SPARE TIRE UNDERNEATH THE VAN FELL ON ROAD WHILE DRIVING WHILE I WAS DRIVING INTO A MALL. CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 18003314331 ABOUT THIS ISSUE. ALTHOUGH TOYOTA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUED A WARNING, THEY REFUSED TO FIX THIS ISSUE. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. *TR
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF. SEEMS TO BE A CONNECTION ISSUE. *JS
DURING THE 65K SERVICE AT I WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING THIS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF STEERING GEAR AND REPLACING THE TIE ROD END EACH SIDE. THE COST WILL BE AROUND $1225.00. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE QUALITY OF TOYOTA VEHICLE IS GETTING DECREASED COMPARE TO SOME EARLIER MODELS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON AN EXPRESSWAY, WITHOUT CAUSE OR WARNING, THE SRS AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. THIS HAD HAPPENED BEFORE AT 38,000 MILES IN APRIL OF 2010 BUT WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY BY REMOVING AND REPLACING THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND RELATED AIR BAG EQUIPMENT. NOW THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. TOYOTA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR AS IT IS A LIFE THREATENING SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE SRS AIR BAG SYSTEM IN A CAR IS NONFUNCTIONAL. IF INDEED THE REPAIR IS A SIMPLE DETACHMENT AND REATTACHMENT OF THE AIR BAG CONNECTORS UNDER THE FRONT SEATS (AS REPORTED ON THE 2006 SIENNA EDMUNDS CONSUMER BULLETIN BOARDS), THEN TOYOTA SHOULD MAKE THAT REPAIR AVAILABLE TO ALL OWNERS OF THIS CAR (WITHOUT REGARD TO AGE OF CAR OR MILEAGE) FOR NO COST. THESE CONNECTORS ARE IN A POSITION TO BE KNOCKED LOOSE EASILY BY PERSONAL ITEMS IN THE UNDERSEAT STORAGE TRAY OR OTHERWISE ON THE FLOOR OF THE CAR. IT IS A BAD DESIGN THAT COULD HAVE LIFE THREATENING CONSEQUENCES IF AN AIR BAG DOES NOT DEPLOY. *TR
OUR VAN HAS A SRS AIRBAG LIGHT THAT FLASHES FOR NO REASON AT ALL. WE HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAD ANY INCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS UNDER 25,000 MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED, IT APPEARS MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MYSELF, HUSBAND AND 3 CHILDREN. ONE MORNING, JUST A REGULAR MORNING AS ALWAYS, I GOT INTO MY CAR TO DRIVE TO WORK, TURNED THE CAR ON, AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. IT CONTINUED TO FLASH THE WHOLE TIME I WAS DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN FLASHING EVER SINCE, EVERY TIME I DRIVE THIS CAR. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENTS OR ANY FUNNY BUSINESS, JUST OUT OF THE BLUE IT STARTED FLASHING. *TR
RUN-FLAT TIRE WENT FLAT WITHOUT THE WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATION. WHEN IT ACTIVATED, THERE WAS ALREADY A HOLE IN THE TIRE FROM RUNNING IT FLAT. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, WHICH WAS ONE WEEK LATER, THERE WAS A HOLE BEFORE THE LIGHT CAME ON. THE TIRE PRESSURE IS CHECKED REGULARLY ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND FLASHES. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA YET THEY CHOOSE NOT TO ISSUE A RECALL. COST TO FIX IT MAY EXCEED $1,500-$2,000. AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN ID: T-SB-1062-10. *TR
CRACKED/MELTING DASHBOARDS. RECEIVED LETTER FROM TOYOTA FOR FREE REPAIR FEW MONTHS AGO, BUT STILL WAITING FOR ANOTHER LETTER AND DO NOT RECEIVE ANY UPDATE FROM MANUFACTURER YET.
