"Engine Maintenance Required See Dealer" Message on Dash Display Engine Coolant Bypass Valve I see this incident repeated for the recent Corolla SE and RAV 4 multiple times with no recall/resolution other than Toyota customers should be prepared to spend close to $750 to fix and replace this part that only takes about 20 minutes to be replaced. This is not new to Toyota. This a rip off. A lot money was paid for the car. Went to dealer less than a year ago and purchased a 2020 SE with a $23,323 price tag. Including dealer fees, finance charges and extended warranties the total price comes to $39,000+. I feel cheated as a customer. A practically new car comes with a defective part and it is not covered by warranty?? Come on. I've trusted and recommended Toyota for years. Do you no longer stand by your company name? Need a better resolution. Please.
Coolant Bypass Valve seems to have an issue at 60k miles which seems to happen to many people at mileage even lower than mine sometimes! My dad had this issue on his 2021 Corolla at 50k miles.
The engine coolant bypass valve has been confirmed faulty at 47,000 due to failure to actuate. Known issues of engine coolant leaking failure have been reported.
The coolant bypass valve is failing. Engine Maintenance Required message popped on car display. Toyota is trying to charge over $600 to fix it. Many have reported same issue
All FOUR Goodyear Exhilarate tires cracked and separated from the sidewall on the interior side of the tire. i have one of the four tired saved and available for inspection. With the tire separating at the bead and sidewall on the interior side completely away from the butyl liner inside of the tire, it was a mere miracle that the car actually made it to the repair shop without blowing out, causing an accident which could have been a fatality or at least a very bad accident. The tires were taken to a Goodyear service center and after talking with corporate said it was nothing they could do and sent me on my way. By chance the car was going on a trip and wanted to get the tires rotated and the oil changed beforehand , had he not chosen to do such the outcome could've been terrible. There wasn't any warning of tire failure or loss of air due to the separation. Again, it was only by chance that this was caught and ALL FOUR tires replaced . The tire dealer stated that he hasn't ever seen ALL FOUR completely separate at the exact same location all the way around the tire. It is without a doubt a manufacturing error , old /burnt rubber used in the tire making process.

Now I'm unable to drive my vehicle in feared to be ticketed or being towed. Toyota needs to do better why am I paying for a car I can't drive. Please help!!!!!
"Engine Maintenance Required" sign came on, I took it to the dealership and was told it was the coolant bypass valve and it would be $800. Upon doing some research is see that this is a very common issue for 2020 Toyota Corollas. My car is still under 60,0000 so I'm surprised I need work this experience done already
engine maintenance required notification popping up. told i needed to replace engine coolant bypass valve. safety is at risk because the notification blocks my speedometer . dealer has confirmed that the engine bypass valve needs to be replaced and this happens with all toyotas around 40k miles. has been inspected by dealership. notification popped up on my car about two weeks ago.
Coolant bypass valve malfunction, leaking coolant, engine maintenance required sign pops up on dash around 60k miles
I keep getting a warning sign on my dashboard stating that "Engine maintenance required. Call your dealership". After scanning for codes, I get the code P2681, or that the Engine coolant bypass valve is faulty. After looking online it appears that this is a common issue with this car model. There is a class action lawsuit for this right now since the part is known to be faulty and can crack and leak engine coolant. Toyota has refused to issue a recall for this and will charge you to replace this faulty hardware. I also am not able to clear the message while driving and it will constantly pop back up distracting me while driving and making me unable to see any important warning on my dashboard. This is endangering my ability to safely drive my vehicle.
The anti-lock brake system (ABS) malfunctioned when the vehicle was still very new, with only 25,000 miles. Diagnostics from two independent service centers confirmed that the ABS electronic control unit is failing due to an external failure. Both specialists stated that such a failure is highly uncommon and is a clear quality issue related to the electronic components. A critical system like ABS should not fail this early, raising serious concerns about the durability and reliability of the vehicle’s braking system.
I have a message that says engine maintenance required. I ran a diagnostic and it is for the engine coolant bypass valve.
