WHEN I OPEN THE LIFT GATE FROM THE CONSOLE OR KEY FOB AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS ABOUT 32 DEGREES OR LESS THE LIFT GATE GOES UP THEN COMES RIGHT BACK DOWN. IF I REPEAT THE OPENING PROCESS SEVERAL TIMES IT FINALLY STAYS UP. I HAVE BEEN HIT SEVERAL TIME BY THE LIFT GATE WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS OPEN, IT TAKES A LOT OF STRENGTH TO STOP IT ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. WHAT WOULD IT DO TO A CHILD? THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND IN PARK OR IF THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING AT ALL. IN MY GARAGE, PARKING LOTS, ETC, WHEREVER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT 2011 AND CONTINUES GETTING WORSE EACH YEAR.
WHEN TURNING CORNERS, THE VSC LIGHT TURNS ON, THE CAR BEEPS, AND THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES, CAUSING THE CAR TO BRAKE ON OWN. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY, INTERMITTENTLY, AT ALL SPEEDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE AN ABNORMAL ALARMING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE CONTACT CALLED FRONTIER TOYOTA AT (661) 291-2900 (LOCATED AT 23621 CREEKSIDE RD, VALENCIA, CA 91355) AND LEFT A VOICEMAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
MY DASH PANEL WARNING LIGHTS 4 OR 5 LITE UP, TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALER, HE PUT IT ON A COMPUTER AND STATED THAT ,YOUR CATALITIC CONVERTER, MUFFLER AND OTHER PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECH. HE PUT A PINT OF LUKUS GAS TREATMENT,TOLD ME TO FILL THE TANK WITH HIGHER OCTAINE GAS AND RUN IT IN 4TH GEAR .
THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM COMES ON WHEN GOING INTO ANY RIGHT TURN. THE ALARM BEEPS AND THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY BRAKES, AND THE GAS PEDAL IS DISABLED SO THAT YOU CAN NOT SPEED UP. THE BRAKING CAN BE SO SEVERE THAT IT WILL REDUCE SPEED FROM 45 MPH TO 25 MPH WITHOUT NOTICE WHICH JERKS THE PASSENGERS VIOLENTLY.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHER SPEEDS (GREATER THAN 40 MPH) AROUND CURVES, THE SKID INDICATOR SENSOR WILL OCCASIONALLY TRIGGER EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT WHERE NO SLIPPING IS HAPPENING. THE CAR WILL AUTOMATICALLY DECELERATE AND BRAKE MOMENTARILY. THERE IS OFTEN A CLICKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN AS WELL. THE VSC WARNING LIGHT OCCASIONALLY COMES ON TOO. MECHANICS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, BASED ON RESEARCH AT TOYOTA BLOGS, IT APPEARS THAT OTHER TOYOTA SIENNA DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE.
TOYOTA 2008 SIENNA LE 2WD POWER STEERING RACK & PINION SEAL FAILED AND LEAKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AT 120,000 MILES. THE RACK BOOT TORE AND BROKE AS A RESULT. REPAIR COST IS ESTIMATED AT APPROXIMATELY $2,000. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ARE POSTED BY OTHER OWNERS ON THE INTERNET ALL POINTING TO THE SAME DEFECT. IF DRIVERS ARE UNAWARE, OR IF THE DEFECT IS NOT RESOLVED, POWER STEERING COULD FREEZE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS. THIS SHOULD REQUIRE A SAFETY RECALL OR EXTENSION OF POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO COVER THIS ISSUE. FAILURE HAS NOT OCCURRED YET AND WILL TAKE STEPS TO REPAIR.
MY SIENNA SIDE DOOR CANNOT OPEN. MY SON WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE IF A PROBLEM IN AN ACCIDENT. DEALER SAID THERE IS NO RECALL BUT THE DOOR CANNOT EVEN BE OPENED MANUALLY. THIS WOULD BE A $1500-2000 REPAIR WHICH AS A SINGLE MOM IS NOT AN OPTION FOR ME. I DO NOT FEEL SOMETHING AS SIGNIFICANT AS ABILITY TO ESCAPE A VEHICLE SHOULD FALL ON THE CONSUMER.
