TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEAD LIGHTS REFLECTION FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR TEMPORARY BLINDED THE DRIVER. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS TOO SHORT TO BLOCK THE SUNLIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO STANDARDS AND THEY COULD NOT ALTER THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300. UPDATED 12/18/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR WAS BRIGHTER THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE. AT NIGHT VEHICLES PASSING ON THE LEFT ARE BLINDING AS THE LIGHTS SHINE OFF THE MIRROR. *JS
IN DEC 2013 THE LEASE END ON MY 2011 COROLLA WAS COMING DUE SO I PICKED UP A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA LE LEASE ON 12/4/2013. THIS VEHICLE HAD 8 MILES ON IT & WAS EQUIPPED WITH PROXES 4 PLUS 205/55/R16 TIRES ( I HAVE THE ID NUMBERS FROM EACH TIRE IF YOU NEED THEM). ON 2/26/14 THIS VEHICLE HAD 492 MILES ON IT & I NOTICED THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A LARGE ODD SHAPED CUT IN IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OUTSIDE TREAD AREA. I WENT TO SUNTOYOTA IN HOLIDAY FLA TOOK PICS OF THE TIRE DAMAGE & THE SERVICE REP [XXX] TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE A REPLACEMENT TIRE IN THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ONE. I HAD PURCHASED ROAD HAZARD TIRE COVERAGE AT THE TIME I LEASED THE CAR & "ASSUMED" THIS ODD CUT CAME FROM ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA SO I WASN'T CONCERNED. I HAD TO LEAVE THIS 2014 COROLLA AT DEALERSHIP FOR A GAS TANK ISSUE WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY PUT IN A CLAIM FOR THAT ISSUE & RENTED A CAR. ON 2/28/14 I WENT BACK TO SUNTOYOTA TO PICK UP MY CAR & WHEN I LOOKED AT THE REPLACEMENT TIRE I ASKED IF IT WAS 'NEW' & WAS TOLD YES IT WAS ALTHOUGH IT DIDN'T APPEAR TO ME IT WAS; I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS DEALER. [XXX] ALSO SAID THAT FIDELITY WARRANTY SERVICE WASN'T HAPPY ABOUT REPLACING A TIRE THAT ONLY HAD 492 MILES ON IT SO WE HAD WORDS OVER THAT. NOW ON APPROXIMATELY 3/26/14 I NOTICED THIS REPLACEMENT TIRE HAS WHAT LOOKS LIKE STRESS LINE CRACKS STRAIGHT ACROSS THE WIDTH OF THE TIRE (TOOK PICS) IN 2 PLACES & CAR ONLY HAS 644 MILES ON IT. OBVIOUSLY I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS & MY SAFETY AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF OTHERS RIDING NEAR ME SHOULD THIS TIRE COME APART. I HAVE LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY ISSUES WITH THIS TIRE BUT CANNOT FIND ANY RECENT ONES. I WILL ONCE AGAIN REPORT THIS ISSUE TO SE TOYOTA BUT I AM REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE NOT ONLY WITH THE TIRE BUT DEFINITELY WITH THIS DEALER & SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT NEED TO PROTECT MY SAFETY IN THE EVENT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THESE TIRES. 2014 COROLLA'S ALSO HAVE "DESIGN FLAWS".. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE ENGINE ROARED ABNORMALLY LOUD. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE RPMS SUDDENLY INCREASED TO APPROXIMATELY 4000 AND WOULD NOT DECREASE UNTIL AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND AFTER THREE MINUTES, THE ENGINE RPMS DECREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3300.
AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR LESS THAN 200 MILES OF BEING RECEIVED FROM DEALERSHIP FOR A DEFECTIVE CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, DIFFICULTIES TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED, TRYING TO DO SO CAUSED IT TO PULL THE OPPOSITE DURING A SUBURBAN TRIP IN A HIGH SPEED WAY, SO HAD TO BE DRIVEN TO A SAFER PLACE, (GETTING WORSE RAPIDLY), AND MAKING CLUNKING METALLIC NOISES ON THE FRONT END WHEN TURNING AT CORNERS AND BRAKING, AND A LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHEN BRAKING FROM HIGHWAY SPEED (APPEARED AT THE SAME TIME AND AS SUDDEN AS THE STEERING SITUATION) TO A FULL STOP OR FROM HIGHWAY SPEED TO A SUDDEN LOWER ONE DUE TO CONGESTION. ALL THIS HAPPENED TO APPEAR ON THIS LAST TRIP. HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. CONDITION SHOWED UP DURING A CONTINUOUS RAINY CONDITION, PERCEIVED LIKE A TOTAL LOSS OF FRONT END ALIGNMENT, PLUS THE NOISES. AS OF THE WRITING OF THIS MESSAGE, JUST A FEW HOURS HAVE PASSED AFTER THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, BUT BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS "COLLISION SITUATION " EXPERIENCED, DUE THE SPEED OF THE HIGHWAY IN WHICH THIS CONDITION SUDDENLY APPEARED (NOTHING WARNED ABOUT SOMETHING WRONG GOING BEFORE) IS THIS REPORT BEING SENT. MAYBE CAUSED BY OR RELATED TO THE PROCEDURE EXECUTED DURING THE PREVIOUS CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, (MY OPINION) HAS NOT YET BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
WELL I JUST BUY A TOYOTA COROLLA 2014 ON 10/14/2013 AND THE WINDSHIELD JUST CRACK THE CAR WAS ON MY DRIVE WAY THE CAR WAS PARK AND WHEN I WAS LIVING MY PLACE AND I GOT IN TO MY CAR I SAW A CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD SO IM THINKING WHO DID THE HAPPEN FROM NO WHERE SO I WENT ON LINE I GOOGLE I FOUND ALL THIS COMPLAINS ABOUT TOYOTA WINDSHIELD CRACKING FOR NO REASON . I CALL THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPEN AND ASK THEM ABOUT THE PRICE AND THE WINDSHIELD ITS 900 AND THE INSTALLATION IS 300 . SO THINK THE WINDSHIELD IS A VERY POOR QUALITY BECAUSE IF ITS JUST NOT MY CAR AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKS OVER AND OVER SOME THING IT'S WRONG WITH THE MATERIAL AND ITS NOT SAFE AT AND WHAT'S I THINK THEY SHOULD MAKE THE WINDSHIELD MORE SAFE. TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CAR SOMETIMES HAS A HESITATION PROBLEM FROM A DEAD STOP; ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. THIS CREATES A SCARY SITUATION DUE TO I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN SO I HAVE TO WAIT QUITE AWHILE FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO SPREAD OUT MUCH FURTHER THEN NORMAL (ABOUT 50 CAR LENGTHS) SOMETIMES THIS IS NOT PRACTICAL SO I HAVE TO CHANCE IT & HOPE NOT TO GET BROADSIDED. THE DEALERSHIP IS OF NO HELP & I DOUBT IF THEY HAVE WRITTEN IT DOWN THE 2 TIMES I REPORTED IT. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED OVER 50 TIMES OVER THE LAST 21 MONTHS & STARTED IN MONTH # 1. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT TOYOTA HAD A NEW STYLE TRANSMISSION & THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM BUT THAT IS DOUBTFUL BECAUSE THE ENGINE RPM'S DON'T COME UP. THE SYMPTOMS APPEAR TO BE A FUEL STARVING PROBLEM.
