FOR NO REASON AT ALL MY SUNVISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WILL NOT STAY UP. IT IS VERY DISTRACTING TRYING TO DRIVE WITH IT HALF WAY DOWN AND OBSTRUCTS MY VISION. I HAVE NOT YET PUT IT IN THE SHOP YET SO DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO FIX IT, BUT IT HAS TO BE FIXED. IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR IS BROKEN AND STUCK AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE, AND WILL NOT STAY IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION, OBSTRUCTING VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN ISSUE OF THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, AS THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONCE DOING A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH.
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR SPRING BROKE PREVENTING THE VISOR FROM EITHER FOLDING BACK UP OR COMING DOWN COMPLETELY, CAUSING A VISIBILITY PROBLEM AND A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
THE OPEN REAR AUTOMATIC DOOR FAILED, IMMEDIATELY CLOSING ON MY WIFE'S BACK AS SHE WAS REMOVING A BAG FROM THE REAR CARGO AREA. THE FAILURE HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING AND CAME DOWN HARD. AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, TOYOTA WOULD NOT REPLACE AT THEIR COST. *TR
BOTH FRONT INNER BRAKESPADS COMPLETELY WARNED OUT DAMAGING BOTH ROTORS BADLY, SOME METAL PIECES FOUND ON FLOOR BROKE LOOSE FROM BOTH FRONT ROTORS. OUTSIDE PADS HAS 60% THICKNESS LEFT ON IT. ENDED UP CHANGING BOTH FRONT ROTORS AND PADS COSTING $375. MECHANIC SAID THIS MAY BE A RESULT OF A FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEM. TALK TO TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE WITHOUT ANY SOLUTION OR RESPONSE. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR SPRING IS BROKE SO THAT VISOR BLOCKS DRIVER'S VISION CAUSING POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. STAYS IN PARTIALLY DOWN POSITION. CONTACTED DEALER AND TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE. THERE WERE OVER 300 SUN VISORS ON BACK ORDER WITH NO DELIVERY PROMISE DATE AS PRODUCTION OF VISOR HAS BEEN HALTED. THERE ARE NO REPAIRS. INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT 17 OF THE 66 COMPLAINTS IN DATA BASE FOR HIGHLANDER ARE SUN VISOR ISSUES. TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE SAYS NO RECALLS, SERVICE BULLETINS. DEALER WANTS OVER $300 TO REPAIR, IF HE COULD GET A VISOR. THIS CLEARLY A GENERIC ISSUE WITH SAFETY IMPLICATIONS! *TR
POWER BACK DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY, BROKEN AT 43,326 MILES AFTER THE 36 MONTHS OR 36,000 MILES. *TR

IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER!! %&*@* HIGHLANDER HAS MORE SAFETY PROBLEMS.... 24,988 MILES; SUNDAY, OCT 26, 2014 OUR YOUNGEST SONS SEATBELT (2ND ROW PASSENGER BEHIND DRIVER SEAT) WOULD NOT RELEASE; CAUSING HIM TO PANIC AND NEARLY CHOKE HIMSELF TO GET OUT. I HAD TO YANK, PULL AND TUG TO GET THE BELT TO RELEASE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED INCLUDING NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IT TO CLICK AND STAY BUCKLED. SO, BESIDES A VEHICLE WE CAN'T DRIVE FAR TO NOT RISK GETTING STRANDED BECAUSE OF REPORTED ENGINE MALFUNCTION ISSUES (TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., INC. EXPRESSED CLEARLY: 'OH WELL, TOO BAD, YOUR SCREWED, GOOD LUCK!), THE LIE OF A COVER UP EXTENDED WARRANTY NEVER RECEIVED AND NOW WE CAN'T USE THE 2ND ROW PASSENGER SEAT BEHIND DRIVER DUE TO SEAT BELT NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE SUN VISOR POPPED WHEN I WAS PULLING IT DOWN TO SHEILD MY EYES AND NOW IT WILL NOT RETURN TO ORIGINAL POSITION. CONCERN AS IT GETS IN MY WAY WHEN DRIVING. THIS IS THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR WHICH I TEND TO HIT MY HEAD ON AND HAVE TO MOVE MY SEAT LOWER IN ORDER TO SEE PROPERLY. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $300 TO FIX. THAT IS RIDICULOUS AS I FEEL THIS IS A FAULTY PART THAT COULD BE A HAZARDOUS SITUATION IF NOT TAKEN CARE OF. RECAL MAY BE IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE.