POWER REAR LIFTGATE STRUTS HAVE FAILED. THEY WERE ORIGINALLY REPLACED UNDER THE 2008 RECALL (THEY WEREN'T DEFECTIVE AT THE TIME); HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOW FAILED. THE DOOR CLOSES HARD ON YOU IF YOU ARE NOT READY FOR IT AND IT'S NOT EASY TO PROP IT OPEN OR KEEP IT OPEN WITHOUT POTENTIALLY INJURING YOURSELF. THERE IS NO WAY TO DISENGAGE OR OTHERWISE PROP OPEN THE DOOR MANUALLY. *TR
THE HATCHBACK OF THE TOYOTA SIENNA WAS BROKEN. IT COULD BE OPENED BUT DID NOT STAY UP. I HAD TO HOLD IT UP AND WHEN I LET GO OF IT, THE DOOR SLAMMED DOWN QUICKLY AND COULD HAVE HURT ME IF I DIDN'T MOVE. I HAD IT FIXED ON JUNE 28TH BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE. *TR
THE CAR WAS IN PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. WITHOUT PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE, THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD AFTER I EXITED THE VEHICLE. I QUICKLY TURNED TO GET BACK IN THE CAR TO STOP THE VEHICLE, AS IT WAS ROLLING TOWARDS MY OTHER CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY. IN DOING SO, I SUFFERED A KNEE INJURY, FELL TO THE GROUND I INJURED MY KNEE AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT MADE CONTACT WITH MY OTHER CAR. THE INJURY TO MY KNEE WAS SIGNIFICANT, REQUIRED SURGERY, AND I HAVE STILL NOT RETURNED TO WORK. *TR
MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THEY ORDERED THE PART, BUT THEN ALSO INFORMED ME I NEEDED A NEW WATER PUMP. I HAD THE WATER PUMP REPAIRED, THEN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER THE AIRBAG PART CAME IN, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I STILL HAVE THE PART. NOW THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME TOYOTA MODELS, BUT I DID NOT FIND A RECALL SPECIFIC TO MY VEHICLE. I THINK MY VEHICLE SHOULD MAYBE BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE THE AIRBAG PART INSTALLED AND REPAIRED. JUST LET ME SAY I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE MY 2006 SIENNA. I WILL KEEP IT UNTIL IT DIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE ANTI SKID BREAK LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD BEEPING SOUND. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HER RESIDENCE AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SIXTY OR SEVENTY TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE, BECAUSE IT OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, GOING 5-10 MPH, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON FLASHING AND BEEPING LOUDLY. THE STEERING SYSTEM LOCKED UP AND LASTED 45 SECONDS TO 1 MINUTE. IT WOULD OCCUR ON A HIGHWAY AS WELL, NO REASON, GROUND COMPLETELY DRY. IT WOULD OCCUR DRIVING INTO THE PA TURNPIKE TOLL BOOTH, ROUNDING CORNERS, GOING STRAIGHT ON 65 MPH HIGHWAY, (IT OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY 60-70 TIMES). THE DEALER (NORTH HILLS TOYOTA 7401 MCKNIGHT ROAD, PITTSBURGH, PA 15237 412-318-3000 WERE UNABLE TO FIX IT AFTER I TOOK IT IN TWICE. THE LAST TIME, THEY DISCONNECTED THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CURRENTLY AM DRIVING WITH THE SYSTEM UNCONNECTED. *JS

OUR SRS AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. WE HAVE HAD NO ACCIDENTS IN THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE GOTTEN A COST ESTIMATE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS WELL OVER $1000. WE HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS LIKE THIS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY TOYOTA. WHAT SHOULD THE CONSUMER HAVE TO PAY FOR FAULTY WIRING AND BE IN DANGER OF THEIR SRS SYSTEMS NOT WORKING PROPERLY? *TR
BOTH SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE, THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK IS OFF AND STILL THEY WILL NOT OPEN. *TR
