2005 TOYOTA SIENNA POWER SLIDING DOOR PROBLEM - IN THE SPAN OF LESS THAN A YEAR BOTH CABLES SNAPPED. 2ND OWNER, FIRST OWNER TRAVELING BUSINESSMAN, SO MILEAGE IS HIGH (108K) BUT SLIDING DOORS WERE SELDOM USED UNTIL MAY 2009. DOORS ARE NOW QUITE DANGEROUS AS THEY SOMETIMES DON'T LOCK OPEN. 11 YEAR OLD OFTEN CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR MANUALLY HIMSELF BECAUSE HANDLES ARE FUSSY. 4 YEAR OLD COULD EASILY BE PINNED BETWEEN DOOR AND FRAME. GREAT CONCEPT BUT POOR DESIGN MAKES AN EXPENSIVE FEATURE DANGEROUS AND WORTHLESS. *TR
POWER STEERING HAS BECOME VERY STIFF/STICKY. THE STIFFNESS IS NOT STEADY THROUGHOUT A TURN, HOWEVER. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THIS - IT JUST GOT STEADILY MORE AND MORE STIFF OVER TIME. ABOUT 2,000 MILES AGO, TOYOTA CHECKED IT ONCE, INJECTED SOMETHING INTO THE STEERING APPARATUS (I WAS TOLD) BUT NOW IT IS BACK AND, IN FACT, MORE STIFF THAN EVER. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 93,000.
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AND THE VAN HAS ELECTRONIC DOORS AND THAT I HAVE READ IN THE WEB THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT TOYOTA IS IGNORING IT. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE AND TOYOTA CORP. DOES NOT CARE. THE SLIDING DOOR ALMOST SMASHED MY DAUGHTER. I TOOK IT TO ANTIOCH TOYOTA AND THEY JUST GREASED THE DOORS TRYING TO AVOID THE REPAIRS. THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET BADLY INJURED BEFORE THEY FIX ANYTHING. YOU CAN GOOGLE IT AND YOU WILL FIND SAME COMPLAIN FROM HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE TOYOTA DON'T CARE. ITS UNSAFE I EVEN HAVE A EXTENDED WARRANTY AND STILL WONT FIX IT! THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T JUST SIT AND LET TOYOTA GET AWAY WITH THIS AND HAVE MORE PEOPLE BE INJURED AND NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! I OWN A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AND MY PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN ELECTRONICALLY OR MANUALLY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I CARPOOL AND HAVE TO LET THE CHILDREN OUT ON THE STREET SIDE. IF THERE IS A FIRE THE DOOR IS NOT OPERABLE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, SO THEY WANT TO START CHANGING PARTS UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT WHEN MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND MY VAN LURCHED FORWARD INTO A TREE. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE TO ME IN THIS, OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE. AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH, MY CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SCENE. I FILED A POLICE REPORT, AS WELL AS A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE CARRIER. I HAVE SINCE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA, BUT HAVE NOT YET HEARD FROM THE INSPECTOR ASSIGNED TO MY CASE. CURRENTLY, THE VAN IS AT A BODY SHOP AWAITING INSPECTION BY THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE IS DONE. *TR

MIDDLE ROW PASSENGER SIDE SHOULDER STRAP DOES NOT RETRACT; PROBLEM IS RECURRENT. LAP BELT WORKS PROPERLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE METAL ON THE TOP OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS BROKEN AND THE HINGE WAS NOT PROPERLY ATTACHED TO THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE WINDOW WOULD OPEN AND CLOSE; HOWEVER, THE DOOR WAS DIFFICULT TO OPEN AND CLOSE. THE CONTACT CALLED AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD PAY 60 PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
POWER SLIDING DOOR ON 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA . *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS LOOSE AND IT WOULD SWING OUT. BECAUSE OF THE DOOR, THE WINDOW WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AT A REPAIR SHOP AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WELDS IN A PANEL WERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AS THERE WAS NOTHING TO CATCH THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 55K MILES. I BOUGHT NEW AND HAVE HAD ALL SERVICE COMPLETED AT THE TOYOTA DEALER. AT APX 50K MILES THE SLIDING DOOR CABLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER PASSENGER DOOR STARTED TO FRAY AND MAKE A CRACKLING NOISE AS IT OPENS AND CLOSES. AFTER DOING MY INTERNET RESEARCH AND READING MANY HORROR STORIES ABOUT THE DOOR NOT OPENING, FALLING OFF ITS TRACKS AND POTENTIALLY TRAPPING CHILDREN INSIDE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER ON 4/16/2010 FOR REPAIR AND ITS 55K SERVICE. THE DEALER DECLARED THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY OR RECALL NOTICE AND THAT THE ESTIMATE TO REPAIR WAS $2028. THERE ARE TWO SLIDING DOORS SO THIS WOULD COST OVER $4000 TO REPAIR ONCE THE SECOND ONE GOES OUT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW IN THAT SUCH A HIGH USE ITEM ON THE VEHICLE HAS WORN OUT AFTER ONLY 55,000 MILES. IF THIS WAS DESIGNED AS SOMETHING THAT WAS EXPECTED TO WEAR OUT, LIKE TIRES, BRAKES AND OIL, WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT AND EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. PLEASE RESEARCH AND ADVISE. