TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON AND/OR KEY FAILED TO OPEN THE TRUNK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTHRIDGE TOYOTA (9550 NORDHOFF ST, NORTHRIDGE, CA 91324, (818) 734-5600). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT *TR
WIND NOISE FROM PANORAMIC SUNROOF. SEAL DETERIORATING AT BOTH ENDS.
FUEL DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN BY PRESSING THE INTERIOR BUTTON OR THE EMERGENCY LATCH. HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER WHO ALSO COULD NOT OPEN IT AND THEY REMOVED THE PART UNTIL IT COULD BE FIXED. I DROVE WITH THE GAS TANK DOOR OPEN UNTIL THE PART WAS REPLACED. WE DISCOVERED THE ISSUE WHILE PARKED AT A GAS STATION. WE COULD'VE BEEN STRANDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. A POLICE OFFICER HELPED THE CONTACT COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER IT WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DARCARS TOYOTA FREDERICK (5293 BUCKEYSTOWN PIKE, FREDERICK, MD 21704, (301) 696-6300), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
THE SEAT BELT COILED AROUND MY 8 YEAR OLD SON'S NECK AND THE SEAT BELT LOCK WOULD NOT DISENGAGE. WE TRIED GENTLY ROCKING THE SEAT BELTS BUT IT THERE WAS NO GIVE IN IT. MOVING IT HARDER WOULD HAVE CHOKED MY SON. WE HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT TO RELEASE MY SON. THIS HAPPENED AFTER A 10 MIN RIDE COMING BACK FROM THE SCHOOL. HE WAS SEATED IN THE REAR RIGHT SIDE SEAT. HE WANTED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR WHEN WE REACHED HOME. SINCE HE IS EIGHT YEARS NOW, HE ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES THE SEAT BELT HIMSELF. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICTURE.
ON 10/30/16 I TOOK MY 2015 HIGHLANDER TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER FOR WARPED ROTORS. THEY AGREED THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND SINCE IT WAS AT 35,000 MILES THEY REPLACED ALL 4 ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY PLUS 2 NEW BRAKE PADS WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR. I NOTICED THE SAME ISSUE IN LATE MAY OF 2017 AND CALLED TO ASK ABOUT THIS. THEY SAID "WE DON'T WARRANTY WARRANTY WORK" AND SUGGESTED I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS. ON JUNE 21, 2017 I CALLED TOYOTA AND FILED A COMPLAINT. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DIFFERENT LOCAL DEALER, CLOSER TO MY HOME, AND THEY WOULD INSPECT THE ROTORS FOR A CHARGE. ON JULY 11, 2017 I DID THIS AND THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME SHE NOTICED THAT THE ROTORS WERE "BLUE" AND SHE NOTED THAT THEY SHOULD BE CHANGED. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS WITH THIS INFO BUT THEY REFUSED TO COVER THIS, STATING THAT THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. LATER THAT DAY I HEARD FROM THE TOYOTA HQ REP WHO REPEATED THAT TOYOTA COULD NOT COVER THIS. ON 8/7/2017 I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH VERMONT ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. AS OF 10/10/17 THIS COMPLAINT IS STILL NOT RESOLVED AS THEY WON'T COVER THE REPAIR. THE CAR IS NOW AT 63,000. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. NOTE: ACCORDING TO TOYOTA NATION WEBSITE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THESE SAME ISSUES. BELOW IS THE RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER ON AUGUST 24, 2017. I DISCUSSED THIS SITUATION WITH OUR ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER. SHE DID CONTACT TOYOTA TO ASK THEM TO COVER THIS REPAIR AND THEY DECLINED. THEIR REASONING FOR THIS IS THAT THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKE ROTORS, I.E. THEY ARE BLUE, INDICATES A HEAT EVENT. THIS USUALLY RESULTS FROM HEAVY BRAKING, BRAKING WHILE GOING DOWNHILL OFTEN OR SOMETIMES IF THE BRAKES GOT HOT AND THEN WENT THROUGH COOL WATER. The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Highlander. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering became firm. The steering wheel independently moved to the left and to the right. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
