Case number started at Toyota Customer service: 210701002045 Requested an unacceptable time to answer of 8 weeks. There was a recall for this vehicle. I wasnt notified and the recall also doesnt show in any website (Not Toyota not in the goverment one). I went on a trip thousands mile aways from home, I was up in the montains, the car got broken in a very bad place where I had to spend almost $2,000 dollars due to Towing, meal and hotel expenses (as the dealer was closed on a weekend). I am trying to solve this with Toyota but they say I have to wait 8 weeks to start looking at my case. It is unacceptable . I need a reimbursement ASAP.
The roof rails allow water to enter the vehicle along the A pillar where the side curtain airbags and connectors reside. Moisture was found inside the connectors, which will lead to corrosion over time and would cause a failure of the airbags to deploy.
Roof rack seals failed, allowing water in above the A-pillar, which damages the headliner and could damage electrical and side airbags, compromising safety. In talking with other 2019 Rav4 owners, many have experienced the same issue as the sealing mechanism is poorly designed.
My roof rack rail assembly is leaking water down my A and C pillars, and into the inside of my vehicle. When it leaks into my car it also leaks down into my side curtain airbags to the point if I were to get into an accident where the side curtain airbags needed to deploy because of my windshield, they would not which could cause me to lose my life. I have asked my dealership about it and they told me they had numerous roof racks replaced because of the leaking but because my vehicle is no longer under warranty, I have to pay to have the roof racks replaced. I have tried to reseal my roof racks but did not work. The Toyota dealership told me that if resealing didn't work, the only other option was to replace. I cannot drive in the rain, even when it is just sprinkling or wash my car because any sort of water will leak into my vehicle. Toyota will not send a recall out for this issue but is known to be a safety issue with the Toyota dealership and numerous people that own a 2019-2021 Toyota Rav4.
The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that she initially noticed that the headliner was stained and later realized that rainwater had leaked into the driver's and passenger's side front cabins from the roof rail. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the failure was caused by a previous windshield replacement. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
The sunroof exploded outward/upward. I was doing 75-80mph north bound on I-15 in Montana, south of mile marker 250. Suddenly there was a loud BOOM like a an explosion! (I was startled and almost lost control of the car.) When I reached Cascade, the nearest town, I checked and saw that the sunroof was bulged outward, with a large hole. See pictures. Condition: around 12:45pm. Outside - Cloudy, temp around 30 degree Farenheit with a dusting of snow. Inside cabin was set to 70 degrees. I do not know the elevation above sea level. I was not near any area that rocks could fall on the roof. The only other vehicle was about 1/4 to 1/2 mile behind me at the time of the incidence. The autobody shop guy checked for any signs of rocks or bullets or anything that could have caused it and he could not even guess at the cause, especially since the glass was bulging outward.
The 2019 Rav4 models have an issue with the roof rack rails leaking water into the A pillar as well as the C pillar due to a failure in the materials the manufacturer used. Not only does this cause issues with the headliner of the vehicles but this could also endanger the occupants of the entire vehicle due to the leak affecting the airbags located in the A and C pillars. This leak has a potential to affect electrica as well as the main safety component located in the locations stated above. Not addressing the issue could result in death due to airbag failures and could then lead to class action lawsuits.
Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, while driving on the interstate the vehicle began vibrating heavily. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Upon inspection it was noticed that the inner tread of the left rear tire was damaged, worn away and scalloped or cupped. The tire was replaced with a spare, and vehicle driven to the nearest Toyota dealer for service. The damaged tire is available for inspection. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the servicing dealer informed us that the left rear camber was out of manufacturer specification being -1.8 deg. The minimum allowed is -1.7, and the minimum recommended is -1.3. We were informed that to be safe the vehicle required repairs; however, they were unable. We then took the vehicle to the selling dealer who also found the issue and were unable to repair. Two additional service centers also confirmed the rear camber was out of specifications, and posed a safety risk. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, the dealer stated that a manufacturer representative from Toyota inspected the vehicle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Safety was compromised as the damage to the tire was severe and hidden. This damage could have resulted in a loss of control of the vehicle. The vehicle remains in the unsafe condition. It is also important to note that the tires were being rotated every 5,000 miles by a manufacturer service center as recommended.
