AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED. *YH

ON TWO INCIDENTS CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED ON ITS OWN, CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES, BUT IT WOULD NOT OVERRIDE. ALSO, ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT GEARS, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. CONSUMER COULD HEAR MOTOR , IT SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WAS FIGHTING ITSELF . VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED WHEN CONSUMER TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. DEALER THOUGHT ON THE FIRST INCIDENT THAT IT WAS DRIVER'S ERROR, AND COULD NOT FIND ANY DEFECT.*AK