CVT TRANSMISSION MAKING ERRATIC RATIO CORRECTIONS WHEN CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT LOW SPEED WHICH MADE THE CAR LITERALLY JUMP AT SOME SPEEDS (0-30 MPH) MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE FOR IN EX. A TRAFFIC JAM (STOP AND GO) AND LOOSE POWER WHEN CLIMBING FOR IN EX. PARKING PLACES THAT HAD RAMPS (0-5 MPH) DUE TO ERRATIC UPSHIFT RATIO CORRECTIONS THAT FORCES PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR CLIMBING THE RAMPS CAUSING ERRATIC JUMPS/SPEEDS/PULLS AND SOMETIMES THE ENGINE TO BACKFIRE WHEN CLIMBING. CAR ALSO HAD NOTICEABLE JUMPS WHEN BRAKING TO A FULL STOP CONDITION FROM ANY SPEED. TESTED BY DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE CVT TRANSMISSION WITH A REMANUFACTURED UNIT, GOT IT BACK AFTER 4 DAYS. RIGHT AFTER DRIVING IT OUT OF THE DEALER WHO SUPPOSEDLY TOOK CARE OF THE 5K MILES MAINTENANCE AS WELL, MAINTENANCE REQUIRED SOON INDICATOR STARTED TO LIGHT EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED. THIS CONDITION COULD INCREASE THE CHANCE OF AN ACCIDENT WHEN DRIVEN UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES DUE TO ERRATIC/UNEXPECTED SPEED VARIATIONS. TRAC OFF & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BARELY FOR A DAY EVEN THOUGH THE MALFUNCTION WAS PRESENT AND WERE OFF WHEN THE CAR WAS LEFT FOR THE REPAIR IN THE DEALER, EVEN THOUGH THE CONDITION STARTED AT LEAST 10 DAYS BEFORE AS AN INTERMITTENT SITUATION, GETTING WORSE AT DAYS, NOT PRESENT DURING NORMAL TO HARD ACCELERATION BUT HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT DUE TO WORSENING OF THE DRIVABILITY, BUT THE GAUGES NEVER LIGHTED UP, BUT FOR A WHILE, THE DAY BEFORE IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHICH MAY INDICATE THAT DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM THE ON BOAD DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEMS MAY NOT ALERT A DRIVER OF THE MALFUNCTION, EVEN THOUGH IS PRESENT, WHICH MAY BE CAUSING THOSE CARS BEING DRIVEN BY UNEXPERIENCED OWNERS/DRIVERS WITH THAT FAULT BEING PRESENT INCREASING CHANCES OF HAVING A ACCIDENT, FORTUNATELY AT LOW SPEEDS. *TR
I WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE LIGHT SWITCH ON THE VEHICLE THAT I HAD JUST PURCHASED AND BELIEVED THAT I HAD TURNED ON THE LIGHTS OF MY VEHICLE. IN REALITY I WAS DRIVING WITH THE TAILLIGHTS OFF BECAUSE THE LIGHT SWITCH WAS IN THE "DLR" POSITION. (THE LIGHT SWITCH IS BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL WITH SMALL LETTERS THAT CAN'T BE READ IN THE DARK). THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THE TAILLIGHTS ARE OFF WHEN THE SWITCH IS IN THIS POSITION. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON AS WELL AS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATION. SINCE THEN I HAVE SEEN THE SAME VEHICLE / MODEL YEAR DRIVING WITHOUT TAILLIGHTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN APPROXIMATELY 5 OCCASIONS. I BELIEVE THAT SOONER OR LATER THIS DESIGN FLAW WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION SEVERAL TIMES. THE ENGINE SURGED AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, WHICH LED TO TWO CRASHES. DURING THE FIRST CRASH, THE VEHICLE SURGED IN REVERSE AND ACCELERATED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. WHEN THE GEAR WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO SURGE AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE WALL OF A HOUSE. THE SECOND CRASH OCCURRED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK. THE ENGINE SURGED AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO THE GARAGE WALL. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUFFER ANY INJURIES. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE EQUIPPED WITH AN OUTER SHIELD THAT CAUSED THE LIGHT BEAMS TO PRODUCE DIM VISIBILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