I HAD MY CAR IN FOR IT'S 60,000 MILE SERVICE ON FRIDAY, OCT 3RD, 2014 AT CHEROKEE TOYOTA, CANTON, GA. MY WIFE DROVE IT FOR ONLY THE THIRD TIME SINCE THE SERVICE AND ENCOUNTERED A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE HIGHLANDER STARTED TO ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN. MY WIFE STEPPED ON THE BRAKES THEN THE ENGINE CUTOFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I MEET UP WITH HER AND TRIED TO START THE CAR. THE ENGINE TACHOMETER RAPIDLY INCREASED THEN THE ENGINE SHUTOFF. TOWED TO CHEROKEE TOYOTA FOR EVALUATION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN THE COASTAL HILLS OF THE SAN FRANCISCO PENINSULA WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE CAR STARTED VIBRATING SEVERELY WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES ON DOWNWARD SLOPES. I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THE BRAKE DISCS OVERHEATING. FOR THE REMAINED OF THE TRIP I USED THE GEARSHIFT TO SLOW DOWN THE CAR WHEN DRIVING ALONG DOWNWARD SLOPING ROADS BY SELECTING 2ND GEAR IN THE AUTOMATIC GEARSHIFT. BY AVOIDING USE OF THE BRAKES, I AVOIDED THE VIBRATION AND WAS ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY. I SUBSEQUENTLY BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE. THE TECHNICAL STAFF CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKE DISCS SHOWED SIGNS OF OVERHEATING BUT DID NOT REPLACE THEM UNDER WARRANTY. THIS SAME PROBLEM PRESENTED ITSELF EARLIER, TOO, AT APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES, DURING A TRIP IN THE SIERRA NEVADA. ON THIS PREVIOUS INCIDENT, WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE BRAKE DISKS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM WAS NOT ADDRESSED: THE UNDERSIZED DISCS BEING UNABLE TO DISSIPATE THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE BRAKES WHEN DRIVING DOWNHILL. PLEASE, CONSIDER THIS A SEVERE PROBLEM, POTENTIALLY REQUIRING A RECALL: THE SEVERE VIBRATIONS CAUSED BY THE BRAKES ON A DOWNWARD SLOPING MOUNTAIN ROAD, ESPECIALLY WITH WET OR SNOWY ROADS, COULD EASILY MAKE THE VEHICLE TO SLIP OUT OF CONTROL AND CAUSE A CRASH. *TR
THE AUTO LIFTGATE FOR THE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT GO UP AND DOWN. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH A SERVICE BULLETIN HAS GONE OUT FOR THIS DEFECT! *TR
REAR LIFT GATE STOPPED OPENING AND CLOSING WITH BUTTON ON DASH. HYDRAULIC ARM POPPED OFF. WAS ABLE TO REATTACH, BUT TOYOTA DEALER SAID IT WOULD KEEP HAPPENING BECAUSE THE HINGES OF THE DOOR WERE SEPARATING FROM THE DOOR AND TO GET THAT REPAIRED I WOULD NEED TO SEND IT TO THE BODY SHOP. THE ARM HAS SINCE SNAPPED IN HALF AND THE DOOR CAN ONLY BE OPENED/CLOSED MANUALLY, BUT TOYOTA WARNED ME THAT THE HINGES WILL CONTINUE TO BEND. I AM FEARFUL AS I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND DO NOT TRUST THE DOOR TO BE SAFE. TOYOTA DEALER WILL NOT REPAIR AT THEIR EXPENSE EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN LAWSUITS AND ARE SO MANY DOCUMENTED CASES.
