MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 66,000 MILES ON IT HAS A FAULTY DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG AND HARNESS. TOYOTA WANTS $3,325.00 TO FIX. *TR
THE 2006 SIENNA HAS AN AIRBAG DEFECT. THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG IS FAULTY. WITHIN 15 MONTHS THE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE WITH THE SAME PART. *TR
THE 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT HAVE A MANUAL OVERRIDE. WHEN THE POWER SIDING DOOR MECHANISM FAILS THE PASSENGER(S) IS (ARE) TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE OR ARE FORCED TO EXIT INTO TRAFFIC OR CLIMB TO THE FRONT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THIS INCIDENT DID NOT RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT OR INJURE, IT DOES CREATE A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF CHILDREN ARE IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA HAD FLASHING AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH IN 2009 AT 48K MILES. BAD SENSOR WAS DISCOVERED BY TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE DEPT AND REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. 2 YEARS LATER AND 88K MILES, AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING AGAIN AND TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE DEPT DIAGNOSES AN "OPEN CIRCUIT" AND CAUSE BEING A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. ESTIMATED COST $1800 SINCE VEHICLE IS 6 MONTHS PAST WARRANTY. I CONTACTED TOYOTA FOR POSSIBLE APPEAL TO COVER COST OF REPAIR OF SAFETY SYSTEM. HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM TOYOTA IF THEY WILL COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE ERROR CODE DETECTED A PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG FAILURE WHICH WOULD PREVENT THE AIR BAGS FROM DEPLOYING DURING IMPACT. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
SIENNA 2006 MODEL BACK DOOR IS SHUTTING/CLOSING DOWN. I WAS CAUGHT IN BETWEEN AND IT SHUTS DOWN QUICK AND HARD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WHEN THE REAR LIFTGATE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WAS ENGAGED THE AUTOMATIC DOOR ABRUPTLY CLOSED ON THE HAND OF A PASSENGER, CAUSING MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. TAKEN THE CAR IN TWICE ALREADY TO FIX IT. WENT ON AGAIN LAST WEEK. NOW I AM OUT OF WARRANTY.... HOPE THEY WILL FIX IT AGAIN SINCE IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. IT IS SCARY TO DRIVE THE CAR IF YOU THINK THE AIR BAG MAY GO OFF AT ANY TIME ! TOYOTA NEEDS TO TELL THE DEALERSHIP HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! ISN'T REPLACING THE "PART" TWO TIMES ENOUGH ALREADY?? MY CAR HAS 80K MILES ON IT. *TR
BOTH AUTOMATIC SIDE DOORS MALFUNCTIONED WITHIN ONE MONTH OF EACH OTHER. THE CAN OPEN THEM MANUALLY FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT IT IS DIFFICULT TO DO SO (ESPECIALLY IF PARKED ON A HILL) AND IS DANGEROUS FOR SMALL CHILDREN. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. A CABLE IS HANGING OFF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VAN. THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE AND IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN - BOTH DOORS WITHIN ONE MONTH ON A VEHICLE MADE BY THE NAME TOYOTA. WE BOUGHT THIS VAN BECAUSE WE KNEW OF TOYOTA'S GREAT REPUTATION OF DURABILITY AND SERVICE AND WE EXPECT TOYOTA TO COME THROUGH AND RECTIFY THIS SITUATION. ALSO, I KNOW WE ARE NOT ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM AS THERE IS OVER 560 POSTINGS ON EDMUNDS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SIDE DOORS. WE REQUEST AN IMMEDIATE RECALL ON THESE DOORS AND EXPECT THEM TO BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE!