ON SEPT. 14, 2014, WE PURCHASED A 2015 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER XLE, WHICH CAME WITH BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L 422 ECOPIA TIRES. ON AUG. 20, 2015, WHEN THERE WERE 10,235 MILES ON THE CAR, WE REPLACED 1 OF THE TIRES WITH A NEW BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L 422 ECOPIA TIRE. ON SEPT. 26, 2016, WHEN THERE WERE 23,324 MILES ON THE CAR, WE REPLACED ANOTHER OF THE TIRES WITH ANOTHER NEW BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L 422 ECOPIA TIRE. ON AUG. 17, 2017, WHEN THERE WERE 31,228 MILES ON THE CAR, WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO TOYOTA OF HACKENSACK FOR ITS 35,000-MILE FACTORY MAINTENANCE, BEFORE WE WOULD DEPART FOR A FAMILY VACATION WHERE WE EXPECT TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 2,500 TO 3,000 MILES. DURING THE MULTIPOINT INSPECTION OF THE CAR, THE TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT ALL 4 TIRES WERE WORN. AFTER DISCUSSING THIS MATTER FURTHER, THE TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER RECOMMENDED THAT WE SHOULD REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES. TOYOTA AND THEIR WHOLESALE TIRE DEALER BOTH CONTACTED THE BRIDGESTONE TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF COURTESY CREDIT THAT BRIDGESTONE WOULD PROVIDE TO US TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF NEW TIRES, AS ONE OF THE ALREADY-REPLACED TIRES WAS ONLY USED FOR 7,904 MILES (I.E, 31,228 23,324 = 7,904), ANOTHER OF THE ALREADY-REPLACED TIRES WAS ONLY USED FOR 20,993 MILES (I.E., 31, 228 10,235 = 20,993), AND THE 2 REMAINING ORIGINAL TIRES WERE ONLY USED FOR 31,228 MILES, AND THE BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/L 422 ECOPIA TIRES HAVE AN EXPECTED TREAD WEAR LIFE OF 65,000 MILES. TOYOTA ALSO ADVISED BRIDGESTONE THAT THE TIRES WERE ROTATED EVERY 5,000 MILES AND WERE PROPERLY ALIGNED. NONETHELESS, BRIDGESTONE TOOK THE POSITION THAT SINCE THE TREAD WEAR ON THE 4 TIRES WAS 6-4-4-2, IT INDICATED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT PROPERLY ALIGNED AND A WARRANTY CLAIM WAS IN APPROPRIATE. TOYOTA TRIED EXPLAINING TO BRIDGESTONE THAT BY REPLACING TWO OF THE TIRES IN 2015 AND 2016 AND HAVING USED TWO OF THE TIRES OR ONLY 7,904 MILES AND 20,993 MILES, DESPITE ROTATING THE TIRES PROPERLY, THE TREAD WEAR HAD TO BE SLIGHTLY UNEVEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WORKED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HARTFORD TOYOTA SUPERSTORE IN HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN EVALUATOR TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE REPORT, THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING TO MANUFACTURER STANDARDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 16001120892. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
ON JULY 15, 2015, MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A NEW 2015 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER XLE FWD FROM A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. WE SPECIAL-ORDERED THE EXACT CAR WE WANTED. WE HAVE NOW OWNED THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND PUT ABOUT 12,000 MILES ON IT. BEFORE BUYING, WE TEST DROVE A HONDA ODYSSEY, A HONDA PILOT, A TOYOTA SIENNA, A TOYOTA HIGHLANDER, A NISSAN PATHFINDER AND A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AFTER TEST DRIVING EACH OF THE CARS NOTED ABOVE FOR LESS THAN AN HOUR I HAD A VERY STRONG HEADACHE. AS A RULE, I DON'T GET HEADACHES, SO THESE WERE OBVIOUSLY THE RESULT OF MY BREATHING THE AIR IN THESE NEW CARS. CAR INTERIORS ARE MADE USING PLASTICS, ADHESIVES, FIRE-RETARDANTS AND A LONG LIST OF OTHER MATERIALS, MANY OF WHICH OFF-GAS HIGHLY TOXIC CHEMICALS. SO WE FIRST TRIED TO FIND A USED HIGHLANDER, BUT COULD NOT FIND A RECENT MODEL YEAR THAT WAS EQUIPPED THE WAY WE WANTED. SO WE ORDERED A NEW ONE. AFTER WE TOOK POSSESSION OF THE CAR, I DROVE IT HOME, WITH ALL THE WINDOWS DOWN, THE MOON ROOF OPEN AND THE VENTILATION FAN RUNNING AT FULL SPEED. I THEN PARKED THE CAR IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND LEFT IT IN THE SUN ALL DAY, EVERYDAY FOR A MONTH. I