STARTED THE CAR. POWER STEERING WAS GONE!! IT HAD JUST GONE OUT!!! THANK GOD I WAS IN TOWN. I HAD JUST GONE OVER MOUNTAIN ROAD WHERE I COULD HAVE GONE OVER A CLIFF AND BEEN KILLED. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR WITH HORRIBLE DIFFICULTY TO A MECHANIC ACROSS THE STREET AND THEY CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY TOLD THEM TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. THAT DIDN'T WORK. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHEN THEY TOOK THE TOW IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING. THEY CHECKED IT AND WAS GIVEN AN "ALL SYSTEM OK" ON THE POWERTRAIN, CHASSIS, ELECTRICAL AND NETWORK SYSTEMS. THEY SAID IT WAS A "GLITCH" A GLITCH???? THIS IS A CAR I PAID $34,000 FOR AND I HAVE KEPT UP WITH ALL THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. NOW I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. IT WAS TERRIFYING. I HAVE TO DRIVE HOME FROM SAN LUIS OBISPO TO LANCASTER CA AND I'M SCARED TO DEATH. A GLITCH???? *TR
DRIVER-SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE AND FAILED TO STAY IN UP POSITION, BLOCKING DRIVER'S VIEW OF ROAD AND CREATING A DISTRACTION. CAR WAS BROUGHT INTO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ON 16 AUGUST BUT SERVICE PERSONNEL INDICATED THAT THEY HAD NO VISORS IN STOCK. ORDERED ONE THAT DAY BUT COULD NOT GET THE PART UNTIL MID SEPT. PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY WERE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE PART BECAUSE THIS WAS A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM AND SUPPLIER COULD NOT KEEP UP WITH DEMAND. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC LATCH OF THE LIFTGATE STARTED TO FAIL. THE LIFTGATE NOT LONGER OPENS AUTOMATICALLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REJECTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS NOT LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING A DEER. THE CAR WENT ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND BACK ONTO THE ROAD. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR. A LARGE PIECE OF PLASTIC, AT LEAST 2FT. IN LENGTH,FLEW OFF ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE CAUSING SEVERE CUTS,LACERATIONS,AND ABRASIONS TO MY LEFT ARM - THIS REQUIRED A TRIP THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL WHERE MY ENTIRE ARM WAS TREATED. I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED BUT CANNOT ACCEPT THE FACT THAT I WAS INJURED BY FLYING PLASTIC DEBRIS...UPDATED 08/25/14 *BF UPDATED 09/2/2014 *JS
THE REAR DOOR SENSOR KEEPS INDICATING THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO FLASH, DOOR TO CHIME, AND THE REAR DISPLAY TO SHOW "DOOR OPEN". THIS BEGAN HAPPENING WHEN I WOULD TURN LEFT. WHEN THE WEATHER IS REALLY HOT OUTSIDE (90S AND ABOVE) IT IS WORSE. THIS ISSUE CAUSES A BIGGER PROBLEM, WITH THE VEHICLE THINKING THAT THE REAR DOOR IS NOT CLOSED IT DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK/ALARM MY VEHICLE WHEN OUT IN PUBLIC. I AM ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND CURRENTLY LIVE OVERSEAS, SO KEEPING MY VEHICLE LOCKED/ALARMED IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.
HEATER/AC ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING ONTO A CONTROL MODULE UNDER THE DASH WHICH I BELIEVE THE THE AIRBAG MODULE AND SOAKING THE FRONT DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS CARPETS AND PADDING. CHECKED FOR BLOCKAGE IN DRAIN TUBE. NONE, USED COMPRESSED AIR TO BLOW OUT DRAIN TUBE JUST IN CASE. DID NOT SOLVE ISSUE. REMOVED PASSENGERS SIDE PANEL AND FOUND THAT THE FACTORY SEAM OF THE AC/HEATER ASSEMBLY WAS LEAKING WATER WHEN THE AC IS ON. (I HAVE VIDEO) THE DESIGN OF THE ASSEMBLY IS POOR IN THAT THE SEAM SPLITS THE ASSEMBLY LEFT AND RIGHT RATHER THAN TOP AND BOTTOM. REPAIR OF THE UNIT WOULD HAVE REQUIRED COMPLETE REMOVAL OF DASH, STEERING, ETC. TO SOLVE THIS, I PLACED 3M GLASS SETTING BUTYL TAPE OVER THE SEAM SUCH THAT THE SEAM IN THE UNIT WAS SEALED ABOVE THE CONDENSATION DRAIN. THIS RESOLVED THE ISSUE.