The coolant bypass valve was constructed of poor quality plastic, and has cracked at a mere 50,000 miles. It's Leaking coolant into the sensor. Along with potentially causing major damage to the engine.
There is a problem with the bypass control heater valve of my car Corolla Toyota 2020 It says i have to replace it but it's still running good. I research what this part is about and it says that this is a malfunction in all the Toyota Corollas and RAV4 2019-2021. The message "engine maintenance required" doesn't go away and it doesn't let me see the mile percentage when driving. This problem has been confirmed by a mechanic who installed the tablet and run a test to see what's wrong with it. The car has not been checked by insurance because of this manufacturer malfunction. This all started happening 6 months ago and haven't found a way to replace it and dealership charges over 800 dollars for a mistake Toyota made on all Corollas line. Please help me find a solution. Thank you!
At 55K miles for my 2020 Toyota Corolla, the Engine Maintenance Required notification popped up on my screen and is not removable. Upon further verification numerous 2020-2021 corollas have been having this issue at similar amounts of mileage. It is a faulty Engine Coolant Bypass Valve that needs to be replaced. If I were to take it in to a dealership, they would charge $500+ just as they have for many others when it should really be a recall. As of now I have not taken it to be inspected due to fear of steep labor costs. My safety is at risk because if this does not get replaced my engine will overheat causing total failure of the car, and as a 2020 model with such low mileage, this is ridiculous.
"Engine Maintenance Required - Visit Your Dealer" message popped up on my car's (Toyota Corolla 2020) dashboard all of a sudden and I didn't have any issues with engine before. I brought up my card to Toyota Service Center in Sunnyvale, CA and they told me that my car's coolant bypass valve has to be replaced and re-check if it's needed which is an uncertain thing and advised me not driving the car as it may damage the cooling system components or even the engine itself. All of these will cost me 911.58$ which is too much but it's not all yet. I was researching this issue on the Internet and figured out that many people who has the Corolla 2020 and 2021 had the exact same issue. I don't think it's a coincidence. People also complaining about the same issue for Toyota Rav4 and Toyota Camry. I don't want to pay so much money which is almost 1k. I never had any accidents and or crashes. Engine maintance required/coolant bypass valve issue
The Coolant Bypass Valve on my Toyota Corolla 2020 is faulty. An "Engine Maintance Required" code appeared a couple months ago, when the vehicle was still under 60K miles. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. A faulty coolant bypass valve can cause the engine to overheat or leak coolant, leading to potential breakdowns or accidents. It may also trigger warning lights and reduce cabin heating, creating further safety risks. Not confirmed by dealership/indepenent service center. Only confirmed by personal inspection. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by manufactuer/police/insurance representatives. "Engine Maintance Required" message appeared on digitial display of vehicle. Message does not appear when the vehcile is turned on while A/C system is left OFF, but upon turning on the A/C, the maintaince required message appears, indiciating a faulty bypass valve.

Coolant bypass valve bad at 26000 miles
The Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Short in the vehicle has malfunctioned. This appears to be widespread issue not only in the Corolla, but in the Camry and RAV4, and appears to affect model years 2019-2024. This issue caused coolant leakage, has the potential to cause issues with the engine, and affects the A/C/Heating systems as well. There were no warning signs prior to the failure, and the car had just passed a multi point inspection 4 days prior to the failure. The problem has been reproduced by my local Toyota dealership.
Engine coolant valve is broken. Part of power train as it cools circuits for the power train.
At 4 years and 1/2 old car 2020 Corolla XSE an Engine Maintenance Required SEE DEALER light turned on. Did diagnostic with OBD 2 scanner at two locations auto body shop and Uto zone. Nothing appears. It is in fact a NEEDED future recall since thousands if not more people have encountered the same. It is a Coolant By Pass Valve. Cost is only $99.53 + tax at dealer. Problem is that should be under warranty or extended warranty or recall. Dealer likes to charge $800 (180-200 for diagnostic, $110 part, $400 labor. Part only takes 30 minutes to install. I should be able to buy at dealer for $110 and have them install for free or pay 30 minutes of work time = $85. 1 hour is about $175. So instead of trying to be billed $800 I should only be billed for $85 labor (30 minutes) + $110 part = Brand total of $105 USD. engine coolant bypass valve issues under 70k miles
My engine maintenance required screen came on in my car. When I ran the diagnostic, they stated that the coolant bypass valve needs to be replaced in order to prevent the engine from overheating. This seems to happen on all of the 2020 and 2021 Toyota Corollas.