MY WIFE AND I HAVE FIVE LOVELY SMALL CHILDREN. WE OWN A 2008 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE. SOME YEARS AGO, THE "POWER" ASPECT OF THE SLIDING DOORS STOPPED WORKING. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE BEEN USING THE VAN BY SLIDING THE DOORS OPEN AND SHUT MANUALLY. RECENTLY, WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR UNEXPECTEDLY CAME OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THIS WAS TRAUMATIC FOR HER AND FOR MY 5 CHILDREN. ALSO RECENTLY, THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR BECAME COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, MARK MILLER TOYOTA, HAS BEEN WORKING DILIGENTLY AND EXPERTLY TO TRY TO REPAIR BOTH SLIDING DOORS. THEY APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR, AT SUBSTANTIAL EXPENSE TO ME. HOWEVER, MARK MILLER TOYOTA IS PRESENTLY UNABLE TO REPAIR THE DRIVERS SLIDING DOOR, AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN NON-OPERATIONAL FOR WEEKS NOW.
THE SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY BURST WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON I-76 OUTSIDE OF PITTSBURGH. IT WAS NOT HIT BY ANY OBJECT. THE GLASS APPEARED TO BURST UPWARD.
THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAR BECOMES STICKY AND SHINE ON THE EYES DURING HOT SUNNY DAYS. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA THAT IT WILL BE COVERED BY WARRANTY TILL 10 YEARS BUT FOR MY VEHICLE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA THEY SAY THAT IS A REGULAR WEAR AND TEAR AND SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CAUSES A SAFELY ISSUE DUE TO THE GLARING EFFECT WHILE DRIVING ON HOT SUNNY DAYS. THIS SHOULD BE MORE OF A RECALL THAN A REGULAR WEAR AND TARE, I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE WITH MY OTHER CAR THAT IS OLDER THAN MY TOYOTA SIENNA.
I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT MY CAR INTO REVERSE FROM PARK WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKES. IT CAUSED MY CAR TO START ROLLING.
ON JULY 19, 2018 AFTERNOON, MY WIFE DROVE HER 2008 TOYOTA SIENNA HOME ON A LOCAL STREET IN GREAT BOSTON AREA, THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR SUDDENLY EXPLORED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. SINCE THE WINDOWS WERE OPENED, BROKEN GLASSES FLEW INSIDE THE CAR AND SPREAD. FORTUNATELY, NO BODY SIT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND NOBODY WAS DIRECTLY HURT BY THE ACCIDENT, IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE MY 2-YEAR OLD SON SIT BEHIND HIS MOM. I WONDER IF THIS KIND ACCIDENT WAS REPORTED PREVIOUSLY AND WHAT IS THE CAUSE. NOTE, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 80 F ON THAT DAY.
THE VSC AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AND SLIP INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AROUND CURVES JUST AS THE FRONT WHEELS GRAB. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL MECHANIC S AND TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING SHOWS UP ON THE DYNASTIC TEST MACHINE. SO, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS IS HAZARDOUS SITUATION AND RECORDS SHOW I HOLD TOYOTA RESPONSIBLE FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND WELL-BEING. WE HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE VEHICLE HAS 174,000 MILES ON IT. THE VSC ICON COMES ON ALONG WITH THE ALARM WHEN DRIVING ON DRY ROADS AND WHEN TURNING WHETHER ON FLAT OR DOWNHILL TRAVEL WITH THE BRAKES GRABBING AND RELEASING. THE SITUATION IS UNPREDICTABLE. PROBLEM STARTED AT APPROXIMATELY 173,000. THE SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE TURNING ON HIGHWAYS ETC. PLEASE MAKE THIS SERIOUS RECALL FOR TOYOTA. THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM IS OFTEN TRIGGERING WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. IT PRESENTS A HUGE RISK OF LOSING CONTROL EVERY TIME. MANY PEOPLE WITH TOYOTA SIENNA VANS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AS I'VE SEEN ON VARIOUS WEBSITE FORUMS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO FLOOR AND EXPERIENCED NO BRAKING. DEALER STATED "BRAKE COMPONENTS SEIZED AND INTERNAL FAILURE IN MASTER CYLINDER"