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA (APPROX. 89,000 MILES) SUDDENLY HAD FLASHING AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON APRIL 25, 2011. VEHICLE IS SINGLE OWNER, PERSONAL USE. NEVER INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS. TOOK TO DEALER, WAS TOLD THAT AIR BAG HARNESS AND FRONT AIRBAG WIRING WAS BAD, ENTIRE SYSTEM WOULD NEED REPLACED FOR ABOUT $2,400. SPOKE WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE, THEY OFFERED TO BY FOR 50% OF REPAIR. HAD SERVICE MANAGER AT DEALERSHIP CONTACT DISTRICT SERVICE PARTS MANAGER TO APPEAL FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM TOYOTA, AGAIN WAS TOLD THAT ONLY 50% OF COST WOULD BE COVERED BY TOYOTA. THIS ISSUE IS RELATED TO FAULTY WIRING/PARTS AND NOT TO MILEAGE, WHICH IS WHAT I AM REPEATEDLY TOLD IS THE REASON THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED (OUT OF 5 YEAR/60,000 MILE WARRANTY WINDOW). *TR
I BOUGHT A TOYOTA SIENNA 2006 CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE LAST DEC. 09, 2010. AFTER DRIVING FOR JUST LESS THAN 4 MONTHS I NOTICED THAT THE SRS LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. I INFORMED MY DEALER 4 DAYS LATER THROUGH EMAIL. BUT THE LIGHTS WENT OFF A DAY AFTER BEFORE I CAME DOWN TO HIS PLACE AND HAD BEEN WORKING NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS. THEN THE ISSUE CAME BACK AGAIN, BROUGHT IT DOWN TO SOUTH COAST TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THAT CODE: B0116 DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG AND WIRING LOOM NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR $3426. TOYOTA WAS INFORMED BUT SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I AM SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED AS THE REASON I BOUGHT A CERTIFIED USED CAR AND PAY THE PRICE WAS THE ASSURANCE THAT I WILL NOT GET A LEMON. BUT I WAS WRONG AND TOYOTA'S ASSURANCE ON QUALITY OF CERTIFIED USED CAR IS PURELY CRAP. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS FLASHING ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. IT STARTED FLASHING LAST YEAR, THEN STOPPED FOR A NUMBER OF MONTHS, AND NOW IT IS FLASHING AGAIN. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE, AND INDICATE THAT IF THIS LIGHT IS FLASHING, THEN THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN A COLLISION. *TR
TOYOTA SIENNA 2006 REAR BACK DOOR LIFT STRUTS FAILED SUDDENLY. I WAS VISITING LAKE TAHOE AND WHEN I WAS TAKING THE LUGAGGE OFF, SUDDENLY THE DOOR CAME DOWN, LUCKILY MYSELF AND KIDS WERE AWAY OTHERWISE IT MIGHT HAVE FALLEN ON EITHER ME OR MY KIDS, I REPORTED THIS TO TOYOTA DEALER AFTER MY TRIP AND THEY SAY IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND WILL COST ME 450 BUGS TO REPLACE THE STRUTS. MY WORRY IS IT SHOULD NOT FALL SUDDENLY, FIX IT BY RECALL IF SOME KIDS COME BETWEEN THE DOOR THEN IT MIGHT BE VERY DANGEROUS. I FEEL THE TOO COLD WEATHER IS THE CULPRIT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-70 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TWICE FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY DURING PRODUCTION. IN ADDITION, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT AIR BAG COULD INADVERTENTLY DEPLOY OR POSSIBLY NOT DEPLOY DURING A CRASH. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS A SHORTAGE WITHIN THE WIRING SYSTEM AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AND WIRING HARNESS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN RELATED TO THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: 10024292. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED REGARDING THE PROBLEM AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD RESPOND AT A LATER DATE TO WHETHER THEY WOULD BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AIRBAG SRS LIGHT BEGAN ILLUMINATING WITHOUT ANY PRIOR EVENT. VAN IS CURRENTLY AT DEALER AWAITING SERVICE, HARNESS WIRING PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. DEALER ADVISES THAT "TOYOTA IS REALLY STEPPING UP ON THIS AND HAS OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF THE COST OF THE REPAIRS = $1200". *TR
DOOR MAKES A POPPING SOUND WHEN OPENED. RESULTING IN THE DOOR TO OPEN FURTHER THEN NORMAL WHEN AJAR. NOW THE DOOR IS AT THE POINT WHERE IT WON'T OPEN ALL THE WAY AND THE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL DOWN COMPLETELY. I READ SOME POSTS ONLINE AND APPARENTLY THE ISSUE HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY TOYOTA BUT THEY HAVE NOT YET RECALLED THE CAR FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TT