HAD THE WINDOWS DOWN JUST SLIGHTLY AND A SMALL FAN IN THE CAR WHICH STIRRED THE AIR. I ALSO PUT A LARGE TRAY OF ACTIVATED CARBON IN THE CAR, CHANGING THAT MATERIAL EVERY FEW DAYS. AT NIGHT, I MOVED THE CAR INTO OUR GARAGE, ROLLED DOWN ALL THE WINDOWS AND HAD AN EXHAUST FAN RUNNING, WHICH CHANGED THE AIR IN THE GARAGE SEVERAL TIMES AN HOUR. AFTER A MONTH OF THAT ROUTINE I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT GETTING A HEADACHE, THOUGH AFTER TWO YEARS, I CAN STILL FEEL THE EFFECT OF THAT POLLUTED INTERIOR AIR. OUR GRANDDAUGHTERS ARE VISITING US THIS SUMMER AND, THOUGH I NEVER MENTIONED MY EXPERIENCE TO THEM, THEY BOTH HOLD THEIR NOSES WHEN THEY GET IN THE CAR, UNTIL THEY CAN ROLL DOWN A WINDOW. PLEASE ADD INTERIOR AIR QUALITY TO YOUR SAFETY RATINGS.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A FEEDER ROAD OF THE INTERSTATE ~50MPH. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND ME AND THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. I PULLED OVER AND THE REMAINING GLASS WAS CLEARLY PUSHED OUTWARD, NOT INWARD.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HEARD A CONSTANT BEEPING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE PANEL. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE NAVIGATION/RADIO WILL FREEZE AND BECOME UNRESPONSIVE. THE RADIO WILL THEN REBOOT AND RESET ALL SETTINGS BACK TO DEFAULT. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING FOR THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER IN THE AUTOMOBILE AND COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON VARIOUS FORUMS. I ASKED TOYOTA FIX THIS ISSUE AND THEY OFFERED TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE FOR $70. THIS IS NOT A PART THAT BROKE OR DEGRADED FROM WARE, THIS RADIO DOESNT WORK AND TOYOTA IS TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF THIS. I CONTACTED ENTUNE TO SEE IF I COULD GET THE FILE TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE MYSELF AND WAS TOLD NO. I WAS TOLD IF I HAD LESS THAN 36000 MILES I COULD GET THIS FIXED FOR FREE AS IT WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. THIS ISNT A MAP UPDATE, THIS IS A FUNCTION THAT DOESNT WORK. I PAID FOR THIS PREMIUM AUDIO PACKAGE THAT DOESNT WORK. WHY WOULD MY MILEAGE PLAY ANY PART TO MY RADIO NOT WORKING?
THE FRONT MAIN CONSOLE OF THE GPS, RADIO, AND ENTIRE RADIO HEAD WILL SUDDENLY GETS FROZEN AND/ REQUIRING REBOOT. THE VOICE ACTIVATION/RECOGNITION HAS HARD TIME RECOGNIZING VOICE, COMMANDS, AND 90% OF THE TIME IT IS A USELESS DEVICE, WHICH DRIVERS MUST USE THE PHONE MANUALLY INSTEAD. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR A DRIVER SINCE WE ARE RELYING ON THE MODERN DEVICES. A CONSUMER LIKE ME IS EXPECTING >$36,000 TO HAVE HANDS FREE AND EFFICIENT VOICE RECOGNITION AS PART OF SAFETY FEATURES .
I WAS DRIVING 80 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A "CHECK AWD" DISPLAY APPEARED. AT THAT SAME MOMENT I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER AND TO ACCELERATE. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OFF OF THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP. I DID NOT SEE ANY SMOKE, OR SMELL ANYTHING AND THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE SHOWED MID COOL SO I DECIDED TO START THE CAR AGAIN. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR, THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE "CHECK AWD" DISPLAY CAME ON AGAIN, AND THEN SECONDS LATER A TEMPERATURE LIGHT CAME ON WITH A LOUD ALARM. SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE FRONT LEFT HOOD. I SHOUTED FOR MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIEND TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I GRABBED MY PHONE AND RAN TO HER DOOR TO HELP HER AND HER FRIEND GET OUT. BY THE TIME WE WERE RUNNING AWAY, FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. WITHIN MINUTES MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES.
SUN ROOF GLASS SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH. VEHICLE WAS NOT STRUCK BY ANY OBJECTS. THE GLASS FAILED AND SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING AT THE INTERSTATE SPEED LIMIT.