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR STICKS AND WILL NOT CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY. WE HAVE TO MANUALLY HELP IT ALONG THE WAY. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY WOULDN'T REPAIR IT BECAUSE THEY SAID BECAUSE IT WAS A HINGE PROBLEM, WHICH IS NOT COVERED IN THE WARRANTY. THE DOOR ONLY OPENS AND CLOSES NOW WHEN I MANUALLY HELP IT ALONG THE WAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT FROM THE PRETENSIONER, CAUSING THE SEAT BELT TO BECOME TANGLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UTILIZE THE SEAT BELT DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO UNTANGLE THE SEAT BELT. I HAVE AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE WITH THE ANTI-SKID. ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH I WILL BE TURNING WITHOUT ANY BRAKES ON AND THE ANTI-SKID LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR BEHAVES LIKE IT IS TRYING TO COMPENSATE FOR A SKID. *TR
2005 - TOYOTA SIENNA ' DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION, APPROXIMATELY 7/8 OF THE WAY OPEN. THE ISSUE OCCURRED WHEN MY WIFE PRESSED THE AUTOMATIC CLOSE BUTTON WHEN THE DOOR WAS IN THE FULL OPEN POSITION. IT BEGAN TO CLOSE BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF INCHES IT STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP OFFERED NO SOLUTIONS VIA PHONE AND REQUESTED THAT WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT A SHORT DISTANCE, CAUTIOUSLY, TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE DOOR. THE AAA TOW TRUCK OPERATOR REFUSED TO TOW IT TO TOYOTA DUE TO LIABILITY WITH THE DOOR BEING 7/8 OPEN AND STUCK. TOYOTA OF DARTMOUTH SENT THEIR CONTRACTED TOWING AGENT TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. TOYOTA OF DARTMOUTH DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, AFTER SEVERAL HOURS, AS THE DOOR MOTOR HAD THE DOOR CABLE WRAPPED AROUND THE GEARS. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I AM UNSURE WHY IT TOOK TOYOTA OF DARTMOUTH SO LONG TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND WHY THEY COULD NOT SPEAK TO IT OVER THE PHONE OR AT LEAST INSTRUCT ME TO CUT THE CABLE IN ORDER TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED AND THEREFORE BE ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE. TWO OPTIONS WERE PRESENTED - $1700 FOR REPLACEMENT OR $195 TO CUT THE CABLE AND PUT THE DOOR BACK TOGETHER. UNACCEPTABLE!! ESPECIALLY AFTER 60K MILES AND WE JUST BEGAN USING THAT DOOR TWO YEARS AGO WHEN WE HAD A SECOND CHILD. *TR
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA HAD CRUISE CONTROL ON. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO 'SHAKE' AND THE SPEEDOMETER CLIMBED TO 80 MPH THEN DOWN TO 60 MPH. IT DIDN'T SEEM TO ACTUALLY BE ACCELERATING--IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS FIGHTING TO NOT LOSE POWER. I DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL BY TOUCHING THE BREAKS. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY, TURNED THE MOTOR OFF, WAITED AND STARTED AGAIN AT A SLOWER SPEED WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. AFTER A WHILE THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEGAN TO 'BUCK AND SHAKE', THE SPEEDOMETER RACED TO 80 MPH (THOUGH THE CAR ITSELF) DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE RAPID ACCELERATION) THEN THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 50 MPH. OVER THE PHONE MY HUSBAND ADVISED I TURN ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AND TURN IT OFF AGAIN. I DID AND DROVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES HOME AT SPEEDS FROM 55-65 WITHOUT ANOTHER INCIDENT. I WILL TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO CHECK OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 100,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ENTIRE DOOR LATCH SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,360.