BOTH AUTOMATIC SIDE DOORS BROKE AT 120,000 MILES. DOORS ARE UNSAFE AND OPENED ON THEIR OWN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WITH GRANDSON IN BACKSEAT. NOW THAT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR FUNCTION IS BROKE ON BOTH DOORS THEY BOTH WON'T CLOSE COMPLETELY ANYMORE AND DON'T LATCH COMPLETELY. THEY ARE UNSAFE.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL MY FORWARD FACING CAR SEAT USING LATCH, I'VE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE THE HOOK FOR THE TOP TETHER, THAT SHOULD BE LOCATED BEHIND EACH OF MY 2ND ROW SEATS. DESPITE CHECKING THE MANUFACTURERS MANUAL, I WAS MERELY ABLE TO LOCATE WHAT FELT LIKE A HOOK THAT IS COMPLETELY COVERED BY FABRIC. NOT KNOWING ANY BETTER, I MISTAKENLY HOOKED THE TETHER STRAP TO ANOTHER HOOK THAT WAS LOCATED BEHIND THE SEAT. IN COMPLETING A CPST COURSE, I'VE LEARNED THAT THIS PRACTICE COULD HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY INJURED OR KILLED MY CHILD IF WE HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN A WRECK. MY CPST INSTRUCTORS AGREED WITH MY SUSPICION THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THESE SEATS, AND THAT THE TETHER BAR SHOULD NOT BE COMPLETELY COVERED BY FABRIC. MY FEAR IS THAT OTHER FAMILIES WITH THIS VEHICLE ARE PUTTING THEIR CHILDREN AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH BECAUSE THEY AREN'T UTILIZING THE TOP TETHER SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY CAN'T ACCESS THE BAR FOR IT.
BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM TOYOTA DEALER, THE SECOND YEAR WE NOTICED THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN DURING COLD DAYS WHEN YOU PULL THE HANDLE FROM THE OUTSIDE. WE TOOK IT IN TO GET INSPECTED, SERVICE MANAGER TOLD US EVERYTHING WAS FINE. BUT IT STILL EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS YEAR, WE NOTICED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD STARTED TO GET BLURRY. FIRST WE THOUGH THE WINDOW WAS DIRTY, SO WE TRIED TO CLEAN IT WITH WINDEX MANY TIMES, IT STILL THE SAME. SO NOTHING WE CAN DO. ESPECIALLY WHEN WE DRIVE FOR A LONG TIME, WE WILL FEELING DIZZY. WE CONTACTED TOYOTA (CASE NUMBER 1806052799), THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL AND SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT, EVEN THOUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS ORIGINAL. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECTS.
MY PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE SNAPPED ON IT, WHEN I WENT TO OPEN IT MONTHS BACK, THE CABLE IS HANGING DOWN ON IT AND I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO USE MY POWER SLIDING DOOR IN MONTHS! IT SNAPPED ON ME WHEN IT WAS PARKED AND I HAD A LOAD OF GROCERIES I HIT THE POWER DOOR BUTTON AND I SAW SOMETHING FALL FROM THE WINDOW AND IT WOULDNT OPEN OR SHUT. I ACTUALLY HAVE TO HAVE THE INDOOR LIGHT SWITCH OFF BECAUSE THE DOOR WHEN I GO AROUND CORNERS LIGHT WILL COME ON THAT IT ISNT PROPERLY SHUT! ITS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT I CANT AFFORD TO FIX! IT HAPPENED AT 117,000 MILES BACK IN MAY 2018. I WAS TOLD IT WAS GOING TO BE $2,000! I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THESE SLIDING DOORS! NOW IM JUST PAST THE MILEAGE OF 120K AND 9 YEARS? I BOUGHT A TOYOTA MINIVAN IN 2008 FOR SAFETY FOR MY FAMILY. I LOVED THE POWER SLIDING DOOR WHEN I PICKED MY KIDS UP. THIS IS WRONG, MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM, AND I NEVER GET A WARRANTY SLIP ON IT, AND IF I WOULDVE KNOWN WHEN IT BROKE, IT WOULDVE BEEN COVERED. BUT NOW ITS TOO LATE?! THATS NOT RIGHT!! THESE CABLES HAVE OBVIOUS DEFECTS, AND SHOULD ALL BE REPLACED WHEN THIS HAPPENS!!!
VVTI OIL LINE HAS LARGE HOLE ALL OF A SUDDEN, CAUSED VERY QUICK LOSS OF ALL OIL IN CAR. I WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, AND OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR PULLED OVER AND STOPPED. IF I HAD BEEN IN A WORSE POSITION, IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED ENGINE SEIZURE. THERE IS A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN ON THIS, MY VEHICLE HAD IT REPLACED IN 2014, AND IT FAILED AGAIN BECAUSE THEY PUT THE SAME FAULTY PART WITH RUBBER HOSE CONNECTOR. IN 2010 THEY ACTUALLY RELEASED SAME ENGINE WITH AN ALL METAL OIL HOSE, BUT THATS NOT WHAT THEY REPLACED IT WITH ON THE TECHNICAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN.