The contact owns a 2019 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated that whenever it rained, water would enter the cabin of the vehicle. The contact was concerned that it might cause an electrical failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
THERE IS A WATER LEAK THAT HAPPENS IN THE A PILLAR OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A FAULTY GASKET ON THE ROOF RACK. WATER CAN LEAK INTO THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS WHICH CAN COMPROMISE THE SAFTEY OF THE VEHCILE. NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS ONLINE FROM OTHER OWNERS AS WELL. PLEASE GOOGLE RAV4 2019 ROOF LEAK. I NOTIVED THE LEAK AS I WAS DRIVING WHEN IT WAS RAINING, IT WAS LEAKING ON THE A PILLAR IN BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE.
ACCIDENTALLY TURNED ON LKA. AT FREEWAY SPEEDS UP TO 70MPH STEERING PULLED TO RIGHT. HAD TO KEEP TENSION ON STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP VEHICLE CENTERED IN LANE. THEN STEERING WOULD QUIT PULLING AND VEHICLE WOULD GO TO LEFT. HAD TO KEEP FIGHTING STEERING TO KEEP VEHICLE CENTERED IN LANE. LKA WARNING KEPT BEEPING. RESEARCHED PROBLEM ON LINE. LOOKED IN OWNERS MANUAL AND MADE SURE LKA WAS TURNED OFF. THIS WAS A BIG ANNOYANCE FOR ME BUT I WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR SOMEONE ELSE, THOUGH.
ON APRIL 5, 2021 AT 10:40AM ON A HIGHWAY GOING 50 MPH THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD BANG. LUCKILY WITHOUT CRASHING I PARKED ON THE SIDE AND SAW THAT THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED WITH THE APPEARANCE OF COMING FROM WITHIN. THE SHADE HAD BEEN CLOSED THEREFORE THE GLASS WAS PREVENTED FROM SCATTERING ON ME. I HAD TOYOTA CHULA VISTA, CA CHECK IT OUT AND THEY DECLINED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY. THE WEEK AFTERWARDS I SPOKE TO THE MANAGER OF TOYOTA IN YUMA, AZ WHERE I PURCHASED THE AUTOMOBILE WHO ALSO DECLINED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY AND RECOMMENDED TO MAKE A CLAIM WITH MY CAR INSURANCE. I HAVE LEARNED THAT IT IS COMMON FOR SUNROOFS TO EXPLODE IN THIS CAR. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SETTLED. PLEASE INFORM ME OF ANY FUTURE RECALLS. I WILL UPLOAD PHOTOS.
UNABLE TO FILL GAS TANK SO THAT THE GAUGE REFLECTS "FULL". TANK ONLY SHOWS ABOUT 7/8 OF A TANK.
UP TO MARCH 17, 2021 WHEN I WOULD DRIVE BY SIGN WITH A POSTED SPEED LIMIT THE CAR WOULD 'READ' THE SIGN AND DISPLAY THE SPEED ON DASH FOR APPROX. 30 SECONDS THEN THE SPEED LIMIT SIGN WOULD DISAPPEAR. ON MARCH 18, 2021 THINGS CHANGED' 'WHEN I GOT ON INTERSTATE -75 AND PASSED THE SIGN WITH THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT 70MPH THE DIGITAL SIGN ON THE DASHBOARD READ 75 MPH. (PHOTO A) 'A SECOND CHANGE WAS THE DISPLAY DID NOT VANISH AFTER 30 SECONDS BUT REMINED DISPLAYED. 'AS I PASSED SEVERAL OTHER 70MPH SIGNS THE DISPLAY IN THE CAR STILL READ 75MPH. I THEN CANCELLED RADAR TRACKING TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY AND IT DID NOT (PHOTO B). 'I THOUGHT MAYBE IF I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE 75MPH WOULD DISAPPEAR; IT DID NOT (PHOTO C) 'FINALLY, WHEN I PASSED A POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH THE DASHBOARD SPEED LIMIT UPDATED. (PHOTO D). MY GUESS AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON '. ON THE NIGHT OF MARCH 17, 2021 TOYOTA UPDATED THE SOFTWARE TO ALL CARS, SO THE DASHBOARD SPEED LIMIT SIGN WOULD NOT DISAPPEAR. INADVERTENTLY, TOYOTA SOMEHOW MADE A 2ND UNINTENTIONALLY CHANGE SO THE WHEN THE CAR'S COMPUTER SEES A 70MPH SIGN IT READS IT AS 75MPH.