ANOTHER DRIVER PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME ON A CITY STREET ON 03/23/17 AND I HIT THE SIDE OF HIS CAR WITH THE FRONT OF MY SUV. I WAS GOING ABOUT 35-40 MPH THE FORCE FROM HIS CAR THEN KNOCKED ME HEAD ON INTO A LIGHT POLE. I WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AT THE INITIAL HIT. MY SUV WAS TOTALED AND THE FRONT FRAME WAS BENT FROM THE IMPACT INTO THE POLE. THE AIR BAG NEVER CAME OUT AT ALL. THE RESCUE MEN ALL REMARKED ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE ACCIDENT WAS SO FORCEFUL. I HAD A CONCUSSION & HAD TO RETIRE FROM MY JOB & CONTINUE TO HAVE MEMORY ISSUES. I CALLED TOYOTA ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THE ACCIDENT WHEN I FELT A LITTLE BETTER SO THEY COULD LOOK INTO IT. BY THE TIME THEY GOT WITH THE PLACE WHERE THE CAR HAD BEEN TOWED, THE SUV HAD BEEN SOLD FOR SCRAP ( I GUESS) SO THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET THE DATA BOX.
TOUCH SCREENS AUDIO SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING FOR THE PASS TWO YEARS
BRAKES LIGHTS TO DO NOT ALWAYS LIGHT UP. TOOK TO AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. MY WIFE DRIVES CAR HOME AND I CAN SEE THAT LEFT SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WORK BUT RIGHT SIDE (PASSENGER) DOES NOT LIGHT UP. TURN SIGNALS ARE OK. BRAKES LIGHT WORK SOMETIMES. NOT BULB PROBLEM.

THE POWER LIFTGATE CLOSED ON MY HEAD WHEN I WAS PUTTING STUFF IN THE TRUNK. IT WAS OPEN LIKE NORMAL, BUT THEN IT SUDDENLY DROPPED WITHOUT WARNING. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED IT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS CLOSING COMPLETELY. IT IS STILL HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET FIXED AND THEY "RESET" THE SYSTEM BUT THAT DIDNT FIX ANYTHING. IT IS STILL NOT CLOSING COMPLETELY SOMETIMES. IT WILL SEEMINGLY OPEN FINE (ALTHOUGH IM AFRAID IT WILL FALL ON MY HEAD) BUT WHEN I HAVE TO CLOSE IT WILL SOMETIMES CLOSE AND IT WILL SOMETIMES CLOSE ALMOST ALL THE WAY AND THEN IT WILL BEEP TWICE AND OPEN A BIT AGAIN AND SIT THERE. I WILL HAVE TO HIT IT TO OPEN AND CLOSE AGAIN AND HOPE THAT IT WORKS. SOMETIMES I GET IT IN 2 TRIES AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES 4 OR 5 TIMES TO GET IT TO CLOSE.
WE WERE DRIVING DURING HEAVY RAINS AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. TRAFFIC WAS SLOWED AHEAD. THE SYSTEM SIGNALS AN ALARM THAT TRAFFIC AHEAD IS SLOWING, A VERY NICE FEATURE. HOWEVER, WHILE THE ALARM WAS GOING OFF, I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH ZERO RESPONSE, LIKELY DUE TO THE ABS NOT WANTING ME TO SLIDE ON THE WET ROADS. HOWEVER AS I GOT CLOSER AND CLOSER TO THE SLOWED TRAFFIC AHEAD, I NEEDED TO PRESS THE BRAKE HARDER AND HARDER. THE BRAKES SIMPLY STOPPED DECELERATING THE HIGHLANDER AND WE SMASHED INTO THE BACK OF A SMALLER VEHICLE. WHILE I APPRECIATE ABS AND THE DESIRE TO PREVENT SLIDING, I MUST BE ABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE. I HAVE READ COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS OCCURRING, YET I DO NOT SEE A RESOLUTION.
THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN AND REBOOTS. THE FRONT USB PLUG WORKS INCONSISTENTLY. THE DOOR LOCKS WORK INCONSISTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA IN SLIDELL, LA AND THEY CHARGED ME $600 AND SAID IT WAS MY BATTERY. MY CAR IS STILL DOING THE ABOVE AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA. :-(

CAR GOING IN FOR THE SECOND TIME TO REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL SEAT ADJUSTMENT PANEL AND THE OTHER COMPONENTS NEEDED TO KEEP IT HELD IN PLACE. THE PLASTIC CLIPS ON THE PARTS JUST DO NOT APPEAR TO BE SUFFICIENT TO KEEP THE PANEL IN PLACE. CAR HAS JUST UNDER 33K MILES. THE PANEL IS RARELY USED AND IT APPEARS THAT JUST THE ENTRY AND EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO BE CAUSING ENOUGH MOVEMENT FOR THE PARTS TO WEAR OUT.
