After having my vehicle washed at a car wash, paint began to peel. The vehicle at the time had only 42000 miles. Toyota repair apologized for the paint problem (V70 white) and said they would provide me with a car rental for 1-2 weeks while its repainted as there is a recall for the paint (again apologised for the inconvience). After discovering the recall expired, the insurance technician said he would call me back in 1-2 days as the vehicle is no longer under the recall (Does the paint repair itself after that time period)? The technician never called me back. The cost to repaint the vehicle is 7-$14000, more than the value of the vehicle with only 4 years worth of miles driven
THE PAINT ON MY CAR IS COMING OFF IN SHEETS AND CHUNKS AS I GO DOWN THE ROAD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH WHITE PAINT ON TOYOTA'S VEHICLES MANUFACTURED DURING YEARS THAT INCLUDE MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE HAD BEEN A PROGRAM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT IT EXPIRED, I THINK THIS SHOULD BE REPAIRED ASAP TO AVOID FUTURE DAMAGES & ISSUES
White paint and clear coat is peeling off vehicle in large sections. It started around the windows and door frames but now almost half the vehicle is missing the paint. I was told by a local mechanic that Toyota had a recall but when I went to Meridian Toyota, they said the recall was for 10 years from the manufacturer date which was 10/13. This is a 2014 vehicle so we didn’t purchase it until 2014. I went at the end of 2024 and they refused to help with it since it was manufacturers date and not 10 years from the year of vehicle. The vehicle is now starting to rust due to a known problem from Toyota which they refuse to fix. My family has had 7 Toyota vehicles which we love but I am extremely disappointed that you won’t fix this problem which is in no way our fault. The paint in the pictures attached has actually gotten worse in the past few months. Please help resolve this situation.
I BOUGHT A 2014 CERTIFIED TOYOTA COROLLA S AT TOYOTA CULVER CITY LAST JULY 2017, MAINTANANCE OF MY VEHICLE IS ALWAYS SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION EVER SINCE I GOT IT. THE OTHER DAY WHILE CLEANING MY VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE PAINT ON THE CORNER SIDE OF MY HOOD IS PEELING OFF. THOUGHT THAT IT WAS JUST NORMAL SO I BOUGHT A TOYOTA TOUCH UP PAINT AND TRIED TO TOUCH UP THE PEELING PAINT BUT EVER TIME I BRUSH IT LIGHTLY TO ADD THE TOUCH UP PAINT THE PAINT ON MY HOOD WILL PEEL OFF. I CHECKED GOOGLE TO SEE IF IM THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS ENCOUNTER THIS PAINT ISSUE. BUT ITS NOT JUST ME. I CHECKED IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THE PAINT JOB BUT NOTHING.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SECLUDED STREET AT ABOUT 20MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOYD EXPLOSION ON MY RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR. MY PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR HAD EXPLODED. THE MIRROR ITSELF WAS SHATTERED AND HANGING DOWN, THE BACK PANEL WAS FOUND IN SOME BUSHES ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. I WAS DRIVING UP THE STREET SO CARS WERE ON MY LEFT. THERE WAS NO ONE WALKING PAST, NOR WERE THERE ANY BICYCLES OR ANYTHING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THAT COULD CAUSE SUCH DAMAGE. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING. I SPENT ALMOST 30MINUTES WALKING UP AND DOWN THE STREET TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED AND NOTHING MADE SENSE. THE MIRROR DID NOT TURN IN, AS WOULD HAPPEN IF I HAD HIT SOMETHING. THERE IS A BLACK MARK ON MY CAR DOOR FROM THE GLASS PIECE SLAMMING INTO IT FROM THE EXPLOSION.

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO USE HIS KEY TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR USING THE DOOR HANDLE AND THE DOOR REFUSED TO OPEN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO DCH TOYOTA OF MILFORD (300 FORTUNE BLVD, MILFORD, MA 01757) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR ACTUATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COST DUE TO THE WARRANTY BEING EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. *TT *TR

THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER DROVE OVER THE BUMPER AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND HER ALSO DROVE OVER THE BUMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WEST PAINT BODY SHOP (5500 W 33RD ST, LITTLE ROCK, AR 72204) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BUMPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT BUMPER STARTED SLOWLY DETACHING THREE WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ASKED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2014 TOYOTA COROLLA SUNROOF EXPLODED, WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 95 ABOUT 40-45 MPH, SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT LUCKY WE HAD THE COVER OF THE SUNROOF CLOSED, THOUGHT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A ROCK BUT THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF US, GOT HOME AND FOUND HOLE IN THE SUNROOF, GLASS WAS RAISED AS IF SOMETHING CAME FROM THE INSIDE OUT