THE POWER LIFT-GATE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN OR CLOSE PROPERLY, BROKE ABOUT 50000 MILES AFTER THE 36 MONTHS OR 36,000 MILES. THE CAR WAS TOYOTA CERTIFIED. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED AS A RECALL INSTEAD OF TSB BECAUSE IT WAS A DESIGNED ISSUES REASON TOYOTA UPGRADED WITH BETTER DESIGNED HINGES. ALSO, IT WILL BE NICE IF TOYOTA INFORMED US ABOUT THE TSB BY WRITING SO OWNER CAN DOUBLE CHECK. *TR

THERE ARE TWO ISSUES WITH MY 2011 HIGHLANDER. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 1 YEAR AGO AND AM QUITE UPSET ABOUT THE ISSUES AND THE MONEY THAT I NEED TO PUT INTO IT. I AM ACTUALLY LOOKING INTO TRADING THIS VEHICLE AS, AFTER SPENDING 26K ON IT, I SHOULDN'T BE DEALING WITH OR PAYING FOR THESE ISSUES. TOYOTA HAS BEEN NONEXISTENT IN OFFERING REMEDIES. I HAVE ONLY EVER OWNED TOYOTAS (2 CAMRYS AND 1 HIGHLANDER) AND PROBABLY WILL NEVER OWN ONE AGAIN. THANKS TOYOTA!!! - THE ALARM CONSTANTLY GOES OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I AM UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS ON THE VEHICLE OTHERWISE THE ALARM WILL GO OFF EVERY 30 MINUTES TO 1 HOUR. TOYOTA WANTS TO CHARGE $130 JUST TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT PRESENTS ITSELF IN EVERY TOYOTA FORUM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. - THE BOLTS THAT CONNECT THE WINDOW TO THE CONTRAPTION THAT ROLLS UP AND DOWN THE WINDOW ALL HAVE FALLEN OFF. THIS COST ME 150 TO FIX ON JUST ONE WINDOW. THE BOLTS LOOSEN BY THEMSELVES AND FALL OFF. THIS TOO HAS BEEN LISTED ON MANY TOYOTA FORUMS AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH AND APPROACHING A LEFT TURN. I TRIED TO BRAKE THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN AND THE BRAKE DID NOT WORK. MY FOOT PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN AND SINCE I HAD 2 KIDS IN THE CAR I WAS REALLY CONCERNED THAT I COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. I TRIED TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP AND HIT THE SIDE WALK. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME OR THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED. EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED, THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO MALFUNCTION AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK. I APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES AND THEN SLOWLY BRAKES, SOMETIMES DOES NOT BRAKE AT ALL. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO TOYOTA AND THEY ARE DENYING THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOME PROGRAMMING ISSUING WITH THE CAR AND THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO MALFUNCTION. I DON'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO TURN. I HAVE 5 KIDS AND DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR. *TR
MY HIGHLANDER HYBRID: PUSHED START BUTTON, AND BEHAVED NORMALLY. UPON BEING PLACED IN GEAR, THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. ONLY HEAVY BRAKE PRESSURE PREVENTED A SERIOUSLY DANGEROUSNESS CONDITION OF FULL ACCELERATION IN A SMALL PARKING LOT. WHEN PLACED IN PARK, THE THROTTLE REDUCED TO IDLE. I REPEATED THE ACTION OF PLACING THE CAR IN GEAR (EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE), AND AGAIN, THE THROTTLE ADVANCED TO A FULL ACCELERATION MODE. AGAIN, ONLY VERY HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PREVENTED UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION. I PARKED THE VEHICLE, AND CALLED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. AFTER BEING PLACED ON HOLD SEVERAL TIMES, I LEFT A VOICE MAIL WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I ALSO WENT ONLINE TO TOYOTA TO THE CUSTOMER HOTLINE, AND LEFT A DETAILED EMAIL WITH VIN, PROBLEM DESCRIPTION, AND EXPRESSED A CONCERN FOR A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. *TR
THE SPRING IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE AND IT NOW HANGS DOWN. IT WON'T STAY UP OR IN A POSITION TO BLOCK THE SUN. WE HAVE A BUNGY CORD TO HOLD IT OUT OF OUR LINE OF VISION BUT CANNOT USE IT. IT STILL HANGS DOWN A LITTLE AND "POPS OUT" FREQUENTLY BLOCKING VISION. VERY DANGEROUS. NOT UNDER WARRANTY I AM TOLD. *TR
WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE STEERING SYSTEM HAS A SIGNIFICANT "BUMP" OF "THUMP". THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH A PART OF THE STEERING SECTOR SHAFT THAT TOYOTA IS WELL AWARE OF BUT WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH DESIGN. TOYOTA WILL ONLY CORRECT PROBLEM IF CUSTOMER IS WILLING TO PAY COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1200. NOT SURE WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF CORRECTION IS NOT MADE, BUT I BELIEVE IT COULD LEAD TO FAILURE OF THE STEERING SYSTEM TO FUNCTION APPROPRIATELY.