TWO OR THREE TIMES NOW, WHILE PAUSED IN TRAFFIC, I LOOK AT THE RADIO INSTRUMENT PANEL AND IT HAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND REBOOTS, IT THEN CAUSES ALL PREVIOUSLY PROGRAMMED INFORMATION IN THE SYSTEM TO BE CHANGED. IN ADDITION AT THE SAME TIME, THE STEERING FEELS LIKE IT "PAUSES". I CHECKED MY VIN IT IS NOT IN THE RECALL BUT I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ONCE THE ELECTRICAL RADIO/ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM REBOOTED WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, I ONLY NOTICED IT BECAUSE THE RADIO SHUT OFF. THE DEALER SAID IT MAY NEED MAP UPDATE WHICHNIS 175 FOR THE SOFTWARE LOAD PLUS $ 75 SERVICE FEE. MY CHEAP $100 GARMIN PROVIDES FREE LIFETIME MAP UPDATES AND I HAVE HAD TO USE IT TO ENSURE I REACH MY DESTINATION. TOYOTA HAS MISREPRESENTED THE VALUE OF THE USELESS GPS.

IMPROPER APPLICATION OF REAR VIEW MIRROR MOUNTING PLATE TO WINDSHIELD INCOMPLETE (PARTIAL COVERAGE) OF EPOXY ADHESIVE APPLICATION TO THE WINDSHIELD MOUNTING PLATE. THE BLACK PLASTIC COVER AND MIRROR HOLDER EXPANDS IN HIGH INTENSITY SUN. THE EXPANSION INCREASES CONCENTRATED TENSILE FORCES BETWEEN THE MOUNTING PLATE AND WINDSHIELD, CAUSING THE MOUNTING PLATE TO TEAR FROM THE WINDSHIELD. THE RESULT IS A SIGNIFICANT REMOVAL OF GLASS FROM THE PASSENGER CABIN SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, AND LOSS OF THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE WINDSHIELD. MIRRORS WITH INTEGRATED ELECTRONICS THEN SWING FROM THE ELECTRICAL WIRED, THE MIRROR OBSTRUCTING VISIBILITY, AND BECOMING A DETACHED HAZARD WITHIN THE PASSENGER CABIN. WE WERE AT THE DEALERS AND MENTIONED THAT OUR CAR HAD ONLY 2000 MILES AND SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. OUR CAR NOW HAS 7070MILES YES SEVEN THOUSAND MILES AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING FOR US. MY WIFE AND I ARE IN OUR 80'S AND THEY ARE ARE TAKEING ADVANTAGE OF US BECAUSE WE'RE OLD. THEY WANT US TO PAY FOR NEW WHEELS $750.. EACH.

VEHICLE NAVIGATION SYSTEM REBOOTS TO DEFAULT SETTINGS APPROX 1 - 3 TIMES A WEEK REQUIRING DRIVER ATTENTION TO RESET. UNIT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY DEALER WITH NEW UNIT. NEW UNIT HAS THE SAME REBOOT FREQUENCY. THIS REBOOT TYPICALLY OCCURS AFTER "NORMAL" START, THEN WHILE UNDERWAY FULL REBOOT ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO A MINUTE LATER, WHILE IN MOTION, ON THE ROAD. NO RECOLLECTION OF A REBOOT WHILE SITTING STILL ..(WARMING THE ENGINE WAITING FOR PASSENGER ETC) THIS REBOOT MAY OCCUR EITHER WITH OR WITHOUT A CELLPHONE PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STRAIGHT GOING THROUGH A GREEN LIGHT WHEN A VEHICLE TRAVELING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ATTEMPTED TO MAKE LEFT-HAND TURN AND STRUCK THE FRONT OF THE TOYOTA HIGHLANDER 2015. BOTH CARS WERE IN MOTION WHEN THE COLLISION OCCURRED. WHEN THE TOYOTA HIGHLANDER 2015 WAS BROUGHT TO THE BODY SHOP TO BE REPAIRED THE APPRAISER INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND THEY NEEDED TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR DEFECTS.

WAS ABLE TO BREAK IN HILL, WHICH PREVENTED ME FROM HITTING CAR PARKED PERPENDICULAR ON STREET BELOW. BOTTOM OF CAR SCRAPED CURB WHEN CAR JUMP CURB AND LURCHED FORWARD. BOTTOM FRONT BUMPER SCRAPED. THERE WAS AN ICY PATCH AT TOP OF PARKING SPACE. IT SEEMS LIKE WHEN WHEELS ROLLED ON TOP OF ICY PATCH, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD. CAR MIGHT HAVE ACCIDENTALLY BEEN ON CRUISE CONTROL AT THE TIME.