CAR STALLS WHEN ACCELIATOR IS DEPRESSED WHILE GOING FOWARD BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP
STILL WAITING FOR TOYOTA TO REMEDY A RECALL ISSUED OCT 28 2020. THEY SAY THERE IS NO FIX YET. THIS HAS BEEN TOO LONG TO DRIVE WITH THE RISK OF MY VEHICLE STALLING AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE MONTHS AGO AND THE RECALL HAS YET TO BE SATISFIED ALL THE WHILE MY TODDLER GRANDCHILD IS IN THIS VEHICLE REGULARLY. MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE SAFETY OF A VEHICLE THAT MAY STILL AT HWY SPEEDS AND RESULT IN A CRASH
AFTER PERIODS OF RAIN, SNOWMELTING ON THE CAR, OR GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH, WATER ENTERS VIA THE ROOF RACK AREA,POTENTIALLY EXPOSING THE AIRBAGS TO WATER. THE WATER CAUSED STAINING ON THE HEADLINER ALL OVER (A. B, C PILLARS). THE CURTAIN AIRBAGS FOR THE FRONT AND BACK SEAT WERE IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE AREA SATURATED BY WATER. I TOOKTHE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT, AND THEY REPLACED THE HEADLINER AND ROOF RACK HARDWARE AFTER CONFIRMING THERE WAS A LEAK (3/4/21). AFTER THE REPAIR WAS DONE, A FEW WEEKS PASSED WHERE THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO RAIN TO VERIFY THE LEAKWAS ACTUALLY FIXED. YESTERDAY, (3/26/21) IT RAINED. I WENT TO INSPECT THE HEADLINER, AND THE PASSENGER CURTAIN AIRBAG ON THE A PILLARWAS SURROUNDED BY WETNESS. THIS POSES A RISK TO THE INTEGRITY OF THE AIRBAGS. PLEASE NOTE, NO MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE TO THE CAR- THE ROOF RACKS ARE THE OEM TOYOTA LOW PROFILE (FACTORY INSTALLED). THIS OCCURS (FROM WHAT I CAN TELL) WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY. IN THIS CASE, MY DRIVEWAY.
AFTER RECEIVING THE RAV4HYBRID FUEL TANK FIX FROM TOYOTA IN MARCH OF 2021, MY VEHICLE STILL ONLY HAS A FUEL CAPACITY OF 12.5 GALS. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THIS IS BY DESIGN TO ALLOW ROOM FOR SPLASH BACK. 12.5GALS DOES NOT ALLOW FOR THE TOYOTA ADVERTISED RANGE OF 550MILES PER TANK. I AM GETTING ~470MILES PER TANK, 80 MILES SHORT OF THE TOYOTA ADVERTISED. THE FIX FROM TOYOTA TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK AND ASCENDING UNIT HAD NO CHANGE TO MY FUEL GAUGE READING, DISTANCE TO EMPTY OR FUEL FILLING CAPACITY. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK IN AGAIN, THE INFORMED ME I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO PUT MORE THEN 12.5 GALS OF FUEL IN MY VEHICLE AND WILL ONLY GET ~470MILES PER TANK; THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE AN ANSWER TO THE CONTRADICTION OF WHAT THEY WERE ADVERTISING THE RANGE OF MY VEHICLE SHOWN AT 550MILES PER THE TOYOTA DOCUMENTATION. PICTURE SHOW IS AFTER FILLING THE TANK. 466 MILES TILL EMPTY AND AVG OF 38.3 MPG. IF I HAD 12.5 GALS AND AVG OF 38.5 THAT WOULD BE 478.75MILE TILL EMPTY. AT 14.5 GALS, THE TOYOTA ADVERTISED AND 38.5 AVG MPG IT WOULD BE 555.35MILES TILL EMPTY. THE ONLY WAY 12.5 GALS GETS TO THE ADVERTISED RANGE OF 550MILE ON ONE TANK IS IF THE VEHICLE EXCEDED THE TOYOTA ADVERTISE MPG OF 41 CITY / 38 HIGHWAY. IT WOULD REQUIRE AND AVERAGE MPG OF 44MPG
ROOF RAILS LEAKING WATER INTO CAR. HEADLINERS NEAR THE A PILLAR ARE WET AND WATER LEAKING DOWN THE A PILLAR AND ONTO CARPET IN INTERIOR. A PILLAR HAS AIRBAGS THAT MAY NOW BE EXPOSED TO WATER. ANYTIME IT RAINS IN GA WATER GETS IN THE CAR.
CAR LOST POWER TWICE, GOING UP A STEEP GRADE. 'HYBRID SYSTEM MALFUNCTION' WARNING CAME ON THE SCREEN, GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I WAS UNABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR, BOTH TIMES ON THE INTERSTATE. DRIVING UP A STEEP MOUNTAIN, ABOUT 50F WEATHER.