The engine coolant bypass valve needed replacement at around 70,000 miles. Similar replacement have been needed in other corollas models of the same year.
Warning display message “Engine Maintenance Required Visit Your Dealer”. After diagnostic at the dealer, coolant bypass valve failed and needed replacement with hefty, almost $900.00 for parts and labor cost. Did research online, and it seems that more vehicles from the year 2020-2021 have experienced the same issue at 30-55k miles, my car is on 106k miles. My son and daughter in law moved from California to Georgia due to military duties in Hinesville Georgia. They drove their 2020 Toyota Corolla from California to Georgia. They paid the fee to obtain their 2024 registration sticker but got denied by the DMV in California due to a recall on this vehicle. My son took the vehicle to Chatham Parkway Toyota in Savannah Georgia to fix the recall. He received documentation that the recall has been fixed. My daughter in law took this documentation to the DMV and they said it was not sufficient, we needed to provide the original pink copy of the recall. Chatman Parkway Toyota never gave my son the original copy. Where can we obtain this so we can receive our registration sticker? Can you please help us out and contact Chatham Parkway Toyota to see if they even fixed the recall problem or not and why they did not give my son an original copy of the fixed recall situation. It has been a struggle to obtain the registration sticker when the recall was a problem. This situation has been very stressful due to an expired registration and not being able to drive u til we receive the correct sticker. Please help if you can. Thank you, [XXX] . [XXX] . The windshield wipers seize up. On the intermittent setting, instead of wiping every few seconds they sometimes wipe 3 times in a row and then stop in the middle of the windshield sometimes obstructing my view. They sometimes start back up on their own and sometimes are stuck there until I switch to a higher speed and lower speed for the windshield wipers. It becomes a game of trying to restart them while driving while it's raining. It's dangerous.
The "Engine Maintenance Required, Visit Your Dealership" is displayed. The oil has been changed and tried to reset the warning as it states in the owners manual but it wont reset.
Experience with a faulty Coolant Bypass Valve. Read enough information of this being a problem with newer toyotas (RAVs, Camrys, Corollas, etc.). Cannot get rid of Engine Maintence Required notification on dash which pops up every 10 seconds when I’m driving after I dismiss it. This specific notificaiton is also NOT in the Toyota Manual whatsoever, and no it is not the Maintenance Service Required notification that comes up every 5,000 miles for basic check up.
I was in a car accident where someone hit us at a high speed from behind. Unfortunately the air bags malfunctioned resulting in my face being busted on the front dash. The car gave me a malfunction warning when they didn’t deploy
Dashboard stated engine maintenance required- visit your dealer and it turned out to be a bypass coolant valve malfunction per Toyota mechanic specialists.
Engine coolant bypass valve becomes faulty at low mileage
The car is at 58,125 miles and I’ve had a “engine maintenance required, please take to dealership” message for the past 3 months which will not go away and is just stuck on my dash. An OB2 port scanner shows nothing wrong, but after a diagnosis at toyota it appears I need a new engine coolant bypass valve. As it turns out, many other corolla, rav 4, and camry owners of the same generation (2020 and up) also receive the message and need to get the coolant bypass valves replaced around 30k-60k miles.
My 2020 Toyota Corolla had a warning light turn on, on 3/20/2024. The warning read "Engine Maintenance Required". I looked up this issue and read that many people were having similar issues with the coolant bypass valve. I took my car to my local Toyota dealership and they confirmed it was the coolant bypass valve. The risks included in this failure can be overheating and engine damage.