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER HAS SAID PASSENGER AIR BAG AND FLOOR HARNESS HAS A SHORT AND MUST BE REPLACED. $3000. CAR HAS ONLY 63,000 MILES ON IT - SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY PART ISSUE. *TR
WHEEL RIMS ON 2006 SIENNA ARE DETERIORATING WITH BUBBLING OF ALLOY WHEELS APPEARING ON RIMS. BUBBLING IS OCCURRING THROUGHOUT WHEELS AND NOT IN ONE AREA. *TR
MY WIFE STARTED THE CAR AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. SO WE LOOKED UP IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND IT SAID TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN ASAP BECAUSE THE AIR BAGS COULD DEPLOY ON THEIR OWN. WE TOOK VEHICLE TO MILLER TOYOTA IN MANASSAS, VA AND THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BY REPLACING 2 PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS AND THE HARNESS AT A COST OF $2353.70 TO US. SRS WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED FLASHING AFTER START UP. DEALER CONFIRMED ERROR CODE B0111. PASSENGERS AIR BAG AND HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED. THESE ITEMS ARE COVERED WITH "UPDATED PARTS" IN A TOYOTA TSB 0162-10, DATED 02/27/2008, COVERING SIENNA MODEL YEARS 2004 THROUGH 2008. OVER ONE HUNDRED SIMILAR OCCURRENCES ARE FOUND ON VARIOUS SAFETY RELATED AND OWNER BASED INTERNET SITES. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS OEM DEFECT OF A CRITICAL VEHICLE SYSTEM THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN AWARE OF FOR SOME TIME NOW.

THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE DRIVER FRONT AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS WIRES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRES AND AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COST. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,150.
DURING NORMAL USAGE, SRS WARNING LIGHT ON DASH BEGAN FLASHING. TOOK TO DEALER AND PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS B0111 - AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS FAILURE. DEALER HAS ADVISED WILL ORDER PART TO REPLACE. ITEM IS COVERED UNDER 5 YEAR / 60K WARRANTY.

THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, EITHER USING MANUAL OR POWER ASSIST. IT WORKED GREAT UNTIL ONE DAY, IT JUST STOPPED. THE POWER ASSIST MAKES A NOISE, AND THE DOOR "TRIES" TO OPEN, BUT THE DOOR IS STUCK CLOSED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CHILDREN CANNOT EXIT ON THE SIDE OF THE SIDEWALK (THE RIGHT SIDE), AND MUST INSTEAD EXIT ON THE LEFT NEXT TO THE PASSING TRAFFIC. *TR
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA LIMITED VAN (34,000 MILES) WITH AUTOMATIC REAR AND SLIDING DOORS. 1 MONTH AGO RIGHT REAR SLIDING DOOR STOPPED OPENING WHEN USING MANUAL DOOR LATCH. IF YOU MANUALLY UNLATCH DOOR, YOU MUST MANUALLY OPEN IT ABOUT ONE THIRD BEFORE MOTOR KICKS IN TO OPEN IT FULLY. WORKS OK USING OVERHEAD CONSOLE BUTTON AND WHEN USING FOB BUTTONS. TOOK VAN TO TOYOTA DEALER ON 2/28/11. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. WENT TO PICK VAN UP ON 3/1/11. SLIDING DOOR AGAIN NOT WORKING. THEY KEPT VAN SEVERAL MORE HOURS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING. PROBLEM REMAINS. THEY SAID THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY DID SEND IN A TECHNICAL REPORT TO TOYOTA. AFTER CHECKING OUT AND FINALLY GETTING READY TO LEAVE DEALER THE VAN WOULD NOT START. THE BATTERY HAD DIED. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY. AFTER THAT AND FOR 2 MORE DAYS, THE SLIDING DOOR WORKED OK. ON MORNING OF THIRD DAY, THE SLIDING DOOR PROBLEM RETURNED. STILL WILL NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY USING MANUAL DOOR LATCH. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAG HARNESS NEEDED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,100 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 94,000. BW