FUEL TANK DOES NOT FILL UP ALL THE WAY. MISSING ABOUT 3 GALLONS.
HAD AN ALIGNMENT PERFORMED AT TIRE DISCOUNTERS. AFTERWARDS THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE FRONT RIGHT CAMBER WAS OUT OF SPECS. THEY ATTEMPTED TO BRING SPECS WITHIN OEM BUT UNABLE TO. REQUIRED TO PURCHASE CAMBER KIT FROM TOYOTA TO PERFORM NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 14,000 MILES.
SECOND TIME IN COLD WEATHER, LOSS OF POWER ON INTERSTATE ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT. ALL LIGHTS ON DASH FLASHING AND FLASHING THROUGH SEVERAL CODES. FULL TANK OF GAS BOTH TIMES, WITH HEAT IN GAS TANK. ENGINE RUMBLING AND RUNNING ON 2WD, VERY WEEK POWER BOTH TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF PORTLAND (55 NE BROADWAY, PORTLAND, OR 97232) AND REMAINED THERE FOR TWO MONTHS WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
UNABLE TO FILL TANK TO PROPER AMOUNT STATED IN THE MANUAL. PUMP CLICKS OFF PRIOR TO THE TANK FILLING BUT IT SAYS IT IS FULL. MILEAGE TO EMPTY IS LESS THAN STATED WHEN PURCHASED. RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE DRIVING! THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND TOYOTA IS GIVING RUN AROUND TRYING TO GET IT FIXED. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT.
COMPLAINT NUMBER 11282036, WHERE IS IT ON THE WEBSITE? THIS WAS MY COMPLAINT CONTACT ME TO LET ME KNOW, WHY IT IS NOT ON THE WEBSITE
FUEL TANK WILL NOT FILL COMPLETELY. WHEN FUELING, THE PUMP CONSISTENTLY SHUTS OFF BEFORE TANK INDICATOR REACHES "FULL". TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO FIX MY VEHICLE DESPITE THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM NOTIFICATION WHICH IS CURRENTLY OCCURRING. I VISITED MY DEALER WHO WAS ABLE TO FILL THE TANK BY REPEATEDLY ADDING SMALL AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE EACH TIME THE FUEL PUMP SHUT OFF. NEW JERSEY, WHERE I RESIDE, DOES NOT ALLOW FOR SELF-SERVICE FILLING AND IT IS NOT PRACTICAL, NOR SAFE, TO FILL THE VEHICLE IN THIS MANNER. TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE SHAPE OF THE FUEL TANK AND/OR THE FUEL SENDER GAUGE. GIVEN TOYOTA'S UNWILLINGNESS TO ADDRESS THIS KNOWN ISSUE, AND THE HAZARDOUS SITUATION CREATED BY REPEATEDLY RESTARTING THE FUEL PUMP AFTER EACH SHUT-OFF IN ORDER TO REACH "FULL" ON THE TANK, TOYOTA SHOULD BE MANDATED TO INITIATE A RECALL OF ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES, WHERE "AFFECTED" INCLUDES ALL VEHICLES THAT FAIL TO FILL THE TANK AFTER THE INITIAL SHUT-OFF OF THE FUEL PUMP.
VEHICLE SHAKES WHEN IDLING, SHAKING INCREASES OVERTIME. MECHANIC VERIFIED EGR MALFUNCTION ALONG WITH DIAGNOSTIC COINCIDING WITH PROBLEM.