MY LUG NUTS ARE SWOLLEN. THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA BECAUSE THEY USE A TWO PART LUG NUT DESIGN. WATER GETS BETWEEN THE TWO PARTS, SWELLS AND I CANNOT REMOVE MY TIRE. THANK GOODNESS I WAS NEAR A MECHANIC AND NOT 60 MILES NOWHERE. I COULD NOT GET THE WHEEL OFF THE CAR WITH MY CAR BASED TOOLS.
THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT HAS STARTED RELEASING ITSELF DURING MOTION; THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE. IN ADDITION, WHEN STATIONARY AND ABOUT TO DRIVE, WHEN I TRY TO LATCH THE SEATBELT IT HAS BECOME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE SEATBELT TO LATCH. IN ADDITION, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE SEATBELT WHEN STOPPING DRIVING BECAUSE IT IS STUCK IN THE LATCH. THIS COMBINATION OF SELF-RELEASE, NON-LATCHING, AND BEING STUCK IS A SERIOUS DANGER HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY TOYOTA. THE VEHICLE IS UNDRIVEABLE IN THIS CONDITION.
DEAR MADAME/SIR, I OWN A TOYOTA SIENNA (2008). THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR CABLE JUST GOT CUT-OFF LAST WEEK WHILE MY KID WAS TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR AND GET IN AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR MOVES VERY SLOWLY. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER(S) AND THEY SAID THEY HAD A FIX AT NO COST ONLY FOR VEHICLES WHICH ARE 9 YEARS/120,000 MILES AND IF THE CUSTOMER CAME WITH A PROBLEM (NOT A RECALL) AND I DO NOT QUALIFY AS IT HAS BEEN 10 YEARS (HOW DID TOYOTA COME-UP WITH THIS NUMBER?). I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED A SIMILAR ISSUE AND LOOKS LIKE TOYOTA DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THEM EITHER. FROM THE DEALER I UNDERSTAND TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE OR DID NOT DO ENOUGH TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. MY 2008 TOYOTA SIENNA SUDDENLY SLAMS ON BRAKES WHEN TURNING RIGHT. USED TO BE OCCASIONALLY ON MOUNTAIN CURVES DURING LAST YEAR, BUT NOW DOES IT RANDOMLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON STRAIGHT ROADS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS! HOW DO I GET TOYOTA TO FIX THIS OBVIOUS DESIGN DEFECT? CAR HAS 230K MILES.
THIS VEHICLE HAS 3 OPEN RECALLS ON IT I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN WOOSTER OHIO AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME IT WOULD TAKE A FEW HOURS TO DO ALL THE REPAIRS AND ID HAVE TO WAIT OR DROP IT OFF I AS A CUSTOMER FEEL ITS UNFAIR FOR TOYOTA TO MAKE A CUSTOMER WAIT FOR HOURS TO FIX REPAIRS THAT ARE FAULTS OF THE CAR MANUFACTUER I ASKED FOR A LOANER CAR WHILE THE WORK IS COMPLETED THEY REFUSED SAYING THE ONLY WAY A LOANER IS GIVEN IS IS THE RECALL IS DOOR RELATED
FRONT DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AND STICKY. I HAVE HEARD TOYOTA HAD A RECALL AT ONE TIME, HOWEVER I CANNOT FIND IT. ALSO, SEATBELT IN THE MIDDLE AND REAR SEATS LOCK OFTEN IN PLACE WITHOUT BREAKING. MUST UNBUCKLE TO RELEASE AND RESET.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. DON MCGILL TOYOTA OF KATY (21555 KATY FWY, KATY, TX 77450, (832) 772-1000) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE AUTOMATIC REAR LIFT-GATE/DOOR WHEN OPENED EITHER VIA REMOTE OR DRIVER OVERHEAD BACK-DOOR OPENER, OPENS ALL THE WAY UP AND CLOSES IMMEDIATELY. THE DOOR NOT STAY OPEN. THIS APPEARS TO BE A RECALL ISSUE IN OLDER SIENNA MODEL (2006) BUT DEALER COULD NOT FIX MY MODEL (2008) AS A RECALL ISSUE AS THIS IS NOT LISTED UNDER MY MODEL FOR RECALL. NOV 16,2017 OIL COOLER PIPE AND LINES BURST ON HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING THRU NO BREAK DOWN LANE TUNNEL. VAN ALL MOTOR OIL WITHIN MINUTES, RESULTING IN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. EXTENDED SERVICE WARRANTY FROM TOYOTA "ZE2" HAD BEEN GIVEN TO TOYOTA DEALERS NATION WIDE BUT DESPITE DEALER SERVICE DONE IN JULY 2017 NO MENTION OF A PROBLEM MENTIONED. NO NOTIFICATION WAS SENT TO OWNERS OF A POTENTIAL PROBLEM.IT CREATED A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN LIFE THREATENING.