2005 SIENNA LE. DRIVERS SIDE DOOR "DOOR CHECK" DAMAGED - DIAGNOSIS BY DEALER. DAMAGE DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR ON POORLY DESIGNED/MANUFACTURED COMPONENT . INFORMED BY DEALER A "PARTIAL RECALL" EXISTS ON THE PROBLEM. CAN FIND NO RECORD OF SUCH RECALL. INFORMED THAT DUE TO CURRENT MILEAGE (110K), WOULD NOT QUALIFY FOR DEALER PROVIDED REPAIR. BODY SHOP QUOTED $271 TO FIX AND STATED HAS BEEN MAKING THESE REPAIRS FOR "SEVERAL YEARS." SYMPTOMS: LOUD POPPING WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING (APPROX 18 MONTHS), FOLLOWED BY DOOR NOT OPENING FULLY AND FAILURE OF WINDOW TO ROLL DOWN COMPLETELY. DOOR LOCK SOMETIMES DOES NOT WORK (ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO). DEALER CLAIMS FIXING DOOR CHECK WILL CORRECT LOCK AND WINDOW PROBLEMS. BODY SHOP SKEPTICAL OF THIS CLAIM. *TR

LESS THAN A YEAR AGO MY POWER STEERING BECAME STIFF. CHANGED PUMP AS IT SEEMED TO BURN OUT AT 40,000 MILES ALSO CHANGED BELTS. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE STIFFNESS IS BACK AND THE PUMP AND BELTS ARE FINE. STARTING A 33,000 MILES AND 3 YEARS I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE SLIDING DOOR MOTOR, STRUTS ON BACK DOOR, STEERING PUMP,MIDDLE SEAT BELTS ALONG WITH OTHER THINGS. I FIND THAT THIS VAN IS NOT BUILT FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND TOYOTA DOES NOTHING ABOUT THIS. I AM SEEING THAT A LOT OF THEIR SIENNA SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A 2005 SIENNA WITH 52,000 MILES. *TR

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE CALL ME ASAP. MY TOYOTA SIENNA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED LAST WEEK IN DES MOINES, IA. TOYOTA IS SAYING THAT SIENNA'S ARE NOT UNDER RECALL. I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY HUSBAND AND TWO CHILDREN. THE BRAKES COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, NOR DID SHIFTING IT INTO NEUTRAL, PARK, OR REVERSE. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED WAS PULLING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AT ABOUT 75 MILES PER HOUR. THE TOYOTA SIENNA IS A TIME BOMB. THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OF MY SIENNA HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST TWO OTHER TIMES. TOYOTA IS CLAIMING THAT THE FLOOR MATS CAUSED IT, BUT MY HUSBAND AND I CHECKED THE FLOOR MATS, THEY WERE NOT THE PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE STEERING ROD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING ROD WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND OPENED A CASE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
OUR 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA TOOK OFF ON US IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. MOVING MY FOOT TO THE BRAKE AND MY HUSBAND SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL WAS THE FIRST THING WE TRIED, WE ALSO TRIED PARK AND REVERSE, AND TURNING OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL, NONE OF WHICH WORKED. THE TOYOTA SIENNA DEATH TRAP CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS JAMMED ON THE BRAKE (I DIDN'T REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE FOR ANOTHER 2 1/2 HRS UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK PULLED IN FRONT OF US. BY THE WAY, WHEN YOUR VEHICLE IS SUDDENLY TRAVELING MUCH, MUCH FASTER THAN ANYONE ELSE'S VEHICLE ON THE ROAD, IT'S ALL YOU CAN DO TO NOT HIT SOMEONE. BELIEVE ME, I WAS SUDDENLY SWERVING IN AND OUT OF THE LANES AND CUTTING EVERYONE OFF. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED OUR TOYOTA DEATH TRAP WAS PULLING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, CERTAINLY NOT IDEAL IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. WHILE THIS WAS GOING ON, OUR SON WAS IN THE BACKSEAT CALLING 911, WHILE OUR DAUGHTER CRIED. WE DON'T HAVE A LAWYER AND TOYOTA WON'T FIX OUR VAN. WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT? *TR
THE BOLT ON MY SLIDING DOOR (NOT A POWER DOOR) BROKE. THE VEHICLE IS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN. THE FRONT DOOR HAS BEEN REPLACED ALREADY DO A DEFECT WITH THE HINGES. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR SIENNA VAN'S SLIDING DOOR. HOWEVER, THE DEALER TELLS US "IT'S JUST WEAR AND TEAR" AND THAT WE MUST PAY $1500. TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THE DOOR IS CLOSED NOW BUT IS TOTALLY INOPERABLE NOW BECAUSE IF YOU OPEN IT YOU CANNOT GET IT TO CLOSE. *TR
SLIDING DOOR CABLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS TORN AND TANGLED. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.