TOYOTA REDESIGNED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND WENT FROM A SINGLE CLEAR COVER ANGLED TOWARDS THE FRONT TO 2 SEPARATE INSTRUMENT COVERS ANGLED TOWARDS THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. THE DESIGN OF THESE COVERS RESULTS IN EXTREME REFLECTIONS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER DURING MORNING AND AFTERNOON HOURS WHEN THE SUN ENTERS THE VEHICLE FROM THE SIDE. THE REFLECTIONS UNDER THESE CONDITIONS ARE SO EXTREME THAT I CAN'T EVEN SEE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE. TINTING THE WINDOWS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. ON JULY, 03, 2014 I HAD TO GUESS MY SPEED BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER WAS UNREADABLE. I RECEIVED A SPEEDING TICKET SAYING THAT I WAS GOING AT A SPEED WHICH WOULD MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. I HAVE DRIVEN OVER 20 DIFFERENT CARS IN MY LIFE AND NEVER HAD A SITUATION WHERE I WAS NOT ABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER, EVEN IN MY 1968 OLDSMOBILE. TO MY UNDERSTANDING, A CAR MANUFACTURER HAS TO DESIGN THE SPEEDOMETER THE WAY THAT IT CAN BE READ UNDER ANY CONDITIONS WHICH IS POSSIBLE. IT APPEARS THAT TOYOTA'S ENGINEERS TOTALLY NEGLECTED THE PROBLEM OF SUNLIGHT REFLECTIONS WHEN DESIGNING THE 2014 COROLLA INSTRUMENT PANEL. *TR
MY 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA LE IS A LEASE I PICKED UP IN DECEMBER 2013 & NOW HAS 3641 MILES ON IT. I FIRST NOTICED THIS ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES WITHIN FIRST MONTH BUT FELT BECAUSE THE 2011 COROLLA I JUST TURNED IN WAS A DIFFERENT MODEL (NOT LE) & MANY CHANGES IN 2014 MODEL THAT PERHAPS I SHOULD GIVE IT MORE TIME. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN I STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT I MUST PUT A LOT OF PRESSURE ON BRAKE PEDAL & PRESS IT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AS FAR AS IT WILL GO OTHERWISE CAR WILL START TO ROLL. I HAD IT CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AT TOYOTA DEALERS & NO ONE CAN FIND ANYTHING WRONG SO I'VE BEEN LIVING WITH IT. LAST WEEK I HAD A CHANCE TO DRIVE A DIFFERENT 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA & BRAKE REACTIONS DIFFERENT I DID NOT HAVE TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD OR AS FAR AS I DO WITH MINE. ON 3/17/2015 I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO TOYOTA DEALER FOR BRAKES CHECK ONLY & TECH CHECKED SYSTEM FOR CODES (?) & DID TEST DRIVE BY HIMSELF & STATED HE DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG, THEN HE DID TEST DRIVE WITH ME DRIVING TO SEE IF I COULD 'RECREATE' THE ISSUE & ALTHOUGH THIS TECH ADMITTED HE COULD SEE I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED DOWN TO THE FLOOR THE ROLLING AT LIGHT DID NOT OCCUR (OF COURSE).THE TECH TOLD ME AS FAR AS THE OTHER 2014 COROLLA'S BRAKE PEDAL REACTIONS THAT TOYOTA MIGHT HAVE DRUM BRAKES ON IT (?) & MY CAR HAS DISC BRAKES.THE TECH ALSO TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO ADJUST, FIX OR REPAIR DISC BRAKES(?) WILL HAVE TO TAKE HIS WORD FOR IT. IN ANY EVENT I WAS TOLD ME TO KEEP A WATCH IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, ALSO IF CAR IS COLD OR HOT & SOMETIMES CAR WILL ROLL AUTOMATICALLY AT A LIGHT DUE TO A/C GOING ON & OFF & REGULATING ITSELF (WILL HAVE TO TAKE TECH'S WORD).THE ONLY THING I KNOW IS AT A STOP LIGHT IF I DON'T HOLD THAT BRAKE PEDAL DOWN HARD & AS FAR TO THE FLOOR AS I CAN THE CAR WILL ROLL WHICH TO ME IS DANGEROUS; HAVEN'T HIT ANYONE OR ANYTHING BUT TO ME THIS DOESN'T SEEM NORMAL OR RIGHT TO ME. *TR
IN JUNE 6, 2011 I HAD A CRASH BECAUSE MY TOYOTA COROLLA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AS I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT. TOYOTA HAD THE CAR INSPECTED IN HOUSE AND CLAIMED THERE WAS NO DEFECT IN THE CARS SYSTEMS. I FILED A REPORT WITH THE NHTSA TO NO AVAIL. JUST RECENTLY ON DECEMBER 13TH & DECEMBER 14TH, 2014 THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AS I WAS TURNING INTO PARKING SPOTS. I AM POSITIVE THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE CAR. I AM AFRAID I MAY BE KILLED OR INJURED WITH THIS SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *TR