REAR SLIDING DOORS FAIL TO CLOSE FULLY RESULTING IN THE DOOR OPENING WHILE DRIVING.
WHEN DRIVING NORMALLY IN DRY CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL ENGAGES WHEN MAKING SLOW TURNS AT ABOUT 45 TO 55 MPH. IT HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN STEERING TO THE RIGHT BUT CAN HAPPEN WHEN TURNING LEFT. THIS RESULTS IN DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS WHERE THE BRAKES UNEXPECTEDLY ENGAGE OR THE CAR DOWN SHIFTS TO A LOWER GEAR. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK AND HAS PLACED ME AND OTHERS IN DANGER. THE PROBLEM BEGAN ABOUT 2 TO 3 YEARS AGO AND HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR ISSUES WITHOUT RESOLUTION BY TOYOTA, DEALERS OR AUTO REPAIR SHOPS. I AM ONLY ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BY REMOVING THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM. A CABLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OF MY TOYOTA 2008 SIENNA BROKE AND STARTED MAKING A STRANGE NOISE. I AM UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FULLY AND MY CHILDREN ARE UNABLE TO GET OUT ON THIS SIDE OF THE CAR - A SAFETY HAZARD.
8/20/10 BOUGHT GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TIRES, 80K WARRANTY. 10/3/14 AT 65K TIRES WORN OUT EARLY, REPLACED TIRES WITH MICHELIN DEFENDER TIRES, 90K WARRANTY. 9/14/17 AT 48K TIRES WORN OUT EARLY, ALL 4 AT OUTER EDGE WAS 1 OR 2, BUT REST OF TREDS ARE 3 OR 4. ROTATED AND INFLATED TIRES PER REQUIREMENTS. MANY SIENNA OWNER ARE REPORTING THIS ISSUE. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VAN DESIGN TO HAVE TIRES WEAR SO QUICKLY.
VAN HAS EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR CHARACTERISTICS. NO MATTER WHAT THE RATING OR QUALITY OF THE TIRE, THEY ONLY LAST AT MOST 25,000 MILES. ALIGNMENT IS FINE.
VEHICLE TRACTION CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY ENGAGES ON DRIVE PAVEMENT IN CURVES AND STRAIGHTAWAYS AT VARYING SPEEDS. VEHICLE ALARM BEEPS, VEHICLE BRAKES, AND VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY STEERS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS, UNSAFE SITUATION ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS FOR THE AFFECTED VEHICLE AND TRAILING VEHICLES. THIS HAS OCCURRED WITHOUT PREDICTABILITY MANY TIMES.
MY 2008 TOYOTA SIENNA BEGAN TO CREATE A SMOKE SCREEN IMPAIRING ME FROM HAVING A CLEAR VISUAL OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND CHECK IF MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. ONCE I INSPECTED THE OUTSIDE AND OPEN THE HOOD TO MAKE SURE NOTHING WAS ON FIRE I NOTICE A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE VEHICLE AN UPON FURTHER LOOK MY ENGINE MOTOR OIL COOLING HOSE HAD BURST, SPRAYING THE MOTOR AND EVERYTHING INSIDE WITH MOTOR OIL. THIS WAS THE 3RD TIME THIS VEHICLE HAS DONE THE SAME PROBLEM.