GAS TANK WILL NOT FILL UP IN THE HYBRID MODEL. IT STOPS AT AROUND 8 GALLONS, LEAVING ALMOST 1/4 TANK CAPACITY. THIS HAS BEEN THE SITUATION SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE DEALER IS AWARE AND VERIFIED THE ISSUE
MY VEHICLE HAS AN OUTSTANDING RECALL FOR A WHILE NOW. I AM WAITING FOR THE ISSUE TO GET RESOLVE. I LIMITED MY DRIVING LOCALLY EXCEPT FOR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND OUT OF TOWN EMERGENCY. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS NEXT. I JUST CAN'T KEEP RESTRICTING MYSELF OF FEAR OF VEHICLE MALFUNCTION. PLEASE ADVISE
I began experiencing intermittent rear liftgate sensor issues on my 2019 Toyota RAV4 in late 2020. The power hatch would stop halfway while opening. On 3/24/2021, while the vehicle was under factory warranty, I brought it to a Toyota dealer for inspection. The dealer stated the issue could not be replicated and advised me to manually push the hatch upward. No repair was made. Over time, the condition worsened. The liftgate began intermittently stopping halfway while closing, using both the key fob and the interior dash button. In 2022, a rattling noise developed in the rear of the vehicle, later determined to be associated with progressive liftgate structural failure. By 2024, the rear liftgate became unsafe and largely inoperable. The hatch shifted significantly to the left, leaving an abnormally large gap at the top and driver’s side. I stopped using the liftgate due to concern it could fail unexpectedly or not close properly. I contacted Toyota Engagement Services multiple times, explaining that this issue is widely reported among 2019 RAV4 owners and presents a safety concern. On 11/18/2025, the vehicle was inspected at Crabtree Toyota. The inspection confirmed rear liftgate hinge failure. The dealer provided video documentation and a written repair estimate. The health inspection also noted a separated and broken passenger-side rear hatch pulse sensor requiring replacement. Toyota closed my case without repairing the defect. Toyota offered a “good faith” credit of approximately 75% of the repair cost that cannot be applied to the liftgate structural or sensor repair and is only usable for unrelated future service. This appears to be a known, progressive defect involving rear liftgate hinges and related sensors on 2019 Toyota RAV4 vehicles. The condition presents a safety risk, as the liftgate may fail to stay open, close unexpectedly, or malfunction electronically. My VIN has been provided. Photos, video, and repair documentation are available upon requ

Steering suddenly locked up. Car steered to the right went off the road. Turned over several times and landed upside down. Causing serious injuries to myself and the driver. I was in hospital 3 weeks total with broken ribs , broken vertabrae and dislocated shoulder. Cuts on feet from the glass. Driver had cuts on head and dislocated shoulder. Prior to accident, I had reported (twice) to dealer that steering wheel felt loose. The second time, I had him write it down on report when I came in for oil change. So I have proof that I reported it. They checked steering and said they couldn't find anything wrong; but the problem was it didn't do it all the time. Sometimes it would take quite a few seconds before it would react if I would turn it a little left or right. Eventually, it did lock up and caused the horrible accident. The accident occured on November 26, 2020. I typed that date, but somehow this report changed it to Aug 6 and I can't seem to change it.
MY VEHICLE IS STALLING WHEN AT LOW SPEED AND SOMETIMES HIGH SPEED. IT FAILS TO ACCELERATE. EVERY TIME I CONTACT MY SERVICE PROVIDER THEY PUSH BACK MY SERVICE ANOTHER MONTH.
I AM UNABLE TO LOCK THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR. INTERNAL CONTROLS, REMOTE CONTROLS, AND THE MANUAL KEY FAIL. IT WILL OPEN AND CLOSE (LATCH), BUT CAN BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE, WHETHER PARKED OR RUNNING. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE WHEN IN MOTION. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LOCK, THE MECHANICAL INDICATOR BY THE DOOR HANDLE MOVES FROM UNLOCKED TO LOCKED TO UNLOCKED TO LOCKED RAPIDLY AND WITH A HARSH RATTLE NOISE.

The contact owned a 2019 Toyota Rav4 XLE. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive lane assist efforts. The contact stated while driving at various speeds near a right turning lane, the lane assist engaged erroneously, causing the vehicle to jolt and pull towards the right turning lane. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the contact was informed that the lane assist was operating as designed. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH with cruise control mode a rainstorm suddenly started. The contact stated he disengaged the adaptive cruise control mode and allowed the vehicle to decelerate. The contact stated that the vehicle jolted to the right. The contact stated while attempting to correct the steering wheel, the vehicle hydroplaned. The vehicle veered off the road at 50-60 MPH and hit several trees, was stuck in the trees, and became crushed. The air bags deployed. The driver's side windshield was shattered. The contact was able to push the door open and to climb out of the vehicle. The contact also received assistance from bystanders. The ambulance examined the contact but was not immediately transported to the hospital due to cost. The contact later went to the hospital where he underwent a brain scan, but no brain damage was found. The contact sustained nerve damage in left arm, injured leg, left arm twitching, head trauma, back, neck, and heart injury. The contact also sustained significant PSTD. The contact stated that a branch that pierced the engine was initially pointing toward the driver's side cabin. A police report was filed but the contact was irate and could not provide the information over the phone. The vehicle was towed and totaled. The manufacturer was notified of the incident, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 11,386.