SUNROOF EXPLODED
AS I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE RAIN STORM AT NIGHT, I NOTICED MY WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR STOP WORKING. THE NEXT MORNING I FOUND THERE IS A FLAW OF DESIGN WHERE THE FLUID DELIVERY SYSTEM IS BELOW THE ENGINE HOOD WHICH IS A COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY MORONIC. I FOUND OUT DAMAGED/DENT HOOD CAUSED IT TO IMPROPERLY MALFUNCTION. *TR
MOISTURE AND MOLD INSIDE CAR FOR NO REASON. THE CAR HAS SEEN NO SPILLAGE AND NO OPENED WINDOWS DURING RAIN YET THE INTERIOR IS ALWAYS FOGGED UP SINCE THE WEEK IT WAS PURCHASED AND THE CAR TRAPS MOISTURE AND CAUSES MOLD IN THE VENTS ON THE FLOOR INSIDE THE DOORWAY.
WHEN I PULL MY CAR INTO A PARKING SPOT WITH A CEMENT PARKING BUMP STOPPER, THE CAR HANGS UP ON IT CAUSING SOME SCRATCHES ON THE UNDERSIDE- TOYOTA HAS SAID THERE IS NO DESIGN FLAW BUT I DISAGREE. IF I DO NOT PULL IN ALL THE WAY, I RISK SOMEONE HITTING THE BACK OF THE CAR BECAUSE I WILL BE STICKING OUT TOO FAR. A SECOND PROBLEM IS THE AC. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND WHEN I GET INTO THE CAR IT IS OFTEN OVER 100 DEGREES.. I HAVE TO DRIVE FOR A FEW MINUTES WITH HOT AIR BLOWING ON ME BEFORE THE COOL AIR KICKS IN. THIS MAKES ME SWEAT AND VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. TOYOTA SAYS THAT IS JUST THE DESIGN OF THE CAR. I NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM WITH MY TWO RAV4'S. I AM ALSO WONDERING IF A HAVE THE AIRBAGS THAT ARE RECALLED. NO NOTICE YET.

SO I LEASED THE 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA S PLUS ON 2/23/14. APPROXIMATELY 2 TO 3 WEEKS LATER I WAS VACUUMING IT OUT, WHEN I LIFTED UP THE DRIVER SIDE CAR MAT IT HAD AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF WATER UNDER THE MAT. SO I DRIED IT OUT, WHEN I VACUUMED IT OUT AGAIN A WEEK LATER THERE WAS WATER AGAIN UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE CAR MAT. AGAIN I DRIED THE FLOOR AND I TOOK THE MATS OUT, LET THEM DRY OUT. THEN EVERY MORNING I WOULD CHECK AND WATER WAS UNDER MY DRIVER SIDE MAT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY THINK POSSIBLY A LEAK IN THE WINDSHIELD. I EXPLAINED TO THEM SEVERAL TIMES, I ROLL MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN WHEN I GET IN MY CAR EVERY MORNING AND WATER LITERALLY POURS IN WHEN I START DRIVING. MY ARMS AND LEGS ARE WET EVERY MORNING, IT'S FROM THE MORNING DEW ON THE CAR, IT RUNS RIGHT IN. I HAVE TO KEEP A TOWEL IN MY DOOR COMPARTMENT SO I CAN WIPE THE WATER OFF, SO IT DOESN'T RUIN THE INTERIOR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOW HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS, FRI, SAT, SUN TO "DRY IT OUT" BECAUSE THEY PULLED BACK THE CARPETS AND WATER WAS UNDER IT. THEY SAY NONE OF THE TUBES ARE LEAKING AND ALL THE TUBES ARE UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE ANYWAYS, EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT FINE. PERSONALLY I THINK ITS A DESIGN FLAW, WITH THE WINDOWS SEEING AS HOW THE 2014 IS A REDESIGN. *TR

TOYOTA REDESIGNED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND WENT FROM A SINGLE CLEAR COVER ANGLED TOWARDS THE FRONT TO 2 SEPARATE INSTRUMENT COVERS ANGLED TOWARDS THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. THE DESIGN OF THESE COVERS RESULTS IN EXTREME REFLECTIONS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER DURING MORNING AND AFTERNOON HOURS WHEN THE SUN ENTERS THE VEHICLE FROM THE SIDE. THE REFLECTIONS UNDER THESE CONDITIONS ARE SO EXTREME THAT I CAN'T EVEN SEE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE. TINTING THE WINDOWS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. ON JULY, 03, 2014 I HAD TO GUESS MY SPEED BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER WAS UNREADABLE. I RECEIVED A SPEEDING TICKET SAYING THAT I WAS GOING AT A SPEED WHICH WOULD MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. I HAVE DRIVEN OVER 20 DIFFERENT CARS IN MY LIFE AND NEVER HAD A SITUATION WHERE I WAS NOT ABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER, EVEN IN MY 1968 OLDSMOBILE. TO MY UNDERSTANDING, A CAR MANUFACTURER HAS TO DESIGN THE SPEEDOMETER THE WAY THAT IT CAN BE READ UNDER ANY CONDITIONS WHICH IS POSSIBLE. IT APPEARS THAT TOYOTA'S ENGINEERS TOTALLY NEGLECTED THE PROBLEM OF SUNLIGHT REFLECTIONS WHEN DESIGNING THE 2014 COROLLA INSTRUMENT PANEL. *TR