DEFECTIVE OIL COOLING HOSE RUPTURED SUDDENLY WHEN PARKED, SPILLING OIL IN GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT AND LEAVING THE FAMILY STRANDED. WE HAD TO TOW CAR TO CAPITOL TOYOTA IN SAN JOSE. THE CAR STARTED LEAKING OIL ON THE WAY TO THE GROCERY STORE AS EVIDENCED BY A TRAIL OF OIL LEADING UP TO PARKING LOT. THE CAR HAS NOW BEEN AT CAPITOL TOYOTA SINCE 7/17 (ABOUT 4 WEEKS) WITH NO ETA FOR NEW IMPROVED METAL REPLACEMENT HOSE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT CAPITOL TOYOTA ADMITTED THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. APPARENTLY THE BETTER REPLACEMENT HOSE IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER, AGAIN WITH NO ETA, AND SO NO LINE OF SIGHT ON WHEN THE CAR WILL BE FIXED. IN THE MEAN TIME MY WIFE HAS NO CAR TO DRIVE, AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO SUPPLY A LOANER. I HAVE ESCALATED THIS WITH TOYOTA HEAD QUARTERS AND THEY ALSO WILL NOT PROVIDE A LOANER. THIS SITUATION IS VERY FRUSTRATING, AS THE CAR IS AT THE DEALER, AND NO TIMELINE FOR WHEN THE PART WILL COME IN AND REPAIR WILL BE DONE. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS SORT OF SITUATION BEFORE, WITH THE MANY CARS I'VE OWNED IN THE PAST.
DETROIT AXLE, IN MICHIGAN, IS SELLING DEFECTIVE STRUTS, STRAIGHT OUT OF THE JUNKYARD, AND RACK AND PINION STEERING AND MANY OTHER SUSPENSION PARTS, ADVERTISED AS NEW, BY JUST PLACING A COAT OF PAINT IN THEM. THEY OFFER A WARRANTY OF ONE YEAR IN THE PRODUCTS, BUT THE CONSUMER MUST PAY FOR THE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF THE PART. I PLAYED THEIR GAME FOR THREE TIMES AND I FOOLISHLY PAID 3 TIMES FOR THE STRUT INSTALLATION, PLUS OTHER DAMAGES THE FAULTY STRUTS CAUSED ME . THE FAULTY STRUTS CAUSED MY FRAME TO LOOSEN, MY HORIZONTAL DRIVE SHAFT TO DAMAGE, AND RACK AND PINION STEERING, THAT DETROIT AXLE SOLD. WELL, MY VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AT BETWEEN 45-55 MILES PER HOUR, THUS HAVING TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I MANAGED TO DRIVE TO A MECHANIC THROUGH BACK ROADS AT LOW SPEEDS. THE DEFECTIVE RACK AND PINION STEERING AND THE DEFECTIVE, SOLD AS NEW PARTS, AND ADVERTISED AS NEW PARTS FAILED IN THREE OCCASIONS ANE DAMAGING MY OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE. IT COST ME OVER $3000 TO REPLACE THOSE PARTS PLUS THE MONEY THAT I GAVE TO DETROIT AXLE, WITH THE COLLUSION OF EBAY SELLING HIS PRODUCTS. ONCE THE PARTS ARE RECEIVED, WITHIN 60 DAYS, HE CLOSES THE FEEDBACK ON HIS PAGE, THUS NOT LETTING THE SUSPECTING PUBLIC COMPLAIN AGAINST HIS JUNKYARD OF DEFECTIVE PARTS. EBAY PROTECTS HIM. I STILL HAVE TO REPLACE MY MICHELIN NEW TIRES FOR MORE EXPENSE AND THE THIRD PAIR OF STRUTS ARE STILL ON THE VEHICLE, IN WHICH I STILL HAVE TO REPLACE FOR A THIRD TIME!
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF PARKED IN PARKING LOT. OPENED SIDE DOOR WITH AUTOMATIC KEY FOB AND THE DOOR OPENED HALFWAY THEN STARTED MAKING A WEIRD NOISE. IT WOULD NOT CLOSE OR OPEN MANUALLY NO MATTER WHAT I DID. I HAD TO DRIVE MYSELF AND 5 KIDS ACROSS TOWN WITH THE DOOR OPEN, CAR BEEPING BECAUSE DOOR WAS OPEN. MY HUSBAND FINALLY GOT THE DOOR TO CLOSE AFTER I GOT HOME BUT THERE WAS A SEVERED CABLE THAT NOW HANGS UNDER THE REAR WINDOW. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY NOW. SO I CAN'T USE THE DOOR AT ALL. IF YOU EVEN TRY TO TOUCH OR OPEN THE DOOR THEN THE SYSTEM THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN AND BEEPS THE WHOLE TIME YOU ARE DRIVING AND YOU CAN'T LOCK THE DOOR. I'M WORRIED IT WILL OPEN WHILE DRIVING. FROM RESEARCH IT APPEARS TO BE AN ALL TOO COMMON ISSUE WITH TOYOTA VANS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL OR COVERED FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE IN MY OPINION. THE AUTO OPENING DOOR WAS THE ONLY REASON WE PURCHASED A VAN AND NOT A SUV.