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS FLASHING. PER INFORMATION ONLINE, THIS INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS -- EITHER FAILING TO INFLATE IN A CRASH OR INFLATING ERRONEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS SEEMS LIKE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. CORRECTION OF THE PROBLEM CAN COST UP TO $4,000 AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY DEFECT AND SUBJECT TO RECALL. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR POPPING NOISE. TOYOTA KNOWS IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH SPOT WELDS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. MY PROBLEM STARTED TWO MONTHS LATE SO THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS BEFORE SCHEDULED SERVICE, AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED LIT. AFTER NORMAL MAINTENANCE SERVICE WAS PERFORMED, THE DEALER DID NOT NOTIFY MY THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I FOUND THIS STRANGE, SINCE DURING OTHER SERVICE EVENTS, WE WERE SOLICITED FOR RECOMMENDED SERVICES. I PERFORMED SOME RESEARCH AND DETERMINED THAT THERE ARE OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY WIFE AND KIDS, SINCE THIS VEHICLE IS OUR ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. I WOULD THINK THE DEALER SHOULD ACT IN GOOD FAITH TO NOTIFY ME THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS ALMOST FIVE YEARS OLD AND OUT OF STANDARD WARRANTY. DUE TO TOYOTA'S RECENT TRACK RECORD. I BELIEVE AN INVESTIGATION IS NEEDED. *TR
COMING UP TO AN INTERSECTION, CAR KEPT ACCELERATING AS I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL, HAD TO PUSH HARD ON THE BRAKE AS ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV, PLACED IN NEUTRAL, DEPRESSED GAS PEDAL A COUPLE MORE TIMES, ENGINE QUIT REVVING. DISCOVERED THAT ANCHORS FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR MAT HAD COME OUT OF THE CARPET AND ALLOWED THE FLOOR MAT TO CREEP UP AFFECTING THE GAS PEDAL. REMOVED THE MAT, TOOK TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHO SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL REGARDING THE SIENNA FLOOR MATS, THE DEALER REPLACED THE 2 RINGS IN THE CARPET USED TO ANCHOR AT MY COST, ONE ANCHOR BECAME DISLODGED AGAIN WITHIN A DAY. SEEMS THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF DEFECT IN THE ENGINEERING OF THAT RING USED TO SANDWICH/SECURE INTO THE CARPET. *TR

I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THERE WERE TWO ERROR CODES AND THAT SINCE THEY WEREN'T SURE EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. TOTAL: $4400 AND CHANGE. THE REP ALSO TOLD ME HE'D ONLY HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING ONCE BEFORE, AND HIS RECOMMENDATION WAS THAT I SIMPLY TRADE IT IN AND BUY A NEW TOYOTA (OF COURSE). I HAVE 8 PAYMENTS LEFT. IT ONLY HAS 83K MILES AND IS FIVE YEARS OLD. THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2006 SIENNA AIR BAGS FAR OUTNUMBER THE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VAN. *TR
FEBRUARY 13 2011 JUST BOUGHT A USED TOYOTA SIENNA... DRIVEN LESS THAN 200 MILES AND THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED BLINKING. THERE WAS NO REAL REASON THAT THIS LIGHT WOULD'VE BEEN TRIGGERED. JUST DROVE THE CAR AS WE NORMALLY HAVE DONE. *TR

I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE LINE, THE CONTACTED DEALER AND AGREED TO PAY $700 TOWARDS REPAIR. I STILL CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIR AS I AM STILL PAYING ON THE AUTO LOAN. THIS IS A SAFETY FAILURE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. I AM NOW WITHOUT AIRBAGS. AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED - NO ACCIDENTS. VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND 81K MILES.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD OF OUR 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA SUDDENLY CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT THE SENSOR WAS BAD AND IT WOULD REQUIRE THE WHOLE SEAT TO BE REPLACED FOR AROUND $3000. THE INTERNET REVEALED THOUSAND OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES EXHIBITED SIGNIFICANT TREAD SEPARATION. THE FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH NEW TIRES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. HE THEN DROVE 3 MILES TO A SERVICE STATION AND THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE HAD A SPLIT. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM HAD NOT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THERE WAS NO SPARE TIRE AVAILABLE DUE TO IT BEING ALL-WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER AND ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH A 2010 GRACO BOOSTER SEAT, MODEL NUMBER PD144968A. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT HOLD THE CHILD IN PLACE WHILE IN THE BOOSTER. THE CHILD HAD THE ABILITY TO MOVE FREELY IN THE SEAT FROM ONE SIDE TO ANOTHER AND WAS ALSO ABLE TO UNCLIP THE SEAT BELT. THE BOOSTER SEAT MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A CLIP THAT COULD BE INSTALLED FOR THE VEHICLE SEAT BELT TO HAVE A TIGHTER FIT. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A CLIP OR ANY SUGGESTIONS TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 3/14/11 *CN UPDATED 04/22/11