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG LIGHT BEGINS BLINKING AND WILL NOT GO OUT. BASED ON ONLINE INFORMATION I DETERMINED THAT THE HARNESS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT MAY BE FAULTY. I UNPLUGGED THE HARNESS AND REPLUGGED IT AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. AFTER A FEW HUNDRED MILES THE BLINKING LIGHT RETURNED. THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX. IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE CHECK INTO THE AIRBAG PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH STARTED BLINKING AND HAS CONTINUED BLINKING WHENEVER VEHICLE IS OPERATED. *TR
DROVE VAN FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES, PARKED IT FOR AN HOUR, WHEN I GOT BACK IN, MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS INDICATING. CALLED DEALER, TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN FOR A $150 FEE JUST TO READ THE LIGHT. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WAS INDICATING AND THEY HAD RECEIVED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT IT AND HAD SEVERAL TOYOTAS IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
ATTEMPTED TO OPEN PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR TO LET CHILDREN OUT AND WOULD NOT OPEN. WAS TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH BUT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. IT IS NOW STUCK IN THE CLOSED POSITION. *TR
SLIDING DOOR QUIT WORKING. DOOR WOULD GET STUCK MIDWAY THROUGH OPERATION AND JAM. CABLES EXPOSED OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. TOYOTA STATED THERE WAS NO TYPE OF COVERAGE OR RECALL OUTSIDE OF REGULAR WARRANTY. ENTIRE MOTOR AND CABLES NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR APPROXIMATELY $1400 OR THEY RECOMMENDED GOING TO A MANUAL OVERRIDE. CHILDREN HAVE BEEN NEARLY CAUGHT IN MANUAL DOOR CLOSING BECAUSE OF RAPID CLOSING, WORSE ON A SLOPE. ONLINE RESEARCH REVEALS THAT MANY SIENNA'S HAVE SAME PROBLEM.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. *TR
ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE AIR BAGS (SRS) LIGHT CAME ON AND KEPT BLINKING. IT STAYS BLINKING WHENEVER THE CAR IS STARTED. I CHECKED THE MANUAL AND AM SURE IT IS THE SRS LIGHT (NOT FOR THE SEAT BELT). THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN DEC 2006, AND I HAVE NOT HAD AIR BAGS ISSUE BEFORE. REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR GIVEN THE SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THAT I OWN IT. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 177,000.

FRONT DRIVER SEAT BELT JAMS AND WON'T RETRACT. HAPPENS OFTEN. SOMETIMES IT CANNOT BE FREED AND YOU MUST DRIVE HOME WITHOUT A SEAT BELT OR LEAVE THE CAR. *TR
THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, THE SRS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, BLINKING, INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THE SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER, WAS QUOTED A REPAIR OF $1600 FOR A NEW WIRE HARNESS. I DECLINED. I RESEARCHED ONLINE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR TOYOTA MAKE AND MODEL. OFTEN PEOPLE GET THE REPAIR DONE AND THE LIGHT COMES ON WITHIN DAYS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE CAR, NOT USER ERROR. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, THE AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED, SO I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY NORMAL USE WOULD CAUSE SUCH AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. TOYOTA NEEDS TO DO A RECALL OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL OR PROVIDE A FIX THAT WILL WORK. THE WIRE HARNESS FOR THIS MODEL IS UNDER THE FRONT SEATS, WHICH GET MOVED AND JOSTLED DAILY. THE PASSENGER SEAT HAS A BIN THAT SLIDES IN AND OUT DIRECTLY ABOVE THE WIRES FOR THE SRS! I HAVE JOSTLED THE WIRES AND THE LIGHT GOES OFF. SO NOW I DON'T KNOW IF MY AIRBAGS EVEN WORK. THE DEALER WANTS $150 JUST TO TELL ME YES OR NO ON THAT. PLEASE LOOK THROUGH YOUR RECORDS TO FIND MORE OF THESE COMPLAINTS AS I KNOW THEY HAVE BEEN FILED. MY 2006 SIENNA WAS BACKED INTO AT THE PASSENGER REAR QUARTER PANEL BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 2 OR 3 DAYS THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. THE BODY SHOP RESET THE AIRBAGS. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TOOK BACK TO BODY SHOP AND THEY HAD THE SAME B CODE FROM THE ACCIDENT AND RESET. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE WEB IT SEEMS THAT THE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR UNDER THE SEATS IS THE PROBLEM AND I HAVE TO RESET THEM EVERY SO OFTEN. SAME ISSUE THAT OTHER 2006 SIENNA OWNERS ARE HAVING. *JS
THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN NO ACCIDENT AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND SAID THAT A TSB HAS BEEN ISSUED. HOWEVER, MY WARRANTY PERIOD IS OVER. I BELIEVE THE CAR SHOULD STILL BE COVERED. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE BASED UPON MY GOOGLE SEARCH. *TR
AIR BAG HAS GONE OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON REPAIR IS ABOVE $1,500. TALKED TO OWNER HE MEANT TO SAY THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON, NOT THAT THE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED. *TR
SRS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND CONTINUES TO BLINK. TROUBLE / DIAGNOSTIC CODES OF B0111, AND B1152 APPEAR. TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) 0162-10 ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE. APPARENTLY, THE TERMINALS / CONNECTIONS INSIDE THE WIRING HARNESS CORRODE, AND MUST BE REPLACED. COST IS @ $3000 TO REPAIR. PLEASE LOOK AT: WWW.ABOUTAUTOMOBILE.COM/COMPLAINT/2006/TOYOTA/SIENNA/AIRBAG. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF UPSET SIENNA OWNERS WONDERING WHY A RECALL IS NOT FORTHCOMING FROM THIS AGENCY. WE DISCOVERED THAT THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER SEAT BELT (BUILT INTO THE SEAT) DID NOT EVER ENGAGE. IT LATCHED WITH NO ISSUES BUT WOULD NOT CATCH WHEN APPROPRIATE. AS OUR YOUNG CHILD TYPICALLY USES THE SEAT, WE DID NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT HAD BEEN INOPERABLE BEFORE A FORTUITOUS USE BY AN ADULT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY AT OUR COST. *TR
SRS LIGHT START BLINKING THEN STAY ON WHILE DRIVING. CHECKED BOTH SRS ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS UNDER FRONT SEATS AND BOTH APPEARS PROPERLY CONNECTED. PULLED OUT BOTH CONNECTORS AND PUSHED THEM BACK IN, YET SRS LIGHT STILL STAY ON. *TR
IN JUNE 2012 FIRST SRS WARNING LIGHT APPEARED WHILE DRIVING FAMILY OUT OF TOWN. ON 6/20/2012 VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS REPAIRED. CAUSE : REPLACE PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY. IN AUGUST 2012, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT (SRS) CAME BACK AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS REPAIRED. CAUSE, CODE EL1110, REPLACING THE HARNESS. IN NOVEMBER 2012 THE SRS LIGHT CAME BACK AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA AGAIN. THE CAUSE WAS AGAIN CODE EL1110, NEEDING REPLACEMENT OF HARNESS. SINCE HARNESS WAS JUST RECENTLY REPLACED, THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN VERIFIED EVERY PIN ON THE CONNECTOR AND FOUND SOME PINS NOT MAKING GOOD CONTACT AND REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. ON APRIL 3, 2013 THE SRS WARNING LIGHT IS ON YET AGAIN! PLAN TO TAKE THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER AGAIN BUT I AM GETTING SUSPICIOUS THAT THERE MAY BE A LARGER MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM HIDDEN IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OF THIS VEHICLE. FORTUNATE TO EXTENDED WARRANTY, I HAD NOT BEEN CHARGED FOR PAST REPAIRS, BUT IT WAS IN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. MY WARRANTY IS TO EXPIRE SHORTLY AND I FEEL I WILL BE DEALING WITH THIS LIFE THREATENING ISSUE SHOULD TOYOTA NOT INVESTIGATE AND FIND A SOUND SOLUTION OR PROVIDE A RECALL ON SRS SYSTEM FOR THIS VINTAGE VEHICLE. *TR

THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY EVEN THOUGH THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON, BUT THAT THE CONNECTOR BELOW THE SEATS IS LIKELY THE CULPRIT. TOYOTA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
LESS THAN A YEAR AGO A CREAKING NOISE TURN INTO A CRACKING NOISE AND NOW IS WORSE LIKE A POPPING SOUND THAT FEEL LIKE THE DOOR IS GOING TO FALL WHEN YOU TRY TO CLOSE IT AND WHEN YOU ARE IN THE HIGHWAY THE DOOR VIBRATES AND IT FEELS LIKE IS GOING TO FALL FROM THE VEHICLE. TOYOTA SEND A NOTICE TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY 5 YRS OR 100000 AND MY MINI VAN MOSTLY IS USED IN THE WEEKENDS SO I HAVE ONLY ABOUT 60000K FOR A 8 YEARS OLD CAR (LOW MILEAGE USE). OF COURSE THE NOISE START TO HAPPEN JUST AFTER 5 YRS BUT LESS THAN 6 YRS OR 100000 MILES AND TOYOTA APPARENTLY DOES NOT COVER THE REPAIR. I'M WANDERING IF THE DOOR FALL OFF FROM THE CAR IN THE HIGHWAY CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHO IS GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE. THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM OF A WELDING JOINT AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IF PROPER WORK HAVE BEEN DONE. LIFT GATE CLOSES AUTOMATICALLY. STRUTS SUPPORTING LIFT GATE WHERE REPLACED IN 2008 RECALL BUT FOUR YEARS AFTER, THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING AGAIN BUT TOYOTA WANTS 470.00 TO REPLACE THE STRUTS. I DO NOT CONSIDER FOUR YEARS ADEQUATE FOR SUCH A FAILURE AND FEEL TOYOTA HAS A POOR DESIGN THAT HAS NOT BE FIXED. I DO NOT RECALL ANY ISSUES WITH ANY CAR IN MY FAMILY WHERE THE LIFT GATE, TRUNK OR HATCH BACK STRUTS EVERY FAILED. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON LINE ABOUT THIS IN 2012 FOR 2006 SIENNA OWNERS.
IN THE SUMMER OF 2010, I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE REAR HATCH OF MY SIENNA NOT STAYING OPEN. I HAD THE REAR HATCH STAYS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL IN JULY 2010. THIS WINTER, THE REAR HATCH BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA DIDN'T DO A VERY GOOD JOB OF MAKING A SAFE REAR HATCH SYSTEM. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FAILED TO LOCK. THE "DOOR OPEN" LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD REMAINED LIT. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DOOR COULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH IDENTIFIED FAULTY REAR LATCH AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF REPAIR COST OF $526. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR COST WHICH THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY SINCE THE FAULTY LATCH MECHANISM IS NOT A RESULT OF USAGE OF THE VEHICLE, RATHER IT IS PROBABLY DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN. TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL OF THIS FAULTY LATCH MECHANISM. *TR
RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING.WHEN I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED IT SLAMED SHUT WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO SEVER A LIMB.LUCKY NO ONE WAS THERE .DEALER WANTS $1300 TO REPAIR IT. I SAY IT SHOULNT BE EVEN POSSIBLE TO HAVE HAPPENED AND A REPAIR WITH THE SAME PARTS WONT PREVENT IT. ITS NOW CLOSED WITH A RATCHAT TIE DOWN.USELESS BUT SAFE
THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AND BLINKING. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT COST $852 TO FIX THE "WIRE HARNESS" ISSUE. I CHECKED ON LINE AND REALIZED THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE. IT IS A COMMON SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE BY TOYOTA. BY THE WAY, THE SAME AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON IN 2008 AND THE AIRBAG SENSOR WAS "RECALIBRATED" BY THE DEALERSHIP UNDER NEW CAR WARRANTY. I THOUGHT THEY REPLACED THE AIRBAG AS THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE IT TOOK MORE THAN ONE WEEK TO GET MY VAN BACK. BUT WHEN I LOOKED INTO THIS NOW, THE REPAIR WAS ACTUALLY "RECALIBRATE AIRBAG SENSOR". *TR