FURTHERMORE, THE VSC AND TRACTION CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA KNOXVILLE (10415 PARKSIDE DR, KNOXVILLE, TN 37922), BUT THEY DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO FOX TOYOTA (228 FOX FAMILY LN, CLINTON, TN 37716) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. *BF *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, THE CHILD OCCUPANT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A RETAINING WALL. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT FOUND THAT THE SHIFT LEVER COULD BE MOVED WITHOUT THE IGNITION KEY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V429000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

WHILE PUTTING ON THE BRAKES TO STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED UP TO 6000 RPM AND TRIED TO TAKE OFF BY ITSELF. I PUSHED THE GEAR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND PUT MY LEFT FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM MOVING. I KICKED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL IT DISENGAGED. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THERE WAS NOT A FLOOR MAT INVOLVED AS THERE WAS NOT ONE IN THE CAR AT THIS TIME. THE LAST TIME I TALKED TO A TOYOTA DEALER ABOUT THIS THEY SAID THIS COULD NOT HAPPEN AND I WAS WRONG ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. THE DEALER DID NOT DOCUMENT ANY OF THIS AND WANTED NOTHING FURTHER TO DO WITH ME. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING WHEN YOU PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP FOR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL OR TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. MY WIFE WAS ALSO IN THE CAR TWO OF THE TIMES AND SAW WHAT HAPPENED. SHE WAS NOT IN THE CAR FOR THE LATEST EPISODE.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. WHILE DRIVING,THE DOOR WILL SLIDE OPEN WHEN ACCELERATING. I CALLED TOYOTA ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAID THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNLESS I PAY FOR REPAIRS. THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE FACTORY WARRANTY SPECIFICALLY FOR THE SLIDING DOORS TO 9 YEARS/ 120K MI. MY VEHICLE IS 11 DAYS PAST THE 9 YEARS BUT UNDER THE 120K MI. I CANNOT GET THE DOOR TO LATCH CLOSED, A TOYOTA SUPERVISOR INFORMED ME THERE WAS A RECALL TO KEEP THE DOOR LATCHED CLOSED BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED 4/12/2017 WHILE PARKED AT MY KIDS SOCCER PRACTICE. AFTER READING HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST TOYOTA FOR THEIR SLIDING DOOR PROBLEMS, I'M NOT SURE WHY THIS WOULDN'T BE CLASSIFIED AS A RECALL. DRIVING WITH A DOOR THAT WON'T STAY SHUT IS NOT VERY SAFE.
CABLE ON DRIVER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR SNAPPED WHILE OPENING THE DOOR WHEN PARKED. DOOR WOULD ONLY OPEN A FEW INCHES AS CABLE WAS STUCK IN THE MECHANISM. I HAD TO CLOSE IT TO DRIVE HOME THEN IT WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL AFTER I GOT HOME, EVEN AFTER I DISCONNECTED THE MOTOR WITH THE BUTTON UNDER THE DASH AND TRIED TO OPERATE MANUALLY. THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY NON-FUNCTIONAL NOW. I AM CONCERNED NOW SINCE I CAN'T MOVE THE DOOR IF IT IS TRULY LATCHED AND MAY COME OPEN WHILE DRIVING, ALSO IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND I COULDN'T OPEN THE OTHER DOOR FOR SOME REASON THAT ANYONE IN THE BACK WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT QUICKLY. THE MOTOR WAS WORKING (I CAN HEAR IT RUNNING) AND I CAN SEE THE SNAPPED CORRODED END OF THE CABLE SO I KNOW IT IS DEFINITELY THE CABLE AND NOT THE MOTOR OR THE DOOR LATCH. THERE IS A BIG PIECE OF CABLE HANGING OUT THE BACK OF THE DOOR NEAR THE REAR WINDOW.