HAD A PROBLEM WITH A 13 MO. OLD HIGHLANDER(STILL UNDER WARRANTY). WAS BACKING INTO MY GARAGE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY BROKE(RUBBER PIECE FELL OFF). IT CAUSED MY FOOT TO SLIP OFF THE BRAKE AND CONSEQUENTLY BACKED INTO A REFRIGERATOR WE HAD IN THE GARAGE. IT RUINED THE REFRIGERATOR AND DAMAGED THE BACK OF THE HIGHLANDER($1000+) WORTH OF DAMAGE. FILED A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA(CORPORATE) AND COOPERATED FULLY WITH THEIR INVESTIGATION. AFTER 4 MOS. OF GETTING NOTHING BUT A RUN AROUND FROM TOYOTA FINALLY GOT THEIR ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS FINE(WHY THEN DID THE BRAKE PEDAL FALL APART?) AND THAT THEY DIDN'T CARE AT ALL ABOUT MY PROBLEM. THEY ALSO DIDN'T ANSWER WHY THE BRAKE PEDAL FELL APART IF 'ALL WAS FINE' AS THEY ASSERTED. KIND OF LIKE WHAT TOYOTA DID 6 OR 7 YEARS AGO WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PROBLEM FIRST SHOWED UP. BACK THEN THEIR FIRST REACTION WAS TO BLAME TH VICTIMS(OWNERS) FOR CAUSING THE PROBLEM!! I SUGGEST TO OTHERS TO NOT BUY A TOYOTA. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE SUBFRAME FRACTURED DUE TO THE REAR BOLTS ON THE FRAME BEING TOO TIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BOLTS WERE NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED FROM THE FACTORY ASSOCIATED WITH THE TORQUE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE SUBFRAME AND STATED THAT IT DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR HYBRID DRIVE MOTOR, REAR DIFFERENTIAL, THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM FROM THE MOTOR TO THE MUFFLER, AND THE DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE FURTHER INSPECTED AND REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO WAITED LONGER THAN TWO WEEKS FOR THE PARTS TO RECEIVE THE REPAIRS DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE FRAME. THE SECOND DEALER, A MANUFACTURER'S TECHNICIAN, FURTHER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CRACKED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CONTACT HAD THE OPTION OF RECEIVING A REPAIR OF THE FRAME BEING WELDED OR VARIOUS PARTS WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE SUBFRAME, WHICH WAS AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AS IF POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN. "EPS FAILURE, STEERING WHEEL HARDER TO TURN" WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH CLUSTER. WE PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON -- THE WARNING DISAPPEARED AND STEERING WAS NORMAL AGAIN. OUR HIGHLANDER WAS MANUFACTURED IN 3/15. MY VIN WAS NOT IN THE RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V144000. TOYOTA REPLACED THE STEERING COMPUTER UNDER WARRANTY, AT NO CHARGE. I'M WRITING TO SUGGEST THE EXTENT OF CONDITION NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES.
TAKATA RECALL-THIS PAST SUNDAY MY CAR HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE DRIVE WAY FOR A FEW DAYS AND WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR AND THERE WAS A STRANGE NOISE UNDER THE HOOD, I BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY AND WHEN THE CAR SHIFTED FROM FIRST TO SECOND IT JURKED AND WAS NOT SMOOTH SO I PARKED THE CAR. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND THERE WERE MOUSE DROPPING ON THE ENGINE. I CALLED TOYOTA ON MONDAY MORNING AND THEY SAID TO HAVE IT TOWED SO I DID MONDAY NIGHT. TODAY WEDNESDAY THEY CALLED AND SAID THERE WERE A LOT OF WIRE DAMAGE AND SOMETHING ELSE BUT THEY STILL NOT ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID AT THIS POINT IT WAS GOING TO BE $500 MAYBE MORE. AND NOT UNDER MANUFACTURERS DEFECT WARRANTY. WHICH I THINK IF THEY ARE GOING TO PUT SOMETHING IN THE WIRE CASING THAT RODENTS LOVE THEN THEY SHOULD CORRECT ANY PROBLEMS AS A RESULTS OF THE PRODUCT USED AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. MY CAR IS A $45,000 CAR AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT A FEW MONTHS. THIS IS BULL.