OUR 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN HAS 82,000 MILES YET THE FRONT DRIVER DOOR HAS STOPPED CATCHING WHEN OPENED. IT FLINGS ALL THE WAY OPEN, HITTING THE CAR, WALL, POST OR WHATEVER WE PARK NEXT TO, NOT TO MENTION CATCHING MY CHILDREN'S FINGERS BETWEEN THE DOOR AND OTHER OBJECT. THE PROBLEM ORIGINATED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR STARTED TO MAKE A VERY LOUD CLUNKING SOUND WHEN OPENED AND CLOSED. NOW THE SOUND HAS STOPPED BUT THE DOOR NO LONGER CATCHES TO PREVENT IT FROM SLAMMING CLOSED OR OPEN. I FEAR MY CHILDREN'S HANDS WILL INADVERTENTLY GET CAUGHT AND POSSIBLY BROKEN. *JS
WE OWN A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA THAT HAS HAD AN ONGOING SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2005. THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE WHEN TURNING THE CAR AT LOWER SPEEDS. THE MEMBERS ON THESE SITES HAVE COMPLAINED TO TOYOTA FOR YEARS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR "REPROGRAMMING" BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE SITUATION. *TR

I RECEIVED MY 1ST RECALL NOTICE (10V-160) IN 2010 AND THE CURRENT RECALL EOS (E1S 14V273) ARRIVED IN MAY/2014. IT IS NOW MARCH/2015 AND STILL TOYOTA IS WORKING ON A SOLUTION. THIS IS A JOKE AND CLEARLY MALFEASANCE ON THEIR PART. FIVE YEARS OF ALLOWING A VERY POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEM TO GO UNCORRECTED SEEMS ALMOST CRIMINAL TO ME. CANNOT THE AUTHORITIES APPLY SOME PRESSURE ON TOYOTA OR WILL IT TAKE DEATHS AND LAWSUITS TO MOVE A FIX ALONG. *TR
BRAKE FAILURE IN A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. I SEE OTHER REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM IN SIENNAS BASED ON AN ON-LINE GOOGLE SEARCH. THE PROBLEM, IN MY CASE, IS INTERMITTENT. BRAKE FAILURE HAS HAPPENED TWO TIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT INTERSECTIONS. ONCE TO MY WIFE AND ONCE TO ME. THE PEDAL DOES NOT GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR, BUT PRESSING HARD ON THE PEDAL IS INEFFECTIVE TO STOP THE CAR IN A NORMAL DISTANCE. THE ABS SYSTEM DOES NOT ENGAGE DESPITE THE AMOUNT OF STRONG FORCE ON THE PEDAL THAT I EXERTED. THE CAR EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP, BUT IT FEELS AS THOUGH THERE IS NO VACUUM ASSIST. PUMPING THE BRAKE DID NOT HELP. THE PAVEMENT WAS NOT SLICK. THE BRAKES APPEAR TO WORK NORMALLY AT OTHER TIMES. *TR
THE SHOULDER PORTION OF DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS BINDS IN TOP BEZEL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE BELTS DO NOT PROPERLY RESTRAIN THE DRIVER AND/OR FRONT SEAT PASSENGER INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY IN AN ACCIDENT. JAMS HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CLEAR THEM WITH MANUAL MANIPULATION OF STRAP WEBBING AT THE BEZEL. HOWEVER, REPAIR IS REQUIRED TO ASSURE CONTINUED SAFE OPERATION. *TR

FRONT PASSENGER SIDE LATCHING DEVICE (FEMALE UNIT) FOR SEAT BELT STOPPED LATCHING. DEALERSHIP REPLACED AT OUT OF POCKET COST TO VEHICLE OWNER. IN OVER 50 YEARS OF DRIVING NUMEROUS CARS AND TRUCKS, I HAVE NEVER HAD A SEAT BELT THAT WOULD NOT LATCH..NO MATTER HOW OLD THE VEHICLE. THE SURGE WAS MOMENTARILY, BUT HAD THERE BEEN ANYTHING CLOSE, I WOULD HAVE HIT IT. I DROVE IMMED TO BELL TOYOTA, PHOENIX, AZ AND WAS TURNED AWAY AT THE SERVICE DEPT (IT IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO) THEY SUGGESTED I CALL TOYOTA. I CALLED TOYOTA, THEY SUGGESTED I GO TO A DEALERSHIP. I EMAILED TOYOTA CORP. THEY SUGGESTED I GO TO A DEALERSHIP. BELL RD TOYOTA OFFERED TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK FOR A $108.00 FEE. REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK AND JAM RANDOMLY, CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY RESULTING IN PEOPLE BEING LOCKED IN THE VAN AND STUCK. *TR

IN ORDER TO OPERATE THE DOORS, THE CONTACT HAD TO SEVER THE CABLES THAT POWERED THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SERVICED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,609.
THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM ON MY VAN IS MALFUNCTIONING AND IT PUTS THE VEHICLE IN "FAIL SAFE" MODE. THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AS WELL AS TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOT WANT TO INVESTIGATE THIS RECURRING PROBLEM FOR THE DTC P0121. THE DEALERS DO NOT ANALYZE THE FREEZE FRAME DATA OR INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM BEYOND READING THE CODE FROM OBD II SCANNER. I HAD ASKED THEM FOR THE ELECTRICAL VALUES FOR THE THROTTLE VALVE MOTOR AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED THAT INFORMATION AND WANT ME TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY BY SPENDING $1200.00. THE FIRST TIME THIS PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 50,000 MILES AND I REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY FROM SAME YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE WITH 20,000 MILES. NOW AFTER 10,000 MILES SAME PROBLEM HAS STARTED AGAIN AND THE DEALER AS WELL AS TOYOTA WANT ME TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. I FEEL THAT THE THROTTLE BODY OR THE GAS PEDAL IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE CAUSING THE DTC CODE AND MERELY REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY SECOND TIME WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS THE NEWER THROTTLE BODIES ARE WITHOUT THE PROBLEM ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODIES HAD. IN THAT CASE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE PROBLEM IS INVESTIGATED AND IDENTIFIED BEFORE ANY PARTS ARE REPLACED. I ALSO OFFERED TOYOTA THE ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODY FROM THE VEHICLE FOR TESTING / CHECKING FOR THE PROBLEM BUT THEY REFUSED MY OFFER. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF DRIVEBILITY DUE TO THE ACTIVATION OF "FAIL SAFE" MODE IS DANGEROUS AND COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENT AND / OR FATALITY. ANY HELP IN THIS MATTER WILL BE APPRECIATED. *TR
THE WELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HAS COME LOOSE. IT IS THE WELD THAT HOLDS THE BRACKET WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE HINGE WHICH CONTROLS THE DOOR STOPPING AT CERTAIN INTERVALS WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH RESPECT TO OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR ALONG STREETS AS WELL AS AN ISSUE IN THE WIND. THE DOOR COULD BE DAMAGED ALONG WITH INJURY TO THE DRIVER. THE DOOR STILL OPENS AND CLOSES , BUT POPS LOUDLY WHEN USING IT. THERE ARE MANY POSTS CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. SEEMS TOYOTA HAS IGNORED IT OVER THE YEARS. *TR
DRIVER SEAT BELT IS CONSTANTLY GETTING "STUCK". IT WON'T MOVE OR RELEASE AS IT SHOULD. *TR
DRIVER SIDE, REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL ONLY OPEN A 6-8 INCHES. IT IS NOT A POWER DOOR. SEEMS TO BE LINKED TO THE CABLE MECHANISM THAT DISABLES DOOR IF GAS CAP DOOR IS LEFT OPEN. HAVE MADE SURE GAS TANK DOOR IS SHUT PROPERLY, CHILD PROOF DOOR SAFETY IS NOT INTERFERING AND WINDOW IS ALL THE WAY UP AS WELL AS VARIOUS OTHER SUGGESTIONS WITH NO RESULTS. DOOR IS STILL ONLY OPENING 6-8 INCHES. SEEING AS HOW THE OTHER PASSENGER DOOR IS A POWER DOOR, I AM WORRIED THAT IF EGRESS FROM THE VEHICLE IS NECESSARY FROM THIS DOOR WHICH WILL NOT OPEN, MY PASSENGER(S) OR CHILDREN COULD BE INJURED OR KILLED IF THEY CANNOT ESCAPE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN A MEANS OF ESCAPE ON A