AS I WAS PROCEEDING DOWNHILL TOWARDS A 4-WAY STOP INTERSECTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL; I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPEN. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. A CAR WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME AT THE INTERSECTION, SO I WENT TO THE LEFT OF THE CAR TO AVOID REAR ENDING HIM. I CONTINUED ACROSS THE INTERSECTION TOWARD THE CAR ACROSS THE STREET HOPING TO BE ABLE TO FIT BETWEEN HIM AND A TELEPHONE POLE WITHOUT HITTING EITHER TO LAND IN A SNOW BANK. I MANAGED TO HIT HIS FRONT END ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF HIS CAR MISSING THE TELEPHONE POLE AND LANDING IN THE SNOW ABOVE THE CURB. NOBODY WAS INJURED, BUT HIS CAR AND MINE WERE DAMAGED. *TR
DOOR VERY HARD TO OPEN AND CLOSE. PLASTIC SHEETING COMES OFF THE CABLE MAKING IT NON FUNCTIONAL. BAD DESIGN IF YOU ASK ME. $1800 TO REPLACE THE MOTOR WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS. $1100 FOR THE MOTOR, WHICH AGAIN SHOULD NOT COST AS MUCH. HIGHWAY ROBBERY. I CAN UNDERSTAND IF IT COUPLE HUNDRED FOR THE MOTOR. THIS NEEDS TO GO ON A RECALL. TOO MANY SIENNA OWNERS HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEM. JUST GOOGLE AND YOU WILL FIND ALL THE FORUMS. REPORTED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER ON 02/05/2011 AT MILEAGE 62000 AND THE DEALER SAID CODE IS B111 AND THAT THE RIGHT SIDE AIR BAG NEED TO BE REPLACED. CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF 2006 SIENNA OWNERS REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH 2006 SIENNA. *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OUR LIFT GATE AFTER BEING OPENED MANUALLY SLOWLY STARTED TO COME DOWN 12 INCHES THEN STOP. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS IT FELL DOWN, ONCE ON MY HUSBANDS BACK AND ONCE ON MINE, WHILE WE WERE CHANGING OUR SONS DIAPERS. AFTER THIS SOMEONE WAS ALWAYS THERE TO HOLD IT MAKING SURE THIS DIDNT HAPPEN AGAIN. ONCE THE WEATHER TURNED COLD IT HAD FAILED COMPLETELY WITH VISIBLE OIL/GREASE SHOWING ON SHOCKS. WE WERE TOLD "SORRY" BY THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY AUTOMATIC LIFT GATES. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD MULTIPLE TIMES THE SAME SHOCKS WERE USED ON BOTH MODELS JUST ONE OPENED BY HAND AND ANOTHER BY MOTOR BUT THE SAME SHOCKS HELD IT OPEN AND THESE ARE THE SAME ONES THAT HAVE FAILED. WE CANT UNDERSTAND WHY TOYOTA HASNT ISSUED A TOTAL RECALL SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS AND INJURIES. WE FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO THROW AN ARM UP TO HELP BREAK THE FALL OF IT ON OUR BACKS, SO THERE WERE ONLY BRUISES. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA, NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. AT 78,000 THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON. THEY TOLD ME THE SYSTEM HAD A SHORT IN TWO PLACES IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG ENTIRELY. *TR

TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A WIRING HARNESS PROBLEM AND WOULD COST SOMEWHERE BETWEEN $2000 AND $3000 TO FIX, AS IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. FORTUNATELY, THE LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER A SHORT TIME. NOW WITH ABOUT 90,000 MILES ON THE CAR, IT HAS COME BACK ON. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH HAS REVEALED LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME FAILURE, MANY OF WHICH ARE OCCURRING WITH VERY FEW MILES ON THE CAR. I CANNOT IMAGINE WHY TOYOTA HAS NOT ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL. BEYOND THAT, I CANNOT FATHOM WHY NHTSA HASN'T YET DEMANDED ONE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND TOYOTA IS NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. JUST DO AN INTERNET SEARCH FOR 2006 SIENNA AIRBAG COMPLAINT.