THE REAR HATCH DOOR SENSOR GOES OFF WHEN THE CAR MAKES A TURN OR IS DRIVEN OVER BUMP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE DOOR SENSOR SYSTEM MUST BE REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF MORE THAN $700. ALSO, DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR DOES NOT STAY UP. COST TO REPLACE, $300. *TR

THE TECHNICAL STAFF CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKE DISCS SHOWED SIGNS OF OVERHEATING AND REPLACED THEM UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM: UNDERSIZED DISCS, UNABLE TO DISSIPATE THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE BRAKES WHEN DRIVING DOWNHILL. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS PRESENTED ITSELF AGAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 19,000 MILES, DURING ANOTHER TRIP IN THE COASTAL HILLS OF THE SAN FRANCISCO PENINSULA. PLEASE, CONSIDER THIS A SEVERE PROBLEM, POTENTIALLY REQUIRING A RECALL: THE SEVERE VIBRATIONS CAUSED BY THE BRAKES ON A DOWNWARD SLOPING MOUNTAIN ROAD, ESPECIALLY WITH WET OR SNOWY ROADS, COULD EASILY MAKE THE VEHICLE TO SLIP OUT OF CONTROL AND CAUSE A CRASH. *TR
I HAVE A 2011 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. THE ARM OF THE AUTOMATIC LIFT GATE DETACHED FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR. ON FEB 5, THE TOYOTA DEALER INFORMED ME THAT NOT ONLY WAS THE END OF THE ARM STRIPPED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT THAT THE MOTOR HAD BURNED OUT AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. I RARELY USE THE AUTO LIFT GATE, SO I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THIS.OF COURSE IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3,000 MILES. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NO KNOWN PROBLEMS BUT AFTER DOING SOME INVESTIGATING, THERE HAVE BEEN QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS FILED OVER THIS ISSUE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCH DOOR GATE AND WINDOW SUDDENLY OPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR GATE DOOR HINGE WAS BENT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR NO LONGER STAYS UP...IT FALLS DOWN HALFWAY WHICH IS BLOCKING MY VISION. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERN. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF $318.00. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS AND TOYOTA SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR NOT POSTING A RECALL ON SOMETHING SO DANGEROUS WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS. *TR

THE AUTOMATIC LATCH OF THE LIFTGATE STARTED TO FAIL. THE LIFTGATE NOT LONGER OPENS AUTOMATICALLY. I WAS TOLD IT IS PROBABLY THE MOTOR AND THE PARTS COST ALONE IS OVER $1,200. I CANNOT AFFORD THIS AND AM DOING WITHOUT THAT FEATURE, BUT ANNOYED! *TR
WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A STOP OR BARELY MOVING AND APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL SLOWLY, THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT GOING TO STALL. I SAY "ACTS" BECAUSE IF THE ENGINE STALLS, IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO BRAKE OR STEER. THE ENGINE HAS NOT STOPPED IN THESE CASES; IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS TRYING TO SHIFT UP OR DOWN BUT CANNOT MAKE UP ITS MIND AND JUST COASTS (SCARY IF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS CLOSING THE GAP). MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS SINCE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BREAK IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEFORE COMPLETING THE TURN; ONCOMING CARS TEND NOT TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THEY SEE YOU MAKING A TURN IN FRONT OF THEM. *TR

HAVE TAKEN THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED IT HAS TO BE A RUBBER IN THE REAR WINDOW THAT CAUSES THIS ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING AROUND AT ANY SPEED IT RANDOMLY STARTS TO BEEP AND GOES OFF. NOT SAFE WHEN TAKING THE VAN OUT AND ISN'T ABLE TO LOCK OUT IN PUBLIC. *TR

THE POWER FUNCTION LIFT ARM BROKE OFF FROM WHERE IT CONNECTS INTO THE REA DOOR ON MY 2011 HIGHLANDER. TOYOTA DIDN'T MENTIONED ABOUT THE DOOR HINGES RELATED ISSUES AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF THE HINGES. THIS, OF COURSE DIDN'T PREVENTED NOR RESOLVED THE ISSUE WITH THE POWER FUNCTION LIFT ARM THAT NOW IS BEYOND REPAIR; THE BOLT AND SCREW HOLE ARE NOW STRIPPED.
WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE ON-RAMP OF THE OF THE HIGHWAY, THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON,THE REAR DOOR/WINDOW WARNING CAME ON AND THEN THE DOME LIGHTS CAME ON. IT CONTINUED GOING ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES. VERY CONCERNING WHEN YOU ARE IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND CAN'T GET OFF! PREVIOUS TIMES THAT THIS OCCURRED, THE SEAT BELT WARNING WOULD DING, THE "BACK DOOR OPEN" WARNING WOULD FLASH, THE DOME LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON, AND THEN IT WOULD STOP. YESTERDAY, THAT CYCLE CONTINUED. MY HUSBAND BELIEVES YESTERDAY'S INCIDENT BEGAN DUE TO A BUMP IN THE ROAD. ON PREVIOUS OCCASIONS, THERE WAS NO BUMP. *TR