VEHICLE IS BLOCKED, IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. NUMEROUS PEOPLE ON DIFFERENT WEBSITES AND BLOGS I HAVE BEEN ON HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THESE MALFUNCTIONING DOORS TO TOYOTA AND THE NHTSA AND ALL, SADLY, SAY THAT THEY ARE BEING IGNORED OR HAVE RECEIVED NO HELPFUL INFORMATION. IN LIEU OF TOYOTAS RECENT PROBLEMS AND RECALLS, IT WOULD SEEM SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE (HELLO NHTSA?) WOULD ADDRESS THIS AND GET A RECALL DONE IN QUICK FASHION. OR DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FIRST? THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
I AM REPORTING WHAT I BELIEVE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR. THE FIRST TWO YEARS I HAD THE VEHICLE THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS BUT STARTING TWO YEARS AGO, WHEN IT SNOWS, SLEET FREEZING RAIN THE SLIDING DOORS STICK OR FREEZES SHUT. THERE ARE ALSO TIMES WHEN THE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE THE HOOK POPPING OUT AFTER THE DOOR IS BELIEVED TO BE CLOSED. THE PROBLEM BEGINS IN THE MECHANISM THAT GRABS THE METAL LOOP CONNECTED TO THE DOORFRAME. THE DOOR ALLOWS MOISTURE IN AND THE METAL CLAMP SWELLS UP AND BINDS THE LATCH. NO AMOUNT OF LUBRICATION HELPS. THIS GAVE ME A FALSE READING THAT ALL THE DOORS WERE LATCHED. IN ADDITION, THE DOORS THAT SEEM TO BE SECURE, THEN THE ?DOOR NOT PROPERLY SECURE LIGHT?, COME ON WHILE I AM DRIVING AND HAVE MY CHILDREN KIDS IN BACK. I HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES, AS WELL AS REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO TOYOTA?S CORPORATE OFFICE. I TOOK IT TO MY TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD, "IT?S JUST A DESIGN FLAW IN THE VEHICLE". THE COST TO REPAIR THE DOOR CABLE IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE AND NOT A GUARANTEE THAT THE SAFETY PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED. I WAS TOLD TO WIPE THE DOORS DOWN WITH A TOWEL AFTER IT SNOWED OR I WAS AT THE CAR WASH AND THEN SPRAY EVERYTHING WITH WD40 OR SILICONE. I HAVE TRIED BOTH AND NEITHER WORK. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAVE THREE YOUNG CHILDREN (AGES 5 AND 16 MONTHS). AFTER SECURING THEM IN THEIR CAR SEATS, CLOSING THE DOOR, GETTING IN TO BACK OUT THEN THE DOOR POPS OUT. I AM MANUALLY PULLING THE DOOR TO ENSURE IT CLOSES, BUT STILL HAVING IT POP OPEN WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN, I HAVE RESIGNED MYSELF TO NOT USING THE DOORS A GOOD PORTION OF THE WINTER, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. *TR
THE RADIATOR ON MY 2005 SIENNA DEVELOPED A CRACK ON THE PLASTIC END CAP AT 54,00 MILES. A THREE INCH CRACK. I HAD NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM DEVELOPING IT HAPPENED QUICKLY AND LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS NOT PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN. THEREFORE THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY DID NOT APPLY. A FRIEND TOLD ME THAT HIS 2005 SIENNA WAS COVERED BY AND EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE TOYOTA IDENTIFIED A PROBLEM WITH RADIATORS CRACKING. I SENT MY COMMENTS/COMPLAINT TO TOYOTA WHO, AS USUAL DENIED MY CLAIM. THEY SAID THE EXTENSION ONLY APPLIED TO 2005 SIENNAS MANUFACTURED BEFORE SEPTEMBER AND GUESS MY TOYOTA WAS MANUFACTURER'S AFTER THAT DATE. I GUESS THEY DID NOT FIX PROBLEM FOR VEHICLES AFTER SEPTEMBER LIKE THEY THOUGHT. I COMPLETED THE REPAIR MYSELF. *TR
